Former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom has been banned from future Chicago Sky home games after a confrontation with guard Natasha Cloud led to his ejection from Sunday&#8217;s game.
Sky owner Michael Alter told local reporters on Tuesday that Freedom would not be allowed to attend the team&#8217;s games at Chicago&#8217;s Wintrust Arena unless he was first &#8220;able to prove to our satisfaction that he is able to abide by our rules without being a potential threat.&#8221;
&#8220;He has demonstrated to us, unequivocally, that he has the potential to be a threat,&#8221; Alter said.
&#8220;The fact that we&#8217;re having this conversation to me is just really sad,&#8221; Alter continued. &#8220;It&#8217;s a shame that we&#8217;re spending as much time as we are on this and not the wonderful things that are happening in our league — or even some of the not-so-wonderful things, like the Sky not making the playoffs for the third year in a row. I&#8217;m sure those are the things we should be talking about.&#8221;
Alter accused Freedom of attending the game to provoke a reaction and attract attention.
&#8220;It was pretty clear to us that his purpose of coming here was trying to be provocative, to see how much attention he could get and stir up,&#8221; Alter said.
Alter <a href="https://chicago.suntimes.com/chicago-sky/2026/08/25/sky-ban-enes-kanter-freedom-from-games-according-to-principal-owner-michael-alter">added</a> that he interviewed people seated near Freedom who told him that Freedom initiated the exchange by directing basketball-related trash talk at Cloud.
Freedom, who attended the game wearing a shirt reading &#8220;WOMAN. Noun. Adult human female,&#8221; claimed that he&#8217;d attended the game to support Indiana Fever shooting guard Sophie Cunningham, who&#8217;s been the target of protests since she declared her stance on defending biological females and girls in athletics. Sunday&#8217;s confrontation came after he raised both arms in celebration of a Cunningham three-pointer.
He said that during the next possession, Cloud approached the baseline where he was seated and shouted at him, saying that Cunningham was never going to sleep with him. Freedom, who said that Cunningham is just a friend, stood up and stepped toward the court — but a number of players and officials stepped between him and Cloud, and he was escorted from the arena before things could escalate further.
After a brief conversation with security, Freedom left the venue.

Legendary country star Dolly Parton died on Tuesday, but she made a prediction more than four decades earlier about which one of her famous &#8220;Dolly-isms&#8221; might show up on her tombstone.
In 1982, while filming &#8220;The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas,&#8221; Parton coined a phrase that she would repeat on numerous occasions — so often, in fact, that she told <a href="https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2008/05/michael-hogan-d?srsltid=AfmBOorbIpVOaVLPIik29oUfXvLs2UDQaGIuGpzDWRvgO4xNcGwIi5GL">Vanity Fair</a> 26 years later that she expected to see it on her headstone one day.
The phrase in question? &#8220;It costs a lot of money to look this cheap.&#8221;
Parton made no secret over the years that she&#8217;d modeled her signature look after the town tramp — declaring during a number of interviews that she&#8217;d grown up in awe of this confident woman with &#8220;peroxide-blonde hair&#8221; who wore tight clothes and red lipstick. Her mother had told her at the time that the woman was &#8220;trash,&#8221; a &#8220;tramp&#8221; — but Parton said she&#8217;d known immediately that was what she wanted to be when she grew up.
&#8220;I kind of patterned myself after what they called the town tramp in my hometown, when I was little,&#8221; Parton explained to CBS anchor Julie Chen on &#8220;The Early Show&#8221; in 2006. &#8220;She left a big impression on me, and I would talk about how beautiful she was and different ones would say, ‘Oh, she’s just trash.’ And I thought, ‘That’s what I want to be when I grow up. I’m gonna be trash!’ And that is how I look.&#8221;
Parton also said her flashy outward look was an attempt to match her flashy personality.
But as flashy as she was, Parton never took herself too seriously — and routinely delivered self-deprecating quips about her flamboyant style and multiple cosmetic procedures.
&#8220;It’s hard to be a diamond in a rhinestone world,&#8221; she said more than once — and she told The Guardian in 2011, &#8220;If something is bagging, sagging or dragging, I’ll tuck it, suck it or pluck it &#8230; It’s like what I always say: I may look fake but I’m real where it counts.&#8221;

TikTok has banned a video — citing a &#8220;violation of Community Guidelines&#8221; — that challenges the narrative suggesting that Massachusetts mother Lindsay Clancy was suffering from postpartum psychosis when she killed her three young children.
Very few people appear to have mixed feelings about the murder trial of Massachusetts mother Lindsay Clancy: most either believe that she&#8217;s guilty and knew exactly what she was doing, or that she was out of her mind due to postpartum psychosis and did not fully comprehend her own actions. But it&#8217;s the ones who have declared their support for Clancy — even taking to social media to claim that her husband was the guilty one — who were the target of the video in question.
Former Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt laid out the case in a video posted across multiple platforms on Sunday, arguing that the wave of people defending Clancy were suffering from &#8220;mass psychosis&#8221; — and he traced its origins to well before the Clancy trial, tracing the origins instead to the COVID-19 pandemic and the rules that must be obeyed but never questioned.

&#8220;Our institutions completely eviscerated their own reputation and dignity,&#8221; Pratt said, adding, &#8220;If you went paddleboarding, alone in the middle of the ocean, you needed to be arrested for killing Grandma. But of course, if you riot with 500,000 people, that&#8217;s totally fine, because viruses take a timeout when it comes to social justice.&#8221;
The constant bombardment of narratives that objectively did not make sense, Pratt said, did more than breed mistrust: they rewired the way people processed information — and even reality. Every tragedy started to look like a conspiracy — and people who fed on conspiracy quickly capitalized on that for profit.
He pointed to the &#8220;fans&#8221; who&#8217;d emerged when Luigi Mangione gunned down United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson in cold blood — and then pivoted to address Clancy. In her case, he said, it was a mass hijacking of maternal instinct and unconditional love &#8220;reallocated towards whatever group the algorithm has designated as the vulnerable class.&#8221;
Instead of feeling empathy for the three small children who were strangled to death by their own mother — or for the father who came home with takeout for dinner and discovered his babies unresponsive and near death — the empathy was being directed solely toward the woman whose actions had been the source of that pain.
Popular movies and television shows had primed the population for the redirection of empathy, taking objectively awful characters — like a chemistry teacher who became a drug kingpin and destroyed his own family — and making them sympathetic.
Disney’s “Maleficent” held up a character who embodied evil for the sake of evil in the original “Sleeping Beauty” and portrayed her as the betrayed lover who only took the wrong path because she was in pain. “Wicked” turned the good-vs-evil narrative on its head. “Dexter” made a wide audience identify with a sociopathic serial killer. And those are just a few examples among thousands, all designed to qualify — and thus minimize — objective evil, making it more difficult to identify.
While that trend is certainly problematic, it’s also protected as free speech and free expression. The real problem arises when challenges to the narrative are censored — or, in the case of COVID, targeted as “misinformation.”
TikTok moved to do just that when the platform banned Pratt’s video — which also should have been protected as free speech and expression.
“Child-murderer supporters on TikTok are mass-reporting my video on the Clancy insanity. It&#8217;s wild to see the allergic reaction people have to truth. It&#8217;s like when a demon gets sprayed with holy water,” Pratt responded on Tuesday.

Her post came shortly after a mid-game confrontation in which she shouted at Freedom, who was seated by the baseline wearing a T-shirt defining a woman as an &#8220;adult human female.&#8221;
Cloud had just scored a basket with just over a minute left in the third quarter of Chicago&#8217;s game against the Indiana Fever when the Fever called a timeout. Cloud used the stoppage to approach Freedom and shout at him from the court. Freedom stood up and raised both arms while stepping toward the court before players and officials got between them.
Freedom was ultimately <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/enes-kanter-freedom-booted-from-wnba-game-after-confrontation">escorted from his courtside seat</a> and spoke briefly with police before leaving Chicago&#8217;s Wintrust Arena. He later told OutKick that he believed his shirt had provoked Cloud&#8217;s outburst.
&#8220;I was cheering for my friend Sophie [Cunningham] because when she shot that three, I put my hands in the air,&#8221; Freedom told the outlet. &#8220;A couple possessions later, [Cloud] came back and said, ‘She’s not gonna sleep with you.’ And I was shocked. I was like, ‘Listen, I’m not trying to sleep with her. I think she’s awesome. She’s a good friend.’ But I think it has a lot to do with my shirt. I was obviously wearing a shirt explaining what a woman is, and I think that had a lot to do with what she thinks about women. I think it triggered her a lot.&#8221;
Fever shooting guard Sophie Cunningham has been the target of protests since she stood up for protecting women and girls in sports, and a number of other WNBA players and coaches have taken the opposite position.
The issue has also sparked confrontations involving fans. A Seattle Storm co-owner was accused of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/wnba-co-owner-accused-of-cursing-out-teen-girls-over-xx-xy-shirts">scolding teenage girls</a> who wore XX-XY Athletics gear to a game, while a mother and daughter attending an Atlanta Dream game recently said they were told to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/see-it-sophie-cunningham-fans-targeted-again">cover up</a> their XX-XY shirts or leave the arena.
Freedom entered the debate after reviewing the WNBA&#8217;s eligibility rules, claiming that he met the qualifications to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/another-former-nba-player-says-hes-entering-wnba-draft-threatens-discrimination-suit">declare</a> for the 2027 WNBA draft. Fellow former NBA player Royce White followed with a nearly identical announcement, adding that he &#8220;sometimes&#8221; identified as a transgender woman and planned to sue for discrimination if he went undrafted.

A drone that killed three Ukrainian civilians, including a 19-year-old student, was flying with an experimental navigation system that uses artificial intelligence to hone in on targets.
The Russian drone in question was reportedly attempting to target a gas station in an attack in Zaporizhzhia when it struck a wall. It exploded on contact, killing 19-year-old student Tetiana Bubynets and two others.
The drone&#8217;s navigation system was programmed by human operators who key in on a generalized target — a particular building, a military base, or a gas station — and the AI is supposed to fine-tune the target once it&#8217;s in range of the drone, according to a <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/08/24/world/europe/russia-drones-autonomous-ai-kill-ukraine-war.html?unlocked_article_code=1.71A.xQCF.v4_4GUKwBhBg&amp;smid=url-share">report</a> published Sunday by The New York Times. A drone sent by human programming to a specific military base, for example, might then use AI to hone in on propane tanks that it was programmed to &#8220;recognize&#8221; as a target.
Forensic investigators first determined the drone was using AI after they evaluated debris from the deadly Zaporizhzhia strike and several other drone attacks. What they found were onboard minicomputers, made by tech giant Nvidia, which had the capability to use AI to make targeting decisions in real time. That, coupled with the fact that they lacked the antennas necessary for receiving external commands, led them to believe that the final targeting decisions were made using AI.
As the report noted, both Russia and Ukraine have been using AI in drones for some time — but only in a &#8220;last mile&#8221; capacity in which a remote human operator has selected the final target. Rumors had been circulating that Russia was using fully autonomous AI, and according to Kateryna Bondar — senior fellow at the Wadhwani AI Center at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington — the presence of the Nvidia module in recent drone attacks is clear evidence of that. The deadly strike in Zaporizhzhia marks the first time that a drone using fully autonomous AI targeting resulted in civilian deaths.
The benefits of such a system are obvious: an AI targeting system can be trained to recognize specific things like railroad tracks, tanks, or people — and can track them with greater precision than a human. But the risks are also obvious: AI is far less likely to be able to distinguish between civilians and soldiers — meaning that the use of fully autonomous AI could put a nation on the wrong side of the laws of war — and the inability for a remote human operator to communicate with the drone means that there is no way to override the AI system&#8217;s decisions in real time.
Col. Serhiy Minaiev, the commander of air defenses in Zaporizhzhia, sounded the alarm, arguing that taking such decisions out of the hands of human operators heralded the kind of dystopian scenarios usually only seen in movies: &#8220;This is a risk for the whole world. In a few years, we will be living in a ‘Terminator’ movie. It’s no joke. Machines are making decisions to strike.”

Indiana Fever played New York Liberty on Saturday night — and although Liberty walked away with the on-court win, 109-102, it was a battle between two groups of fans that made headlines.
Pro-trans activists and a number of pro-woman fans — including XX-XY Athletics founder Jennifer Sey — surrounded the Barclays Center ahead of the game, brought there by Fever shooting guard Sophie Cunningham.
Sey, there to support Cunningham and defend biological women in sports, told OutKick that the WNBA was consistently taking the wrong side on the issue of trans-identifying men in women&#8217;s spaces.

During the game, things were no different. After a message paid for by a fan of XX-XY Athletics was reportedly changed by the venue, three pro-trans messages appeared on the Jumbotron throughout the game.

The clash comes after weeks of similar confrontations, as Sey mentioned, including <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/sophie-cunningham-rips-wnba-team-co-owner-for-harassing-teens-girls-with-xx-xy-shirts">two teen girls</a> being berated by a WNBA team co-owner in Seattle for wearing XX-XY Athletics clothing and a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/see-it-sophie-cunningham-fans-targeted-again">mother and daughter</a> in Atlanta being told that they needed to cover up their shirts or leave the game. In contrast, pro-trans messaging has been consistently allowed and even favored.
The protests ramped up after Cunningham defended women&#8217;s sports as a space for biological women, saying repeatedly that it was not about politics — and that she believed there was room for everyone in sports, trans-identifying or otherwise — but that women and girls deserved to be protected in sex-specific spaces.

Former NBA center Enes Kanter Freedom got booted from Sunday night&#8217;s WNBA game (Indiana Fever at Chicago Sky) at Chicago&#8217;s Wintrust Arena after a brief confrontation with a player on the court.
Freedom, wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with the definition of the word &#8220;woman,&#8221; was ejected just before the end of the third quarter after a brief confrontation with Chicago Sky guard Natasha Cloud. With 1:22 left in the quarter, Cloud scored – and the Fever called for a timeout.
Cloud approached the baseline where Freedom was seated, pointing and shouting at him — and he raised both arms and stepped toward the court. Several other players and officials jumped between them, preventing the confrontation from escalating.
Freedom spoke briefly with police before leaving the arena.
He had attended the game, as well as a pregame rally, to show his support for Indiana Fever shooting guard Sophie Cunningham — who has become a popular target for pro-trans activists since she declared her support for biological women in sports and sex-specific spaces for women and girls.
Protests and rallies have followed the Fever to several recent games, and on several occasions, women and girls who have shown their support — either for biological women in sports or for Cunningham — have been harassed or told that if they didn&#8217;t cover up their XX-XY Athletics shirts, they would be forced to leave.
The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/another-former-nba-player-says-hes-entering-wnba-draft-threatens-discrimination-suit">WNBA&#8217;s</a> unwillingness to draw a hard line between male and female prompted Freedom and fellow former NBA player Royce White to declare for the 2027 WNBA draft.
As The Daily Wire previously reported, Freedom had <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/former-nba-player-declares-for-wnba-draft" target="_blank" rel="noopener">declared himself a 2027 prospect</a>, saying that he had reviewed the league’s self-identification framework and met its requirements.
White said the same, adding that he was &#8220;a sometimes identifying transgender woman&#8221; and said that if he was not drafted, he would &#8220;have to file a discrimination lawsuit, right?&#8221;

Vogel also questioned another part of the story — namely that Zach Hickerson had returned from church to find Brian napping alongside the &#8220;Nashville&#8221; star — and asked how it was possible to sleep next to someone and not realize that she was dying. Brian, according to his brother, only woke from his nap when he heard loud knocking at the door because Zach could not unlock the door.
&#8220;I don’t know how you can take a nap near someone who’s dying and not realize something’s wrong,&#8221; she said. &#8220;I think Brian called his brother. My opinion. I think he knew she was deceased. Called his brother, and tried and built this story.&#8221;

Torrey Pines High School is facing a <a href="https://timesofsandiego.com/education/2026/08/21/torrey-pines-high-students-sue-discipline-pro-trump/">lawsuit</a> alleging that teachers and administrators retaliated against two students who expressed pro-Trump views during a February protest — landing one of them in a psychiatric hospital on a mandatory hold.
Two students at Torrey Pines High School — identified in the suit only as A.F. and M.F. — attended a February 6 rally on the San Diego, California, campus meant to protest Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), but showed up instead to voice support for President Donald Trump&#8217;s administration, <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/08/23/us-news/san-diego-high-school-attacked-students-over-pro-trump-lgbt-poster-suit/">according</a> to the New York Post. M.F. carried a printout of the letters &#8220;LGBT&#8221; — each letter paired with an image: the Statue of Liberty for &#8220;L,&#8221; a rifle for &#8220;G,&#8221; a glass of beer for &#8220;B,&#8221; and a photo of Trump for &#8220;T.&#8221;
M.F. reportedly returned to class after the rally still carrying the flyer — prompting his teacher to become upset and immediately leave the classroom. Three days later, according to the suit, Assistant Principal Angela Guerrero called M.F. and another student into her office and informed them they would serve two days of detention because the flyers had &#8220;frightened&#8221; other students on campus.
That same week, M.F. was called into the vice principal&#8217;s office alone to face more serious accusations: that he&#8217;d made &#8220;disturbing searches&#8221; on a school computer, including &#8220;how to load a Glock,&#8221; &#8220;how to load a magazine,&#8221; and &#8220;how to dispose of a body.&#8221;
M.F. denied making the searches and said other students routinely use classmates&#8217; unprotected school computer logins. Guerrero apparently believed him and sent him back to class. The next day, however, five to six police officers arrived at the school and interrogated M.F. themselves.
&#8220;School officials refused to allow M.F.’s parents to see him, instead requiring them to speak with a crisis social worker. The crisis social worker stated that [M.F.’s teacher] requested the police because the searches made Defendant [Theresa] Barnes feel ‘scared’ and ‘unsafe,'&#8221; the suit claims.
M.F. was then taken into custody, and police delivered him to a mental health facility on a 5150 psychiatric hold.
While he was being held overnight, law enforcement executed a search of his home and his bedroom — but they found nothing to support the accusations against him.
&#8220;M.F. did not research how to load a ‘glock,’ did not confess to murder, was not watching homicide videos, and did not target the LGBT community. The claims were completely false, as school officials were fully aware,&#8221; the suit states.
The harassment, according to M.F., did not end there. Although police found nothing and he was allowed to return to school, administrators referred to him as an &#8220;LGBT bully,&#8221; barred him from playing varsity baseball, forced him into counseling sessions, and pushed him toward testing for &#8220;Special Education placement and ongoing mental health monitoring.&#8221;
The same school landed in hot water over a different protest when students were allowed to carry signs comparing ICE to the KKK — but one student was suspended over flyers that read, &#8220;We love I.C.E. — real Americans.&#8221; That suspension was later reversed by the district following pressure from the free speech group FIRE.

President Donald Trump joined the crowds in the nation&#8217;s capital on Sunday for the Freedom 250 race — but he didn&#8217;t tell the drivers to &#8220;be safe.&#8221;
The president told reporters his advice to Sunday&#8217;s drivers boiled down to two words: have fun. Dwelling on safety, he argued, was more likely to make a driver hold back — and less likely to help them win.
&#8220;Have fun,&#8221; he said, adding, &#8220;I don&#8217;t wanna say sort of &#8216;be safe&#8217; because it&#8217;s sort of a negative thought. Right? They don&#8217;t wanna think about that, because if they do, generally speaking, you&#8217;re not gonna win when you start thinking that way.&#8221;
&#8220;But they&#8217;re great,&#8221; he said of the drivers slated to race on Sunday. &#8220;I know many of them through name &#8230; but it&#8217;s a great sport.&#8221;
Trump also said on Sunday that Indianapolis Motor Speedway and INDYCAR owner Roger Penske had been trying to pull off a race in Washington, D.C., for some time — but that until the Trump administration came along, it had looked like an impossibility.

Pre-event estimates from organizers and local outlets had put expected attendance closer to 140,000, though Trump&#8217;s Sunday estimate ran considerably higher.
The festivities also included a number of flyovers featuring U.S. Air Force bombers and fighter jets — some of which were so low and loud that they reportedly set off car alarms in the area.

Actress Hayden Panettiere was wheeled out of her Los Angeles apartment on a gurney at least twice prior to her tragic death, a neighbor says.
Mia Terrazas, who lived in the same West Hollywood apartment complex where the &#8220;Heroes&#8221; star lived with on-again off-again boyfriend Brian Hickerson, said that she&#8217;d seen Panettiere taken from the building by first responders on two occasions — and that the actress had appeared to be &#8220;battered&#8221; both times.
Terrazas told entertainment outlet <a href="https://pagesix.com/2026/08/23/celebrity-news/injured-hayden-panettiere-was-taken-out-of-la-apartment-on-gurney-twice-while-living-with-brian-hickerson-neighbor-claims/">Page Six</a> that firefighters had been called to their location on July 29, 2023, and again on January 16, 2024 — and that when they took Panettiere off the premises, Hickerson had been &#8220;glued&#8221; to her side. The actress, she said, had visible &#8220;bruises&#8221; and &#8220;bright red spots&#8221; when she was wheeled away.
The neighbor said that she worried about the actress — with whom she&#8217;d spoken on a number of occasions — and was afraid of Hickerson.
&#8220;She was just so lovely … and just seeing her and passing frequently and, you know, the little chats that I had with her — she made such an impression, and she was such a bright light,” Terrazas said of Panettiere, who died last Sunday at the age of 36.
“Just as a human being. Never mind the talent; she was a human being, you know? And she deserved so much better. I felt everybody just used her up, and she just deserved better. … I just wish I could have done more. I just can’t believe I’ll never see her again,&#8221; she added.
While she never saw any drugs firsthand, Terrazas said that she had seen evidence of its effects — particularly in Hickerson — over the years.
&#8220;Brian always seemed to be high or disconnected. He just kind of had this odd, flat effect, I guess I could describe it as. Hayden sometimes would seem out of it,&#8221; she explained.
In April 2021, Hickerson pleaded no contest to felony domestic abuse charges of corporal injury to a spouse/cohabitant in which Panettiere was the victim — and at the time, Panettiere was granted a five-year protection order against him.
In 2025, after Hickerson had been seen <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hayden-panettieres-hoa-took-drastic-step-against-boyfriend-before-her-death">trespassing</a> on the West Hollywood property, the Home Owners&#8217; Association responded by putting up posters warning residents not to allow him to enter the premises. After about a week, the posters were taken down.
Panettiere was found <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/actress-hayden-panetierre-dead-at-36">unresponsive</a> at an Airbnb rental in South Carolina on Sunday, August 16 — just five days before what would have been her 37th birthday — and was pronounced dead a short time later. Both Brian Hickerson and his brother Zach were in the apartment at the time, and had attempted to revive her using CPR and Narcan to reverse the effects of a possible opioid overdose.
