Just to name some of the famed Evangelical charities in America sounds like a Who’s Who of charities: World Vision, which aids community development and child sponsorship in nearly 100 countries; Samaritan’s Purse, led by Franklin Graham, which specializes in international disaster relief and medical missions, known for its Operation Christmas Child program; Compassion International, which pairs individual donors with children in poverty to provide nutrition, education, and spiritual guidance; The Salvation Army, which provides social services ranging from food pantries to homeless shelters for millions of Americans every year, and World Relief, the humanitarian arm of the National Association of Evangelicals, which focuses heavily on refugee resettlement and global poverty.  
Vis-à-vis adoption, Evangelical Christians have been <a href="https://www.barna.com/research/5-things-you-need-to-know-about-adoption/">five times as likely</a> to adopt children than the average American and more than three times as likely to take in foster children compared to those with no religious affiliation.
As far as where the Evangelical community <a href="https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2024/04/30/voters-views-of-trump-and-biden-differ-sharply-by-religion/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" data-sk="tooltip_parent">stands politically</a>, for several election cycles, the voting behavior of Evangelicals has remained remarkably stable. During the 2024 Presidential Election, approximately 80% to 82% of white Evangelicals said they would vote for the Republican ticket. In 2024, approximately 64% of Hispanic Protestants <a href="https://prri.org/research/analyzing-the-2024-presidential-vote-prris-post-election-survey/">voted</a> for Trump. 77% of black Protestants typically vote for Democratic candidates.

As New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani continues to &#8220;crow&#8221; about imagining a better city, massive piles of garbage have  begun &#8220;choking&#8221; the streets near Gracie Mansion, the mayor’s residence, while the sidewalks outside Mamdani&#8217;s home &#8220;are squeaky clean.&#8221;
“Eight-foot piles of rat-infested trash are choking the streets around Gracie Mansion — which has gotten kid-glove shoveling treatment as Mayor Zohran Mamdani crows he can’t ‘imagine how it could get better’ in the city,” the New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/02/01/us-news/mayor-mamdanis-gracie-mansion-noticeably-trash-free-as-ues-neighbors-drown-in-8-foot-piles-of-garbage/">reported</a>.
In his January 1 inaugural address, Mamdani pledged to &#8220;replace the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism.&#8221; He also urged New Yorkers to reject the &#8220;natural weather&#8221; of systemic failure.
“We are told to look at a subway that is delayed, a rent check that is impossible to pay, or a neighbor sleeping in the cold, and accept it as the natural weather of our city. I ask you today to reject that. I ask you to look at everything we are told is broken and simply imagine how it could get better—and then realize that we have the power to make it so.”
However, less than a month into his term, this aspirational rhetoric has collided with a brutal reality: a historic deep freeze that has claimed the lives of at least 16 people found outdoors.
Critics argue that Mamdani’s leftist ideals are failing the city’s most vulnerable.
While the mayor has publicized the deaths and deployed &#8220;warming buses,&#8221; the <a href="https://www.city-journal.org/article/zohran-mamdani-homeless-deaths-cold-weather">Manhattan Institute </a>and other observers contend his refusal to use involuntary removals is &#8220;unworkable&#8221; and &#8220;deadly.&#8221; By framing homelessness as a housing issue rather than one of untreated mental illness or addiction, Mamdani’s &#8220;voluntary-first&#8221; approach may inadvertently leave those unable to make rational decisions to perish in the cold. Advocates further note that &#8220;band-aid&#8221; solutions like warming centers do not address the pervasive violence within the shelter system that drives people to the streets in the first place.
The fiscal backdrop is equally contentious. Mamdani has blamed his predecessor, Eric Adams, for a $12.6 billion budget gap and &#8220;gross fiscal mismanagement.&#8221; Adams has fired back on social media, dismissing Mamdani’s campaign promises of free childcare and transit as &#8220;expensive boondoggles,&#8221; noting that &#8220;the fastest way to balance a budget is to admit that ‘free’ comes with a price tag.&#8221;
As Mamdani attempts to navigate a record-breaking winter and a looming deficit, his critics suggest that &#8220;imagining&#8221; a better New York is no substitute for the pragmatism required to keep the streets clean and the population alive.

According to an explosive investigation relayed to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, the now-defunct Credit Suisse maintained at least 890 accounts linked to Nazi officials, facilitating Adolf Hitler’s war machine and funding the &#8220;ratlines&#8221; that allowed his henchmen to escape justice.
The findings, championed by Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) in a hearing titled “The Truth Revealed: Hidden Facts Regarding Nazis and Swiss Banks,” paint a portrait of a banking institution that functioned as a financial lung for the Schutzstaffel (known as the SS). Evidence shows the bank held accounts for the German Foreign Office, Nazi arms manufacturers, and even the &#8220;economic arm&#8221; of the SS. While the Swiss government claimed to have investigated these ties in the 1990s, Grassley alleges the bank &#8220;stifled key details,&#8221; essentially gaslighting Holocaust survivors for thirty years.
“The investigation also found evidence the Credit Suisse banking relationships with the Nazi SS was more extensive than we knew before,” he stated.
The scale of the deception is staggering. While previous audits identified only 100 suspicious accounts, this new probe — bolstered by the cooperation of Argentine President Javier Milei — uncovered nearly 900. World Jewish Congress President Ronald Lauder suggests that the 1998 $1.25 billion settlement was a fraction of what was owed, estimating that investigators &#8220;negotiated blind&#8221; and left up to $10 billion on the table.
“The Simon Wiesenthal Center also published a report in 2020 that <a href="https://wiesenthal-europe.com/en/news-releases-menu/38-news-releases-2020/596-wiesenthal-centre-reveals-12-000-names-of-nazis-in-argentina-many-of-whom-apparently-had-accounts-transferred-to-credit-suisse">exposed as many as 12,000 Nazis</a> who fled to Argentina, many of whom were linked to accounts at Credit Suisse’s predecessor,” The New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/02/03/us-news/credit-suisse-banked-nearly-900-nazi-accounts-during-hitlers-wwii-probe/">noted</a>. “That figure was far higher than the nearly 100 Nazi-linked accounts previously identified by the forensic research firm AlixPartners, which Credit Suisse had retained for the purposes of an extensive review.”
The investigation nearly died in darkness. Independent ombudsman Neil Barofsky <a href="https://www.wsj.com/finance/banking/nazi-ties-to-credit-suisse-ran-deeper-than-was-known-hidden-files-reveal-285ab620">had been hired</a> in 2021, only to be sidelined and fired by Credit Suisse in 2022 after the bank felt he had gone too far. It was only after UBS acquired the failing bank in a 2023 emergency takeover — and faced immense pressure from American lawmakers — that Barofsky was reinstated and the archives were truly blown open.
Perhaps most damning is the logistical complicity revealed by Argentine records. Credit Suisse reportedly leased a building in Switzerland to the Argentine government specifically to coordinate &#8220;ratline&#8221; operations, providing the literal and financial architecture for war criminals to flee to South America.
As UBS executives testify before Congress, their legal team is already attempting to muzzle the findings, asking federal judges to prevent &#8220;public controversy&#8221; or further financial claims. However, with the Simon Wiesenthal Center fighting for First Amendment transparency, the &#8220;Swiss Bank&#8221; myth of quiet professionalism is being replaced by a more accurate image: a counting house for the architects of genocide.
