Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) offered to put up $50,000 if Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed holds a rally with far-left streamer Hasan Piker on the 25th anniversary of 9/11, and another $50,000 if he campaigns with his controversial half-sister.
Appearing on &#8220;America&#8217;s Newsroom&#8221; on Fox News, Fetterman challenged El-Sayed to campaign alongside Piker on Sept. 11 and explain why the streamer once said that America &#8220;deserved 9/11.&#8221;
&#8220;He&#8217;s a socialist,&#8221; Fetterman said of El-Sayed. &#8220;But he also absolutely loves Sharia law. I mean, he said that in an interview with The New York Times a few years back. Yeah, absolutely, Sharia law. And he actually has support for Hamas and Iran as well.&#8221;
&#8220;And now he has been campaigning strong with Hasan Piker,&#8221; Fetterman continued. &#8220;Of course we all know the guy that said America &#8216;deserved 9/11&#8217; and that absolutely despises Israel and Jews.&#8221;
&#8220;I&#8217;m encouraging El-Sayed, you know, remind everybody in Michigan who you are and the kind of people that you stand with,&#8221; he added. &#8220;I&#8217;m offering $50,000 for you to do a rally with Hasan Piker on 9-11, the anniversary, and you could all explain to people why America would deserve that 25 years ago.&#8221;
Fetterman then offered another $50,000 for El-Sayed to hold a rally with his half-sister, University of Chicago professor and activist Eman Abdelhadi, whom the senator accused of celebrating Hamas&#8217;s terrorist attacks against Israel.
&#8220;Or do a rally — that&#8217;s another $50,000 if you do a rally with your sister, you know, that she celebrates publicly after the massacre of 10-7! For that too!&#8221; he said. &#8220;These are the people that he aligns with. That&#8217;s the kinds of folks that helped him win the primary now.&#8221;
Fetterman has been a vocal critic of El-Sayed — and specifically his refusal to back away from his associations with Piker — for some time. In addition to his ties to questionable campaign surrogates, El-Sayed raised eyebrows when a number of his own previous tweets regarding 9/11 resurfaced after being deleted.
El-Sayed suggested in at least two <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/abdul-el-sayeds-9-11-problems-just-keep-getting-worse">deleted tweets</a> from 2020 that the American response to the COVID-19 pandemic should be greater than the response to an external threat because more people died of COVID. In another deleted tweet from 2021 — on the 20th anniversary of the attacks — El-Sayed claimed that the American response to the terror attacks had been more egregious than the unprovoked attacks on the United States had been in the first place.

War Secretary Pete Hegseth reportedly favors chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell to replace ex-Army Secretary Dan Driscoll, but President Donald Trump has not publicly disclosed a shortlist for the job.
Hegseth, according to a CBS News <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/hegseth-favors-sean-parnell-army-secretary-sources/">report</a> out on Thursday, considers Parnell, an Army Ranger veteran, his preferred candidate.
The Department of War would not confirm the report, telling the outlet, &#8220;The DOW doesn&#8217;t comment on private conversations between administration officials.&#8221;
White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles is reportedly heading up the search for Driscoll&#8217;s successor and is reviewing potential candidates.
Driscoll <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trumps-army-secretary-makes-surprise-move-after-reported-hegseth-clash">announced</a> his resignation on Monday following reports that he had spent months at odds with Hegseth.
“Secretary Driscoll has been highly effective in advancing President Trump’s agenda to Make America Strong Again at the Department of the Army,&#8221; White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly said following his departure.
Parnell, prior to serving as Pentagon spokesman, served in Afghanistan and commanded what his War Department bio describes as &#8220;one of the most decorated units in the history of the Afghanistan War.&#8221;
&#8220;During his 16-month deployment, he was awarded numerous honors for his extraordinary service, including two Bronze Stars (one for valor) and the Purple Heart,&#8221; it continued. &#8220;Eighty-five percent of his platoon received Purple Hearts for wounds incurred in battle.&#8221;
After being medically retired from the Army, Parnell told his story in the best-selling book &#8220;Outlaw Platoon.&#8221;
Parnell later ran for U.S. Senate in his home state of Pennsylvania with Trump&#8217;s endorsement, but ultimately suspended his campaign during a contentious divorce that included accusations of abuse. He denied the allegations from the beginning.
In a subsequent social media post about his family court case, Parnell said he had been &#8220;vindicated.&#8221;

House Democrats voted on Wednesday to block a constitutional amendment that would lock the size of the Supreme Court at nine justices — as it has been since 1869.
Because the proposed measure would amend the U.S. Constitution, two-thirds of the House would have to vote in favor for it to pass. Thursday&#8217;s vote count, at 212-206, <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/house-democrats-block-constitutional-amendment-supreme-court-justices-rcna595736">failed</a> to reach that threshold — and all but one House Democrat voted against it.
Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) introduced the proposed amendment, which would read, &#8220;The Supreme Court of the United States shall be composed of nine justices consisting of one chief justice and eight associate justices.&#8221;
The need for such an amendment, he said, stemmed from the growing number of Democrats who were displeased with the current makeup of the Supreme Court and have suggested expansion as a means of making it more &#8220;fair&#8221; (read: tipping it leftward).
&#8220;If a sitting majority can change the size of the Supreme Court the moment it dislikes its rulings, what happens the next time the other side is in power? That&#8217;s why I&#8217;m urging my colleagues to support my resolution for a Constitutional Amendment to permanently fix the number of Supreme Court Justices at Nine,&#8221; he said.
But House Minority Whip Katherine Clark (D-MA) pushed her fellow Democrats to vote &#8220;no&#8221; on the measure.
&#8220;This proposed constitutional amendment would permanently fix the number of Supreme Court justices at nine, stripping Congress of yet another constitutional authority that is meant to be controlled by the American people’s representatives,&#8221; she argued, adding that spending time talking about the size of the court would also distract from other business like addressing affordability.
The size of the court, which has been officially nine since 1869, is not outlined in the Constitution and has traditionally been left up to Congress to determine. The Judiciary Act of 1789 initially set the court&#8217;s size at six justices — but it has changed several times in the years since.
In 1807, a seventh justice was added to accommodate new western circuits as the nation expanded. In 1837, Congress increased the court to include nine justices. A tenth was added during the Civil War in 1863, but Congress reduced the court back to just seven in 1866 — a move designed to prevent then-President Andrew Johnson from making any appointments to the high court. The Judiciary Act of 1869 brought the number back to nine.
In the 1930s, in an effort to get around a conservative Supreme Court and push his New Deal policies, then-President Franklin Delano Roosevelt proposed a plan to add as many as six justices to the court — but the backlash, even from his own party, forced him to reconsider.
In recent years, however, more and more Democrats have come around to the idea — and many are openly calling for it.
&#8220;I think that we are in a position now that calls for some significant actions taken by the Congress, and we ought to expand,” Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) said. “Thirteen is a pretty good number. A baker’s dozen would be a good number to have on the court. And I would hope we would get people on the court who will follow the constitutional underpinnings of this great nation of ours.&#8221;
Former Vice President Kamala Harris also suggested that she was on board with the idea of a 13-member Court.
Rep. Don Davis (D-NC) was the only Democrat to vote in favor of the amendment. Rep. Kevin Kiley (I-CA) voted against it despite normally caucusing with Republicans.

While Massachusetts mother Lindsay Clancy waits for 12 jurors to decide whether she should be held criminally responsible for killing her three children, a Virginia mother landed on her state&#8217;s child abuse and neglect registry for letting her son take a walk.
<a href="https://reason.com/2026/09/02/virginia-mom-gets-6-month-suspended-jail-sentence-for-letting-5-year-old-walk-to-the-pond/">Karyann Parkinson</a> told her 5-year-old son, Sam, that he could walk down the street in their gated community in Williamsburg, Virginia, to look for feathers. They had walked down that same street together hundreds of times, she said — including six times that morning — and at eight months pregnant, Parkinson just wanted to stay home and get lunch ready, so she allowed Sam to walk by himself.
That short walk quickly set off a chain of events: someone saw the boy and alerted one of the community security guards, who took Sam home and scolded Parkinson for allowing him to walk alone, Reason Magazine reported. He also reportedly told Sam that his mother was wrong to allow him out alone and that bad people might do something to him if he didn&#8217;t have an adult with him.
&#8220;This scared the crap out of him,&#8221; Parkinson explained.
Later, a police officer arrived, and Parkinson made it clear she&#8217;d had enough: &#8220;I don&#8217;t have any interest in talking to you.&#8221;
And then the cavalry showed up: multiple police and Child Protective Services (CPS) workers arrived at her home to investigate.
Parkinson called her husband to come home, and he did. &#8220;I told [the authorities] that kids need to be able to take reasonable risks in order to grow up non-anxious,&#8221; her husband said.
Police charged Parkinson with &#8220;contributing to the delinquency of a minor.&#8221; CPS investigated her for abuse and neglect, and because it ultimately found the allegations to be &#8220;substantiated,&#8221; it placed Parkinson on the state&#8217;s child abuse and neglect registry. She will remain there for seven years.
After a judge convicted her on the above charge, he immediately suspended the sentence — but even though she will serve no jail time pending good behavior, the punishment for the mother is a steep one, and her conviction remains.
The fact that her name is on the child abuse and neglect registry likely means that she will be barred from volunteering at her children&#8217;s schools. Her conviction could also prevent her from getting her law license — she&#8217;d also been preparing for the bar exam when the incident occurred.

Maine&#8217;s highest court upheld an order giving a father final authority over whether his 13-year-old daughter may attend her mother&#8217;s church, rejecting the mother&#8217;s claim that the restriction violates her constitutional rights.
The Maine Supreme Judicial Court <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/09/02/us-news/christian-maine-mom-ordered-by-top-court-not-to-take-daughter-to-church-after-childs-dad-objected/">affirmed</a> a 2024 district court order granting Matthew Bradeen sole decision-making authority over his daughter&#8217;s involvement with Calvary Chapel Greater Portland, where the child&#8217;s mother, Emily Bickford, is a member.
In the previous ruling, which Bickford objected to, a district court judge decided that Bradeen would have discretion over whether she could attend services at Calvary Chapel. The ruling applied only to that specific church, and the two would share rights and discuss decisions regarding all other religious organizations.
Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel, one of the attorneys representing Bickford, argued in November 2025 that the district court ruling violated Bickford&#8217;s rights under both the First and Fourteenth Amendments. Bickford&#8217;s attorneys also claimed the lower court showed hostility toward her faith, including by referring to her church as a &#8220;cult.&#8221;
The state&#8217;s highest court <a href="https://www.wmtw.com/article/maine-supreme-judicial-court-ruling-emily-bickford-parental-rights-church/73584868">rejected</a> those arguments Tuesday, ruling that the restriction was based on harm to the child rather than disapproval of Bickford&#8217;s Christian beliefs.
&#8220;The court found that the child was harmed by Bickford&#8217;s decisions to expose the child to messages that characterized Bradeen as an &#8216;enemy&#8217; who seeks to &#8216;persecute&#8217; the child and her faith, and by Bickford&#8217;s unwillingness to prevent the child from receiving those messages or to take any other steps to reduce the risk of alienating her from Bradeen,&#8221; the court wrote.
The court said the district judge had not determined that Christianity itself was &#8220;psychologically harmful.&#8221;
&#8220;The court&#8217;s finding reflected simply that it is harmful for a child to hear negative and frightening messages about one parent from the other parent or the other parent&#8217;s authority figures,&#8221; the ruling states.
Bradeen had claimed that the church presented a &#8220;dangerous and harmful environment&#8221; for his daughter. He said she experienced panic attacks and debilitating anxiety after hearing teachings about the Rapture — an event during which Christians believe that the faithful will be taken up to heaven while the nonbelievers are left behind.
Staver declared in a social media post that he intended to petition the United States Supreme Court to hear the case.
&#8220;Depriving one parent their right to instill their religious views into their child and granting sole authority to the other parent fails to give proper protection to parental rights and religious freedom under the First Amendment. The implications of this opinion pose a serious threat to religious freedom. Liberty Counsel will petition the U.S. Supreme Court to ultimately decide this case,&#8221; Staver <a href="https://x.com/libertycounsel/status/2094892200177922306?s=20">wrote in response</a> to the ruling.

An examination of actor Tim Curry&#8217;s body revealed that the &#8220;Rocky Horror Picture Show&#8221; star died of coronary artery disease.
According to <a href="https://people.com/tim-curry-cause-of-death-revealed-12068616?taid=6a9876e907aa2e0001642749&amp;utm_campaign=peoplemagazine&amp;utm_content=new&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter.com">documents</a> from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health — obtained by PEOPLE — Curry&#8217;s primary cause of death was coronary artery disease. His previous stroke (2012) and a history of kidney cancer were also listed as significant conditions that contributed to his overall failing health.
The documents, PEOPLE reported, do not show that Curry had any operations related to his prior stroke, the kidney cancer, or the coronary artery disease.
After &#8220;Rocky Horror,&#8221; &#8220;Clue,&#8221; and Stephen King&#8217;s &#8220;It&#8221; made Curry a household name, he went on to appear in dozens of films and television shows — from comedic appearances in &#8220;Muppet Treasure Island&#8221; and USA Network series like &#8220;Monk&#8221; and &#8220;Psych&#8221; to a terrifying turn in the long-running procedural drama &#8220;Criminal Minds.&#8221;
A massive stroke in 2012 left Curry unable to perform at the level he was used to.
&#8220;I was having a massage at the time and I didn’t even actually notice anything, but the guy who was doing the massage said, ‘I’m worried about you. I want to call an ambulance.’ And he did, and I said, ‘That’s so silly,'&#8221; Curry recalled — but after the stroke, he struggled with the use of his left leg in particular for the rest of his life.
Instead, he focused primarily on voiceover roles. From behind a microphone, he voiced hundreds of characters from Nickelodeon&#8217;s &#8220;The Wild Thornberrys&#8221; to Disney Channel&#8217;s &#8220;Phineas and Ferb&#8221; and many more.
Curry, according to a statement from his publicist, passed away at the age of 80 at his home in Toluca Lake, Los Angeles, on Tuesday, August 25.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that officers were called to his home to investigate. Officials also confirmed that the actor died just after 11 p.m.

President Donald Trump revealed what he believed would ensure he was the last Republican president of the United States: the failure to pass the SAVE America Act.
Trump addressed the issue with Lt. Governor Dan Patrick (R-TX) on his &#8220;Lt. Dan Podcast&#8221; on Wednesday, saying that if Republicans failed to get the measure across the finish line, they would more than likely be sealing their own fate.
Trump began by noting that Democrats, if they regained power, would likely continue to push for statehood for both Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C. — creating four more senators and up to six House members in one fell swoop, most of whom would likely lean Democrat.
&#8220;And you&#8217;ll never have a Republican president again,&#8221; Trump warned, adding, &#8220;On the other hand, if we pass SAVE America, and we have voter identification with photo and if we have, as an example, a simple thing like place of birth, you know it would be nice to have — where were you born? Were you born in the United States of America, right?&#8221;
Trump went on to argue that far more Republicans would win if votes were limited to only those who could prove that they were born in the United States.
&#8220;But if the Republicans aren&#8217;t smart, you&#8217;ll end up with Puerto Rico — where, by the way, Republicans get 3% of the vote. Washington, D.C., Republicans get 3% of the vote, so it&#8217;s not like you&#8217;re going to turn it over,&#8221; Trump continued. &#8220;It&#8217;s radical left ideology, and you&#8217;ll have four more senators, and you&#8217;ll have eight to ten more Congresspeople, and you&#8217;ll never ever have an election. &#8230; I&#8217;ll be the last — think of it, I will be the last Republican president if that happens.&#8221;
&#8220;And that&#8217;s not hyperbole,&#8221; Patrick interjected.
&#8220;And it would be an unforced error because you can stop it,&#8221; Trump concluded.
The <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/saveamerica/">SAVE America Act</a>, in addition to requiring proof of citizenship for voter registration, would also drastically limit mail-in balloting to only those affected by illness, disability, travel, or military service.

A GOP congressional staffer survived a tangle with a bolt of lightning near his Staten Island dentist&#8217;s office on Thursday.
Thomas Fahmy, who works for Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY), was walking down Todt Avenue in the Castleton Corners neighborhood — just a few steps away from his car — when lightning struck, the New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/09/02/us-news/ny-gop-congressional-staffer-thomas-fahmy-struck-by-lightning-on-staten-island/">reported</a>. Fahmy, who was carrying an umbrella at the time, said he felt the bolt go through him and immediately dropped to the ground.
“I was nearly 15, 20 feet away from my car when I was struck by lightning,&#8221; he told local NBC News affiliate WNBC, adding that he&#8217;d remained conscious throughout the bizarre experience. &#8220;It was a very intense burning sensation, tingling, numbness, pain. Severe pain in both of my feet.&#8221;
&#8220;That&#8217;s really a sensation I have never felt in my life,&#8221; he told another outlet, an ABC News affiliate, saying that his feet became so numb that he felt as though he was walking on balloons.
Once he&#8217;d been struck, Fahmy said that in addition to the pain and the &#8220;surreal&#8221; feeling, he was immediately concerned that he could be struck again.
&#8220;By that point, I was scared that I would be struck again by lightning,&#8221; Fahmy said. &#8220;That&#8217;s how unpredictable and really bad the weather was on that Thursday &#8230; I think it&#8217;s not luck — I think [I&#8217;m] blessed. There&#8217;s a good chance that I wouldn&#8217;t be here now, but because of grace, by grace, I&#8217;m here.&#8221;
Fahmy said he called for help from the sidewalk and managed to get the attention of a neighbor, Stefanie Homan, who said she looked outside and saw him on the ground — at which point she immediately dialed 911.
While the chances of getting struck by lightning in the first place are minimal — less than one in a million — the likelihood of survival in the rare instance of a strike is around 90%. Most people who survive a strike are left with burns on their skin, but Fahmy says he appears to be the exception.
&#8220;No burns. I had multiple body exams, no burns at all,” he told WABC. “I went [to] church Sunday to say thank you, God.”
After an uneventful night in the hospital — for observation — Fahmy was sent on his way. His luck, unfortunately, only extended to the lightning strike: a lottery ticket purchased on Saturday failed to win big.
His boss, <a href="https://www.facebook.com/reel/2345292792874243">Rep. Malliotakis</a>, was happy to see him on the mend: &#8220;We are happy, grateful, and relieved that Thomas, a valued member of our Staten Island office, is alive and well after being struck by lightning last week. We appreciate the good Samaritan and medical staff at Staten Island University Hospital who helped him get emergency care.&#8221;

If Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed is trying to get away from the problems caused by his persistent association with Hasan &#8220;America deserved 9/11&#8221; Piker and his own deleted tweets downplaying the Islamic terror attacks that took place that day, he&#8217;s doing it wrong.
El-Sayed&#8217;s name got top billing for the Islamic Society of North America&#8217;s annual convention in Detroit, and he is scheduled to appear alongside a Muslim cleric conspiracy theorist — and a 9/11 &#8220;truther&#8221; at the event just days before the 25th anniversary of the deadly terrorist attacks.
El-Sayed will speak as part of a panel discussion on a &#8220;turmoiled America,&#8221; The Washington Free Beacon first <a href="https://freebeacon.com/democrats/abdul-el-sayed-to-join-panel-with-9-11-conspiracy-theorists-at-islamic-convention-days-before-9-11-anniversary/">reported</a> — along with The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur and Zaid Shakir, a New Jersey cleric who has called for an &#8220;examination&#8221; of the official narrative surrounding the 9/11 attacks.
Uygur, who happens to be Piker&#8217;s uncle, has also raised questions about 9/11, delivering a <a href="https://x.com/cenkuygur/status/2022343543705252210">lengthy rant</a> via X in February in which he said he no longer believed the official accounts:

It&#8217;s time to look for who gained from 9/11. Our government doesn&#8217;t work for us. They&#8217;ve been lying whole time.

They said that anything that isn&#8217;t the official government story is a &#8220;conspiracy theory&#8221; only insane people believe, to gaslight you into never questioning the government.</blockquote>
Shakir, likewise, has called for &#8220;examination&#8221; of the official narrative, claiming that there are &#8220;glaring weaknesses and inconsistencies.&#8221;
But as The Daily Wire has reported extensively, El-Sayed&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/abdul-el-sayed-has-a-deleted-9-11-tweets-problem">9/11 problems</a> are not limited to his participation in such a panel discussion. He has repeatedly <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cnn-gives-el-sayed-a-chance-to-renounce-hasan-piker-he-does-the-opposite">rebuffed attempts</a> — even from within his own party — to get him to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/el-sayed-defends-alliance-with-hasan-piker-in-newly-circulated-video">distance himself</a> from Piker.
A recent <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/abdul-el-sayed-deleted-social-media-sept-11-attacks-michigan/">CBS News report</a> evaluated several 9/11-related tweets that El-Sayed deleted. Two were from 2020, comparing the United States&#8217; response to the COVID-19 pandemic to the reaction to 9/11.
In one 2020 post, CBS reported that El-Sayed argued for a national mobilization to combat COVID that mirrored the response to the 9/11 attacks — while in another from that same timeframe he argued as the COVID death toll eclipsed the number killed on 9/11, he hoped “that means we’ll spend the next ten years fighting a war for public health &amp; against poverty … like we launched a global #WaronTerror after 9/11. We could save lives rather than take them.&#8221;
On the 20th anniversary of the deadly attacks, El-Sayed pushed &#8220;send&#8221; on a tweet suggesting that America&#8217;s response to 9/11 had been worse than the unprovoked terror attacks: &#8220;Today, I mourn the 3K lives, 6K injuries, &amp; infrastructural devastation in NYC, perpetuated ignorantly in the name of my faith. Tomorrow, I’ll mourn ~1M lives, millions of injuries, &amp; infrastructural devastation in 3 countries, perpetuated ignorantly in the name of my country.&#8221;
Matt Grossmann, a political scientist at Michigan State University, told CBS News that he didn’t believe a deleted tweet or two would destroy El-Sayed’s campaign — but the real threat from such tweets was that they’d bolster the overall perception that the candidate’s views were too extreme.
&#8220;Is any specific tweet going to matter for the general election? It seems unlikely,” Grossmann explained. “But does the general impression that he might be too extreme … will that make a difference? That has a bigger chance of doing so.&#8221;
Those tweets — plus his abject refusal to disavow Piker — were already ringing alarm bells. El-Sayed&#8217;s decision to join Uygur and Shakir on stage at a conference is not likely to silence them.

An unlikely alliance between Somalia&#8217;s al-Shabaab and Yemen&#8217;s Iran-backed Houthis is giving al-Qaeda&#8217;s wealthiest affiliate access to more sophisticated weapons while extending the Houthis&#8217; reach across one of the world&#8217;s most important shipping corridors.
According to a <a href="https://www.wsj.com/world/middle-east/iran-oil-houthis-shipping-terrorism-bfa4fd9b">report</a> from The Wall Street Journal, the two groups — both designated terrorist organizations by the United States — have forged a partnership of sorts that could create more problems in the Middle East and further destabilize global energy markets.
The bond has developed despite a longstanding religious divide: Al-Shabaab embraces Salafi-Sunni Islam — and the Houthis adhere to Zaydi Shiism.
Because Somalia and Yemen sit on opposite sides of the Gulf of Aden — through which 12% of the world&#8217;s seaborne oil passes — their alliance gives them a unique opportunity to create and control a backdoor passage for Middle East oil that currently cannot pass through the Strait of Hormuz due to ongoing hostilities.
Jibril “One-Armed” Yahya Ali, the report noted, served as a go-between funneling money from al-Shabaab — al Qaeda&#8217;s richest wing — to the Houthis in exchange for more advanced weapons and technology. As far back as 2023, Jibril was smuggling weapons out of Yemen and into the hands of al-Shabaab militants — but he was killed in a U.S. strike two weeks before the war with Iran began, and the question remains as to what will become of the growing alliance.
“You have al-Shabaab, al Qaeda’s largest and most lucrative affiliate, gaining access to more sophisticated weapons and training,” U.S. Gen. Dagvin Anderson, commander of American forces in Africa, told the outlet. &#8220;On the other side, the Houthis are extending their geographic reach, gaining a foothold that could further destabilize one of the world’s most critical economic chokepoints. This isn’t just a regional problem. It has global implications.&#8221;
Evidence of cooperation between the two groups dates back to at least 2022, according to international nonprofit <a href="https://www.facebook.com/ACLEDINFO/posts/are-the-houthis-and-al-qaeda-in-the-arabian-peninsula-aqap-cooperating-in-southe/1339005748246402/">Armed Conflict Location and Event Data</a> (ACLED). According to ACLED&#8217;s data, open hostilities between al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) and the Houthis dropped off and never really resumed.
&#8220;ACLED data shows AQAP’s drone use has increased by over 300% since its first recorded attack in May 2023. Yemeni and international sources also report drone technology transfers from the Houthis, while United Nations reporting documents smuggling links between the two groups within a wider regional network that also includes al-Shabaab in East Africa,&#8221; the group shared in a February Facebook post, but cautioned, &#8220;Claims of a formal alliance or coordinated attacks remain weakly documented.&#8221;
In 2024, The WSJ reported that al-Shabaab sent Sheik Ahmed Elmi Samatar to work alongside Jibril in his smuggling efforts. &#8220;Samatar presented the Houthis with a lengthy weapons wish list, viewed by the Journal, which included shoulder-fired antiaircraft missiles, 107 mm Katyusha rockets, Dragunov sniper rifles, explosive attack drones, antitank missiles and U.S. night-vision gear.&#8221;
Efforts made by al-Shabaab to obtain more advanced weapons and technology were confirmed to the outlet by U.S. intelligence officials.
Weapons shipments were reportedly disguised as civilian products and sent across the Gulf of Aden via speedboat or even aboard fishing vessels, most of which docked and were unloaded where officials would not see them.
Several al-Shabaab militants have also spent time in Yemen, training alongside the Houthis in drone operations and other areas.
“I don’t know what their plans are, but there’s definitely something cooking,” said Brig. Gen. Ahmed Abdullahi Sheik, a former commander of Somali special forces — and his concern is clearly shared with U.S. military leaders as well.
So far in 2026, the United States has carried out at least 40 strikes against al-Shabaab targets in Somalia — compared with 41 such strikes carried out in total in 2025.

Embattled former first son Hunter Biden came out as &#8220;a little bit&#8221; gay during a recent podcast interview, putting the number at just under 50%.
Biden spoke with host Luke Beasley on his <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_GblOwaOUQ">eponymous podcast</a> and joked about his orientation for a good part of the show&#8217;s opening bit.
Beasley kicked things off by first pretending to announce that former President Joe Biden was going to be on the show — and then feigned disappointment when he realized his guest was actually Hunter Biden. After reading off some of the former president&#8217;s resume, Beasley asked Hunter, &#8220;So what do you do?
&#8220;Seriously?&#8221; Biden asked, before joking that he&#8217;d better admit now to being a &#8220;central figure&#8221; in the Biden crime family.
&#8220;No, what do you do besides be related to someone cool?&#8221; Beasley asked.
When they had exhausted that avenue, Beasley turned to Biden and announced, &#8220;Let&#8217;s get serious. I&#8217;m gay.&#8221;
&#8220;Really? Wow. Seriously. I’m so amazed you’re gay,&#8221; Biden replied.
&#8220;Are you gay?&#8221; Beasley asked.
&#8220;Only a little bit,&#8221; Biden replied.
Beasley followed up, asking Biden whether &#8220;a little bit&#8221; meant &#8220;more or less than 50 percent.&#8221;
Biden: &#8220;48.6.&#8221;
&#8220;If you were gay, would I be your type?&#8221; Beasley asked.
Biden appeared to backtrack his announcement, saying, &#8220;No, a little bit more masculine would be my type, if I was gay.&#8221;
Beasley pivoted to ask Biden about his art, saying that he&#8217;d heard somewhere that the former president&#8217;s son was a painter. When Biden said yes, he was a painter, Beasley replied simply: &#8220;Gay.&#8221;
&#8220;So you&#8217;re like very &#8230; colorful,&#8221; Beasley continued, clearly alluding to the LGBTQ Pride flag. &#8220;A &#8230; rainbow of colors.&#8221;
They kept coming back to the topic, and after a while, Biden said he wanted to revise his number: &#8220;Maybe I take back 48.5. More like 47 after that conversation. My gaydom went down a percentage point.”
He raised the topic once more as the interview came to a close, declaring, &#8220;I just wanted to let you know that I am back up to 48.5 percent gay.&#8221;
Biden&#8217;s comments came just weeks after he said, on another podcast, that the biggest problem in Washington, D.C., was the &#8220;closeted gay mafia&#8221; — which he claimed was made up mostly of Republican men — who ran everything.
&#8220;I believe the biggest problem in America is not the oligarchy; it’s the closetocracy. Everybody knows there is this closeted gay mafia, largely Republican, that exists in DC. The only reason that is relevant is I believe that internal conflict creates so much vitriol inside a person that they take it out on the rest of the world,&#8221; he told Jennifer Welch on her &#8220;I&#8217;ve Had It&#8221; podcast.

California&#8217;s serial butt-sniffer has struck again — and police have once again placed him behind bars.
Calese Crowder, 39, is a registered sex offender who apparently gets a thrill from sneaking up behind unsuspecting women and smelling them — specifically, their posteriors. He was <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/08/31/us-news/californias-serial-butt-sniffer-accused-of-striking-again-as-disgusting-picture-emerges/?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_campaign=nypost">identified</a> on surveillance video from at least two Southern California stores on Friday, and police apprehended him a short time later.
The first call hit the Glendale Police Department around 3:30 p.m. local time, and cops were dispatched to a location in the 1500 block of Glenoaks Boulevard. The report indicated that a suspicious man had been seen crouching in the aisles, and police said that he appeared to be &#8220;sniffing someone out.&#8221;
Officers were just finishing up at that scene when they were called to another location in the same vicinity — and the report was almost exactly the same: a suspicious-looking man crouching in the aisles and appearing to smell people as they passed by him.
After reviewing surveillance footage from both locations, police identified Crowder. They were able to track him down a short distance from the second location and placed him under arrest for violating the conditions of his parole.
Crowder was previously arrested for a similar crime in 2025, when police caught him behaving strangely as he wandered around the women&#8217;s department at a Nordstrom Rack in Burbank&#8217;s Empire Center. Burbank police stated at the time that Crowder had been &#8220;engaging in lewd behavior by inappropriately sniffing her buttocks.&#8221;
At the time, Crowder was already on parole — for a number of similar charges dating back several years — and was charged with violating those conditions. He was ordered to serve 135 days in the Los Angeles County Jail — for that parole violation — in September of 2025.
In 2023, after a similar incident at a Barnes &amp; Noble, Crowder was arrested, and it was confirmed that he had failed to follow a court order to register with local police as a sex offender. At that time, a Fox News digital <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/california-barnes-noble-sniffer-arrested-again-failed-register-as-sex-offender">report</a> confirmed that he&#8217;d been arrested 43 times in Los Angeles County alone since 2005.
&#8220;As a component of a previous arrest and sentencing Crowder was ordered to register as a sex offender,&#8221; Glendale Police said at the time. &#8220;Glendale Police confirmed that he had not registered as a sex offender with our department and was in violation. He was arrested again today.&#8221;
Michaela Witter, who captured the Barnes &amp; Noble encounter and shared it to TikTok, blasted the system that allowed Crowder to be released just three days after his initial arrest: &#8220;Is this real? I think he maybe spent three days in jail … They can&#8217;t do anything until he&#8217;s done something really bad to someone, and I&#8217;m honestly scared that that person is gonna be me.&#8221;
Crowder is currently being held pending his next hearing.
