There are hard truths in military life that a humane society may dislike but cannot repeal. The first is that military service is not an entitlement. It is a calling, yes; an honor, certainly. But it is also a profession whose members must be prepared to deploy, fight, endure privation, and, if necessary, die in defense of the Republic.
Not every patriotic American can meet that standard. Many cannot, through no fault of their own.
That point, obvious until it became out of fashion for some, has been obscured in the litigation over President Donald Trump’s Executive Order 14183, “Prioritizing Military Excellence and Readiness,” and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth’s implementing policy regarding service by individuals with gender dysphoria. The order and policy have been denounced as discrimination.
After a judge on the United States District Court for the District of Columbia issued a preliminary injunction pausing implementation of the order, a three-judge panel of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit earlier this month, in a 2-1 ruling, affirmed the lower court and enjoined Hegseth’s policy as it related to plaintiffs already in the military, but vacated the preliminary injunction as it related to those seeking accession into the military.
The majority opinion was written by Judge Robert L. Wilkins (an Obama appointee) and was joined by Judge Judith W. Rogers (a Clinton appointee). It was, as far as we’re concerned, unpersuasive.
In his magisterial dissent, Judge Justin Walker (a Trump appointee) isolates the core question in this case: who decides the qualifications for service in the armed forces — Congress and the Commander in Chief, advised by military professionals, or life-tenured federal judges?
Judge Walker’s answer is both modest and correct. The Constitution assigns military governance to the political branches. Congress raises and regulates the armed forces; the President commands them. Judges, by contrast, are trained to decide cases and controversies, not to determine who can be deployed to a forward operating base, who can endure combat stress, or what aggregate risks the services may prudently assume. Walker’s dissent is admirable precisely because it practices the judicial restraint that others too often praise only when it produces their preferred results.
Nothing in that conclusion requires callousness toward people who suffer from gender dysphoria. They deserve compassion, dignity, and lawful treatment. Many have sincere desires to serve their country, and some have done so honorably. But sympathy cannot be permitted to cloud judgment about the mission of the armed forces. The military is not a therapeutic institution, a laboratory for social experimentation, or a vehicle for vindicating every asserted identity. Its purpose is to deter war, fight war, and win war.
For that reason, military medicine has always drawn lines that civilian life need not draw. Applicants and service members may be disqualified because of cardiomyopathy, epilepsy, severe scoliosis, psychotic disorders, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, limb loss, severe hearing loss, connective-tissue disorders, serious allergies, and scores of other physical and mental conditions. No one imagines that the military thereby declares those Americans less worthy as human beings. It declares only that the profession of arms imposes demands that not everyone can satisfy.
Gender dysphoria belongs in that same analytic category. The relevant question is not whether those who experience it are entitled to respect. They are. The question is whether the condition, its persistence, its symptoms, and the medical interventions often associated with it are compatible with military readiness, deployability, unit cohesion, and lethality. The literature and scientific studies reviewed by military authorities show beyond any reasonable doubt that gender dysphoria is inconsistent with the rigors of military service in the same way many other listed disqualifying maladies are inconsistent with service.
That is not a moral condemnation; it is a military judgment. The armed forces cannot function if readiness standards become aspirational rather than mandatory. A soldier who cannot deploy is not merely unavailable to himself; he imposes burdens on his unit, his commanders, and the mission. Combat arms, intelligence, logistics, aviation, cyber operations, and medical support all depend upon reliability under stress. The military must know, before a crisis arrives, who can go, who can stay, and who can be counted upon when hesitation is measured in lives.
Judge Walker grasped that elementary reality. His dissent did not pretend that judges possess secret competence in military personnel policy, deployment calculus, or battlefield risk. To the contrary, he candidly acknowledged that courts lack both the expertise and constitutional warrant to decide whether particular medical conditions are compatible with service. That humility is not abdication. It is fidelity to the separation of powers.
The contrary approach is dangerous. Once courts treat military qualification standards as invitations to free-ranging judicial revision, every disqualification can become a constitutional controversy. If federal judges may override the considered judgment of the Secretary of War on gender dysphoria, why not on depression, seizure disorders, severe orthopedic limitations, or any other condition that renders service more hazardous or less dependable? The logic has no principled stopping point.
Nor is the government’s policy some unexplained spasm of prejudice. Executive Order 14183 invokes the military’s central mission: readiness, cohesion, lethality, discipline, uniformity, and deployability. The Department of War then applied that judgment through medical and personnel standards. Critics may quarrel with the policy, but disagreement is not proof of unconstitutionality.
In military affairs, the question is not whether a district judge would have balanced the evidence differently; it is whether the political branches have acted within their constitutional authority and on a rational military basis.
Walker’s dissent is therefore valuable not merely because it reaches the right result, but because it resists a fashionable temptation: to convert judicial power into a roving commission to supervise the armed forces. Courts have an indispensable role in preserving constitutional liberty. But they do not command platoons, crew ships, maintain aircraft, or send Marines into harm’s way. The Constitution did not entrust them with those responsibilities because judges cannot bear their consequences.

<div>The Executive Committee told DAR members informed decision-making is &#8220;best served when voting members have access to relevant information and expert analysis&#8221; and that Bagenstos&#8217; legal analysis of the resolution was being distributed &#8220;in full and without modification,&#8221; according to the internal memo.</div>

In my legal opinion, implementing the proposed resolution would expose the National Society to significant risk of being found in violation of the District of Columbia Human Rights Law,” Bagenstos wrote in the opening paragraph of the legal analysis. &#8220;If found in violation, the National Society could be required to pay damages to those excluded from membership. More significantly, it would likely lose both its D.C. tax exemption and any licenses or permits to operate Constitution Hall.&#8221;</div>

<div>The three page legal analysis provided by Bagenstos concluded with a strong message to members that the adoption of the female-only resolution would &#8220;very likely&#8221; have dire financial consequences for the organization.</div>

Radical leftist Senate candidate Graham Platner said that the real “reason” conservatives care about men in women’s sports is that billionaires are afraid of a wealth tax.
He claimed that social concerns, such as the transgender sports issue, are manufactured by billionaire donors to distract voters from economic issues. He suggested that the well-funded campaign against him is strictly a result of his proposed tax increases. 
&#8220;They want us arguing about trans kids in sports so we don&#8217;t ask about why the hospital closed. That&#8217;s the point,&#8221; Platner said. &#8220;And the reason I know that&#8217;s the point is that entire campaign was funded by one billionaire who lives in Illinois. He was afraid that if they don&#8217;t get to use bigotry to drive people out to the polls in November, they might lose, and his taxes are going to go up. And he&#8217;s right. They sure as hell are.&#8221;

Platner was referring to billionaire Richard Uihlein, a prominent GOP megadonor, who financed a ballot referendum in Maine that sought to protect girls and women in sports. 
Platner has been at the center of many controversies throughout his campaign. He once sported a Nazi tattoo, has had an account on a messaging app that&#8217;s been called a child predator &#8220;paradise,&#8221; and has made misogynistic comments dismissive of rape.
He has launched an insurgent campaign against sitting Republican Sen. Susan Collins, focused primarily on far-Left economics and staunch anti-Israel stances. Collins has consistently <a href="https://www.newsmax.com/politics/sen-susan-collins-lugar-index-most-bipartisan-lawmaker/2018/05/05/id/858554/">ranked</a> as the most bipartisan senator in Congress.
Platner has been a vocal supporter of a wealth tax. When Elon Musk became the first person to reach a net worth of over $1 trillion, Platner <a href="https://x.com/grahamformaine/status/2065434412984963208">called on</a> voters to make sure he was the “last” trillionaire. 
The argument that social issues are a distraction from class warfare is a familiar socialist claim. The Democratic Socialists of America, an extremist Left-wing group of which Platner is a former member, <a href="https://platform.dsausa.org/program/">states</a> that “culture wars are intended to pit workers against each other to empower a Right-wing government.”

Trans violence. It&#8217;s the thing Mayor Brandon Johnson of Chicago wakes up every morning thinking about. It&#8217;s what the liberal media wants you to believe is the greatest threat to American life. And it’s a thing that basically doesn&#8217;t exist.
Except, of course, in the fever dream of progressive politics.
Johnson <a href="https://x.com/ChicagosMayor/status/2068740734971412745">posted</a> to X this weekend, breathlessly announcing that since declaring a &#8220;Transfemicide State of Emergency,&#8221; his administration has &#8220;strengthened the City&#8217;s capacity to support LGBTQ+ Chicagoans.&#8221;
Transwhatnow? Did they mean Transformers? Is someone out there killing Optimus Prime?!
No, no. They&#8217;re referring to the alleged epidemic of hate crimes and violence against trans women of color. The sort that supposedly prompted Johnson&#8217;s Mayoral Working Group to recommend sweeping policy changes and spending taxpayer money to do it.
The impetus for this entire panic? <a href="https://acrobat.adobe.com/id/urn:aaid:sc:US:f7516829-6188-4b9c-9203-81c075e2696f">Twenty-two deaths</a>. Mostly black and brown trans Chicagoans. Over a span of 21 years.
That&#8217;s the emergency.
Here&#8217;s the only problem: it&#8217;s not an epidemic. It&#8217;s not even a trend. It&#8217;s a political narrative dressed up in grief, designed to shake loose cash from guilty consciences and win applause from the blue-haired contingent. The claim that there is some wave of anti-trans hate violence sweeping America has <a href="https://www.city-journal.org/article/human-rights-campaign-transgender-murders-white-supremacy?utm_source=virtuous&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=cjdaily">zero</a> basis in reality.
Let&#8217;s start with the most basic question: Are transgender people being murdered at alarming rates?
Nope. The <a href="https://dont-shoot-the-data.github.io/TCLEAR/">only peer-reviewed study</a> to estimate transgender homicide rates found the general population homicide rate was 25.8 per 100,000, while the transgender rate was approximately 3.66 per 100,000, roughly one-seventh the general population rate.
Not an epidemic. The opposite of an epidemic. Trans people are statistically safer than the rest of us.
And who is doing the killing? Not the white supremacists your local diversity officer keeps warning you about. As independent researchers Vincent Lundgren and Colin Wright documented in City Journal, among identified suspects in transgender homicide cases, black suspects account for 65.1% of perpetrators, while white suspects account for 18%.
Huh.
They’ve been doing this for years. In 2020, the very year the Human Rights Campaign published a statement attributing the deaths of “our black trans siblings” to “an epidemic of violence” fueled by “systems of white supremacy,” not a single white suspect was identified in the verified cases.
Not one. Zero. Zilch. But sure, Karen, white supremacy.
The real driver of these deaths was intimate partner violence. The rest? Drug disputes. Robbery. Sex work gone wrong.
Tragedy? Yes. Anti-trans hate crimes at the hands of roaming bigots? Not even close.
Johnson must know this. His own &#8220;Transfemicide&#8221; report cites 22 names — presented as martyrs of anti-trans hatred. But when the actual cases are examined, only two of those deaths were even directly tied to a victim&#8217;s trans identity. De&#8217;Janay Stanton, killed in 2018 by a black boyfriend who became suicidal over the stigma of dating a trans person. And Selena Reyes-Hernandez, killed in 2020 by Orlando Perez upon discovering she was biologically a dude.
Maybe that information should’ve been disclosed before things got steamy?
Enter New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a willing understudy in the same grift. He kicked off LQBTQABCDEFG month by sharing articles warning of an &#8220;uptick in violent killings&#8221; of transgender people. 
 
<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mamdani-pushes-one-of-the-lefts-favorite-hoaxes">Small problem:</a> none of the deaths cited were classified as anti-trans hate crimes. Nearly all were domestic violence or personal disputes. But why let facts get in the way of a good fundraising pitch?! 
 
Mamdani also announced $15 million in taxpayer funding for gender-affirming care, launched a citywide &#8220;Trans Rights Are Human Rights&#8221; public awareness campaign, and established New York City&#8217;s first Mayor&#8217;s Office of LGBTQIA+ Affairs. And Johnson&#8217;s Transfemicide Working Group, for its part, directs taxpayer-funded city programs toward trans initiatives with similar enthusiasm. 
 
It&#8217;s all smoke and mirrors, and the taxpayers are stuck with the tab.
Meanwhile, back in the Bullet-Wind City, the actual emergency is unfolding on the streets. Through the first four months of 2026, Chicago has <a href="https://news.wttw.com/2026/05/05/shootings-homicides-chicago-year-they-continue-outpace-last-year-s-historic-lows">seen</a> 130 homicides, up from 120 during the same period last year. Shootings have also increased, with 421 recorded so far this year, up 5% compared to 2025. Just last weekend, 39 people were shot, six of them fatally.
These are not hate crimes manufactured by advocacy groups to maximize donor engagement. (Though we have the SPLC for that) These are real people dying in a city governed by a man who is currently convening task forces about a 21-year-long list of 22 names.
The problem is not the lifestyle choices and body counts of 0.5% of the American population. The problem is gang violence, the erosion of policing, Democrat policies that have turned whole neighborhoods into war zones, and a mayor more concerned with ideological optics than with bodies on the sidewalk. The victims are overwhelmingly male, overwhelmingly black, and overwhelmingly failed by the very politicians who claim to be their champions.
Blaming white supremacy or a made-up crisis won’t fix any of this.
The whole operation is a magic trick: manufacture a crisis, glamorize the victim class, redirect outrage away from inconvenient truths, and shake the tin cup at useful rich idiots until it rattles. Make fetch happen. Print &#8220;Transfemicide&#8221; on a press release. Watch the money flow.
Mayor Johnson — and Mayor Mamdani, while we&#8217;re at it — here&#8217;s a thought: clean up crime, get serious about policing, and stop using the bodies of actual murder victims as props for an ideology. Once you do that, your trans numbers might just take care of themselves.
The people dying in your cities don&#8217;t need a new word or a working group. They need a mayor and a mental check.

Advocacy groups are warning that a radical new bill could make it easier for gender-confused children to legally cut parents out of their lives.
The California proposal, <a href="https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=202520260AB1967" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AB 1967,</a> would allow minors to initiate legal emancipation from their parents while living in residential facilities like drug rehabilitation programs, youth shelters, and private alternative boarding schools. The bill — which the California Assembly passed in May, and which is <a href="https://fastdemocracy.com/bill-search/ca/2025-2026/bills/CAB00036846/#billtexts" target="_blank" rel="noopener">moving through</a> the state senate — is just the latest instance of California legislation that allows minors to make major decisions without parental consent by essentially electing to become wards of the state.
&#8220;This bill is part of a larger agenda designed to permit children to circumvent their parents&#8217; refusal to consent to sex-rejecting interventions,&#8221; Erin Friday, a parental rights advocate and President of Our Duty USA, told The Daily Wire. &#8220;Children cannot obtain puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, or surgeries without parental consent, but if a child enters foster care, he is subject to the<a href="https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes_displaySection.xhtml?sectionNum=16001.9.&amp;lawCode=WIC" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Foster Care Bill of Rights</a>. These rights guarantee every foster child both affirmation of a declared transgender identity and access to sex-rejecting interventions as enforceable statutory rights.&#8221;
Friday pointed to how AB 1967 builds on a bill California passed in 2023, <a href="https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=202320240AB665" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AB 665</a>, which allows minors ages 12 and over to receive treatment at residential shelters without parental consent if a professional deems them &#8220;mature enough to participate intelligently in the outpatient services or residential shelter services.&#8221; Language in the bill claims a high percentage of LGBTQ+ youth reported that getting &#8220;permission from their parents&#8221; was a &#8220;barrier to accessing mental health services.&#8221;
California minors can also initiate the emancipation process by alleging they&#8217;ve been <a href="https://www.childwelfare.gov/resources/definitions-child-abuse-and-neglect-california/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">emotionally</a> abused by their parents.
&#8220;Emotional abuse claims against a parent who is raising his gender-dysphoric child as his or her sex are sufficient to place the child into foster care,&#8221; Friday told The Daily Wire. &#8220;California has been systematically passing laws to ensure that children have a simple pathway to override their parents’ decisions, to obtain access to gender interventions.&#8221;
Transgender activists <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-harris-hhs-consulted-activist-who-said-parents-should-be-prosecuted-for-transphobia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">believe</a> not affirming a child&#8217;s gender identity is a form of emotional abuse. This idea was supported by the California legislature in 2023 when it passed a <a href="https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=202320240AB957" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bill</a> that explicitly stated parental affirmation of a minor&#8217;s gender identity was essential to the child&#8217;s &#8220;health, safety, and welfare.&#8221; After significant public outcry, the bill was vetoed by California Governor Gavin Newsom, who <a href="https://www.gov.ca.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/AB-957-Veto-Message.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">clarified</a> in a statement that existing California law already views parental affirmation of a child&#8217;s gender identity as a vital part of their health and safety.
Greg Burt, vice president of <a href="https://www.californiafamily.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">California Family Council,</a> says California&#8217;s ambiguous definition of emotional abuse raises concerns over how AB 1967 could be applied to parents who affirm a child&#8217;s true sex rather than their transgender identity.
&#8220;We are ultimately concerned that the legislature believes if you&#8217;re not affirming, that you are causing psychological harm to your own child,&#8221; Burt told The Daily Wire. &#8220;We are hyper-concerned when we see bills making it easier for kids to emancipate themselves from parents — make it easy for them to run away and make it easy for them to take away parental rights if they don&#8217;t find the parent affirming. This bill is just pushing that envelope.&#8221;
Under AB 1967, if a child residing in a safe, residential facility alleges parental abuse or neglect, it will trigger a <a href="https://www.childwelfare.gov/resources/use-safety-and-risk-assessment-child-protection-cases-california/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">safety assessment</a> of the custodial parent&#8217;s home. Authorities could conduct the assessment without notifying parents or physically visiting their home, Our Duty USA explained in a letter sent to the Senate Judiciary Committee opposing AB 1967.
&#8220;Parents do not receive any notice that a home assessment is planned or occurring. The &#8216;home assessment&#8217; can legally be completed based on the child&#8217;s statements alone, without any physical visit to the parents&#8217; home, and without the parents&#8217; knowledge,&#8221; states the letter reviewed by The Daily Wire.
&#8220;The bill contains no exemption for minors in parent-arranged placements, no minimum age floor within the dependency framework, and puts parents and children at odds. This bill empowers (encourages) children to make claims whether founded in falsehoods against their parents, when there is no indicia of abuse or neglect, outside of being placed in a facility the child opposes. This is part of the movement to permit &#8216;children&#8217; to choose their own families if they do not agree with their parents.&#8221;
The California Family Council shared similar concerns in a letter to the California Senate Judiciary Committee.
&#8220;As amended, the bill would allow a minor or a minor&#8217;s attorney to submit an affidavit alleging parental abuse or neglect by mail, facsimile, or email,&#8221; the letter states. &#8220;They accelerate state proceedings concerning a family without adding a single corresponding protection for parents. The bill is silent on whether parents must even be notified that their home is the subject of a mandated safety assessment.&#8221;
Friday told The Daily Wire the bill is of national concern because what happens legislatively in California rarely stays in California.
&#8220;California laws are routinely duplicated by other states once California shows them the way,&#8221; Friday told The Daily Wire.

Radical Bill Will Make It Easier For ‘Trans’ Kids To Cut Legal Ties With Parents

Parents should think twice about sending their kids to a YMCA summer camp this summer if they don’t want their daughters to be forced to share a cabin with a gender-confused boy, a watchdog group warned Tuesday.
YMCA summer camps across the country have implemented policies that make cabin assignments contingent on gender identity and offer so-called “all gender cabins” in the name of inclusivity. In an alert first shared with The Daily Wire, the American Parents Coalition <a href="https://americanparentscoalition.org/the-lookout-the-ymca-is-still-compromising-on-child-safety-and-privacy/">called</a> for parents to be vigilant about the policies in place at their local YMCA camp. 
&#8220;As we enter into another summer camp season, YMCA camps across the country are still allowing males into girls&#8217; cabins, showers, and private spaces,” Alleigh Marré, the group’s executive director, told The Daily Wire. “The dedication to embracing and promoting transgender ideology continues to be a priority.”
The “lookout” issued by the American Parents Coalition on Tuesday urged parents to review their local YMCA’s policies and advocate for changes to gender-identity-based access policies. The YMCA’s official website features a diversity, equity, and inclusion statement that <a href="https://ds.ymca.org/aboutus" target="_blank" rel="noopener">identifies</a> “gender identity” as one of its priorities for inclusion. 
Last summer, the YMCA <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ymca-scrubs-transgender-guidance-after-parent-group-raises-alarm?author=Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=0&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=YMCA+Scrubs+Transgender+Guidance+After+Parent+Group+Raises+Alarm">scrubbed</a> guidance from its website saying that its campers should have access to bathrooms and cabins based on their gender identities after the American Parents Coalition launched a similar campaign. 
Even after that move, many local YMCA camps still have policies in place giving preference to gender identity. 
For example, at the Sherman Lake YMCA in Michigan, <a href="https://www.shermanlakeymca.org/safety-equity-at-sherman-lake-ymca">policies</a> dictate that “campers are assigned to cabins based on their identified gender” and note that an “all-gender cabin is available during select sessions.” 
“We do not ask any camper to ‘prove’ their gender. Doing so would be discriminatory and is not consistent with our policies or values,” the camp says on its webpage. 
Sherman Lake YMCA also appears to say it would keep parents out of the loop if a child starts identifying as a different gender while at camp. 
“If a camper shares information about their identity while at camp, we respect their privacy and autonomy,” its policies say. “We will only share this information with caregivers if the camper gives express consent, unless there is a concern related to the health or safety of the camper or others.”

Other camps have similar policies, including Camp Hazen in Connecticut, which <a href="https://www.camphazenymca.org/first-time-overnight-campers">boasts</a> of “Gender Inclusive” cabin policies that include “girls+” and “boys+” options. 
“The ‘+’ reflects our commitment to inclusion — these spaces welcome cisgender, trans*, and non-binary youth who feel most comfortable in that environment,” the camp says. 
Similarly in New York, Camp Gorham <a href="https://rochesterymca.org/ymca-camp-gorham-overnight-summer-camp">offers</a> “girl+” cabins as a “space for girls, trans and non-binary campers who feel most comfortable living with girls” and “Boy+ Cabins” for “boys, trans and non-binary campers who feel most comfortable living with boys.”
At Camp Shady Brook in Colorado, the YMCA suggests that it must allow males into female spaces because of state law. It says on its website that it is <a href="https://campshadybrook.ppymca.org/about/">required</a> “to allow members to use the facilities they identify with, as gender identity is a protected class.” 
This policy <a href="https://campshadybrook.ppymca.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2025/02/2025-CSB-Family-Handbook.pdf">translates</a> over to the camp where cabins and bathrooms are allowed on the basis of “preference” and “gender identity.” 
“Access to gendered spaces (e.g. restrooms, overnight accommodations) will be on the basis of gender identity and preference,” the Camp Shady Brook website says. “Gender assigned at birth, physical characteristics, or presentation will not dictate use of gendered space.”
Camp Olson in Minnesota <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20260519221735/https://campolson.org/gender-expansive-faq/">boasts</a> about a similar policy, saying that it has an “all gender” cabin option, but also offers male and female cabins based on “gender preference.&#8221; 
“Cabin assignments will be made based on cabin gender preference (male-identifying, female-identifying, gender expansive, or no preference), as identified on their camper application,” the camp’s website says. “If parents/guardians do not select a cabin gender preference, cabin assignments will be made based on gender identity.”
That page appears to have been <a href="https://campolson.org/gender-expansive-faq/">deleted</a> after The Daily Wire reached out for comment.
At the same time, it allows transgender-identifying individuals to use either male or female restrooms, <a href="https://campolson.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/LGBTQ-Inclusion-Policy.pdf">according</a> to its posted policies. 
Other camps, like Camp Conrad Weiser in Pennsylvania, <a href="https://www.smymca.org/summer-camps/camp-conrad-weiser-overnight-camp/pride-camp/">offer</a> specific “Pride” camps as a “a safe-space, non-gendered village where they can form lasting bonds through their shared stories,” and where “social justice” conversations can take place.

Marré said her organization would continue to pressure the YMCA until they ensured girls did not have to share spaces with boys. 
“When we exposed their dangerous gender policies last year, the YMCA&#8217;s response wasn&#8217;t to protect children, but instead to quietly scrub the evidence from their websites,” Marré told The Daily Wire. “American Parents Coalition will not stop demanding accountability until the YMCA policies protect safety and privacy in girls’ spaces and respect familial decisions and values.”

What Your Child’s Summer Camp May Not Be Telling You

According to the New York Times, the apotheosis of fatherhood is getting your tits chopped off.
On Sunday, while the majority of the Western world paused to honor the men who provide, protect, and show up, the Times was busy lionizing women who underwent double mastectomies, injected themselves with testosterone, and are now passing themselves off as dads to impressionable young children.
The <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/21/opinion/trans-dad-parenting-fathers-day.html">piece</a>, titled &#8220;To My Daughter, My Gender Was Never Complicated,&#8221; was written by Zach Ellams — born Clair Ellams — a London-based editor and motion designer, and a biological woman performing the role of father for an audience that eats it up.
The whole thing was a three-pronged disaster: a belittlement of actual fathers, a disturbing window into child confusion manufactured by adults, and a stark exposé of the New York Times&#8217; true priorities.
The essay&#8217;s illustrations were unintentionally the most honest part of the piece. The <a href="https://static01.nyt.com/images/2026/06/21/opinion/21jacobs-1/21jacobs-1-superJumbo-v4.jpg?quality=75&amp;auto=webp">first</a>, captioned &#8220;you need a thick skin to be a parent,&#8221; showed Ellams&#8217; daughter, Elliot, shouting back: &#8220;You&#8217;re slow because you&#8217;re old.&#8221; A thick-skin moment, apparently.

Bless her. It only gets harder from here. Real thick skin between mothers and daughters is earned through war; fights over boys, curfew violations, outfit standoffs at the front door. That&#8217;s tough love, and it’s coming. Getting teased about your pace on a jog is just another Tuesday.
The illustrations also fixated, obsessively, on body hair. Ellams’ beard appeared in every frame: spotty, coarse, and uneven, with the leg hair cutting off at the knees in some panels and disappearing entirely in others. It reads less like confident self-expression and more like a woman overcompensating in ink what biology refused to provide.
As a female, I can confirm: when I don&#8217;t shave, I look like <a href="https://static01.nyt.com/images/2026/06/21/opinion/21jacobs-12b/21jacobs-12b-superJumbo-v3.jpg?quality=75&amp;auto=webp">Figure A</a>. When I do, <a href="https://static01.nyt.com/images/2026/06/21/opinion/21jacobs-13/21jacobs-13-superJumbo-v3.jpg?quality=75&amp;auto=webp">Figure B</a>.
You can change the body of a woman, but you can’t take the woman out of the body.
Novelist Lionel Shriver once <a href="https://x.com/bdomenech/status/2068760284857036874">remarked</a> that &#8220;masculinity as an ideal is pretty ridiculous&#8221; — a sentiment the Times appears to have taken as editorial policy. They didn&#8217;t just celebrate a woman pretending to be a father; they did it on Father&#8217;s Day, with full illustrations, treating the demolition of fatherhood as a gift to their readership.

The hair became a problem beyond the page. On the playground, little Elliot told her friends she wanted a beard when she grew up. Her classmate, in the blunt, unimpeachable logic of childhood, replied: &#8220;You can&#8217;t grow a beard, you&#8217;re a girl.&#8221; Elliot&#8217;s answer: &#8220;My dad did, and he was a girl.&#8221; The illustration showed surrounding parents shooting glares at ‘Zach’. Not at the child — at the adult who manufactured that confusion and sent it to school with her.
Earlier in the piece, Elliot asked her biological mother, “How did you grow a mustache if you were a lady?&#8221; Good question, sweetheart.
Children are not confused about biology. They are made confused by adults projecting their confusion or mental illness. Even in their earliest years, kids understand what their eyes tell them. The rewiring requires repetition; tell them again and again that what they see isn&#8217;t what&#8217;s real, that the rules of nature are negotiable, that it&#8217;s not only okay to defy common sense but courageous.
As Mr. Rogers famously and plainly sang, “Boys are boys from the beginning. Girls are girls right from the start.” Children know this. The project of confusing them is deliberate.
And this carries <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK610258/">documented</a> costs. Trans-identifying adults carry psychiatric burdens at rates that dwarf the general population: depression in up to 76% versus 29%, anxiety disorders in 62% versus 20%, autism spectrum traits around 11% versus 1%, and suicidality four to 13 times higher. These burdens are transmitted through genetics, through modeling, through the daily ambient chaos of a household built on an identity crisis to the children within them.
When Elliot tells her classmates her dad &#8220;was a girl,&#8221; she isn&#8217;t just confused about biology. She&#8217;s absorbing the full emotional weight of her parent&#8217;s pathology and carrying it onto the playground.
The New York Times didn’t run this piece just to mock the 74 million fathers in this country. They ran it because they hardly think about those fathers at all. What they do think about, deeply and devotedly, is the extreme minority of some 130,000 biological females cosplaying as dads.
And they think those women deserve a Sunday spread. Because to them, fatherhood isn&#8217;t sacred. It&#8217;s a problem to be solved.
They have genuine contempt for fathers and want the institution dismantled. When the father is minimized or replaced by a simulacrum, it&#8217;s easier to usher in perverse ideology and capture young minds. Children without anchors are easier to redirect, and for the progressive Left, the grooming and sexual mutilation of your children is the end that justifies every means. That same calculus allowed more than a quarter-million British girls to be raped, groomed, tortured, and abused in the Rotherham and Rochdale scandals, while progressive leaders looked away for years and let the rot spread.
This is the ideology being taught in schools today: children can explain stolen land theory but can&#8217;t pass algebra, why birth rates are collapsing, marriages are cratering, pornography is mainstreamed, and the family is quietly dismantled.
And it&#8217;s why the Times featured four Father&#8217;s Day <a href="https://x.com/mtaibbi/status/2068771487452897357">pieces</a> written by six people — three women, a trans &#8220;man,&#8221; and two childless men — with not a single fathering father among them. The themes were: &#8220;My father&#8217;s death was the start of my life.&#8221; &#8220;My father was an addict who failed me.&#8221; &#8220;The pain of caring for a parent who abused you.&#8221;
That&#8217;s what they think fatherhood is. A wound.
I feel sorry for the dads.
Because fatherhood is so much more than whatever grievance theater the Times is packaging for its perpetually aggrieved readers.
My father is everything to me. He is the reason my sisters and I are who we are. He is a sounding board, an equalizer, the calm in our chaotic female storm. He sends Bible verses and spontaneous motivational texts, always followed by &#8220;I love you.&#8221; When I come to him with a car question, a finance question, a &#8220;how do I do this&#8221; — he responds in seconds, putting down his own work without a second thought. In return for my thanks that can never adequately be expressed, he shoots back the simple thumbs-up emoji. Because his unending support isn’t a favor. It’s just part of the job.
He taught us patience. He taught us kindness. He once told me his whole philosophy was to just &#8220;smile at people — makes them feel good.&#8221; He is most content after a day tending to his chickens and his yard, gathered around the dinner table with all his girls.
He is our everything. He is needed and he is wanted. And I will never — not for one solitary minute — allow a loveless, liberal newspaper to belittle his glory.

Embattled Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico has openly credited a controversial activist theologian with helping shape his political and religious worldview.
During a March 2021 podcast appearance, Talarico enthusiastically praised theologian Robyn Henderson-Espinoza, describing himself as a &#8220;fan boy&#8221; and crediting Henderson-Espinoza&#8217;s work with influencing his thinking.
&#8220;When you started following me on Twitter, I couldn&#8217;t contain my inner fan boy, because I read your book last year and it continues to inspire me and y&#8217;all&#8217;s work continues to inspire me,&#8221; Talarico said. He went on to argue that aspects of his own identity limited his imagination, saying, &#8220;my whiteness, my masculinity, all those things limit my imagination about what&#8217;s possible. And that&#8217;s where your book helps me do that.&#8221;
Talarico has spent much of the last several months attempting to explain away a series of past remarks that Republicans have characterized as excessively leftist, including statements that &#8220;God is non-binary,&#8221; suggestions that there are six biological sexes, and arguments that the Bible does not prohibit abortion.
While Talarico has recently described some of his older remarks as &#8220;cringey,&#8221; his praise for Henderson-Espinoza provides insight into some of the intellectual influences behind those statements.
Talarico specifically referenced Henderson-Espinoza&#8217;s 2019 book &#8220;Activist Theology,&#8221; which argues for a form of Christianity centered on political activism and opposition to what the author describes as &#8220;interlocking supremacies.&#8221; Henderson-Espinoza later expanded those themes in the 2022 book &#8220;Body Becoming: A Path to Our Liberation,&#8221; which advances a vision of faith rooted in social justice and liberation politics.
Henderson-Espinoza, who goes by “<a href="https://juicyecumenism.com/2023/06/12/roberto-che-espinoza/">Roberto Che Espinoza</a>,” is an activist theologian, author, professor, and ordained minister who identifies as transgender, &#8220;non-binary,&#8221; and &#8220;TransQueer Latinx.&#8221; A longtime figure in Left-wing academic and activist circles, Henderson-Espinoza has served as a visiting professor at Duke Divinity School and founded the Activist Theology Project, an organization that describes itself as bringing together theologians, activists, social-change advocates, and political organizers.
The project&#8217;s stated mission extends far beyond traditional ministry, positioning itself at the intersection of religion, activism, and political organizing.
Her work pushes well beyond even what many would consider “progressive Christianity.” In a 2018 academic paper, Henderson-Espinoza called for &#8220;transing religion&#8221; as a way to dismantle traditional understandings of sex, gender, and theology. The paper argued for breaking down what Henderson-Espinoza described as religious &#8220;binarisms&#8221; and challenged longstanding Christian teachings on complementarity and human nature.
Henderson-Espinoza has also described the Bible as &#8220;trans-positive,&#8221; referred to transgender individuals as &#8220;Easter icons,&#8221; and argued that traditional theological categories should be reimagined through the lens of queer theory and liberationist activism.
In interviews, Henderson-Espinoza has argued that even “progressive Christianity” does not go far enough. Speaking with The Nation, Henderson-Espinoza rejected the label of &#8220;progressive Christian,&#8221; arguing that the movement remains too influenced by liberalism and individualism and fails to sufficiently challenge what she calls systems of oppression and &#8220;whiteness.&#8221;
Instead, Henderson-Espinoza identifies as a &#8220;liberationist,&#8221; both politically and theologically, viewing Christianity primarily through the lens of social activism and liberation movements rather than doctrine or institutional tradition. That worldview has led Henderson-Espinoza to openly dismiss many traditional priorities of organized religion. In the same interview, Henderson-Espinoza argued that relationships should take priority over doctrine and dogma and stated, &#8220;I&#8217;m not an institutionalist &#8230; and I&#8217;m not here to preserve the institutional church.&#8221;
Rather than preserving churches or defending theological orthodoxy, Henderson-Espinoza has argued that Christians should focus on activism, social change, and challenging existing institutions. Her political activism has mirrored those views. Henderson-Espinoza has opposed legislation preventing trans-identifying boys from competing in girls&#8217; sports, criticized parental notification policies involving students who identify as transgender, and frequently incorporates progressive political causes into sermons, public appearances, and academic work.
Those positions have made Henderson-Espinoza a celebrated figure among activists and Left-wing religious circles while drawing criticism from more traditional Christians.
For Talarico, however, Henderson-Espinoza was not merely a public figure he admired from afar. By his own admission, the theologian&#8217;s writings, activism, and worldview helped expand his political imagination and served as a source of inspiration during his rise within Texas Democratic politics.
As Republicans continue highlighting Talarico&#8217;s past comments on faith, gender, and sexuality, that relationship is likely to face increased scrutiny as voters evaluate the influences that helped shape the Democratic nominee&#8217;s worldview.

Critics have been saying almost since the beginning that the transgender movement is erasing women — but The New York Times celebrated Father&#8217;s Day by proving they&#8217;re erasing men too.
The <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/21/opinion/trans-dad-parenting-fathers-day.html?smid=url-share">article</a> in question, a guest essay titled &#8220;To My Daughter, My Gender Was Never Complicated,&#8221; was published on Sunday morning — just in time for Father&#8217;s Day — and used a comic strip style to explore the trials and travails of a trans-identifying woman&#8217;s foray into &#8220;fatherhood.&#8221;
The frames reveal that the author, Zach Ellams, had been identifying as male for years, but had not officially announced to everyone that she was trans — but once she had a daughter, she had to learn to talk about things, in part because her daughter asked questions in public that made it necessary.
In one frame, while at a public pool, the daughter drew stares by asking, &#8220;How did you grow a mustache if you were a lady?&#8221;
In another, the daughter announced after school, &#8220;I told my friends at school that Mom made you a cake when you got your surgery.&#8221;
The moral of the story, as the article played out, was that the daughter was ultimately so accepting of her gender that she realized it was adults who made things complicated — and that helped her to &#8220;embrace&#8221; her male identity.
Critics were not impressed by the paper&#8217;s editorial choices for Father&#8217;s Day, however, and said so.
&#8220;This is what the @nytimes went with for Fathers Day. A cartoon &#8216;essay&#8217; by a trans &#8216;dad,'&#8221; XX/XY Athletics founder Jennifer Sey <a href="https://x.com/JenniferSey/status/2068719772670505013">commented</a>.

New York Times Celebrates Father’s Day By Erasing Men

The federal government is suing an infamous transgender medical activist group and alleging it has deceived the public about the harms of child sex changes to make a profit.
The Federal Trade Commission announced it&#8217;s suing the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) over allegations the group made &#8220;false and unsubstantiated claims&#8221; that made it possible for medical providers to &#8220;sell&#8221; child sex-change interventions to the public, according to a <a href="https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/news/press-releases/2026/06/ftc-states-sue-world-professional-association-transgender-health-over-deceptive-claims-regarding-treatment-children">press release</a>.
“Today, the FTC filed a lawsuit against WPATH alleging that the organization made false and unsubstantiated claims regarding the necessity, effectiveness, and safety of puberty blockers, hormones and sex-change surgeries,” said FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson in a press release. “Children, but especially their parents, must have complete and truthful information when making decisions to purchase medical services.&#8221;
Alaska, Iowa, Nebraska, and Texas are also named plaintiffs in the <a href="https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/WPATH-Complaint-Redacted.pdf">lawsuit</a>, which alleges WPATH has &#8220;deceived many consumers&#8221; into believing its highly influential medical guidance, called the Standards of Care version 8 (SOC-8), was based on strong scientific evidence. Health care systems, governments, and health insurers have used the SOC-8 to claim pediatric medical transition services are &#8220;medically necessary,&#8221; and fueled the rapid growth of the child sex-change industry, while WPATH failed to properly disclose the harms of child sex-change interventions.
&#8220;The success of WPATH’s systematic efforts to expand eligibility for transition services to children in order to profit its members is difficult to overstate. Through the SOC and its other efforts, WPATH has created and currently sustains a lucrative industry of pediatric medical transition services,&#8221; states the lawsuit. &#8220;Between 2017 and 2021, the number of children who were diagnosed yearly with distress about their sex traits in the U.S. nearly tripled from around 15,000 in 2017 to about 42,000 in 2021.&#8221;
The lawsuit notes that WPATH’s membership is predominantly made up of healthcare providers who profit from gender-confused children receiving harmful sex-change interventions.
Kurt Miceli, M.D., Chief Medical Officer at Do No Harm, told The Daily Wire he applauds the action taken by Chairman Ferguson.
&#8220;We applaud Chairman Ferguson for taking decisive action against the engine of the transgender industrial machine, WPATH,&#8221; Miceli told The Daily Wire. &#8220;By falsely portraying pediatric gender transition as a lifesaving intervention, this activist organization promoted a narrative that irreversible, life-altering procedures were the only viable option for gender-confused children.&#8221;
WPATH&#8217;s recommendations that children receive irreversible medical interventions are based on low-quality scientific evidence and deceptive practices, according to the lawsuit. WPATH disregarded scientific protocols, was influenced by politics, and had the goal of ensuring child sex-change procedures would be covered by health insurance plans while crafting its medical guidance, according to the lawsuit. Despite these practices, the organization continued to promote itself as the &#8220;de facto authority&#8221; on transgender medicine.
&#8220;WPATH’s representations have further deceived many consumers into believing that its treatment guidelines are based on strong evidence derived from scientific methods,&#8221; the lawsuit states. &#8220;WPATH crafted the SOC with the explicit goal of guaranteeing that insurers would classify medical transition services as medically necessary and therefore covered by their insurance plans.&#8221;
The 123-page lawsuit references several declarations from detransitioners who have been physically harmed by gender medicine and continue to live with the physical and emotional pain caused by gender medicine.
&#8220;WPATH reinforced that narrative by removing nearly all age limits on sex rejecting surgeries for minors, suppressing the systematic evidence reviews it had commissioned, and failing to disclose adverse side effects associated with certain pediatric medical transition interventions,&#8221; Miceli told The Daily Wire. &#8220;Now, WPATH will answer for its deception in court. Let this be a lesson to the remaining medical associations propping up the transgender industry: you will be held accountable.&#8221;
