The Democrat frontrunner for Wisconsin governor faced renewed criticism on Friday after social media users resurfaced a 2019 post in which she said she nearly had an &#8220;anxiety attack&#8221; because there were too many &#8220;old white people&#8221; at a Culver&#8217;s restaurant. 
Francesca Hong, a Wisconsin state representative backed by multiple Democratic Socialists of America chapters, became the clear favorite for the Democratic nomination Thursday after former Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-surprise-exit-leaves-wisconsin-democrats-with-a-dsa-frontrunner">dropped out</a> of the race.

Recent Marquette Law School <a href="https://law.marquette.edu/poll/2026/07/29/marquette-law-poll-finds-expanded-support-for-hong-in-democratic-primary-barnes-sits-second-and-crowley-third/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">polling</a> found Hong with a commanding double-digit lead ahead of next month&#8217;s Democratic primary, raising concerns among some establishment Democrats that her left-wing positions could alienate voters in the general election. 
Hong’s campaign did not immediately respond to a request for clarification on her comments. In a Wednesday <a href="https://x.com/FrancescaHongWI/status/2082837349323464891?s=20">post</a> on X, Hong lamented that “folks are digging up old tweets in an attempt to shift the narrative in this race.&#8221;
“Here’s a Democrat gubernatorial candidate complaining about how she nearly had an ‘anxiety attack’ because there were too many ‘white people’ at a restaurant,” said Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX). “Nothing unifies the Democrat Party more than vitriolic racial animus against white people. It’s evil and indefensible.”
Hong, who is backed by DSA chapters in Madison and Milwaukee and endorsed by leftist Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Ro Khanna (D-CA), has also drawn attention for past <a href="https://x.com/FrancescaHongWI/status/1488133196025843718">statements</a> about policing and race. In 2021, she <a href="https://x.com/FrancescaHongWI/status/1446599006872801282">wrote</a>, “Police exist to uphold white supremacy. Defund then abolish. Reform can&#8217;t be an option.&#8221;
Hong has also advocated abolishing ICE, imposing a one-year moratorium on data centers, creating government-owned grocery stores, restoring voting rights to felons,  and legalizing marijuana. She has also previously advocated for abolishing the U.S. Senate. 
The Wisconsin Democrats will choose their nominee in the August 11 primary. Some state Democrats, including Gov. Tony Evers, are backing Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley.

President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to the country after tens of thousands of African migrants stormed across the Moroccan border into the Spanish territory of Ceuta on Thursday. 
“It’s terrible. Remember that picture. That’s going to be us in three years if the wrong side gets in,” Trump <a href="https://x.com/JacquiHeinrich/status/2083161441268297975">said</a> during a phone interview with Fox News reporter Jacqui Heinrich on Friday morning. “If the Democrats get in, you will not live a very good life.”
Trump&#8217;s comments came after almost 50,000 migrants rushed across the border into Ceuta, a Spanish territory on the tip of Morocco, bringing widespread chaos and unrest. At least <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/34-dead-after-tens-of-thousands-of-migrants-invade-spain">34 people died</a> as thousands of migrants, mostly young men, attempted to swim or force their way into Ceuta. 
The migrants, emboldened by the lax immigration policies of leftist Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, brought chaos to the streets of Ceuta, causing fear among locals who were overwhelmed by the flood. 
The images were reminiscent of <a href="https://x.com/JennieSTaer/status/1770886341879885952">video</a> captured during the Biden administration of a large mob of young men breaking down razor wire and fencing to storm past Texas National Guard troops stationed in El Paso. Over seven million illegal immigrants from all over the world crossed the United States border during President Joe Biden’s presidency. 
Many other Republicans echoed Trump’s comments in response to the scenes of chaos from Spain.

At least 34 people died Thursday as nearly 50,000 illegal migrants invaded the Spanish territory of Ceuta from Morocco.
Many of the deaths were drownings as migrants attempted to swim into Ceuta. Others were killed when they were trampled as the swarm of people <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/07/31/world-news/at-least-18-migrants-die-trying-to-cross-morocco-spain-border-a-serious-humanitarian-crisis/">broke down</a> gates and overwhelmed Spanish border officials. Most of the migrants appear to be young men.
Leftist Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, who recently paved the way for a million illegal migrants to obtain legal status, claimed he would end the chaos. 
“The Government of Spain is fully committed to providing an immediate response to the situation in Ceuta,” he said. “We are mobilizing all necessary resources, working with Moroccan and international authorities, and preparing the necessary measures to restore normalcy as soon as possible.”
Later on Friday, he added that the migrant flood &#8220;deserves our full reproach, our condemnation at the strongest possible level of rejection, condemnation, and consideration as deplorable.&#8221;
The military has been mobilized to respond to the massive influx of illegal migrants who were emboldened by a decision from Spain’s Supreme Court that migrants crossing by sea cannot be immediately deported.
As they pushed past border officials, migrants reportedly chanted “Bye Bye Morocco, hello Spain.” Almost 50,000 migrants entered Ceuta and they flooded the streets. One video shared online shows a man pooping in the streets. 
“Businesses closed. Shops shut because if you open a business, it gets overrun. … We’re scared. The streets are packed. There are no measures in place. It’s every man for himself. They’re not giving us any help,” one local restaurant owner <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/07/31/world-news/thousands-of-illegal-african-migrants-overrun-spanish-enclave-turn-streets-into-open-toilets-and-bathe-in-fountains-an-apocalypse/">said</a>. 
Another local described the event as an &#8220;apocalypse.&#8221; 
Migrant Ajoub el-Arrot <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/live/2026/07/31/world/spain-ceuta-migrants-morocco">told</a> The New York Times he entered Ceuta looking for a job. 
“I don’t know why they let us through. Maybe they had some political reason,” he said. “They opened the border and let everyone go by.”
Another person told Reuters that he simply pushed past the police. 
“It was very tough,” Jadid Zacaria said. “The police tried to stop us. But our will and determination allowed us to come here.”
Santiago Abascal of the Right-wing Vox party said the influx was welcomed by Sánchez. 
“They’re not fleeing from war or poverty. It’s an invasion,” he said. “They are military-aged men invited by Pedro Sanchez’s corrupt government to storm our borders so they can roam Spain’s streets shouting ‘Viva Pedro Sanchez.’” 
In response to the videos coming from Ceuta, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said Italy is &#8220;prepared to intervene with extraordinary measures to defend the borders and the safety of citizens, including the suspension of the Schengen Area with Spain.&#8221; The Schengen Area is a zone that allows people to travel between 29 European countries without border checks.
“The images coming from Ceuta are striking and demonstrate, once again, that uncontrolled illegal immigration poses a concrete threat to the security of Europe&#8217;s borders.” she said. “On illegal immigration, we will not yield an inch: defending the borders, stopping human traffickers, and ensuring effective repatriations will continue to be the line of this Government.”
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called the situation in Ceuta “unacceptable.&#8221; 
“We cannot allow anyone to come to our Union without abiding by our rules,” she said. “Dangerous crossings must stop immediately. Smuggling networks must be dismantled. And returns must be swift, as our rules allow.”

Leftist agitators set up a “lawless” zone in Madison, Wisconsin, to protest the fatal police shooting of a knife-wielding felon, prompting local residents to lash out at city officials for not doing anything to restore order to the streets. 
Multiple blocks of a Madison neighborhood are blocked by barricades of wooden pallets, trash cans, and boards with nails sticking out of them to protest the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/watch-how-police-react-as-screaming-protester-takes-over-briefing-on-fatal-shooting?author=Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=4&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Watch+How+Police+React+As+Screaming+Protester+Takes+Over+Briefing+On+Fatal+Shooting">shooting</a> of Corey Ruiz, a man with an extensive criminal history. Tents were also set up in the zone by activists, and the homeless population has moved into the zone as city officials ignore calls from locals to clear the area. 
The city is even helping the agitators, bringing in portable toilets, trash cans, and even parked trucks to block off intersections, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel <a href="https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/crime/2026/07/29/madisons-corey-ruiz-protest-encampment-draws-frustration-as-it-persists/91084501007/?gnt-cfr=1&amp;gca-cat=p&amp;gca-uir=true&amp;gca-epti=z11xx48p004950n11----l116550c11----u003548e1124xxv11xx48&amp;gca-ft=282&amp;gca-ds=sophi">reported</a>. 
“As a resident trapped in the protest zone, I feel the protest turned into a very disrespectful occupation focused on punishing Willy Street for the incident,” one local <a href="https://www.wmtv15news.com/2026/07/28/madison-memorial-blocks-williamson-street-businesses-residents-nearly-week/">told</a> WMTV. “It is now a lawless zone and homeless encampment barricaded on all four sides with groups blocking local residences and businesses from surviving.”
The neighborhood has been plagued by people urinating in the streets, drinking, loud fights, and agitators stealing trash cans for their blockade. One sign put up in the zone reads, &#8220;There’s more of us than them. We must revolt.” 
“I feel like we are suffering and we shouldn’t be. Like [protesters] are claiming that they’re supporting the community by being down here, but they’re actually harming the community by shutting down major businesses on this stretch,” Jeff Schmidt, the co-owner of the Weary Traveler restaurant, told the Sentinel. 
The city of Madison did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Daily Wire, but Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway&#8217;s office previously said officials were “exploring many avenues to reach a successful resolution without further heightening tensions and causing more harm to impacted community members, including protesters.”
&#8220;A number of different City agencies are working to meet the needs of the neighborhood to the best of their ability,” she told the Sentinel. “We ask that everyone extend grace to each other in this difficult time.”
The unrest stems from an incident last week in which police say Ruiz pulled a knife on them. Ruiz had dozens of criminal convictions, including for robbery by force, strangulation, drug possession, vehicle theft and battery of a public safety worker, resisting law enforcement, and drug paraphernalia.
Other residents told the outlet that they are “very much upset with Madison leadership,” that the area is in a “state of fight-or-flight,” and that they described the situation as “extremely stressful.” 
Sentinel reporter Laura Schulte posted photos and videos from what she said people are calling the “Corey Ruiz Autonomous Zone.”

Abdul El-Sayed has campaigned on reaching across the religious divide with an appeal to Christians and Muslims alike, and he boasts that over two dozen Christian leaders back his bid to replace Michigan Senator Gary Peters. Those leaders include a pastor who suggested conservative activist Charlie Kirk deserved to be shot and the senior pastor of a church that hosted a drag event for kids.
El-Sayed, who once <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/aug/24/next-obama-abdul-el-sayed-first-muslim-governor-michigan" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hoped</a> to be America&#8217;s first Muslim governor, is locked in a competitive primary race with Democrat Rep. Haley Stevens. While many of his positions on topics from abortion to so-called &#8220;gender-affirming care&#8221; directly conflict with the Bible, that has not deterred some Christians from backing his campaign.
Included among El-Sayed&#8217;s supporters is Larry Davis, the pastor of Christian Tabernacle Baptist in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Davis, who believes that President Donald Trump faked the multiple assassination attempts, had no kind words for Charlie Kirk after his murder.
“He is being held as a hero. We shouldn&#8217;t be happy that he got killed. But we shall embrace that you REAP what you SOW,” Davis <a href="https://www.facebook.com/logosmediator/posts/pfbid02RVYALdHTR2JVwFz7KctircVUXk8dE2xCjZSq5asDDfvxwyncGSWZuKQh5sXwvGJBl">posted</a> on Facebook alongside an anti-Kirk meme the day after the popular conservative activist was gunned down at an event at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025.

In another post, Davis shared a clip of Kirk criticizing DEI and <a href="https://www.facebook.com/logosmediator/posts/pfbid0Jajkv4JjjFt7QpvXLSt6CKcjc1Jwe8bySvguuSjNNpV8BRWAZgMWrVmXsK5qXkaxl">asked</a>, “Would you give a racist out of his own mouth the medal of freedom.”
On September 19, the pastor again spread his message that Kirk reaped what he sowed.
“No man should take it on himself to take the life of another. But the scriptures says be not deceived God is not mocked. Whatsoever a man show [sic] that shall he also reap,” Davis said alongside an AI-generated image of Kirk and Jesus Christ.
The Daily Wire sent a message to Davis to ask about his support for El-Sayed. His church, which has no listed email address, did not answer multiple phone calls.
Pastor Terrance Johnson, another religious leader who endorsed El-Sayed, shared a similar animus toward Kirk. He suggested that he was not sad about Kirk’s assassination because he was a “racist bigot.”
“You will accept a black man refusing to mourn his own father but you wil [sic] not accept a black man refusing to mourn a racist bigot because….. We all know why,” Johnson posted in a long screed quoting Tupac song lyrics a day after Kirk’s killing.

When someone commented on his post, “is this the heart of Christ,” Johnson responded by saying, “what is the heart of Christ.”
In another post, Johnson claimed that ICE was equivalent to the Ku Klux Klan.
“So ICE is the KKK rebranded. Still wearing mask it’s just that the badges are now out instead of being hid under the sheets,” he said.
Johnson’s Church, Second Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe, Michigan, recently <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/Da5Kv7hgwwr/">hosted</a> El-Sayed for an event. In a Facebook post, the church <a href="https://www.facebook.com/reel/1008191515327976">said</a> the event was for the Democrat to share “why he’s running for office.”
During the appearance, El-Sayed claimed to attendees that he was the only candidate who could “guarantee you healthcare” and attacked America’s history as “sordid,” according to a video posted by the church.
“We just commemorated 250 years. And I know there&#8217;s a lot of sordid history in those 250 years, but I also know what my life would have been had I been born in a place that I was supposed to be born. But for an accident of history, I get born here,” El-Sayed said. “Are we willing to put ourselves back in to correct that system so that the next 250 look a lot better than the last ones did?”
“It is the many versus their money. We got a choice. Do we want them to come in and buy an election?,” he added.

“Second Missionary Baptist Church of Monroe does not endorse or oppose any political candidate or party,” the church posted on July 17. “Our prayer is that every voter takes time to seek wisdom, research the candidates, and make an informed decision at the ballot box.”
Another pastor backing El-Sayed’s campaign is the ultra-woke Nathan Dannison of Fountain Street Church in Grand Rapids, which recently hosted a “queer prom” for adults and youth that <a href="https://www.facebook.com/FountainStChurch/posts/pfbid0jKRtWoLiCbmbVCfLggmD7JiVrBDH99WCEtbi8S6THySZAqP78MAx7cNLHYGJnvt1l" target="_blank" rel="noopener">featured</a> “12 drag performances.”
Dannison, who recently <a href="https://nathandannison.substack.com/p/preaching-about-psychedelics">said</a> that psychedelics have been part of his “spiritual discipline” for the last twenty years, said that abolishing ICE is a baseline position any candidate supported by him needs to take. In recent Facebook posts, Dannison has defended El-Sayed over his strong anti-Israel positions.
Dannison <a href="https://www.facebook.com/nscottnorth/posts/pfbid0keXseMToK1b6q7uxnda7z8Ad6MyDkAPSG3F3zWYwC48srDutvR1FUFNtJqCGpGcvl">said</a> that he’s “pretty horrified by a lot of the anti-Abdul posts I&#8217;m seeing from center-left Michigan voters that are obviously mashing the ‘fwd:fwd:fwd’ button or the copy-pasting ad copy from astro-turfed emails/sms/etc from defense lobbyists.”
“Dr. El-Sayed is not antisemitic. To the contrary, one of the reasons I support him is because he understands the real and present dangers facing Jewish Americans who are being blamed for foreign policies and wars that have absolutely nothing to do with their religion and history in this country,” he added.
Fountain Street Church <a href="https://fountainstreet.org/justice/choice-fund" target="_blank" rel="noopener">raises funds</a> for women to end the lives of their unborn children and says it is “proud to be the State&#8217;s longest standing abortion fund.”
Other pastors backing El-Sayed’s campaign included Detroit Rev. Horace Sheffield III of New Destiny Christian Fellowship and Rev. Keith Whitney of Sanctuary Fellowship Baptist Church.
Sheffield, who unsuccessfully <a href="https://ballotpedia.org/Horace_Sheffield">ran</a> for Congress in 2014 and <a href="https://www.horacesheffield.com/projects/)" target="_blank" rel="noopener">appeared</a> in the anti-white documentary “White With Fear,” sells anti-Trump t-shirts on his ministry website that say “I will take Biden in a wheel chair over Trump standing up.”

Whitney is the <a href="https://www.mosesaction.com/boardmembers/blog-post-title-one-gd3dr" target="_blank" rel="noopener">president</a> of Moses Action, an advocacy group that pushes for left-wing criminal justice reform and <a href="https://www.mosesaction.com/reproductive-freedom-statement" target="_blank" rel="noopener">supported</a> a ballot initiative to make the right to end the life of your unborn child a constitutional right.
“Throughout black history, government officials — most of them white men — have made decisions about black women’s bodies and health that have been harmful, traumatizing, and often deadly. Granting our current lawmakers the ability to dictate personal health decisions feels like a dangerous step backwards,” the group said in a statement.
Several of the pastors listed on El-Sayed’s campaign website, including Bishop Alan Evans and Pastor Parris McMurray, appear to be affiliated with the Church of God In Christ, Inc. The denomination <a href="https://www.cogic.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/SOLife-Resolution-11_12_19-1.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">adopted</a> a &#8220;sanctity of life” resolution in 2019 that “abortion is the killing of the innocent” and describes abortion as “genocide.”
The denomination did not respond to questions about its pastors endorsing the pro-abortion El-Sayed.
El-Sayed wants to codify the right to an abortion in federal law and suggested he will fight back on efforts to crackdown on abortion pills.
“Everyone has the right to make personal decisions about their healthcare,” his campaign <a href="https://abdulforsenate.com/priority/medicare-for-all-the-path-to-a-healthier-america/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a> says. “That includes reproductive and gender-affirming care. I’ll fight to codify the rights once protected by Roe v. Wade into federal law.”
Earlier this month, El-Sayed earned the endorsement of the Council of Baptist Pastors of Detroit and Vicinity, which said it supported his emphasis on “affordability” and “human dignity.” It did not respond to questions about El-Sayed leftist advocacy on social issues.
“Pastors attend to their communities in the best and worst of times, and their support is about trusting me to show up in those moments with them,” El-Sayed said. “Together, we’re building a Michigan that brings people together across faiths, regions, and backgrounds in the work of offering dignity, opportunity, and respect for every Michigander.”

The Trump administration will pay seven-figures to a Christian father whose home was raided nearly four years ago by heavily armed FBI agents as part of former President Joe Biden’s crackdown on peaceful pro-life protesters. 
The settlement between pro-life advocate Paul Vaughn and the Justice Department is a remarkable reversal after the father of 11 once faced over a decade in prison due to the charges brought by Biden&#8217;s DOJ. The settlement was announced Tuesday by the Thomas More Society, a religious liberty law firm that represented Vaughn throughout his battle with the federal government. 
Vaughn’s Centerville, Tennessee, home was raided by gun-toting FBI agents in October 2022 over his involvement in a March 2021 protest that included praying and hymn singing at a local abortion facility. As several FBI agents corralled his children getting ready for school, other agents took Vaughn into custody in a dramatic show of force. 
“From the very moment that I was handcuffed and put in the back of the car, they showed me on their screen that it was a FACE Act violation, I knew from that moment on that it was political. But I knew something more than that,” Vaughn told The Daily Wire in an interview. “I knew that it was God telling a story, and that it wasn&#8217;t my story, and therefore, the responsibility wasn&#8217;t me. And so I trusted in Him.”
The FACE Act is a Clinton-era law used overwhelmingly against pro-life protesters if they are seen as impeding access to an abortion facility. Under Biden, prosecutors paired it with the hefty conspiracy against civil rights charge that could bring a prison term of more than 10 years. 
Pardoned alongside nearly two dozen other pro-life advocates by President Donald Trump in January 2025, Vaughn sued the government for its heavy-handed prosecution of him. The settlement includes the DOJ admitting it abused its power and concludes the suit.

In one email, Biden official Sanjay Patel wrote that the “unspoken reason” the FBI was going to stage dramatic arrests rather than allow self-surrender was because “the FBI really likes to make arrests.”
Vaughn, who ended up being sentenced to six months of house arrest, said the ordeal strengthened his faith and Christian convictions. 
“The important thing that we have is we have a duty to walk humbly, to love justice, and to seek mercy,” he told The Daily Wire. “Regardless of whether there&#8217;s people trying to write injustices or whether people that are trying to persecute and cause more injustice are Christian responsibilities the same.”
Steve Crampton, a lawyer with the Thomas More Society who defended Vaughn, praised the Trump administration&#8217;s handling of Biden’s pro-life prosecutions. He noted that it would not surprise him if other settlements between pro-lifers and the Justice Department were announced in the coming months. 
He told The Daily Wire that the DOJ under Trump was “genuinely interested in trying to right the wrongs of previous administrations” and “trying to do what they can to restore some respect for the rule of law.”

Pro-abortion organizations provided dossiers to the Biden DOJ with personal information and pictures of pro-life activists who were not yet charged with any crimes, but were later arrested by the FBI.
&#8220;I think there&#8217;s no question that this was a politicized prosecution of Paul and the others,” Crampton added. “This was a vindictive set of prosecutions meant purely to punish and deter pro-lifers from ever going back out again.”
Crampton said that Congress needed to act to repeal the FACE Act. The House Judiciary Committee approved a repeal of the FACE Act last year, but the legislation has stalled out. 
“That is an abhorrent law, it is without constitutional support for its passage in the first place,” he said. “And it is a horrific weapon that can and probably will be used again to cudgel pro-lifers in the future if we don&#8217;t take care of it now.”
While noting that the settlement was a big win, Crampton said the Biden prosecutions reminded Americans of their need to stay vigilant about government overreach. 
“We can never go to sleep,” he said. “If we don&#8217;t watch the ones that are watching us effectively, our federal overseers, then we have no one to blame but ourselves.”

After President Joe Biden outraged millions of Christians by declaring Easter Sunday as the “Transgender Day of Visibility,” former Republican representative David Jolly stood by him. 
Jolly, now running for governor in Florida as a Democrat, did a media tour to defend Biden and lecture conservatives about their theology. Now, Democrats are running him to replace Ron DeSantis as governor of Florida as he attempts to sweep culture war issues under the rug. 
Many Democrats have been quiet on the transgender issues this election cycle after polling showed that the issue hampered Kamala Harris in 2024. Jolly was vocal about the topic during his post-Republican days, attacking his former party for passing laws banning transgender procedures on kids and keeping gender-confused boys off of girls&#8217; sports teams.
Jolly even vigorously defended Biden after he called in March 2024 for Americans on Easter Sunday to “join us in lifting up the lives and voices of transgender people throughout our Nation.” Biden’s decision prompted significant pushback from prominent Republicans like House Speaker Mike Johnson and the Trump campaign. Jolly said their politics and theology were wrong. 
“The Jesus they celebrate today would be inclusive of the transgender community, and would be supportive of the transgender community,” he said while <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MaAJMq4_gdg">appearing</a> on MSNBC, adding that “all Christians, including Donald Trump, Mike Johnson, and others who celebrate today, that, in fact, they should love the transgender community as they love their own God. I am not sure the theology upon which they rely to criticize Joe Biden.”
“I think it&#8217;s wrong theologically, it&#8217;s wrong morally, and it&#8217;s absolutely stupid politically,” he added. 
In another appearance on the Stephanie Miller Happy Hour podcast, he said conservatives turned Biden’s proclamation into the latest “culture war” flash point. 
“First, theologically and doctrinally, I think the Right is wrong when it comes to biblical theology. I think they&#8217;re a long ways from what Jesus would do, the bracelets they used to wear,” he said. “ The reality is Jesus is a loving God who would support the trans community and be proud of their bravery and the struggle that they have gone through for recognition and equity.”
In other media appearances reviewed by The Daily Wire, Jolly attacked a law shielding kids from transgender procedures and claimed that kids would be ripped away from their parents if they obtained transgender medications from outside of Florida. 
“That&#8217;s the real consequence of this war on gender-affirming care and the trans community,” he said on the Joe Walsh <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0HXaFr8uaE">podcast</a>. “I don&#8217;t have a personal appreciation or understanding of what all that is like. But I know what it would feel like if the state stepped in and say, ‘Hey, Jolly, you&#8217;re not allowed to make decisions for your kid?’”
Jolly also said he was fine with biological boys competing on girls’ sports teams during an interview with radio host Charlie Sykes. 
“I think it&#8217;s been pretty disgusting what we&#8217;ve seen from Republicans in the past several years on this. Look, I don&#8217;t think we need to knock down that youth soccer player who is working with their family and their doctor on whatever their current, you know, crisis is personally,” he said. “I think it can be supportive of them to allow them to play in youth sports.”
Ultimately he said he thought that the case should be decided by the Supreme Court.
&#8220;I think some latitude among the sports leagues to make decisions, but ultimately, it&#8217;s a constitutional question that the courts are going to have to decide,&#8221; he said. 
Jolly, whose issues page on his website does not mention &#8220;transgender&#8221; or LGBTQ, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weY8ycv-6dc">recently predicted</a> that he would be criticized by Republicans for being pro-transgender.
The Democrat is expected to face off against Rep. Byron Donalds, who was endorsed by President Donald Trump. Donalds has a large lead against GOP rivals including <a href="https://floridapolitics.com/archives/768484-woman-says-james-fishback-dated-her-while-she-was-underage-then-harassed-her-after-breakup/">James Fishback</a>, Lt. On the campaign trail, Democrat candidate James Talarico often describes his faith as “biblical Christianity.&#8221; But the Senate hopeful once credited Islamic mystics with shaping his faith just as much as Christian writers, audio unearthed by The Daily Wire reveals.
In a recent <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/01/us/politics/james-talarico-christian.html">interview</a> with The New York Times, Talarico asserted that his faith was rooted in “biblical Christianity.” During an appearance on The State of Belief podcast in April 2024 alongside Muslim state Rep. Salman Bhojani, Talarico praised Islam for shaping his religious beliefs. Those comments could come into play as debate heats up in Texas about Islam&#8217;s growing presence in the state. 
“I know personally that I&#8217;ve learned as much about my faith from Salman&#8217;s tradition, from the Islamic mystics, from poets like Rumi, as much as I have from Christian authors and Christian writers,” he said. “This kind of interfaith dialogue, it doesn&#8217;t water down your tradition, in fact it strengthens it, it brings out new flavors and new colors.”

Talarico later quoted the 13th-century Islamic mystic as saying “in every religion there is love, yet love has no religion.”
Talarico, looking to become the first Democrat to win statewide election in Texas in decades, has faced much scrutiny over his leftist version of Christianity and the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/at-james-talaricos-church-its-offensive-to-respect-gods-pronouns-but-abortions-ok">uber-woke</a> church he attends in Austin. That scrutiny comes as the legacy media speculated that Talarico could sway Christian voters who ordinarily vote Republican.
On the 2024 podcast, Talarico celebrated Bhojani’s election as the “true fruition of multi-racial, multicultural, multi-religious democracy” and “a threat to those who don&#8217;t believe in a pluralistic democracy” and “those who are pushing a sectarian exclusive Christian nationalist vision for our country.” He also said that “Texas is proud to be the home of more Muslim Americans than any other state in the union” and that advocating for the Ten Commandments to be displayed in classrooms was “deeply unchristian.”
The creep of Islamic ideology into Texas has been a hot issue over the last few years, with Governor Greg Abbott <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/not-welcome-in-our-state-texas-governor-designates-radical-muslim-groups-as-foreign-terrorists">designating</a> the Council on American-Islamic Relations as a foreign terrorist organization in November 2025. Abbott accused CAIR of attempting to impose Sharia law on the Lone Star State. State officials have also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/texas-says-its-halted-construction-of-muslim-centered-epic-city-outside-dallas">moved</a> to challenge planned Islamic cities, keep schools promoting Sharia law from <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/texas-bans-schools-tied-to-americas-adversaries-from-education-freedom-program">receiving</a> state dollars, and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/one-of-americas-most-iconic-symbols-now-islamic-the-new-history-fight">pushed</a> backs on efforts to brand the Alamo as an “Islamic building.” 
Talarico, who <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-audio-thats-blowing-a-hole-in-talaricos-christian-persona">describes</a> himself as a “Christian who hates Christianity,” has said he believes God is “nonbinary” and that Jesus was a “radical feminist.” During a recent commencement speech at Paul Quinn College, Talarico appeared indifferent to whether people believed in God or attended church. 
“I&#8217;m not asking you to join an organized religion. I&#8217;m asking you to join something bigger than yourself. Find a spiritual practice that works for you, whether it&#8217;s meditation or fasting, gardening, or bird watching, whether it&#8217;s in a church, or a temple, or a book club, or a neighborhood group, find a community that can help you touch the ground of your own being.”

A New York town is facing backlash from residents over a proposal to place an Islamic all-boys school in a Long Island residential neighborhood. 
Residents of the hamlet of Bay Shore raised concerns over a plan from the United American Muslim Association to convert a former Catholic school building into an Islamic boarding school for boys. Members of the neighborhood <a href="https://www.facebook.com/saxonsaysno/">group</a> “Saxon Says No” showed up in force to a zoning meeting Tuesday to voice their opposition to the school. 
The group says that the Town of Islip, which oversees the hamlet, would be bypassing zoning regulations if it approves the project without input from locals. 
“This appeal is about zoning, due process, and protecting a residential neighborhood. We respect every person&#8217;s constitutional right to worship,” the opposition group <a href="https://communitywatch.ai/the-appeal/">said</a>. “This appeal is not about religion — it is about whether the Town of Islip is properly applying its own zoning laws.”
Many residents believe that the proposed 120-student boarding school would bring increased traffic to the area as well as lead to groups of roving teenage boys running throughout the neighborhood. 
“The proposed use by the new property owner is far more intensive than what is appropriate for a quiet residential neighborhood,” Saxon Says No leader Kevin Colgan said during a meeting on the project, <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/07/24/us-news/long-island-residents-fume-over-all-boy-muslim-boarding-school-in-residential-neighborhood/">according</a> to The New York Post. 
“This is about protecting the integrity of our zoning laws — not opposing any individual or organization — zoning laws exist to preserve the character, integrity, and quality of life within our neighborhoods while ensuring that land uses are appropriate for their surroundings,” Colgan added.
The building being proposed for the school was sold to the United American Muslim Association for $5 million by the Roman Catholic Montfort Missionaries. It used to be a Catholic school, but has not been used for that purpose in decades. 
The New Jersey-based United American Muslim Association describes itself as an organization seeking to “provide permanent solutions” for Muslims in North America “primarily by providing appropriate places to worship and providing an Islamic education for the youth.”
One local, Anna Chan, said her family purchased a home in the neighborhood with the belief that it would remain a residential area. 
“When my family chose to purchase this home 10 years ago — we relied on the zoning protections when making one of the largest investments of our lives — a community of single-family homes where the zoning was intended to preserve its residential character,” she <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/07/24/us-news/long-island-residents-fume-over-all-boy-muslim-boarding-school-in-residential-neighborhood/">said</a>. 
Bay Shore resident Elizabeth Byrne argued that the school would completely reshape the neighborhood’s family-focused feel. 
&#8220;I just feel like it&#8217;s going to totally compromise the environment and the history that has been here for years,&#8221; she <a href="https://longisland.news12.com/2026/07/22/islip-town-to-hold-public-hearing-today-on-proposed-islamic-boarding-school-in-bay-shore/3W9QjN4ZmFuV115h2DgbLQ">said</a>. &#8220;I think it&#8217;s going to destroy it.&#8221;

Police in Wisconsin allowed a leftist agitator to hijack a press conference about an officer involved shooting and go on an unhinged rant against Zionism and colonialism while threatening to beat up other attendees. 
Self-described “community organizer” Carlos Lemar Dixon took over a Madison Police Department press conference on Thursday over the fatal shooting of Corey Ruiz to scream about imperialism. Ruiz, who had an extensive criminal history including 40 convictions, was shot Wednesday after <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/protesters-jump-on-race-narrative-after-video-captures-deadly-police-shooting?author=Zach+Jewell&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=0&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Protesters+Jump+On+Race+Narrative+After+Video+Captures+Deadly+Police+Shooting">police say</a> he pulled a knife on them during a confrontation caught on video. 
As Madison Police Chief John Patterson gave an update about the shooting, Dixon started shouting and walked up to the podium as the police chief stepped aside.
“You&#8217;re gonna say the same thing you all say every time a black body gets shot down in this city. This is a corrupt city. That&#8217;s right. Have no fear, the anti-Zionist is here,” Dixon said. 
Patterson stood by passively for over 12 minutes as Dixon screamed about imperialism, called the police racist, and threatened to beat up someone in the crowd. He said he wanted to give “zero power to Zionists, zero power to capitalists, zero power to colonialism.” 
“What you are doing right now in this city is continuing the disgusting nature of colonialism, the disgusting nature of imperialism. Look up the definition of imperialism. It&#8217;s all within the policies, which means when these police officers come down on the street and they decide that they want to take the life of another brown body there is no oversight for that,” Dixon said. 
As police officials watched, Dixon said he wanted to know if “those pigs” were going to jail, referring to the officers involved in the shooting. Later, when someone in the crowd pushed back, he threatened, “I’ll beat your ass in front of the police.” 
A woman who accompanied Dixon and held a sign reading, “Corrupt cops deserve to die too!” screamed at another person in the crowd, “You’re acting like a f*cking c**n.” 
Dixon, an independent write-in candidate for Wisconsin governor, has a history of incendiary rhetoric. After he got in trouble in May for filming himself pulling out yard signs of Democratic candidates, he <a href="https://bluewaterhealthyliving.com/news/national-news/wisconsin/candidate-films-himself-stealing-francesca-hong-ryan-clancy-signs/">said</a> “politician[s] should be grateful that all I want is yard signs and not their heads.”
Ruiz had 40 criminal convictions between 2009 and 2025 including for robbery by force, strangulation, drug possession, vehicle theft and battery of a public safety worker, resisting law enforcement, and drug paraphernalia, <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/madison-wisconsin-police-shooting-corey-ruiz-rcna588925">according</a> to NBC News. 
Graphic footage of Ruiz being shot was captured by a bystander. The footage shows three Madison police officers wrestle a man in the street and try to detain him. A fourth officer jumped into the scuffle and drew her taser as an officer was heard yelling, “He’s got a knife, he’s got a knife!” as the suspect pulled out a fixed-blade knife and injured one of the officers during the scuffle, Patterson said.
The shooting of the career criminal drew large protests in Madison as activists claimed police were racist and the shooting was not justified. A criminal homicide investigation was launched after the shooting.

An illegal immigrant will spend 20 years in prison after admitting to murdering a beloved Nashville restaurant owner. 
Ulises Martinez, a 26-year-old illegal immigrant from Mexico, pleaded <a href="https://sci.ccc.nashville.gov/Search/CriminalHistory?P_CASE_IDENTIFIER=ULISES%5EMARTINEZ%5E09131999%5E624024">guilty</a> on Wednesday to second-degree murder after he slammed his truck into 42-year-old Matt Carney during an attempted robbery two years ago. The case drew national attention as President Donald Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-decries-vicious-illegal-immigrant-suspected-of-murdering-nashville-restaurant-owner?author=Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Trump+Decries+%E2%80%98Vicious%E2%80%99+Illegal+Immigrant+Suspected+Of+Murdering+Nashville+Restaurant+Owner">pointed to it</a> as an example of a migrant crime wave during his 2024 presidential campaign.
The incident took place on June 19, 2024, outside of Smokin Thighs, a popular Nashville chicken restaurant owned and operated by Carney that began as a food truck. Carney was locking up his restaurant when he walked outside to find two men stealing tools from his truck. After Carney confronted them, the men, both illegal immigrants, rammed into Carney with their truck, throwing him onto the sidewalk, before taking off. 
Olivia Lehing, who witnessed the scene, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/illegal-immigrant-confesses-to-killing-nashville-man-in-hit-and-run">said</a> she was driving when she saw a truck send a body “into the air” and then drive “very fast” away from the scene
Carney died from injuries sustained during the incident several weeks later. Martinez was on the run for several weeks before he was arrested on July 18, hiding out in a Nashville motel. 
Smokin Thighs closed down in October 2024 after almost ten years in business. 
“Places like this do not just exist everywhere and in every neighborhood,” former Smokin Thighs manager Landon Allen <a href="https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/crime/2026/07/22/nashville-smokin-thighs-matthew-carney-murder-guilty-sentence">told</a> The Tennessean. “When he was taken from us, it all died with him.”
In addition to the murder charge, Martinez pleaded guilty to evidence tampering and two counts of theft. Martinez, who required an interpreter throughout the proceedings, is expected to be deported after serving the 20-year sentence. Carney’s widow reportedly supported the plea deal. 
Martinez’s immigration status was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/illegal-immigrant-accused-of-killing-nashville-restaurant-owner-had-previous-felony-charges-dismissed">first reported</a> by The Daily Wire, with ICE saying that he unlawfully entered the country at an unknown date and location. The other man in the vehicle with Martinez, 31-year-old Adrian Diaz-Aguirre, had previous criminal convictions and has been deported four times.

Nashville Judge Jim Todd dismissed all three charges during a preliminary hearing in March 2024, claiming police had failed to show probable cause.

“Look at what’s happening to our cities. Our cities are being overrun,” Trump said. “On July 4th, a 42-year-old Nashville man died after he tried to stop an illegal alien from stealing tools out of his truck. The illegal alien did a number on this man that nobody could even believe. The police officers said [it was] one of the most vicious crimes they’ve ever seen.”

House Republicans urged the Justice Department to prosecute former special counsel Jack Smith after new revelations that his team obtained text messages from dozens of members of Congress as part of their investigation into President Donald Trump. 
House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) sent a <a href="https://judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/republicans-judiciary.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/2026-07-22-jdj-to-doj-blanche-re-smith-referral.pdf">criminal referral</a> Wednesday to acting Attorney General Todd Blanche accusing Smith of lying to lawmakers about the text messages. Documents released last week by Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jack-smith-surveilled-dozens-of-members-of-congress-as-part-of-trump-investigation">show</a> that Smith’s investigative team accessed text messages involving 44 members of Congress, including both Republicans and Democrats, during their investigation into the 2020 election. 
“Mr. Smith and the Biden-Harris DOJ barely considered the Constitution as they seized these records of Congressional Republicans — and to the extent that they did, subject matter experts within DOJ warned that their subpoenas might be unconstitutional,” Jordan wrote to Blanche
Reacting to the news of the criminal referral, Trump questioned on Truth Social, “Justice at last???”
The records appear to indicate that Smith’s team bypassed a Justice Department “Filter Team” that had been established to review potentially privileged communications before investigators could access them.
Jordan said that the revelations appear to conflict with what Smith said during a December 2025 deposition when he told lawmakers that he did not request to see the content of lawmakers&#8217; text messages. Smith claimed he only asked for data on information about the timing and where the texts were going. Jordan said that Smith could be prosecuted for making false statements to Congress based on this testimony. 
“In light of the new information detailing that Mr. Smith’s team did have access to content of Members’ text messages and the fact that Mr. Smith made false statements regarding this information during his deposition, suggests that he willingly and knowingly made false representations to the Committee,&#8221; Jordan said. 
Smith has <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5984841-jordan-recommends-jack-smith-charges/?email=f6b514743a4c4be03b373e82e3096223711c5295&amp;emaila=495f8e0f1d79a16dce6ab880852eca0d&amp;emailb=6c5fed0ae73f12e322cea84f2bd830b09416e6d9633edaee8bac92b31c351a88&amp;utm_source=Sailthru&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=7.22.26%20CT%20Breaking-Jordan-Smith">disputed</a> accusations he lied to lawmakers, with his lawyers saying that he was unimpeachably truthful” and accused Jordan of pushing an “unprecedented theory that Mr. Smith provided false testimony not because of what he said, but because of what he did not say.” 
Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), the ranking member of the Judiciary Committee, argued that Smith was forthcoming because the texts involving the 44 lawmakers were obtained through requests to the National Archives, not subpoenas. He said that Jordan went after Smith “for not reading the minds of congressional investigators and for not volunteering information they didn&#8217;t ask for.”
