Whoopi Goldberg immediately backpedaled after claiming Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were &#8220;violent criminals,&#8221; saying that she was using &#8220;nuance&#8221; when she made that particular statement.
Goldberg joined her cohosts on Monday&#8217;s broadcast of ABC&#8217;s &#8220;The View,&#8221; where they discussed the fatal confrontation between anti-ICE activist Renee Good and the ICE agent who shot and killed her when she accelerated toward him, striking him with her vehicle. Goldberg&#8217;s overall assessment of the situation was that ICE agents were more violent than the people they were apprehending in major cities like Minneapolis.

Goldberg began by complaining that the Department of Homeland Security had promised to pick up the worst of the worst and the most “violent criminals” — and reports detailing who ICE agents have arrested since the surge in Minneapolis began indicate they have followed through on that promise.
But Goldberg disagreed with DHS and said that, as far as she was concerned, it appeared that the “violent criminals” were inside ICE.
“This is the thing, you said you were going after the bad guys. That&#8217;s what you said, the violent criminals. And what does it turn out? The violent criminals seem to be in the agency,” she said.
The show cut to a commercial break then, and by the time they returned to air, she was already trying to un-ring the bell.
“Welcome back. Before we go on, I — before folks gather around and say, &#8216;oh, she&#8217;s accusing all of the folks at ICE of being criminals,’ that is not what I&#8217;m doing. And just so I&#8217;m clear, it feels sometimes that there is no one watching the henhouse. Okay? So before y&#8217;all start blowing it into all kinds of other stuff, just know that it&#8217;s nuance speaking,” she said.

A shooting involving an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent and an anti-ICE activist Renee Good left the former injured and the latter dead. Despite evidence to the contrary provided in multiple videos — from several different angles — media outlets were quick to assist Democrats in their claims that the ICE agents were nothing more than aggressors, carrying out the whims of President Donald Trump.
For those who don&#8217;t spend their Sunday mornings glued to the television — and their Sunday afternoons attempting to dig through a week&#8217;s worth of network and cable news media spin — The Daily Wire has compiled a short summary of what you may have missed.
Even after videos emerged showing Good intentionally blocking federal agents with her car and taunting them — and then accelerating and striking the agent before he began firing his weapon — Democrats and the legacy media persisted in pushing several distinct narratives. While their coverage varied, the common thread was a simple one: the ICE agents had done something wrong.
ABC News anchor Martha Raddatz brought in Senator Tina Smith (D-MN) to discuss the situation, and Smith complained that the Department of Homeland Security had referred to Good&#8217;s behavior as &#8220;domestic terrorism&#8221; before details had been released. Of course, by the time Smith joined the broadcast, it had become apparent that Good was part of an anti-ICE activist group and had been trained to obstruct federal agents as they worked to enforce immigration law.

Smith claimed the ICE agents suddenly snapped after a friendly exchange with protesters, arguing that better training would have prevented the incident.
&#8220;No professional law enforcement would exchange words or banter with somebody who is engaged in their legal right to protest and then lose control, which looks to me like what happened here,&#8221; she said.

Raddatz also spoke with former acting ICE Director John Sandweg about the shooting, asking how the landscape had changed in recent years. Marching straight through the door Raddatz had opened for him, Sandweg said that ICE had adopted new &#8220;tactics&#8221; — and that those tactics were the real reason agents were facing dramatic increases in assaults against them as well as confrontations that ended in violence.
&#8220;This is a new environment for ICE and it’s not one that’s part of their core mission,&#8221; he said, suggesting with no pushback from Raddatz that the ICE agents stepping outside of their &#8220;core mission&#8221; was the root cause of the problem.

On CBS News, &#8220;Face the Nation&#8221; anchor Margaret Brennan spoke with Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) about the shooting — and she too made the claim that the ICE agent in question had not been properly trained.
&#8220;Renee Nicole Good, as you hear her say, she&#8217;s not mad, she&#8217;s sitting in her car, peacefully waving cars to get by,&#8221; Omar said, leaving out the fact that Good had positioned her vehicle so that it created a choke point that would only let one car, moving slowly, to get around her. She then immediately identified the ICE officer as the aggressor, describing his actions as wholly unnecessary and suggesting that Good was attempting to flee the scene because he&#8217;d scared her.
&#8220;And then you see the other officer, who can clearly see the car is moving, move toward the front of the car, which if they are saying that he has ten years on service and is trained, he should know that you shouldn&#8217;t be trying to get in front of a moving car,&#8221; Omar claimed, despite multiple video angles that show the officer standing in front of the vehicle prior to Good&#8217;s acceleration.

Although Brennan offered no challenge to Omar&#8217;s narrative — despite the video evidence that contradicted it — she did push back slightly when she asked whether it was reasonable to have citizens effectively stalking federal agents while they were attempting to do their jobs.
Omar insisted that it was &#8220;very important&#8221; for Americans to record ICE agents while they work &#8220;to create the level of accountability and transparency,&#8221; adding, &#8220;I think it is fair for citizens to document what law enforcement is doing in their communities.&#8221;

Frey took things a bit further, also attempting to spin Renee Good&#8217;s clearly intentional blockage of traffic as her simply not being very good at turning around. &#8220;(Renee Good) was doing a three or a four or five-point turn&#8230; if doing a three point turn or a four point turn is a domestic terrorist and my wife is a criminal every single day,&#8221; he said.

Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) announced on Monday that he&#8217;d filed a lawsuit jointly naming War Secretary Pete Hegseth, Navy Secretary John Phelan, the Department of the Navy, and the War Department as defendants.
In the lawsuit, filed Monday in the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., Kelly claimed that Hegseth had overstepped his constitutional boundaries by ordering a Uniform Code of Military Justice review following his participation in the &#8220;Seditious Six&#8221; video.
&#8220;Pete Hegseth is coming after what I earned through my twenty-five years of military service, in violation of my rights as an American, as a retired veteran, and as a United States Senator whose job is to hold him—and this or any administration—accountable,&#8221; Kelly claimed. &#8220;His unconstitutional crusade against me sends a chilling message to every retired member of the military: if you speak out and say something that the President or Secretary of Defense doesn’t like, you will be censured, threatened with demotion, or even prosecuted.&#8221;

Kelly spent the rest of the lengthy post reminding his audience that &#8220;military rank is earned, not given&#8221; and listing his personal accomplishments — particularly those that showcased his willingness to risk his life for those he served.
&#8220;I gave everything I had to this country and I earned my rank of Captain, United States Navy,&#8221; Kelly said, adding, &#8220;Now, Pete Hegseth wants our longest-serving military veterans to live with the constant threat that they could be deprived of their rank and pay years or even decades after they leave the military just because he or another Secretary of Defense doesn’t like what they’ve said. That’s not the way things work in the United States of America, and I won’t stand for it.&#8221;
Kelly went on to recall his oath to defend the Constitution and claimed that his lawsuit was simply the next phase of that mission: &#8220;Our freedom of speech, the separation of powers, and due process are not just words on a page.&#8221;
&#8220;So today, I filed a lawsuit against the Secretary of Defense because there are few things as important as standing up for the rights of the very Americans who fought to defend our freedoms,&#8221; he said.
Hegseth moved to officially censure Kelly in early January, launching a review of Kelly based on his role in creating a video that encouraged active duty service members to question the legality of their orders in real time.

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell announced on Friday that he was under investigation, and claimed that President Donald Trump&#8217;s administration was using the threat of an indictment as a punishment for his refusal to lower interest rates at the president&#8217;s direction.
Powell posted a video in conjunction with a <a href="https://www.federalreserve.gov/newsevents/speech/powell20260111a.htm">press release</a> on Saturday, explaining the Trump administration&#8217;s rationale for launching the probe and then pivoted to say that he believed the real reasons for the investigation were political.

&#8220;On Friday, the Department of Justice served the Federal Reserve with grand jury subpoenas, threatening a criminal indictment related to my testimony before the Senate Banking Committee last June. That testimony concerned in part a multi-year project to renovate historic Federal Reserve office buildings,&#8221; Powell said.
&#8220;I have deep respect for the rule of law and for accountability in our democracy. No one—certainly not the chair of the Federal Reserve—is above the law,&#8221; he added, before turning to suggest that the Trump administration was retaliating against him for refusing to adjust interest rates to the president&#8217;s satisfaction. &#8220;But this unprecedented action should be seen in the broader context of the administration&#8217;s threats and ongoing pressure.&#8221;
&#8220;This new threat is not about my testimony last June or about the renovation of the Federal Reserve buildings. It is not about Congress&#8217;s oversight role; the Fed through testimony and other public disclosures made every effort to keep Congress informed about the renovation project,&#8221; Powell claimed, arguing that the president was simply using those reasons as cover. &#8220;Those are pretexts. The threat of criminal charges is a consequence of the Federal Reserve setting interest rates based on our best assessment of what will serve the public, rather than following the preferences of the President.&#8221;
&#8220;This is about whether the Fed will be able to continue to set interest rates based on evidence and economic conditions—or whether instead monetary policy will be directed by political pressure or intimidation,&#8221; he added. &#8220;I have served at the Federal Reserve under four administrations, Republicans and Democrats alike. In every case, I have carried out my duties without political fear or favor, focused solely on our mandate of price stability and maximum employment. Public service sometimes requires standing firm in the face of threats. I will continue to do the job the Senate confirmed me to do, with integrity and a commitment to serving the American people.&#8221;
Trump has repeatedly threatened to either fire Powell or sue him — as recently as late December — and has accused him of &#8220;gross incompetence.&#8221;

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director Todd Lyons fired back on Saturday at the  Philadelphia Sheriff who&#8217;d threatened to arrest ICE agents, telling her to go ahead and &#8220;try it, see what happens.&#8221;
Lyons addressed Sheriff Rochelle Bilal&#8217;s comments directly during an appearance on &#8220;The Big Weekend Show&#8221; on Fox News, saying that Bilal was only feeding into the already dangerous situation ICE agents were facing every day by pitting local law enforcement against federal law enforcement.

&#8220;Any time you pit law enforcement officers against law enforcement officers, it makes nobody safe,&#8221; Lyons said. &#8220;This is the exact type of political rhetoric that I&#8217;ve been seeing ever since I had the opportunity to be the ICE Director &#8230; this increased rhetoric is what&#8217;s causing the issues right now. Lyons went on to say that he wasn&#8217;t normally one to engage in public bluster, but his message to the sheriff was simple: &#8220;Try it, try to arrest my folks. Let&#8217;s see what happens.&#8221;
Bilal tore into ICE a day earlier, claiming that federal agents were the ones committing crimes when they moved to enforce federal immigration law.
&#8220;Those that come into our communities wearing masks to commit crime—and thank God for our District Attorney Larry Krasner, who says he&#8217;s gonna lock them up &#8230; you&#8217;re getting arrested &#8230; we stand here today with all those who stand against the made-up fake, what you can call ICE,&#8221; she said. &#8220;Professional law enforcement? I&#8217;m not calling none of that. I call them made-up, fake wanna-be law enforcement. Because what they do is against not only legal law but moral law &#8230; you will not be able to hide. Nobody will whisk you off. You don&#8217;t want this smoke, because we&#8217;ll bring it to you. And the fake, whatever they call them because I can put &#8230; I can&#8217;t say their name. But the criminal in the White House will not keep you from going to jail.&#8221;
The Philadelphia Police Department also issued a statement in response to Bilal&#8217;s comments, saying that she was not in charge of municipal policing and that the city&#8217;s police officers would continue to work in conjunction with other &#8220;law enforcement partners&#8221; moving forward.

President Donald Trump delivered a clear warning to Cuba on Sunday, urging the communist island nation to make a deal with the United States and saying that there would be nor more &#8220;oil or money&#8221; going to Cuba from Venezuela.
The president took to his Truth Social platform to lay out <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115876460615555838">his thoughts</a> on the matter, saying also that because the United States had arrested Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro, there was no longer a need for Cuban security services to defend his regime.
&#8220;Cuba lived, for many years, on large amounts of OIL and MONEY from Venezuela,&#8221; Trump explained. &#8220;In return, Cuba provided &#8216;Security Services&#8217; for the last two Venezuelan dictators, BUT NOT ANYMORE!&#8221;
Trump went on to note that the United States had quickly dispatched the Cubans providing security to the Maduro regime when American military operators had extracted the former dictator a week prior.
&#8220;Most of those Cubans are DEAD from last week&#8217;s U.S.A. attack, and Venezuela doesn’t need protection anymore from the thugs and extortionists who held them hostage for so many years,&#8221; Trump explained. &#8220;Venezuela now has the United States of America, the most powerful military in the World (by far!), to protect them, and protect them we will.&#8221;

Secretary of State Marco Rubio responded after dozens of memes flooded X with potential new jobs or responsibilities that President Donald Trump might ask him to take on.

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer on Wednesday tore into his state&#8217;s governor, Tim Walz, saying that the Democrat &#8220;should resign&#8221; and would likely &#8220;leave office in cuffs&#8221; if he chose not to do so.
Emmer made his comments on the latest episode of the Republican Study Committee&#8217;s &#8220;Right to the Point&#8221; podcast, where he was joined by his fellow Minnesota Republican Reps. Brad Finstad and Michelle Fischbach about the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/live-updates-ice-agent-fatally-shoots-agitator-as-chaos-erupts-in-minneapolis">still-unfolding situation</a> in their home state. The trio called out the leadership in their state, saying that whether they were complicit in the rampant fraud or had simply failed to deal with it, the full price of their actions had fallen on the people of Minnesota.
Among the issues on the table were the dozens already tried and convicted for fraud schemes connected to Feeding Our Future, many of them part of the Somali immigrant community; the additional fraud being investigated in the daycare and healthcare systems, also connected to the Somalis; and Immigration and Customs Enforcement&#8217;s (ICE) efforts to crack down on illegal immigration in the state.
Emmer began by noting his sadness that so many different and massive fraud schemes — which a number of people have known about for years — were able to flourish in his state, and he credited President Donald Trump for finally forcing it into the headlines.
&#8220;The three of us and those that are testifying today have been calling out this fraud for years, and nobody would report it,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Joe Thompson, the first Assistant U.S. Attorney for Minnesota, estimates the total fraud could amount to $9 billion.&#8221;
Emmer referenced Nick Shirley, the independent journalist who brought the fraud into the spotlight, saying that even though Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison (D-MN) had been in office for seven years, Shirley had been able to root out more fraud in a day than they had since they were elected.
Finstad noted that Emmer and Fischbach had co-signed a letter he sent to Walz in 2022, calling on him to address the situation.
&#8220;&#8216;This fraud has been going on in Minnesota for years. It&#8217;s time to get, you know, put a stop to it,'&#8221; Finstad said, paraphrasing the letter.
&#8220;This is criminal on all levels, you know, to no response. That was three or four years ago. And you know, this goes back to 2014, 2015, when we, you know, the news media was at that time covering when there was literal duffel bags of cash going through the Minneapolis Airport to Somalia. So fast forward. You know, we&#8217;ve been pounding this drum forever, and to this day, he has not responded to those letters or those calls for us to demand accountability.&#8221;
Emmer went on to say that while he was sad to see what was happening to his state, he was also angry at leadership for failing to step up and do the right thing.
&#8220;It hurts. I&#8217;m mad. I am very angry about this, because this didn&#8217;t have to be this way,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I mean, nobody seems to want to talk about the fact that we had a Democrat attorney general by the name of Laurie Swanson, who was literally investigating and prosecuting Somali daycare fraud back in 2017 and -18, nobody wants to talk about.&#8221;
But as Emmer noted, her investigations were cut short when she lost the gubernatorial primary to Walz — and then Ellison was elected to succeed her as attorney general.
&#8220;And what was his first action? His first action was to create a rule that there will be no more investigations without Keith Ellison&#8217;s express approval, and since then, there have been no investigations,&#8221; he explained.
&#8220;It is not racist to call out criminal activity,&#8221; Emmer continued. &#8220;It is not xenophobic to identify the group of people who are involved, and in this case, 90% of the people who have been charged in the largest pandemic fraud case in the country, the $250 million Feeding Our Future fraud scandal are from the Somali community.&#8221;
Emmer then turned on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/oddsmaker-tim-walz-is-30x-more-likely-to-be-charged-with-a-crime-than-be-the-next-president">Walz,</a> who just recently <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tim-walz-drops-out-of-minnesota-governors-race-amid-fraud-concerns">suspended his reelection campaign</a> amid the growing fraud scandal: &#8220;Tim Walz, by the way, this thing is growing. Whoopi Goldberg practically begged a foreign power — any foreign power — to come in and extradite President Donald Trump, complaining on Wednesday that the United States does not &#8220;have a government&#8221; with him in the White House.
Goldberg raised the issue on Wednesday&#8217;s broadcast of &#8220;The View&#8221; on ABC, where she and her cohosts were continuing their discussion of the Trump administration&#8217;s weekend actions in Venezuela, including the arrest and extradition of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro.
Cohost Sara Haines suggested that Trump&#8217;s voters were not educated enough to understand &#8220;the chess game of the geopolitics&#8221; and didn&#8217;t actually vote for what was happening — and claimed again that Trump&#8217;s actions were &#8220;illegal.&#8221;

Goldberg then suggested that because she also agreed Trump&#8217;s actions had been &#8220;illegal,&#8221; maybe it was time for some other foreign power — and she did not specify which — should look at the United States and consider intervening.

Hegseth appeared to have a good idea of what was coming, and could be seen ducking his head slightly and smiling in the background as the reporter asked the question.
&#8220;Yeah, I know. They&#8217;re gonna say that. I used to be a senator too! That&#8217;s what you always say when it&#8217;s the other party,&#8221; Rubio explained — and then said that the same people accusing him of &#8220;winging it&#8221; had actually been filled in on exactly what was happening.
&#8220;The bottom line is we&#8217;ve gone into great detail with them about the planning, we&#8217;ve described it to them, in fact, it&#8217;s not just winging it. It&#8217;s not just saying or speculating what&#8217;s gonna happen, it&#8217;s already happening. Like the oil arrangement that we&#8217;ve made with PDVSA (Petróleos de Venezuela, SA) on their sanctioned oil that they can&#8217;t move — understand, they are not generating any revenue from their oil right now. Democrat witness Brendan Ballou claimed during a Wednesday hearing that the influx of Somali immigrants made his home state of Minnesota &#8220;stronger&#8221; – but Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) brought data that said the exact opposite.

Ballou once again objected to the terminology, but did not answer the question.
&#8220;The number is eighteen percent,&#8221; Gill replied. &#8220;That&#8217;s quite an astounding difference, I think we would agree.&#8221;
Ballou continued to protest about Gill&#8217;s use of the term &#8220;native Minnesotan,&#8221; but made no move to supply answers to Gill&#8217;s questions.
&#8220;Let me ask you one more, and then we can go into that,&#8221; Gill said. &#8220;What percentage of Somali-headed households are on welfare in general?&#8221;
&#8220;I don&#8217;t know,&#8221; Ballou conceded.
&#8220;It&#8217;s eighty-one percent. What about — let me just ask you, after ten years of being in the United States, what percentage of Somali immigrant households are on — continue to be on welfare?&#8221; Gill pressed again, and again Ballou did not know the answer until Gill provided it: &#8220;The number is seventy-eight percent. So even after ten years, seventy-eight percent of Somali immigrant households continue to be on welfare. Do you know what that number is for native Minnesota-headed households? Non-Somali immigrant-headed households.&#8221;
Ballou protested again, claiming, &#8220;You&#8217;re using the phrase &#8216;native Minnesotans,&#8217; the majority of Somali Minnesotans are as Minnesotan as any of us, they were born in the United States —&#8221;
&#8220;Nevertheless, the welfare usage is astoundingly different,&#8221; Gill declared.

Walker went on to note just how much Reagan had meant to YAF and how willing he had been to participate in programs that mentored students in conservative values.
&#8220;Michael and I last spoke on December 22, 2025. He told me about his health issues and shared that he was optimistic about a follow-up visit with his medical team soon after the start of the year,&#8221; Walker said. &#8220;Unfortunately for all of us, the Good Lord decided to call him home sooner. That said, he and I also discussed his faith and devotion to Jesus. That should give us all comfort during this difficult time as he is with the Lord.&#8221;
