The latest War Department strikes targeting drug boats destroyed three vessels and left multiple suspected smugglers alive.
U.S. Southern Command said Wednesday that it had conducted kinetic strikes targeting “three narco-trafficking vessels traveling as a convoy.” All three had been destroyed the day before, alongside three alleged &#8220;narco-terrorists.&#8221;
“These vessels were operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations in international waters,&#8221; Southern Command said on X. &#8220;Intelligence confirmed the vessels were transiting along known narco-trafficking routes and had transferred narcotics between the three vessels prior to the strikes.”

“Three narco-terrorists aboard the first vessel were killed in the first engagement. The remaining narco-terrorists abandoned the other two vessels, jumping overboard and distancing themselves before follow-on engagements sank their respective vessels,” Southern Command added. 
After the strikes, Southern Command said it notified the Coast Guard to begin a search-and-rescue operation. The Coast Guard <a href="https://x.com/USCGPACAREA/status/2006570397580538098">confirmed</a> it was sending resources to help mariners in distress in the Pacific Ocean after notice from the War Department. 
American officials <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/alleged-drug-smugglers-jumped-overboard-latest-boat-strikes-pacific-us-military/">told</a> CBS News that there were approximately eight survivors of the strikes and that they occurred in the Eastern Pacific.

Since the Trump administration began targeting alleged drug boats in September, more than 100 suspected drug traffickers have been killed in strikes targeting more than 30 boats. Previous survivors have been repatriated to their home countries and referred for drug trafficking prosecution. 
In an escalation, American forces last week took out a drug facility at a Venezuelan port allegedly used to load narcotics onto smuggling vessels.
“There was a major explosion in the dock area where they load the boats up with drugs,” Trump said Monday. “We hit all the boats, and now we hit the area… it’s the implementation area. That’s where they implement, and that is no longer around.”

Small Business Administration Administrator Kelly Loeffler said Thursday that nearly 7,000 people in Minnesota could face prosecution over potentially fraudulent federal loans taken during the COVID pandemic. 
Loeffler said her team had identified around $400 million in loans that may have been fraudulently obtained through the Paycheck Protection Program and the Economic Injury Disaster Loan program. As a result, 6,900 borrowers in Minnesota were suspended from participating in SBA loan programs and could face further punishment. 
“Over the last week, SBA has reviewed thousands of potentially fraudulent pandemic-era PPP and EIDL loans approved in Minnesota,” Loeffler <a href="https://x.com/SBA_Kelly/status/2006893291241980325">posted</a> on X. “Today, our agency took action to suspend 6,900 Minnesota borrowers amid suspected fraudulent activity. In total, these borrowers were approved for 7,900 PPP and EIDL loans worth approximately $400M.”
She added that some individuals could be referred for federal prosecution. 
“These individuals will be banned from all SBA loan programs, including disaster loans, going forward. We will also refer every case, where appropriate, to federal law enforcement for prosecution and repayment,” she said. “After years, the American people will finally begin to see the criminals who stole from law-abiding taxpayers held accountable — and this is just the first state.”
Loeffler’s announcement comes as Minnesota faces a flurry of federal probes into alleged widespread fraud at purported daycare centers. In response, the Department of Health and Human Services <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-admin-freezes-all-child-care-payments-to-minnesota-amid-daycare-fraud-scandal">froze</a> all child care payments to the state on Tuesday. At the same time, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi said more fraud prosecutions would follow. 
The Trump administration is also looking into an alleged scheme where parents have their child falsely diagnosed with autism at clinics where no such evaluations are performed. Much of the investigation has focused on the Somali immigrant community in the state, with 85 of the 98 people charged by the feds in fraud cases being of Somali descent.

Reports have found COVID-era relief efforts rife with fraud. <a href="https://www.oversight.gov/sites/default/files/documents/reports/2023-06/SBA-OIG-Report-23-09.pdf">According</a> to the Small Business Administration Inspector General, at least $200 billion in potentially fraudulent handouts were disbursed, representing approximately 17% of all funds distributed through the PPP and EIDL programs. 
“The allure of ‘easy money’ in this pay and chase environment attracted an overwhelming number of fraudsters to the programs. [The inspector general’s] continuing reviews pertaining to oversight of SBA’s pandemic response have identified multiple weaknesses in controls that allowed fraudsters to take advantage of the economic crisis and divert funding intended for deserving, eligible American small business owners,” an inspector general report from June 2023 found.

President Donald Trump said that the United States would come to the “rescue” if Iranian forces began shooting protesters, as demonstrations against the regime continued for a sixth consecutive day.  
Sparked by economic unrest, protests first broke out last weekend in Tehran with groups chanting “death to the dictator” and “freedom.” Seven people, including protesters and government forces, have been killed so far, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-says-us-intervene-iran-starts-killing-protesters-locked-loaded" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to reports. 
“If Iran shots [sic] and violently kills peaceful protesters, which is their custom, the United States of America will come to their rescue,” Trump posted on Truth Social early Friday morning. “We are locked and loaded and ready to go. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
Trump&#8217;s warning comes as he has continued to take an aggressive approach to Iran, saying earlier this week that he would support more Israeli military strikes on the country if Tehran continues to develop ballistic missiles or pursue nuclear capabilities.
In response to Trump’s post, the secretary of Iran&#8217;s Supreme National Security Council said any intervention by America would exacerbate instability in the area while accusing the United States and Israel of encouraging the disorder. 
&#8220;With the statements by Israeli officials and Donald Trump, what has been going on behind the scenes is now clear. Much of the violence has occurred in Western Iran, where a local official promised that protesters would be treated &#8220;decisively and without leniency,&#8221; Reuters <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/trump-threatens-iran-over-protest-deaths-unrest-flares-2026-01-02/">reported</a>. Dozens of protesters, including women and children, have been arrested. 
On Thursday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said the protests were the result of the government&#8217;s failure to address skyrocketing inflation and widespread economic anxiety. 
&#8220;We are to blame&#8230; Do not look for America or anyone else to blame. We must serve properly so that people are satisfied with us&#8230;. It is us who have to find a solution to these problems,&#8221; he said, Reuters reported. 
Iran’s currency has reportedly dropped to 1.42 million to the dollar, a loss of more than 56% over six months, fueling soaring inflation and driving food prices up 72% from last year.

Unborn babies continue to be aborted at a higher rate across the United States despite the overturning of Roe v. Wade and the implementation of stronger pro-life laws, according to new data.
Data released in December by the pro-abortion Society of Family Planning <a href="https://societyfp.org/research/wecount/wecount-june-2025-data/">revealed</a> that the number of monthly abortions continued to increase in 2025 from 2024, which was itself an increase from 2023. Much of the increase has been fueled by the widespread mailing of abortion drugs across the country, even in states with “abortion bans” in place. 
The numbers show that the battle for pro-lifers has only begun as the ubiquitous mailing of mifepristone makes ending the life of an unborn child easier than ever before. 
To address the continued increase, many pro-life advocates <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pro-life-leaders-urge-trump-to-fight-attacks-on-the-unborn-coming-from-inside-his-administration?author=Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Pro-Life+Leaders+Urge+Trump+To+Fight+%E2%80%98Attacks+On+The+Unborn%E2%80%99+Coming+From+Inside+His+Administration">have urged</a> the Trump administration to roll back Biden-era restrictions that allowed abortion pills to be sent through the mail with no in-person doctor visits. Others have shifted their efforts to changing cultural attitudes toward abortion. The data produced by the Society for Family Planning <a href="https://societyfp.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/WeCount-Report-10-June-2025-data.pdf">estimated</a> that through June 2025, there were 98,630 babies aborted every month. That was an increase from the monthly rates of 2024 (95,250), 2023 (88,180), and 2022 (79,620). The group estimated that 27% of the abortions for the available 2025 data were through telehealth, meaning they were facilitated by abortion pills sent through the mail. 
Telehealth abortions were largely taking place in the 13 states with the strongest pro-life laws. In these states, nearly all abortions are illegal with a few very limited exceptions, yet the number of abortions facilitated by mail increased from 2023 to 2024. 
Medication abortions, which are the most common abortion method, are facilitated by a woman taking mifepristone and misoprostol. After a pregnant woman takes mifepristone, the unborn child is cut off from the nutrients it needs to survive and is effectively starved to death. Misoprostol is then taken to induce labor and expel the deceased baby from the mother. 
In Louisiana, for example, there were 7,530 pill abortions in 2024 compared to 2,480 in 2023. In Texas, there were an estimated 35,870 abortions by pill in 2024 compared to 12,420 in 2023. These abortions took place despite both states having laws in place banning medication abortions. 
Both Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill have launched efforts to go after individuals in states like New York who they say have sent abortion pills into their states. Their efforts have been met with limited success as many deep blue states have passed “shield laws” to give immunity to leftist activists who mail pills into red states. 
The shield laws have proven to be a major problem for pro-life states, with about 55% of all telehealth abortions being facilitated under them, according to the data. In June 2025, about 14,770 abortions were being facilitated per month under shield laws. At the same time, medication abortion went up in all the states with bans on medication abortions in 2024.

The numbers produced by the Society for Family Planning also don&#8217;t include abortions not facilitated through the “formal health care system,” meaning there are likely many being missed. As The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/how-leftist-networks-flood-red-states-with-risky-abortion-pills-with-no-consequences">previously reported</a>, shady websites run by leftist activists have been mailing pills into states with no age verification or prescription requirements. 
Doug Truax, the founder of the conservative organization Restoration of America, told The Daily Wire that he was not surprised to see the numbers put out by the Society of Family Planning. 
“So now you have all these states that have banned abortion, and all these states have these rabid abortionists in them, and these abortionists are making sure they abort babies in the states where it&#8217;s banned,” he said. 
“You got abortionists in California and New York and Massachusetts, and they’re killing babies in Alabama and Texas, and everyplace else where it&#8217;s banned. And that&#8217;s why the number&#8217;s going up right now,” he added, noting that the abortion pill allowed anybody’s bathroom to be turned into an “abortion clinic.” 
Truax said that he believes many pro-lifers don’t know the full scope of the problem with the abortion pills. He is one of those arguing that the Trump administration should reinstate the in-person requirements for the mailing of the abortion pill, saying that this would significantly curb the problem. He believes it could pose a political problem for the administration if pro-lifers become convinced that no action will be taken on the abortion pill. 
The requirements were first lifted by the Biden administration as a COVID-era measure, but have yet to be reversed. Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America is another organization pushing the Trump administration to take action to end the mail-order abortion guidelines. 
They have called for the firing of FDA Commissioner Marty Makary over the alleged slow-walking of a study on the dangers of the abortion pill. Pro-lifers were also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pro-lifers-demand-answers-from-trump-admin-after-shocking-abortion-pill-approval">shocked</a> in September after the FDA approved another generic form of mifepristone, making the abortion drug more readily available. 
“I would like to believe that the number of abortions have decreased since the state started enacting pro-life laws, but every data point that we have, essentially, that&#8217;s national in scope or multiple states, is showing that&#8217;s not the case, and that this mail order abortion policy from Joe Biden is responsible for increasing the number of abortions in the U.S,” SBA Pro-Life America Communications Director Kelsey Pritchard told The Daily Wire. 
Pritchard said that the FDA’s failure to reverse the Biden-era regulations was subverting state laws banning medication abortions. 
“Essentially, the Biden rule enables Gavin Newsom, Kathy Hochul, JD Pritzker, all of these blue states, to undermine pro-life laws by allowing their abortionists to mail in these pills that are not only killing the babies, but putting women in hospitals and enabling abusers to poison and coerce women,” she said. 
Already, multiple Republican-led states have sued the FDA over the rule, arguing that it interferes with their efforts to protect the unborn. In December 2025, Florida and Texas filed a suit challenging the FDA, saying that its “approval and deregulation of abortion drugs have placed women and girls in harm&#8217;s way.”
Republicans in Congress have also called for a repeal of the Biden rules, with 175 House Republicans writing a letter to yank the regulations and 51 Senate Republicans urging the FDA to reconsider its approval of the generic abortion drug. 
When asked whether there would be a rollback on the mailing of abortion pills in 2026, the FDA told The Daily Wire it cannot comment on “future or potential policy decisions.” 
At the state level, some Republican lawmakers from Georgia to North Dakota to Missouri introduced “equal protection” bills in 2025 that would criminalize abortion not only for the abortionist, but anyone involved in the abortion, including the mother. They believe that these kinds of bills would be more effective at eliminating abortion and provide equal protection to unborn babies. 
“Many red states with so-called abortion bans are seeing higher abortion levels because their bans are no bans at all,” Bradley Pierce, a constitutional lawyer and president of the Foundation to Abolish Abortion, told The Daily Wire. “All of these so-called bans have explicit loopholes allowing women to order, possess, and take abortion pills. Because there is no law prohibiting these self-induced abortions, and in fact they are protected by law, we are witnessing the current increase even in states that shut down their abortion facilities.”
Pierce said that unborn babies should receive the same protection that any other human being receives under the law. 
“We need equal protection of the laws for preborn babies, meaning that the same homicide laws protecting the lives of born people are extended to protect preborn people as well,” he said. “Without this standard, preborn image-bearers of God will remain unprotected, even in the most conservative states in our country.”
While a minority position among elected officials, Pierce noted that in 2025, there were 17 equal protection bills across 15 states sponsored by 123 lawmakers across the country, and a record number of hearings and votes on the legislation.
Aside from the problem of mail-order abortions, pro-lifers will also have to grapple with the increasing number of travel abortions. Tens of thousands of women have traveled out of their home state for abortions over the last few years. According to the data, women traveling out of states for abortions declined for the most part across the thirteen states with the strongest pro-life laws from 2023 to 2024, but the number was still significant.

The data is clear that many Americans are still able to access abortion with relative ease despite the fall of Roe. To address cultural attitudes toward abortion, Senator Josh Hawley and his wife, Erin, a constitutional lawyer, created a nonprofit called the <a href="https://lovelifeinitiative.org/about/">Love Life Initiative</a>. The group will run pro-family national ad campaigns to encourage Americans to raise families and defend life at all stages of development. The group will also promote pro-life ballot campaigns and fight against pro-abortion ballot petitions.
“We believe there needs to be a strong voice advocating for life and making it easier to start a family,” Senator Hawley said. “That is fundamental to who we are as Americans and the future of our country. And it is how we will be judged as a society. This is a generational project, not just about the next election cycle.”

Nearly 250 years ago, hundreds of Patriot soldiers were killed or wounded fighting in the pine woods of Camden, South Carolina, in one of the worst defeats for the colonists during the Revolutionary War. Today, one organization is working to identify the remains of those who fell fighting for liberty and share their stories with the country. 
Using DNA sequencing, the <a href="https://www.historiccamden.org">Historic Camden Foundation</a> is working to identify the remains of 12 of the Patriot soldiers killed during the August 16, 1780, battle. The remains of the 12 were recently discovered during archeological excavations at the battlefield. In 2023, they <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/12-patriot-soldiers-given-proper-funeral-243-years-after-revolutionary-battle-of-camden-boys-only-in-age">were given</a> a proper funeral and military honors, but not before DNA samples were saved from teeth and a bone at the back of the skull. 
So far, the Historic Camden Foundation has secured funds for DNA sequencing of two of the fallen Patriots. Stacey Ferguson, the deputy director of the organization, told The Daily Wire that they plan to continue their work until they have sequenced all of the DNA and narrowed down the details of the soldiers. 
“This is an ongoing project. We had the funds available to run those first two soldiers, but we have every intention of continuing on the work with the other soldiers,” she said. “We may or may not get to a point where we can actually put an exact name on the remains, but it’s very possible. We&#8217;ve really narrowed it way down.”
Figuring out who the soldiers were is “the oldest John Doe case in the country that we know of based on what&#8217;s in public record,” Ferguson said. 
One of the soldiers they have determined is a teenage male between the ages of 14 and 18 from Maryland. He was buried alongside other soldiers in a mass grave at Camden and is believed to have been from Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
The other soldier is an adult male over the age of 20 from the Jamestown, Virginia area. Researchers believe he was related to the original Jamestown settlers and even shares some DNA with Pocahontas. He was likely an artilleryman based on where he fell in the battle. 
The two heroes could have over 20,000 living relatives, according to Ferguson. Matching them to an exact name is a more difficult task because muster rolls from that time often were not the most accurate.

The battle of Camden was a disaster for the Americans, as the Patriot forces under Major General Horatio Gates clashed with British and Loyalist forces under General Charles Lord Cornwallis. An undisciplined American army had 1,900 casualties to the British’s 324. 
However, the battle did pave the way for the more competent Rhode Islander Nathanael Greene, who would go on to earn the moniker “the savior of the South.” Greene orchestrated the great patriot victory at Cowpens soon after the disaster at Camden, which followed on the heels of a great patriot victory at King’s Mountain.
Ferguson said she hopes their work to remember the fallen of Camden will help Americans identify more with their past. 
“It feels like ancient history to most Americans,” she said. “These soldiers that fought and died for their freedom, but being able to say, ‘you are related to this soldier, who fought and died at the battle of Camden,’ really makes that story personal for a lot of people.”

A Colorado hospital has been referred for a federal investigation over its “failure” to comply with standards on transgender medical procedures for children, the Department of Health and Human Services announced Tuesday. 
HHS General Counsel Mike Stuart <a href="https://x.com/HHSGCMikeStuart/status/2006110061114851333">said</a> that he had referred the Children’s Hospital Colorado to the department’s inspector general over its response to Trump administration guidance on transgender procedures for minors. The hospital has been engaged in a separate legal dispute with the Justice Department over data requested by the Trump administration related to its administration of such procedures. 
Stuart said he referred the hospital for “failure to meet recognized standards of health care” set forth by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in a “declaration that sex-rejecting procedures for children and adolescents are neither safe nor effective.”
HHS “will always take every possible action to ensure children all across the nation are safe and protected,” Stuart added. 
The referral comes as the hospital seeks to quash a subpoena issued by the Justice Department in July demanding records concerning gender-related treatments, including insurance claims, billing records, internal guidance, any documents on alternative billing codes for gender dysphoria, and information on kids who were prescribed puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones. The subpoena was sent to more than 20 doctors and hospitals that performed transgender medical procedures on children.
The Justice Department is investigating “whether the promotion, marketing, labeling, sale, and distribution of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to treat gender dysphoria and related disorders could violate the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act,” <a href="https://dw-wp-production.imgix.net/2025/12/31.pdf">according</a> to court documents. 
The hospital has so far refused to produce documents, stating that it will not release private medical information.

Earlier this month, HHS <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-admin-to-cut-funding-from-all-hospitals-that-perform-trans-procedures-on-kids">posted</a> rules that will bar hospitals that offer transgender procedures to minors from participating in Medicare and Medicaid programs. The rules will also prohibit federal funding of Medicaid’s Children’s Health Insurance Program from going toward transgender medical procedures on those under 19 years of age. 
“Sex-rejecting procedures for children and adolescents are neither safe nor effective as a treatment modality for gender dysphoria, gender incongruence, or other related disorders in minors, and therefore, fail to meet professional recognized standards of health care,” Kennedy <a href="https://www.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/declaration-pediatric-sex-rejecting-procedures.pdf">wrote</a> in a public health declaration.

The suit alleges that HHS violated the Administrative Procedure Act and the Medicare and Medicaid statutes by moving to cut hospital funding.

President Donald Trump vetoed legislation on Tuesday that would have sent infrastructure funding to a Florida-based American Indian tribe currently suing to shut down Alligator Alcatraz.
In one of the first vetoes of his second term, Trump <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/2025/12/congressional-bill-h-r-504-vetoed/">rejected</a> the Miccosukee Reserved Area Amendments Act, citing the tribe&#8217;s opposition to his immigration policies and the cost of the legislation. The bill would have expanded the portion of Everglades National Park reserved for the Miccosukee Tribe and required the Department of the Interior to provide anti-flooding infrastructure for the added land. 
“My Administration is committed to preventing American taxpayers from funding projects for special interests, especially those that are unaligned with my Administration’s policy of removing violent criminal illegal aliens from the country,” Trump wrote in his veto message. “Ending the massive cost of taxpayer handouts and restoring fiscal sanity is vital to economic growth and the fiscal health of the Nation.”
Earlier this year, the Miccosukee Tribe sued the Trump administration and the state of Florida over the opening of Alligator Alcatraz, an illegal immigrant detention center in the Everglades. In September, a federal appeals court rejected the tribe’s request for a preliminary injunction to shut down the facility. 
The <a href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/504/text" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Miccosukee Reserved Area Amendments Act</a> was passed earlier this year by unanimous consent in the Senate and by voice vote in the House. It was introduced by Florida Republican Carlos Gimenez. 
The measure would have expanded the Miccosukee Reserved Area to include an area known as the “Osceola Camp” and required the federal government to protect the land from flooding. According to Trump, the Miccosukee have already established a residential community at Osceola Camp.
The Biden administration developed a plan to invest up to $14 million in infrastructure in the area, but it never went into effect. 
“But despite seeking funding and special treatment from the Federal Government, the Miccosukee Tribe has actively sought to obstruct reasonable immigration policies that the American people decisively voted for when I was elected,” Trump wrote. This principle carries especially heavy weight here; it is not the Federal Government’s responsibility to pay to fix problems in an area that the Tribe has never been authorized to occupy.”

Trump also <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/2025/12/congressional-bill-h-r-131-vetoed/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">vetoed</a> a bill on Tuesday that would have continued federal funding for the Arkansas Valley Conduit, a pipeline intended to provide water to southeastern Colorado. Trump said that the project had become too expensive and was too local in scope. 
“Enough is enough,” Trump wrote. “My administration is committed to preventing American taxpayers from funding expensive and unreliable policies. Ending the massive cost of taxpayer handouts and restoring fiscal sanity is vital to economic growth and the fiscal health of the Nation.”
The two bills were Trump&#8217;s first vetoes of his second term.

The 28-year-old transgender-identifying woman who murdered six people at a Christian school in Nashville in March 2023 hated white people and religion, portions of her newly released writings reveal. 
The FBI <a href="https://vault.fbi.gov/nashville-covenant-school-shooting/nashville-covenant-school-shooting-part-06/view">posted</a> more of the disturbing ramblings of The Covenant School attacker on December 22, including notes that suggest she purchased the weapon used in the killings using federal financial aid. The writings were published after a judge ordered the agency to release documents related to the attack. 
The latest release includes 230 pages of the shooter’s notes and plans leading up to the mass murder. On March 27, 2023, she entered the school and killed three young children and three adults before she was fatally shot by Nashville police officers. 
Among the pages published by the FBI, the attacker listed “advantages” of targeting The Covenant School, where she had attended for a few years. She noted that the school was a “predominantly white school (white pple I hate)” and that it was a “Christian school (hate religion).”
The writings also reveal that the attacker considered targeting a middle school in the Nashville area, but leaned against it because a higher percentage of black students were enrolled there. 
The shooter wrote that school would be in line with her goals because a “massacre” there would be “more notorious/prolific.” Still, she said the “disadvantages” were that it was a “predominantly black school (black people I love),” adding that it would put “black people in dispair + suffering (I don’t want to cause that).” 
Also in the writings, included references that she appeared to use student loan money to purchase the gun used in the attack. In a section of the writings labeled “Account Savings Record,” she listed off various sources of income, including “FASFA [sic] grant checks started at $2,050.86,” followed by entries like “$2,656.87 (x3 checks from Nossi)” and “+$530.00 (x1 check Nossi) ($3,186.87).”
The shooter appeared to be referencing checks from her time at Nossi College of Art and Design in Nashville and from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Those entries followed a list of gun and ammo expenses. The attacker’s parents previously told investigators that she bought the firearm she used in the massacre with Pell Grant funds. 
Most of the newly released pages focus on different types of guns, ammunition, and local gun stores and ranges. Receipts included indicate that just months before the attack, she took several gun classes at the Royal Range in Nashville. She also expounded on “Biden’s horrible gun plans.&#8221; 
The writings also included many references to previous mass shooters and noted the number of victims in each incident.

Instead, the department said that she wanted to gain notoriety.

This final report didn’t appear to fully take into account the attacker’s transgender identity, which dominated her life.
In journal entries previously published by The Daily Wire, she wrote just weeks before the deadly shooting about her fantasy of having an “imaginary penis” and said that it was a “f***ing curse” that she was born a woman.
“I want to know what that’s like, but I never will because I was damned to be born this way,” she wrote in the journal of her desire to have a penis. “I swear to f*** I hate it so goddamned much. It’s a f***ing curse.”

The U.S. military said Tuesday that it killed or captured nearly 25 ISIS operatives during a nine-day counterterrorism operation in Syria following an attack earlier this month that left two American troops dead.
U.S. Central Command said seven terrorists were killed and more than a dozen more were captured during 11 missions in Syria from December 20-29. Those missions were launched a day after the United States and Jordan <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hegseth-launches-strikes-of-vengeance-in-syria-after-american-troops-killed-by-isis?author=Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=13&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Hegseth+Launches+Strikes+Of+%E2%80%98Vengeance%E2%80%99+In+Syria+After+American+Troops+Killed+By+ISIS">conducted</a> strikes on more than 70 ISIS targets in Syria. 
“We will not relent,” said Admiral Brad Cooper, the head of Central Command. “We are steadfast in commitment to working with regional partners to root out the ISIS threat posed to U.S. and regional security.”
In addition to taking out the ISIS operatives, American and partner forces destroyed four ISIS weapons caches, Central Command said. The strikes conducted on December 19 by fighter jets, attack helicopters, and artillery targeted ISIS infrastructure and weapons sites in central Syria. 
“Continuing to hunt down terrorist operatives, eliminate ISIS networks, and work with partners to prevent an ISIS resurgence makes America, the region, and the world safer,” said Cooper.
The strikes were launched in retaliation for an ISIS attack on December 13 that killed 29-year-old Sgt. Nate Howard and 25-year-old Sgt. Edgar Torres-Tovar. An American interpreter named Ayad Mansoor Sakat was also killed in the attack. Both Howard and Torres were members of the Iowa National Guard. 
“As we said directly following the savage attack, if you target Americans — anywhere in the world — you will spend the rest of your brief, anxious life knowing the United States will hunt you, find you, and ruthlessly kill you,” War Secretary Pete Hegseth said, announcing the strikes.

According to Central Command, ISIS inspired at least 11 plots or attacks in the United States in 2025. Over the course of the year, American and partner forces have killed more than 20 terrorists and detained more than 300 in Syria.
On Monday, the Justice Department unsealed records showing that a 21-year-old man named John Michael Garza had been charged in Texas for providing bomb components and money to individuals he believed were affiliated with ISIS. Garza allegedly told law enforcement he believed in ISIS ideology and made several cryptocurrency payments he believed were going to fund weapons for the terrorist group.

The U.S. military destroyed another suspected drug-smuggling vessel in the Eastern Pacific on Monday, continuing a crackdown on transnational crime at sea.
U.S. Southern Command said the strike was authorized by War Secretary Pete Hegseth and targeted a boat operated by a U.S.-designated terrorist organization in international waters.
“Intelligence confirmed the vessel was transiting along known narco-trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations. Two male narco-terrorists were killed. No U.S. military forces were harmed,” Southern Command posted on X, sharing a video of the strike.

The strike was part of Joint Task Force Southern Spear, a counter-narcotics operation to disrupt drug trafficking in the Western Hemisphere. The initiative has so far taken out thirty boats carrying at least 106 suspected narco-terrorists. 
Southern Command’s announcement came as President Donald Trump said American forces had taken out a drug facility at a Venezuelan port allegedly used to load narcotics onto smuggling vessels.
“There was a major explosion in the dock area where they load the boats up with drugs,” Trump said Monday.  “We hit all the boats, and now we hit the area… it’s the implementation area. That’s where they implement, and that is no longer around.&#8221;

No one was killed.  
Last week, the Trump administration began deploying a large number of special operations aircraft, troops, and military equipment to the southern Caribbean as part of its pressure campaign against Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro.

In 2016, then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said during an MSNBC town hall that there should be “some form of punishment” for women who chose to abort their unborn children.
His comments erupted a firestorm of controversy among both pro-abortion and pro-life advocates, prompting a rapid backtrack. March For Life President Jeanne Mancini said Trump’s comments were “out of touch” and that “no pro-lifer would ever want to punish a woman who has chosen abortion,” while National Right to Life released an equally critical statement.
Though Trump quickly softened his position, some Republicans and conservative activists, increasingly emboldened by the end of Roe v. Wade and the rise of so-called “self-managed” abortions, are looking to criminalize abortion for anyone involved — including the woman.
They believe that criminalizing abortion will be an effective deterrent to the onslaught of illegal abortion pills being mailed across the country into states where medication abortion is supposed to be illegal. And despite some efforts by a few Republican attorneys general to target those sending abortion pills across the country, abortion pill activists continue to receive glowing <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/09/health/a-day-with-one-abortion-pill-prescriber.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">profiles</a> in legacy outlets like The New York Times and The Guardian.
While this position is still a minority among elected Republicans, it is gaining increasing national attention from left-leaning media outlets, who portray those who support criminalization as extreme. Advocates of criminalization often clash with traditional pro-life groups, who say that criminalization will drive more women to underground abortions and lead them to stop turning to crisis pregnancy centers for help.
This year, the debate has played out across the country — from North Dakota to Georgia, from Texas to Missouri — where Republican lawmakers have proposed “equal protection” bills that would criminalize abortion. According to the Foundation to Abolish Abortion, 16 criminalization bills have been introduced across 14 states so far this year, with support from 122 Republican lawmakers.
Those bills received four committee hearings, three committee votes, and one floor vote.
In February, a North Dakota proposal that would have expanded the current homicide law to encompass anyone who ends the life of an unborn child was voted down on the Republican-dominated House floor. The bill, <a href="https://ndlegis.gov/assembly/69-2025/regular/documents/25-0415-05000.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">HB 1373</a>, would have amended the definition of “human being” in the homicide code to include an “individual living human child before birth from the beginning of biological development at the moment of fertilization upon the fusion of a human spermatozoon with a human ovum.”
As could be expected, <a href="https://www.weareplannedparenthoodaction.org/a/reject-hb-1373" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Planned Parenthood</a> and the <a href="https://www.aclund.org/en/legislation/house-bill-1373" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ACLU</a> vigorously lobbied against the bill. But it also divided pro-life groups.
During a committee hearing, Republican Rep. Lori Van Winkle, the author of the legislation, <a href="https://ndlegis.gov/assembly/69-2025/testimony/HHUMSER-1373-20250205-35286-F-VANWINKLE_LORI.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> that it would have made it clear in North Dakota law that unborn children are human and would “close a loophole that has allowed murder of innocent lives to continue in this state at will and on demand by any woman who desires to take a pill and kill her preborn child.”
Ultimately, the bill failed as the House Human Services Committee gave the legislation an 11-1 do not pass recommendation, and the full House voted 77-16 against advancing the proposal.
That came after an organization called North Dakota Can circulated a letter signed by a variety of conservative leaders. Amber Vibeto, the executive director of North Dakota Can, told The Daily Wire that the legislation was needed to crack down on the dramatic increase in so-called “self-managed abortions.”
“Abortion remains legal in all 50 states because even in pro-life states, pro-life legislation carves out special legal immunity for women to self-induce their own abortions,” she said. “And so women are self-inducing their own abortions and they have complete legal freedom to do so. And so there are no abortion bans in the United States.”
Vibeto said that the intent was not just to round up women and put them in prison, but to extend protections to the unborn.
“We just need to include the preborn in the homicide laws that we already have on the books. We just believe that the same laws that protect you and me from murder and homicide should protect the preborn as well,” she said. “Our constitution demands equal protection under the law to all persons, and it doesn’t have a qualifier that says ‘well, unless you live in a culture of lies that makes you a victim.’”
On the other side, a number of pro-life groups opposed the bill, saying that it would have done more harm than good. Both the North Dakota Catholic Conference and the North Dakota Family Alliance gave testimony urging lawmakers not to support the bill.
Mark Jorritsma, the executive director of the North Dakota Family Alliance, told The Daily Wire that while he believed the bill was “well-intentioned,” it was “not the right way to end abortion” in North Dakota.
“Fundamentally, you’re punishing the wrong person,” he said. “We do claim and agree that the mother is the second victim here. There is often undo pressure put on her, she’s in a state of mind where she’s not capable of making the right decisions given fear, or whatever else she may be dealing with.”
Jorritsma also said he had practical problems with the bill, saying that it would have led to a dramatic increase in prison population that wouldn’t be possible to maintain.
“Regardless of your ethical, moral, religious, philosophical bent on the issue, it’s just untenable. You cannot do it even if you wanted to,” he said. “You’re going to have law enforcement going out and arresting 18-year-old girls instead of stopping drunk drivers.”
David Tamisiea, the executive director of the North Dakota Catholic Conference, told The Daily Wire that he believed that pro-life lawmakers should focus on building a culture of life in the state instead of making women felons.
“Rather than going after women, supporting women in difficult circumstances so that abortion becomes unthinkable to them,” he said.
He also said that HB 1373 would have been immediately struck down because of a recent North Dakota Supreme Court decision that ruled that women have a “fundamental right” to abortion in certain circumstances.
A similar debate played out in Georgia, where lawmakers considered a similar bill, <a href="https://www.legis.ga.gov/legislation/70313" target="_blank" rel="noopener">HB 441.</a> That fight pitted groups like the Georgia Life Alliance against Georgia Right to Life.
The legislation, known as the Georgia Prenatal Equal Protection Act, was introduced by Rep. Emory Dunahoo. The proposal would have added protections for unborn babies under state homicide laws.
“Tens of thousands of babies, made in the image of God, continue to be murdered in our state every year, all within the bounds of the current law. That must be changed,” Dunahoo <a href="https://georgiarecorder.com/2025/03/26/bill-that-criminalizes-abortion-undermines-ivf-access-gets-georgia-house-panel-hearing/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> during a March hearing on his legislation.
His proposal was supported by Georgia Right to Life, a Christian organization that doesn’t support any exceptions for abortion.
“Our homicide code in Georgia does not criminalize people, it criminalizes an act. Just as homicide is an act that is born out under a criminal law, abortion being murder should carry that same punishment,” Georgia Right to Life Executive Director Zemmie Fleck told The Daily Wire. “Our homicide code should apply to both of those because, for Georgia Right to Life, we recognize that a preborn child is a person at its very earliest beginnings, whether that be in the petri dish or whether that is natural conception.”
Fleck added that she understood the enormous impact of abortion on American culture, noting that an estimated 65 million babies have been aborted since 1973.
“Our hearts go out, our prayers go out to men and women who have been impacted by this abortion issue. The numbers are just staggering,” she said. “This has impacted our society to incredible levels.”
On the other side, the Georgia Life Alliance, which describes itself as the largest pro-life group in the state, sent a letter to lawmakers asking them to oppose the legislation. In their letter, they said that they had “grave concerns with the impact, consequences, and outcomes of the bill which conflicts with our organizational mission.”
These concerns included their belief that deterring abortion “requires compassionate support, not punitive measures,” that the bill could deter women from seeking medical care, and that criminalizing abortion could lead to more “unregulated abortions.”
“Regardless of one’s beliefs on access to abortion, women and girls should not be further traumatized from their abortion by the fear of criminal prosecution,” the group wrote. “We can love them both by pursuing ways to help women and children in desperate situations and take care not to pass laws that unintentionally encourage their further harm and additional trauma to women which is incentivized by HB 441.”
Ultimately, the bill did not get a committee vote. But it could be brought up again by the chair at a later time.
Similar battles have played out this year in states like Missouri, Texas, and Oklahoma. In Oklahoma, delegates to the state’s Republican Party convention recently <a href="https://x.com/AbolishAbortOK/status/1918792596433858560?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1918792596433858560%7Ctwgr%5Eb3b17918d52c0073a6ab35b286f770b4392e9657%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Ffaa.life%2Farticles%2Foklahoma-christians-hold-enemies-of-equal-protection-accountable" target="_blank" rel="noopener">voted</a> to censor Republican lawmakers who opposed a proposal criminalizing abortion in the state.
Most national pro-life organizations oppose bills that would criminalize abortion, arguing that they harm the cause. In the lead up to the overturning of Roe, a coalition of top pro-life groups sent an <a href="https://www.nrlc.org/uploads/communications/051222coalitionlettertostates.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">open letter</a> to state legislatures making clear their opposition to criminalizing abortion.

“Women are victims of abortion and require our compassion and support as well as ready access to counseling and social services in the days, weeks, months, and years following an abortion,” the leaders wrote in the letter. “As national and state pro-life organizations, representing tens of millions of pro-life men, women, and children across the country, let us be clear: We state unequivocally that we do not support any measure seeking to criminalize or punish women and we stand firmly opposed to include such penalties in legislation.”
Signatories included the leaders of National Right to Life, Americans United for Life, March for Life Action, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, and many more.

Kelsey Pritchard, the political affairs communication director for Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, pointed out that none of the criminalization bills have been approved affirmatively by any GOP-led committees.
“SBA Pro-Life America does not support legislation to criminalize women and qualify them for the death penalty,” she said. “No state pro-life law criminalizes women, and that’s not changing as not a single one of these bills has passed out of committee.”
Pritchard also pointed to a <a href="https://lozierinstitute.org/study-many-women-who-had-abortions-felt-pressured-by-others/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">study</a> that said over 60% of women who had abortions reported experiencing some form of pressure or coercion. 
“In a world where a predatory abortion industry embeds lies about the humanity of unborn children into our culture and enables abortion coercion, women with unplanned pregnancies need more support,” she said.
One prominent national leader who has changed her perspective on the issue is Abby Johnson. A former Planned Parenthood employee, Johnson runs And Then There Were None, an organization that supports people who want to leave the abortion industry, and ProLove Ministries, a group that aids expectant moms in crisis pregnancies.
She told The Daily Wire that she is skeptical of the position that women are victims of abortion, saying that she often sees women boasting and laughing about ending the life of their unborn child outside of abortion facilities.
“Holding people accountable for their actions is the right thing to do. It’s the conservative thing to do. It’s the lawful thing to do. It’s the biblical thing to do,” she said.
She believes that criminalizing abortion would deter women from seeking to terminate their pregnancies. Personally, she said that she would not have had two abortions or worked for Planned Parenthood if she had faced the threat of criminalization.
“What is actually going to effectively reduce the number of abortions?” she said. “It’s not the regulation. It’s not going after the abortion doctors. It’s going after the people who are ordering, who are taking the pills, who are flushing the babies down the toilet, it’s going after the consumer.”
Johnson said that while she disagrees with the approach many of her national pro-life counterparts have taken, she is still able to work well with them on specific issues and causes. Pro-life leaders in North Dakota who opposed the criminalizing bill there echoed that sentiment.
Mark Jorritsma of the North Dakota Family Alliance told The Daily Wire that he would be “more than happy” to talk to the other side, adding that “they’re on our side, they are not the enemy.”
