Virginia Democrats are desperate to grab onto anything that could potentially resurrect their gerrymandered 10-1 congressional map before the 2026 midterm elections — and the panic is really starting to show.
In the days since the Virginia Supreme Court struck down the map — over irregularities in the process by which it was adopted — Democrats have explored several avenues by which they might make their fever dream a reality.
An attempt to appeal to the United States Supreme Court, for example, was so rushed that the first page of the filing listed the wrong court.

Although the &#8220;Supreme Court of the United States&#8221; was named at the top of the page, across the bottom of the frame, it read, &#8220;ON EMERGENCY APPLICATION TO THE SUPREME COURT OF VIRGINIA.&#8221;

Others pointed out that the word &#8220;senator&#8221; was misspelled as &#8220;sentator&#8221; and even the name of the state was misspelled as &#8220;Virgnia&#8221; in the rushed filing.
The case was ultimately filed with the U.S. Supreme Court, and Chief Justice John Roberts has instructed Republicans to file a response to the Democrats by Thursday at 5 p.m. ET.
In addition to their appeal to the highest Court, Democrats in Virginia have also considered an even more dramatic move to force their map on the people: a complete dismantling of the state Supreme Court.
As The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/democrats-float-dramatic-shakeup-that-could-force-out-virginias-entire-supreme-court">previously reported</a>, Virginia Democrats have considered lowering the mandatory retirement age for judges on the state&#8217;s highest court just enough to force the entire bench to retire. Then, with a Democratic governor and a Democratic super-majority in the legislature, they could ensure an entirely new bench that would be far more likely to rule in their favor.

President Donald Trump was ready to rumble when he crossed paths with reporters on Tuesday afternoon, calling out several directly over what he considered to be stupid questions.
In one instance, Trump responded to a question about the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) report — which showed an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/inflation-rises-to-highest-level-in-three-years">uptick</a> in inflation largely driven by higher energy costs — and pushed back immediately on the suggestion that his policies might be causing it.

&#8220;You promised to bring inflation down. It&#8217;s now at its highest level in three years. Are your policies not working? What&#8217;s happening?&#8221; the reporter asked (3:45 mark).
&#8220;If you go back to just before the war, for the last three months, inflation was at 1.7%,&#8221; Trump pushed back, arguing that his policies had been working well before the launch of Operation Epic Fury — and that the cost of the war was what was reflected in the latest reports. That cost, he insisted, was worth it.
&#8220;Now, we had a choice. Let these lunatics have a nuclear weapon. If you want to do that, then you&#8217;re a stupid person, and you happen to be, I mean, I know you very well,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Anybody that wants them to have a nuclear weapon is a stupid person.&#8221;
Trump went on to say that he expects to see oil prices drop — and inflation along with it — when the war with Iran is over.
Another reporter <a href="https://x.com/EricLDaugh/status/2054262466582851800">challenged the president</a> about the projected cost of the White House ballroom currently under construction, asking how he accounted for the fact that the cost had increased dramatically.
&#8220;We have a ballroom that&#8217;s under budget, it&#8217;s going up right here,&#8221; Trump said, pointing across the White House lawn. &#8220;I&#8217;ve doubled the size of it because we need that, and we&#8217;re right now on budget, under budget, and ahead of schedule.&#8221;
&#8220;The price has doubled!&#8221; one reporter exclaimed.
&#8220;I doubled the size of it, you dumb person!&#8221; he shot back. &#8220;I doubled the size. You are NOT a smart person.&#8221;
He went on to explain that he had decided to double the size in part because of things that had happened &#8220;in the last year,&#8221; likely a vague reference to at least one of the three assassination attempts against him.
Trump was leaving the White House on Tuesday to head to China for several days of meetings with President Xi Jinping.

President Donald Trump is reportedly planning a pause in the federal 18-cent gas tax to bring pump prices under control.
CBS News reported on Monday that Trump wanted to pause the federal gas tax as the national average price per gallon has risen to $4.52, with states like California, where gas prices average around $6.15 per gallon, driving the average higher. Most have attributed that dramatic spike in prices to the ongoing war with Iran, and Trump has predicted that prices would return to normal levels, if not lower, before the end of the year.
&#8220;I think it&#8217;s a great idea,&#8221; the president said in a <a href="https://x.com/nancycordes/status/2053849805185548395">phone interview</a> with CBS&#8217;s Nancy Cordes. &#8220;Yup, we&#8217;re going to take off the gas tax for a period of time, and when gas goes down, we&#8217;ll let it phase back in.&#8221;
Cordes said that she also asked whether the Trump administration was considering a bailout for the airline industry as fuel costs continue to rise — and the president did not appear to think that was necessary.
&#8220;In our interview, Trump did not embrace the idea of a bailout for US air carriers as they contend with jet fuel costs that have doubled since the start of the war. A bailout proposal &#8216;hasn&#8217;t really been presented,&#8217; he said. &#8216;The airlines are doing not badly,'&#8221; Cordes posted.
Trump also made it clear that the United States was not closer to a deal with Iran to end the war and bring down the gas prices that way, telling Cordes that the Iranian regime&#8217;s latest offer was &#8220;a bad proposal, a stupid proposal, actually &#8230; done by people that have no clue as to the danger they&#8217;re in. Very stupid proposal. Badly written, badly delivered.&#8221;
Suspending the gas tax — which is 18.4 cents per gallon for regular and 24.4 cents per gallon for diesel — cannot be done by executive order, however, and would require Congress to act.
Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) said that he was ready to move on that, however, and <a href="https://x.com/HawleyMO/status/2053851177079484834">posted</a> on X Monday, &#8220;I’m introducing legislation today to suspend the gas tax.&#8221;
When faced with a similar situation in the spring of 2022, former President Joe Biden opted instead to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/while-biden-brags-about-releasing-oil-from-emergency-oil-stockpile-reserve-plunges-to-lowest-level-since-1985">drain resources</a> from the strategic oil reserves — to the tune of about 200 million barrels — dropping the reserves to their lowest levels since the mid-1980s.

Leftist special interest groups ran an ad that was supposed to make former MTV reality TV star-turned-Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt look bad, and they appear to have stepped in it.
The ad, sponsored by L.A. Unions Opposed to Spencer Pratt for Mayor 2026 and the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor AFL-CIO, lays out a number of things that Pratt has either supported or opposed — and accidentally paints him as an entirely reasonable person with an agenda that veers dangerously close to the dictionary definition of &#8220;common sense.&#8221;

Pratt thinks L.A. needs thousands more police officers rather than more social workers.&#8221;
&#8220;And Republican Spencer Pratt thinks public employee unions should have less power, not more,&#8221; the ad continued. &#8220;L.A. is on the right track and needs to stay the course. Vote no on Republican Spencer Pratt.&#8221;
Pratt <a href="https://x.com/spencerpratt/status/2053535640277709257">responded</a> to the ad, saying, &#8220;Wait. Unions are mad that I want firefighters and city workers to get better pay and safer working conditions? What are they actually … for?&#8221;
The majority of those responding commented on the fact that the unions, in attempting to paint Pratt as an extreme Republican, had only helped him to outline his positions in ways that would sound entirely reasonable — even good — to the average person.
RedState&#8217;s Jennifer Van Laar had a <a href="https://x.com/jenvanlaar/status/2053492048922296546">similar reaction</a>, saying of the ad, &#8220;Do these people know nothing of branding and sales? I get that the point of it is to make sure everyone knows that Spencer is Republican (since it&#8217;s a nonpartisan race that isn&#8217;t on the ballot) but damn. Saying his name so many times can really backfire. And they&#8217;re associating him with getting rid of homeless encampments and adding cops. Oh, the horror!&#8221;

Pratt shared video of the family as they returned to the Pacific Palisades for the first time after their home burned to the ground, praising his wife for everything she did to make things better for the boys even when she was very clearly hurt and struggling herself.

Pratt has made no secret about the fact that losing his home in the Palisades Fire — and seeing how poor leadership in Los Angeles was making a devastating situation even worse — was what drove him to join the race to become the city&#8217;s next mayor. He has repeatedly and publicly blamed current Democratic Mayor Karen Bass and others in city leadership for failing to make the proper preparations before the fire and for failing to take steps to correct course once the fire was underway.

Netanyahu also weighed in on the state of the ongoing war in Iran, saying that he believed much of what the United States and Israel set out to accomplish had come to pass, but that it wasn&#8217;t over yet.

Pratt sparred with current Democratic Mayor Karen Bass and Democratic socialist city council-member Nithya Raman over how to deal with the issue of homelessness, and both of them argued in favor of offering treatment and beds at city expense. Pratt <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/reality-tv-star-spencer-pratt-obliterates-leftist-policies-in-heated-l-a-mayoral-debate">pushed back</a>, citing statistics indicating that many of L.A.&#8217;s homeless were abusing drugs.
Speaking specifically to Raman, he volunteered to go with her to offer treatment to homeless people in the city, and warned they were likely to attack her rather than accept her help.

Troops forced out over the COVID-19 vaccine may soon see a dramatic change as War Secretary Pete Hegseth — even for those who do not wish to return to military service.
Hegseth announced the change in a video posted to X on Friday afternoon, saying that he planned to restore missed payments and enlistment bonuses — as well as benefits denied based on unfavorable discharge characterizations.

&#8220;I&#8217;m directing the Under Secretary of War for Personnel and Readiness to establish a Department of War COVID-19 reinstatement and Reconciliation Task Force,&#8221; Hegseth explained, noting that their first move would be to assist anyone who wanted to return to military service to do so. &#8220;The services have them right now. We&#8217;re establishing one at our level to oversee the entire thing. The task force&#8217;s goal is to bring back into service all those who desire to continue to serve our country in uniform.&#8221;
But Then Hegseth went on to say that changes were also coming for those who were discharged for refusing the COVID vaccine mandate under former President Joe Biden and opted not to put the uniform back on. Those who were denied education benefits due to a &#8220;general&#8221; discharge, Hegseth vowed, would have them restored.
&#8220;Even if you do not intend to return to service, the War Department will provide a path for resolution of unearned bonuses, upgrades to discharge characterizations that will unlock your well-deserved benefits, and removal of adverse documents from service files,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Further, I have directed a review of policies and decision-making to ensure that we do not go down this path again. You raised your right hand and sworn ill to serve and protect the Constitution and our nation.&#8221;
&#8220;You were mistreated by the Biden Pentagon, and we are fixing that injustice,&#8221; Hegseth concluded.
Between August of 2021 and the beginning of 2023, approximately 8,700 service members were forced out over Biden&#8217;s vaccine mandate — and more than one third of them (3,000) received &#8220;general&#8221; discharges rather than &#8220;honorable&#8221; discharges. Still more, because they were forced to separate prior to fulfilling their contracts, were denied promised enlistment bonuses and pay.
Typically those who receive a &#8220;general&#8221; discharge from military service are eligible to receive disability benefits and health care benefits through the VA, but can be denied access to education benefits through the post-9/11 G.I. Bill.
By March of 2026, some 600 Air Force members had already had their discharges upgraded. The Marine Corps and the Navy had the highest number of separations due to the vaccine mandate.

President Donald Trump lashed out on Sunday after receiving what he said was a &#8220;totally unacceptable&#8221; offer from Iranian leaders.
Trump took to Truth Social late Sunday afternoon to say that he&#8217;d received a reply to his latest offer from the Iranian regime to end the war and strike a deal — and that he was not at all happy with what they&#8217;d said.
&#8220;I have just read the response from Iran’s so-called &#8216;Representatives.&#8217; I don’t like it — TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!&#8221; Trump <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/116552102914488206">posted</a>.
In a previous post earlier Sunday afternoon, Trump had warned that the Iranian regime against continuing to play games with the United States — and he has repeatedly encouraged leadership in Iran to agree to a deal, often threatening to end the regime if a deal is not reached.on his timetable.
Trump said on Friday that he was waiting for an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-iran-letter-trump-is-waiting-for-could-decide-what-happens-next">important letter</a> from Iran — one that would determine his course of action in the coming days — and at the time, he seemed confident that Tehran was anxious to strike a deal.
&#8220;We’re getting a letter [from Iran] supposedly tonight, so we’ll see how that goes,&#8221; he told reporters, adding that he wasn&#8217;t certain whether or not Iran&#8217;s leadership was intentionally dragging out negotiations — a tactic the Trump administration had said they used in the past. &#8220;I don’t know. We’ll find out soon enough.&#8221;
The Trump administration has been clear about the particulars of any potential deal with Iran, saying that no deal would be agreed to unless Iran agreed to stop any and all efforts to enrich uranium and develop nuclear weapons and to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
The news comes as several skirmishes — provoked by Iranian attacks — had reporters asking Secretary of State <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rubio-we-arent-a-stupid-country">Marco Rubio</a> why there was so little ceasing and so much firing in the current ceasefire.
Rubio pushed back, saying that &#8220;only a stupid country&#8221; would not fire back when fired upon.

President Donald Trump warned on Sunday that the Iranian regime needed to stop &#8220;playing games&#8221; with the United States, blaming former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden for the fact that they&#8217;d done so in the past.
Trump laid out his thoughts in a Sunday afternoon <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/116551553302876569">post</a> on his Truth Social platform, declaring that Iran would soon be &#8220;laughing no longer&#8221; if things did not change.
&#8220;Iran has been playing games with the United States, and the rest of the World, for 47 years (DELAY, DELAY, DELAY!), and then finally hit &#8216;pay dirt&#8217; when Barack Hussein Obama became President,&#8221; Trump began, noting that the regime would always call for negotiations but then would never come to the table in good faith — and he argued that Obama had fallen right into their trap.
&#8220;He was not only good to them, he was great, actually going to their side, jettisoning Israel, and all other Allies, and giving Iran a major and very powerful new lease on life,&#8221; Trump continued, referencing Obama&#8217;s part in sealing the Iran Nuclear Deal and in freeing up billions of dollars that were then delivered to the world&#8217;s leading state sponsor of terrorism.
&#8220;Hundreds of Billions of Dollars, and 1.7 Billion Dollars in green cash, flown into Tehran, was handed to them on a silver platter. Every Bank in D.C., Virginia, and Maryland was emptied out — It was so much money that when it arrived, the Iranian Thugs had no idea what to do with it,&#8221; he said. &#8220;They had never seen money like this, and never will again. It was taken off the plane in suitcases and satchels, and the Iranians couldn’t believe their luck.&#8221;
Trump went on to argue that Biden had been even worse for the United States — and better for Iran — saying, &#8220;They finally found the greatest SUCKER of them all, in the form of a weak and stupid American President. He was a disaster as our &#8216;Leader,&#8217; but not as bad as Sleepy Joe Biden!&#8221;
In summation, Trump declared that his administration would not tolerate an Iranian regime that stalled negotiations to wait out American presidents and continued to kill their own people simply for protesting.
&#8220;For 47 years the Iranians have been &#8216;tapping&#8217; us along, keeping us waiting, killing our people with their roadside bombs, destroying protests, and recently wiping out 42,000 innocent, unarmed protestors, and laughing at our now GREAT AGAIN Country,&#8221; he said. &#8220;They will be laughing no longer!&#8221;

Secretary of State Marco Rubio pushed back on reporters who wondered why there appeared to be less &#8220;cease&#8221; than &#8220;fire&#8221; in the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, saying that &#8220;only stupid countries&#8221; would allow an enemy to attack with impunity.
Rubio fielded questions from the press on Friday, saying that the United States was not engaging in any acts of aggression, but also was not going to let attacks from Iran go unanswered.

&#8220;I guess the point is there&#8217;s not much ceasing in the firing,&#8221; one reporter began, but Rubio stopped him before he could go any further.
&#8220;Well, you should ask that of the Iranians, don&#8217;t ask me,&#8221; Rubio shot back. &#8220;They fired on us. My point is, if you fire on a U.S. Navy ship, what are we supposed to do? Say, &#8216;Oh, there&#8217;s a ceasefire, we&#8217;re not going to shoot down your drone.&#8217; That&#8217;s a stupid question.&#8221;
&#8220;That&#8217;s a stupid position to take,&#8221; he repeated. &#8220;Of course we fired back at them, they were shooting at us. That&#8217;s what I would expect to do. Only stupid countries don’t shoot back when you’re shot at. And we’re not a stupid county.&#8221;
The reporter followed that up by asking whether or not Rubio had communicated with the Iranians, making it clear where any &#8220;red lines&#8221; might be.
Rubio&#8217;s answer was unequivocal: &#8220;No, the red line is clear: if they threaten Americans, they&#8217;re going to get blown up. I mean, that&#8217;s the — that&#8217;s — how much clearer can you be than that? If you fire on — if you are a missile-launching guy, whatever you call that job, and you&#8217;re sitting there and you fire a missile at the United States and we saw you fire it, we&#8217;re going to hit you. Of course we are!&#8221;
&#8220;Who doesn&#8217;t do that?&#8221; he asked. &#8220;Unless you want to get your ship sunk. We&#8217;re not going to let our ships get sunk by the Iranians with their little drones that they&#8217;re firing. You know, they don&#8217;t have a navy anymore, but they bring out these little Boston whaler fishing boats and they try to swarm you, we&#8217;re going to blow the boats up if they&#8217;re coming towards our boats.&#8221;
Rubio doubled down then, warning any Iranian who might receive an order to attack an American asset: &#8220;You&#8217;re probably not going to survive.&#8221;

After initially releasing only a short clip of the interview, the network came under fired as Pratt claimed that incumbent Mayor Karen Bass, a Democrat, was being allowed to place her thumb on the scales. The full interview, he said, painted a very different picture — and he challenged CBS to release it without editing.
Noting that he had filmed with CBS for &#8220;over an hour&#8221; at the site where his home once stood in the Pacific Palisades, Pratt said that he had discussed everything from affordability to crime — &#8220;things that voters care about&#8221; — but that the network had &#8220;turned it over to Karen Bass&#8217;s PR team,&#8221; and what they&#8217;d ultimately aired was a &#8220;comical&#8221; representation that included only a few minutes of the interview spliced with scenes from MTV&#8217;s &#8220;The Hills.&#8221;

&#8220;They can’t beat my ideas, they can’t beat me in the debates, so they gotta try to turn my campaign into a sideshow,&#8221; Pratt said, calling on CBS to release the full interview.
During the interview, Pratt was asked about the fact that he&#8217;d been compared to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani because of the way both had managed to harness social media to effectively reach people.
&#8220;He promised voters the subway will be free,&#8221; Pratt said of Mamdani. &#8220;I&#8217;m promise my voters the Metro buses, the Metro trains, they will be free from urine, feces, stabbing, attacks — so that&#8217;s kind of similar.&#8221;
