Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) joined the rest of the Democrats in skipping a Wednesday on the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic — but he also took it a step further, walking by while the hearing was going on and appearing to mock it.
Not one of the Democrats on the Senate Homeland Security &amp; Governmental Affairs Committee — to include Gallego — attended the hearing, where CIA whistleblower James Erdman III testified that Dr. Anthony Fauci had intentionally worked to cover up information regarding the pandemic&#8217;s origins.
But while most Democrats on the committee stayed away from the hearing entirely, Fox News Congressional Correspondent Bill Melugin reported that Gallego — accompanied by at least one staffer — walked by while the hearing was still ongoing.
&#8220;Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), who is on this committee, just walked by the hearing room and saw all the media cameras and said something along the lines of, &#8216;Wow, what’s going on here?&#8217; A staffer walking with him replied &#8216;I don’t know.&#8217; Unclear if they were trolling or not,&#8221; Melugin said in an <a href="https://x.com/BillMelugin_/status/2054574539611205713">X post</a>.
He later relayed the story to Fox News host Harris Faulkner, saying, &#8220;Senator Ruben Gallego, Democrat from Arizona, actually walked by us about 15 minutes ago. He saw the media cameras here, and we couldn’t tell if he was joking or trolling or not, but he said, &#8216;Hey, what’s going on here?&#8217; And his staffer said, &#8216;I don’t know,&#8217; and they walked past us. He is on that committee. He’s not in the room.&#8221;

Gallego has been under increased scrutiny of late because of his close ties to disgraced former Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) — who resigned after several accusations of sexual misconduct, harassment, and even rape — and has claimed that the former California congressman had succeeded in hiding his &#8220;double life&#8221; even when the two were roommates.
At the hearing Gallego and the other Democrats missed, Erdman laid out the complex web of experts — most of whom were previously linked to Fauci — who had worked to control what information was eventually revealed to the American people.
Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) called out the federal agencies that had a part in handling the information, saying they had essentially given &#8220;the big middle finger&#8221; to the American people by not being more transparent at the time.

Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) accused federal agencies of giving Americans &#8220;the big middle finger&#8221; in refusing to come forward with information concerning the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Johnson and other Republicans questioned a CIA whistleblower during a Wednesday hearing, who claimed in his opening statement that Dr. Anthony Fauci&#8217;s role in the COVID cover-up &#8220;was intentional.&#8221; Not a single Democrat attended the hearing.
James Erdman III appeared before the Senate Homeland Security &amp; Governmental Affairs Committee on Wednesday morning to testify on what the federal government did to hide information from the public on the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.

&#8220;Public health policy would be very different had the American public been made aware that a virus from a lab in China was going to serve as the foundation for an emergency-use authorization mRNA products being mandated by the former administration,&#8221; Erdman began, adding, &#8220;Dr. Fauci&#8217;s role in the cover-up was intentional.&#8221;
No Democrats showed up for the hearing on the CIA whistleblower&#8217;s revelations.
Erdman went on to describe how Fauci — who served as former President Joe Biden&#8217;s top COVID adviser — had been a part of the process at every level.
&#8220;Dr. Fauci influenced the analytical process and findings by leveraging his position to ensure that the IC (Intelligence Community) consulted with a conflicted list of curated subject-matter experts, public health officials, and scientists,&#8221; Erdman explained, arguing that Fauci&#8217;s influence controlled which sources of information were accepted as reliable — and by extension, controlled what information the public would ultimately see.
&#8220;This included some of the authors of the paper &#8216;The Proximal Origin of SARS-COV2&#8217; and other public health experts who have been in his orbit for the last 20-plus years,&#8221; he said.
Erdman went on to argue that Fauci operated almost entirely without &#8220;oversight&#8221; that might have held him accountable.
&#8220;There was no oversight monitoring how this web of relationships influenced research, policy, and public health any holistic way,&#8221; he said, adding that some of those involved had worked with Fauci years earlier to rewrite the accepted definition of &#8220;gain-of-function&#8221; research in order to open doors — and gain access to funding — to more dangerous research.

The United States Department of Justice announced on Tuesday that Dr. David Morens, once a top aide to Dr. Anthony Fauci, was indicted for his role in hiding data on the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Morens, according to a <a href="https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/former-senior-niaid-official-indicted-concealing-federal-records-during-covid-19-pandemic-0">press release</a> from the DOJ, was &#8220;charged with conspiracy against the United States; destruction, alteration, or falsification of records in federal investigations; concealment, removal, or mutilation of records; and aiding and abetting.&#8221;
Morens served as a top adviser in the NIAID’s (National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases) Office of the Director for 16 years, from 2006-2022 — where Fauci served as the director from 1984-2022.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche issued a statement on the indictment, saying, &#8220;These allegations represent a profound abuse of trust at a time when the American people needed it most — during the height of a global pandemic. As alleged in the indictment, Dr. Morens and his co-conspirators deliberately concealed information and falsified records in an effort to suppress alternative theories regarding the origins of COVID-19. Government officials have a solemn duty to provide honest, well-grounded facts and advice in service of the public interest — not to advance their own personal or ideological agendas.&#8221;
&#8220;Circumventing records protocols with the intention of avoiding transparency is something that will not be tolerated by this FBI,&#8221; FBI Director Kash Patel added in a separate statement. &#8220;Not only did Morens allegedly engage in the illegal obfuscation of his communications, but he received kickbacks for doing so. If you have engaged in activity conspiring against the United States, we will not stop until you face justice.&#8221;
At NIAID, much of the information the so-called &#8220;experts&#8221; had was funneled through channels that Morens either had access to or influence over, and the indictment alleges that he used that position to manipulate the data that eventually became public knowledge with regard to COVID-19 and its origins. Morens allegedly accomplished this in part by steering grant funding away from research that might support theories that strayed from the accepted narrative. He and others involved also allegedly conspired in writing to <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/05/22/us-news/explosive-emails-show-top-nih-adviser-deleted-records-used-secret-back-channels-to-help-fauci-ecohealth-evade-covid-transparency/">hide their efforts</a> to manipulate public data lest someone use the Freedom of Information Act to obtain access to it in the future.
&#8220;[I] learned from our foia [sic] lady here how to make emails disappear after I am foia’d [sic] but before the search starts,” Morens explained in a Feb. 24, 2021, email. &#8220;Plus I deleted most of those earlier emails after sending them to gmail [sic].&#8221;
“[T]here is no worry about FOIAs. I can either send stuff to Tony on his private gmail [sic], or hand it to him at work or at his house,” Morens wrote in April of 2021. “He is too smart to let colleagues send him stuff that could cause trouble.&#8221;
In another email sent the same year, he advised the addressees to only send such communications directly to his Gmail account to avoid the extra hassle of forwarding and deleting them from his official accounts.

According to the DOJ press release, Morens could face up to five years in prison for the charge of conspiracy against the United States — as well as up to 20 years on each count of destruction, alteration, or falsification of records in federal investigations. He could also face up to three years for each count of concealment, removal, or mutilation of records. His sentence, should he be convicted, would be determined by a federal judge following consultation of U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.
The case was investigated by the FBI in conjunction with the Office of the Inspector General for the Department of Health and Human Services, and will be prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Joseph R. Baldwin and Bijon A. Mostoufi for the District of Maryland.

Paul also shared a copy of a letter addressed to Fauci on September 9, referencing the emails in conjunction with his prior testimony — during which he claimed several times that he had not attempted to hide or delete any relevant information regarding the pandemic from Congress — and calling for him to testify again.

Paul included in the letter a list of documents that Fauci, 84, was to provide within two weeks, no later than 5 pm on September 23. In addition to emails, attachments, calls, texts, and voicemails, Paul requested all telephone numbers, messaging app usernames, and email addresses — whether government or private — that Fauci used between January 1, 2018, and January 1, 2023.
He followed the letter with additional X posts showing the emails in question.

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) said on Monday that he planned to &#8220;reissue&#8221; a criminal referral for Dr. Anthony Fauci and send it directly to President Donald Trump&#8217;s Justice Department.
Paul made the announcement via an X post after a New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/13/us/politics/biden-pardon-autopen-trump.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&amp;referringSource=articleShare">report</a> shed light on the number of pardons and commutations — supposedly issued by former President Joe Biden — that were signed with the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-admits-he-used-autopen-for-mass-criminal-pardons-says-he-didnt-review-every-case">autopen</a> at the direction of Biden&#8217;s Chief of Staff, Jeff Zients.
According to the NYT, a number of pardons — including so-called &#8220;preemptive&#8221; pardons for people like Fauci, retired General Mark Milley, and members of Biden&#8217;s family who had not actually been charged with crimes yet — were discussed at a meeting on January 19.

Paul has long held that Fauci intentionally <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trying-to-cover-your-a-rand-paul-charges-fauci-with-attempting-to-change-definition-of-gain-of-function-research">buried evidence</a> that the COVID-19 pandemic likely originated in a lab that specialized in gain-of-function research — and worked diligently to silence any in the scientific community who dared to dispute his repeated claim that it had developed naturally. The Biden administration was aware of potentially deadly side effects associated with COVID vaccines and chose not to alert the public about the risks for months, according to a bombshell Senate report obtained by The Daily Wire.
According to the report from the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, officials knew as early as February 2021 that the vaccines were associated with myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) and pericarditis (inflammation of the thin sac surrounding the heart). Still, they waited to warn the public until June as they pushed the vaccine on Americans. 
The report concludes that U.S. health officials &#8220;knew about the risks of myocarditis,&#8221; &#8220;downplayed the health concern,&#8221; and deliberately &#8220;delayed informing the public about the risk.&#8221;
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), who chairs the committee and will lead a hearing on it later this afternoon, told The Daily Wire that Biden officials delayed reporting the side effects because they were concerned about &#8220;vaccine hesitancy.&#8221; 
&#8220;But in being concerned about that, they violated the inviolable principle of informed consent,&#8221; Johnson said.

&#8220;The federal government was very well aware of the myocarditis signal, particularly in young men, as early as February [2021],&#8221; Johnson told The Daily Wire, adding that Israeli officials were informing the United States about side effects they were noticing.
In late February, a CDC official named Lauri Markowitz, who co-led the Vaccine Safety Technical Work Group (VaST), sent an email concerning the “draft minutes and summary report from the VaST call this week” and stressed that “all VaST documents and communications are confidential.”
According to that email, the call included an update about nearly 1,000 death reports to VAERS following vaccination. Notably, the email said that in the cases where cause of death was “known,” it was “often cardiovascular”:

Israel rolled out vaccinations quicker than the United States, so Israeli health officials saw adverse effects sooner.
The report states that the Israeli Ministry of Health notified Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) officials of “large reports of myocarditis, particularly in young people, following the administration of the Pfizer vaccine.”

Johnson said the report — &#8220;Failure to Warn: How Federal Health Agencies Downplayed the Risk of Myocarditis and Other Adverse Events Following COVID-19 Vaccination&#8221; — documents this apparent cover up in over 2,400 pages of attachments, which largely derive from Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.
&#8220;For a number of months, they were talking about these things. At some point in time, they actually internally said, &#8216;Is there a signal of myocarditis, a safety signal?&#8217; And the answer was &#8216;Yes,'&#8221; Johnson explained. &#8220;And yet, a couple of days later, they decided not to issue a warning on the Health Alert Network (HAN).&#8221;
&#8220;Rather than provide informed consent, the federal health agencies, the Biden administration, covered it up,&#8221; Johnson charged. &#8220;They downplayed the signals.&#8221;
The report notes that the Biden White House &#8220;distribut[ed] talking points to top U.S. health officials,&#8221; including National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci, downplaying the risk of myocarditis:

Gain-of-function research — in which viruses are enhanced by scientists, often to study potential treatments or prepare for future outbreaks — has become a major focus of the lab leak theory <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cia-assesses-chinese-lab-leak-responsible-for-coronavirus-pandemic" target="_blank" rel="noopener">increasingly</a> favored by U.S. agencies.
Last year, the federal government <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hhs-moves-to-defund-ecohealth-alliance-says-action-needed-to-protect-the-public-interest" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suspended</a> funds to EcoHealth Alliance, a U.S.-based nonprofit group that was receiving <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/15/health/ecohealth-alliance-peter-daszak-nih-grants.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">millions</a> of dollars in grant money as it faced intense scrutiny for its collaboration with a lab in Wuhan, China, suspected in the COVID outbreak.
Dr. Anthony Fauci denied under oath that NIH funded gain-of-function research in Wuhan, but he did not convince Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who accused the longtime health official of lying to Congress with a criminal <a href="https://x.com/RandPaul/status/1685370259451109376" target="_blank" rel="noopener">referral</a> to the Department of Justice.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard on Wednesday called for the United States to stop funding gain-of-function research at biolabs around the world.
Gabbard made the comments during an interview with podcast host Megyn Kelly, as they discussed the likelihood that the United States directly funded the research that led to the creation of COVID-19 and the state of the ongoing probe into the lab leak that released the virus. It is now widely accepted by American officials that a lab leak stemming from gain-of-function research triggered the 2020 pandemic.
“The reason why this is so important is not just what has happened in the past, it&#8217;s because this gain-of-function is happening in biolabs around the world,” Gabbard <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMKTSYxto_Y" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>, pointing to her previous warnings about U.S.-funded biolabs in Ukraine.
“In order to prevent another COVID-like pandemic or another major health incident that could effect us in the world, we have to end this gain-of-function research and provide the evidence that shows exactly why and how it’s in our best interests, the American people’s best interest, to bring an end to it,” she added.
Gain-of-function research is a process in which scientists genetically alter an organism to study how it responds under specific conditions. It can involve increasing transmissibility, virulence, and other characteristics of a pathogen.
Gabbard did not specifically name which American-funded labs she said were performing gain-of-function research.
Gabbard told Kelly that she still had an intelligence team working with National Institutes of Health Director Jay Bhattacharya and Health and Human Services Director Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to investigate direct links between U.S.-funded gain-of-function research in Wuhan, China, and the pandemic.
Kelly asked when the public could expect to find out the &#8220;exact experiment&#8221; that led to COVID. Gabbard replied that her team was working on it with Bhattacharya and would release the information &#8220;hopefully very soon.&#8221;
Based on the increasing consensus that the lab leak was the cause, Gabbard said she was not surprised that Dr. Anthony Fauci had been pardoned preemptively as President Joe Biden left office. “Is it any wonder that he sought a preemptive pardon for anything during a certain period of time by President Biden before he left office?” she said.
In May 2021, Fauci <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2021/07/20/if-anybody-is-lying-here-senator-it-is-you-fauci-tells-sen-paul-in-heated-exchange-at-senate-hearing.html">said</a> that the NIH “has not ever and does not now fund gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.” However, later evidence from the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic determined that the EcoHealth Alliance used NIH dollars to fund gain-of-function research in Wuhan. EcoHealth is currently under investigation by the Justice Department and has been barred from receiving any further federal grant dollars.
Gabbard said that much of the research her team has conducted can be found at <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/lab-leak-true-origins-of-covid-19/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">COVID.gov</a>, where the Trump administration has compiled a page explaining how the coronavirus is believed to have originated in a Chinese lab.
In addition to the COVID investigation, Gabbard said that her team was looking at other instances of the United States funding &#8220;dangerous&#8221; gain-of-function research that &#8220;in many examples has resulted in either a pandemic or some other major health crisis.”

Anyone who went to COVID.gov on Friday hoping to find information about where to get their 10th booster was in for a big shock.
The website, created by the Biden administration to spread information about vaccines and other government COVID policies, now <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/lab-leak-true-origins-of-covid-19/">redirects to a page</a> explaining how the coronavirus originated in a Chinese lab.
&#8220;LAB LEAK: The True Origins of COVID-19&#8221; walks readers through the pandemic&#8217;s origins and exposes Dr. Anthony Fauci and other government officials who attempted to discredit the now-vindicated lab leak theory. The website explains how the coronavirus likely originated at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, where a group called EcoHealth &#8220;used U.S. taxpayer dollars to facilitate dangerous gain-of-function research.&#8221;
Democrats and the mainstream media long dismissed this theory as a &#8220;conspiracy&#8221; and actively pushed a different narrative.
“&#8217;The Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2&#8242; publication — which was used repeatedly by public health officials and the media to discredit the lab leak theory — was prompted by Dr. Fauci to push the preferred narrative that COVID-19 originated naturally,&#8221; the website says. &#8220;By nearly all measures of science, if there was evidence of a natural origin it would have already surfaced. But it hasn’t.&#8221;
&#8220;The American people deserve to know the truth about the Covid pandemic and we will always find ways to reach communities with that message,&#8221; a senior Trump administration official told Fox News.
The website makes the case against various government COVID recommendations, including mask mandates, lockdowns, and social distancing.
&#8220;There was no conclusive evidence that masks effectively protected Americans from COVID-19,&#8221; the website states. &#8220;Prolonged lockdowns caused immeasurable harm to not only the American economy, but also to the mental and physical health of Americans, with a particularly negative effect on younger citizens.&#8221;
It devotes an entire section to &#8220;New York Pandemic Failures,&#8221; which explains that then-Governor Andrew Cuomo and his administration &#8220;worked to cover up the tragic aftermath of their policy decisions in an apparent effort to shield themselves from accountability.&#8221;

In addition to Cuomo, the website singles out Fauci for claiming that the coronavirus &#8220;just sort of appeared,&#8221; and notes that Biden granted Fauci a &#8220;full and unconditional pardon&#8221; shortly before leaving office.

A government watchdog is sounding the alarm on former President Joe Biden&#8217;s liberal use of an autopen to sign official documents, saying it raises concerns about who controlled the presidency, given Biden&#8217;s cognitive decline.
Biden pardoned six criminals on December 30, 2022, with the &#8220;exact same autopen signature&#8221; while the president was vacationing and golfing in the U.S. Virgin Islands, according to the Heritage Foundation&#8217;s Oversight Project.
&#8220;Note they all say they are &#8216;Signed in the City of Washington,'&#8221; the Oversight Project posted on X.
Around the same time, an omnibus spending bill was flown to Biden in the Virgin Islands to sign, but the pardons all appear to be signed by autopen, the watchdog said.
&#8220;Whoever controlled the autopen controlled the presidency,&#8221; the Oversight Project said.

Some prominent documents, including Hunter Biden&#8217;s pardon and Biden&#8217;s announcement that he was dropping out of the presidential race, appear to be hand signed, the watchdog found.
However, several other controversial pardons, including those for Dr. Anthony Fauci, General Mark Milley, the January 6 committee, and other Biden family members, were all signed with the same autopen signature, Kyle Brosnan, chief counsel for the Oversight Project told The Daily Wire.
Brosnan said that using the autopen to sign presidential pardons is particularly &#8220;troubling&#8221; since the authority to issue them rests solely with the president as a &#8220;constitutional principle.&#8221;
&#8220;You have to look at it in the context of President Biden&#8217;s mental decline,&#8221; Brosnan said, noting that Special Counsel Robert Hur&#8217;s report last year <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/4456879-special-counsel-describes-biden-as-elderly-man-with-a-poor-memory-in-eye-raising-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">called</a> Biden an &#8220;elderly man with a poor memory.&#8221;
&#8220;I think we all saw with our own eyes his mental and physical deterioration over the course of his presidency,&#8221; Brosnan said. &#8220;There&#8217;s article after article that comes out showing how the Biden administration and his staff shielded him from public view, retinkered his schedule throughout the presidency, tried to script even what reporters he was calling on at press conferences, and that volume of evidence shows that President Biden wasn&#8217;t really running the White House. It was the staff. So if he&#8217;s not hand-signing these legally operative documents like pardons or even bills into law, that raises another question.&#8221;
The Justice Department should look into what the autopen policies of the previous White House were, whether certain individuals were authorized to operate the autopen, and what the approval process for affixing a signature looked like, Brosnan said.
&#8220;We need to figure out who was actually running the country for the last four years,&#8221; Brosnan said.
Brosnan said any legal cases against Biden&#8217;s signatures are still hypothetical, but he pointed to the questions around Chad Wolf&#8217;s status as acting homeland security secretary back in 2020, which resulted in a judge ruling that some of Wolf&#8217;s actions cracking down on illegal immigration were unlawful.

Hollywood star Woody Harrelson torched Dr. Anthony Fauci, former Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and said Fauci has done some “extraordinary evil s**t” and knows it.
During his recent appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience” <a href="https://x.com/CollinRugg/status/1893765243815526484">podcast</a>, the 63-year-old actor and host both said they were hopeful that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — who has been sworn in as President Donald Trump’s Secretary of Health and Human Services — could right some of the wrongs they attributed to Fauci.
“Bobby (RFK Jr.), I really hope he’s able to do some good because he’s certainly a man on a mission,” Harrelson said. “And a man who cares deeply. And I think really heroic how much he stood up for things that he didn’t need to talk about … he just took one arrow after the other over it.”
Rogan admitted he once bought into the “propaganda” against Kennedy and said that he too used to think RFK Jr. was a “kook.” He said then he read his book “The Real Anthony Fauci: Bill Gates, Big Pharma, and the Global War on Democracy and Public Health (Children’s Health Defense)” and changed his mind.

The podcast host pointed out that the Matthew McConaughey movie “Dallas Buyers Club” dealt with the AIDS epidemic — and said that the villain in the movie was based on Fauci.
“That was about people trying to seek alternative treatments to deal with AIDS … that’s Fauci, that’s AZT,” Rogan said. “Magic Johnson got on AZT and it was killing him and he got off of it.”
Harrelson pointed out that Johnson is still alive, suggesting it was because he stopped taking the drug.

“The Trump administration has cancelled Dr. Anthony Fauci&#8217;s security detail. Dr. Fauci has now hired his own security detail, according to a source familiar with the situation,” ABC News Chief Washington Correspondent Jon Karl <a href="https://x.com/jonkarl/status/1882833396629647382?s=46&amp;t=o-U3qwC25WnWaylJ0oeG7Q">reported</a>.
When a reporter asked about the decision, Trump <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2025/01/24/politics/video/california-voter-id-disaster-aid-trump-digvid" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stated</a>, “I think when you work for government, at some point your security detail comes off. And y’know, you can’t have ‘em forever. So I think it’s very standard. If it would be for somebody else, you wouldn’t be asking the question.”
“The question is very fair, but y’know, you work for government; we took some off for other people, too,” he continued. “But you can’t have a security detail for the rest of your life because you worked for the government. &#8230; They all made a lot of money; they can hire their own security people, too.”
“A person familiar with the situation said Dr. Fauci had done just that, and now had his own security detail,” The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/01/24/us/politics/fauci-security-protection.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. “Dr. Fauci did not have Secret Service protection; he was protected by federal marshals and later by a private contractor whose fees were paid by the government, according to a spokeswoman for the U.S. Marshals Service.”
After the preemptive pardon former President Biden gave Fauci was slammed, Fauci retorted, “Let me be perfectly clear. I have committed no crime and there are no possible grounds for any allegation or threat of criminal investigation or prosecution of me.”
