NASHVILLE — Hundreds of thousands remain without power in Tennessee after a crippling snow and ice storm swept through the region. 
At least 238,999 customers were out of power by midday on Monday, including over 150,000 near Nashville, <a href="https://poweroutage.us/area/state/tennessee">according</a> to a power outage tracking website. Most of those outages were caused by fallen utility poles and trees weighted down by ice falling on power lines. 
Photos and videos of the aftermath of the storm show whole roads blocked by downed power lines and fallen trees. The ice has also led to hazardous road conditions with portions of the interstate blocked by crashes. 
The National Weather Service <a href="https://x.com/NWSNashville/status/2015853603328819268">estimated</a> that Nashville received about two inches of snow and .42 inches of ice, which is enough to cause significant disruption. 
Nashville Electric Service, which provides power for much of the area, said Monday that it had already restored power to over 68,000 customers who lost electricity over the weekend. The company said it had deployed 300 linemen working 14-16-hour shifts to restore power. They said that over 140 utility poles had been reported down in the wake of the storm.

Nashville Office of Emergency Management Director William Swann said Monday that people should “plan for this as a long haul of being out of power&#8221; and that it could take multiple days for power to be restored. 
Parts of the interstate have also been shut down due to accidents caused by icy road conditions. A part of I-65 in south Nashville was shut down after a tractor-trailer jackknifed into a sign hanging over the road, knocking it down. Nashville police have told drivers to treat all intersections as four-way stops due to lights being out of power.

On Saturday, President Donald Trump approved an emergency declaration for Tennessee, authorizing FEMA “to identify, mobilize and provide, at its discretion, equipment and resources necessary to alleviate the impacts of the emergency.”
Many throughout the South have lost power due to the ice storm. Over 45,000 customers in Texas, 117,000 in Louisiana, and 145,000 in Mississippi were without power as of Monday afternoon.

Seven people are dead, and one is injured after a private jet crashed in Maine on Sunday night.
The crash took place at around 7:45 p.m. at Bangor International Airport after the craft attempted to take off during harsh winter conditions. The identities of the victims have not yet been released, and federal authorities are expected to arrive on Monday to investigate. 
The Associated Press first <a href="https://apnews.com/article/bangor-maine-plane-crash-0e56e09867a95201354449aa863daf65">reported</a> the deaths and noted that the injured person was a crew member. 
“At approximately 7:45 p.m. there was an incident involving a single aircraft that was departing from [Bangor International Airport],” the airport <a href="https://flybangor.com/incident-at-bangor-international-airport-avoid-the-area-2/">announced</a> Sunday. “First responders are still on scene and are expected to be actively working the site for several more hours before any additional information is available.”
Fire and rescue crews from the 101st Maine Air National Guard, firefighters from Bangor and nearby cities, and the Bangor Police Department all responded to the scene. 
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) identified the crashed plane as a Bombardier CL 600. The plane ended up upside down and on fire, the Bangor Daily News reported. 
The condition of the victims was not known for over 12 hours after the crash. Local officials said it was the responsibility of federal officials to release that information. The NTSB, however, said that local authorities handled updates on passenger conditions. 
When asked why it had been ruled safe for departure despite the snow and ice, the spokesman said that other planes were arriving and departing at the same time. 
“The snow removal operations were in progress and again, there were planes landing and departing… around that time of day,” the spokesman said. 
An airport spokesman said that federal investigators were expected to arrive on Monday. In a different statement, the NTSB said it expected to be on the scene soon. 
“A team of NTSB investigators is currently assembling and is expected to arrive on scene shortly. Once on site, the investigator will begin the process of documenting the scene and examining the aircraft. The aircraft will then be recovered to a secure facility for further evaluation,” the NTSB said. 
A preliminary report on the crash will be released within 30 days.

Trump&#8217;s address comes as his administration has faced some criticism over its handling of abortion pill regulations and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-says-republicans-should-be-flexible-on-rule-that-bars-taxpayer-funded-abortions">comments</a> the president made on Republicans being flexible with the Hyde Amendment, a provision that bans taxpayer funding of abortion. In his speech and in a White House proclamation issued on Friday, Trump promised to continue fighting for &#8220;the eternal truth that every child is a gift from God.&#8221;
After Trump’s message played, Vice President JD Vance spoke to the crowd, highlighting multiple major pro-life policy announcements the administration rolled out this week.
“Building a culture of life requires persuasion, and that&#8217;s what&#8217;s so different about this moment compared to the moment that was dominated by the Supreme Court for 50 years,” Vance said. “We&#8217;re not trying to argue to the Supreme Court anymore. We are trying to argue to our fellow citizens, and we must build up that culture of life.”
Vance said that changing the culture would take a lot of time, energy, and money. He also said it would mean embracing policies that make it easier for Americans to have families.
In the lead-up to the march, the Trump administration announced multiple major pro-life policies including expanding the Mexico City policy to cut off funding for non-governmental groups that fund abortion, launching a review of whether Planned Parenthood illegally took tens of millions in COVID loans, ending funding for fetal tissue research, and taking action to protect the rights of medical professionals in Illinois to not refer for abortions.
The vice president also addressed criticism from some pro-life groups about the administration’s actions on the issue of abortion.
“I must address an elephant in the room,” Vance said, which he described as “a fear that some of you have that not enough progress has been made, that not enough has happened in the political arena, that we&#8217;re not going fast enough, that our politics have failed to answer the clarion call to life.&#8221;
Vance said that despite “debates within this movement,” there would be “open conversations about how best to use our political system to advance life, how prudential we must be in the cause of advancing human life.”

A self-described “lefty lesbian lawyer” says she was fired by New York Attorney General Letitia James after months of publicly speaking out against transgender medical procedures for children. 
<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/top-letitia-james-deputy-breaks-from-dems-to-speak-out-against-gender-affirming-care">Glenna Goldis</a> lost her position in the consumer fraud bureau after warning about the dangers of so-called treatments like puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones for minors. In July, Goldis <a href="https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/Healthcare-Workshop-Speakers-July-9-2025.pdf">participated</a> in a Federal Trade Commission roundtable on transgender procedures in her private capacity. 
“Today I was fired by NY Attorney General Letitia James for speaking out against pediatric gender medicine (PGM),” Goldis posted on X. “I was an attorney in [New York Attorney General&#8217;s] consumer frauds bureau, which did not work on anything related to PGM. Since 2024 I&#8217;d been raising the alarm publicly and within NYAG that PGM providers may be engaged in a dangerous consumer fraud. James&#8217;s officials treated me like a pest.”
Goldis said that James&#8217;s lawyers “struggled” to identify what was problematic about her public statements. 
“When the general counsel finally identified an objectionable line in my blog, it was where I stated the holding of US v. Skrmetti (banning [pediatric gender medicine] isn&#8217;t discriminatory). She wrote that it contradicted James&#8217;s legal position,” Goldis said. 
Goldis said she was told that she was not allowed to &#8220;take public legal positions that conflict” with James under the Rules of Professional Conduct. She said that the claim was inaccurate and accused the attorney of trying to cow her “into silence.”
James has been a vocal supporter of transgender medical procedures for minors and previously sued to block President Donald Trump’s executive order cutting federal funding to institutions that facilitate such interventions. 
A spokesman for James confirmed Goldis&#8217;s firing to The Daily Wire. 
“The Office of the Attorney General has rules and protocols for employees who engage in activities that can impact the work, operations, or integrity of the office,” the spokesman said. “This employee’s flagrant and repeated disregard of these rules and protocols disrupts and undermines our efforts to protect the rights of all New Yorkers.”
Goldis said her social circles are “full of progressive lawyers.” 
“I&#8217;m a lesbian, i.e., a ‘member of the LGBTQ community’ that James purports to champion. I tried to explain to NYAG officials that PGM, by its nature, targets children who defy sexed norms — whom studies show are more likely to be gay when they grow up,” she said Thursday. “If Letitia James actually cared about ‘LGBTQ’ youth then she&#8217;d research ‘gender’ drugs and learn what they do. Instead, she glibly calls the drugs ‘safe’ and fires me for contradicting her.”
Goldis said she hopes Democratic officials will one day move away from the party&#8217;s intolerance of dissent on transgender-related policy.
“In the end, NYAG accused me of engaging in ‘disruptive public speech.’ Unfortunately, that&#8217;s not true. I haven&#8217;t disrupted the Democratic elite&#8217;s zombie-like devotion to PGM providers,” she said. “But I&#8217;m just getting started.”
Ahead of her appearance at the FTC roundtable, Goldis told The Daily Wire she wanted to end what she described as a &#8220;taboo&#8221; on criticizing the transgender medical industry. 
“I want to end that, I want to break the taboo,” she said. “There’s a taboo out there which is just performing so much work for the gender doctors. The healthcare industry is able to make all this money and pass off all these lies because there’s a taboo against criticizing it. And so I want to smash that taboo.”

A 21-year-old Ohio man was arrested after investigators say he threatened to shoot Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and those he described as &#8220;retarded maga maggots.&#8221;  
The Justice Department announced Thursday that federal authorities arrested Justin Mesael Novoa for threats to assault or murder a federal law enforcement officer and for threatening interstate communications. A raid of his home in December found two rifles, two shotguns, a handgun, ammunition, helmets, a plate carrier, and a Palestinian flag, according to the Justice Department. 
Novoa allegedly wrote on X on November 9, 2025, “can’t wait to shoot these p*ssy ice agents and retarded maga maggots.” Earlier in June, the account later identified as Novoa’s allegedly posted that “they should blast every ice agent they find” and “masked, unmarked vehicles, no badge or id. Every legal right to shoot these p*ssies.”

On December 16, an agent with Homeland Security Investigations served a summons to X to turn over information about the anonymous account that posted the messages. That yielded Novoa’s email and phone number, which investigators then tracked to him. 
When Homeland Security Investigation agents executed a search of his home on December 20, Novoa allegedly admitted to writing the posts. 
“Alright, you got me. That was me,” he said, according to the criminal complaint. “Damn, so Elon does give you access to that,” he reportedly said after agents asked him if the X account was his. 
The account identified as Novoa’s also had a history of making anti-white and anti-Jewish posts, according to the criminal complaint. 
This included posting things like “hitler should have finished the job,” “lets give it back and kill every white person except for the white women,” “id join hamas too. these filthy f***king subhuman rats deserve to be gassed and executed,” and “may the resistance stand tall and wipe out these filthy jews.”
If convicted, Novoa could face more than 10 years in prison. He is currently being held in jail by the Franklin County Sheriff&#8217;s Office. 
The case will be heard by Magistrate Judge Kimberly Jolson and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Timothy Prichard. A preliminary hearing was set for February 5.

An undercover video released by Live Action ahead of the March for Life appears to show a Planned Parenthood employee telling a woman that ending the life of an unborn child is safer than giving birth.
Investigators with Live Action released an undercover video on Thursday that appears to show Planned Parenthood employees being willing to covertly ship abortion pills, and agreeing to ship pills without confirming the gestational age of the child. The video was released as part of an effort to urge the Trump administration to take action to stop the widespread mailing of the abortion drug across the country.
For the video, Live Action said it made calls to 27 different Planned Parenthood affiliates across the country and asked a number of questions about receiving the abortion drug mifepristone. The video featured recordings of the calls with investigators and Planned Parenthood employees.
In one of the calls, an employee at a Planned Parenthood in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, tells a woman it would be safer for her to end the life of her unborn child through an in-person abortion or abortion pill than to deliver it.
“I mean, I would say like both procedures are really safe and effective, but as with any medical procedure, there are some risks involved,” the employee says in the video, according to Live Action. “Of course, you know, we can talk about that more in detail with, like, a medical care provider just to get more accurate info on that, if that makes sense. But I know they’re like, they’re like, certainly like, safer than, like, you know, carrying to term, I’d say as far as that goes.”

In another video from St. Cloud, Minnesota, a Planned Parenthood employee said to a woman that she couldn’t quite tell her what she would see after taking abortion pills.
“You’re pregnant, so the abortion, you will be bleeding and cramping and blood clots to get rid of the pregnancy or get rid of the baby, you know, the pregnancy,” the person said on the call.
In other videos, individuals identified as Planned Parenthood employees by Live Action told women they wouldn’t need to get ultrasounds before getting mailed abortion pills or need follow-up appointments after taking the pills.
“Do I have to have an ultrasound?” the Live Action investigator asks a person identified as a Planned Parenthood employee in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
“So, if you don’t want an ultrasound, if you’re OK not getting one, we can go ahead and move forward,” the unidentified employee responded, according to the recording published by Live Action.
In Portland, the investigator was told she could get the pills sent to her in a “confidential manner.”
“Can I do this without my parents knowing?” the Live Action investigator asked.
“Yeah, we can set it up to be confidential for you,” the Planned Parenthood employee responded.
Other investigators were told that the pills don’t “have to go right to your house” and that Planned Parenthood could “use a different address, you can put like a friend’s address or something.”
The video was released at a press conference attended by multiple Republican lawmakers, including Reps. Michael Cloud (R-TX), Mark Harris (R-NC), Troy Downing (R-MT), and Andy Biggs (R-AZ).
When reached for comment on the video, Planned Parenthood did not respond to the specific allegations but claimed to comply with all applicable laws.
“Planned Parenthood health centers that offer medication abortion follow all applicable laws and regulations and always ensure care provided reflects the latest credible research and upholds the highest standard of patient care,” Danika Severino of Planned Parenthood told The Daily Wire.
&#8220;In accordance with Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s medical standards and guidelines — which are developed and updated with medical experts across the field of sexual and reproductive health care using rigorous scientific evidence — providers at Planned Parenthood health centers explain the associated risks and benefits to patients seeking medication abortion, just as they do with every health care service provided,” she added.
The video was published in conjunction with the release of a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/LA26-The-State-of-Chemical-Abortion-01.20.26-updated.pdf">report</a> detailing the history and dangers of the abortion pill and a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Marty Makary.
“Since its approval in 2000, this drug has ended the lives of approximately 7.5 million children in the United States. Live Action’s investigation now publicly documents how those regulatory failures in safety manifest in clinical practice, particularly within Planned Parenthood facilities tasked with administering this drug under federal safeguards,” Live Action President Lila Rose wrote to Kennedy and Makary.
Rose asked the officials to “reevaluate the approval and current regulatory status of mifepristone, strengthen transparency and data collection, and remove this dangerous drug from the market.”
On Thursday, Rose met with Kennedy and said that they <a href="https://x.com/LilaGraceRose/status/2014396553406886052">discussed</a> the “dangers of the abortion pill.”
Ahead of the March for Life, the Trump administration did make multiple pro-life policy moves that were praised by conservative groups. The administration ended the use of human fetal tissue in federally-funded research, expanded the Mexico City policy, cutting funding for abortion abroad, and took actions to protect the rights of doctors in Illinois to not perform abortions.
Those moves were praised by the Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America organization, which also demanded that they reverse Biden-era guidelines that allowed the abortion pill to be sent through the mail. These regulations have enabled activists to ship abortion pills into states where medication abortions are technically illegal.
“The abortion rate has gone way up over a million at least as far as we can track,” SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser said on a press call attended by The Daily Wire. “They&#8217;re going up in these states because the abortion drugs, of course, through the mail, anyone can order them, they&#8217;re flooding [to] every boyfriend, every trafficker, every woman who orders them.”

President Donald Trump called for Jack Smith to be prosecuted after the former special counsel was grilled by lawmakers for hours about his decision to bring charges against the president in the lead-up to the 2024 election.
Smith faced questions on Thursday from the House Judiciary Committee about whether his investigations into Trump were politically motivated. Smith’s investigation included snooping through the president’s phone records and casting a wide net on Republican lawmakers and Trump allies.
“Based on his testimony today, there is no question that Deranged Jack Smith should be prosecuted for his actions,” Trump <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115940718914667214">posted</a> on Truth Social. “He destroyed the lives of many innocent people, which has been his history as a prosecutor. At a minimum, he committed large scale perjury!”
Smith led investigations into Trump related to the January 6 riot and the president’s handling of classified documents. Smith also subpoenaed all of Trump’s personal phone records.
Earlier on Thursday, Trump said that Smith was a “deranged animal” who should no longer be allowed to practice law.
“If he were a Republican, his license would be taken away from him, and far worse! Hopefully the Attorney General is looking at what he’s done, including some of the crooked and corrupt witnesses that he was attempting to use in his case against me. The whole thing was a Democrat SCAM — A big price should be paid by them for what they have put our Country through!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
According to the House Judiciary Committee, Smith <a href="https://x.com/JudiciaryGOP/status/2014330081619894394">approved</a> toll record subpoenas for members of Congress “without regard for whether the private communications were constitutionally protected.” Toll records show the length and time of phone calls in addition to who is speaking.
“Smith chose to target President Trump, and only President Trump, in his electors case—setting aside other targets so that he could secure an indictment of President Trump in advance of the election,” the House Judiciary Committee said ahead of the hearing.

The university that produced Nathan Hale, one of America&#8217;s earliest and most revered heroes, apparently can’t tell the difference between men and women. 
A civil rights complaint filed Thursday by the watchdog group Defending Education accuses Yale University of violating Title IX and President Donald Trump’s executive order protecting women from radical gender ideology. The <a href="https://defendinged.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Yale-OCR_letterhead_1.22.26.signed.pdf">complaint</a>, first obtained by The Daily Wire, alleges that the historic institution does not take sufficient steps to ensure that women are able to have privacy in their bathrooms without intrusion from gender-confused men.
“Yale University is one of the United States’ most prestigious educational institutions. It also happens to be one of the largest recipients of federal funding of any institution of higher education in the country,&#8221; Defending Education Vice President Sarah Parshall Perry told The Daily Wire. &#8220;But despite its rich history and longstanding prestige, Yale seems content to follow the path of its woke sister ivies in prioritizing gender identity over biological sex, in apparent violation of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972.&#8221;
The complaint was filed with the Education Department’s Office for Civil Rights and alleges that the university’s bathroom policies violate Title IX, which bans sex-based discrimination at federally funded institutions. 
Defending Education wants the Education Department to step in and ensure that women have access to their own bathrooms at Yale. 
“Yale’s bathroom policies likely violate Title IX because they provide male and gender-neutral bathrooms on some coed undergraduate dormitory floors without also providing female bathrooms on the same dormitory floors,” the complaint filed by Defending Education Vice President Sarah Parshall Perry says. “Yale has converted many campus bathrooms into ‘gender inclusive’ bathrooms.”
According to a map <a href="https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?ll=41.31882761989977%2C-72.94422212541701&amp;z=13&amp;mid=19iHelKu2YL3A7smpJmerSSuVfD-Ohr4">posted</a> by the university, Yale has dozens of “all gender” bathrooms throughout its sprawling New Haven, Connecticut, campus. Some of these “gender inclusive” bathrooms are located in residential buildings. 
“With bathrooms designated as women’s, men’s, or gender-inclusive, students have the autonomy over their living arrangements and can prioritize roommate choice without worrying about bathroom location,” Yale <a href="https://housing.yale.edu/undergraduate-housing/room-draw/additional-resources">notes</a> on its website. “Students can be assured that a suitable bathroom will be accessible within their college, even if it’s not on their specific floor.”
This appears to indicate that some dormitory floors have male and “all gender” bathrooms, but not female bathrooms. This is confirmed by a “Trans@Yale Survival Guide” <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20251213175155/https://sites.google.com/yale.edu/transatyalesurvivalguide/survival-guide/bathrooms">that states</a> “most bathrooms throughout Yale&#8217;s housing facilities are gender-neutral and shared amongst students in any given entryway.”
Defending Education said in its complaint that they believe this violates President Donald Trump’s <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/defending-women-from-gender-ideology-extremism-and-restoring-biological-truth-to-the-federal-government/">executive order</a> cracking down on transgender ideology and Title IX guidance from the administration. 
The complaint also took issue with Yale’s interpretation of Title IX and its policies toward “gender identity.” For example, Yale’s “Policy Against Discrimination, Harassment, and Sexual Misconduct” <a href="https://oiea.yale.edu/frequently-asked-questions">treats</a> gender-identity as a protected class. Yale’s Title IX office also responds to claims of both “sex- and gender-based discrimination.” According to Defending Education, Title IX should only apply to sex discrimination. 
&#8220;Yale is attempting to have its cake (nearly $900 million in federal funding in fiscal year 2024), and eat it too (by instituting bathroom, harassment, and non-discrimination policies that pick sides on the gender identity debate). Too much federal funding is at stake to ignore malfeasance and bad legal takes like Yale&#8217;s,&#8221; Perry told The Daily Wire.
The Biden administration attempted to include gender-identity as a protected class under Title IX, but was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-supreme-court-blocks-bidens-title-ix-rules-that-allowed-men-in-womens-sports">rebuffed</a> by the Supreme Court. That came after dozens of Republican-led states challenged the policy.

West Virginia Rep. Riley Moore is pushing for the House to adopt an amendment that would codify President Donald Trump&#8217;s executive order that protects kids from transgender medical procedures, The Daily Wire has learned. 
Moore introduced the amendment on Tuesday night to the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2026, which is set to provide funding for multiple departments, including Health and Human Services and Homeland Security. 
The amendment would ensure that none of the funding could be used in opposition to Trump&#8217;s <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/protecting-children-from-chemical-and-surgical-mutilation/">executive order</a> that orders no federal funding to go toward entities and institutions that perform transgender medical procedures on kids. 
“None of the funds made available by this Act may be used in contravention of Executive Order 14187 (90 Fed. Reg. 8771; relating to Protecting Children From Chemical and Surgical Mutilation,” a copy of the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/MOORWV_041_xml.pdf">amendment</a> shared with The Daily Wire reads. 
The bill under consideration also <a href="https://appropriations.house.gov/news/press-releases/completing-fy26-committee-releases-conferenced-defense-homeland-lhhs-and-thud">provides funding</a> to the War Department, the Labor Department, the Department of Transportation, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The House Rules Committee is meeting Wednesday to discuss advancing the legislation.
Trump&#8217;s executive order directed all agencies and departments of the federal government to &#8220;not fund, sponsor, promote, assist, or support the so-called &#8216;transition&#8217; of a child from one sex to another, and it will rigorously enforce all laws that prohibit or limit these destructive and life-altering procedures.&#8221;
American Principles Project President Terry Schilling urged House Republicans to support the Moore ammendment.
&#8220;Voters sent Republicans to Congress and the White House with a clear mandate to protect children from predatory doctors and their Democratic enablers,&#8221; he told The Daily Wire. &#8220;The Moore Amendment is a barrier to medical malpractice that has done untold harm to a generation of vulnerable children.&#8221; 
Last month, HHS <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-admin-to-cut-funding-from-all-hospitals-that-perform-trans-procedures-on-kids">rolled out rules</a> to defund hospitals that perform transgender procedures on children and penalize doctors who administer those procedures. The rules bar hospitals that offer transgender procedures to minors from participating in Medicare and Medicaid programs. The rules will prohibit federal funding of Medicaid’s Children’s Health Insurance Program from going toward transgender procedures on those under 19 years of age.
While the House has been able to advance measures similar to Moore’s in the past, it could face hurdles in the Senate. 
During the previous debate over the passage of President Donald Trump’s signature “One Big, Beautiful Bill,” the House passed an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/long-overdue-house-republicans-vote-to-end-federal-funding-for-transgender-procedures">amendment</a> from Rep. Dan Crenshaw that would have prohibited all federal funding for transgender procedures on both children and adults. 
That provision was later cut from the legislation in the Senate after the Senate Parliamentarian <a href="https://www.budget.senate.gov/ranking-member/newsroom/press/byrd-rule-violations-continue-to-mount-on-the-republicans-one-big-beautiful-bill">ruled</a> that it was not in compliance with the Byrd Rule, a provision governing what can be included in a budget reconciliation bill.

Late Tuesday night, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem pledged that authorities would soon arrest those who stormed Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Sunday to protest Immigration and Customs Enforcement&#8217;s presence in the Twin Cities.

To do so, the Trump administration could use a law long weaponized against pro-life protesters to prosecute those who disrupted the church service, including former CNN anchor Don Lemon.
The Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, signed by President Bill Clinton in 1994, made it a federal crime for pro-life protesters to block the entrances of abortion facilities. Though the law was also meant to protect crisis pregnancy centers and churches, data obtained by Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) <a href="https://roy.house.gov/media/press-releases/rep-roy-reintroduces-legislation-repeal-face-act">shows</a> that 97% of FACE Act prosecutions through 2024 targeted pro-life individuals. 
While conservatives have long warned that the law has been weaponized against pro-lifers, the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/anti-ice-activists-storm-minnesota-church-with-don-lemon-doj-launches-probe?author=Tim+Pearce&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Anti-ICE+Activists+Storm+Minnesota+Church+With+Don+Lemon%3B+DOJ+Launches+Probe">stunt</a> by leftist agitators at the Cities Church in St. Paul creates an opportunity for President Donald Trump’s Justice Department to flip the historical application of FACE on its head. 
The FACE Act penalizes those who “by force or threat of force or by physical obstruction, intentionally injures, intimidates or interferes with or attempts to injure, intimidate or interfere with any person lawfully exercising or seeking to exercise the First Amendment right of religious freedom at a place of religious worship.”
That would appear to apply to the storming of Cities Church by a group of activists organized by the Racial Justice Network and Black Lives Matter Twin Cities. The protesters yelled and chanted slogans at worshipers, causing the service to end early. Lemon filmed the demonstration under the guise of an independent journalist and badgered the pastor of the church with questions while the disruption was taking place. 
Ryan Tucker, the director of the Center for Christian Ministries at Alliance Defending Freedom, told The Daily Wire that the religious component of the FACE Act has rarely been used. He noted that historically, local and state law enforcement have stepped in to address FACE Act violations, but no such help appears to be forthcoming in Minnesota. 
“Here in Minnesota, at least the state attorney general has come out and said that he&#8217;s not going to do anything to assist or to pursue any violations of state law,” Tucker said. “What&#8217;s really disheartening here is that you&#8217;ve got the lead lawyer of the state of Minnesota, Keith Ellison, saying that he&#8217;s not going to do anything to prosecute these individuals under those local laws, and in fact, has attempted to validate their actions, completely forgetting that the FACE Act even exists.”
Tucker added that it was very rare for activists to disrupt church services.
“The idea that one could go into a church, disrupt it, threaten the parishioners, and somehow get away with it, which is just absolutely unheard of,” he said. “Churches certainly have the right to worship freely without fear that protesters are going to invade their space and traumatize the families that are present, but that&#8217;s exactly what happened this past weekend.”
Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/don-lemon-could-face-criminal-conspiracy-charges-over-involvement-in-minnesota-church-protest?author=Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Don+Lemon+Could+Face+‘Criminal+Conspiracy’+Charges+Over+Involvement+In+Minnesota+Church+Protest">suggested</a> on Monday that the Justice Department would bring FACE Act-related charges against the protesters. 
“I see various crimes that have occurred,” she told podcaster Benny Johnson. “Exactly what they are I’m not going to flag, but the FACE Act has been mentioned as one of the predicates there. In other cases, the Biden DOJ used the Klan Act conspiracy charges tacked onto the FACE Act in the case of protests outside abortion clinics to bring much longer sentences.”
Dhillon was referring to how President Joe Biden’s Justice Department ramped up FACE Act prosecutions, pairing it with the 1871 Ku Klux Klan Act to garner lengthy prison sentences for peaceful pro-life advocates who demonstrated at abortion facilities. 
Biden’s Justice Department successfully prosecuted these cases across the country — from Michigan to Tennessee and Washington, D.C. — and got lengthy prison sentences for multiple defendants. 
 Lauren Handy <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pro-life-activist-sentenced-to-over-four-years-in-prison-over-protest-at-d-c-abortion-facility">was sentenced</a> to 57 months in prison for her role in an October 20 sit-in at the notorious D.C.-based Washington Surgi-Clinic late-term abortion facility.
In another case, 64-year-old <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pardoned-pro-life-activist-says-hes-running-on-adrenaline-and-the-holy-ghost-after-trump-pardon">Calvin Zastrow</a> and 75-year-old Chet Gallagher were sentenced to prison after they participated in a protest at an abortion facility in Mount Juliet, Tennessee, that involved them praying, singing, and speaking to women arriving at the facility. They were convicted under the FACE Act and the KKK Act for conspiracy against rights, a charge that could come with over 10 years of prison time.

Dhillon suggested that Lemon might be subject to the KKK Act conspiracy against rights application if it could be proved that he had knowledge of the protest before it took place. 
“Don Lemon himself has come out and said he knew exactly what was going to happen inside that facility,&#8221; she said. &#8220;He went into the facility, and then he began ‘committing journalism,’ as if that’s sort of a shield from being a part, an embedded part of a criminal conspiracy, it isn’t.&#8221;
As Lemon questioned a pastor during the disruption on Sunday, he asserted that the activists had a First Amendment right to stage a protest in the church. Tucker was unconvinced with this claim, noting that you can’t make a First Amendment claim while infringing on “someone&#8217;s ability to freely worship.”

The Trump administration has already used the FACE Act to go after left-wing activists who target religious services. In September, the Justice Department <a href="https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/justice-department-files-lawsuit-under-face-act-against-violent-protestors-synagogue-west">filed charges</a> under FACE against a group of protesters who targeted a Jewish synagogue in New Jersey.

A coalition of Republican attorneys general, led by the state of Florida, said Wednesday that a major climate group may be violating their states’ antitrust and consumer protection laws by artificially pressuring companies to adopt climate activist policies, according to a letter obtained by The Daily Wire. 
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier warned the Boston-based nonprofit organization Ceres that it may be illegally pressuring companies to adopt net-zero policies. He said the organization was pursuing policies that were an “assault on American families and businesses.”
“Ceres’ efforts to artificially move entire markets and sectors — and in turn artificially change the output and quality of the goods and services produced by those sectors — toward Ceres’ own preferred policy goals bears all the trappings of the ‘adverse, anticompetitive effects’ that antitrust laws seek to prevent,” the attorneys general wrote in the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Multistate-letter-to-Ceres_1.20.25-FINAL.pdf">letter</a>. 
Ceres is an advocacy group that <a href="https://www.ceres.org/about">says</a> it is “working to accelerate the transition to a cleaner, more just, and resilient world.” In emails <a href="https://judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/republicans-judiciary.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/2024-06-11%20Climate%20Control%20-%20Exposing%20the%20Decarbonization%20Collusion%20in%20Environmental%2C%20Social%2C%20and%20Governance%20(ESG)%20Investing.pdf">obtained</a> by the House Judiciary Committee, it has described its work as “the Army ground troops” and “an ‘air cover’ strategic and silent bombing campaign by a newly funded division of the Air Force” fighting a war for net zero emissions. 
The group wants to “transform industries” and <a href="https://www.ceres.org/climate">works</a> to &#8220;engage with companies in key economic sectors to ratchet up the ambition of their climate goals, create robust transition action plans, and improve disclosure.”
In the realm of <a href="https://www.ceres.org/banking">banking</a>, Ceres wants to “reduce their exposure to fossil fuel and high-carbon assets and to increase transition financing of Paris-aligned companies and projects.”
Ceres was also influential in the formation of Climate Action 100+, an organization that <a href="https://www.climateaction100.org/">pressures</a> the “world&#8217;s largest corporate greenhouse gas emitters [to] take appropriate action on climate change in order to mitigate financial risk and to maximize the long-term value of assets.”
The Republican officials said that Ceres’ “approach depends on collusive action to pressure companies” and that it “coordinates pressure on financial actors and companies through &#8216;stakeholder engagement,&#8217; shareholder resolutions, and even ‘investor campaigns to replace directors.’”
Uthmeier told The Daily Wire that a barrage of anti-trust actions could be result if it does not abandon its &#8220;assault on American families and businesses.&#8221;
“Failure to do so will result in a multi-state barrage of anti-trust enforcement,&#8221; he said. 
After being contacted by The Daily Wire, Ceres said that it has followed all relevant antitrust and consumer protection laws.
&#8220;Ceres has never violated U.S. antitrust or consumer protection laws. Like many organizations and associations – from all sides of the political spectrum – we lawfully educate and engage investors and companies on business financial issues consistent with long-standing market practices. Investors and companies make decisions independently and based on what is in their own best interests,&#8221; the group said in a statement. 
They requested that Ceres respond to their letter with an explanation of how their actions adhere to consumer protection and antitrust laws. Other states that signed on to the letter included Alaska, Georgia, Idaho, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
The action was praised by Consumers’ Research Executive Director Will Hild and American Energy Institute Founder Jason Isaac.
&#8220;Ceres is a leader of the climate cartel and exploits its ever-growing network to push radical political agendas and ESG policies on companies and organizations, pressuring them to ignore their fiduciary duty, engage in shareholder activism, and adopt radical climate and net-zero goals,” Hild told The Daily Wire.  
Isaac accused Ceres of manipulating the market and attempting to suppress competition. 
“Attorney General Uthmeier’s letter puts a spotlight on what Ceres really is, the ringleader of a coordinated climate cartel operating behind closed doors,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Ceres uses dark money and collusive pressure campaigns to steer capital, punish lawful American industries, and force companies to adopt radical climate agendas they would never choose on their own.&#8221;

President Donald Trump arrived in Switzerland on Wednesday, just a few hours before he was scheduled to deliver a speech at the World Economic Forum that is expected to touch on Greenland and the future of Venezuela. 
Trump landed in Zurich before boarding a helicopter to Davos, where he is set to give a speech at 8:30 am EST. During his visit, Trump is also expected to meet with other foreign leaders and attend a business lunch. 
“I believe it will be very successful, the trip. The country’s never done better.  We have 18 trillion dollars plus coming in,” Trump said before leaving Tuesday night. “We&#8217;ve never had anything like it, and no country has had anything like it. Prices are way down.  Gasoline now is $1.99 in a lot of places. And frankly, nobody&#8217;s seen anything like this. So it&#8217;s really good, but this will be an interesting trip.  I have no idea what&#8217;s going to happen, but you are well represented.”
Traveling with Trump to Davos are Secretary of State Marco Rubio, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, and Director of the National Economic Council Kevin Hassett, according to the White House. 
Trump arrived later than planned in Zurich after his first flight had to return to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland due to an electrical issue. The problem was reportedly minor, but the White House decided to switch planes out of an abundance of caution, Leavitt told reporters. 
Trump’s comments on Greenland, along with threats to impose tariffs on countries that block an American acquisition, have drawn much criticism from European leaders ahead of his speech.
“I will not yield,” <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/live/2026/01/21/us/trump-davos-greenland-news">said</a> British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. “Britain will not yield on our principles and values about the future of Greenland under threats of tariffs.”
But NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said the main focus should be on the Russia-Ukraine War, not Greenland. 
“The risk here is that we focus, of course, on Greenland, because we have to make sure that issue gets solved in an amicable way,” he said. “But the main issue is not Greenland.
