What happens when an organization founded to preserve history decides it can no longer preserve the very definitions upon which it was founded?
Recently, at its Continental Congress, the Daughters of the American Revolution rejected a proposed bylaw amendment that would have defined &#8220;woman&#8221; for purposes of membership. <a href="https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2026/jun/27/daughters-american-revolution-defeats-proposal-block-transgender/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2026/jun/27/daughters-american-revolution-defeats-proposal-block-transgender/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1784134832324000&amp;usg=AOvVaw38iW2zXCsc3k1_fWIVsA6z">The resolution read</a>: “Resolved, That in Article III, Section 1 of the Bylaws, the term ‘woman’ shall be understood to clearly mean a woman who was born female, and therefore, individuals who were born male shall not be eligible for membership.” By rejecting this bylaw amendment, the organization chose not to adopt language that supporters believed would preserve DAR as a female-only organization.
In the days that followed the vote, many chapters expressed disappointment with both the outcome and the organization&#8217;s response. The official DAR message failed to address their central concern over whether the organization intends to remain a space for women only.
If you’re not in DAR, it’s easy at first glance to give this a “so what?”
DAR exists to preserve history, and, ironically, an organization dedicated to preserving truth about the past is now struggling to acknowledge objective reality in the present. But bigger than that, it represents one more step in a broader cultural movement where we are asking — rather, guilting — women to surrender spaces created specifically for them.
Created to preserve American history and uphold constitutional ideals, DAR was founded by women in 1890. The organization exists and is deeply rooted in service because descendants accepted a responsibility to preserve these ideals, not merely sit in the privilege of being born of them. That calling comes with the responsibility to acknowledge hard truths.
My own journey into DAR wasn’t easy. It took years of genealogical research alongside my grandmother, gathering documentation and verifying lineage. I originally intended to join under the lineage of Oliver Wolcott on my maternal grandfather’s side, linking me to the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This was complicated by a courthouse fire where all records were destroyed, so I opted to take the path of joining under my maternal grandmother, a path where the documents were easier to find. This linked me to some horse thieves instead, but, hey, they were patriots nonetheless. Every document I located felt like another thread reconnecting my family to the American story. There were so many hoops I had to jump through, and the deeper I dug, the more I appreciated that patriotism is not merely inherited; it is cultivated through understanding the sacrifices that came before us, and that patriotism and our history must be preserved — the good and the bad.
DAR asks its members to honor historical truth. Every application depends upon documents that cannot be altered to fit our preferences. Birth records matter. Marriage records matter. Death records matter. Genealogy is built on objective facts. Historical preservation depends upon objective facts. If those two things are true, why is it not expected that women’s organizations should likewise depend upon objective definitions? If an organization explicitly dedicated to historical accuracy cannot maintain a clear distinction between a man and a woman, both equally important to our society in their own right, that organization risks undermining its own credibility.
DAR was created by women. Women built it. Women have sustained it for generations. Women deserve organizations created specifically for women, and DAR itself is part of women&#8217;s history. At a time when women had few opportunities to lead national civic organizations, these women built one of their own. Preserving that legacy is itself an act of historical preservation.
Increasingly, women are told that maintaining female-only spaces is exclusionary rather than legitimate. The burden has shifted from explaining why men should enter women&#8217;s organizations to explaining why women should have organizations of their own. For women, it is a burdensome responsibility to explain routinely why we matter and why we uniquely bring value. Supporting women&#8217;s spaces is not hostility or hate toward anyone else.
DAR is not without real historical failures. Black women were wrongly excluded despite qualifying ancestry — an incorrect decision that took us far too long as an organization to rectify. And now, we face another one of those moments where we are failing women, women whose ancestors were the reason our nation exists today.
The question before today&#8217;s DAR is whether an organization founded by and for women should remain one. In the pursuit of making every institution open to everyone, we risk forgetting that some institutions exist precisely because they were created to serve a particular purpose.
One of my favorite stories from DAR came during my first visit to its museum in Washington, D.C. Displayed prominently is one of President James Monroe&#8217;s 1817 armchairs. After the chair was sold from the White House grounds in the 19th century, it eventually found its way into DAR&#8217;s collection. Years later, when the White House sought to reacquire pieces of its original furnishings, DAR refused to part with it. The women who said that chair belonged with DAR felt their responsibility was not to surrender history for cash, but to safeguard it for future generations — an edict they would never abandon. I cannot help but wonder what those women would think of today&#8217;s debate over preserving the organization&#8217;s own identity.
Women who believe this decision departs from the organization&#8217;s founding purpose must stand up and speak out about it. Courage requires speaking up when it is uncomfortable. I do not relish this controversy. I do not like the copious amount of hate I receive because I believe in the importance of protecting women and our spaces, but the courage to do what is right and just means speaking unpopular truths.
The women who founded DAR understood that preserving history required courage. Sometimes that courage meant preserving stories that were uncomfortable. Today, it means preserving truths that are unpopular. Institutions are not preserved through silence but through conviction.
When an organization founded to preserve history decides it can no longer preserve the very definitions upon which it was founded, we already know what happens. Institutions slowly lose sight of the very purpose they were created to preserve. If we cannot, and will not, preserve the truths closest to us, we should not be surprised when future generations stop trusting us to preserve the truths of those who came before us.

A Historic Women’s Organization Couldn’t Define ‘Woman’

Wellesley College in Massachusetts is a member of the “Seven Sisters” – a group of highly-selective all-women’s colleges that was founded to give women an Ivy League education when such institutions were reserved for men. But today, Wellesley is admitting biological men who identify as women.
This is why my organization, Defending Education (DE), filed a <a href="https://defendinged.org/complaints/defending-education-files-civil-rights-complaint-against-wellesley-college-for-violations-of-title-ix/">civil rights complaint</a> with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights: because this “sister” just violated Title IX in the name of “inclusivity.”
DE’s complaint underscores the ultimate irony of the modern gender movement: universities formed to empower women have made the conscious decision to validate males instead.
Historically, enrollment at a Seven Sisters’ school was a sign of female excellence and independence. It was an honor reserved for the most impressive American women.
Today, it means being forced to forgo your comfort (and possibly your safety) because your school values the feelings of men over yours. It means mandatory sharing of dormitories, locker rooms, bathrooms, and sports teams with biological males – assuming, of course, that a boy didn’t steal your admission spot in the first place.
It’s shameful that Wellesley College has retained the privileges and title of an “all women’s” institution, despite abandoning its founding principles.
The school’s 2015 decision to admit biological men runs completely counter to its mission to “educate women who will make a difference.” Women seeking a female-only environment are being betrayed by the very people entrusted with the college’s legacy.
Our complaint notes that Wellesley College is in clear violation of Title IX requirements necessary for single-sex status and federal funding; its decision to admit biological men – and simultaneously decline admission to biological women who identify as men – is discrimination on the basis of sex, pure and simple.
And given the $12 million in federal support Wellesley receives every year, perhaps the school should have considered the impact that flouting anti-discrimination laws might have on its bottom line.
Last May, Defending Education filed an Office for Civil Rights complaint against another Seven Sisters school, Smith College, for also admitting biological men. DE’s complaint highlighted Smith College’s blatant disregard for Title IX’s protections for single sex spaces, President Trump’s recent executive orders banning gender ideology, and federal caselaw that affirms the need for single-sex spaces. Our complaint also noted that Smith College is policing women’s speech to prioritize policies that erase women – and protections for them – entirely.
We were gratified when the Education Department’s Office for Civil Rights opened an investigation into Smith College earlier this year – and it’s our hope that the Department might take a hard look at Wellesley College as well.
We’ve filed these complaints with the goal of ending the Seven Sisters’ erasure of women and encouraging them to uphold their founding values. In addition to Smith and Wellesley, Mount Holyoke College, Bryn Mawr, and Barnard College also allow biological men who identify as “transgender women” to enroll and share private spaces with biological women. Like Smith and Wellesley, these schools receive millions of dollars in federal funding and commit themselves to upholding the law when they do so.
These policies drive home the fact that gender activists continue to wield a heavy grip on American public life – despite the Trump administration’s valiant efforts – and that sustained effort is needed to dismantle these policies from coast to coast.
When the gender activism wave washed over America nearly two decades ago, many major corporations and educational institutions were bullied into eliminating female-only protections and spaces in the name of inclusivity. Today, an increasing number of Americans finally recognize the truth: that this prioritization of gender ideology over women’s rights is unfair, unsafe, and illegal.
Polling by the New York Times in 2025 found that nearly 80% of Americans (including 67% of Democrats) opposed biological men competing in women&#8217;s sports, while Pew found that almost <a href="https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2025/02/26/americans-have-grown-more-supportive-of-restrictions-for-trans-people-in-recent-years/">50% of Americans</a> support determining admittance to female-only spaces based on biological sex, compared to just 26% of Americans who disagree. And nationwide, many major corporations are <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/conormurray/2025/04/11/ibm-reportedly-walks-back-diversity-policies-citing-inherent-tensions-here-are-all-the-companies-rolling-back-dei-programs/">backing away from DEI initiatives</a> and gender ideology as they sense public opinion turning on the issue.
Despite this broader societal backlash, institutions like Wellesley College remain captured by fringe activists – which is why decisive action by the federal government is needed to hold bad actors accountable.
DE’s complaint regarding Wellesley, and the ongoing federal investigation into Smith College, are designed to both protect female students and to send a clear message to schools everywhere: if you choose to prioritize gender activism over safety, fairness, and the law, there will be consequences.

WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump&#8217;s administration nuked a Biden-era rule requiring children struggling with gender issues to be placed with pro-LGBTQ families, The Daily Wire can first report.
On Tuesday morning, the Department of Health and Human Services&#8217; Administration for Children and Families officially removed the April 2024 rule, which required federal agencies to ensure children who &#8220;self identify with an alternative sexual orientation or self-identify as something other than their sex in foster care&#8221; are placed with families who would affirm that identity.
&#8220;The message that we think it sends is that all families are welcome,&#8221; Assistant Secretary Alex Adams explained in a phone interview with The Daily Wire. &#8220;We have too few foster families nationally. We must roll out the red carpet, and we must ensure that there&#8217;s homes waiting on kids, not kids waiting on homes.&#8221;
Though the Biden rule never actually took effect since it was vacated by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, the Trump administration is removing the provisions that remain in the Code of Federal Regulations to &#8220;ensure clarity,&#8221; a final nail in the coffin of the effort.
Adams explained to The Daily Wire that the move builds on first lady Melania Trump&#8217;s &#8220;Fostering the Future&#8221; initiative and related executive order charting a &#8220;whole-of-government approach to improving child welfare and foster care.&#8221; Part of this is Adams&#8217;s &#8220;Home for Every Child&#8221; campaign, which focuses on increasing the ratio of foster homes to foster kids.
&#8220;Nationally, we have a shortage,&#8221; he explained. &#8220;We only have 57 homes for every 100 kids coming in, so we can and must do better to ensure that there&#8217;s enough homes for kids because when there&#8217;s not enough homes, kids end up in short-term rentals, hotels, government office spaces, etc.&#8221;
Families most likely to step forward and offer to foster children are those with sincerely held religious beliefs and moral convictions, Adams said, arguing that the message that HHS sends to families of faith is extremely important since it will &#8220;either make or break your recruitment and your retention of existing foster homes.&#8221;
&#8220;The 2024 designated placement rule was one of those things that we think sent the wrong message,&#8221; he explained. &#8220;It would have segmented families into those that are &#8216;LGBTQ-friendly&#8217; and those that are not.&#8221;

The <a href="https://pcusa.org/news-storytelling/news/2026/6/3/ga227s-gender-and-sexuality-justice-committee-consider-wide-swath-proposals-many-related-healthcare">Presbyterian Church USA</a> (PCUSA) voted last week to support access to &#8220;all medically necessary, evidence-based gender-affirming healthcare&#8221; for all individuals, including minors.
Presented by the <a href="https://www.cherokeepresbytery.org/">Cherokee Presbytery</a> during the 227th General Assembly, the overture builds on the PCUSA’s existing non-discrimination policy regarding gender identity and sexual orientation by declaring support for access to “gender-affirming healthcare.” The organization views the <a href="https://www.kff.org/lgbtq/gender-affirming-care-policy-tracker/">27 states</a> banning or limiting youth’s access to life-altering gender procedures as banning “healthcare for minors.” 
The Cherokee Presbytery presented the overture: “Declare that the PCUSA supports all individuals, including minors, to have access to all medically necessary, evidence-based gender-affirming healthcare.”
<a href="https://www.christianpost.com/news/pcusa-declares-support-for-trans-surgeries-for-kids.html">Rev. Olivia Lane</a>, moderator of the 227th General Assembly’s Gender and Sexuality Justice Committee, explained that the committee removed the phrase “including minors” from the final text due to concerns that it would be “weaponized to cause further harm to the very children it named.” 
Lane clarified that “all individuals means exactly that. All, without exception, without qualification, and without age limit.”
The “rationale” behind Cherokee Presbytery’s overture states that there are roughly 1.6 million transgender individuals aged 13 and older in the United States. 
“As of April 2024, 38%, or 113,900 trans youth aged 13-17 are living in the 24 states that have passed bans on gender-affirming care,” the <a href="https://myga.pc-biz.org/search/3001421">rationale said</a>. 
The rationale asserted that these statistics do not include the “thousands of pre-teen youths who could benefit from hormone blockers to prevent these individuals from going through the ‘wrong’ puberty” — a statement that contradicts <a href="https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew%2019%3A3-5&amp;version=CSB">multiple </a><a href="https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%20139%3A13&amp;version=CSBA">passages</a> in the Bible.
“Gender-affirming care is age-appropriate care that is medically necessary and evidence based for the well-being of many transgender, non-binary, and gender-expansive people who experience symptoms of gender dysphoria or distress that result from having one’s gender identity not match their sex assigned at birth,” according to the rationale.
However, the argument that transgender surgeries are medically necessary or help patients has been <a href="https://www.heritage.org/gender/commentary/sex-reassignment-doesnt-work-here-the-evidence">proven false</a> for <a href="https://www.thepublicdiscourse.com/2020/02/60143/">some time</a>. <a href="https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0016885">One study</a> found that “sex-reassigned persons,” in comparison to those maintaining their biological sex, had higher rates of suicide, higher suicide attempts, and increased need for psychiatric inpatient care.

LGBTQ activists in Seattle believe a sharp influx of transgender young adults is causing a civil emergency — and they want taxpayer help.
The <a href="https://www.seattle.gov/lgbtq" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Seattle LGBTQ Commission</a> asked Mayor Katie Wilson in a May 2026<a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DYfRlKWm3yM/?img_index=2&amp;igsh=MWRkd2toYWwwNjdnMQ%3D%3D" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> letter</a> to declare a civil emergency caused by a mass influx of “transgender and gender-nonconforming” individuals relocating to the city. The commission has asked the city officials to fund cash-strapped LGBTQ+ groups providing shelter and relocation services to transgender refugees.
&#8220;Due to the rapid influx of 2SLGBTQIA+ persons seeking refuge in Seattle for increased safety needs, civil rights protections, and access to essential services the Seattle LGBTQ Commission formally recommends that City leaders declare a civil emergency that ensures an effective and empathetic response to protecting these internally displaced persons (IDPs) at a time of urgent crisis for our community,&#8221; states the letter.
Transplants are coming to Seattle from red states such as Texas, Florida, Tennessee, Kansas, and Idaho &#8220;due to anti-trans legislation, threats to personal safety, and barriers to healthcare and legal recognition,&#8221; according to the letter, which lists several transgender-affirming groups  &#8220;already responding to this crisis.&#8221; The listed groups include Gender Justice League, Seattle&#8217;s LGBTQ+ Center, and Traction, a nonprofit that helps &#8220;red state refugees&#8221; relocate to the Pacific Northwest through its<a href="https://tractionpnw.org/open-arms/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Project Open Arms</a> initiative.
&#8220;Hundreds of thousands of Two-Spirit, transgender, nonbinary, gender-diverse, and gender-nonconforming (trans+) people and their families are seeking to escape legislative persecution and violence,&#8221; states Traction&#8217;s<a href="https://tractionpnw.org/open-arms/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> website</a>. &#8220;Our goal then and now is to support U.S. &#8216;transplants&#8217; – trans+ people and their loved ones displaced by violence and persecution – seeking safer, more welcoming places to live.&#8221;
C. Michael Woodward, executive director of Traction, told The Daily Wire it&#8217;s had more than 1600 applicants for relocation services since President Trump&#8217;s election but has only been able to help around 130 individuals move, due to resource limitations.
&#8220;I&#8217;m 63 and transitioned nearly 30 years ago. I&#8217;ve been doing trans+ and LGBTQ+ advocacy for almost that long, too,&#8221; Woodward told The Daily Wire. &#8220;Even so, I never once imagined we&#8217;d be doing this kind of work for our community, but here we are.&#8221;
Woodward said the group does not work with unaccompanied minors and has not been &#8220;presented with the opportunity to work with any emancipated youth&#8221; but would &#8220;handle those on a case-by-case basis.&#8221;
Traction is working to build &#8220;a nationwide network of groups doing similar work in other states,&#8221; according to its <a href="https://tractionpnw.org/open-arms/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a>.

Many of Seattle’s transgender transplants are “young adults,” according to<a href="https://www.seattle.gov/lgbtq/who-we-are" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Kody Allen</a>, co-chair of the Seattle LGBTQ Commission and a social worker at a youth homeless shelter, who spoke on a panel about 2SLGBTQIA+ Communities in Seattle at a June 25, 2026,<a href="https://www.seattlechannel.org/mayor-and-council/city-council/2026-2027-select-committee-on-federal-administration-and-policy-changes?videoid=x188271" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> city council meeting</a>.
&#8220;In my day job, I am a program manager for a homeless shelter. We have seen a massive increase in trans&#8211;specifically&#8211;and queer young adults who are coming here from other states,&#8221; said Allen. &#8220;We are turning away 10, at least 10 young adults a night, and we are the biggest shelter in the city. And many, many, many of our clients are trans refugees who have come here.&#8221;
The meeting focused on how changes in federal policy have impacted local funding. Members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ panel discussed how Seattle could build long-term infrastructure to provide social services, such as housing, to the city&#8217;s growing number of transgender refugees. Allen warned groups that provide &#8220;queer&#8221; and &#8220;trans specific healthcare&#8221; are facing a funding crisis and may not be able to stay open throughout the year.
&#8220;If these community-based organizations that are specifically for queer people close, the impact that would have, obviously on the people who use those services, but also every other community-based organization in the city who are also experiencing decreased funding because of the federal&#8211;this federal administration&#8211;would put a huge strain on the system,&#8221; Allen stated.
Dominque Stephens, who was <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DVsCsq_DAG_/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">appointed</a> by Mayor Wilson as Seattle&#8217;s special advisor on LGBTQ+ affairs, told city council the Mayor&#8217;s office was planning to create transgender homeless shelters.
&#8220;We want to make sure that we&#8217;re doing this in a very intentional way,&#8221; said Stephens. &#8220;We know that in our shelter expansion, there will be a trans specific site that will be stood up.&#8221;
Stephens explained the mayor formed a Trans and Queer Community Stabilization Interdepartmental Team to create long-term transgender infrastructure as the group figures out &#8220;what we do in terms of folks who are migrating here.&#8221;
Seattle City Councilwoman <a href="https://www.seattle.gov/council/members/alexis-mercedes-rinck" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Alexis Mercedes Rinck</a> said Seattle needed to &#8220;stand firm&#8221; in welcoming &#8220;queer and trans people.&#8221;
&#8220;Across the country we have seen intense attacks against queer and trans people, both with hostile legislation and physical violence,&#8221; said Rinck at the meeting. &#8220;So, I want to say loud and clear, while we know we have more work to do here in the city of Seattle we need to stand firm in being a welcoming city for queer and trans people.&#8221;
A total of<a href="https://familypolicyalliance.com/help-not-harm/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> 27 states</a> have passed legislation protecting minors from receiving harmful sex-rejecting medical procedures such as puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and sex-change surgeries.
Washington State took a major step towards becoming a transgender sanctuary for minors when former Governor Jay Inslee <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/washington-to-allow-shelters-to-keep-runaway-children-from-parents-if-child-seeking-transgender-surgery-abortion?row=0&amp;elementPosition=1&amp;rowType=Web+Search+Overlay" target="_blank" rel="noopener">signed SB 5599</a> into law in May 2023.  The law allows homeless shelters to shield runaway minors seeking transgender medical procedures without contacting their parents. International Partners for Ethical Care Inc. filed a lawsuit challenging SB 5599 in<a href="https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/67697823/international-partners-for-ethical-care-inc-v-inslee/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> August 2023</a>, arguing it violates the fundamental rights of parents. After being dismissed by a lower court, the Supreme Court announced in June 2026 that it would<a href="https://aflegal.org/press-release/u-s-supreme-court-agrees-to-hear-america-first-legals-landmark-case-defending-parents-right-to-challenge-laws-that-hide-their-childrens-gender-transitions/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> hear the case on appeal</a>.
&#8220;SB 5599 is directed toward families in Washington state, and sets up a terrifying scenario for parents whose kids have fallen prey to gender ideology,&#8221; a representative from International Partners for Ethical Care told The Daily Wire. &#8220;A child can run away from home in Washington to seek &#8216;gender affirming care&#8217; and the state authorities or shelters where the child may be found are not required by law to notify the parents of the child&#8217;s whereabouts with any urgency.&#8221;
Florida, Idaho, and 14 other red states filed an amicus brief to the Supreme Court in support of the plaintiffs. The coalition of states expressed concerns the law could impact parents across state lines, writing they &#8220;fear that their own residents whose runaway children cross state lines may be harmed by Washington’s law&#8221; in the<a href="https://www.supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/25/25-840/396471/20260217151332802_Intl%20Partners%20v.%20Ferguson%20-%20Amicus%20Brief%20for%20Filing.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> brief</a>.
International Partners for Ethical Care agreed the law could impact parents nationwide, telling The Daily Wire, &#8220;Nothing in the law&#8217;s language that would prevent it from being applied to children who arrive in Washington from other states.&#8221;
The Daily Wire asked the Seattle LGBTQ Commission and Mayor Wilson&#8217;s office for information on how many of the transgender refugees were 18 and under but did not receive a comment. Mayor Wilson did not provide any additional information on the transgender shelter expansion project discussed at the city council meeting.

The Smithsonian National Museum of American History pushes left-wing activism, featuring bizarre displays including chest binders, a crotch harness, and the diary of a gender-confused girl, according to a scathing White House report released Monday. 
The Trump administration’s Domestic Policy Council released a 162-page <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Smithsonian-Report-Saving-Americas-Story.pdf">report</a> concluding that the Smithsonian “fails in the basic task of illuminating our heritage” and instead promotes woke political causes. The report argues that the museum portrays the Founding Fathers primarily through the lens of slavery while marginalizing their broader influence on the nation&#8217;s founding.  
“Our central finding is not that the Museum has simply added overlooked stories, corrected perceived errors, or broadened its historical scope,” the report found. “Rather, it is that Museum leadership has explicitly adopted an ideological framework that no longer treats the American story as a shared national inheritance to be taught or celebrated, but as a political instrument to divide, dispirit, and discourage our citizens.”
Anthea Hartig, the director of the National Museum of American History, has previously <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxKVJ1pYcEw&amp;t=2484s">said</a> that she wants to use the museum to “advance social justice” and <a href="https://americanhistory.si.edu/press/releases/slaverys-shadow-george-floyd-and-american-legacies-anthea-m-hartig-elizabeth">wanted</a> to “work to reframe the traditional, celebratory narrative of U.S. history for visitors”
Hartig has also made derogatory statements about “whiteness,” claiming that she was propped up “by the cushions of whiteness and the pillows of the bourgeoisie.” 
The report highlighted past <a href="https://americanhistory.si.edu/explore/exhibitions/gay-history-beyond-stonewall/online/how-far-will-you-go">displays</a> that included a crotch harness accompanied by a description of clothing being used as “acts of resistance as well as self-identity” for the LGBTQ movement, a chest binder that belonged to a transgender-identifying skateboarder, and a diary page from a young girl who wrote that she prayed &#8220;every night for my penis to grow.&#8221;

It also cites displays suggesting it was discriminatory to keep boys who identify as girls out of female sports and videos featuring drag queens.
According to the report, museum staff also pushed an &#8220;anti-racist&#8221; toolkit encouraging employees to “confront whiteness” by “making the case for inclusion.&#8221;
The report criticizes the museum&#8217;s treatment of the nation&#8217;s founders, arguing that visitors &#8220;will find no major exhibits dedicated to America&#8217;s Founding era,&#8221; George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, other Founding Fathers, the Continental Congress, the Pilgrims, the Puritans, or major moments of the American Revolution&#8230;  
“Instead, visitors will find Founders, such as Benjamin Franklin, introduced chiefly through their connection to slavery while their decisive roles in building the Republic and their anti-slavery efforts are minimized or ignored,” the report found.
A Smithsonian spokesman told The Daily Wire that it has ”served the American public with nonpartisan and independent scholarship, and we remain committed to doing so.&#8221;

New York City&#8217;s freshly-inked <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/07/01/us-news/mamdanis-nypd-cops-cut-blindsided-city-council-leaving-lawmakers-bracing-for-other-surprises-in-126b-budget-they-passed/">$126 billion budget</a> shows exactly where Mayor Zohran Mamdani&#8217;s priorities lie — and it&#8217;s not with the men and women who served in uniform.
The City Council, with Mamdani&#8217;s sign-off, carved out roughly $7 million for so-called &#8220;trans equity&#8221; initiatives, including $6.45 million funneled to a laundry list of LGBT advocacy groups and another $40,000 specifically earmarked for &#8220;Drag Story Hour&#8221; programs in city schools and libraries, The New York Post<a href="https://nypost.com/2026/07/01/us-news/nyc-budget-funnels-7m-to-transgender-programs-drag-story-hours"> reports</a>. Council Speaker Julie Menin alone kicked in $10,000 for drag readings in her district, while six other council members, Shaun Abreu, Tiffany Caban, Julie Won, Shahana Hanif, Gale Brewer and Crystal Hudson, chipped in $5,000 each.
Meanwhile, over in the Department of Veterans&#8217; Services, the story is the opposite: a <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/veteran-services-face-1-million-cut-under-zohran-mamdanis-nyc-budget-11952694">roughly $1 million cut</a>, shrinking the department&#8217;s budget from about $7.6 million to $6.6 million — a drop of more than 13 percent. The mayor&#8217;s plan would also scrap the &#8220;Homecoming of Heroes&#8221; ticker tape parade in favor of a cheaper substitute march, and trim funding for annual events honoring former service members by about $60,000 a year through 2030.
Put plainly: the city is spending more on gender-identity programming and drag performances than it&#8217;s spending on services for the roughly 200,000 veterans who call New York home.

Critics wasted no time pointing out the math. State Conservative Party Chairman Gerard Kassar questioned why police funding lags while cash flows toward what he called fringe initiatives, saying, “Why isn’t there more money for police? There are countless dollars going toward extreme, far-out programs. This goes way beyond recognizing transgender individuals into spending millions of taxpayer dollars to promote transgenderism.”
Nassau County Executive and GOP gubernatorial hopeful Bruce Blakeman echoed, “Only in [Democratic Gov.] Kathy Hochul’s New York are your hard-earned tax dollars funding drag queen story hours instead of new police officers, roads, and schools. It’s a slap in the face to every New Yorker who goes to work every day to provide for their family, and it ends when I’m governor.”
Veterans advocates are similarly furious. Marine Corps veteran Osbert Orduna called the cuts insulting to disabled veterans who sacrificed for the country.
But this is par for the course for a mayor who hates what America stands for.

A man won second place and raked in over $100,000 at the World Series of Poker Ladies Championship on Monday.
Aubrey Williams, a 31-year-old professional poker player who identifies as a woman, took home $129,692 for his runner-up finish, his first six-figure win in a tournament. He bested 1,475 other competitors until losing to poker champion Skye Chen after a three-hour match.
Williams is an accomplished poker player. He won the No-Limit Hold&#8217;em Monster Stack event in 2022, bringing home $6,604, and defeated Brock Wilson for a $19,219 prize pool at another tournament. He also won Borgata Winter Poker Open $1,000 Hybrid Championship, netting $52,540. 
Nevada gaming regulations authorize players based on legal identification, allowing Williams to play unrestricted in the woman’s category since his license labels him as a female.
Williams was blasted by some people online for “stealing” money from women with his second-place finish.

Williams brushed off the criticism he has received online, saying he doesn’t monitor social media and that nobody in the women’s competition was upset they had to play against him. He also denied having any ulterior motives in playing in the tournament.

“Society desires nothing less than our total extermination, therefore we must destroy their society,” he wrote. “We must answer this call to an existential struggle, our jihad, our trans jihad.” 
Delaruelle previously volunteered for Democratic Socialist Katrina deVille&#8217;s campaign for Wisconsin&#8217;s 8th Congressional District. DeVille is on the ballot in the upcoming Democratic primary in August. Both Delaruelle and deVille identify as transgender women.
DeVille told the New York Post that Delaruelle volunteered only briefly before being removed because he was “deeply troubled.” 
The candidate said he blocked Delaruelle from all of his social media accounts because Delaruelle was &#8220;actively creating a dangerous situation around my campaign.”
“I want to be clear that I do not accept or condone violence or threats toward anyone and do not encourage violence, hate, or threats of any kind,” deVille said.
The Republican Party of Brown County, Wisconsin, also <a href="https://www.facebook.com/BrownCountyRepublicanParty/videos/we-condemn-the-disturbing-video-by-local-activist-teha-delaruelle-in-which-he-op/36728968963415994/">condemned</a> Delaruelle&#8217;s remarks.

Transgender Activist Unveils A New ‘Moderate Position’: ‘Kill Your Local Republican’

Police arrested a heavily armed transgender-identifying man who they said had a history of threatening mass violence after he parked a car loaded with firearms outside a Las Vegas-area casino.
Andrew Walsh of the Las Vegas Metro Police Department said Tuesday that law enforcement arrested 36-year-old “Allison” Howlett on Saturday on multiple charges, including “threats related to an act of terrorism.” 
Howlett was arrested outside of the Sunset Station Casino in Henderson after police received a phone call from his spouse claiming that he had stolen a vehicle full of weapons and had previously threatened “to commit suicide by cop and carry out a mass shooting.”
Howlett faces charges including gun theft, theft of a car, resisting an officer with a gun, and making a threat of terrorism or false information about an act of terrorism. During a Tuesday <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUu4-95nBaw">briefing</a> on the case, officers played a recording of a person purported to be Howlett making threats of mass violence. 
“I swear to God, if the FBI doesn’t come f***ing arrest me, there’s gonna be a f***ing mass shooting,” a person reportedly identified as Howlett said in the recording. “There’s one day you’re gonna be pissing me the f*** off, and it’s gonna be the last f***ing straw.” 
Howlett has <a href="https://www.reviewjournal.com/crime/suspect-arrested-with-stockpile-of-weapons-at-sunset-station-faces-judge-3845342/?utm_campaign=widget&amp;utm_medium=section_row&amp;utm_source=homepage&amp;utm_term=Suspect%20arrested%20with%20stockpile%20of%20weapons%20at%20Sunset%20Station%20faces%20judge">denied</a> any accusations that he wanted to hurt anyone or made previous threats of mass violence. 
“Allison denied wanting to hurt anyone and denied making any prior threats to commit a mass shooting,” a police report obtained by the Las Vegas Review Journal said. “Allison stated that everyone is out to get her and are setting her up.”
Henderson Police Department Chief Reggie Rader said that Howlett was found in a vehicle outside the Sunset Station Casino on June 27 with music loudly blaring and refusing to leave the car. 
“The quick-thinking officers developed a plan to take her into custody as an opportunity arose when she reached for the water. Officers used that moment to gain control over her hands and remove her from the vehicle,” Rader said, using female pronouns for Howlett, who is listed as a male in booking records. 
Rader played footage showing several police officers surrounding the car and pulling Howlett out. Rader said that Howlett had been sitting on a handgun and had access to a fully automatic machine gun in the back seat of the vehicle. 
Investigators recovered 22 firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, including multiple handguns and rifles, in the car. Later, they found an additional 30 firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition at Howlett’s residence. 
A judge has set bail for Howlett at $500,000. A preliminary hearing date is set for July 15.

One of the nation’s top medical schools runs a program for future doctors to learn how to remove healthy body parts and construct fake genitals for gender confused adults. 
The University of Kansas Medical Center <a href="https://www.kumc.edu/school-of-medicine/academics/departments/plastic-burn-and-wound-surgery/academics/adult-comprehensive-gender-care-and-surgery-fellowship.html">offers</a> an “Adult Comprehensive Gender Care and Surgery” fellowship for medical professionals to obtain a “comprehensive experience in all clinical and academic aspects of adult gender care.” Through the program, fellows become members of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), a radical organization that has faced accusations of manipulating science for political purposes. 
The fellowship was flagged in a report shared with The Daily Wire by <a href="http://criticalrace.org/">CriticalRace.org</a>, an organization that monitors activist ideology in higher education. The report looked at how top medical schools and their medical wings promote transgender ideology through programs, initiatives, and medical care. 
“I think this report is a warning alarm being sounded that both the federal government and state governments need to pay attention to what&#8217;s actually happening,” William Jacobson, a professor at Cornell University and the founder of CriticalRace.org, told The Daily Wire. “While adults have broad power to consent to things, you cannot consent to unsound medical practices, or at least, that is not an excuse for the unsound practices.”
Fellows at the University of Kansas Medical Center, which receives millions in federal and state level funding, will be taught how to perform a vaginoplasty, a procedure where a pseudo-vagina is created on a male, oftentimes using skin from the penis. Another procedure is phalloplasty, when a fake penis is created using skin removed from other parts of the body. 
Additionally, the medical center will sponsor fellowship participants to become members of WPATH, an organization accused of twisting science to hide uncomfortable details about transgender procedures. Fellows will attend WPATH’s annual symposium. WPATH is one of the largest advocates of transgender procedures for kids. 
The fellowship at the University of Kansas Medical Center will also cover training in performing transgender chest and face surgeries, genital reconstruction surgery, “body contouring,” and other procedures like surgeries to remove a woman’s uterus. Non-surgical aspects of the fellowship involve learning about “voice/speech training,” and “social work/fertility preservation.”
In 2023, the University of Kansas Health System reported it had over 190 cases related to gender surgery. 
The University of Kansas Medical Center declined to comment.
Republicans in Kansas have moved to protect kids from transgender procedures, overriding a veto from Democratic Governor Laura Kelly. That cut off funding for any gender procedures on minors and banned doctors from doing the procedures on kids. 
The University of Kansas Medical Center was not the lone school scrutinized in CriticalRace.org’s report. Kemberlee Kaye, the managing editor of CriticalRace.org said that researchers found “a surprising number” of educational institutions that “were engaging in the sexual mutilation surgery.”
“I think the entire issue is egregious and troubling, quite frankly, and the fact that our medical schools are willingly engaging in this and promoting it,” Kaye told The Daily Wire. “These kinds of reports illuminate how deeply this pernicious ideology is entrenched in our institutions, whether it&#8217;s just the higher education programs or medical schools.”
The report found links to transgender ideology at other top institutions like the University of New Mexico and the Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center. 
The Wexner Medical Center <a href="https://wexnermedical.osu.edu/gender-affirming-care">says</a> that it is “one of only a few academic health centers in the country to offer bottom gender-affirming surgery.”

It details procedures such as carving up a person’s forehead or jaw to appear more masculine or feminine. 
“The forehead has been regarded as the most gender-defining region of the face. Cis-females tend to have lower hairlines, flat to smooth forehead contour with eyebrows that sit above the orbital rims, while cis-males are recognized by longer foreheads commonly combined with frequent hair-loss patterns,” the medical center says on its website. 
The University of New Mexico is another taxpayer-funded university that offers “gender affirming care” through its Student Health and Counseling office. The office boasts that it “offers gender affirming hormone therapy, referrals for gender affirming surgery and voice therapy, non-estrogen contraception (including LARC) for transmen/nonbinary people for pregnancy prevention if appropriate” and “routine screenings for cervical/breast/prostate cancer for people with these parts.”
The University of Arizona’s Campus Health department has a “LGBTQ+ Clinic” that <a href="https://health.arizona.edu/lgbtq-health">helps</a> gender-confused students obtain cross-sex hormones, makes transgender surgery referrals, and provides other “trans support.” 
Additionally, the university takes credit for ensuring that the student health insurance plan covers “access to medically necessary, gender-affirming health care.”

“This access to care is a crucial element to the health, academic success, and retention of transgender-identified students,” the university says. 
While many red states have advanced protections for kids from transgender procedures, some lawmakers at the state and national level have started to push for all funding and support for transgender procedures on adults to be cut off. Republicans in South Carolina recently moved to ban all public funding for transgender procedures. Shortly after, the Medical University of South Carolina ended its transgender program at all levels. 
In other states, entities like Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Tennessee have <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/after-boasting-about-40k-trans-surgeries-vanderbilt-reverses-course">shuttered</a> transgender programs. 
Kaye told The Daily Wire that federal and state lawmakers across the country need to take a closer look at what kinds of programs state funded medical institutions support and promote.

For years, saying that men and women, and that boys and girls are different, has been viewed as an act of aggression in many of America’s most elite sectors.
Yesterday, the Supreme Court treated it as what it is: the truth.
In upholding West Virginia’s and Idaho’s laws barring males from female sports, the Court held that a state “may maintain women’s and girls’ sports for biological females.” The reasoning was almost startling in its obviousness — and a fact of nature and commonsense that would have been unquestioned even two decades ago. Given the inherent physical differences between the sexes, separate teams reduce injury and secure fair competition. This is not bigotry. It is biology, and it is, at its heart, justice.
Justice Thomas, concurring, went to the root of the issue that the majority only gestured toward, and he did so contra the prevailing legal methods so fashionable today. The official positivist story is that judges exclude moral considerations from their rulings. The reality is that all judges operate from moral premises — inevitably so, often quietly, and in the background — and getting the morality right is no small matter. And Justice Thomas got it right. Sex, he wrote, is immutable and binary; men and boys with gender dysphoria are not women and girls, however sincerely they believe otherwise. That is as clear a declaration of human ontology and teleology as you will ever see in a Supreme Court ruling. That is the deeper victory here — a victory tethered to natural law. The Court did not merely side with the girls who watched a male claim their state shot put title. It sided, however modestly, with reality itself. When reason, nature, the common good, and the law converge, truth wins. That is moral sanity, and it has been in short supply.
But a ruling that vindicates the meaning and reality of sex is also a fitting occasion to warn my own side against abusing it. For even as conservatives rightly celebrate the Court’s recognition that sex is real and weighty, a faction on the right has spent recent months committing the mirror-image error — treating sex as though it settles questions it has no business settling.
The target has been Justice Amy Coney Barrett, and yesterday’s ruling on birthright citizenship is putting her gender in the crosshairs once again. Disagree with her jurisprudence on immigration and birthright citizenship all you want; that’s your prerogative. But discrediting her reasoning by appeal to her sex, or to her status as an adoptive mother — as some now do — is a category error. It is also textbook Bulverism, C.S. Lewis’s name for the trick of explaining why someone is wrong without first bothering to show that she is wrong: “you only think that because you’re a woman.”
A legal argument is sound or unsound on its own terms. The sex of the one making it has no bearing on whether it tracks with the truth. The intellect’s apprehension of reality is not indexed by sex; the human mind, male or female, is equally capable of grasping what is. Truth answers to human nature’s fittedness to reality as such — not to truth qua sex. That sex carries real teleological weight for vocation and embodiment is entirely true, and entirely beside the point here.
The adoptive-mother line some use to discredit her is even worse, because it isn’t even about her reasoning. It infers bias from biography. A judge’s conclusions stand or fall on her construction of the law — for good or for ill — not on the shape of her family. Attack the argument, or concede you haven’t got one. I’m no expert on the Constitution and immigration, and Justice Barrett may well be wrong. If she is, make the case from text and history — not from sex.
And here is the irony the moment lays bare. The progressive who insists a male can be a female denies that sex means anything fixed at all. The populist who insists Barrett rules as she does because she is a woman insists that sex means everything — that it skews the very operations of the intellect. Both are failures of the same faulty anthropology. Both refuse to see the human person as he and she actually are: embodied, sexed, and therefore genuinely different in vocation and form; yet equally rational, equally answerable to reality, equally made in the image of the God who is Truth. To suggest otherwise is to deny the ontological and epistemological equality of men and women as image-bearers of God.
The Court got the first half right today. Sex is real. It is given. It is not ours to redefine. The task now falling to conservatives is to hold the second half with the same conviction: that honoring the difference between men and women never requires pretending a woman cannot think or that her status as an adoptive mother necessarily colors her rulings. A movement that learns to say sex is real will have won an argument. A movement that also learns when sex is beside the point will have learned wisdom.
