Two weeks ago, Bloomberg anchor Lisa Abramowicz, discussing the sale of Nvidia H200s to China with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/will-president-trump-sell-advanced-ai-chips-to-china">asked</a>, “Is it more of a national security risk to give China some of these high-powered chips, or is it more of a national security risk to not have United States tech in China?”
Lutnick replied, saying that very question was sitting on the president’s desk. On Monday, President Trump delivered his answer.
“I have informed President Xi, of China, that the United States will allow Nvidia to ship its H200 products to approved customers in China, and other Countries, under conditions that allow for continued strong National Security,” the president announced. “President Xi responded positively! 25% will be paid to the United States of America.”
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for clarification on whether that 25% will be paid by foreign governments, strictly Chinese buyers, or the AI companies themselves. In August, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/morning-brief-trumps-d-c-takeover-a-china-chip-deal-border-wall-2-0">reports</a> surfaced of a separate arrangement in which Nvidia and AMD would share 15% of their profits with the United States government.
President Trump emphasized that Nvidia’s most advanced chips, Blackwell and Rubin, would not be included in H200 export authorization.
The decision drew an immediate rebuke from Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA). “After his backroom meeting with Donald Trump and his company’s donation to the Trump ballroom, CEO Jensen Huang got his wish to sell the most powerful AI chip we’ve ever sold to China.”
Warren called for Huang to “testify publicly and under oath” in front of Congress.

Trump defended the move, insisting it would not compromise national security. “We will protect national security, create American jobs, and keep America’s lead in AI,” he stated.
Earlier this month, Samuel Hammond, the chief economist at the Foundation for American Innovation, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/will-president-trump-sell-advanced-ai-chips-to-china">told</a> The Daily Wire, “Permitting H200 exports to China would be a world-historic mistake. America’s current lead in AI would be radically diminished with very little to show for it.”
AI Czar David Sacks, speaking at the Salesforce Dreamforce conference, described the export policy as a complicated endeavor.
“What we ship to China is complicated,” he said, noting that current policy permits less advanced chips to be sold abroad, but that the fight in Washington is where that line is drawn. “Some people want to draw that line very, very restrictively.”
Sacks has not yet commented on the H200 decision — but earlier on Monday, he weighed in on the president’s forthcoming “One Rule” executive order. “There must be only one rulebook if we are going to continue to lead in AI,” Trump said, warning that “we are beating all countries at this point in the [AI] race, but that won’t last for long if we are going to have 50 States involved in the rules and approval process.”
Addressing concerns on the AI preemption, Sacks stated that with 50 different AI models for 50 different states, America will end up with a &#8220;regulatory morass worse than Europe.&#8221; The AI czar <a href="https://x.com/DavidSacks/status/1998125180753944985">added</a>, &#8220;If we want America to win the AI race, a confusing patchwork of regulation will not work.&#8221;
Further details on the &#8220;One Rule&#8221; executive order, as well as clarification on the H200 sale to China, are expected later this week.

WASHINGTON—The Supreme Court heard oral arguments Monday in a case that could change the way presidents interact with the massive federal bureaucracy.
At issue in the case, Trump v. Slaughter, is whether a president has the authority to fire officials from independent agencies. Rebecca Slaughter, a former Federal Trade Commissioner, sued the president for removing her from the commission in March. Over the day&#8217;s three-hour proceeding, the court&#8217;s six conservative justices seemed inclined to side with President Donald Trump. Doing so would upend the way the federal bureaucracy interacts with the executive branch — a win not just for Trump, but for small-government conservatives anxious to claw back power from the &#8220;deep state.&#8221;
Slaughter’s team argues that independent agencies like the FTC have long-standing statutory protections allowing commissioners to be removed only “for cause” rather than “at will.” The team also insisted that these protections are essential for preserving agency independence, preventing partisan interference, and maintaining the separation of powers.
“We are asking the court to adhere to all of its precedents and to give effect to the collective wisdom and experience of all three branches of government,” said attorney Amit Agarwal. “Multi-member commissions with members enjoying some kind of removal protection have been part of our story since 1970.”
Solicitor General John Sauer contends, however, that Slaughter&#8217;s case rests on a precedent he called a “decaying husk.&#8221; Relying on the 1935 case, Humphrey’s Executor v. United States, &#8220;continues to tempt Congress to erect, at the heart of our government, a headless branch,” he argued.
Sauer acknowledged, however, that not all independent agencies are alike. In response to a question from Justice Brett Kavanaugh about how the Federal Reserve differs from the FTC, Sauer said the Fed was “sui generis” and should be treated as such.
Kavanaugh was frequently at odds with Justice Elena Kagan throughout oral arguments.
“Once you’re down this road, it’s a little bit hard to see how you would stop,” Kagan <a href="https://www.supremecourt.gov/oral_arguments/argument_transcripts/2025/25-332_p8k0.pdf">said,</a> arguing that giving the president control of the bureaucracy would essentially cede power to the executive.
Kavanaugh pushed back, <a href="https://www.supremecourt.gov/oral_arguments/argument_transcripts/2025/25-332_p8k0.pdf">noting</a> that &#8220;the real world of this is the independent agencies shift power from the presidency to the Congress. Everyone recognizes that.&#8221;

In the email notifying Slaughter that she was being fired, the White House <a href="https://www.scotusblog.com/2025/12/trump-v-slaughter-an-explainer/">said</a> that allowing Slaughter to remain on the commission would be “inconsistent with [the] Administration’s priorities.” Former President Joe Biden appointed Slaughter to her second term at the Federal Trade Commission, which would have ended in 2029.
The Supreme Court is expected to issue a decision on the president’s authority to dismiss Slaughter by June 2026. If the Supreme Court sides with President Trump, Slaughter’s attorneys <a href="https://www.scotusblog.com/2025/12/trump-v-slaughter-an-explainer/">argue</a> the decision “would profoundly destabilize institutions that are now inextricably intertwined with the fabric of American governance.”

The upcoming hearing aims to highlight the full extent of the waste, fraud, and abuse that investigators say took place. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA), who chairs the small business committee, recently introduced the<a href="https://www.ernst.senate.gov/news/press-releases/ernst-introduces-bill-to-halt-fraud-filled-sba-program" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Stop 8(a) Contracting Fraud Act</a> to place a hold on all new no-bid federal contracts until the 8(a) program, dramatically expanded under President Joe Biden as part of a DEI initiative, undergoes a full audit.
While Rosiak will focus on fraud within the 8(a) program, two other witnesses will address additional areas of waste, including misuse of COVID funds and USAID grants: Open the Books CEO John Hart, and Courtney LaFountain, Acting Director of the Government Accountability Office.
“If a small business treated their finances like the government treats tax dollars, they would go out of business,” Ernst said. “This has always been an issue in Washington, but under Joe Biden it became an all-you-can-eat buffet of waste, fraud, and abuse with criminals and con artists cashing in while hardworking Americans were left out in the cold. “The fact that he came into office and the first thing that he said was: drill, baby, drill. His point is we need energy growth. … Without energy growth, we can have no industrial growth. And that was it, saved it, saved the AI industry,” Huang told podcaster Joe Rogan. “I gotta tell you flat out, if not for his pro-growth energy policy, we would not be able to build factories for AI.”
On the first night of his presidency, Trump wasted no time addressing American energy. He <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/declaring-a-national-energy-emergency/">declared</a> a “National Energy emergency,” stating, “An affordable and reliable domestic supply of energy is a fundamental requirement for the national and economic security of any nation.”
While Huang told Rogan that long-term, “the amount of energy necessary for artificial intelligence for most people will be minuscule, utterly minuscule,” he made it clear that today, energy “is the bottleneck” for AI growth.
His warning is backed by Wall Street. Goldman Sachs <a href="https://www.goldmansachs.com/insights/articles/AI-poised-to-drive-160-increase-in-power-demand">estimates</a> that power demand from data centers could rise by 160% by the end of the decade due to AI.
Trump has spoken openly about the scale of that challenge. In a speech discussing the future of AI, the president recalled learning how much electricity AI plants would require. “You got to be kidding. Double what we produce right now for everything.”

Preparing the nation for a surge in energy demand, Trump passed an executive order, titled “<a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/unleashing-american-energy/">Unleashing American Energy</a>.” The order calls for expanded energy exploration and production on federal lands and waters and instructs federal agencies to review existing regulations, orders, and policies. Federal agencies are directed to revise or rescind actions that “impose an undue burden on the identification, development, or use of domestic energy with particular attention to oil, natural gas coal, hydropower, biofuels, critical mineral, and nuclear energy resources.&#8221; The order also paused Biden-era funding and subsidies for many “green” initiatives.
Five days before President Biden left office, his administration issued the AI Diffusion Rule, creating new compliance and export requirements for advanced AI technology. Nvidia quickly condemned the rule and later supported the Trump administration’s decision to rescind it. “This last-minute Biden administration policy would be a legacy that will be criticized by U.S. industry and the global community,” stated Nvidia&#8217;s vice president of government affairs in a statement <a href="https://seekingalpha.com/news/4393980-nvidia-criticizes-biden-administrations-plan-for-ai-chip-export-curbs">shared</a> with Seeking Alpha. “We would encourage President Biden to not preempt incoming President Trump by enacting a policy that will only harm the U.S. economy, set America back. And play into the hands of U.S. adversaries.”
Exactly two months after Biden’s AI Diffusion Rule had been in place, and three months before it would have taken effect, the Trump administration rescinded the rule.
The rule, issued on January 15, 2025, was scheduled to take effect on May 15. The Bureau of Industry and Security, which has authority over the rule, later rescinded it, stating that the requirements would have stifled American innovation by burdening U.S. companies with heavy regulatory costs.
Complimentary of the administration’s policies, Huang also noted he was surprised by President Trump.
“The one-on-one President Trump is very different,” the CEO explained. “He surprised me. First of all, he’s an incredibly good listener. Almost everything I’ve ever said to him he’s remembered.”

As everyone shared their &#8220;Spotify Wrapped&#8221; results on social media, Google released its own year-in-review.
The search engine dropped its annual &#8220;Year In Search&#8221; <a href="https://trends.withgoogle.com/year-in-search/2025/us/">report</a> early Thursday, and the results are a good snapshot of the year&#8217;s biggest news stories. One of this year&#8217;s biggest surprises was that Chinese AI Company DeepSeek cracked the Top 10 Trending Searches in the United States.
In early 2025, DeepSeek made news after <a href="https://www.insidegovernmentcontracts.com/2025/02/u-s-federal-and-states-governments-moving-quickly-to-restrict-use-of-deepseek/">claiming</a> its latest AI model performed just as well as American AI systems despite only needing $6 million worth of older, weaker chips to build it. The company&#8217;s claims sent Nvidia and other American firms into a global sell-off, with Nvidia plunging <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2025/01/27/nvidia-falls-10percent-in-premarket-trading-as-chinas-deepseek-triggers-global-tech-sell-off.html">16.9%</a> on the news.
Just this week, DeepSeek released two new AI models and a technology <a href="https://x.com/deepseek_ai/status/1995452641430651132?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwca[…]5-12-01%2Fdeepseek-debuts-new-ai-models-to-rival-google-and-openai">report</a>, doubling down on its bold claims.
Google&#8217;s other trending topics were less shocking, with politics leading the national conversation in 2025. Charlie Kirk, the Turning Point USA founder who was assassinated in September, was the &#8220;top trending U.S. search&#8221; overall.
New York Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani, who last year was unknown even in Manhattan, took the number-one slot in &#8220;top trending people searches,&#8221; and was the sixth-most &#8216;top trending US Searches&#8217; overall. The One Big Beautiful Bill, which President Donald Trump signed into law on July 4th, took the fifth slot.
All told, politics accounted for 60% of the top trending Google searches in 2025, up from 30% last year.
“Trump has set the pace,” the Guardian <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/feb/02/trump-media-pressure?utm_source=chatgpt.com">reported</a>. “Dominating the news cycle with a flood of executive orders and actions, raids of undocumented immigrants, fast-moving international disputes, contentious cabinet confirmations, interpretations of the causes of a tragic air crash in Washington, D.C. and much more.”
But not all searches were political. Music fans had Taylor Swift on repeat, bringing four songs from her new album, &#8220;The Life Of A Showgirl,&#8221; into the Top Trending Song Searches of 2025.
Sports also captured attention. Americans showed strong interest in the FIFA World Cup, scheduled for 2026. The upcoming tournament will mark the first time the World Cup expands to 48 teams battling across three countries: the United States, Canada, and Mexico. 
Google <a href="https://trends.withgoogle.com/year-in-search/data-methodology/">says</a> its report is intended to provide a “unique look at what the world is searching for, and what it seeks to better understand.”
“These searches reflect specific moments in time and illuminate our shared experiences and cultural events that mattered most around the globe,&#8221; Google said.
And while AI popped up a few times in Google’s &#8220;Year in Search,&#8221; the company does not currently publish a list of trending Gemini queries, which would highlight the searches in its chatbot.

The <a href="https://www.tennbeat.com/p/meet-the-aoc-of-tennessee-aftyn-behn">piece</a>, which calls the leftist lawmaker &#8220;the AOC of Tennessee,&#8221; charts Behn&#8217;s rise from University of Texas psychology student to &#8220;progressive community organizer.&#8221; Behn told Tennbeat that &#8220;during her senior year at the University of Texas, she interned at the Arc of Texas, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of persons with disabilities.&#8221;
The piece notes that Behn &#8220;developed talking points on disability policies for the state legislature&#8221; during that internship, giving her an early taste of political life that led her to spend the summer after graduation <a href="https://www.tennbeat.com/p/meet-the-aoc-of-tennessee-aftyn-behn">canvassing</a> for Rep. Behn attempted to walk her comments back after the video resurfaced earlier this month, <a href="https://www.facebook.com/AftynBehn4TN/videos/no-i-do-not-hate-the-city-i-represent-the-national-gops-new-attack-that-i-hate-n/762714846811103/">posting a video</a> titled &#8220;BREAKING: I DO NOT HATE NASHVILLE LOL.&#8221; It&#8217;s unclear whether Behn&#8217;s attempt to laugh the whole thing off was effective, however, because she was quickly hit with a succession of new scandals.

Behn declined to address those comments in a recent interview, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tennessee-democrat-aftyn-behn-wont-take-back-support-for-burning-down-police-stations?author=Lynden+Blake&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Tennessee+Democrat+Aftyn+Behn+Won%E2%80%99t+Take+Back+Support+For+Burning+Down+Police+Stations">saying</a>, “I’m not gonna engage in cable news talking points.”
Crime and policing are not the only areas where Behn has advocated radical views in the past. She claims that <a href="https://x.com/claytravis/status/1993319674352697755?s=42">men can give birth</a> and said that the murder of six children by a transgender-identifying gunman at the Covenant School in Tennessee made her more sympathetic to &#8220;trans communities&#8221; and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/democrat-aftyn-behn-said-covenant-shooting-made-her-fearful-for-trans-communities">inspired</a> her to &#8220;fight the far-right narrative that is being emanated by Matt Walsh and The Daily Wire.&#8221;
Those political positions may put Behn out of step with the state she&#8217;s running to represent. But they&#8217;re not shocking coming from a woman who says she got into politics after “immers[ing] herself in Austin’s Black Lives Matter movement&#8221; and who once consulted with the United Nations on a portfolio that included LGBT refugees.
With less than a week left before the special election, Behn may wish her radical past would stay in the past. But the revelations keep coming, often accompanied by video. One clip that resurfaced this week <a href="https://x.com/NicoleMSilverio/status/1993011789400097130?s=20">showed Behn crying</a> after being forcibly removed from Tennessee Governor Bill Lee&#8217;s office during a 2019 protest. And in another clip making the rounds this week, Behn reveals what she dreams about: power.

Melania walked from the White House to meet the tree delivery. She spoke to the handlers of the fir, which was grown at Korson’s Tree Farms in Michigan, named the National Grand Champion by the National Christmas Tree Association. She then wished the crowd a Merry Christmas before departing. It was a nice moment, and par for the course for our First Lady, who, unlike her Democratic predecessors, doesn&#8217;t like to spend a lot of time yapping with the press.
In other words, Melania was polite, inoffensive, and just the right amount of festive — so, naturally, the media were unhappy.
“It seems that Melania Trump has yet to warm up to the holiday spirit,” The Daily Beast<a href="https://www.thedailybeast.com/melania-trump-spends-two-minutes-and-50-seconds-at-christmas-event-before-fleeing/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> reported,</a> joking that this year’s White House Christmas decor “should be more minimal compared to years past, given the destruction of the White House’s East Wing, which typically housed the display.”
“<a href="https://www.thecut.com/article/melania-trump-receives-white-house-christmas-tree.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Melania Is Already Suffering Through Christmas</a>,” The Cut proclaimed, while The Daily Beast reported that “<a href="https://www.thedailybeast.com/melania-trump-spends-two-minutes-and-50-seconds-at-christmas-event-before-fleeing/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Grinch Melania Spends Two Minutes and 50 Seconds at Christmas Event Before Fleeing</a>.”
For context, the official White House video of the Christmas tree installation ceremony ran three minutes and seventeen seconds. Last year’s official video featuring former First Lady Jill Biden was four minutes and fifty-six seconds. The first ladies’ remarks were essentially identical.
Of course, The Daily Beast didn’t slam Jill Biden for the duration of her remarks last year or any other year. In 2022 their headline <a href="https://www.thedailybeast.com/jill-biden-unveils-2022-white-house-christmas-decorations/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">read</a> simply “Jill Biden Unveils 2022 White House Christmas Decorations.”
Nor did the Beast have anything to say about the White House Christmas <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/white-house-blasted-for-bizarre-freaky-christmas-video" target="_blank" rel="noopener">display</a> the Bidens forced on the nation their final year in office — a “bizarre,” “freaky,” and “cringey” performance by a New York City-based dance troupe that encourages support of groups like Black Lives Matter.
The publication, like the rest of the mainstream media, was also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jill-biden-trashed-for-getting-white-house-christmas-tree-from-farm-impacted-by-hurricane-helene" target="_blank" rel="noopener">silent</a> last year when Dr. Jill imposed upon a farm affected by Hurricane Helene for the White House Christmas Tree.
Naturally, though, several publications took this year’s ceremony to recall Melania’s 2018 decorations, which included a number of festive red trees that, for some reason, the entire internet chose to mock. Red trees, it seems, are creepy. But nightmare-inducing circus freaks are the perfect embodiment of, as the Biden White House called it last year, “A Season of Peace and Light.”
Melania wasn’t bothered by the coverage in 2018, and she seems unbothered by this year’s media reaction too. Days after the Christmas tree ceremony, the first lady joined her husband at the annual White House Turkey Pardon. While U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent offered some praise for New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani’s campaign, he didn’t hold back on the policies the young mayor-elect plans to implement in the Big Apple.   
Bessent, who was in the Oval Office last week during President Donald Trump’s meeting with Mamdani, noted that the ideas Mamdani championed have no record of success. 
“I can tell you my impression of the mayor-elect is he’s a young man with a lot of old ideas that have never worked,” Bessent told CNBC on Tuesday. “Point to one example where policies like his have led to anything other than a decline.” 
Bessent said on CNBC’s Squawk Box that he has respect for the campaign Mamdani ran. However, Bessent believes governing will test Mamdani in ways campaigning never did. “You’ve got to have some admiration for a candidate who ran a campaign the way he did. It was a great, great campaign,” The Treasury Secretary said. “But the practical everyday of keeping people safe, picking up the trash, making the subways run on time… we’ll see.” 
Bessent commended Trump for being open-minded and inviting Mamdani into the Oval Office. “[Mamdani] is clearly the leader of the Democratic Party now,” the Treasury Secretary concluded.

Mamdani has become the face of the Democratic Party’s ascendant socialist wing, even as top party leaders keep him at arm’s length. Bessent pointed out that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) never endorsed him and has not yet met with the socialist mayor-elect.
Schumer has <a href="https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2025/11/05/congress/chuck-schumer-zohran-mamdani-conversation-00637493">said</a> he has a good relationship with the NYC mayor-elect and believes Mamdani’s issue with affordability is “being stressed by Democrats across the country.” 
Bessent reiterated what he previously called the three main “drains” on affordability: “The three I’s: immigration, interest rates, and inflation.” According to Bessent, immigration pressures have eased as the Trump Administration has secured the border, interest rates have come down, and the administration is working to bring down inflation. 
On Tuesday, he suggested a “fourth I” has emerged. 
Bessent said the fourth drain on America’s affordability is “insanity on the Democratic side.” He pointed to last month’s government shutdown, triggered by a fight over extending Obamacare tax credits, and said that the country is now “on the eve” of another potential shutdown. Bessent said the last shutdown <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/meet-the-press/video/bessent-says-inflation-has-nothing-to-do-with-tariffs-as-u-s-rolls-them-back-full-interview-252749893525">caused</a> a “1.5% hit to GDP and $11 billion permanent hit.”

On Monday, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said that President Donald Trump faces a high-stakes decision: Where to draw the line on exporting American AI technology to China. 
“Is it more of a national security risk to give China some of these high-powered chips, or is it more of a national security risk to not have US tech in China?” Bloomberg anchor Lisa Abramowicz asked the commerce secretary in an <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4RfWh-1oNk">interview</a> on Monday.
“Well, that is the question &#8230; in front of the president,” Lutnick replied.  
As the commerce secretary, Lutnick oversees America’s export-control system. These rules regulate which sensitive technologies can be sold abroad. Nvidia’s AI chips have become a contentious part of that system. Lutnick explained that the President “decides whether to sell those chips or not, and then we will execute it however he decides to go forward.” 
Abramowicz pressed Lutnick specifically on whether the administration will allow Nvidia to sell its H200 AI chips to China. The H200 is not as advanced as the new Blackwell chips, which President Trump said <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/siladityaray/2025/11/03/trump-says-hell-allow-china-nvidia-deals-except-for-most-advanced-blackwell-chips/">will not be allowed for export</a>, but is more advanced than the H20 chips, which were <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2025/08/11/trump-nvidia-amd-china-chip-revenue-deal-implications.html?utm_source=chatgpt.com">approved for export earlier this year</a>. 
Some experts warn that allowing sales of H200 AI chips would go too far. 
Samuel Hammond, chief economist at the Foundation for American Innovation, told The Daily Wire,  “Permitting H200 exports to China would be a world-historic mistake. America’s current lead in AI would be radically diminished with very little show for it.” 
Hammond said the United States has an advantage, but it&#8217;s far from secure. “Our lead is incredibly fragile. China is massively outbuilding us on energy, leaving us vulnerable to being leapfrogged but for export controls,” he said. If export controls were lifted entirely, he warned, America’s <a href="https://ifp.org/the-b30a-decision/">computing advantage</a> would “quickly drop from nearly 30x to just 4x.”
President Trump’s AI Czar, David Sacks, emphasized this at the Salesforce Dreamforce <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzv3GixZL6g">conference</a> last month, stressing that the decision is far from straightforward. 
“What we ship to China is complicated,” Sacks said.
Under the current policy, only less advanced chips are exported. But Sacks noted that the fight in Washington is over where that line should be drawn. He said, “Some people want to draw that line very, very restrictively.&#8221; 
He argued that Washington’s mindset contrasts sharply with Silicon Valley’s, the place where Sacks built his career. 
“What Washington wants is control &#8230; The bureaucracies want to control these decisions. They want you to apply for a license and get their permission to do business,&#8221; he said. &#8220;If we let the bureaucracy win, we are going to kill American competitiveness all over the world.” 
Silicon Valley takes a different view. “Everyone in Silicon Valley understands that the way that you win a technology race is to have the biggest ecosystem &#8230; the most developers &#8230; the most apps in your app store,” he said. “You just want everybody to be building on top of your technology stack. And that&#8217;s what we want for the United States.” 
Sacks believes Trump’s approach to China should be nuanced. 
“I don’t think you want to sell China our latest and greatest chips because it would be too much of an advantage for them. But if you deprive them entirely, there are two issues with that.” 
First, the economies of the United States and China are linked through trade, Sacks said. “We saw that recently with the rare earths, where they cut us off and imposed new requirements on that. So as long as we need some things from China, we are going to have to reciprocate in some way.” 
Second, U.S. companies competing against China can weaken Chinese AI competitors such as Huawei, he continued. 
“China wants Huawei to scale up and dominate the Chinese market and then use that to then dominate the world market,” Sacks said. “And what Huawei would want is for all American chips to be banned in China so they can dominate that huge market for themselves.”
“I wouldn’t give them the latest and greatest,&#8221; he said, “but if we can take share away from Huawei with a less current chip, then that’s something I think we should consider doing.” 
President Trump <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115605897178712132">wrote</a> on Truth Social Monday that he talked to China&#8217;s President Xi Jinping, but did not directly mention Nvidia&#8217;s H200 chips. &#8220;We discussed many topics including Ukraine/Russia, Fentanyl, Soybeans, and other Farm Products, etc.”

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Sunday that the Trump administration’s economic strategy is centered on fixing “the three I&#8217;s: immigration, interest rates, and inflation,&#8221; adding that Americans are traumatized by Biden-era inflation.
“One thing we’re not going to do is what the Biden administration did — tell the American people they don’t know how they feel,” Bessent said. “They are traumatized by Biden-era inflation. We’ve slowed it, and we’re working very hard to bring it down.”
Bessent argued that immigration has been a major driver of high housing costs and wage stagnation. With the border closed and deportations underway, he expects home prices to fall and wages to rise. He pointed to October’s strong housing data as evidence, with home sales reaching their highest level in three years.
“The prices get better,” he said. “Energy prices, gasoline are down, we believe health care is going to come down. This will be the lowest cost for a Thanksgiving dinner in four years. Turkey prices are down 16%.”
While inflation ticked up to 3% from its 2.3% low earlier this year, Bessent insisted it remains under control. He noted that Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell has lowered interest rates by 0.50% this year and have another rate cut on the table for December.
Bessent credited the president’s peace agreements, tax reforms, and new trade deals as key drivers of future affordability. His remarks come days after Vice President JD Vance called on Americans to have “a little bit of patience” with the Trump administration’s economic strategy.

Recent criticism has focused on rising prices for certain food products. NBC’s Kristen Welker asked Scott Bessent if the administration’s rollback on tariffs proves Trump’s trade policies are raising consumer costs.
Bessent dismissed the argument, saying inflation “is a composite number” with many moving parts, meaning overall inflation can remain stable even as some products fluctuate. He predicted broader price declines once United States Trade Representative Jamieson Greer finalizes new agreements in Latin America.
He also pointed to last week’s rollback on tariffs for more than 200 food products as proof that the White House is “pushing down the prices they can control,” rejecting claims that tariffs hurt consumers.
“Some prices will come down in weeks, some in months,” he said.
With major trade deals nearing completion, foreign peace negotiations wrapping up, and the One Big, Beautiful Bill tax reforms in place, Bessent said he is “optimistic for 2026.”

Five years ago, as a state assemblyman, New York City mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani called to defund the police. Today, he supports funding the department, but not expanding its ranks, putting himself at odds with Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch’s repeated warnings.
&#8220;The reason I made the decision to retain commissioner Tisch is because of the importance of outcomes,” stated the 34-year-old New York City mayor-elect on Sunday&#8217;s &#8220;Meet the Press.&#8221; &#8220;The fact that she has been able to deliver on rooting out corruption while lowering crime is something to be celebrated, and I think the commissioner and I have been very clear that what brings us together is a shared importance of public safety &#8212; I think we can do that with the officers we have.&#8221;
Tisch, however, argues the very outcomes Mamdani retained her for happened &#8220;against all odds.&#8221;
&#8220;The crime reductions we saw last year were achieved against all odds and are entirely attributable to the hard work and the grit of New York&#8217;s finest,&#8221; she said in a January press conference. &#8220;The deck has been completely stacked against our cops.&#8221;
Tisch points to low staffing levels and a justice system that &#8220;prioritizes offenders over victims,&#8221; making officers’ jobs far more difficult. Her plan to sustain the city’s gains emphasizes hiring more police and confronting what she calls &#8220;surging recidivism,&#8221; which is when repeat offenders cycle through the system.
Alongside Mayor Eric Adams in November, Tisch supported a plan to fund 5,000 additional New York Police Department officers with a goal of reaching a 40,000-member force by fiscal year 2029.
Mamdani insists the force should stay at 35,000.

&#8220;I’ve said over the course of the campaign that I think the number we’ve had budgeted of 35,000 officers is a sufficient number,&#8221; he said. &#8220;What we have to do, however, is to allow those officers to focus on policing.&#8221;
Mamdani noted the New York Police Department responds to 200,000 mental health calls a year. He plans to build a Department of Community Safety and &#8220;task it with the mental health crisis, the homelessness crisis, and allow officers to focus on serious crimes&#8230;&#8221;
Tisch argues that lasting progress requires fixing legislation. &#8220;The key driving factor is the revolving door of our criminal justice system, created in large part by legislative changes that took effect in 2020.&#8221;
Tisch has repeatedly spotlighted high-profile cases of recidivism, including a career criminal who allegedly robbed a Queens deli at gunpoint before shooting a New York Police Department officer and an innocent bystander. The suspect had 17 prior arrests, many occurring while on lifetime parole.
&#8220;Imagine how disheartening it is for our cops to be out there arresting the same people for the same crimes in the same neighborhoods day after day,&#8221; the commissioner said.

Trump’s National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett recently said, &#8220;We are really reassured that [Mamdani has] kept the police commissioner. In previous administrations in New York, we have seen law and order really go South.&#8221;
