Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt says he has a plan that could &#8220;eliminate&#8221; Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) from contention in the 2028 presidential election — he just has to get elected first.
Pratt, running to unseat Democratic incumbent Mayor Karen Bass, said during a recent podcast interview that he planned to investigate Newsom — bringing in the IRS if necessary — and find any fraudulent uses of Angelenos&#8217; tax dollars.

Pratt laid out his plan on the &#8220;No Jumper&#8221; podcast, noting that Newsom was termed out at the end of the year and saying that, as mayor, he would absolutely investigate the outgoing administration for fraud.
&#8220;As mayor, I&#8217;ll be exposing his fraud with our tax money,&#8221; Pratt promised. &#8220;So I&#8217;ll probably actually eliminate him from being the president because I&#8217;m going to bring in the criminal investigation team of the IRS to go back in time and get all the documents, so that all the people have jacked all of our tax money, we&#8217;re going to find their Bentleys, we&#8217;re going to find their houses, we&#8217;re going to put them up to sale and we&#8217;re going to figure out how to put that money back into neighborhoods, the parks and the kids, the boys and girls club after school.&#8221;
&#8220;Because these people are stealing our money and it&#8217;s not going to the kids in the communities,&#8221; Pratt concluded.
The podcast host argued that Newsom, using the current state of California as his platform, should have a hard time winning a national election — but Pratt wasn&#8217;t so sure.
&#8220;I wish that was true, but my experience being deep in this battle: people just believe lies,&#8221; he said.

Hunter Biden, the embattled son of former President Joe Biden, finally weighed in on the cocaine that was discovered in the White House while his father was president.
Biden posted a video on Monday announcing that he had officially been sober for seven years, prompting a slew of responses on X. Some congratulated him for reaching the milestone, while others questioned whether he was telling the truth.
&#8220;Bullsh*t. That was your bag of coke in the White House,&#8221; one said.
&#8220;It most definitely was not. I would never have forgotten my drugs,&#8221; Biden replied.
But it didn&#8217;t end there.

Biden shared a second video on Tuesday about gratitude, saying that true gratitude could only be reached when people were able to be grateful for the bad along with the good — and then went on to explain that he was grateful for his past struggles with addiction because they&#8217;d laid him bare (literally) and made him better able to &#8220;connect&#8221; with people.
&#8220;I&#8217;m grateful that I was a crack addict,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And I don&#8217;t say that with the slightest bit of irony or bullsh*t. It has given me to me right here.&#8221;
He went on to say that he was able to reach this kind of gratitude because his addiction had resulted in everything being &#8220;taken away&#8221; from him.
&#8220;All that addiction took away from me, and then all that the consequences took away from me, any sense of me being better than anyone &#8230; I get to approach you and you get to see all of me,&#8221; he added, poking fun at himself and the nude photos that went public with the discovery of his abandoned laptop.
&#8220;You get to see the nude pictures, you get to see me in grief, you get to see me at my worst,&#8221; he said.
One person responded to the video on X with the comment, &#8220;Crack head. I’m sure it was your coke in the White House. Embarrassment you are. You belong behind bars. Loser.&#8221;
Biden fired back, saying, &#8220;I was most definitely a crack head. It most definitely was not mine. You can’t embarrass me anymore. And you have a nice day, my friend.&#8221;

An adviser to Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner threatened the female former staffer who went public with Platner&#8217;s sexually explicit text messaging habits.
Morris Katz, a strategist for Platner who also advises New York City&#8217;s democratic socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani, sent a message through a third party to former state Rep. Genevieve McDonald, warning her not to cooperate with The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal on stories that dug into Platner&#8217;s explicit texts to multiple women.
&#8220;Just want to be clear on where we are right now,” Katz wrote in the message McDonald first shared with <a href="https://www.bangordailynews.com/2026/05/31/politics/top-graham-platner-adviser-threatened-former-aide-over-sexting-stories/">The Bangor Daily News</a>, warning her that she would face a smear campaign if she assisted with the story. “If the story goes in its current iteration we’ll communicate directly on the record, and by name, that Genevieve violated the personal trust of Amy and Graham and shared explicit falsehoods to sabotage the campaign.&#8221;

McDonald was working on another campaign for Jordan Wood, also a Democrat, who is running in Maine&#8217;s 2nd Congressional District — but she quit over the weekend in an effort to shield Wood from any negative publicity she might get in the aftermath of the Platner stories going to print. The message from Katz was delivered to McDonald through another of Wood&#8217;s advisers.
Katz also appeared to lash out at McDonald via an X post, though he did not name her specifically, when the stories were published, saying, &#8220;It’s no one’s f*cking business what happened in Graham &amp; Amy’s marriage before he was ever a candidate for office. There should be no place in our politics for incompetent, opportunistic operatives who violate privacy, betray trust, and prioritize vengeance over decency.&#8221;
Platner has been dogged by a number of scandals throughout his campaign, from the discovery of a Nazi-inspired tattoo that he&#8217;s since had covered up to his Reddit posts <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/didnt-deserve-to-live-leftist-candidate-appears-to-mock-wounded-soldier-in-resurfaced-post">trashing a wounded veteran</a> and Purple Heart recipient. Nineties icon Vanilla Ice made it clear that he would never join the artists backing out of performances at the &#8220;Great American State Fair&#8221; — part of the America 250 celebrations — saying that he refused to let anyone tell him he couldn&#8217;t be proud of his country.
The musician, born Robert Matthew Van Winkle, spoke with CNN anchor Brianna Keilar about his plans to participate in the upcoming events — and artists like Bret Michaels and country superstar Martina McBride, who have already pulled out of planned performances citing &#8220;politicization&#8221; of the overall celebrations.
Keilar asked the rapper why he was planning to go ahead with his appearance even though other artists had backed out of their own performances, and he held nothing back.

The rapper went on to suggest that kids would be better off if they were able to go back to the &#8217;80s and &#8217;90s and get off the computer screens for a bit.

Cavariccis, and you just go out and you rip your back seat and put subwoofers in, and you enjoy going to Blockbuster,&#8221; he said. &#8220;All we&#8217;re doing is celebrating the birthday of our country, what&#8217;s the big deal here? Former MTV reality star Spencer Pratt informed comedian Bill Maher that, if elected mayor of Los Angeles, he would enforce laws against smoking marijuana around children and in public spaces.
Pratt joined Maher for the latest episode of his &#8220;Club Random&#8221; podcast, where the two discussed Pratt&#8217;s dramatic surge leading into Tuesday&#8217;s jungle primary — and Pratt said he was absolutely ready to enforce laws already on the books regarding cannabis smoking and drug use when children are present.

Pratt explained that he&#8217;d never really talked about politics when he was on MTV, saying that at the time he&#8217;d been trying to be famous, and did not see an advantage in angering one half of the audience or the other.
Maher asked then whether he cared about &#8220;all the issues&#8221; now that he was running to be mayor of Los Angeles, and Pratt said no.
&#8220;I care about safety, the lights being on, potholes. I don’t want you smoking in front of kids at the park. You know, I’ll be enforcing if you’re smoking that in front of a kid at a swing. I’ll be getting you as mayor,&#8221; he jabbed at Maher, who is well known for his love of marijuana.
&#8220;No more drugs around kids at parks, in schools, in front of daycares,&#8221; Pratt said. &#8220;We need to have a society of consequences again &#8230; I never thought growing up I could smoke a blunt in front of a kid at the park. Now that happens. Moms do not want their kids that are like 5 years old &#8230;&#8221;
Maher continued to press Pratt on specific issues — namely the regulatory red tape surrounding solar panels, despite the fact that California has been pushing more people toward green energy sources — and Pratt insisted that crime and drug use needed to be handled first: &#8220;We’re about three years from worrying about solar panels. We need to get all the naked drug addicts off of the sidewalks, and then I can worry about solar panels.&#8221;

Former first lady Jill Biden said during a recent interview that she supported then-President Joe Biden&#8217;s plan to pardon his embattled son Hunter, claiming that the Department of Justice — run by his administration — was &#8220;not fair&#8221; to the younger Biden.
Biden, doing press for her upcoming memoir titled &#8220;View from the East Wing,&#8221; joined host Rita Braver for an interview that aired on the CBS News program &#8220;Sunday Morning&#8221; — and she <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/06/01/us-news/jill-biden-admits-i-wanted-joe-to-pardon-hunter-claims-process-was-not-fair-to-ex-first-son/">suggested</a> that the pardon was ultimately prompted by the Democratic Party&#8217;s 2024 loss and the fear that President Donald Trump would push for additional prosecution against Hunter.
&#8220;The Justice Department changed, and the process was not fair to Hunter,&#8221; she claimed.
Hunter, 56, initially landed a sweetheart deal that only gave him probation on three separate gun charges and tax evasion to the tune of $1.4 million — but left it on the table when his attorneys demanded immunity for him for any potential violations of the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hunter-biden-plea-deal-almost-derails-after-questions-about-scope-of-deal-immunity">Foreign Agents Registration Act</a>, ostensibly because any charges in that particular ballpark could also implicate other family members like his father.
He was charged and tried in both cases by special counsel David Weiss, acting on behalf of Biden&#8217;s Justice Department. He was convicted in Delaware on the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/special-counsel-david-weiss-makes-statement-after-hunter-biden-convicted-on-felony-gun-charges">gun charges</a> in June 2024 and took a plea on the tax charges in September. At the time, then-President Joe Biden and everyone in his inner circle declared that he would not pardon his son.

But when former Vice President Kamala Harris failed to win her abbreviated White House bid, the Biden family calculus changed.
&#8220;When Trump was elected, things changed and we knew that he would target Hunter. And we just could not let our son go to jail on a charge that no one would go — I mean, no one has ever gone to jail for,&#8221; Jill insisted, adding, &#8220;I truly supported it. I wanted him to pardon Hunter at that point, and I agreed with Joe.&#8221;
President Biden issued a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/liar-liar-biden-pardons-hunter-after-all">sweeping pardon</a> for his son on December 1, 2024, and also pardoned several other family members at the same time.
Jill explained that he did so, &#8220;I suppose for the same reason, that he felt that they would be targeted.&#8221;

Braver opened the door for Jill Biden to put the onus on the White House health care team: &#8220;Do you think that someone, when he was in The White House, should have discovered it, given him a test?&#8221;
&#8220;Well, you know, the doctors said that according to the American Urological Association, that men over 70 don&#8217;t need a PSA, a blood test anymore because it&#8217;s a slow-growing cancer. I have to say, Rita, I do feel we had amazing care in The White House, but somehow that was missed,&#8221; she replied.
&#8220;So you&#8217;re a little bit tense when it comes to his health, huh?&#8221; Braver pressed.
&#8220;I don’t know if the word is &#8216;tense,&#8217; but I think I’m vigilant,&#8221; Jill Biden replied.

Trump challenged her in a Truth Social post, arguing that if she had truly been concerned for her husband&#8217;s health during the debate, she should have rushed out onto the stage to help him.
&#8220;She said that she thought he was having a ‘stroke,’ and various other really bad things, and yet never rushed onto the stage to help her troubled husband, as any good wife would do,&#8221; he said.

Former MTV reality television star Spencer Pratt is the first to admit that he has no political experience — but he says he does have a plan to help the homeless in Los Angeles if he&#8217;s elected mayor, and it&#8217;s modeled on a veteran training center in Arkansas.
Pratt, speaking with CNN&#8217;s Elex Michaelson, said that he wanted to build a rehabilitation center for homeless addicts — a move that he argues would swiftly and dramatically cut down the number of homeless in L.A. — similar to a training center for military veterans operating in Bentonville, Arkansas.
&#8220;You don’t get off these drugs with beds,&#8221; Pratt said, digging at incumbent Democratic Mayor Karen Bass, whose plan was to throw more money, clean needles, and shelters at the problem. &#8220;You need support. You need a real solution. And what’s happening? We’ve done it now, what, for 10 years. Their plan does not work. Their experience is complete failure. This is not Spencer saying this. This is every single person with eyeballs driving around L.A.&#8221;
Instead, Pratt argues that the treatment should be mandatory and that those in treatment should be pushed not just toward recovery but toward the skills and discipline that will help them succeed.
&#8220;If they want to come back to the city, we have a job for them — not just a bed off Skid Row,” Pratt explained. “They’re sober off fentanyl for two days, they go into a bed, they come out right back on to where all the drugs [are]. We need to actually help these people and get that back into society.&#8221;
The model is the <a href="https://uhp.com">University of Health and Performance (UHP)</a>, a 19-day immersive training program designed to help veterans transition from military to civilian life. Tuition, meals, health and fitness instruction, and lodging are all free — and veterans leave with the confidence and skills to build a new civilian life.
Pratt told Michaelson he was eyeing property in &#8220;beautiful nature&#8221; and had already approached several people about helping fund the project. In addition, he said he wanted to bring in &#8220;top doctors&#8221; to make sure he was doing things the right way, because he wanted the center to become &#8220;a shining light of hope.&#8221;
&#8220;You need to offer people a chance,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It&#8217;s going to be somewhere where people will go, and they will say, &#8216;Thank God for Spencer.'&#8221;
Pratt <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/reality-tv-star-spencer-pratt-obliterates-leftist-policies-in-heated-l-a-mayoral-debate">squared off</a> with his opponents during a recent televised debate, arguing that Bass had done little to solve the problem and that Democratic socialist Councilwoman Nithya Raman&#8217;s offer of help was likely to be met by violence from addicts just looking for another fix.

President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he might not make it to his eldest son&#8217;s destination wedding — planned for the Memorial Day holiday weekend — because it&#8217;s &#8220;not good timing&#8221; for him.
Donald Trump Jr. plans to wed Bettina Anderson in a small ceremony on a private island in the Bahamas, Page Six <a href="https://pagesix.com/2026/05/18/society/donald-trump-jr-bettina-anderson-to-wed-over-memorial-day/?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_campaign=nypost">reported</a> on Tuesday, and the president said he was going to &#8220;try&#8221; to attend, but was not sure whether he&#8217;d be able to make it happen.
&#8220;He’d like me to go, but it’s going to be just a small little private affair, and I’m going to try and make it,&#8221; Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday.
His explanation was simple: the timing, given everything going on in Iran and around the world, was not great as far as he was concerned.
&#8220;This is not good timing for me. Everything called Iran and other things,&#8221; he said, adding that there was no answer he could give that would not get him into trouble with someone.
&#8220;That’s one I can’t win on. If I do attend, I get killed. If I don’t attend, I get killed,&#8221; he said, implying that there would likely be negative coverage from the press if he missed his son&#8217;s wedding — and no shortage of negative coverage if he left Washington to attend.
Don Jr., 48, and Anderson, 39, have been engaged since December — and had initially considered a White House wedding, but ultimately decided that the optics would not be the greatest.
&#8220;They’re very aware that a lavish wedding at the White House while people are dying wouldn’t be well-received,&#8221; an insider told Page Six.
They opted instead for a smaller, more private ceremony — but the end result might be that they have to carry on in the president&#8217;s absence.
&#8220;Hopefully they’re going to have a great marriage,&#8221; Trump added.
News of the imminent ceremony comes just as Vanessa Trump, Don Jr.&#8217;s ex-wife, has announced a breast cancer diagnosis.

Los Angeles Republican mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt revealed that his political role model is &#8220;Jesus Christ&#8221; — and that the modern politician with whom he most identified was former President Barack Obama.
Pratt, during an interview with CNN&#8217;s Elex Michaelson, discussed everything from why he decided to run for mayor in the first place and what led him to become a Republican to his plan to manage the homelessness crisis — and he got candid about political comparisons and role models.

Without a second&#8217;s hesitation, Pratt replied, &#8220;Jesus Christ.&#8221;
&#8220;Okay, I mean —&#8221; Michaelson tried to reframe the question.
&#8220;He was a politician, you know, he had to go in and —&#8221; Pratt defended his response.
Michaelson tried a different tack: &#8220;Are there any modern politicians that you&#8217;re especially studying or drawn to that —&#8221;
&#8220;No, no, no,&#8221; Pratt was insistent. &#8220;I am not a politician. I don&#8217;t want to be a politician. I want to be a fighter for the people.&#8221;
&#8220;But you&#8217;ve mentioned, though, that —&#8221; Michaelson pressed again, and Pratt interrupted.
&#8220;Obama, yeah,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I&#8217;m most similar to Obama. And I know &#8216;The View&#8217; ladies said that I don&#8217;t have a law degree, so I&#8217;m gonna work on that online in the next — before November — I probably can get one, and do the Baby Bar.&#8221;
Pratt argued that he was most similar to Obama because he viewed the former president as first and foremost a community advocate — and that was also how he thought of himself.
The former MTV reality star — in the mayoral race because of the fallout from the deadly Palisades fire that took his home — also explained during that same interview how he had come to be a Republican in a town teeming with young liberals.
It was all about his own personal safety, he said, explaining that when he&#8217;d been on MTV&#8217;s &#8220;The Hills,&#8221; his personal security team had advised him to get a firearm for his own protection. He and his wife, Heidi Montag, had done so and had learned in the process that Republicans were the ones supporting their right to do that.

FBI Deputy Director Christopher Raia shared video of a suspect fleeing on foot during a Thursday news conference and asked the public for help in identifying the man.
Raia explained that the Justice Department was looking for the man shown in the video in connection with the ongoing fraud investigation in Minnesota, and said that he had evaded law enforcement by jumping from a fourth-floor balcony before escaping on foot.

&#8220;Once again, a good look at him, you&#8217;ll see him — you&#8217;ll see him running here, he is currently on the run,&#8221; Raia continued.
The suspect on the screen appears to be hopping as he tries to run, possibly injured during his escape. He falls in the street before getting up and hopping again.
&#8220;We need your help,&#8221; Raia said. &#8220;If you recognize this individual, if you know this individual, if you can provide any information related to this individual, I would encourage you to call 1-800-CALL-FBI — or go to the internet at www.tips.fbi.gov or call your local law enforcement.&#8221;
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche <a href="https://x.com/DAGToddBlanche/status/2057522949629084038">announced</a> on Thursday that the Justice Department was indicting 15 defendants as part of the ongoing fraud investigation, saying they were tied to some $90 million in losses, including &#8220;the largest Medicaid fraud cases in the history of the district.&#8221;
&#8220;These criminals allegedly stole from our country&#8217;s most vulnerable: children with autism, the disabled, and the homeless. In one case, services were allegedly billed but never provided, leading to the death of the supposed recipient. This will not be tolerated,&#8221; Blanche added.

A police officer&#8217;s body-worn camera captured the dramatic moment when he caught a baby who was thrown from the second floor of a burning home.
The officer was responding to a <a href="https://www.woodtv.com/news/kalamazoo-county/kdps-officer-catches-baby-during-escape-from-house-fire/">house fire</a> in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and was able to locate a woman and her baby trapped on the second floor at the rear of the home. Upon learning that the woman was unable to get downstairs with the baby, he instructed her to kick out the window screen and throw the baby down to him.

&#8220;Ma&#8217;am,&#8221; the officer shouted as sirens screamed in the background. &#8220;Throw me your kid! Kick out the screen! Kick out the screen!&#8221;
The video showed the woman attempting to kick the screen free from the window frame. A dispatcher could be heard on the radio, relaying information about the fire: &#8220;We do have entrapment.&#8221;
&#8220;Oh my God. I got contact on the B side,&#8221; the officer said into his two-way. &#8220;She&#8217;s trying to get the kid out the window, second story.&#8221;
Turning back to the window, he called to the woman again and urged her to drop the child. &#8220;Come here, okay, hang on &#8230; okay &#8230; I got it!&#8221;
The baby then appeared in the frame, safe in the arms of the waiting police officer.
&#8220;Ma&#8217;am! Ma&#8217;am! Come out,&#8221; he said, and then into the radio, &#8220;Can I get someone on the B side? I got the baby.&#8221;
Other officers brought a ladder around the house so that the woman could climb down to safety. She was reportedly taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation but sustained no injuries. The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety stated that the cause of the fire was still under investigation, and noted that part of the roof had to be removed in order for them to fully extinguish the fire in the attic.
