<p>Actress Hayden Panettiere&#8217;s estranged mother says something smells off about the story on-again boyfriend Brian Hickerson is telling about her daughter&#8217;s death.</p>
<p>Lesley Vogel told <a href="https://www.dailymail.com/tvshowbiz/article-16070987/hayden-panettiere-brian-hickerson-south-carolina-death.html">The Daily Mail</a> that she spoke with the police officer who responded to the Greenville, South Carolina, apartment — an Airbnb rental the actress was sharing with Hickerson and his brother, Zach — and told him she believed Brian was &#8220;culpable.&#8221;</p>
<p>Her main dispute was with the <a href="https://pagesix.com/2026/08/22/celebrity-news/hayden-panettieres-estranged-mom-claims-brian-hickersons-story-about-daughters-death-is-full-of-holes/">timeline</a> presented by the brothers, who <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hayden-panettieres-boyfriends-brother-reveals-what-he-did-to-try-to-save-her">claimed</a> that Brian had administered Narcan and the brothers jointly performed CPR while still on the line with 911. But Vogel said she did not believe either of the Hickersons just happened to be carrying Narcan at the time, suggesting that one of them must have left Panettiere unresponsive while he left to get some.</p>
<p>&#8220;I think there will be a discrepancy in the timeline, meaning Brian had to go out and buy the Narcan while he left her there because I do not believe he happened to have two bottles of Narcan on him, like he carried them around in his back pocket,&#8221; Vogel claimed.</p>
<p>Vogel also questioned another part of the story — namely that Zach Hickerson had returned from church to find Brian napping alongside the &#8220;Nashville&#8221; star — and asked how it was possible to sleep next to someone and not realize that she was dying. Brian, according to his brother, only woke from his nap when he heard loud knocking at the door because Zach could not unlock the door.</p>
<p>&#8220;I don’t know how you can take a nap near someone who’s dying and not realize something’s wrong,&#8221; she said. &#8220;I think Brian called his brother. My opinion. I think he knew she was deceased. Called his brother, and tried and built this story.&#8221;</p>

<p>Vogel was widely panned for her <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hayden-panettieres-mother-reveals-who-she-blames-after-stars-death">previous comments</a> about her actress daughter&#8217;s shocking death — just five days before what would have been her 37th birthday — when she said, &#8220;I think Hayden was an amazingly talented person in so many departments. And I think young people who grow up in the entertainment industry — it is a struggle, and it’s a very challenging industry, and it’s not unusual for them to sadly find the wrong path.&#8221;</p>
<p>She blamed Hickerson from the beginning, saying, &#8220;This person in her life that we have been trying to get rid of for quite some time was with her at her death, and that was Brian Hickerson.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Although my daughter and I were estranged, it was not for lack of care or love. It was due to the involvement of a toxic individual who I believe led to her death,&#8221; Vogel told Entertainment Tonight in a <a href="https://people.com/hayden-panettiere-mom-lesley-responds-criticism-blames-estrangement-toxic-individual-death-12064652">statement</a>.</p>

<p>Torrey Pines High School is facing a <a href="https://timesofsandiego.com/education/2026/08/21/torrey-pines-high-students-sue-discipline-pro-trump/">lawsuit</a> alleging that teachers and administrators retaliated against two students who expressed pro-Trump views during a February protest — landing one of them in a psychiatric hospital on a mandatory hold.</p>
<p>Two students at Torrey Pines High School — identified in the suit only as A.F. and M.F. — attended a February 6 rally on the San Diego, California, campus meant to protest Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), but showed up instead to voice support for President Donald Trump&#8217;s administration, <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/08/23/us-news/san-diego-high-school-attacked-students-over-pro-trump-lgbt-poster-suit/">according</a> to the New York Post. M.F. carried a printout of the letters &#8220;LGBT&#8221; — each letter paired with an image: the Statue of Liberty for &#8220;L,&#8221; a rifle for &#8220;G,&#8221; a glass of beer for &#8220;B,&#8221; and a photo of Trump for &#8220;T.&#8221;</p>
<p>M.F. reportedly returned to class after the rally still carrying the flyer — prompting his teacher to become upset and immediately leave the classroom. Three days later, according to the suit, Assistant Principal Angela Guerrero called M.F. and another student into her office and informed them they would serve two days of detention because the flyers had &#8220;frightened&#8221; other students on campus.</p>
<p>That same week, M.F. was called into the vice principal&#8217;s office alone to face more serious accusations: that he&#8217;d made &#8220;disturbing searches&#8221; on a school computer, including &#8220;how to load a Glock,&#8221; &#8220;how to load a magazine,&#8221; and &#8220;how to dispose of a body.&#8221;</p>
<p>M.F. denied making the searches and said other students routinely use classmates&#8217; unprotected school computer logins. Guerrero apparently believed him and sent him back to class. The next day, however, five to six police officers arrived at the school and interrogated M.F. themselves.</p>
<p>&#8220;School officials refused to allow M.F.’s parents to see him, instead requiring them to speak with a crisis social worker. The crisis social worker stated that [M.F.’s teacher] requested the police because the searches made Defendant [Theresa] Barnes feel ‘scared’ and ‘unsafe,'&#8221; the suit claims.</p>
<p>M.F. was then taken into custody, and police delivered him to a mental health facility on a 5150 psychiatric hold.</p>
<p>While he was being held overnight, law enforcement executed a search of his home and his bedroom — but they found nothing to support the accusations against him.</p>
<p>&#8220;M.F. did not research how to load a ‘glock,’ did not confess to murder, was not watching homicide videos, and did not target the LGBT community. The claims were completely false, as school officials were fully aware,&#8221; the suit states.</p>
<p>The harassment, according to M.F., did not end there. Although police found nothing and he was allowed to return to school, administrators referred to him as an &#8220;LGBT bully,&#8221; barred him from playing varsity baseball, forced him into counseling sessions, and pushed him toward testing for &#8220;Special Education placement and ongoing mental health monitoring.&#8221;</p>
<p>The same school landed in hot water over a different protest when students were allowed to carry signs comparing ICE to the KKK — but one student was suspended over flyers that read, &#8220;We love I.C.E. — real Americans.&#8221; That suspension was later reversed by the district following pressure from the free speech group FIRE.</p>

<p>President Donald Trump joined the crowds in the nation&#8217;s capital on Sunday for the Freedom 250 race — but he didn&#8217;t tell the drivers to &#8220;be safe.&#8221;</p>
<p>The president told reporters his advice to Sunday&#8217;s drivers boiled down to two words: have fun. Dwelling on safety, he argued, was more likely to make a driver hold back — and less likely to help them win.</p>
<p>&#8220;Have fun,&#8221; he said, adding, &#8220;I don&#8217;t wanna say sort of &#8216;be safe&#8217; because it&#8217;s sort of a negative thought. Right? They don&#8217;t wanna think about that, because if they do, generally speaking, you&#8217;re not gonna win when you start thinking that way.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;But they&#8217;re great,&#8221; he said of the drivers slated to race on Sunday. &#8220;I know many of them through name &#8230; but it&#8217;s a great sport.&#8221;</p>
<p>Trump also said on Sunday that Indianapolis Motor Speedway and INDYCAR owner Roger Penske had been trying to pull off a race in Washington, D.C., for some time — but that until the Trump administration came along, it had looked like an impossibility.</p>

You know, I was hearing about rain all week long, it&#8217;s gonna rain, it&#8217;s gonna rain. I said, &#8216;No, it&#8217;s not.&#8217; And this is as nice a day as I&#8217;ve seen in Washington in a long time.&#8221;</p>
<p>Pre-event estimates from organizers and local outlets had put expected attendance closer to 140,000, though Trump&#8217;s Sunday estimate ran considerably higher.</p>
<p>The festivities also included a number of flyovers featuring U.S. Air Force bombers and fighter jets — some of which were so low and loud that they reportedly set off car alarms in the area.</p>

<p>Actress Hayden Panettiere was wheeled out of her Los Angeles apartment on a gurney at least twice prior to her tragic death, a neighbor says.</p>
<p>Mia Terrazas, who lived in the same West Hollywood apartment complex where the &#8220;Heroes&#8221; star lived with on-again off-again boyfriend Brian Hickerson, said that she&#8217;d seen Panettiere taken from the building by first responders on two occasions — and that the actress had appeared to be &#8220;battered&#8221; both times.</p>
<p>Terrazas told entertainment outlet <a href="https://pagesix.com/2026/08/23/celebrity-news/injured-hayden-panettiere-was-taken-out-of-la-apartment-on-gurney-twice-while-living-with-brian-hickerson-neighbor-claims/">Page Six</a> that firefighters had been called to their location on July 29, 2023, and again on January 16, 2024 — and that when they took Panettiere off the premises, Hickerson had been &#8220;glued&#8221; to her side. The actress, she said, had visible &#8220;bruises&#8221; and &#8220;bright red spots&#8221; when she was wheeled away.</p>
<p>The neighbor said that she worried about the actress — with whom she&#8217;d spoken on a number of occasions — and was afraid of Hickerson.</p>
<p>&#8220;She was just so lovely … and just seeing her and passing frequently and, you know, the little chats that I had with her — she made such an impression, and she was such a bright light,” Terrazas said of Panettiere, who died last Sunday at the age of 36.</p>
<p>“Just as a human being. Never mind the talent; she was a human being, you know? And she deserved so much better. I felt everybody just used her up, and she just deserved better. … I just wish I could have done more. I just can’t believe I’ll never see her again,&#8221; she added.</p>
<p>While she never saw any drugs firsthand, Terrazas said that she had seen evidence of its effects — particularly in Hickerson — over the years.</p>
<p>&#8220;Brian always seemed to be high or disconnected. He just kind of had this odd, flat effect, I guess I could describe it as. Hayden sometimes would seem out of it,&#8221; she explained.</p>
<p>In April 2021, Hickerson pleaded no contest to felony domestic abuse charges of corporal injury to a spouse/cohabitant in which Panettiere was the victim — and at the time, Panettiere was granted a five-year protection order against him.</p>
<p>In 2025, after Hickerson had been seen <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hayden-panettieres-hoa-took-drastic-step-against-boyfriend-before-her-death">trespassing</a> on the West Hollywood property, the Home Owners&#8217; Association responded by putting up posters warning residents not to allow him to enter the premises. After about a week, the posters were taken down.</p>
<p>Panettiere was found <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/actress-hayden-panetierre-dead-at-36">unresponsive</a> at an Airbnb rental in South Carolina on Sunday, August 16 — just five days before what would have been her 37th birthday — and was pronounced dead a short time later. Both Brian Hickerson and his brother Zach were in the apartment at the time, and had attempted to revive her using CPR and Narcan to reverse the effects of a possible opioid overdose.</p>

<p>At least two women remain paralyzed and two others were injured after a pharmacy error led to all four being injected with the wrong drug prior to planned surgeries.</p>
<p>All four patients, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/nashville-hospital-medication-error-leaves-patient-paralyzed-routine-surgery-3-others-hurt">according</a> to Fox News Digital, were being prepared for joint replacement at Nashville&#8217;s Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital Midtown when a pharmacy error led to potassium being injected into their spines instead of the anesthetic they were supposed to receive.</p>
<p>Kristina Dorton says her mother-in-law, <a href="https://www.wowt.com/2026/08/20/family-says-medication-mix-up-hospital-left-72-year-old-paralyzed-least-4-patients-impacted/">Glenda Dorton</a>, 72, was paralyzed and has no feeling from her chest down after the injection — and that she knew something was wrong as soon as she woke up: &#8220;She was having a reaction; she was itchy. She said her whole body was burning, and she couldn&#8217;t feel her legs.&#8221;</p>
<p>According to the family, the knee replacement surgery was a success — but the complications resulting from receiving the wrong medication is going to have lasting impact.</p>
<p>&#8220;The joint replacement went wonderful. Her knee is great. The rest of her is not,&#8221; she told WKRN-TV, &#8220;It was supposed to be the anesthetic. It was supposed to be bupivacaine, and it was potassium, and we don’t know what quantity &#8230; We don’t know what recovery looks like or if there is recovery.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;This is life-changing. You don’t come out of this without some type of life-altering, catastrophic deficit,&#8221; Dorton added, saying that nothing the doctors have tried so far has worked.</p>
<p>Dr. Shubhada Jagasia, president and CEO of the hospital, released an official statement following the tragic mishap.</p>
<p>&#8220;Our hearts are with the four patients and their families impacted by this event. On behalf of our leadership and care teams, I am deeply sorry for the harm caused to our patients,&#8221; she said. &#8220;We have met directly with each of the families to express our deep support, connected them with spiritual care teams and ensured they have access to all appropriate resources and ongoing care needed.&#8221;</p>
<p data-layout-index="5">&#8220;Providing safe, high-quality care is at the core of everything we do, and any gap in meeting that standard receives our immediate, uncompromising attention. The day of the event, we self-reported to state regulators and launched a thorough investigation. We identified the cause and have implemented corrective safeguards,&#8221; she added.</p>
<p data-layout-index="5">Citing patient privacy concerns, the hospital has not provided any details about the conditions of the three other patients affected — including the second woman reported to be paralyzed.</p>

<p>Indiana Fever played New York Liberty on Saturday night — and although Liberty walked away with the on-court win, 109-102, it was a battle between two groups of fans that made headlines.</p>
<p>Pro-trans activists and a number of pro-woman fans — including XX-XY Athletics founder Jennifer Sey — surrounded the Barclays Center ahead of the game, brought there by Fever shooting guard Sophie Cunningham.</p>

<p>The clash comes after weeks of similar confrontations, as Sey mentioned, including <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/sophie-cunningham-rips-wnba-team-co-owner-for-harassing-teens-girls-with-xx-xy-shirts">two teen girls</a> being berated by a WNBA team co-owner in Seattle for wearing XX-XY Athletics clothing and a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/see-it-sophie-cunningham-fans-targeted-again">mother and daughter</a> in Atlanta being told that they needed to cover up their shirts or leave the game. In contrast, pro-trans messaging has been consistently allowed and even favored.</p>
<p>The protests ramped up after Cunningham defended women&#8217;s sports as a space for biological women, saying repeatedly that it was not about politics — and that she believed there was room for everyone in sports, trans-identifying or otherwise — but that women and girls deserved to be protected in sex-specific spaces.</p>

<p>Karmelo Anthony was reportedly &#8220;stalking&#8221; an ex-girlfriend and &#8220;obsessed&#8221; with weapons and fighting — and had sent threatening texts just hours before he stabbed Austin Metcalf to death.</p>
<p>Collin County Assistant District Attorney Bill Wirskye presented several pieces of evidence on Thursday that the jury in Anthony&#8217;s case never saw — including a statement from an ex-girlfriend who told a school assistant principal on April 2, 2025, that Anthony had been &#8220;stalking&#8221; her — The New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/08/20/us-news/karmelo-anthony-prosecutor-reveals-trove-of-disturbing-evidence-jury-never-saw/">reported</a>.</p>
<p>She also said at the time that he was &#8220;obsessed&#8221; with guns and knives. Just hours before he stabbed Metcalf, he sent her a photo of the knife along with the statement, &#8220;I&#8217;m low-key on the verge.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;He was spiraling,&#8221; Wirskye told the court on Thursday.</p>
<p>The texts — as well as the ex-girlfriend&#8217;s &#8220;stalking&#8221; claim — were not introduced as evidence during the trial as part of a deal between the prosecution and the defense to leave prior behavior out and focus solely on what had happened on the day of the stabbing.</p>
<p>&#8220;I offered the agreement. Let’s stay away from historical character and stick to the facts — what happened under the tent,&#8221; Wirskye said.</p>
<p>The deal also meant that Metcalf&#8217;s prior behavior was not admitted into evidence — a move that Wirskye said was calculated to prevent the racial tensions already complicating the situation from getting even worse. Metcalf&#8217;s juvenile record, Wirskye explained, included graffiti that he referred to as &#8220;vile racist stuff&#8221; — but he did not offer any specifics.</p>
<p>During the trial, the prosecution alleged that Anthony had been the aggressor from the start — and witnesses testified to that, saying that at one point he&#8217;d put his hand in his bag and warned, &#8220;Touch me and see what happens.&#8221;</p>
<p>Anthony was ultimately <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/karmelo-anthony-found-guilty-heres-what-comes-next">convicted of murder</a> and sentenced to 35 years in prison — but he has appealed the conviction and his attorneys have argued that the original judge should be removed from his case.</p>
<p>The court determined on Wednesday that Judge John Roach would be removed from the appeal, and retired District Court Judge Michael Chitty will be tasked with reviewing Anthony&#8217;s retrial motion.</p>

<p>Actress Hayden Panettiere&#8217;s on-again, off-again boyfriend raised so many red flags among her neighbors that her homeowners&#8217; association (HOA) put up &#8220;wanted&#8221;-style posters warning residents not to let him enter the property.</p>
<p>About one year before Panettiere&#8217;s sudden death on Sunday, the HOA <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2026/08/19/hayden-panettiere-hoa-posted-warning-of-brian-hickerson/">posted warnings</a> featuring photos of Brian Hickerson, who had been linked to the &#8220;Nashville&#8221; actress for years despite his domestic abuse conviction. The posters instructed residents not to allow Hickerson into the building and to call the police if they saw him on the property.</p>
<p>Mia Terrazas, who lived next door to Panettiere in her West Hollywood, California, condo, told entertainment site TMZ that the posters went up in August 2025 following years of disturbances involving Hickerson and complaints about his presence in &#8220;common areas&#8221; around the complex.</p>
<p>Terrazas said she was afraid of Hickerson and told Inside Edition that she called 911 on a number of occasions over disturbances coming from Panettiere&#8217;s apartment.</p>
<p>&#8220;I was terrified of him, and I have a concealed carry [permit], so that&#8217;s saying a lot,&#8221; she said.</p>

<p>The HOA took the signs down after about one week, Terrazas said, telling her only that Hickerson was &#8220;no longer considered a threat.&#8221;</p>
<p>Hickerson was in the South Carolina Airbnb rental with Panettiere when she was found dead on Sunday afternoon, reportedly sleeping in another room when his brother, Zach Hickerson, discovered the actress unresponsive in a chair.</p>
<p>Police reportedly showed up on Wednesday at a Greenville, South Carolina, home owned by Hickerson&#8217;s grandmother and said that they were there to conduct a &#8220;welfare check,&#8221; though officials said the call was unrelated to the investigation into Panettiere&#8217;s death.</p>

<p>The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) has joined the investigation into the recent death of actress Hayden Panettiere, who died of an apparent overdose on Sunday afternoon.</p>
<p>The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/08/19/arts/television/hayden-panettiere-dea-investigation-drugs.html?eafs_enabled=false">reported</a> on Thursday that the DEA — which often works with local law enforcement to investigate drug-related incidents — would be assisting the Greenville Police Department in the same way that they had assisted the Los Angeles Police in investigating the death of &#8220;Friends&#8221; star Matthew Perry.</p>
<p>The &#8220;Heroes&#8221; star was found unresponsive in a South Carolina Airbnb rental. First responders indicated immediately that she had suffered a cardiac arrest believed to be linked to an overdose. Her on-again boyfriend Brian Hickerson provided investigators with a &#8220;bag of medication&#8221; that she had been taking leading up to her death.</p>
<p>In years past, Panettiere had been open about her struggles with addiction and alcohol abuse — issues she said were exacerbated by postpartum depression after the birth of her daughter Kaya and old injuries that occasionally flared up — and recent reporting suggests that those struggles were far from behind her.</p>

<p>&#8220;She had alcohol and whippets delivered. They wouldn’t allow it up to her room,&#8221; another source claimed.</p>
<p>Panettiere&#8217;s friend and rep Kasey Kitchen denied the claims, saying, &#8220;She was in Nashville for a short amount of time and slept for most of it. She also had private security with her.&#8221;</p>
<p>But entertainment site TMZ also <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2026/08/20/hayden-panettiere-director-reveals-intervention-talks/#continued">reported</a> that her team and &#8220;A Breed Apart&#8221; director Griff Furst had discussed staging an intervention for the actress as recently as 2025.</p>
<p>Furst said that while they were filming, it was clear that Panettiere was &#8220;fighting to stay sober&#8221; — and that he&#8217;d agreed when her team approached him about a possible intervention. He also made it clear that he was not impressed by the &#8220;dark energy&#8221; surrounding Panettiere&#8217;s on-again boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, who had visited the set with her. He said that she &#8220;deserved better company&#8221; — and added that despite his willingness to help, he did not believe an intervention ever took place.</p>

<p>Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy made it clear to his daughter Paloma, 18, that he could &#8220;say no&#8221; if she was leaning toward attending Harvard University.</p>
<p>Duffy spoke to his soon-to-be college-bound daughter about her options during an episode of his YouTube series &#8220;The Great American Road Trip&#8221; that included a trip to Boston and stops at both Harvard and Boston University.</p>
<p>The clip began with Paloma suggesting that her parents would have a hard time refusing to let her go if Harvard was her choice, but Duffy was far from convinced.</p>
<p>&#8220;You can&#8217;t say no,&#8221; she said.</p>
<p>&#8220;To Harvard?&#8221; Duffy asked. &#8220;Me and Mom can say no.&#8221;</p>
<p>The video cut to show Duffy with his wife, Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy, talking about their strong Catholic faith and how they believed it was a foundation for everything they did.</p>
<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s the basis of our marriage,&#8221; Campos-Duffy said. &#8220;It&#8217;s the basis of our family, so I&#8217;m nervous about the idea of Paloma going to Harvard. We spent a lot of time nurturing and providing formation for our kids, giving them an environment where they are steeped in faith, in values. and so the idea of dropping her off at a place that would undermine that or try to undo all those things makes me worried.&#8221;</p>
<p>Duffy added that what he wanted was to see his kids exposed to multiple viewpoints — and he was concerned that might not be what ultimately transpired at some liberal universities: &#8220;I don&#8217;t want them fed only one viewpoint that&#8217;s contrary to the way my kids were raised.&#8221;</p>
<p>He went on to tell Paloma that he believed she was a smart and beautiful young girl, but he worried that Harvard had &#8220;professionalized figuring out how they can take good, young girls like you and, I think, corrupt their minds.&#8221;</p>
<p>Duffy&#8217;s comments prompted immediate backlash from the Left, as the claimed that he was &#8220;afraid&#8221; that Paloma might get a glimpse of the outside world and decide that her parents were wrong about everything.</p>
<p>&#8220;Insanely stupid,&#8221; author Don Winslow posted. &#8220;I feel bad for @SecDuffy&#8217;s children.&#8221;</p>

<p>Very few of those complaining acknowledged the fact that, as Paloma&#8217;s parents, the Duffys would be the ones on the hook to pay for their daughter&#8217;s education — and thus had legitimate standing to challenge the merits of what they would be financing.</p>

<p>FBI agents surprised disgraced former Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) when he arrived at the San Francisco airport on Saturday, slapping him with a search warrant.</p>
<p>Sources familiar with the law enforcement action confirmed to The Daily Wire that Swalwell&#8217;s phone and other electronic devices were seized by agents at the airport.</p>
<p>Federal law enforcement officials also <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/08/20/us-news/fbi-confronts-eric-swalwell-at-airport-seizes-electronics-in-sexual-misconduct-probe-report/">served and executed</a> search warrants on Swalwell&#8217;s residence in Washington, D.C., where additional electronic devices were seized. Several sources confirmed that the seizure was related to an ongoing criminal probe into the 45-year-old former California lawmaker stemming from a number of accusations of sexual misconduct and even rape.</p>
<p>The FBI seizure report comes just days after newly <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/new-fbi-files-blow-open-swalwells-long-running-fang-fang-mystery">declassified</a> documents shed light on Swalwell&#8217;s repeated dalliances with Chinese spy Christine Fang (&#8220;Fang Fang&#8221;). He has not responded to the new document dump.</p>
<p>Swalwell, according to the <a href="https://www.dailymail.com/news/article-16066819/Eric-Swalwell-FBI-San-Francisco-seize-electronics-sexual-misconduct.html">reports</a> first published by The Daily Mail, cooperated with federal agents when they greeted him at the airport on Saturday, and neither he nor his wife or children were present at the D.C. residence when agents entered the premises.</p>
<p>The former gubernatorial candidate faced a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/new-accusers-the-fbi-yacht-girls-things-go-from-bad-to-worse-for-swalwell">slew of accusations</a> from several women who accused him of inappropriate sexual behavior — and one former staffer who claimed that he raped her twice when she was too inebriated to have given her consent — and ultimately dropped out of the race in California before the primary election. He resigned from Congress days later.</p>
<p>Swalwell has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/swalwell-wont-drop-out-despite-his-metoo-era-kavanaugh-demand">maintained his innocence</a> throughout, consistently claiming that the accusations against him were politically motivated. Before the women went public, he was leading the field in the gubernatorial primary – but because California uses a &#8220;jungle primary&#8221; system that advances only the top two candidates overall, Swalwell claimed he was targeted in order to keep him from splintering the Democratic vote. His exit, he maintained, was strategically designed to prevent a general election matchup that locked out the Democratic Party entirely.</p>
<p>The Department of Justice opened an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/swalwell-under-federal-investigation-for-alleged-sexual-assault">official investigation</a> into Swalwell in April, and he&#8217;s stayed relatively quiet in the weeks since.</p>
