<p data-path-to-node="2">Appearing on<span class="apple-converted-space"> </span>CNN’s &#8220;NewsNight,&#8221; Dr. Scott Ratzan, editor-in-chief of the<span class="apple-converted-space"> </span>Journal of Health Communication, leapt to the defense of Fauci, slamming congressional probes into Fauci’s pandemic response as a full-blown &#8220;assault on science.&#8221;</p>

<p data-path-to-node="3">“What&#8217;s happened is this is an assault on science and scientists,” Ratzan proclaimed. “And unfortunately, Dr. Fauci is in that seat, 38 years of service to the country, one of the best known scientists for infectious disease, unfortunately, has taken a lot of heat for probably a lot of, shall we say, issues that were not fully his.<span class="apple-converted-space"> </span>&#8230; Today, we certainly didn’t learn anything from the way the hearing was held.”</p>

<p data-path-to-node="4">When conservative radio host Jason Rantz contended that Fauci actively worked to suppress the idea that COVID escaped from a Wuhan laboratory, Ratzan dodged the origin question entirely.</p>

<p data-path-to-node="5">Instead of demanding accountability for the deadly bug, the Harvard-educated doc shrugged off the lingering mystery.</p>

<p data-path-to-node="6">“I think the reality is we shouldn’t be worrying about the lab leak theory today,” Ratzan brazenly claimed, insisting the focus should shift to building a “healthier America” rather than pointing fingers over where the virus came from.</p>

<p data-path-to-node="7">Rantz immediately fired back: “You’re now saying that we shouldn’t talk about where COVID came from?”</p>

<p data-path-to-node="8">The fiery segment only grew hotter when CNN host Abby Phillip stepped into the ring to go after Donald Trump, eager to dump the blame for America’s dark pandemic era squarely on the 45th president’s doorstep.</p>

<p data-path-to-node="9">“I may need to remind some people &#8230; Donald Trump was president and shut the country down,” Phillip snapped, running down a laundry list of lockdown-era grievances. “He was president when the mask mandates went into place, he was president when social distancing went into place, he was president when schools shut down.”</p>

<p data-path-to-node="10">While conceding Trump deserved &#8220;an enormous amount of credit&#8221; for Operation Warp Speed, Phillip insisted Trump can&#8217;t skate away clean from the era&#8217;s fallout. &#8220;The idea that Trump bears no responsibility if the conclusion is that it all went so wrong, that doesn’t line up with the facts.&#8221;</p>

Top Doc Defends Fauci, Urges Americans To Forget Lab Leak Theory In Fiery Debate

<p>While publicly urging Americans to avoid family gatherings and maintain &#8220;social distance,&#8221; Dr. Anthony Fauci was also busy behind the scenes cultivating a chummy friendship with CNN anchor Jake Tapper.</p>
<p>Fauci&#8217;s meetings and family dinners with the longtime CNN personality were revealed in a series of <a href="https://www.paul.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/2026.07.24_Tonys-Diary-Package.pdf">diary entries</a> made public on Saturday by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who uncovered them during his lengthy and thorough investigation into Fauci and the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.</p>
<p>The former White House chief medical adviser thoroughly documented his actions throughout the pandemic — with a heavy focus on his own media appearances and coverage, particularly when it was overly flattering — and referenced an interview with Tapper that took place on April 12, 2020. During that interview, Fauci conceded that Tapper had asked tough — but reasonable — questions, and then had called him directly afterward to make sure that the interview had not caused him &#8220;any problems.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Potential big problem (we shall see). <i>NY Times</i> reporting on an answer to a question that I gave on CNN yesterday (see above). Jake Tapper asked me if we had closed down earlier, whould (sic) that have saved lives. I said it is complicated; he persisted and I said obviously, if you close earlier there would have been lives saved, but the decision was complicated,&#8221; Fauci wrote. &#8220;I could have answered the question better and with more clarity, but the Times is now saying that I was implying that the POTUS was to blame for additional deaths according to me. The far right is tweeting to fire me. The POTUS even re-tweeted the tweet that said to fire me. We shall see how the day goes &#8230;&#8221;</p>
<p>Fauci said that he later met with President Donald Trump, who said that he did not have an issue and business continued as usual.</p>
<p class="p1">Of the press briefing that followed, he said, &#8220;I went out and explained that I was being hoest (sic) in my answer to Jake, but that I was not implying that anyone was responsible for more deaths &#8230; Phone call with Jake Tapper. Jake wanted to make sure the interview did not cause me any problems.&#8221;</p>
<p>Later that month, Tapper spoke with Fauci about an interview he&#8217;d done with Coronavirus coordinator Deborah Birx. Of that exchange, Fauci wrote, &#8220;I was not on Sunday shows. Deb was on CNN with Jake Tapper and did not answer the question of whether it was a mistake for the POTUS to talk about injecting or swallowing bleach. Jake wrote me a text afterwards and said: “Birx has lost her way I fear. She has chosen to focus on defending the president and attacking the press. Odd.&#8221;</p>
<p>On May 4, 2020, Fauci referenced a CNN interview in which Tapper had been hard on the Trump administration&#8217;s &#8220;inadequate&#8221; response to the pandemic — but had spared him the ire reserved for the president: &#8220;Jake Tapper did a segment last night on the inadequate response of the Trump administration to the pandemic. I came out relatively well.&#8221;</p>
<p>Later that month, when Katie Miller, a spokesperson for Vice President Mike Pence, tested positive, and Fauci was directly exposed to SARS-CoV-2, he got a call from Tapper making sure that he was all right.</p>
<p>&#8220;Jake Tapper called me and asked whether I was going inot (sic) quarantine. I explained to Jake that I would do a “modified quarantine” since I was a low risk exposure to Kstie (sic). Thid merans (sic) that I will get tested every day, would wear a mask ontinually (sic), and would spend most of my time either alone in my home office or alone in my NIH office and would go to White House or Congress with precautions of universal mask wearing and phycial (sic) distancing. I tested negative yesterday and will get tested every day for 14 days and then 1 time per week,&#8221; he wrote, adding in a subsequent entry that Marc Short was not taking enough precautions.</p>
<p>&#8220;Marc Short (whom I resally (sic) like) practically sits on Katie’s lap and he is vey (sic) close to the VP. Yet he is not even wearing a mask. He actually should be self-quarantining. He was at a much greater risk than I.&#8221;</p>
<p>On July 1, Fauci mentioned a dinner with Tapper and his wife: &#8220;Had dinner over Jake Tapper and Jen Tapper’s home in DC. Terrific couple. Friendship building.&#8221;</p>
<p>By late July, Fauci was feeding questions to Tapper ahead of interviews with other officials: &#8220;Brett Giroir on Tapper (State of the Union) talking bullsh*t about testing with Jake pressing him. I gave Jake some questions to ask him.&#8221;</p>
<p>And Tapper was calling Fauci to complain about President Trump: &#8220;Jake Tapper woke me up at 11:23 AM (I went to bed early) furius (sic) at POTUS for tweeting about the fact that Jake severly (sic) questioned Brett Giroir on SOTU CNN show today. Jake was really pissed at the craziness of it all.&#8221;</p>
<p>In later entries — into the fall of 2020, as Americans were preparing to host holiday dinners via Zoom — Fauci mentioned another dinner at the Tapper home: &#8220;Had dinner at my home with Jake and Jennifer Tapper. Relaxed, good time. Jake clearly believes that Trump is totally nuts.&#8221;</p>

<p>Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery have agreed to delay closing their proposed $110 billion merger until at least June 2027 as they battle a multistate antitrust lawsuit, extending uncertainty over a deal that could reshape the American media landscape.</p>
<p>The agreement allows both sides to avoid a court fight over a preliminary injunction while the case proceeds toward trial.</p>
<p>A coalition of 12 Democratic state attorneys general, led by California Attorney General Rob Bonta, sued to block the transaction. The lawsuit claims the merger would &#8220;extinguish competition&#8221; in the media and entertainment industries.</p>
<p>If approved, the merger would unite major media brands, including Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures, the Paramount+ and HBO Max streaming platforms, CBS News, and CNN under one corporate umbrella.</p>
<p>Rather than continue fighting emergency motions, the companies agreed not to close the transaction until June 2027 or until the court reaches a final decision.</p>
<p>Bonta celebrated the agreement as a major victory for the states challenging the merger.</p>

<p>The merger has attracted attention beyond Hollywood because Paramount is now controlled by Skydance founder and CEO David Ellison, 43, whose acquisition of Paramount was backed by his father, Oracle founder Larry Ellison, a longtime ally and supporter of President Donald Trump. Since Skydance took control of Paramount earlier this year, Ellison has overseen significant changes at CBS News, including bringing in journalist Bari Weiss to overhaul the network&#8217;s news division.</p>
<p>Ellison has drawn praise from President Trump, who has expressed optimism that new ownership could restore credibility to CBS News after years of criticism from conservatives and Republicans.</p>
<p>If this merger happens, one company will control CBS and CNN under ownership that conservatives believe is moving in a different editorial direction.</p>

<p>Former CNN host Don Lemon announced that he has been considering a 2028 presidential run, and has talked with his friends in politics about how to make a successful bid.</p>
<p>The &#8220;Can’t Be Censored&#8221; podcast hosts <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNccbHsqgWY">interviewed</a> Lemon at his New York City home on Wednesday, where Lemon was asked whether he was considering running for president.</p>
<p>“People keep asking me if I’m running for president, and I don’t know, I might, because people keep asking me to do it and if I’m going to do it,” Lemon said, later adding, “I actually think I would be a really good president of the United States. I’m being totally serious.”</p>
<p>Lemon also believes that the state of the economy and the quality of other candidates could spur a presidential run.</p>
<p>“I look around, you know, and I see the folks who are, you know, possibly in the running, and some of them are impressive,” Lemon said. “Many of them, most of them, are not. And it seems in this day and age you don’t have to have a ton of political experience because our current president has none — had none.”</p>
<p>Looking directly at the camera, Lemon continued. “The current president is not doing a great job for the working-class people, for the American economy. He’s doing a fantastic job for his rich friends,” he said.</p>
<p>When asked whether he has considered the logistics of a presidential run and if he has formed an “exploratory team,” Lemon said “I’ve stuck my toe into it.”</p>
<p>“I’ve talked to people about it, people who have been in politics before, and asked, what would it take? When would I have to get in to do it?” Lemon said.</p>
<p>Lemon stated that he would prefer not to rely on big donors and he wants to keep his unfiltered way of speaking if he were to run for president.</p>
<p>“They tell me, ‘You can’t tell these types of stories during dinner parties if you want to be president of the United States. Because I like to have fun. And I have a potty mouth,” Lemon said.</p>
<p>“I would like to run, and I don&#8217;t know if this is realistic or not, without having to beg for money. I would like it to be a voter, citizen-driven campaign for as much as it can be,” Lemon said. “I would rather the people of the United States to say, ‘That’s the guy that we want. I’m gonna give him five dollars or ten dollars.’”</p>
<p>“As we get closer to 2027 or 2028, I’ll see, I’ll decide. But I have enough on my hands right now,” Lemon concluded.</p>
<p>Lemon was fired from CNN in 2023, and while no official reason was ever given, most news sources such as AP news <a href="https://apnews.com/article/don-lemon-cnn-departure-204c35dea8e4bb1151c6cce0bf833182">attributed</a> it to his off-color remarks about then-51-year-old Nikki Haley not being “in her prime.” If Lemon were to mount a presidential campaign in 2028, he would be 11 years older than Haley was at the time he made those comments.</p>
<p>Lemon attributed his termination to racism and homophobia among CNN’s higher-ups.</p>
<p>“I didn’t think that they treated me with any dignity and respect. I blame the management and the people who are in control … They wanted to get rid of me as the gay black guy. 100% what it was,” he said.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Israel has shared intelligence with the United States indicating that Iran has developed a new plot to assassinate President Donald Trump, according to multiple reports citing sources familiar with the matter.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The warning, first reported by </span><a href="https://www.wsj.com/world/middle-east/iran-hatched-fresh-plot-to-kill-trump-israel-told-u-s-1511d9d2"><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Wall Street Journal</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and later corroborated by </span><a href="https://www.cnn.com/2026/07/09/politics/trump-assassination-plot-iran-israel"><span style="font-weight: 400;">CNN</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, marks the latest in a years-long series of Iranian threats against Trump following the 2020 U.S. airstrike that killed Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">According to CNN, one source said Israel relayed the warning to U.S. officials this week, while another said American intelligence agencies had already been tracking a steady stream of threats against Trump in recent weeks. The Israeli intelligence reportedly described a more specific assassination threat than previously known, though no details have been made public. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Neither the White House nor Israeli officials publicly commented on the reported intelligence. Iran&#8217;s mission to the United Nations also did not immediately respond to requests for comment.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Instead, the White House referred reporters to <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/07/08/world-news/trump-says-iran-peace-deal-likely-dead-he-no-longer-will-deal-with-sick-people/">remarks</a> Trump made Wednesday. </span></p>

<p>CNN ran with a quote from a parody account during a segment about Republicans who say they have spoken with ailing former Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) during his recent hospitalization.</p>
<p>Host Audie Cornish introduced the segment, which came as speculation continues to swirl about McConnell&#8217;s health. Cornish noted that several prominent Republicans had spoken up in recent days to say that McConnell was still recovering but doing well.</p>
<p>&#8220;You have a lot of Senate Republicans coming out, we&#8217;re going to show some onscreen, all saying, &#8216;I talked to him,&#8217; &#8216;I talked to him,&#8217; &#8216;I talked to him for 20 minutes,&#8217; &#8216;I talked to him for 45 minutes,'&#8221; she said. &#8220;We&#8217;re hearing these pundits talk not just about his potential health, but what they think the issue is: a special election deadline.&#8221;</p>

<p>Jenny Racicot, 41, said during a CNN interview that aired Monday that Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner, a Democrat, had stopped briefly to apologize while he was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-new-sexual-assault-accusation-rocks-maine-democrat-graham-platner">raping her</a>.</p>
<p>Racicot described the scenario to CNN anchor Jake Tapper, claiming that Platner had appeared to be &#8220;blackout drunk&#8221; when he came into her house — and although he did not listen when she told him to stop, there were periods where he &#8220;came to&#8221; and apologized before going right back to what he was doing.</p>

<p>Racicot explained that she and Platner had been texting each other on the evening of the alleged assault, and that she must have said something that he had believed to be an invitation. She said she had not meant it that way, but he said he was going to come over. According to Racicot, she said again that he should not come over, and he stopped responding — at which point she believed he had gotten the message.</p>
<p>It was about thirty minutes later that she said he showed up, entered her home through an unlocked door, and got on top of her. Racicot said she told him several times that she was &#8220;not into&#8221; what he was doing, but that he did not listen. She said that as the assault continued, Platner had a blank look in his eyes.</p>
<p>She said that in the struggle, one of them had knocked over a sewing kit that she kept near the couch — and when the contents hit the ground and scattered, that was the moment she began thinking that she should &#8220;comply&#8221; for her own safety.</p>
<p>&#8220;That was me recognizing that this wasn&#8217;t just like oh, hey, somebody showed up and I&#8217;m going to tell him to go home, like he was heavily intoxicated, had intentions with me, and wasn&#8217;t listening when I said no,&#8221; she claimed.</p>
<p>As the assault continued, she said he seemed to be going in and out of moments of lucidity — and even said that he &#8220;would apologize&#8221; before going right back to what he&#8217;d been doing.</p>
<p>Racicot said that once it was over, she sat in her bathroom for quite some time attempting to process what had happened. The hardest thing, she said, was realizing that he had been someone she trusted and had been involved with before, was that it &#8220;was consensual until it wasn&#8217;t.&#8221;</p>
<p>By the time she came out of the bathroom, she said that Platner had fallen asleep in her bed. Realizing that he had driven to her house drunk and not wanting to put him back on the road in that condition, she said she waited until he woke up and told him to leave. He said he did not remember anything that had happened the night before — and Racicot told him that nothing he had done that night had been acceptable, demanding that he leave.</p>
<p>&#8220;He just got up and got dressed and didn&#8217;t seem concerned,&#8221; she said. &#8220;He didn&#8217;t ask me a single question &#8230; How can somebody that you&#8217;ve been in some type of a relationship with for this long tells you to never speak to [them] again because of something that you did and you don&#8217;t even ask what you did?&#8221;</p>
<p>Racicot told Tapper that she had been torn on whether to come forward, in part because she is a Democrat and would like to see a Democrat win the Senate seat in Maine — but that she felt like she couldn&#8217;t stay silent any longer.</p>

<p class="p1">Everyone holds a grudge against some product so poor it&#8217;s unusable. The pan to which everything sticks; the deodorant that transforms the smell of sweat into a chemical weapon; the vile beer you haven’t raised to your lips since you were 19; much of the Disney Star Wars catalog.</p>
<p class="p1">CNN’s coverage of the Supreme Court is similarly dismal.</p>
<p class="p1">There are exceptions that ought to be acknowledged up front. Chief legal affairs correspondent Paula Reid traffics mostly in straightforward summaries and scoops, and senior legal analyst Elie Honig is among the most evenhanded and able in the entire industry (his <a href="https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/trump-was-convicted-but-prosecutors-contorted-the-law.html"><span class="s1">takedown</span></a> of disgraced Manhattan District Attorney and unwitting Trump 2024 campaign co-chair Alvin Bragg made for a particularly enjoyable and richly deserved demonstration of his fair-minded aptitude.)</p>
<p class="p1">But by and large: dismal.</p>
<p class="p1">Tuesday was particularly instructive. The Supreme Court released a pair of decisions celebrated by conservatives on the topics of campaign finance and transgender athletes before striking down President Donald Trump’s attempt to do away with birthright citizenship in its most highly anticipated opinion of the term.</p>
<p class="p1">It was a representative finale, as the Court has spent months serving up mixed bags that have driven the president to his wit’s end. Among the other subjects he’s suffered losses on: tariffs, mail-in ballot deadlines, and the employment status of Federal Reserve Board member Lisa Cook.</p>
<p class="p1">Nevertheless, a panel on Tuesday’s edition of <i>Inside Politics </i><a href="https://www.cnn.com/audio/podcasts/inside-politics/episodes/7f248bdc-b8ee-11f0-999e-bb9a43376430">breaking</a> down this final spate of cases appears to have been assembled for the express purpose of advancing a preposterous narrative about the Court’s supposed partisan bent.</p>
<p class="p1">After <i>The New York Times’ </i>Tyler Pager observed that Trump was likely to lash out over the birthright citizenship ruling, host Manu Raju insisted that the Court “did allow him to push the bounds of what he can do.”</p>
<p class="p1">Moments later, the discussion turned to <i>National Republican Senatorial Committee v. Federal Election Commission</i>, the aforementioned campaign finance case in which the Court held that the congressionally-imposed limits on the amount of money that can be spent by political parties in coordination with candidates violate the First Amendment – and devolved into a stunning demonstration of its participants’ juvenile hackery.</p>
<p class="p1">Raju characterized it as “a big win for Republicans, who were pushing to gut the post-Watergate rules.” You get all that? Republicans are desperate, to the point of violent metaphors to bring back Watergate-style corruption. Never mind the facts of the actual case, which had nothing to do with the scandal that drove Richard Nixon from office, or that the ruling cuts both ways. Just take CNN at its word.</p>
<p class="p1">It only got worse from there. NPR’s Ayesha Rascoe complained that while “people” want to see money taken “out of politics,” the Court has moved “in the totally opposite direction.” As a liberal, her misunderstanding of the American constitutional order – the judiciary is designed to be a check on the political branches, not a super-legislature that rubber stamps the whims of the “people” at any given point in time – is to be expected. As a professional political commentator, it’s embarrassing.</p>
<p class="p1">Not to be outdone, Georgetown University law professor Steve Vladeck marveled that “this Supreme Court” is “unapologetic” about “overruling its own precedent,” and parroted Justice Elena Kagan’s protest that “we’re supposed to have good reasons for overturning these precedents” before repeating Rascoe’s inane point about public sentiment. Arbitrary, undue restrictions on political speech don’t qualify as a “good reason” in Vladeck’s book? Spare a prayer for this man’s poor students. They’re paying over $80,000 a year in tuition to be misinformed by a slack-jawed blowhard.</p>
<p class="p1">Chief Supreme Court analyst and Fredo Corleone of Nina Totenberg’s Joan Biskupic picked up the torch from there to gush over Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s dissent in the trans athlete case, in which she argued: “how terrible it was going to be in terms of fairness on the competitive field.”</p>
<p class="p1">Huh?</p>
<p class="p1">She went on to declare that interpersonal tension between the justices could be chalked up to the fact that “the conservative members of the Court were chosen for certain reasons, and they were chosen for their vigilance on the kinds of rulings that-”</p>
<p class="p1">“And their reliability,” chimed in Vladeck.</p>
<p class="p1">“-not just President Trump might want, but the Republican Party would want. That was the whole point,” concluded Biskupic.</p>
<p class="p1">“Well, the word reliability, I think, is an important one because it’s exactly why the Court is constantly criticized. Because overturning precedent is not just a matter of throwing away trash,” declared chief legal analyst Laura Coates. “ It really is if the American public has chosen these nine Supreme Court justices in terms of a body that is supposed to provide the consistency, reliability so people can manage their lives accordingly, every time you overturn precedent, you undermine the ability of the American public, let alone the voting public, to understand the world in which they live and operate, and the balance of power. And so if they are in the business of deciding what we just said no longer applies, then how can the American public be in the habit of understanding what laws and rights they retain, and what will end up on the fire heap.”</p>
<p class="p1">What you’re not supposed to notice is that it’s the conservative majority that just rescued one of the public’s most cherished rights from the fire heap.</p>
<p class="p1">Or that the progressive chattering class only extolls the sacred value of <i>stare decisis</i> when it serves their political interests.</p>
<p class="p1">At the root of this parade of misfires, distortions, and outright lies — all of which were promulgated in only about 15 minutes of airtime — is the fact that it’s the Left that approaches legal questions in exactly the shameful manner that it pretends the Right does.</p>
<p class="p1">It’s the Democratic appointees to the bench who vote as a bloc on every single high-profile, politically sensitive case. It’s they who were appointed to promote a worldview rather than uphold the law. And it’s their cheerleaders in liberal media who have worked tirelessly to delegitimize Article III in the eyes of the public.</p>
<p class="p1">The cost of that campaign? Its participants’ dignity and professional pride.</p>
<p class="p1">They’re all too happy to pay up.</p>

<p>Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) delivered a Bible-based — and very personal — Father&#8217;s Day message specifically aimed at children who were growing up without fathers.</p>
<p>Scott joined CNN anchor Jake Tapper on Sunday morning&#8217;s broadcast of &#8220;State of the Union,&#8221; where he talked about the fact that he&#8217;d grown up from the age of seven without his own father present — and then, when he married, he&#8217;d become a stepfather to his new wife&#8217;s adult children.</p>
<p>He spoke about <a href="https://x.com/CNNSOTU/status/2068700521251119222">advice</a> from a pastor, who&#8217;d reminded him that he had to &#8220;earn the right to influence&#8221; the lives of the adult children in his newly-blended family — and he said that advice had so far served him well. But then Tapper asked what advice he had for fathers — or for those who might be living without a father.</p>

<p>Enten discussed the Bidens and their apparent waning popularity even as former first lady Jill Biden continues to do press for her new memoir, &#8220;View From The East Wing&#8221; — and as Joe Biden is expected to release a memoir later in the year.</p>

<p>Anchor John Berman asked Enten how the Bidens were doing in terms of popularity following Jill Biden&#8217;s book release, and the short answer was clear: not well.</p>
<p>&#8220;The American people have one message for the Bidens that is: go away!” Enten said, repeating, “Go away!”</p>
<p class="qualified qualified-2">&#8220;I mean, just look at this. Look at Biden&#8217;s net favorable rating in January of 2025; it was -22 points. Has it gone any better? No, not really,&#8221; Enten continued. &#8220;He’s still way underwater here at -19 points. He’s 28 points underwater with independents. Joe Biden ended his term as president as quite unpopular. And he remains quite unpopular.”</p>
<p>Enten went on to reveal why even some Democrats who might personally like the former president would still prefer that he remained out of the public eye: &#8220;He is an anchor to the Democratic Party and potentially their fortunes in the 2026 midterm elections.&#8221;</p>
<p>Berman asked how Biden compared to other former presidents — particularly Democrats — and the news did not get any better: former Presidents Barack Obama (+31), Bill Clinton (-3), and Jimmy Carter (+22) all fared much better than Biden.</p>
<p>The former first lady was in the same proverbial boat as her husband, Enten added.</p>
<p>&#8220;Jill Biden – obviously not Joe Biden, though they are married – okay, just look at this. Was she a popular first lady? Dem first lady’s net favorability at the end of their final term? She was just two points above water. Obviously, not as bad as Joe Biden, but Michelle Obama was 43 points above water. Hillary Clinton was 13 points above water,&#8221; he said.</p>

And here’s the thing about those two items: You can’t kill them. You can try to suppress it, and throughout our history people have tried to silence it, but they always find a way, like water finding cracks in a dam.&#8221;</p>
