Roughly 1,100 unaccompanied migrant minors who rushed the beaches of the Spanish enclave of Ceuta could soon make it to mainland Spain.
The group arrived as unaccompanied minors who authorities can&#8217;t immediately deport, <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/spains-ceuta-seeks-transfer-unaccompanied-migrant-minors-mainland-spain-after-2026-08-05/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Reuters. More than <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/why-did-nearly-60000-african-migrants-storm-spains-beaches?author=Jennie+Taer&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=7&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Why+Did+Nearly+60%2C000+African+Migrants+Storm+Spain%E2%80%99s+Beaches%3F">70,000 migrants</a>, mainly adult men from Morocco, arrived in Ceuta within days last week, a city that is part of Spain despite being on the northern coast of Africa. Now, the government of Ceuta is asking Spain&#8217;s leaders to let the minors onto the mainland.
&#8220;We are crying out for help and assistance,&#8221; Ceuta&#8217;s local government head, Juan Jesus Vivas, told Spanish broadcaster RTVE on Wednesday, according to Reuters.
Many of the migrants have returned to Africa, while the children who came alone remain in limbo, Reuters reported.
Spain’s Interior Ministry attributed the earlier influx to “a court ruling to encourage the flow of undocumented migrants, mostly young people.” Spain&#8217;s Supreme Court ruled last month that migrants crossing by sea cannot be immediately deported.
As a result, migrant entries went from a &#8220;slow trickle&#8221; to &#8220;an explosion,&#8221; a spokesman for Spain’s Guardia Civil police recently told Reuters.
Spain&#8217;s far-Left Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez also opened the door earlier this year for more than one million migrants to receive amnesty to counteract “MAGA-style leaders” around the world, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/30/world/europe/spain-migrants-legal-status.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to The New York Times. The Spanish government received more than double the number of applications it initially expected.
With reception centers full, many of the migrant minors still left in Ceuta are sleeping in the streets and inside warehouses, according to Reuters.
In 2025, Spain implemented a reform to its immigration law dictating that unaccompanied migrant minors must be redistributed from territories overwhelmed with migrants within 15 days of the completion of their case file, the outlet reported.
The Spanish government approved $29 million in aid for Ceuta&#8217;s migrant minors.
&#8220;Inter-territorial solidarity is necessary so these minors end up in other locations where they will be better off,&#8221; Miguel Angel Perez, government representative in Ceuta, said on Wednesday. &#8220;The law must be upheld.&#8221;
Conservative leaders in Europe have taken actions to punish Spain for its handling of illegal immigration since the latest surge. Italy recently suspended passport-free travel with Spain for a month after Ceuta&#8217;s latest mass migration incident.

President Donald Trump signed two executive orders Thursday aimed at cracking down on the abuse of birthright citizenship after the Supreme Court struck down his earlier attempt to end it.
The Supreme Court in June ruled against Trump&#8217;s earlier executive order seeking to deny citizenship to the children born to noncitizens on American soil. Administration officials have argued that the new proposed limits are permitted under the high court&#8217;s ruling.
&#8220;They&#8217;ve taken birthright citizenship and they&#8217;ve made a joke out of it,&#8221; Trump said during a signing event in the Oval Office on Thursday.
&#8220;I thought we would&#8217;ve won it at the Supreme Court, unfortunately we had a bad decision, very unfair decision,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Our country suffers because of it and we&#8217;re ending it a different way.&#8221;
The first executive order directs federal agencies to take steps aimed at preventing foreigners from exploiting birthright citizenship through birth tourism and certain surrogacy arrangements.
It also seeks to exempt children born to foreign government agents and individuals classified as &#8220;alien enemies&#8221; from automatic birthright citizenship for children born in U.S. territories.
Trump&#8217;s second executive order directs the State Department to deny tourist visas to foreigners who intend to travel to the United States to give birth for the purpose of securing American citizenship for their children.
Such immigration fraud is already illegal in the United States. Immigration officers also have the authority to deny entry for pregnant foreigners determined to be entering the country to give birth. 
 
Foreign nationals have long exploited birthright citizenship to access the benefits of the American system.
Across the country, birthing centers have operated for the sole purpose of helping foreigners give birth to American babies. During Thursday&#8217;s signing event, Trump estimated that &#8220;hundreds of thousands&#8221; of foreigners have exploited birthright citizenship.
One of the centers, De’Ai Postpartum Care Center in Houston, is the subject of a state lawsuit in Texas for allegedly “exploiting birthright citizenship by unlawfully facilitating the invasion of Chinese nationals … for the sole purpose of giving birth.” The clinic has said it has facilitated 1,000 births.
The Daily Wire previously visited homes nestled in quiet Houston-area neighborhoods the center allegedly used to house pregnant Chinese women.
The Lone Star State also opened an investigation into a South Texas hospital that placed <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hospital-placed-billboards-in-mexico-advertising-texas-birth-packages-prompting-birth-tourism-probe">billboards in Mexico</a> advertising “birth packages in South Texas&#8221; as part of an alleged &#8220;birth tourism&#8221; scheme.
The billboards offered “birth packages” of up to $5,525 through a website named “havemybabyinTEXAS.com.” The webpage later quietly went offline, <a href="https://www.chron.com/news/article/birth-tourism-abbott-texas-billboard-22336058.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Chron.com.

Federal agents arrested an illegal immigrant from Jordan after Illinois sanctuary authorities released him from custody despite an ICE detainer, following his arrest for allegedly carrying eight Molotov cocktails in his backpack, The Daily Wire has learned.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers caught up to Hamed Mohammed Hamed Alsaidi, 31, on Tuesday after Will County officials released him from custody and ignored a federal detainer, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) told The Daily Wire.
“Even though ICE lodged a detainer, sanctuary politicians in Will County, Illinois refused to honor it and released him without notifying ICE. Fortunately, thanks to the brave men and women of ICE, we have apprehended him and he remains in ICE custody,&#8221; a DHS spokesperson said, adding that the blame is on &#8220;Governor J.B. Pritzker and his fellow sanctuary politicians&#8221; who &#8220;need to stop putting American lives at risk with their reckless, America Last policies.&#8221;
Police in Mokena, Illinois, first encountered Alsaidi at a closed gas station around 2:52 a.m. on Saturday.
At the time, the illegal immigrant allegedly gave the fake name Hakmat Saidi to the police, <a href="https://www.shawlocal.com/the-herald-news/2026/08/04/federal-investigation-launched-into-man-charged-in-will-county-with-possessing-molotov-cocktails/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Shaw Local.
“He was told he could not be there and was given a ride to another gas station that was open,” prosecutors said, according to the local outlet.
Officers later observed Alsaidi walking in lanes of traffic and arrested him before learning his real identity. At that point, authorities found &#8220;several bottles filled with gasoline and stuffed with rags&#8221; inside his backpack, police said.
Alsaidi also allegedly possessed a “written map of the area,” including a nearby train station and the words, “You see the mosque,” which appeared to be in reference to the Prayer Center of Orland Park, Shaw Local reported.
Prosecutors determined that Alsaidi had &#8220;an active order of protection listing residents and addresses in Orland Park,&#8221; according to the outlet. They also found that he &#8220;has twice been determined to be an inadmissible alien, once in 2024 and again in 2025, making him a flight risk.&#8221;
Still, Will County Judge Theodore Jarz granted Alsaidi&#8217;s pretrial release on Sunday and ordered him to remain at an Oak Forest residence with a GPS monitor, according to Shaw Local.
Alsaidi is charged with felony unlawful possession of a weapon and misdemeanor obstructing identification.
The Jordanian national crossed the border into California illegally in 2024 before being released into the country under the Biden administration, DHS said. He also had a prior arrest for domestic battery.

Airlines are engaged in a tense battle with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) over the federal agency&#8217;s efforts to arrest more targets at airports.
As the Trump administration ramps up its <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ice-ramps-up-new-tactic-to-nab-foreigners-overstaying-visas?author=Jennie+Taer&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=8&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=ICE+Ramps+Up+New+Tactic+To+Nab+Foreigners+Overstaying+Visas">mass deportation campaign</a>, ICE officers have increasingly been seen making arrests at airports. It&#8217;s part of a new tactic to nab foreigners who have overstayed their visas.
Airline industry representatives met with Homeland Security officials late last month to share their concerns with the latest operations, <a href="https://www.wsj.com/business/airlines/airlines-push-back-against-ice-enforcement-at-airports-50a49ff0?mod=hp_lead_pos1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to The Wall Street Journal.
“Airlines have had constructive discussions with ICE and TSA to ensure if law-enforcement activity occurs at an airport, there are proper procedures and protocols in place to prioritize the safety and security of all involved,” a spokeswoman for Airlines for America said.
In March, the Association of Flight Attendants wrote to carriers about their concerns with ICE&#8217;s activities at airports across the country.
“The actions that federal enforcement authorities have taken in our workplaces have raised glaring workplace, safety, and legal concerns for flight attendants,” Sara Nelson, international president of the union, wrote in the letter reported by the Journal.
Nelson referenced reports of ICE agents accessing jet bridges without permission, including in one instance in which an agent boarded a flight in Minneapolis &#8220;in order to interrogate and threaten removal of a person who criticized their presence in the airport.&#8221;
In a statement to the outlet, the Department of Homeland Security said it&#8217;s “simply enforcing our nation’s laws and established policy.”
Officers have been told to attempt to make the airport arrests at security checkpoints, but they&#8217;ve increasingly been seen doing so at gates and ticket counters, according to the Journal.
In one instance in July, an airline declined ICE&#8217;s request for assistance in accessing a jet bridge to arrest a man traveling with his wife and children, the outlet reported. In the end, the family didn&#8217;t show up for the flight.
In another case, Southwest Airlines blocked an ICE officer who tried to board a flight in Dallas to make an arrest on July 25, the Journal reported, citing documents.
In what became a viral incident on social media, ICE arrested Chantal Alejandra Morales Rojas on July 20 while she attempted to board a Southwest flight from Denver to Oakland, <a href="https://www.9news.com/article/news/latest-news-ott/immigration-judge-grants-bond-woman-ice-dia/73-a462eafa-ef1f-4fc1-af6e-60be892e77ba?utm_campaign=snd-autopilot" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to 9News.
A GoFundMe for Morales Rojas said she has a valid work permit and a pending asylum application, the outlet reported.
ICE said she entered the United States on October 20, 2024, with a visa that expired on January 4, 2025. The agency added that having a pending case or work authorization doesn’t keep ICE from making an arrest.
An immigration judge subsequently granted her bond, according to 9News.
Southwest said it is committed to ensuring a safe travel experience, adding that it follows state and federal law when dealing with law enforcement. The airline said it implements policies “to ensure appropriate legal documentation is presented by law enforcement personnel before any information about customers is shared.”
Last week, ICE officers arrested a woman as she waited to board a JetBlue flight in Las Vegas because she overstayed her visa and had a final deportation order.
JetBlue said it doesn&#8217;t have a &#8220;program or partnership in place to identify or report customers based on immigration status to government agencies.&#8221;

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) made roughly 51,000 arrests in July, setting a new monthly record as the Trump administration intensifies its mass deportation campaign.
The record-breaking month comes as the Trump administration increases pressure on immigration enforcement. As of August 4, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said it had reached one million immigration arrests since President Donald Trump&#8217;s return to the White House.
Additionally, DHS says that it has deported more than one million illegal aliens. Roughly one-third of those removals were conducted by Customs and Border Protection (CBP), meaning they were recent border crossers who were almost immediately turned back.
“In President Trump’s first year back in office, more than 3 million illegal aliens have left the U.S. because of the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration, including an estimated 2.2 million self-deportations,&#8221; an agency spokesperson said.
July surpassed the previous monthly record of roughly 43,000 arrests set in June, <a href="https://x.com/BillMelugin_/status/2084368764091748362" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Fox News.
The Trump administration has also expanded ICE&#8217;s detention capacity to have enough bed space to hold 92,600 detainees at a time by the end of November 2026, Reuters previously <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/us/ice-spend-383-billion-detention-centers-across-us-document-shows-2026-02-13/?utm_source=chatgpt.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
With thousands of new ICE officers and billions of dollars in additional funding approved by Congress, the agency is now going full force to increase arrest numbers.
As of July 11, the agency was holding more than 65,000 illegal immigrants in ICE detention centers across the country, <a href="https://tracreports.org/immigration/quickfacts/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC).
ICE sources across the country say they&#8217;re now working at least six days a week, with the agency mandating that 70% of its personnel be on duty each day.
The agency has also adopted new tactics, including arresting immigrants who overstayed their visas at airports, The New York Times recently reported.
ICE agents have been seen making arrests at the check-in counters and boarding gates and are said to be operating at 15 airports, the outlet <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/07/28/us/ice-arrests-airports-visa-overstay.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>, citing documents and interviews with immigration attorneys.

The land, which sits along the Rio Grande in Val Verde County, is hunting ground and home to their Rambouillet sheep, Angora goats, and cattle. It could also soon become home for new vehicle barriers the Trump administration is hoping to install to prevent border crossings.
There&#8217;s just one major problem: the vehicle barriers would be located along cliffs that drop 275 feet to the river, where it would be near-impossible for anyone to drive across. And the vehicle barriers, which consist of four-foot tall metal posts with a cross beam, don&#8217;t prevent crossings on foot.
&#8220;They keep talking about a vehicle barrier. It&#8217;s impossible for a vehicle to drive across, come into the United States, especially in the western part of the ranch. It&#8217;s deep bluffs. You would have to drive off the bluff and then it would be catastrophic,&#8221; Zuberbueler told The Daily Wire.
&#8220;The plan they have in place makes absolutely no sense,&#8221; Zuberbueler said.
Zuberbueler, citing President Donald Trump&#8217;s success in shutting down the border, says he doesn&#8217;t believe border barriers are necessary. His family has also suffered enough at the hands of overreaching government, he said.
<div>&#8220;The crossings were off the charts when President Trump came into office, they dropped by like 90%,&#8221; he said. &#8220;So they&#8217;ve answered their own question that they don&#8217;t need a wall.&#8221;</div>

The federal government paid my dad for the land that was going to be inundated with water. And that was in the 60s. Val Verde County Sheriff Joe Frank Martinez said the planned vehicle barrier would be a waste of taxpayer dollars.
&#8220;There&#8217;s no vehicles coming across that country because they can&#8217;t. There&#8217;s no roads on the Mexican side that&#8217;s going to allow them to put their vehicle across the border through the river because 98% of those, they&#8217;re canyons. It&#8217;s a taxpayer&#8217;s expense that taxpayers don&#8217;t need to burden.&#8221;
Zuberbueler said he&#8217;s become so desperate he emailed the White House, inviting the president to visit his property.
&#8220;I&#8217;ve got to try,&#8221; he said, adding, &#8220;We don&#8217;t have a choice.&#8221;
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced in June its plans to construct a four- to six-foot-tall steel “vehicle barrier” through a $2.6 billion <a href="https://app.govly.com/public/signals/138185?utm_source=chatgpt.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">contract</a>, which also included the paving of new patrol roads between Sanderson and Lake Amistad.
A CBP spokesperson told The Daily Wire that it&#8217;s all part of &#8220;a border security strategy that leverages advanced technology and the natural terrain barriers.&#8221;
&#8220;Cameras, sensors, roads, and limited low-profile post-on-rail barriers will be deployed in strategic locations to restrict unlawful vehicle access while utilizing existing natural barriers. Additionally, CBP will use and improve existing public and park roads where it is possible to provide agents with continued access along the border,&#8221; the spokesperson said.
Nearly 100 miles west of Val Verde County in the Big Bend region of West Texas, Terrell County Sheriff Thaddeus Cleveland is preparing for the federal government&#8217;s construction of similar vehicle border barriers where the cliffs drop &#8220;anywhere from 500 feet to a 1,000 feet.&#8221;
&#8220;I can tell you, all of Terrell County, you cannot drive a vehicle across the border there. Significant cliffs, same thing with that 37 miles of Brewster County and a lot of that country, really all of that country going into Val Verde, it&#8217;s just impossible because of the cliffs that are on either side of the river,&#8221; Cleveland said.
The agency earlier walked back plans to build a 30-foot-tall border wall in the Big Bend region after landowners and sheriffs, including Cleveland, expressed disapproval of the project. Cleveland says the rugged mountains serve as &#8220;big natural barriers&#8221; that keep crossings low and that more cameras and drones in the sky would serve them better.
Cleveland, who served over two decades as a Border Patrol agent, similarly has taken issue with the plan, saying vehicle barriers wouldn&#8217;t make a difference. He said they instead need what has been tagged as the &#8220;virtual wall&#8221; by putting drones in the skies.
The sheriff also emphasized the need for new roads along the border, which is part of the Trump administration&#8217;s construction plans, so authorities can have better access to the frontlines.
&#8220;I believe in barriers where barriers are necessary, and this isn&#8217;t an area where barriers are necessary because we have that time and distance and technology to fill those gaps,&#8221; he said.

The Trump administration wants migrant children who came to the United States alone to feel empowered to seek help if they have become victimized by traffickers.
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) plans to release a 30-second video this week informing migrant children about the Office of Refugee Resettlement’s National Call Center, a hotline where they can seek help if they&#8217;re being abused or exploited, The Daily Wire has learned.
The video, which includes Spanish subtitles, urges migrant children who are in forced labor or exploitative conditions to call a number for support.
Once a child reports abuse, Homeland Security Investigations will &#8220;immediately&#8221; open an investigation, often &#8220;within hours,&#8221; and begin tracking down the victim, John Fabbricatore, a senior advisor at HHS leading the effort to track down the thousands of migrant kids who went unaccounted for under the Biden administration, told The Daily Wire.
&#8220;It&#8217;s a tool in our toolbox that we can put out there to hopefully get some information on children that are still out there,&#8221; Fabbricatore, who previously served as the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office director in Denver, said.

Under then-President Joe Biden&#8217;s watch, federal authorities lost track of roughly 320,000 migrant kids after they were released into the United States to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/inside-the-trump-administrations-effort-to-stop-child-migrant-trafficking?row=0&amp;elementPosition=1&amp;rowType=Web+Search+Overlay">poorly vetted sponsors</a>, according to an August 2024 inspector general’s report.
The Biden administration&#8217;s hotline for migrant minors in distress also had 65,000 unanswered calls, Fabbricatore said.
Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said Monday that federal authorities have now located more than 148,000 previously unaccounted-for children.
Mullin said the administration &#8220;will not stop fighting until every last one is rescued.&#8221;
Roughly 291,000 of the migrant children were never given future court dates, making it nearly impossible for federal authorities to know their whereabouts, according to the inspector general report. 

There were another 32,000 migrant children that were released with hearing dates but failed to appear in court, according to the report, which tracked cases from October 2018 to September 2023.
Federal whistleblowers also exposed the faulty vetting system that they said placed some of the children with gang members, criminals, and traffickers.
Since President Donald Trump&#8217;s return to the White House, the vetting process has been completely overhauled.
The Trump administration now requires sponsors and other adults living in their home to provide their fingerprints for thorough background checks. DNA testing is required for sponsors who claim to be relatives of the child.
Homeland Security agents must also meet with the sponsor and HHS officials inspect the sponsor&#8217;s home to ensure it&#8217;s suitable for the child.
Fabbricatore emphasized that the Trump administration won&#8217;t &#8220;tolerate children being placed with sponsors who pose risks to their safety and well-being.&#8221;
&#8220;It&#8217;s very important that we&#8217;re not just releasing children into the community that are just going to disappear,&#8221; Fabbricatore said.
&#8220;We want to make sure that if there is a release that we&#8217;ve gone through an entire process to make sure that that child is going into a safe environment,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We&#8217;re not releasing kids within a matter of minutes or days like the last administration did.&#8221;

A Republican senator introduced a bill on Monday that would allow states to run visa programs to fill labor shortages.
Senator John Curtis (R-UT) announced the State Sponsored Visa Pilot Program Act of 2026 to empower states to expand the number of foreign workers given visas, <a href="https://www.deseret.com/politics/2026/08/03/senators-introduce-bipartisan-state-sponsored-migrant-worker-visa-program/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Deseret News. The proposed program would allow states to bring in up to 5,000 migrant workers per fiscal year, plus a proportional cut of a separate 245,000-visa pool based on population.
The bill also caps state-sponsored visas at three years.
Under the bill, visa holders who have been in the United States illegally since December 31, 2016, would have a path to legal residency. The illegal immigrants seeking residency would be required to pay a $1,000 &#8220;penalty,&#8221; according to the bill&#8217;s text.
Curtis, who introduced the proposal alongside Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ), said his state is in desperate need of workers.
“I’ve heard time and again from small business owners, farmers, and ranchers across Utah how difficult it has become to hire enough workers to meet growing market demands,” Curtis said in a statement.
“Our legislation would help fill the gap by creating a pilot program allowing states to sponsor visas tailored to their unique economies, without sacrificing rigorous federal vetting or accountability,&#8221; he added.
The proposal comes after House Agriculture Committee Chair Glenn “GT” Thompson (R-PA) recently <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/new-republican-amnesty-bill-ignites-ire-of-immigration-hardliners?author=Jennie+Taer&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=19&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=New+Republican+Amnesty+Bill+Ignites+Ire+Of+Immigration+Hardliners">introduced</a> a separate bill to provide illegal immigrant farmworkers with a path to temporary legal status. Thompson&#8217;s bill quickly faced an onslaught of criticism from immigration hawks.
Gregory Bovino, the former Border Patrol official who led the Trump administration’s aggressive immigration raids in Minneapolis and other major cities, <a href="https://x.com/GregoryKBovino/status/2079545595359092890" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> the bill&#8217;s Republican backers “just stabbed Trump’s deportation promise in the back.”
“They’re only gonna get the message one way. Vote every single one of them out in a massive wave, and replace them with real immigration hawks. Anything less, and they’ll never take us seriously,” Bovino wrote in a recent X post.
For supporters of the bill like John Hollay, president and CEO of the National Council of Agricultural Employers, the Visa plan is viewed as a necessary tool to address a yearslong farming “labor crisis.”
“They can’t get the help they need to harvest their crops and astronomical labor costs have pushed many lifelong farmers to the brink of bankruptcy,” Thompson <a href="https://www.facebook.com/reel/872828202078448" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>.
“This is happening because the very program that once kept farmers in business is sinking under the weight of bureaucratic costs. Without reform, the H-2A visa program may now be the reason these same farms cannot be passed on to the next generation,” he said.

Heroic Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers on duty arresting illegal immigrants stumbled upon a 2-year-old wandering the streets in nothing but a dirty diaper and stopped what they were doing to rescue him, The Daily Wire has learned.
On July 13, ICE officers conducting a &#8220;routine enforcement operation&#8221; outside Nashville in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, an area with a large population of illegal immigrants, were stopped in their tracks when they saw a small child who was wandering alone in the road in a heavily soiled diaper and was almost struck by a passing vehicle, the agency said. It appeared that the young child had been roaming the streets for several hours without any adult supervision.
The ICE officers, some of whom are fathers, quickly took the child into safety.
Officer Michael Joyce, who is part of an ICE Nashville Fugitive Operations Team, said the young boy was standing in the middle of the parking lot when he arrived. The brave officer blocked traffic while his team called local police and located the child&#8217;s mother, who was asleep in a nearby apartment with the door wide-open.
She appeared to be unaware that her son had wandered off.
“Our officers are trained to respond to emergencies and protect the public, no matter the circumstances,” ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations New Orleans acting Field Office Director Scott Ladwig, whose office oversees operations in Tennessee, said in a statement.
“We’re grateful that our team was able to act quickly and help ensure this child’s safety,&#8221; Ladwig said. &#8220;Supporting our communities and working alongside local law enforcement is a responsibility we take seriously.&#8221;
The Murfreesboro Police Department returned the little boy to his mother, who told officers that it was the first time her child left their home alone, ICE said. No criminal charges were filed against the mother.
Officials also notified the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services.

A non-English-speaking Ukrainian migrant killed two people while driving a semi-truck in Alabama after becoming distracted by his phone. Now, he&#8217;s getting off with a slap on the wrist.
Andrii Dmyterko recently took a plea deal, pleading guilty to two misdemeanor counts of criminally negligent homicide, while prosecutors dismissed two felony charges of homicide by vehicle, Fox 10 <a href="https://www.facebook.com/icegov/videos/1414187794142445/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. He received a sentence of two years in Clarke County jail and was credited for 430 days, meaning he will need to serve less than a year behind bars.
While behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler on May 6, 2025, Dmyterko crashed into four vehicles stopped at a red light, resulting in the deaths of two people. Dmyterko didn&#8217;t stop until his truck was roughly the length of two football fields from the crash scene.
The victims of the crash were later identified as Woodie Earl Beck III, 53, and Ashley Marie Springer McDonald, 37, <a href="https://www.al.com/crime/2025/05/truck-driver-charged-in-alabama-crash-that-killed-coach-woman-was-distracted-by-phone-records-say.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to AL.com.
In an effort to ensure the Ukrainian national stays locked up, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2026/07/21/ice-asks-alabama-not-release-alien-convicted-fatal-truck-crash-killed-two-alabama" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lodged</a> a detainer with local authorities in Alabama requesting that they hand him over upon his eventual release.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said the Biden administration let Dmyterko into the country in 2024 through its humanitarian parole program for Ukraine.
That same year, he applied for a work visa and received one, DHS said.
“This alien from Ukraine was paroled into our country by the Biden Administration. Now, because of his reckless driving behind the wheel of a semi-truck, two people are dead,&#8221; Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Lauren Bis said in a statement earlier last month.
“ICE has lodged a detainer asking Alabama officials to cooperate with us and turn him over when his sentence is complete so that we can remove him from our country,&#8221; Bis added.
The Trump administration has enacted new training requirements for individuals seeking Commercial Driver&#8217;s Licenses to drive heavy trucks following a string of crashes by foreign drivers, some of whom were in the country illegally. Among the changes is the enforcement of an English-language requirement.
President Donald Trump also recently <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/inside-trumps-patriotic-plan-to-replace-illegal-immigrant-truck-drivers">introduced a plan</a> to train American veterans to replace illegal immigrant truck drivers.
The new program would allow veterans with <a href="https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/military-skills-test-waiver" target="_blank" rel="noopener">two years</a> of experience safely operating heavy military vehicles to bypass the traditional CDL <a href="https://www.roehl.jobs/driving-jobs/cdl-truck-driving-schools/cdl-school-cost" target="_blank" rel="noopener">training process</a>, which takes roughly three to eight weeks and often costs applicants between $3,000 and $6,000.
In a recent X post discussing the new program, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said he has &#8220;ZERO TOLERANCE for any Americans being put in harm&#8217;s way,&#8221; adding that it &#8220;shouldn’t be a partisan issue.&#8221;

The mass migration event taking place in Ceuta, Spain, is a result of multiple push and pull factors that enticed thousands to make the swim from Morocco this week.

For days leading up to the surge, a steady flow of hundreds of migrants entered the Spanish enclave, which is located 11 miles from mainland Spain and can be accessed via ferry.
Spain&#8217;s Interior Ministry in a Thursday <a href="https://www.interior.gob.es/opencms/es/detalle/articulo/Comunicado-sobre-la-situacion-en-la-ciudad-autonoma-de-Ceuta/">statement</a> attributed the earlier influx to &#8220;a court ruling to encourage the flow of undocumented migrants, mostly young people.&#8221;
Earlier this month, Spain’s Supreme Court ruled that migrants crossing by sea cannot be immediately deported.
“It has been a slow trickle since the Supreme Court’s ruling, but today has been an explosion,” a spokesman for Spain’s Guardia Civil police told Reuters Thursday.
Earlier this year, Spain&#8217;s far-left Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez allowed more than one million migrants to receive amnesty in an effort to counteract &#8220;MAGA-style leaders&#8221; shutting the doors to illegal immigration, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/30/world/europe/spain-migrants-legal-status.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to The New York Times. The total number of applications was more than double what the government initially expected.
&#8220;What should we do with these people? Some leaders have chosen to hunt them down and deport them through operations that are both unlawful and cruel. My government has chosen a different way: a fast and simple path to regularize their immigration status,&#8221; Sánchez <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/02/04/opinion/spain-migrants-europe.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a> in a New York Times op-ed in February.
&#8220;MAGA-style leaders may say that our country can’t handle taking in so many migrants — that this is a suicidal move, the desperate act of a collapsing country. But don’t let them fool you. Spain is booming,&#8221; he wrote.
Sánchez traveled to Ceuta on Friday after deploying the Spanish military to quell the ongoing chaos. His government has so far refused to make an emergency declaration, as requested by the local government in Ceuta, since Spain&#8217;s civil protection procedures don&#8217;t consider migration flows a risk to national security, the Associated Press <a href="https://apnews.com/article/spain-ceuta-tarajal-morocco-migrants-5c864e5f951e2a7cf7a3eac417668e97" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
During his visit, Sánchez pledged to start removing some of the migrants and fortifying the maritime border.
&#8220;The Government will guarantee the safety of the residents of Ceuta, intensifying the presence of the Security Forces and Corps on the city&#8217;s streets. Additionally, we will deploy a physical containment barrier in the sea to facilitate repatriation at the border, in compliance with the Supreme Court ruling,&#8221; Sánchez said.
&#8220;We will expedite the repatriation files of the migrants who arrived irregularly. And we will maintain cooperation with the Moroccan authorities to continue fighting against the mafias that traffic in human beings,&#8221; he added.

On the Moroccan side, authorities clashed overnight with migrants making their way to Ceuta, deploying tear gas and water cannons. In the streets, vehicles were set ablaze amid the chaos.
But some migrants say that authorities in Morocco are helping facilitate their movement.
Moroccan national Ajoub el-Arrot, 24, who entered Ceuta, Spain, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/live/2026/07/31/world/spain-ceuta-migrants-morocco" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> The New York Times that Moroccan authorities &#8220;opened the border and let everyone go by,&#8221; adding, “I don’t know why they let us through.&#8221;
Migrants are continuing to flock to nearby Fnideq, Morocco, which has become a launching point for those making the trek to Ceuta.
Tensions in Ceuta remain high as migrants who have not eaten in days scour the town for food, as local officials say there&#8217;s no plan to feed or shelter the new arrivals. Some of the migrants have already chosen to turn around because they&#8217;re not getting any food as grocery stores shut their doors to them.

Surrounded by a horde of Moroccan migrant men shouting and pushing, Ceuta resident Rocio cried out for help from the Spanish government, which she said has been missing in action amid the influx. Between Thursday and Friday, roughly 60,000 migrants, mainly young men, swam or scaled border fences into Ceuta, which sits on the African continent.
Nearly three dozen people are dead, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/live/2026/07/31/world/spain-ceuta-migrants-morocco" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to The New York Times.
&#8220;We are afraid. We cannot condone this. Where are our rights as Spaniards? Where are our principles as Spaniards? &#8230; They need to fortify this city. We need police on the streets, the civil guard on the streets, we need the military on the streets. They&#8217;re not there; we&#8217;re alone. We cannot call the police or the civil guard because they can&#8217;t keep up. We need urgent help,&#8221; Rocio said during a televised interview.
She went on to call the situation an &#8220;invasion&#8221; as she broke down in tears. That was when the migrant men standing behind her began shouting.
&#8220;This is really outrageous. I am surrounded, I&#8217;m afraid. How can I not be afraid? I even feel like crying. This can&#8217;t go on, this can&#8217;t go on, really. This can&#8217;t go on; we need help. The thing is, I&#8217;m shaking. Really, this has to be lived through. You have to live through this as a woman. You have to live through this as a woman,&#8221; Rocio said.
&#8220;You have to live through this to understand it,&#8221; she said. &#8220;This is an invasion. They&#8217;ve started with Ceuta, but this is the border to Spain, the border to Europe. Today it was Melilla, tomorrow it will be the Canary Islands. The day after, it will be Tarifa.&#8221;
At the end of the interview, the reporter remarked that the migrant group closing in behind them couldn&#8217;t be kept away or controlled.
&#8220;They&#8217;ve started approaching us. I am asking them to stay away, but there&#8217;s no way,&#8221; the reporter said. The men then clapped but didn&#8217;t appear to understand what the women had said.
