Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) posted a photo of herself wearing Vikings purple to celebrate the beginning of the NFL season over the weekend, but critics quickly noticed something familiar.
Klobuchar — who is currently running for governor — acknowledged that she brought out the pictured shirt regularly, captioning the photo, &#8220;Game Day against the Packers. Time to get out the shirt.&#8221;

But Townhall columnist Dustin Grage dug a little deeper and discovered that Klobuchar hadn&#8217;t gotten out the shirt so much as she&#8217;d just reposted the exact same photograph.

&#8220;Amy Klobuchar has been a fraud for a lot longer than she has been reusing this photograph,&#8221; Breitbart Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle <a href="https://x.com/mboyle1/status/2099588570101019105">posted</a>.
Klobuchar has sparked scrutiny over unforced errors in the past — the most obvious incident being a New York Times report that dug into her apparent short temper and the way she allegedly treated her staffers. One example of such behavior referenced a flight during which Klobuchar had been brought a salad to eat. The staffer who brought it to her dropped the fork, so the Minnesota senator reached into her bag and pulled out a comb. After using the comb to eat her salad, Klobuchar handed it off to the staffer with an order to &#8220;clean it.&#8221;
Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Brent Scher brought up the comb story in response to Klobuchar&#8217;s latest blunder, <a href="https://x.com/BrentScher/status/2099556181488398351">writing</a>, &#8220;Incredible. Who is eating salad with a comb to pay for this laziness?&#8221;
In a 2019 interview, as Klobuchar was running for the Democratic presidential nomination, she admitted that she&#8217;d once killed a duck while attempting to play a round of golf.
&#8220;Actually, I did one time try to play golf and I kind of misfired,&#8221; she said. &#8220;I do — I have played mini golf a lot with my family — but I misfired on the first try and the ball hit a duck in the head and yeah, it appeared to perish.&#8221;

Drivers who typically opt for the driveway oil change to save a few bucks may soon find that the savings aren&#8217;t adding up the way they used to.
Club retailer Costco recently <a href="https://theautowire.com/2026/09/10/costco-synthetic-oil-price-jump-purchase-limit/">increased the price</a> of its generic synthetic motor oil blend — Kirkland Signature full-synthetic blend. The price jumped in recent months, from a little over $30 for a ten-quart case (enough for an oil change on a standard V6 or V8 engine) to $57.99 for the same two five-quart bottles. In addition, Costco is limiting members to one case per transaction and no more than two cases per week.
And it&#8217;s not just the store brand feeling the pinch: a six-quart case of Mobil 1 runs $44, and the retailer has introduced a five-per-member limit on that item as well.
The reasons for the price jump — and the limited stock — stem from a number of factors, not the least of which is the ongoing war between the United States and Iran and the dramatically slowed movement of oil through the Strait of Hormuz. In July, the price per barrel of Brent crude was around $72. Since then, the price has jumped to $109 as of Monday morning.
In addition to the increased prices, stock has also been <a href="https://abcnews.com/Business/wireStory/costco-raises-price-kirkland-motor-oil-sets-purchase-136426075">severely limited</a> as a result of the continued conflict in the region. Synthetic motor oil like the Kirkland blend and Mobil 1 rely on Group III base oils — and the United States typically relies on Middle Eastern sources for about 40% of those oils. Slower movement along that supply chain, caused by the ongoing war, has forced retailers like Costco to limit what customers can buy.
Limited stock has also been impacted by oil companies that have shifted production focus to diesel and gasoline in order to make the most of much higher profit margins and meet the much higher daily demands.
Further complicating matters, a <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2026/09/13/oil-price-iran-war-strait-hormuz-saudi-pipeline.html">major pipeline</a> in Saudi Arabia was shut down on Friday after a drone attack. Andy Lipow, president of Lipow Oil Associates, said a pump station had sustained damage in the attack.
&#8220;The longer the shutdown, the higher the price. Judging from the online pictures, it will take months to repair,&#8221; he said.
The pipeline was being used as an alternate route to avoid shipping oil through the Strait of Hormuz, and it remains to be seen whether the pipeline will be able to reopen with a bypass around the damaged pump station.

Macklemore alleged that Kraft, whose company owns Gillette Stadium, refused to let him perform during Sheeran&#8217;s upcoming shows at the Massachusetts venue and &#8220;rallied&#8221; other stadium owners to take the same position.
&#8220;We were scheduled to play Gillette Stadium later this month, which is owned by the Kraft Group,&#8221; Macklemore wrote. &#8220;Ed told me that Kraft said I would not be allowed to perform in his stadium. Ed also told me that Kraft had rallied some of the other stadium owners and collectively they gave him an ultimatum: if Macklemore stays on the tour, you will not be allowed to play in our venues.&#8221;
Messina Touring Group, which is promoting the tour, <a href="https://pitchfork.com/story/macklemore-kicked-off-ed-sheeran-tour-for-pro-palestine-comments">confirmed</a> earlier Monday that multiple venues had said they would &#8220;not allow a concert to take place with Macklemore on the lineup.&#8221; The company said Macklemore was dropped following &#8220;discussions with stakeholders.&#8221;
Painting himself as a noble martyr for the cause, willing to risk losing everything for what he believed in, Macklemore proceeded to suggest that Sheeran was a coward for refusing to choose a side.
&#8220;Ed was in a f*cked up position. He knew it. His typical apolitical stance was being challenged in a way it never had been before,&#8221; Macklemore wrote. &#8220;But there is no neutral position between the oppressor and the oppressed. When one side has the bombs and bottomless financial and military support from America, refusing to take a side doesn’t leave you in the middle.&#8221;
He went on to claim that he&#8217;d been shut down because if he had been allowed to keep making such statements from the stage — and he most certainly would have continued to do so — he might have inspired other artists to speak up.
&#8220;If I kept doing the shows, saying Free Palestine, with Ed implicitly supporting it, the crowd getting loud and showing undeniable support for Palestinian liberation, what artist might speak out next? The stage becomes resistance,&#8221; Macklemore said. &#8220;Maybe that&#8217;s why this time it became so important to silence me.&#8221;
Kraft confirmed that Gillette Stadium had refused to host Macklemore but said the decision was based on what he described as a broader history of antisemitic rhetoric.
&#8220;Gillette Stadium has a longstanding commitment to providing a welcoming environment for all guests and ensuring that events held at our venue do not provide a platform for hate speech,&#8221; Kraft said in a <a href="https://whdh.com/news/macklemore-taken-off-ed-sheerans-tour-over-pro-palestinian-comments-robert-kraft-responds">statement</a>.
&#8220;This decision is not about diminishing the suffering of innocent Palestinians or denying anyone the right to advocate on their behalf,&#8221; Kraft continued. &#8220;Their pain and loss are real. But that advocacy should not come at the expense of the Jewish community or obscure the responsibility of Hamas.&#8221;
Kraft said Macklemore had presented selective information and ignored Hamas&#8217; role in causing suffering among Israelis and Palestinians. He also offered to meet with the rapper to discuss the situation.
&#8220;I would welcome the opportunity to sit down with Macklemore and discuss the facts, because ultimately our goal is the same — peace for all people, an end to suffering, and an end to all hate.&#8221;
Macklemore said he hoped the disagreement would not end his 13-year friendship with Sheeran.
&#8220;I hope we both continue listening, studying what is happening in Palestine and wrestling with what neutrality means in a moment like this,&#8221; he wrote.
&#8220;I didn&#8217;t need 10 shows from Ed. I needed 2,&#8221; Macklemore concluded. &#8220;Two chances to stand in front of 90,000 people and say the words that somehow became too dangerous to say. Free Palestine. But if those words cost me the stage, while turning the conversation back to Palestine, then it was the most successful tour I&#8217;ve ever been on.&#8221;

Sen. Jon Husted&#8217;s campaign (R-OH) announced it was &#8220;parting ways&#8221; with its political director Friday after a report said he had once used a photograph of Nazi SS soldiers as his Facebook profile picture.
Stephen Woytek, 25, joined the Ohio Republican&#8217;s campaign in August as Husted prepared to face former Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown in November&#8217;s special election.
The photo in question, posted to Woytek&#8217;s account in 2018 when he was 16, featured German SS soldiers holding captured Soviet banners, according to <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2026/09/11/ohio-senate-campaign-staffer-used-nazi-soldiers-profile-photo/">The Washington Post</a>. The image remained publicly accessible Friday, although it was unclear how long Woytek used it as his profile picture.
After the Post contacted the campaign, Husted spokeswoman Amy Natoce announced that Woytek would be let go.
&#8220;Steve serves our country honorably as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army and is a proud graduate of The Citadel,&#8221; Natoce said. &#8220;He studies military history and routinely reenacts historical battles.&#8221;
&#8220;While he denies negative intent, his social media activity displays a complete lack of judgment and disregard for its impact on others,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;Sen. Husted demands better of those who represent him. Upon learning about the social media posts today, Sen. Husted made the immediate decision to part ways.&#8221;
Husted&#8217;s spokeswoman did not indicate whether the photo was posted in relation to the historical reenactments in which Woytek had taken part — nor did she say whether that would have changed the outcome. The Washington Post did note, however, that Woytek follows a military reenactment group that does portray a German SS division. The LAH Living History Unit describes itself as “a US-based historical reenacting society portraying the 1.SS Panzer Division. We are a NON-POLITICAL group under the National WWII Living History Association.&#8221;
Woytek issued a statement regarding the photo, saying his interest in the topic was historical rather than ideological.
&#8220;I want to be unequivocal: I reject the racist and antisemitic ideology the SS and Nazi Germany represented,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I believe it is important to educate our younger generations, which is why I participate in historical reenactments.&#8221;
Woytek conceded that he should have &#8220;exercised better judgment when posting about my activities online.&#8221;
&#8220;I am utterly heartbroken, but respectfully am parting ways with his campaign,&#8221; he added.
Woytek&#8217;s immediate dismissal comes amid growing fears that the Republican Party may be forced to deal with an extreme wing of its own — in much the same way that Democrats are being forced to reckon with the rise of Democratic socialists within their party — in the form of groypers.
And while the statement from Husted&#8217;s spokeswoman does not indicate even the slightest concern that Woytek is a part of that particular culture, that culture&#8217;s existence alone could be enough reason for the Ohio senator to cut ties immediately.

U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico (D-TX) suggested a new plan for how to &#8220;run our world&#8221; — and the internet thus far appears to be more creeped out than inspired by his idea.
Talarico, who is battling Texas Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton for the seat currently occupied by Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), wondered in a direct-to-camera shot how things might change if the American people were viewed and treated more like a classroom full of unruly five-year-olds than like independent adults.
&#8220;What if we ran our world like we run a kindergarten classroom? Because at the end of the day, aren&#8217;t we all just really big kindergartners?&#8221; he asked.
&#8220;He’s just so … soft. I hate it,&#8221; Turning Point USA spokesman Andrew Kolvet replied.
&#8220;How is it possible that a grown man thinks this is a winning idea? Where have all the men gone? It’s baffling,&#8221; The Blaze contributor T.J. Moe added.
&#8220;Really Big Kindergartner is actually the best description I&#8217;ve heard of what Talarico looks like,&#8221; another added.
Conservative pundit Chris Loesch warned, &#8220;Never let this gelatinous creep around a kindergartner regardless how he identifies.&#8221;
Talarico has raised a number of red flags throughout his campaign — not least of which have been his attempts to run away from his record of support for trans-identifying individuals.
His vocal support for giving young children access to cross-sex hormones and body mutilation includes a vote for a bill that would classify parents declining to accommodate their children&#8217;s wishes regarding gender identity as having committed child abuse.

Radical communist Twitch streamer Hasan Piker spent part of his 9/11 25th anniversary broadcast waxing on about his &#8220;God-given&#8221; right to tell the world just how much he hates the United States of America.
Piker, a Mao Zedong superfan who has often raved about Chinese communism as a better system than America&#8217;s, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZloW_D7hSQ">responded</a> to a clip of himself — in which he boldly declared his hatred for America — that had been turned into an attack ad aimed at Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed.
&#8220;Of course I&#8217;m a goddamn American. It is my goddamn God-given and constitutionally-protected right to say I hate America if America is actually f*cking over Americans. You can clip chimp it all day. It doesn&#8217;t change that,&#8221; Piker complained. &#8220;It doesn&#8217;t change that mentality. To present this as like, oh, &#8216;these guys are real America haters, &#8216; as some liberals have been doing on the timeline, as virtually the entirety of the Republican Party is doing, is so f*cking stupid.&#8221;
Piker continued in that same vein for a time, arguing essentially that until the American government implemented more socialist ideals, he would be far more suspicious of those who did not hate America.
&#8220;How can you not get angry and resentful about a government that does nothing to treat its sickly, to feed its hungry, to feed its starving, to shelter its homeless, when we have all the money. We have an abundance of wealth and prosperity, and we just refuse to spread it around? Of course that makes me f*cking angry. It&#8217;s shocking to me that you act as though it doesn&#8217;t make you angry at all,&#8221; he said.
And while Piker is correct in stating that he has a &#8220;God-given and constitutionally-protected right&#8221; to say that he hates America and how much, that is not what most of his critics are challenging. Rather, they are raising concerns about the number of Democrats — both candidates and those already serving in elected office — who have aligned themselves with Piker.
El-Sayed in Michigan is one such candidate — and after campaigning alongside Piker on several occasions, has spent much of his time in recent weeks attempting to convince Americans that his associations don&#8217;t matter.
On Sunday, El-Sayed fielded questions about Piker once again on CBS News&#8217;s &#8220;Face the Nation.&#8221; Instead of answering the questions posed by guest host Weijia Jiang directly, he suggested she was the problem for focusing on &#8220;a Twitch streamer in California&#8221; instead of the fact that people in Michigan were struggling to afford groceries.
But voters struggling to afford groceries might want to know that El-Sayed has aligned himself with a &#8220;Twitch streamer in California&#8221; who refers to democratic socialist New York City Mayor <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZloW_D7hSQ">Zohran Mamdani</a> — whose solution to costly groceries is implementing the kind of price controls that have never worked — as &#8220;the real President of the United States.&#8221;

&#8220;There was a war on terror, and we won. And yet, so much has changed since 9/11. For example, back then, we were against the terrorists,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Now, a lot of media outlets don&#8217;t even want you to say the &#8216;T-word.&#8217; On the 20th anniversary, four American journalism associations put out guidance that said &#8216;terrorism&#8217; should only be used in quotes because it&#8217;s emotionally and politically loaded.&#8221;
Noting that a number of media outlets had advised employees not to refer to the attackers as &#8220;terrorists&#8221; or the attacks themselves as acts of &#8220;terror,&#8221; <a href="https://x.com/billmaher/status/2098609787739226115">Maher</a> questioned the wisdom of failing to say aloud what the real cause of the attacks was.
&#8220;Really? We can&#8217;t anymore just say out loud who the bad guys were on that morning?&#8221; he asked. &#8220;Those 19 hijackers, they shared something — oh, let&#8217;s call it a world view, and it wasn&#8217;t astrology. But somehow, over time, we&#8217;ve decided not to harp on that, the whole business about who wanted us dead and why. Let&#8217;s not put a name on it.&#8221;
&#8220;When it comes to terrorist attacks, please, there are very fine people on both sides,&#8221; Maher quipped, mocking one of President Donald Trump&#8217;s most often misquoted comments about the removal of Civil War era statues.
Maher went on to mock Canadian State TV (CBC) for telling reporters not to refer to the attacks as &#8220;terrorist attacks&#8221; laying out the definition of terrorism and explaining why September 11th was a textbook example of terrorism.
&#8220;What should we call it then?&#8221; he asked. &#8220;Unruly passengers? A wrong turn taken at the Chrysler building? Why not just say the planes and the towers got into a fight?&#8221;
The BBC, he noted, told reporters that using the word &#8220;terrorist&#8221; could be a &#8220;barrier rather than an aid to understanding.&#8221;
&#8220;You know what&#8217;s really a barrier to understanding?&#8221; he asked before answering, &#8220;Lying.&#8221;
Maher went on to explain that 25 years later, some 20% of young people had a favorable view of al-Qaeda leader and 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden.
&#8220;Was this a clash of civilizations? It was, and it still is. Not between Muslims and Christians &#8230; But radical Islamism versus Western liberalism? Yes, that’s a real thing. Fighting people who hate freedom of religion and hate homosexuals. And hate the idea of women as equal and free humans, how did liberals wind up on their side? And many did,&#8221; Maher said.
The comedian then pivoted to call leaders in the Democratic Party &#8220;cowards,&#8221; saying that their failure to express the moral clarity of Islamic terror has bled into other areas of global conflict and political contention.
&#8220;Nowhere has this moral confusion become more obvious than in a place called Gaza, a little strip of land that was not part of the original Israel, but which they won in a war launched against them, but then gave back as a peace gesture. Did they tell you that part on TikTok, kids?&#8221; he said. &#8220;And the people who run Gaza, Hamas, who you celebrate as a liberation movement but are really a terrorist mafia gang, just like the one that terrorizes Haiti, only ever used it to stage attacks on Israel. I think Macklemore spoke for all clueless celebrities when he said, &#8216;I know enough to know this is a genocide.&#8217; Actually, you don’t know sh*t. It’s not a genocide, it’s a counter attack in a war.&#8221;

President Donald Trump has promised an end to the 15% tariff on Irish whiskey.
Trump was attending the Amgen Irish Open at his Trump International Golf Links resort in Doonbeg, County Clare — and he took the microphone at the contest&#8217;s close to present a trophy to Irish golfer Shane Lowry, who won the tournament.
&#8220;This is an honor. We&#8217;re so proud. The whole Doonbeg — and frankly, Ireland itself has been so incredible, so inviting, and we&#8217;re very honored presenting you with a great course, it&#8217;s been great,&#8221; Trump said, but then he pivoted.
&#8220;I want to mention one thing. Taoiseach and I talked about it, and Shane talked about it, and everybody&#8217;s been bugging me, they&#8217;re saying, &#8216;Would you do me a favor? It&#8217;s so unfair what&#8217;s going on. Could you possibly take the tariffs off of Irish whisky?'&#8221;
The crowd roared with laughter, and Trump smiled before he continued, &#8220;And I said on behalf of the United States of America, I am going to take the tariffs off of Irish whiskey.&#8221;
The crowd cheered so loud then that Trump was completely drowned out as he finished his sentence.
&#8220;Thank you,&#8221; Trump said, turning to Lowry and adding, &#8220;Shane, great job.&#8221;
Trump was not clear about when the <a href="https://commission.europa.eu/topics/trade/eu-us-trade-deal_en">tariffs</a> — currently set at 15% as part of the flat tariffs against many European Union exports — would be lifted. Those tariffs took effect on July 1, 2026.

&#8220;The King and Queen got me to do something that nobody else was able to do, without hardly even asking!&#8221; Trump said at the time.
The zero-tariff policy on Scotch whisky took effect July 24, a change the Scotch Whisky Association welcomed as &#8220;welcome news for business on both sides of the Atlantic.&#8221;

A legacy media outlet may be in a bit of a bind after an investigation targeted just one of the jurors from the Lindsay Clancy murder trial — the lone holdout who voted to convict.
NBC News affiliate NBC10 in Boston published an <a href="https://www.nbcboston.com/news/local/lindsay-clancy-holdout-juror-had-history-of-domestic-violence-allegations/4013408/">exclusive</a> on Friday outlining their investigation into the one juror, laying out a number of their findings and suggesting that it was possible that he should not have been allowed to serve on the jury.
Citing court documents and interviews with members of the juror&#8217;s family, NBC10 reported that he had been accused of domestic violence and that there was an active restraining order against him — and that his current landlord was in the process of evicting him for nonpayment of rent.
According to the report, the juror was accused by a nephew of grabbing his then-wife by the throat in 2021; the couple divorced after the incident. The criminal charges against him were later dropped. The restraining order was reportedly taken out by that same nephew, who said that the juror had punched him and threatened him for calling the police about the first incident.
&#8220;Those details raise questions about the jury selection process,&#8221; the outlet reported.
&#8220;I don&#8217;t see how they would&#8217;ve allowed him to be a member of this jury,&#8221; NBC10 Boston&#8217;s chief legal analyst Michael Coyne said, noting that jurors in Massachusetts have to answer questions about whether they&#8217;ve previously been arrested, charged with a crime, or served with a court order. &#8220;I don&#8217;t see how, if those questions had been answered correctly, one side or the other would&#8217;ve taken the chance with allowing him to be seated.&#8221;
It is unclear whether juror questionnaires are retained after the trial, so it may not be possible to determine whether or not those questions were answered truthfully.
But according to <a href="https://www.mass.gov/info-details/learn-about-juror-eligibility-and-disqualification#who-is-disqualified-from-serving-jury-duty">Massachusetts law</a>, the charges that were later dropped would not have kept him off the jury. Only having a felony conviction within the last seven years — or pending felony charges — would have barred the juror from service.
A number of critics also pointed out the fact that Massachusetts state law prohibits the intimidation and harassment of witnesses, jurors, and others involved in legal proceedings in the state.
According to <span class="iNqyIf" data-sfc-cp="" data-sfc-root="ep" data-copy-service-computed-style="font-family: &quot;Google Sans&quot;, &quot;Helvetica Neue&quot;, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 400; margin: 0px; text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 0px rgb(10, 10, 10);">Massachusetts General Laws <a href="https://content.next.westlaw.com/Document/N0AB2ADC04C8A11E8AC66D29347B85835/View/FullText.html?transitionType=Default&amp;contextData=(sc.Default)">Chapter 268, Section 13B</a>, the section of the statute that covers the crime of intimidating or retaliating against witnesses, jurors, and other court officials:
<blockquote>(b) Whoever willfully, either directly or indirectly: (i) threatens, attempts or causes physical, emotional or economic injury or property damage to . . . or (iii) misleads, intimidates or harasses another person who is a . . . (C) . . . juror . . . with the intent to or with reckless disregard for the fact that it may . . . punish, harm or otherwise retaliate against any such person described in this section for such person or such person’s family member’s participation in any of the proceedings described in this section, shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for not more than 10 years or by imprisonment in the house of correction for not more than 2 ½ years or by a fine of not less than $1,000 or more than $5,000 or by both such fine and imprisonment.</blockquote>
The statute covers both intimidation during the legal proceedings in question and harassment or retaliation after the fact.
NBC10 Boston does not appear to have launched investigations into any of the remaining jurors.
Several other members of the jury — along with defense attorney <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/make-no-mistake-lindsay-clancys-second-trial-has-already-started">Kevin Reddington</a> — have spoken out since the trial, and all have accused the lone holdout juror of failing to properly consider the facts of the case.

Republicans have resurrected an ad that was used by President Donald Trump to great effect in 2024 — but this time they&#8217;re using it against Democratic Senate hopeful James Talarico.
The Dallas Express reported on Saturday that Texas PAC — a Republican-aligned super PAC — was boosting ad buys in support of Attorney General Ken Paxton (R-TX) to the tune of about $51.3 million. Among the ads scheduled to run against Talarico is one that Trump used against former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election that highlights Democratic support for trans-identifying individuals, often at the expense of biological women.
&#8220;Radical liberal James Talarico is for &#8216;they/them,&#8217; not you,&#8221; the <a href="https://host2.adimpact.com/admo/viewer/28339fde-8d6e-4b70-95ba-56c85347e007">repurposed ad</a> blares, highlighting Talarico&#8217;s  record of support for trans-identifying people.
&#8220;What do we really know about James Talarico?&#8221; the ad asks, quoting Talarico as saying, &#8220;Defending trans Texans is something we have to do every day.&#8221;
&#8220;Talarico supported using taxpayer dollars for sex change surgeries on young children and even said denying your child&#8217;s gender identity is abusive. &#8216;Defending trans Texans is something we have to do every day,'&#8221; the ad continued. &#8220;Radical liberal James Talarico, for they, them, not you. Texas PAC is responsible for the content of this advertising.&#8221;
Talarico recently tried to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-undercover-video-exposes-talaricos-transgender-flip-flop">walk back</a> some of his previous comments, saying during a Fox News interview that he&#8217;d been wrong when he claimed that there were six genders.
&#8220;What I meant is there are two sexes and there&#8217;s a small percentage of people with genetic abnormalities. Obviously I didn&#8217;t say it correctly. There are not six sexes, there are two,&#8221; he said.
During the <a href="https://19thnews.org/2026/09/james-talarico-views-transgender-lgbtq-sports/">same interview</a>, he tried to downplay Democratic efforts to allow trans-identifying males to play on female sports teams.
&#8220;I oppose trans athletes playing in girls’ sports if it risks safety or fairness,&#8221; he said, but made no effort to clarify what criteria he might use to measure &#8220;safety or fairness.&#8221;
He also claimed that Paxton – who highlighted Talarico&#8217;s statements about God being &#8220;non-binary&#8221; — was using his past &#8220;cringey comments&#8221; in order to make sure that no one was looking too closely at him. He went on to claim that he&#8217;d meant that statement in particular to be &#8220;provocative&#8221; because he was making about point about God not fitting into any particular box.

North Carolina Democrats are doing their level best to distance themselves from State House candidate Shelly Kates Headen after a series of inflammatory social media posts — inducing one in which she reportedly claimed Trump supporters belong in concentration camps.
In one post, according to a <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2026/09/11/north-carolina-legislative-candidate-wrote-trump-supporters-belong-concentration-camp-ovens/">report</a> from Breitbart News, Headen was <a href="https://x.com/jonathanturley/status/2098474279968927933?s=46&amp;t=5nB3R1hthzMlYMrXjZyN8Q">pictured</a> smiling in front of the ovens at Dachau — the Nazi concentration camp in Germany where tens of thousands of Jews were murdered — and the caption read, &#8220;Visiting Dauchau [sic] Concentration Camp in Germany… This is where Trump supporters belong.&#8221;
In another recently-surfaced post, Headen appeared to call for violence against Republicans: &#8220;I think our only hope is an attack on US soil … preferably Alabama, Louisiana … where the stupid people are.&#8221;
Headen, in interviews, said that she opposed President Donald Trump and admitted that she&#8217;d posted on social media to that effect — but claimed that she could not remember any specific posts.
&#8220;I can’t remember what I’ve posted. I’ve been very vocal against MAGA,&#8221; she said, adding that she&#8217;d paid a firm $30,000 to go through her social media accounts and flag anything that might be cause for concern.
Headen, who is running to unseat Republican John Blust, then compared herself to Jesus Christ, Martin Luther King Jr., and Abraham Lincoln, suggesting that she was a martyr for the Democratic cause.
&#8220;I’ve sacrificed myself just like Jesus sacrificed himself on the cross, and Martin Luther King and Abraham Lincoln and all the people that put themselves out there to sacrifice for our country,&#8221; she said. &#8220;If a few angry moments on social media are the end, then so be it. MAGA will keep winning if we continue with not standing up for what’s right.&#8221;
But Headen&#8217;s posts have <a href="https://www.theassemblync.com/news/politics/democrats-drop-support-headen-violence-against-republicans/">proved too much</a> for members of her own party to bear, and Sam Lozier, the communications director for the House Democratic Caucus, publicly condemned her comments.
“Shelly Headen’s posts are unacceptable and do not reflect the values we expect of our candidates. The North Carolina House Democratic Caucus condemns these comments without qualification and will not support Shelly Headen’s candidacy,&#8221; he wrote in a statement.
The Guilford County Democratic Party has also <a href="https://www.wfdd.org/politics-government/2026-09-11/democratic-party-pulls-support-for-nc-house-candidate">pulled support</a>, stating that they &#8220;unequivocally reject and condemn&#8221; her comments because they &#8220;violate everything our party represents.&#8221;
Others have raised concerns about Headen, citing two 2024 incidents detailed in Guilford County Police reports in which she was named as the suspect and her husband a potential victim of assault. Headen released a competing statement suggesting that she was the <a href="https://www.theassemblync.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Shelly-Headen-Statement-9-3-26.pdf">victim</a>.

Flight attendant Betty Ong spent the final moments of her life helping authorities identify the men who had hijacked the flight she was on — American Airlines Flight 11 — on September 11, 2001.
Ong, a San Francisco native who worked out of Boston&#8217;s Logan International Airport, had been on the job for 14 years and worked the rear cabin as the No. 3 flight attendant. She was aboard the Los Angeles-bound flight with 81 passengers and 10 other crew members when everything went wrong.
The last official contact from Flight 11 to air traffic control was recorded at 8:13 a.m., with the pilots acknowledging an instruction to turn 20 degrees to the right. Sixteen seconds later, Boston Center controllers told the pilots to climb to 35,000 feet, but received no response. After seven minutes of dead air, the plane had veered so far off course that controllers began to speculate that a medical emergency or hijacking had taken place.
At 8:20 a.m., Ong calmly picked up an Airfone to contact American Airlines, and confirmed officials&#8217; worst fears.
&#8220;The cockpit is not answering. Somebody&#8217;s stabbed in business class, and, um, I think there&#8217;s Mace and we can&#8217;t breathe,&#8221; Ong said. &#8220;I don&#8217;t know, I think we are getting hijacked.&#8221;
Ong remained on the line for more than 20 minutes, describing the violence unfolding inside the plane. Shortly after she hung up, someone turned off the plane&#8217;s IFF (&#8220;identify friend or foe&#8221;) beacon.
<blockquote>Male voice: Can you describe the person that you said—someone is what in business class?
Betty Ong: I&#8217;m sitting in the back. Somebody&#8217;s coming back from business. If you can hold on for one second, they&#8217;re coming back&#8230;
Okay. Our number 1 got stabbed. Our purser is stabbed. Nobody knows who stabbed who, and we can&#8217;t even get up to business class right now &#8217;cause nobody can breathe. Our number 1 is stabbed right now. And who else is?
Male voice: Okay, and do we—
Betty Ong: And our number 5 — our first class passengers are — galley flight attendant and our purser has been stabbed. And we can&#8217;t get into the cockpit, the door won&#8217;t open. Hello?</blockquote>
Ong proceeded to give details about the hijackers — including their seat numbers — that helped investigators identify them based on the flight manifest. Men from first-class seats 2A and 2B had charged the cockpit and forced their way in, she said, and the person in seat 9B had also been involved.
Fellow flight attendant Madeline &#8220;Amy&#8221; Sweeney also made a call from Flight 11 that day. Filling in for a sick colleague, Sweeney had not been scheduled to be on that flight — but when it was hijacked, she too picked up an Airfone and called American Airlines Flight Service at Logan Airport, reaching her friend and service manager Michael Woodward.
&#8220;Listen, and listen to me very carefully. I&#8217;m on Flight 11. The airplane has been hijacked,&#8221; she said.
Sweeney proceeded to relay a lot of the same information Ong was giving to another colleague — that the cockpit had been breached and that two flight attendants and a passenger had been stabbed: &#8220;A hijacker also cut the throat of a business class passenger, and he appears to be dead.&#8221;
She went on to describe the hijackers as Middle Eastern, noting that at least one of them spoke English very well.
She also relayed three additional seat numbers that may have been connected to the terrorists: 9D, 9G, and 10B.
While the two flight attendants stayed on their calls, Flight 11 descended rapidly toward New York City. Before contact with Ong was lost, she made a final request: &#8220;Pray for us.&#8221;
Around the same time, Woodward asked Sweeney several times if she knew where they were, since by then the hijackers had disabled the plane&#8217;s transponder.
&#8220;I see water. I see buildings. I see buildings! We are flying low. We are flying very, very low. We are flying way too low. Oh my God we are flying way too low. Oh my God!&#8221; Sweeney could be heard saying just before the line went dead.
American Airlines Flight 11 struck the World Trade Center&#8217;s North Tower at 8:46 a.m., killing everyone on board. Much of what investigators learned about the first hijacking of September 11 came from the final calls made by Ong and Sweeney.
