The UK-based cosmetics brand Lush Cosmetics is all in for trans rights. But some window art at a local store has drawn the ire of breast cancer survivors, who say glorifying voluntary “gender affirming” mastectomies is just wrong.
The photo was posted earlier this month on the Facebook page “<a href="https://www.facebook.com/chelmsfordforyou">Chelmsford for You</a>,” which is dedicated to the historic city about 30 miles north of London. It was one of several store murals meant to celebrate Pride month ahead of the Essex Pride celebration on June 20. Among the expected rainbows, however, the Lush mural stood out. 
It features a tiger with the signature trans flag inspired pink and baby blue stripes, plus pink mastectomy scars. It includes text that says, “Proud of my stripes.” The Facebook account noted that the design was created by queer artist <a href="https://www.instagram.com/your_pal_bucky/">Bucky Ringsell</a>.
The responses online were very negative.
“Ugh. This is DISGUSTING,” one reaction said. “Teenage girls love to shop in your stores and here you are happily encouraging them to CUT OFF THEIR HEALTHY BREASTS in the name of trans pride. This is beyond repulsive. It&#8217;s dangerous and sick. No parent should allow their child near your stores.”

Several breast cancer survivors also weighed in on the transgender propaganda masquerading as “art.”
“As a woman who had half a breast removed last year due to cancer, I am writing to raise my concerns about your ‘Proud of My Stripes’ window display,” London-based journalist Janet Murray <a href="https://x.com/jan_murray/status/2066140253430161807">wrote</a> in an open letter to Chelmsford city council.
“I am also, on behalf of other women who have experienced breast cancer, respectfully requesting its removal,” the post continued. “Because mastectomies are not a fashion statement, an identity marker or something to be celebrated. They are something women undergo because they are ill, because they are frightened, because they are trying to stay alive.”
Murray said she’s not anti-trans and that it’s a “personal choice,” but says she still takes offense to the window display.
“I think I speak for many women who have experienced breast cancer &#8211; and for their families &#8211; when I say this: Breast removal surgery is not something I regard as cute, playful or empowering,” she added. “Nor is it something I believe retailers should be celebrating.”
She concluded by demanding that the mural be removed, a sentiment echoed by several others.
“Ditto. This is an insult to millions of women who lost their breasts to cancer,” former professional tennis player Martina Navratilova <a href="https://x.com/martina/status/2066168892502761819?s=43">wrote</a> in response to Murray’s letter. 
Lush Cosmetics has a history of fervent LGBT activism. Last fall, the company partnered with the activist group TransActual to create a 24-page illustrated book titled “Dream vs. Reality: creating a world where trans people are safe.” The company also released a pink, blue, and white “Liberation bath bomb” to raise money for trans causes. 
A <a href="https://weare.lush.com/press-releases/lush-partners-with-trans-led-groups-to-stand-up-for-trans-rights/">statement</a> at the time said, “This campaign comes from the heart of the business. Requested by our staff and led by our incredible campaign partners, it comes at a time where positive trans representation is needed to counterpoint some of the toxic narratives that have been shaping public discourse. We hope that the vision presented in this campaign becomes reality and helps to shape a world we can all be proud of.”
Lush Cosmetics did not immediately respond to The Daily Wire’s request for comment on backlash over the image.

President Donald Trump referenced a joke on Thursday that he made with his new friend, New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart, to hammer his point about trans athletes attempting to compete in women&#8217;s sports.
“He’s a big strong guy, and I said, how do you think you would do in women’s sports, Jaxson,” Trump said he asked Dart. “He said, ‘Pretty good, sir.’ He didn’t know I was joking.”
Trump made the comment while speaking to the media at the White House when he recalled his conversation with Dart while discussing the Supreme Court coming to a decision on biological men participating in women’s sports. While Trump&#8217;s comment was just a joke, it allowed him to state the obvious regarding the hypothetical. 
“He would’ve been the greatest athlete in the history of women’s sports,” Trump said. “You should see the size of this guy, he’s like a male model, he’s going to be a great quarterback.”

The president and quarterback were with each other publicly for the first time when Dart introduced Trump at a rally for Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) in Suffern, New York, on May 22. Dart, who publicly stated how honored he was to present the president at the event, was ridiculed by leftist outlets, sports media moguls, and even teammate Abdul Carter, who took to X to voice his <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/muslim-nfl-players-post-criticizing-pro-trump-teammate-backfires">frustration</a>. 
Despite the backlash, Dart stood his ground, supporting America and the president of the United States.
“This was a unique opportunity. Celebrating Pride Month, New York City Democratic Mayor Zohran Mamdani shared an article claiming there has been an uptick in &#8220;violent killings&#8221; of people who identify as transgender. However, a review by The Daily Wire found that none of the <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DYNjI44HDlJ/?img_index=7">deaths</a> cited in the article have been classified as anti-trans hate crimes by law enforcement agencies investigating the cases.

Several of the cases cited involved domestic violence or personal disputes rather than alleged anti-trans attacks.
The first victim named is Eryka Caldwell. According to the outlet&#8217;s own previous reporting, Caldwell was allegedly stabbed to death by his boyfriend, 38-year-old Jonathan Fernandez. Caldwell&#8217;s sister said he had previously sought refuge from Fernandez in domestic violence shelters.
Even organizers of a vigil for Caldwell acknowledged the case was not viewed as anti-trans violence. The activist who spoke at the vigil said, “When we were organizing for tonight’s vigil, a few people asked me why the trans community would rally for Eryka, since she was a victim of domestic violence, not anti-trans violence.” 
Davonta Curtis was allegedly beaten to death by his boyfriend. Prosecutors say the suspect later stole Curtis&#8217;s car, phone, and money. Court records reportedly show the suspect searched phrases including &#8220;how to kill someone with a hammer&#8221; and &#8220;if a person gets hit in the head with a hammer while sleeping, what happens.&#8221;
Other cases were investigated as homicides without hate-crime designations.
Aleanna Royal Belcher was found dead in a homeless shelter stairwell with a stab wound to his abdomen. After completing their investigation, police said they did not believe the killing was a hate crime. 
Lucas Redbeard Knapp was shot after reportedly intervening in a confrontation between two parties. Law enforcement investigated the death as a homicide, not a hate crime.
Another individual cited in the article, Shyyell Diamond Sanchez-McCray, was <a href="https://www.12onyourside.com/2026/03/26/justice-shyyell-loved-ones-popular-drag-performer-speak-out-petersburg-police-investigate-murder/">found</a> shot to death inside a home. Public reporting contains conflicting descriptions regarding whether Sanchez-McCray even identified as transgender or was a gay man who performed in drag. Authorities have not announced a motive, and the investigation remains ongoing. 
Dannielle Spillman died in a hit-and-run incident after a dispute involving a vehicle. Authorities have also not classified the case as a hate crime, just like the other five killings in the article.

A North Carolina school district faces a Trump administration investigation after high school girls accused school officials of doing nothing after they complained about a transgender-identifying male invading their personal spaces. 
The Department of Education told Cabarrus County Schools on Monday that it had opened a Title IX investigation over complaints that biological male students had been allowed to access girls’ bathrooms and locker rooms. Students in the district for months have lambasted school officials for not keeping the spaces separated by sex. 
“The Complainants alleged that the District permits male students to access sex-segregated restrooms and locker rooms for female students and has failed to respond as required to reports of female students being sexually harassed by male students in school restrooms or locker rooms,” the Education Department wrote in a letter obtained by The Daily Wire.

Trista Ruck, a student at Cox Mill High School, said that school officials dismissed her concerns about feeling uncomfortable with a male using the women’s bathroom. She said the principal told students the issue was &#8220;too political to address.&#8221;
“Our school is supposed to make every student safe, but we get ostracized when we discuss this with adults who are supposed to ensure the safety and comfortability at school,” she said in April. “Personally, I try to avoid the restrooms at all costs, but I do use these facilities at times when I really have to.”
The Education Department’s Office for Civil Rights will probe whether the district’s policies discriminate based on sex by denying female students access to private intimate spaces. 
To comply with the investigation, the department asked the district to provide documents on its policies related to “gender identity” and any complaints it received from girls about males in their spaces. 
School officials downplayed concerns from parents and students and previously <a href="https://www.wcnc.com/article/news/verify/viral-claim-that-boy-tried-to-watch-young-girl-in-school-restroom-is-false-cabarrus-county-school-district-says/275-e53d0323-7532-4438-901b-79ca4c0ceaec">said</a> it is constrained by laws, stating that “schools may not discriminate against students by denying them access to the bathroom corresponding to their gender identity.”
The Education Department investigation comes after Rep. Addison McDowell (R-NC) wrote a letter on May 7 <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/congressman-urges-trump-admin-to-intervene-after-high-school-girls-say-spaces-invaded-by-boy">urging action</a> against the district. 
“If my daughters were speaking up, I would want leaders in the community to act. It took a lot of courage for these girls to stand up and speak out,&#8221; McDowell told The Daily Wire. &#8220;There appears to have been confusion at the local level about how Title IX protections apply to girls in our schools. I look forward to the Department providing clarity and restoring common sense.&#8221;
The Trump administration said the investigation was part of its efforts to recognize June as “Title IX Month.” 
“Today’s investigation demonstrates that the Trump Administration will not stop pursuing Districts that reportedly subject our women and girls to egregious violations of their privacy and safety,” said Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Kimberly Richey. “Under the Trump Administration, no woman or girl will have to fight alone to secure her basic protections, and we will not relent until Title IX is restored to the fullest extent of the law.”

When a transgender-identifying man flashed his prosthetic breasts on the White House lawn during the Biden administration&#8217;s penultimate Pride Month celebration, many thought we had seen the high water mark of the radical gender ideology that had captured the Democrat Party.
But internal documents unearthed by The Daily Wire reveal the shocking truth. In its waning days, the Biden administration was working behind the scenes to rip children from the homes of loving parents who refused to affirm a child&#8217;s transgender identity. Today, as a different president marks the first of June without any rainbow regalia, we&#8217;re proud to bring you the first in a four-part series exposing the Biden administration&#8217;s radical anti-family plot.
We begin with the story of Nicole, a loving mother whose refusal to indulge her daughter&#8217;s gender delusions put her at odds with her local school district, and later, the entire state of Oregon. The system that empowered the state to rip Nicole&#8217;s daughter from her home is precisely the kind of system the Biden administration was developing — and likely would have implemented had Vice President Kamala Harris defeated President Donald Trump.

Nicole was shocked when the police turned up at her front door to take her 15-year-old daughter away.
In July 2024, the Oregon Department of Human Services took the teen — called Jane Doe in filings to protect her identity — into protective custody as they investigated whether Nicole was causing Jane a “mental injury,&#8221; a form of child abuse under Oregon <a href="https://www.childwelfare.gov/resources/definitions-child-abuse-and-neglect-oregon/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">state law.</a>
The issue at hand? Nicole would not &#8220;affirm&#8221; Jane&#8217;s &#8220;gender identity.&#8221;
&#8220;I asked, &#8216;What if I don&#8217;t let her go&#8217;?&#8221; Nicole told The Daily Wire. &#8220;Then you can be arrested,&#8221; a police officer told her.
Nicole says Jane had identified as transgender for several years — but she and her husband are Christians, who acknowledge the biological reality that you can&#8217;t change your sex. After performing its investigation, Oregon DHS sent Nicole a notice in September 2024 saying it had found the claim that she caused her daughter a &#8220;mental injury&#8221; for not affirming her transgender identity was “founded.”
&#8220;We believe you, Nicole REDACTED, are responsible for the Mental Injury of Jane Doe,&#8221; the document from Oregon DHS reads. &#8220;Your actions and statements towards Jane Doe have caused significant mental injury. The severe harm perpetrated showed a serious disregard for Jane Doe&#8217;s social and emotional well-being. Your adverse reactions to Jane Doe expressing their gender identity have caused serious harm to Jane Doe&#8217;s psychological functioning.&#8221;
Oregon defines “<a href="https://oregon.public.law/rules/oar_413-015-0115" target="_blank" rel="noopener">emotional abuse</a>” as “any mental injury to a child that shall include only observable and substantial impairment of the child&#8217;s mental or psychological ability to function caused by cruelty to the child.&#8221;
Nicole asked Oregon DHS to review and reconsider her case. Upon review, Oregon DHS again said Nicole&#8217;s refusal to &#8220;support&#8221; Jane&#8217;s gender identity had caused her a “mental injury.”
“The decision was based on the following: You refuse to support JANE DOE’s gender identity and instead provided hours-long lectures that have led to JANE DOE experiencing panic attacks and suicidal ideation. Your actions and behaviors have caused a severe negative impact on JANE DOE’s wellbeing,” states a document reviewed by The Daily Wire.
The Daily Wire reached out to Oregon DHS, asking if it could confirm whether the state of Oregon views not affirming a child&#8217;s gender identity as emotional abuse that causes mental injury to a child. Oregon DHS did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
Nicole told The Daily Wire that Jane now lives with her gender-affirming father.
&#8220;Because I tell them she&#8217;s a girl and I won&#8217;t say that she&#8217;s a boy whatsoever, they won&#8217;t let me have a relationship with my daughter,&#8221; Nicole told The Daily Wire. &#8220;They took all of my parenting rights away.&#8221;
&#8220;Nicole&#8217;s story is not unusual,&#8221; parents&#8217; rights advocate Erin Friday says. &#8220;Gender confused kids are being groomed by adults to use the child welfare apparatus to escape from the only parent who truly has the child’s best interest in mind. The system that was designed to safeguard kids has morphed into a lethal weapon against loving parents.&#8221;
Nicole is now going to court to clear the names of her and her husband, who was also named as having “founded” charges of emotional abuse. Her case is set to go before a judge in September 2026.
“I gave birth to a beautiful, loving little girl, and that she will always and forever, no matter what she does to her body, will be a girl,” Nicole told The Daily Wire.
“Now my husband and I are in a battle with the State to clear our names because we didn&#8217;t lie to our daughter and tell her that she is a boy. This has cost us thousands [of dollars] and more heartache that I can&#8217;t begin to place into words, and with no end in sight.”
<h3>Oregon’s Radical Child Welfare Policies</h3>
Oregon is known for its radical embrace of gender ideology. It adopted a groundbreaking <a href="https://oregon.public.law/rules/oar_413-200-0308" target="_blank" rel="noopener">policy</a> in 2018 requiring child foster care parents and adoptive families to &#8220;respect, accept, and support&#8221; a child&#8217;s gender identity. &#8220;Gender identity&#8221; is a term used by transgender activists to describe a person’s feelings about their sex. Activists view not “affirming” a child’s gender identity as a form of abuse and neglect.
This rule shares similarities with a now rescinded Biden-era federal <a href="https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2024/04/30/2024-08982/designated-placement-requirements-under-titles-iv-e-and-iv-b-for-lgbtqi-children#footnote-35-p34845" target="_blank" rel="noopener">regulation</a> that required all foster care families to provide transgender affirming environments for LGBTQ+ youth.
Jessica Bates, a Christian Oregon mom, sued Oregon DHS in 2023 after she was barred from applying to adopt children because of “her objections to affirming a child’s transgender identity,” legal <a href="https://cases.justia.com/federal/appellate-courts/ca9/23-4169/23-4169-2025-07-24.pdf?ts=1753374764" target="_blank" rel="noopener">documents</a> show. Bates, who was represented by legal counsel from Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), initially lost her case but won on appeal and received a preliminary injunction in July 2025 allowing her to move forward with foster and adoption processes.
&#8220;This was really the first appellate circuit court decision ever to address this issue, and we think it reads very strongly in favor of free speech and religious liberty,&#8221; Jon Scruggs, ADF VP of Litigation Strategy, told The Daily Wire.
&#8220;Just because someone refuses to affirm gender ideology, you can&#8217;t deny their ability to foster and adopt. And if that&#8217;s true, I think it certainly flows into biological parents as well, that if anything, biological parents have even stronger rights and adoption applicants.&#8221;
The Oregon DHS Resource and Adoptive Family Training (<a href="https://sharedsystems.dhsoha.state.or.us/DHSForms/Served/de98450.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RAFT</a>) for foster and adoptive families has a <a href="https://www.oregon.gov/odhs/providers-partners/foster-care/pages/training-certification.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">session</a> devoted to training caregivers to create “affirming homes.”
“You will learn about what it means to affirm (respecting, accepting, and supporting) children’s identities and practice affirmation in the resource home,” the training states.
The training makes clear that parents and caregivers must actively<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WHaID0aD0A&amp;list=PLsrX1nc_gB0qMKoMmmLYYczBJs7gBV3PB&amp;index=10" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> affirm</a> a child’s gender identity by using “correct pronouns” and ensuring a child has clothes that match their chosen sex.
In the final opinion in Bates&#8217;s case, the judge noted that Oregon trained foster and adoptive parents to not only be tolerant of a child’s gender identity, but also to proactively be affirming.
“The state’s own denial of Bates’s application shows that the state does not interpret its policy and the RAFT guidelines to be merely advisory. The state thus cited Bates’s refusal to ‘encourage’ children ‘in this behavior’ as grounds for denying her certification as an adoptive parent,” states the opinion.
<h3>Non-Affirmation Is Abuse</h3>
Oregon’s child welfare policies aren’t limited to the foster care and adoption system. They also affect children residing at home with their parents.
&#8220;The logic of the state&#8217;s argument in the foster context is parents are endangering children&#8217;s lives by refusing to affirm gender ideology,&#8221; Scruggs told The Daily Wire.
&#8220;That logic crosses right over to biological parents and so that&#8217;s one reason we&#8217;re litigating this issue across the country.&#8221;
ADF is providing legal counsel to foster and adoptive parents across the country who are being discriminated against for not affirming gender ideology.
In October 2023, Oregon DHS received a &#8220;call of concern&#8221; about Jane&#8217;s safety while under Nicole’s care. An Oregon DHS report written by a caseworker, reviewed by The Daily Wire, noted Jane was &#8220;currently wanting to transition from female to male&#8221; and that Nicole was “not supportive of this.&#8221; The caseworker pointed out that Nicole and her husband believe &#8220;men are men and women are women.&#8221;
Jane had continued to identify as a boy, and in May 2024, out of concern for her well-being, Nicole asked Jane to watch videos showing the harms of gender ideology.
Nicole told The Daily Wire that she and Jane spent around two hours watching the videos, ate dinner, and went to bed. The evening seemed uneventful.
The next morning, Jane headed off to her public school. But when Nicole went to pick up Jane at the end of the day, she was nowhere to be found. Nicole spent almost two hours frantically trying to locate her and called 911 to report her daughter as missing. She was directed to a police officer, who said Jane went home with a friend because she felt threatened by the gender ideology videos Nicole had shown her the night before.
The police officer brought Jane to Nicole, with the order that she take her daughter to an emergency crisis center. At the center, counselors offered Nicole pamphlets about resources for LGBTQ+ community members, which she refused.
The Oregon Department of Education, in January 2023, released a 48-page <a href="https://www.oregon.gov/ode/students-and-family/equity/civilrights/Documents/ODE-Supporting-Gender-Expansive-Students.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">document</a> titled “Supporting Gender Expansive Students: Guidance for Schools,” which provides practical ways for schools to be gender affirming. The department provides a template to help school staff create gender identity support plans and recommends that school staff keep secrets about students&#8217; &#8220;gender identity.&#8221;
So, while Nicole and her husband tried to reason with Jane at home, the teenager&#8217;s school had been providing her with information about LGBTQ+ identities. Her teachers were calling her by a different name, and her peers pressured her into transitioning to another sex.
Nicole told The Daily Wire that “schools, outside counselors, children&#8217;s friends, phones, echo chambers within social media, and affirming family members” all influenced Jane’s embrace of a transgender identity.
Nicole believed that in June 2024, Jane was starting to see some of the harms of transgenderism. But this change of heart was short-lived, which Nicole believes was due, in part, to the influence of a Christian counselor Jane was seeing for help addressing her underlying struggles.
The counselor advertised herself as having a “Christian worldview,” and Nicole specifically asked the counselor not to discuss LGBTQ+ issues with Jane.
The Daily Wire reviewed a document that suggests the Christian counselor supported Jane’s transgender identity and told Oregon DHS their “main concern is the parents have really particular beliefs about LGBTQ,” and told a caseworker “mom had the perception that since she is listed as a Christian counselor, that she would be against the LGBTQ,” according to an Oregon DHS report.
When Jane used her tablet to access an online “gender support group,” the Christian counselor was “really proud of Jane for reaching out to somebody when she felt she needed help,” according to the report.
Nicole told The Daily Wire the counselor&#8217;s office was &#8220;where a lot of issues occurred.&#8221;
After Jane was taken into state custody in July 2024, the Department of Human Services sent letters to Nicole’s family members, alerting them that Jane needed a place to live. Gender-affirming child welfare systems seek to find “<a href="https://sogiecenter.org/programs/caff/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">chosen affirming families</a>” for transgender identifying children whose parents refuse to transition them to another sex. Nicole told The Daily Wire that this action was devastating, isolating, and harmed her familial relationships.
&#8220;CPS sent letters to my entire family saying, &#8216;Are you willing to take Nicole&#8217;s daughter,&#8217; because, basically — she&#8217;s unfit,&#8221; Nicole told The Daily Wire.
It’s been almost two years since CPS showed up at her door in July 2024. That was the last time Nicole saw her daughter.
“We lost her to the State when she was fifteen, along with all of my parenting rights,&#8221; Nicole told The Daily Wire. &#8220;We just want to bring awareness out there to parents everywhere that this is happening.&#8221;

A 21-year-old political commentator was attacked and temporarily blinded by a masked individual while debating transgender violence on a college campus earlier this week.
A video shows Ryley Niemi, a conservative who regularly debates leftist students, sitting at a table on the University of California Santa Cruz campus when a black-clad person wearing dark sunglasses and a mask approached him and dumped a bucket of black liquid on him.
Niemi chased after the individual who fled the scene, and people in the area began cheering and shouting for Niemi to “get the f*ck off this campus.” The attacker escaped, but in an exclusive interview with The Daily Wire, Niemi said the police are “actively investigating this and looking for the person.&#8221;
Niemi, said the liquid caused blindness in both eyes for three hours, and blindness for six hours in his right eye.
“EMTs flushed my eyes with five vials of saline solution,” Niemi said. During his visit to the ER, Niemi learned that his “right eye has a corneal abrasion, and 48 hours later, my right eye still hurts and is slightly blurry.”
He added that the attack resulted in semi-permanent damage to his right eye and cut short his debate at UC Santa Cruz.

Niemi&#8217;s table featured signs that stated “trans women are men” and “transgenders are violent.” He said the attacker was “100% male” who appeared to be around 6&#8242; tall and “has a modified voice [because of hormone therapy], long hair, and feminine earrings.”
“The irony is,” Niemi continued, “that one of the signs said ‘trans-genders are violent.’ And then a transgender attacked me.”
This is not the first time Niemi has been <a href="https://x.com/jakerattlesnk/status/2045429911926735317">attacked</a>. Six weeks ago, Niemi interviewed a gay couple with a baby on the street and asked them about statistics on gay men committing child molestation. One of the men shoved him and proceeded to follow Niemi, punching him in the back of the head. Niemi said he suffered a concussion from the attack.
“The district attorney has let them off the hook,” Niemi added.
The Right-wing commentator explained that he holds debates to “change the mind of the American public to be more conservative.”

President Donald Trump has cracked down on transgender procedures for kids since returning to office. But that hasn&#8217;t stopped the federal government from funding a radical doctor&#8217;s $3 million study on puberty blockers.
The National Institute of Mental Health approved $728,119 in February 2026 for a <a href="https://reporter.nih.gov/search/06tsrMfvqUOi2mTIvah-OA/project-details/11090506" target="_blank" rel="noopener">project</a> on puberty blockers based out of the Research Institute Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. One of the principal investigators of the project, Dr. John Strang, is <a href="https://wpath.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/WPATH-GEI-Neurodivergence-in-Adults-WS-Final.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">closely affiliated</a> with the World Professional Association for Transgender Health. WPATH has faced criticism over its <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/leaked-files-from-transgender-medical-org-show-medical-malpractice" target="_blank" rel="noopener">shoddy science</a> and accusations that its recommendations are driven by ideology.
Strang’s project entails 132 “transgender adolescents” at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., and Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago, according to its description. Half of the kids would be on puberty blockers while the other half would not, according to researchers. Researchers leading the project hope to “clarify its potential protective and risk effects to support optimization and personalization of treatment protocols.”
The Department of Health and Human Services has determined that puberty blockers are not safe for gender-confused children, and has issued several directives going after hospitals and doctors that push transgender procedures on kids. But HHS downplayed the radical nature of the grant in a statement to The Daily Wire, saying that the project in question does not involve giving puberty blockers to kids, but recruits patients from gender clinics considering going on puberty blockers.
“HHS continues to fight to protect America&#8217;s children from irreversible harm outlined in the Department&#8217;s peer-reviewed report,” an official told The Daily Wire. “These detrimental procedures do not meet professionally recognized standards of health care, and practitioners who perform sex-rejecting procedures on minors would be deemed out of compliance with those standards.&#8221;
In total, the project has been awarded $3,741,119 in federal funding between 2021-2024 and 2026. The project did not get funding in 2025, a decision that appears to have been made in March 2025, <a href="https://www.usaspending.gov/award/ASST_NON_R01MH123746_075" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to spending records.
The American Accountability Foundation, which <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/woke-government-bureacrats-witholding-data-on-blockbuster-trans-study-watchdog-says" target="_blank" rel="noopener">has sued</a> the NIH for more information on its transgender experiments, said that the funding shows the need for increased oversight.
“DOGE did some great work, but I&#8217;ve been around Washington long enough to know that if you don&#8217;t keep your eyes on the deep state they&#8217;ll resume the same bad behavior the moment you look away,&#8221; Tom Jones, the organization&#8217;s president, told The Daily Wire.
The Trump administration <a href="https://www.gao.gov/assets/890/880607.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suspended</a> 1,800 NIH grants determined to be related to DEI or other radical topics between February 2025 and June 2025. The NIH later agreed to review grants on a standardized case-by-case basis in a <a href="https://www.aclu.org/documents/apha-v-nih-stipulation-agreement" target="_blank" rel="noopener">settlement</a> after a lawsuit from a number of organizations that lost federal funding. Many of the projects impacted were kept sealed from the public record, making it difficult to determine exactly which grants were involved.
Nothing in the agreement &#8220;diminishes or enlarges NIH’s discretion over the decision to award funding, or creates a final agency action where a final agency action would not otherwise exist,&#8221; the settlement agreement said.
The puberty blocker project’s public description notes that puberty blockers are “endorsed” by WPATH and claims that initial studies show “mental health benefits for transgender youth” put on puberty blockers. Puberty blockers can seriously impact bone density, sexual development, and fertility, and can cause vision issues and lead to brain swelling. Many medical experts have rejected the claims of advocates for transgender procedures that puberty blockers are fully reversible.
Strang <a href="https://research.childrensnational.org/people/john-strang" target="_blank" rel="noopener">runs</a> the gender and autism program at Children’s National and is on faculty with the Global Education Institute for WPATH. The gender program at Children&#8217;s National currently <a href="https://www.childrensnational.org/get-care/departments/gender-and-autism-program" target="_blank" rel="noopener">does not</a> provide so-called &#8220;gender-affirming care&#8221; medical treatments because of &#8220;escalating legal and regulatory risks,&#8221; but it does offer &#8220;mental health&#8221; services. Before Trump took office, the hospital performed multiple transgender surgeries and had 47 patients on puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones, <a href="https://stoptheharmdatabase.com/hospital/childrens-national-medical-center/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the Stop the Harm database.
Throughout 2025, Strang <a href="https://wpath.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/WPATH-GEI-Neurodivergence-in-Adults-WS-Final.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">participated</a> in a <a href="https://wpath.org/gei/upcoming-gei-courses/wpath-gei-online-neurodiversity-workshop/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">number</a> of WPATH workshops for health care professionals “committed to advancing affirming care for transgender and gender-diverse” patients.
Additionally, Strang <a href="https://wpath.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/SOC8-Full-Contributor-List-FINAL-UPDATED-09232021.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">contributed</a> to the <a href="https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/pdf/10.1080/26895269.2022.2100644" target="_blank" rel="noopener">standards of care</a> produced by WPATH that recommended that doctors tell adolescents about “chest binding and genital tucking,” put girls on “menstrual suppression agents” if they don’t want to go on testosterone, and leave the door open for doctors to recommend “puberty suppression, hormone initiation, or gender-related surgery for gender diverse and transgender adolescents.”
Other researchers on the project include Dr. Diane Chen and Dr. <a href="https://www.nationwidechildrens.org/find-a-doctor/profiles/eric-e-nelson" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Eric Nelson</a>, who is listed as the project leader.
Nelson is a principal investigator at Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s Center for Biobehavioral Health and is a professor at Ohio State University College of Medicine. He is the <a href="https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39196327/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">co-author</a> of a study on mental health concerns for gender-confused youth.
Chen is a researcher and doctor with the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children&#8217;s Hospital of Chicago and Northwestern’s Feinberg School of Medicine, where she has focused on transgender issues. At Lurie, <a href="https://research.luriechildrens.org/en/researchers/diane--chen/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">she</a> “has worked clinically with transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse young people and youth and young adults with differences of sex development/intersex variations since 2013.”
Chen was <a href="https://reporter.nih.gov/search/06tsrMfvqUOi2mTIvah-OA/projects" target="_blank" rel="noopener">involved</a> with a seperate expansive <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/release/mcclain-probes-9-7-million-taxpayer-funded-study-buried-by-activist-researcher-on-puberty-blockers%EF%BF%BC/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">$9.7 million</a> NIH-funded study that experimented on kids by giving them puberty blockers. In February 2023, Chen published a <a href="https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2206297" target="_blank" rel="noopener">study</a> based on research funded by another NIH grant <a href="https://news.feinberg.northwestern.edu/2023/02/02/gender-affirming-hormones-improve-mental-health-in-transgender-and-nonbinary-youth/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claiming</a> that giving kids cross-sex hormones improves their “mental health.”
“Our results provide robust scientific evidence that improved appearance congruence secondary to hormone treatment is strongly linked to better mental health outcomes in transgender and nonbinary youth,” she said at the time.
That assessment contrasts directly with the conclusions reached by the Trump administration in May 2025 that medical interventions for minors experiencing gender confusion are not supported by science and that the risks of the procedures are high.

The Texas church where Democrat James Talarico has delivered his radical sermons is pushing radical gender ideology on children, featuring books filled with sexually explicit content and transgender ideology.
Talarico, the Democrat nominee for the crucial Senate election in November, attends St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Austin. There, children have access to a library stocked with “banned books” that promote ideas rejected by most Christians, including books that contain descriptions of anal rape, incest, and oral sex, according to a Daily Wire review of its offerings.
Books found in the St. Andrew’s catalog include the book “Gender Queer,” which includes illustrations of oral sex and masturbation, and the book “All Boys Aren’t Blue,” which discusses anal rape and incest.
“This Book Is Gay,” <a href="https://www.amazon.com/This-Book-Gay-Juno-Dawson/dp/1492617830" target="_blank" rel="noopener">has</a> a chapter on the “ins and outs of gay sex,” while the book “Becoming Nicole” tells the story of a gender-confused teen boy who identifies as girl with the support of his family. In “The Courage to Be Queer,” the author <a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/_/eEmUCgAAQBAJ" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claims</a> that “God is queer.”
Other books in the church catalog include “Trans Kids, Our Kids: Stories and Resources from the Frontlines of the Movement for Transgender Youth,” “Called OUT: The Voices and Gifts of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered Presbyterians,&#8221; and “Becoming Nicole: The Transformation of an American Family.”
Talarico, looking to flip a Senate seat in a state President Donald Trump won by 14 points in 2024, has faced criticism over comments he made on transgender ideology. It will likely be a central theme in the campaign against him — in his first speech as the official Republican nominee on Tuesday night, Republican Ken Paxton referred to Talarico as both &#8220;Six-Gender Jimmy&#8221; and &#8220;James Tala-FREAKO.&#8221;
Republican congressman Brandon Gill on the same stage went after Talarico over the Daily Wire report earlier this year on the time he said the thing he loved most in the world was &#8220;trans children.&#8221;

St. Andrew’s, the church where Talarico <a href="https://x.com/greg_price11/status/2029210425879892253?s=20">delivered</a> his sermon that asserted that &#8220;our trans community needs abortion care too,&#8221; <a href="https://www.staopen.org/banned-books" target="_blank" rel="noopener">says</a> it offers banned books so that children can find “affirmation in the books they read.&#8221; It boasts that the books “shift our perspective, develop empathy, and see more clearly the call to justice among all people.&#8221;
“We are a safe haven for controversial narratives right in the heart of Texas, the state that takes the top prize in challenged books. Take a moment to browse our collection of banned books and see what you notice &#8230; common themes … particular experiences and identities being censored,” the church says of its banned books collection.
Talarico has voted in the state legislature against keeping men out of women&#8217;s sports and claimed it was “abusive” and “destructive” if parents did not accept their child&#8217;s alleged gender identity.
He has also stated his belief that &#8220;god is nonbinary,&#8221; and that Jesus was a &#8220;radical feminist.&#8221;
St. Andrew’s is <a href="https://www.staopen.org/about-us" target="_blank" rel="noopener">part</a> of the Presbyterian Church (USA), generally known as a liberal denomination with unorthodox views on gender and sexuality. Talarico&#8217;s church refers to itself as a “Reproductive Freedom Congregation,” <a href="https://justtx.org/rfc/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">meaning</a> it believes “abortion is a blessing.&#8221; The Democrat candidate himself has argued that the Bible doesn&#8217;t oppose abortion.
The church <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/it-turns-out-james-talaricos-church-is-as-weird-as-he-is" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recently</a> held a training linked to the anti-Trump “No Kings” protest movement.

A Democrat lawmaker who narrowly won a congressional seat in an Upstate New York swing district last election has ties to a far-Left distillery that supports radical transgender groups. 
Financial records show that Rep. Josh Riley (D-NY) has invested in a Washington, D.C., distillery called <a href="https://www.republicrestoratives.com/">Republic Restoratives</a> that donates a portion of its profits to Advocates for Trans Equality, an activist group dedicated to fighting the Trump administration’s crackdown on transgender ideology. This group <a href="https://transequality.org/news/get-facts-truth-about-transition-related-care-transgender-youth">supports</a> puberty blockers for kids and argues that “young people deserve privacy” when considering gender surgeries. 
Riley has invested between $1,001 to $15,000 in Republic Restoratives, a woman-owned and crowdfunded distillery, <a href="https://disclosures-clerk.house.gov/public_disc/financial-pdfs/2024/10068019.pdf">according</a> to his latest available financial disclosure. His new financial disclosure won’t be made available until August 13, 2026, after he filed for an <a href="https://disclosures-clerk.house.gov/public_disc/financial-pdfs/2025/30026706.pdf">extension</a> in April 2026. 
Republic Restoratives <a href="https://shop.republicrestoratives.com/products/civic-pride">offers</a> a “Civic Pride” Vodka that it describes as “our rainbow-washing clap back.&#8221; Some of the proceeds from sales of the activist beverage go toward Advocates for Trans Equality. 
“We were tired of seeing giant corporations with spotty records on LGBTQ rights wrap their products in rainbows every June,” the distillery says. “This gold-medal-winning spirit helps fund the fight for dignity, safety, and justice for our trans siblings.”
Advocates for Trans Equality recently <a href="https://action.transequality.org/a/voteno2616protectstudents">campaigned</a> against a House <a href="https://docs.house.gov/billsthisweek/20260427/RCP_H2616_H2617_xml.pdf">proposal</a> that would ban schools from hiding a student&#8217;s so-called gender identity from parents and keep gender ideology out of the classroom. 
The distillery also raises money for other transgender groups. In June 2025, Republic Restoratives <a href="https://www.facebook.com/RepublicRestoratives/posts/pfbid0ksD31JPWES1zbwNUTm33u7Kc1Rjf6q3Ci6LWQPumqZXhZgGngfGJPiBvMiazrUDrl?rdid=SwLwsNPvJ0LTRwk6">said</a> that it had raised over $5,000 for “trans lives.” 
“Pride’s not a month — it’s a mission. When major brands bailed, when SCOTUS doubled down on hate, when trans kids were told they don’t belong, you didn’t flinch. You funded resistance,” the distillery posted on Facebook a few days after the Supreme Court <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/supreme-court-upholds-tennessees-ban-on-transgender-drugs-for-children">upheld</a> a Tennessee law protecting kids from transgender procedures. 
“Together, we’ve already raised over $5K for trans advocacy. Now, every Trevor Project Pack sends support where it’s needed most- queer youth in crisis,” the distillery added. 
Funds from sales of the Trevor Project Pack <a href="https://shop.republicrestoratives.com/pages/trevor-project-packs">went toward</a> the Trevor Project’s 24/7 LGBTQ crisis phone line. The organization “supports gender-affirming care as an evidence-based practice to support” <a href="https://www.thetrevorproject.org/research-briefs/gender-affirming-care-for-youth/">gender</a>-confused young people.

Riley’s record in Congress backs up his association with pro-transgender groups. He <a href="https://www.congress.gov/votes/house/119-1/12">voted</a> against a proposal to block school athletic programs from allowing males onto female teams. He also <a href="https://clerk.house.gov/Votes/2025249">voted against</a> an amendment that would keep bathrooms on military bases separate on the basis of sex. 
Riley defeated Republican incumbent Rep. Marcus Molinaro for the seat in 2024 by about 8,000 votes, less than two percentage points. The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) is targeting the seat in 2026. 
“Creepy Democrat Josh Riley is more interested in forcing taxpayer-funded sex changes on kids than delivering on what Upstate New Yorkers need: lower costs and safer streets,” spokeswoman Maureen O’Toole told The Daily Wire. “Riley’s priorities are backwards, and voters will kick him to the curb in November as a result.” 
Running for the Republican nomination are New York state Senator Peter Oberacker, endorsed by the NRCC, and long-shot candidate Alexander Portelli.

House Democrats joined with six Republicans on Thursday to block legislation advancing the long-awaited Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum, tanking the bill after Republicans added language limiting the museum to celebrating biological women and barring exhibits portraying males as female.
The measure failed on a 216-204 vote after every Democrat voted against it, joined by a small bloc of Republican defectors, halting what had previously been a bipartisan effort to establish the museum on the National Mall. The legislation was led by Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY).
The collapse of the bill came after Democrats abandoned legislation many of them had previously supported, once Republicans amended it to explicitly define the museum around biological women.
New language added by Republicans stated the museum would be dedicated to “preserving, researching, and presenting the history, achievements, and lived experiences of biological women in the United States,” while also prohibiting the museum from depicting “any biological male as a female.”
Democrats immediately denounced the changes, arguing they excluded transgender-identifying individuals and handed too much authority over the museum to President Donald Trump. Republicans countered that a women’s history museum should, by definition, focus on women.
“The addition of the word biological made them all run for the hills,” House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said Wednesday. “If that&#8217;s controversial in the Democratic Party, we&#8217;re in serious trouble.”

Malliotakis similarly blasted Democrats for withdrawing support over the added language. 
“A women&#8217;s history museum is supposed to be dedicated to women, period,” Malliotakis told <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/democrats-revolt-over-biological-wording-womens-history-museum-bill">Fox News</a>. “And the fact that they&#8217;re going to pull their support after overwhelmingly co-sponsoring this bill because the word biological was inserted, to me, is ludicrous.”
Democrats insisted the issue extended beyond transgender inclusion. The revised legislation also gave Trump authority to select an alternative site for the museum on the National Mall and included language calling for “equal representation of the diversity of the political viewpoints and authentic experiences held by women in the United States.”
Leaders of the Democratic Women’s Caucus accused Republicans of turning a bipartisan project into a political fight. 
“They amended the bill to give Trump and his allies unregulated power over what content and which women can be included in the museum, and the museum’s location,” caucus leaders said in a statement. “A museum about women, fought for and supported by women, should not be controlled by one man.”
The Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum was initially authorized by Congress in 2020 alongside the planned National Museum of the American Latino, but construction has remained stalled pending congressional approval of a permanent site.
House Republicans widely viewed Thursday’s vote as an opportunity to force Democrats into a politically uncomfortable position on gender after the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/democrats-finally-admit-what-went-wrong-in-2024">party’s struggles during the 2024 election cycle</a> over questions involving transgender-identifying athletes and definitions of “woman.”
But Republicans also faced internal resistance from fiscal conservatives and lawmakers skeptical that another Smithsonian museum was necessary. Several GOP lawmakers reportedly objected that women were already represented across existing Smithsonian institutions and raised concerns that the institution could ultimately become a platform for left-wing causes rather than a celebration of women’s achievements throughout American history. A source familiar with Republican concerns told Fox that lawmakers feared the museum could evolve into “a shrine to abortion activists like Margaret Sanger or the latest progressive cause” without stronger guardrails written into the legislation.
In the end, those Republican defections combined with unanimous Democratic opposition were enough to sink the legislation, leaving the future of the women’s history museum uncertain and construction plans once again stalled indefinitely.

A male athlete named AB Hernandez won three events at a girls sectional final tournament in California over the weekend, forcing female athletes to share the podium with him.
Still, the athlete&#8217;s mother believes her son is the real victim.
Hernandez, from Jurupa Valley High School, took first place in the girls long jump, high jump, and triple jump at the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Southern Section finals in Division 3.
Due to new rules, female athletes who would have won first place if it were not for Hernandez, a male, participating in the girls contest, had to share the first place spot on the podium.
Hernandez was not present at one ceremony, but later shared a spot with female winner Gwynneth Mureika, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/outkick-sports/trans-track-athlete-ab-hernandezs-mom-shares-critical-post-school-officials-podium-placements">according</a> to OutKick. At another ceremony, the female athlete did not show up and Hernandez had the top spot on the podium to himself.
The trans-identifying athlete&#8217;s mother shared a post from &#8220;Rainbow Families Action&#8221; on Instagram, which excoriated the new rules and claimed Hernandez was the one being bullied.
&#8220;All these big tough ex-athletes at CIF, and the most courage they could muster was to hand this to coaches at AB’s meet today,&#8221; the post said, captioning a letter about the new rules that allow female athletes to advance and share the podium.
&#8220;Not one of them was brave enough to look her or her mother in the eye and say &#8216;This whole project of violating Ed Code is aimed at you. A child,'&#8221; the post continued. &#8220;Government sanctioned bullying of a kid?&#8221;

Hernandez, who also dominates in girls&#8217; volleyball, is moving on to compete against top female track athletes in the state and will likely advance to the state finals, which are set to start on May 29. Last year, Hernandez won gold in the female triple jump and high jump at the state finals. He also took home the silver in the long jump.
In response to California allowing boys to compete in girls&#8217; sports, the Trump Department of Justice in 2025 sued the California Department of Education and the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) over violations of Title IX.

<div>The DOJ is launching a federal investigation into Washington State&#8217;s practice of housing men in women&#8217;s prisons, the Daily Wire can first report. It will investigate if these policies violate the constitutional rights of incarcerated women housed at the Washington Corrections Center for Women (WCCW) in Gig Harbor, Washington.</div>

<div>The Washington Department of Corrections (DOC) gives violent male convicts who self-identify as transgender full access to the women’s prisons, including cells, bathrooms, and showers.</div>

<div>“Under my leadership, the Civil Rights Division will not allow women incarcerated in jails or prisons to be subject to unconstitutional risks of harm from male inmates,” said Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon. “The constitutional rights of women cannot be sacrificed at the altar of appeasing unsupported and dangerous ideologies.”</div>

<div>The DOJ investigation comes on the heels of an April 2026 <a href="https://www.americafirstpolicy.com/assets/uploads/files/AFPI_WDOC_Complaint_04.27.26.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lawsuit</a> filed by The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) that argues forcing women to share a prison with violent men violates the fundamental constitutional rights of women to be safe while incarcerated. The lawsuit describes two women who were allegedly assaulted by Christopher Williams, a man who self-identifies as female. The lawsuit calls Williams a “six-foot-four, ‘biologically intact’ male” and “convicted child sex offender” with a history of violence against women.</div>
