Pope Francis defended the Black Lives Matter protests that unfolded in the wake of George Floyd&#8217;s death while denouncing those protesting the COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions.
In a new book, “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Let-Us-Dream-Better-Future/dp/1982171863?tag=nypost-20" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" data-ga-event="{&quot;category&quot;:&quot;affiliate ecommerce click&quot;,&quot;action&quot;:&quot;amazon&quot;,&quot;label&quot;:&quot;https://www.amazon.com/Let-Us-Dream-Better-Future/dp/1982171863?tag=nypost-20&quot;}">Let Us Dream</a>,” the Roman pontiff decried police brutality as an affront to human dignity, and encouraged people to march in opposition.
“Abuse is a gross violation of human dignity that we cannot allow and which we must continue to struggle against,” he wrote, as reported by <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/world/pope-francis-george-floyd-protests-coronavirus-book">Fox News</a>.
Regarding the protests against the COVID-19 lockdowns in Europe and elsewhere, Pope Francis said the people were striking against &#8220;measures that governments must impose for the good of their people constitute some kind of political assault on autonomy or personal freedom!”
The Holy Father got even more direct by comparing the two groups of people, failing to note that the Black Lives Matter protests gave way to riots and looting in the streets. Anti-lockdown protests do not appear to sparked similar widespread violence, at least in the United States.
“You’ll never find such people protesting the death of George Floyd, or joining a demonstration because there are shantytowns where children lack water or education,” he wrote. “They turned into a cultural battle what was in truth an effort to ensure the protection of life.”
In another segment, Pope Francis decried those in the media who “used this crisis to persuade people that foreigners are to blame, that the coronavirus is little more than a little bout of flu, and that restrictions necessary for people’s protection amount to an unjust demand of an interfering state.”
“There are politicians who peddle these narratives for their own gain. But they could not succeed without some media creating and spreading them,” he wrote.
Pope Francis also expressed empathy for those sick with COVID-19, citing his own health experiences when he had one of his lungs removed in his youth.
“I know from experience the feeling of those who are sick with coronavirus, struggling to breathe as they are attached to a ventilator,” he said.
“For months I didn’t know who I was, if I would live or die, even the doctors didn’t know. I remember hugging my mother one day and asking her if I was about to die,&#8221; he added.

The head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said Tuesday that a COVID-19 vaccine will begin to become available in the U.S. &#8220;probably by the end of the second week in December.&#8221;
CDC Director Robert Redfield, appearing on Fox News&#8217; &#8220;The Daily Briefing,&#8221; <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/health/redfield-projects-covid-19-vaccine-to-be-rolled-out-by-end-of-the-second-week-in-december">said</a> that a vaccine would at first be distributed &#8220;in a hierarchical way&#8221; with priority going to &#8220;nursing home residents and then some combination of health care providers and individuals at high risk for a poor outcome.&#8221;
On Monday, AstraZeneca and Oxford University said their jointly created COVID-19 vaccine has proven to be up to 90% effective and easier to distribute than another potential vaccine, which must be kept at sub-zero temperatures.
“These findings show that we have an effective vaccine that will save many lives,” said Oxford University professor Andrew Pollard, who served as the lead investigator for the drug&#8217;s trials. “Because the vaccine can be stored at fridge temperatures, it can be distributed around the world using the normal immunization distribution system. And so our goal &#8230; to make sure that we have a vaccine that was accessible everywhere, I think we’ve actually managed to do that.”
Two other drug makers in recent weeks have also announced successful tests of COVID-19 vaccines.
A new Moderna vaccine that was developed in conjunction with the Trump administration’s Operation Warp Speed is nearly 95% effective, according to the company.
“The analysis evaluated 95 confirmed Covid-19 infections among the trial’s 30,000 participants,” CNBC reported earlier this month. “Moderna, which developed its vaccine in collaboration with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said 90 cases of Covid-19 were observed in the placebo group versus 5 cases observed in the group that received its two-dose vaccine. That resulted in an estimated vaccine efficacy of 94.5%.”
And the pharmaceutical company Pfizer said on Nov. 9 that its developmental vaccine for COVID-19 may be 90% effective at inoculating people against the disease. The rate of effectiveness was calculated by analyzing early data from 94 trial participants in a study involving 43,538 subjects from all over the world.
“Overall, if both the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are approved by the FDA,  the U.S. could have as many as 60 million doses of vaccine available by the end of the year,” Fox <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/health/how-many-doses-moderna-coronavirus-vaccine-available">reported</a>. “[T]he government could have access to more than 1 billion doses from the two vaccine makers alone by 2021.”
But the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is cheaper than both of the others. &#8220;AstraZeneca, which has pledged it won’t make a profit on the vaccine during the pandemic, has reached agreements with governments and international health organizations that put its cost at about $2.50 a dose. Pfizer’s vaccine costs about $20 a dose, while Moderna’s is $15 to $25, based on agreements the companies have struck to supply their vaccines to the U.S. government,&#8221; the Associated Press <a href="https://apnews.com/article/pfizer-vaccine-effective-early-data-4f4ae2e3bad122d17742be22a2240ae8">reported</a>.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has scheduled a Dec. 10 meeting of its Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee to discuss Pfizer&#8217;s request for emergency use authorization (EUA) of its vaccine candidate.

In what a group of California District Attorneys is calling “the most significant fraud on taxpayer funds in California history,” a possible $1 billion in taxpayer-funded COVID unemployment benefits went to convicted murderers, rapists, and death row inmates in the California prison system.
The <a href="https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2020-11-24/california-has-sent-jobless-benefits-to-death-row-inmates?fbclid=IwAR0p2GJP-nN8vXNkIqmongcDP6wJCQtSgU0gxGtEBq0dpECOsFOIp1lHxmM">Los Angeles Times</a> reports that the &#8220;pandemic relief system administered by the state Employment Development Department” issued checks to hundreds of incarcerated individuals, including high-profile convicted murderer Scott Peterson.
&#8220;Nine district attorneys across California and a federal prosecutor on Tuesday made these allegations and called for Gov. Gavin Newsom to intervene to stop such unemployment swindling in California jails and prisons,&#8221; the outlet reported, noting that the money went to prisoners, who are ineligible for unemployment relief &#8212; including COVID unemployment relief — through &#8220;fraud that involves identity theft of prisoners as well as alleged scams by individual inmates and organized gangs to game the state system.&#8221;
So far, investigators have officially discovered at more than $100 million in misdirected funds, but the attorneys who signed Tuesday&#8217;s letter say they believe that once a full investigation has concluded, the losses could total around $1 billion.
&#8220;So far, investigations have uncovered more than $400,000 in state benefits paid to death row inmates, and more than $140 million to other incarcerated people in California’s 38 prisons, according to Sacramento County Dist. Atty. Anne Marie Schubert, who helped organize and lead a task force that uncovered the alleged dupery,&#8221; the LA Times notes. &#8220;In total, payments to those ineligible due to incarceration in prisons and jails could total nearly $1 billion, the prosecutors claim.&#8221;
In one county alone, prosecutors anticipate more than $10 million in misdirected funds &#8212; enough that they&#8217;re calling on Newsom to take immediate action.
&#8220;Kern County Dist. Atty. Cynthia Zimmer, whose district has five prisons, the most of any county in California, called the scope of the scams shocking. Zimmer said her office had found about $16 million in allegedly fraudulent claims in her county alone,&#8221; the L.A. Times reports.
One facility &#8212; Pleasant Valley State Prison &#8212; is home to around 850 questionable claims, potentially totaling $3.6 million in appropriated taxpayer funds.
It&#8217;s not clear how much of the unemployment money was stolen, the attorneys say, because there are several schemes involved, and there are individual families, unaffiliated with any larger effort, who may have applied for COVID relief money on behalf of incarcerated relatives &#8212; a form of identity theft.
California Governor Gavin Newsom, already under fire for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic, tried to quash concerns about the fraud in a statement Tuesday, pledging to appoint a statewide task force to investigate, but some state officials noted that there are so many Californians in need of unemployment assistance as a result of continued lockdowns, that the problem may be too big to manage &#8212; and Newsom&#8217;s efforts may be too late.
“To expedite and strengthen these efforts I have directed the Office of Emergency Services to stand up a task force to coordinate state efforts and support investigations by local District Attorneys,” Newsom said. “We will continue to fully partner with law enforcement and direct as many resources as needed to investigate and resolve this issue speedily. While we have made improvements, we need to do more. Everything the state does will be done in partnership with the local District Attorneys and I thank them for their commitment to resolving this issue as quickly as possible.”

The United States Attorney for the District of Columbia will not pursue an investigation into whether the demonstrators who attacked Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and others following President Donald Trump&#8217;s Republican National Convention acceptance speech at the White House are affiliated with any national groups like &#8220;Antifa.&#8221;
Paul was one of several people attacked by a number of protesters as he left the White House speech back in late August. The mob, whom Paul said numbered in the dozens, screamed at the Kentucky Senator and demanded that he pursue justice for Breonna Taylor, a Louisville, Kentucky, woman killed by police during a raid earlier this year.
Paul later pointed out that the mob was uninformed; he authored the Justice for Breonna Taylor Act in Congress calling for an end to so-called &#8220;no-knock warrants&#8221; similar to ones that racial justice activists claim resulted in Taylor&#8217;s death. A Kentucky grand jury, which refused to indict the officers involved in the incident, was reportedly told that the raid was not, in fact, pursuant to a no-knock warrant.
At the time, Paul told media that he believed many of the protesters who attacked RNC attendees had traveled from outside the city, a claim borne out by evidence that key &#8220;anti-fascist&#8221; activists from places like Portland, Oregon, were identified as being among those demonstrating against the president during the RNC. The infamous Antifa &#8220;snack van&#8221; &#8212; a fixture of anti-Trump administration protests in Portland &#8212; was <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8685967/BLM-protester-arrested-DC-Kenosha-Portland-riots.html">spotted in the city at the time</a>, for example.
“I promise you that at least some of the members and the people who attacked us were not from D.C., they flew here on a plane, they all have fresh new clothes and they were paid to be here,” Paul told Fox News. “It is a crime to do that and it needs to be traced. The FBI needs to investigate.”
On Tuesday, though, Paul noted on Twiter that the U.S. Attorney would not be pursuing an investigation.
“The DC U.S. Attorney today confirmed to me that they will not pursue an investigation of who is funding the thugs who attacked my wife and me and sent a DC police officer to the hospital,” he noted.
DC police, though, are investigating whether at least one protester &#8212; the owner of the Antifa &#8220;snack van&#8221; &#8212; received funding to travel to Washington, D.C., during the RNC. The same van was spotted in Kenosha, Wisconsin, during protests and unrest there, following a police-involved shooting there.
The Department of Justice and the FBI are also pursuing their own investigation into &#8220;Antifa&#8221; and &#8220;anti-facist&#8221; organizations, which they believe may communicate and organize through a national network. According to Newsweek, there have been few public updates about that investigation, but the DOJ is operating under the assumption that &#8220;Antifa&#8221; coordinated incidents of unrest across the country over the summer, resulting in millions of dollars in damage to cities like Portland, Minneapolis, Chicago, and Seattle.

Joe Biden announced during an NBC News interview that aired on Tuesday evening that he will immediately move to give citizenship to millions of illegal aliens once he gets into office in two months.
“I’m going to make a commitment in the first 100 days, I will send an immigration bill to the United States Senate with a pathway to citizenship for over 11 million undocumented people in America,” Biden said. “I will also be moving to do away with some of the I think very damaging executive orders that have significantly impacted on making the climate worse and making us less healthy.”
Biden has already <a href="https://www.npr.org/2020/11/20/937105545/biden-gives-new-hope-to-refugees-fleeing-religious-persecution">pledged</a> to dramatically increase the number of refugees that he admits into the U.S. from 15,000 under President Donald Trump to 125,000. Biden has also <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2020/07/20/biden-pledges-to-end-trumps-muslim-ban-on-his-first-day-in-office.html">pledged</a> to end the Trump administration&#8217;s travel ban on nations that are considered to be hot beds of terrorism.
Whether Biden is able to grant citizenship to millions of people who are unlawfully in the U.S. depends on who controls the Senate, which could be decided in January as Georgia has two runoff elections. If Republicans win just one of the two races they will keep control of the Senate when Biden takes office. Democrats would need to win both races just to have a 50-50 tie with Republicans and would need all 50 of their Senators to vote together so that incoming-Vice President Kamala Harris could be the tie breaker.
However, even if Democrats manage to win both races, they are likely to face some opposition from within their own party to some of the extreme proposals that have been floated on the political Left.
Democrat Senator Joe Manchin (WV) pledged during a Fox News interview earlier this month that he would block proposed power grabs by his own party.
The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/abolish-the-senate-trends-on-the-left-after-democrat-senator-joe-manchin-makes-pledge-during-interview">reported</a>:

There’s a lot of fear tactics that are being used right now,” Manchin said. “If both of the Georgia senators were elected from the Democratic Party, then that would be 50/50, if both Dan Sullivan and Thom Tillis win; 50/50 means there’s a tie. But if one senator does not vote on the Democratic side, there is no tie and there is no bill.”
“So, I commit to you tonight and I commit to all of your viewers and everyone else that’s watching, I want to lay those fears, I want to rest those fears for you right now, because, when they talk about whether it be packing the courts or ending the filibuster, I will not vote to do that,” Manchin continued. “I will not vote to pack the courts. I think — and I will not vote to end the filibuster. Bret, this system, the Senate, this so unique body in the world, it was made to work together in a bipartisan way. And once you start breaking down those barriers, then you lose every reason that we are the institution that we are, the most deliberative body.”
“So, I want to lay those fears to rest, that that won’t happen, because I will not be the 50th Democrat voting to end that filibuster or to basically stack the court,” he added. “And then all the other things you’re hearing about, Bret, also, is — defund the police. I don’t know of any of the Democrats in the caucus that are for defunding the police. We are not for that whatsoever. And when they talk about basically Medicare for All, we can’t even pay for Medicare for some. It doesn’t make any sense at all. We have got to fix the Affordable Care Act we have. And I think our Republican — moderate Republicans will work with us to now repair what needs to be repaired.”

Following eight long months of heartbreak, panic, and despair stemming from the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/collections/coronavirus-collection">Covid crisis</a>, government has once again worsened an already-terrible situation.
It’s not difficult to see how the government’s reaction to the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/khan-4-factors-suggest-covid-19-lockdowns-restrictions-have-caused-more-harm-than-good">pandemic</a> has accelerated our path towards America’s economic ruin. Since the lockdowns began in March, roughly 163,000 businesses have closed their doors with the intention of doing so temporarily. Of these, <a href="https://fortune.com/2020/09/28/covid-buisnesses-shut-down-closed/">nearly 100,000</a> have been forced to close permanently. Other estimates suggest that, by the time the pandemic is over, as many as <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2020/09/16/yelp-data-shows-60percent-of-business-closures-due-to-the-coronavirus-pandemic-are-now-permanent.html">60%</a> of all COVID-related business closings will be permanent, with <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/u-n-warns-hunger-pandemic-amid-threats-coronavirus-economic-downturn-n1189326">130 million people</a> worldwide expected to starve due to government lockdowns.
Despite this tremendous loss of wealth and productivity, an extremely fortunate few have thrived in ways that would have been impossible without the government-mandated Covid lockdowns.
Standing head-and-shoulders above the tempestuous sea of economic uncertainty is multinational tech giant Amazon. Following a <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/business-52495958">26% surge</a> in sales throughout the first fiscal quarter of 2020, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos captured the attention of the globe by <a href="https://www.marketwatch.com/story/amazons-ceo-tells-investors-if-youre-shareowner-you-may-want-to-take-a-seat-as-he-explains-why-the-company-will-spend-entirety-of-4-billion-profit-2020-04-30?mod=article_inline">declaring</a>, “If you’re a shareowner in Amazon, you may want to take a seat, because we’re not thinking small.” At the end of the second quarter, the company posted <a href="https://www.marketwatch.com/story/amazon-promised-to-spend-all-its-profit-but-pandemic-sales-grew-too-fast-and-it-still-earned-billions-2020-07-30#:~:text=Amazon%20said%20it%20expects%20revenue,costs%20related%20to%20COVID%2D19.">record earnings</a>. One quarter later, Amazon saw its <a href="https://press.aboutamazon.com/news-releases/news-release-details/amazoncom-announces-third-quarter-results">profits jump again</a> by an additional 37% to $96.1 billion (compared with $70 billion at the same point in 2019).
But Amazon is not the only major company thriving amidst the chaos. In August, Walmart announced that it had enjoyed its <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2020/08/18/walmart-wmt-q2-2021-earnings.html#:~:text=In%20the%20second%20quarter%2C%20Walmart,per%20share%2C%20a%20year%20earlier.&amp;text=Excluding%20items%2C%20the%20company%20earned,by%20analysts%20surveyed%20by%20Refinitiv.">highest earnings in 31 years</a>, with e-commerce sales up <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/shelleykohan/2020/08/19/walmarts-e-commerce-grows-97-compared-to-industrys-27/?sh=4447e35128ca">97%</a> in one quarter. Apple is also posting <a href="https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2020/07/apple-reports-third-quarter-results/#:~:text=Cupertino%2C%20California%20%E2%80%94%20July%2030%2C,of%20%242.58%2C%20up%2018%20percent.">double-digit levels of growth</a>, with third-quarter revenue at $59.7 billion — 11% higher than in 2019. “Apple is in the midst of our most prolific product introduction period ever,” boasted Apple CEO Tim Cook last month. “From remote learning to the home office, Apple products have been a window to the world for users as the pandemic continues&#8230;”
The picture could hardly be clearer: As Americans are forced to isolate in their homes, endure poverty rates now <a href="https://static1.squarespace.com/static/5743308460b5e922a25a6dc7/t/5f87c59e4cd0011fabd38973/1602733471158/COVID-Projecting-Poverty-Monthly-CPSP-2020.pdf">rivaling the Great Recession</a>, and watch their locally owned businesses crumble, ultra-wealthy corporations capable of large-scale home delivery are eagerly positioning themselves as the only resource for essential household and teleworking needs. Such a bleak state of affairs could not reflect the vision of free-market capitalism any less; the state picking winners and losers is the very definition of crony capitalism. Corporations should have all the freedom in the world to make profits, but not as a result of the government shutting down the competition.
Like most government actions, Covid lockdowns have produced the exact opposite of their intended effect, stacking the cards against the hardworking small business owners who make this country great. The time is long past due to fight back against this tyrannical attempt to redefine the proper role of government. We either believe in liberty in times of crisis, or we do not believe in liberty at all.

Everyone sucks, and that is why you should make extra sure to have a very happy Thanksgiving this year.
No, seriously. The most needful reminder of all this year is that everyone is — categorically, scripturally, and historically — the worst. The tale of humanity is a tale of murder, war, rape, disease, and other assorted catastrophes. I do not mean to be flippant about such things. They are agony, but they are the norm.
And so in order to grasp the true character of any event in any human society, one must understand that a large amount of human history is quite painful and terrible. There is no pure and unblemished culture against which we can measure the atrocities of those big bad Europeans who came to settle the New World centuries ago. You don’t need religion to tell you this: you just need a few history books and a pair of eyes.
Against this rather grim backdrop there occasionally emerge, by the grace of God, a few spots of light. The story of Thanksgiving is one such spot. The Puritan Pilgrims were what is called “Separatists” from the Church of England because of their refusal to participate in rituals they deemed unbiblical. They had been “harried” (to use the language King James employed at the time) out of their native land. Though they found sanctuary for a while in the Dutch town of Leiden, they so yearned to raise their children apart from the seductions of the world that they felt called to set out for distant shores.
On the way, they were given the runaround by some thoroughly opportunistic businessmen called “The Adventurers,” kept from departure until the worst possible time, and shunted into a 75-foot-long cavern in the belly of a ship, the Mayflower, which would suffer hair-raising damage on the 65-day journey to the New World.
They arrived to find the native Wampanoags either thoroughly wiped out by disease, or else humiliated by forced capitulation to sworn enemies such as the Narragansett. Of those who had occupied the area of Patuxet, now called Plymouth, only one, Squanto, remained alive — and that was because he had been enslaved, carried to Europe, and forced to find his way home after regaining freedom.
Half the Pilgrims died during their first brutal winter in Plymouth. Their meeting with Squanto and the regional chief, Massasoit, likely saved them from ruin. And so it was that, 399 years ago, in 1621, the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag made a pact that would last for decades of peace.
It can only be understood as a miracle: these two battered, beleaguered people, rendered desperate and needy by the cruel violence of this fallen world, came together in the midst of it all — all the disease, all the heartache, all the fear — and they broke bread. Like all miracles, it was a moment in which the warmth of fellowship glowed defiantly in spite of all else — a moment puncturing through the darkness, providing some hint that we are more than this world makes us out to be.
And indeed we are, though disease and fear threaten us still. We are told this year that we must not gather, because it is not safe to do so. But just like the accusation that the European settlers of America were uniquely evil, this warning against the plague of coronavirus is based on a deep misunderstanding about what kind of world it is we live in.
It is never simple, never clean, never easy, to do the things we humans are called by God himself to do. Eating together, building families, building nations: these things are not safe. Never have been, never will be. We do them anyway, not because we can be assured of their success or their security, but because our gift and our duty is to rejoice together in the midst of all this mess. Now we are told to wait until the mess is cleaned up. That is nonsense. We will die before that happens, and we will never have lived.
The Pilgrims’ eventual governor, William Bradford, <a href="http://www.gutenberg.org/files/24950/24950-h/24950-h.htm" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=http://www.gutenberg.org/files/24950/24950-h/24950-h.htm&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1606332440226000&amp;usg=AOvVaw39QeoD8zTcdsAwX8CKJjU7">wrote</a> in his record of the journey that when the group left Holland, they were deathly afraid and bitterly sad. But “they knew they were pilgrims, and looked not much on those things, but lift[ed] up their eyes to the heavens, their dearest country, and quieted their spirits.” So are we pilgrims, all of us, on this earth — here to find what joy in it we can. May your own Thanksgiving, and every Thanksgiving, be one moment of such joy. Do not wait until it is safe to make it so.

If 2018 was the Year of the Woman, then 2020 is the Year of the Republican Woman. 
But it wasn’t by accident. 
Just two years ago, Republicans elected just one new woman to the U.S. House of Representatives. Meanwhile, Democrats elected a wave of women to Congress who were rightfully applauded, celebrated, and featured on one magazine cover after the other. Too many qualified Republican women, however, watched from the sidelines. 
The Party vowed to change, sparking a movement led largely by women like Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY) and groups like Winning For Women Action Fund, the first Republican SuperPAC dedicated solely to electing women. This cycle, WFW Action Fund poured millions of dollars into races to support strong, qualified women candidates. 
For too long, Republican women have been targeted and outspent by the very groups on the Left that paint themselves as champions of women. But with new infrastructure built to counter these efforts, a slate of qualified candidates, and the support of Party leadership, Republicans ushered in a historic year for women. Next year, more Republican women than ever before will take seats in Congress.
Currently, nine of the twelve seats that Republicans flipped in the House were won by women from all walks of life. 
In Iowa, former TV news anchor and current state representative Ashley Hinson ousted one-term incumbent Abby Finkenauer. 
In Miami, Maria Elvira Salazar, a Cuban-American who knows firsthand the dangers of socialism, ousted one-term incumbent Donna Shalala. 
In Oklahoma, Stephanie Bice, who will be the first Iranian-American to serve in Congress, ousted one-term incumbent Kendra Horn.
In Minnesota, Collin Peterson was finally ousted after nearly 30 years in office. It took a Republican woman and the first woman to serve as Minnesota Senate President, Michelle Fischbach, to get it done.
The efforts this cycle should be the foundation of recruitment moving forward: seeking out and supporting qualified female candidates. When Republicans invest in women, Republicans win.
Electoral success is a numbers game that can’t be won unless the Republican Party continues to grow its tent. Republicans must work hard to ensure that conservative values like limited government, strong national defense, and economic opportunity resonate with as many Americans as possible. 
But when it comes to women, electing them is just one part of the equation. The Republican Party has long struggled appealing to some women, particularly suburban women. Winning these voters back will require sustained and focused outreach that makes a case for why voting Republican is in their best interest.  
Recent polling shows that three out of four Republicans believe having more female candidates would help win over more female voters. Meanwhile, the majority of Republicans polled said that having more Republican women in office helps ensure Republican women are appropriately represented. Ultimately, having more women at the helm of conservative politics is good for America.
Success among women, both candidates and voters, is critical to the long-term survival of the Republican Party. There’s no better or easier way to make gains on both fronts than by electing more qualified women. 
This election is a testament to the changing face of the Republican Party, which has proven its commitment to ensuring that more women see themselves and their interests reflected in the GOP. 
For the Republican Party, inclusion and diversity is the path forward. Let’s raise these women up as examples of leaders working to change their communities across the country. 
While 2020 is a great start, it is just the beginning.

Republicans Vowed To Elect More Women...They Did Just That

Parler, the social media platform founded in 2018 by software engineers John Matze and Jared Thomson, has been steadily gaining momentum in a landscape dominated by Silicon Valley giants such as Facebook and Twitter. 
The new social hub — which is built upon the notion of being open and transparent with its users and upholding free speech — experienced its most rapid rate of growth this month, amid the election. On November 9, according to market research firm <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2020/11/10/facebook-parler-election-claims/">Sensor Tower</a>, Parler had 850,000 downloads, its most successful day to date. The app climbed to the top spot of Apple’s App Store downloads chart, overtaking TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat.
Many of the users flocking to Parler were motivated by the way establishment social media networks such as Twitter and Facebook glaringly injected themselves into our political dialogue and acted as purveyors of truth. Both Facebook and Twitter appended their own “fact check” disclaimers and warnings to random user posts, suggesting that the articles they shared or the opinions they echoed were misleading or false. 
On October 14, further fueling distrust of Silicon Valley, Twitter actively suppressed a breaking New York Post story on Hunter Biden. The story, reporting on a trove of leaked emails, revealed dealings and negotiations between the Democratic Presidential candidate’s son and various foreign companies. Twitter not only locked the New York Post’s account, but they also locked out users and prevented them from sharing the article — as well as a subsequent piece from the Post. 
Suspicions of Twitter’s political bias have also stemmed from its executive personnel’s proclivities. Earlier this year, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey announced that he had donated 10 million dollars to the Boston University&#8217;s Center for Antiracist Research, founded by radical activist and author Ibram X. Kendi. Following President Trump’s recent nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court, Kendi <a href="https://twitter.com/dribram/status/1309916696296198146?lang=en">had said</a>, regarding Coney Barrett’s adopted Haitian children, “Some White colonizers “adopted” Black children. They “civilized” these “savage” children in the “superior” ways of White people, while using them as props in their lifelong pictures of denial, while cutting the biological parents of these children out of the picture of humanity.”
It was with this in mind that spates of social media users flocked to Parler, the platform loudly purporting to uphold neutrality in both its policies and practices. I spoke with Dan Bongino, a part-owner and investor in Parler, as well as the politically neutral alternative to YouTube, Rumbler. Bongino’s relationship with the social media app began with a sponsorship on his show. It was only later, roughly six months ago, after getting to know the service and the team behind it that Bongino decided to put his support behind the app’s mission and back them financially, upon which he also began acting as Parler’s strategic advisor. 
Amid its rising popularity and growth — especially amongst conservatives — Bongino explained that he and the team at Parler do not intend to market or portray the social media network as a political platform with any partisan bias. While maintaining that he is content with Parler courting conservative voices, Bongino insisted that Parler isn’t a political platform — nor does it intend to be. “Parler is not a political platform; it is a micro-blogging platform,” he asserted.
As Bongino emphasized, Parler is not exclusive to right-wing commentators. The network already boasts an eclectic array of users, including actors and musicians and entertainers, all enticed by the minimalist and trivial idea of free expression. Singer Joy Villa expressed her support for the app, stating “I love that Parler is transparent with who views my posts and that they promote and actually support free speech and free thought.”
With regards to Parler’s long-term plan for expanding their user base, and whether Bongino would like to see it politically diversify, Bongino recalled an anecdote. “When I was an instructor at the Secret Service Training Academy, Roger Ailes once came to speak at a graduation ceremony. During the Q/A period at the end of his speech, Aisles was asked about his business plan for Fox News; he responded by saying, ‘well, I found this untapped market called fifty-one percent of the population.’” 
Most people use Twitter for two reasons. First, to share their content and draw traffic to their site. The second reason is much less pragmatic but much more fun. There isn’t any single specific term for it, but it is best described as “political jousting.” The political joust is where all belligerents of any contested issue will flippantly hurl snide remarks and wryly snub each other’s work based purely on their ideology, without reading past headlines. This is the Twitter atmosphere in a nutshell and, while toxic and objectively unhealthy, it’s ultimately what keeps most users coming back, like junkies looking to get their next fix.  
I asked Bongino how Parler could hope to achieve or replicate the natural vigor of such an environment without an ample serving of all facets of the ideological spectrum. “I think you have this the wrong way around,” Bongino explained, “It is a false assumption that we [conservatives] are here to fight with liberals. It’s what you can live without. The real question people should be asking is, can liberals live without harassing us?” 
Elaborating on his point, Bongino invoked the Charles Krauthammer law. “To understand the workings of American politics, you have to understand this fundamental law: Conservatives think liberals are stupid. Liberals think conservatives are evil,” positing that liberals believe conservatives aren’t just wrong, they are morally deficient, and that it is “their life mission to harass us [conservatives]” and pontificate atop a moral high horse.” Bongino’s main point was that if conservatives all flocked to Parler, deserting Twitter entirely, Parler would not remain an ideological echo chamber for long, as liberals themselves would soon follow suit. “We can live without them; they cannot live without us,” he said. 
Bongino added, “I am convinced that over time, in a few months to a year, as more and more people start engaging on Parler, we will start having the opposite conversation: Why even be on Twitter?”
On the topic of Twitter’s terms and conditions — which are <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/05/29/twitters-double-standard-has-become-painfully-clear/">often criticized</a> as being both vague and selectively enforced, Bongino stated, “Parler’s rules are crystal clear,” pointing to the terse, two-page <a href="https://legal.parler.com/documents/guidelines.pdf">document</a> on the site’s page. He added that while the practice of tinkering content recommendation algorithms to favor liberal voices — a practice coined as “shadow-banning” — was a concern on Twitter, Parler eschews such vague content tailoring and instead only shows users posts from accounts they follow.
Commenting on Twitter’s most recent decision to insert fact-checks and warning labels into tweets it deemed to contain misinformation, Bongino explained, “Twitter’s CEO, Jack [Dorsey], himself admitted that they [Twitter] have no expertise in voter fraud. Parler is not a political or a fact-check platform.” 
Parler’s politically neutral underpinnings were recently emphasized by the site’s co-founder, Rebekah Mercer, who said, “John and I started Parler to provide a neutral platform for free speech, as our founders intended, and also to create a social media environment that would protect data privacy&#8230; The ever-increasing tyranny and hubris of our tech overlords demands that someone lead the fight against data mining, and for the protection of free speech online. That someone is Parler, a beacon to all who value their liberty, free speech and personal privacy.”
On Parler’s recent growth up, Bongino was elated, telling me, “this was a slow day, today, for Parler, we were only #14 in the App Store, ahead of Google and Disney. And this is with almost zero marketing budget.” 
The future growth and expansion of budding challengers to Silicon Valley’s monopoly on social media may still be uncertain. However, the last several months have glaringly exposed the true penchants of Twitter and Facebook. Presiding over hundreds of millions — or even billions — of users, the tech titans of California have imbued their affection for big government into their domains. As such, they have assumed responsibilities far beyond the mere maintenance of a free platform. Convinced that they bear an obligation to discern and sieve information that permeates their own corners of the internet, they have elevated their role to effective “Ministers of Truth.” As the online social networks become more and more suffused with overbearing rules and regulations, it’s no wonder libertarian and conservative-leaning users are sent looking for freer, simpler and less overbearing social media outlets like Parler.

May 5, 2017, would forever change Alex Heineman’s life. He was 16 at the time and working at the Hudson, Wisconsin, YMCA during an event for teenagers. Heineman, who is autistic, left the event with then-15-year-old Sierrah Parmeter to take a walk into the nearby woods. The two had an on-again, off-again kind of relationship due to their mutual troubled family lives and apparently kissed in the woods, where Heineman left a hickey on Parmeter’s neck.
Heineman was <a href="http://www.citypages.com/news/alex-heineman-was-cleared-of-rape-why-is-he-still-a-pariah-in-his-hometown/569830161">described</a> by Susan Du in City Pages as “a quiet kid with a gangly athlete’s build, jet black hair that stood straight up, and a slightly sunken gaze” who also “had learning disabilities that relegated him to the high-functioning end of the autism spectrum and a lower rung of Hudson High’s social food chain.”
Less than an hour after Parmeter and Heineman’s encounter in the woods, her father reported to police that she had been sexually assaulted. Parmeter later told police that the pair kissed in the woods but that Heineman left hickeys on her neck and breast against her will and tried to force her to perform oral sex on him. She refused, she said, so he pushed her down and walked away. She also told police that Heineman forced his hand into her pants and penetrated her vagina with his finger.
The hickeys on Parmeter’s neck were swabbed at the hospital when her mother took her there after accusing Heineman. The swabs found Heineman’s DNA. Parmeter refused to allow a nurse to examine her vagina.
Police interviewed Heineman the next day. He denied anything happened other than him giving Parmeter a hickey on her neck. He also told police that the girl was “obsessed with him,” according to the National Registry of Exonerations, which <a href="https://www.law.umich.edu/special/exoneration/Pages/casedetail.aspx?caseid=5861">published</a> Heineman’s story earlier this month.
Heineman plead guilty to third-degree sexual assault at his mother’s insistence in order to avoid facing 20 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit, though he was ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
It wasn’t until June 2019 when Parmeter began admitting she had lied. Parmeter was participating in the Kinship of Polk County mentoring program in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, when she apparently told her mentor that she falsely accused Heineman of sexually assaulting her in 2017. The mentor claimed Parmeter told her she couldn’t tell the truth because the process to prosecute Heineman “moved quickly.” The mentor also said Parmeter’s grandmother had been told about the lie, but when she told Parmeter’s social worker about it, that worker told them not to do anything about it.
Police interviewed Parmeter about these allegations on June 12, 2019. She admitted she lied at the time. A police report noted that Parmeter knew “nothing had happened, but she felt like she had to go through with everything after reporting it….she feels guilty about lying.”
Heineman’s case was dismissed on August 29, 2019, making him the 2,690th person to be exonerated since 1989, according to the NRE.
Heineman may have been exonerated, but this false entrance into the criminal justice system certainly left a mark. The NRE reported:
<blockquote>Heineman, who was autistic, dropped out of school. He subsequently was ordered to undergo treatment at the Eau Claire Academy, a residential treatment center for youths with behavioral, mental, emotional or physical problems. He later turned himself in and spent nine months in the Eau Claire County jail—working during the day and spending nights in a cell. But he again walked off. He was subsequently arrested and later convicted of escape and failing to update his sex offender registry address.</blockquote>
As Du wrote in City Pages, Heineman’s troubles in treatment stemmed at least partially from the fact that he was deemed an unrepentant sex offender, even though he was innocent.
Du also explained that the reason Heineman left the halfway house was because it was, as he called it, “a group home for sex offenders.”
“There were creepy guys that lived with me. Multiple of them were meth addicts. I didn’t do no meth. Like these guys would offer me s**t,” he told Du.
The NRE reported that Parmeter was charged in January 2020 with defamation and obstructing police, but the case is still pending.

In the wake of the election, some Trump opponents have taken the opportunity to threaten his supporters with harsh, draconian punishment no different than a McCarthyite blacklist. The sentiment apparently started when Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) called for an archive of &#8220;Trump sycophants.&#8221;
“Is anyone archiving these Trump sycophants for when they try to downplay or deny their complicity in the future? I foresee a decent probability of many deleted Tweets, writings, photos in the future,” she <a href="https://twitter.com/AOC/status/1324807776510595078?s=20">tweeted.</a>
Other prominent leftists agree that Trump supporters should be shamed and pushed aside.
“If you’re a Trumper I hope the pain and anxiety you feel now is excruciating. You voted against America and for a cult leader who has no redeeming or admirable qualities. He’s a cretin who cares nothing about this country and you don’t either. You deserve all the pain and more,” <a href="https://twitter.com/Toure/status/1324542240266489857?s=20">tweeted</a> former MSNBC host Toure.
“You know, I think that Trump, um, tear-gassed peaceful protesters for a photo op. I think the Trump ripped children from their parents. I think that Trump called NFL players sons of bitches I think that—for exercising their First Amendment rights,” said &#8220;The View&#8221; co-host Sunny Hostin. “I think those people in his administration that not only drafted some of those policies but were complicit in some of those policies shouldn’t be forgotten.”
That said, some prominent liberals and Democrats have denounced such talk as unnecessarily divisive and have even encouraged people to speak with Trump supporters.
“I’m fascinated by playing devil’s advocate and want to understand the people I disagree with. I don’t want to dismiss and malign,” comedian Whitney Cummings told The Daily Beast.
“I think it’s very self-righteous or sanctimonious to just dismiss people we disagree with without trying to understand why they believe what they believe,” she added. “I don’t get it. I grew up in Washington, D.C., mostly, but also in Virginia and West Virginia, so I grew up seeing both sides, and people believing different things. Even though I don’t agree with somebody, I don’t think they’re dumb.”
“‘You complete me’ doesn’t mean because we’re exactly alike. It means because we are different. I don’t want to live in a country without the red states,” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bill-maher-no-president-can-unite-us-we-have-to-unite-ourselves">said comedian</a> Bill Maher. “I like traveling there. When people talk to you in Oklahoma, they’re not scanning the room to see if there’s someone more important. Because, frankly, when I’m there, there never is.”

On Monday, team Biden reportedly floated Obama administration alum Antony Blinken as Biden&#8217;s pick for Secretary of State.
Few Democrats, it seems, responded to the selection with enthusiasm, <a href="https://apnews.com/article/06a33397de673043360ba6b5fd78af8a">according to The Associated Press</a>, which indicated, Monday, that Blinken is likely to take up the Obama-era foreign policy strategy &#8212; a strategy progressives like &#8220;squad&#8221; member Rep Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), apparently believe is too focused on the United States&#8217; only democratic ally in the Middle East.
&#8220;So long as he doesn&#8217;t suppress my First Amendment right to speak out against [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu&#8217;s racist and inhumane policies. The Palestinian people deserve equality and justice,&#8221; Tlaib sneered on Twitter, in response to a positive review of Blinken from Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) former campaign chief, Faiz Shakur.
At first, Tlaib&#8217;s comments don&#8217;t quite make sense. After all, as the AP notes, Blinken, a former &#8220;deputy secretary of state and deputy national security adviser&#8221; is not likely to nearly as friendly to Israel as any Trump administration official, something the notorious &#8220;Boycott, Divest, Sanction&#8221; supporter Tlaib should be pleased about.
But social media users quickly pointed out that Tlaib was commenting on Blinken&#8217;s background, not his credentials, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/rashida-tlaib-biden-antony-blinken">according to Fox News</a>.
&#8220;Biden names a Jew to his cabinet What’s Rashida’s response?! &#8216;Welp, as long as that Judische pick doesn’t stop me from focusing my hatred on one country, Israel, then he’s a good Jew!&#8217; It’s not your 1A right you’re trying to protect but your vile Jew-hatred! That’s ALL yours!&#8221; replied Dov Hikind, former Democratic New York State Assemblyman.
&#8220;You can just say you&#8217;re worried because he&#8217;s Jewish,&#8221; the Republican Jewish Coalition fired back.
Indeed, Tlaib followed up on her statements Monday, demanding that Blinken reverse the Trump administration&#8217;s decision to condemn the BDS movement.
&#8220;Sec. Pompeo has moved to suppress BDS [Boycott, Divest, and Sanction], a peaceful protest movement protected by the 1st Amendment. I hope that Mr. Blinken and President-Elect Biden’s Administration will change course from Trump’s State Department &amp; not target or suppress support of Palestinian human rights.&#8221;
Tlaib is regularly criticized for her comments on Israel and comments directed at her Jewish colleagues. Most recently, Tlaib was accused of spreading anti-Semitic &#8220;blood libel,&#8221; retweeting a story accusing Israeli settlers of torturing and murdering a Palestinian boy, <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/rashida-tlaib-irresponsibly-spreads-anti-semitic-blood-libel">according to the Washington Examiner</a>, and earlier in November, Tlaib was criticized for appearing on a panel discussing anti-Semitism, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/rashida-tlaib-anti-semitism-panel-squad">per Fox News</a>.
As Biden prepares for a possible administration, the battle lines between &#8216;moderate&#8221; Democrats and progressives have become clearer. Despite progressive hopes that Biden would bring far-left activists and policy experts onto his transition team, so far, Biden has pressed further toward the middle, largely indicating that he intends any possible first presidential term to be, essentially, a third term for the Obama White House.
In addition to Blinken, Biden also resurrected the career of former Secretary of State John Kerry, whom Biden&#8217;s team says he will appoint as &#8220;Climate Czar.&#8221;

Sen. David Perdue (R-GA), who&#8217;s competing in a January runoff election, reportedly said he wants to buy a plane ticket for self-described <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/history/2019/01/08/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-says-call-me-radical-loaded-word-with-long-history/">radical</a> Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) to come and campaign for his opponent, Democrat Jon Ossoff.
&#8220;During a campaign stop Monday afternoon, Perdue reportedly said the New York Democrat was going to be down in Georgia, saying he wants her to come down to the state and that he will buy her ticket, according to NBC News Senior Digital Politics Reporter Alex Seitz-Wald,&#8221; The Daily Caller <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2020/11/23/perdue-wants-to-buy-ocasio-cortez-ticket-campaign-opponent-jon-ossoff/">reported</a>.
“She’s going to be down here. I’m going to buy her a ticket!&#8221; Perdue reportedly said of AOC. &#8220;I want her to come down to Georgia. We’ll have that debate.&#8221;
Along with Perdue, Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler is facing a vital runoff election in Georgia, too. Wins from both the Republicans would cement a Senate majority for the GOP.
Ocasio-Cortez is best known for authoring the radical “Green New Deal,” which has an estimated price tag of up to $93 trillion over the course of a decade, according to economist Douglas Holtz-Eakin — a plan certain to dramatically spike taxes.
The plan would “tally between $51 trillion and $93 trillion over 10-years, concludes American Action Forum, which is run by Douglas Holtz-Eakin, who directed the non-partisan CBO from 2003 to 2005,” Bloomberg <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/aocs-latest-green-new-deal-price-tag-10-trillion-josh-hammer">reported</a> last year.
The price tag would amount to a whopping $650,000 per U.S. household.
AOC openly embraced “<a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-explains-what-democratic-socialism-means-2019-3">democratic socialism</a>” during an interview with Business Insider back in 2019.
“So when millennials talk about concepts like democratic socialism, we’re not talking about these kinds of &#8216;Red Scare&#8217; boogeyman,” she said. “We’re talking about countries and systems that already exist that have already been proven to be successful in the modern world.”
“We’re talking about single-payer health care that has already been successful in many different models, from Finland to Canada to the UK,” added the congresswoman.
Underscoring the importance of the runoff elections, Vice President Mike Pence traveled to Georgia on Friday to campaign for both Perdue and Loeffler at “Defend The Majority” rally, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pence-campaigns-at-defend-the-majority-rally-in-georgia">The Daily Wire</a> reported.
“I can tell you firsthand that he’s been one of the greatest and staunchest allies of our MAGA agenda in the United States Senate,” Pence <a href="https://www.c-span.org/video/?478205-1/vice-president-pence-campaigns-senators-david-perdue-kelly-loeffler-canton-georgia">praised</a> Perdue.
“For all we’ve done together, for all we have yet to do, we need the great state of Georgia to defend the majority, and the road to a Senate Republican majority goes straight through the state of Georgia,” the VP told rally attendees.
“The Republican Senate majority could be the last line of defense for all that we’ve done to defend this nation, revive our economy, and preserve the God-given liberties that we hold dear,” Pence added.
“We’re the last line of defense against this country making a change to the Left that we won’t get to undo for maybe two, three, four, five generations,&#8221; Perdue said at the rally. &#8220;We cannot let that happen.&#8221;
