Nick Shirley is 24 years old. He is not a network correspondent with a corner office and a team of researchers. He is a self-made journalist with a camera, a nose for fraud, and the audacity to follow money that powerful people didn&#8217;t want followed.
For that, they nearly killed him.
In December 2025, Shirley released a viral investigation into Minnesota&#8217;s child care system; empty rooms, blacked-out windows, misspelled signs, ghost daycares enrolling impossible numbers of children while collecting millions in taxpayer money. He showed the world what anyone with working eyes could see: something was catastrophically wrong.
These children were not “learing” at daycare. They weren’t even real.
We weren’t supposed to notice. The response from the liberal media was swift and vicious.
CNN <a href="https://x.com/i/status/2006033958694162569">reported</a> that Somalis were &#8220;under attack.&#8221; The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/01/11/us/somalis-fled-civil-war-and-built-a-community-now-they-are-a-target.html">said</a> the community was being targeted. Governor Tim Walz, the same man who presided over one of the most staggering fraud collapses in American welfare history, <a href="https://x.com/i/status/2005704124617155069">called</a> Nick Shirley&#8217;s investigative journalism &#8220;white supremacy.&#8221; Shirley was doxxed. Death threats <a href="https://x.com/nickshirleyy/status/2048879006947368977">arrived</a> complete with a location, a date, and a time.
On April 27, Nick recorded a <a href="https://x.com/i/status/2048874797766185022">video</a>. &#8220;Today is the day I&#8217;m supposed to die,&#8221; he said.
He is alive and well, and this week vindicated in the most definitive way possible.
On May 21, 2026, the FBI and Department of Justice <a href="https://x.com/search?q=nick%20shirley&amp;src=typed_query">announced</a> charges against 15 individuals in schemes totaling over $90 million in intended losses across Minnesota&#8217;s public health programs, the two largest Medicaid fraud cases ever charged in the district, and the largest autism-related fraud scheme the DOJ has ever prosecuted. Vice President JD Vance, chairing the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, could finally say what we already knew to be true: Nick Shirley was right.
The charges read like a catalog of the rot that Shirley, journalist <a href="https://www.city-journal.org/article/city-journal-daily-newsletter-nov-20-2025">Chris Rufo</a>, the Daily Wire’s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/inside-ohios-home-health-empire-7-buildings-288-medicaid-companies-250-million?author=Luke+Rosiak&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=4&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Inside+Ohio%E2%80%99s+Home+Health+Empire%3A+7+Buildings%2C+288+Medicaid+Companies%2C+%24250+Million">Luke Rosiak</a>, and others had been documenting for months. The Early Intensive Developmental and Behavioral Intervention autism program — which exploded from roughly $600,000 in claims in 2018 to hundreds of millions in recent years — was being systematically looted. Clinic operators paid kickbacks of $300 to $1,500 per child per month to parents in exchange for fraudulent autism diagnoses. Medicaid was then billed for therapy sessions that never happened. Children who genuinely needed services were crowded out by a machine built entirely to steal.
The Housing Stabilization Services program — projected to cost $2.5 million annually when it launched — ballooned to $104 million before the state was forced to shut it down entirely, stranding the disabled and homeless people it was designed to serve. One of the cases charged this week involves a man who required 24-hour care. He received nothing. He was found dead. The day before he died, his provider billed Medicaid for services that, if actually rendered, might have kept him alive.
That is not bureaucratic inefficiency. That’s predation.
The same week the indictments dropped, the ringleader of the $250 million Feeding Our Future scandal, a separate but connected fraud web involving fake meal counts, fabricated invoices, and luxury real estate purchases, was sentenced to over 40 years in federal prison.
This is all just the tip of the iceberg. Luckily, Shirley saw that iceberg before the Titanic America could hit it. He pointed it out, filmed it, published it, and for roughly five months, the media told you he was the problem.
This is the playbook, and by now we should all recognize it. When someone follows the money and the money leads somewhere uncomfortable, the response isn&#8217;t accountability; it’s accusation.
Racists and Bigots and White supremacists! Oh My!
The smear is deployed not to refute the evidence but to raise the cost of noticing it. Make the journalist the story. Give the fraudsters victim status. Make the public feel crazy for believing what&#8217;s in front of their own eyes.
They made you feel crazy for refusing to wear an N-95 mask in an outdoor park, for refusing a vaccine, for wanting to keep your own money, and for voting for a pragmatic businessman instead of an establishment Democrat. Then they literally shot that businessman turned president, and tried to kill him again and again. They made you feel crazy for caring.
They made Nick feel crazy, his audience feel crazy, and all along, the empty rooms were empty, the kids didn&#8217;t exist, and the money was going to luxury cars, lavish homes, and remittances wired through informal hawala networks back to <a href="https://www.city-journal.org/article/city-journal-daily-newsletter-nov-20-2025">Somalia</a> instead of to the sick children and vulnerable adults it was meant to serve. Federal sources have alleged some of those funds found their way to al-Shabaab. Not a conspiracy theory. A federal allegation.
The media won&#8217;t give Nick Shirley a Peabody. They will never say they were wrong. But the FBI executed warrants at roughly 20 locations. The DOJ unsealed the charges. JD Vance said his name on camera, thereby vindicating him. That will have to do.
The Democratic establishment of 2026 is a gaslighting ex who swears the stove isn&#8217;t on, the money isn&#8217;t gone, and the kids are fine. Spoiler: the stove is on. The money is in Somalia. The kids weren&#8217;t real.
The restraining order is called a ballot. Use it.

It&#8217;s 1963 again, according to Democrats. We&#8217;re all living in the neo-Jim Crow era, and if you&#8217;re silent, you&#8217;re complicit. At least that&#8217;s what the Left, Hollywood, and woke women are trying to tell you. 
 
Race is all they seem to care about these days. &#8220;The View&#8221; host Sunny Hostin is <a href="https://x.com/NickFondacaro/status/2057149850186133740">telling</a> folks that black athletes should boycott scholarships at Southern public universities to fight redistricting. Former Squad member Ayanna Pressley is <a href="https://x.com/EndWokeness/status/2057194859568517440">demanding</a> reparations, again, for the nefarious chattel enslavement of black Americans that no living person in this country participated in. And Democratic leaders and white ladies are squawking about Jim Crow and demanding a color-20/20 vision society. 
 
Who&#8217;s going to tell them that it&#8217;s the Left that is acting racist and making it worse for the very people they claim to champion? All of these partisan power punches in the name of &#8220;helping&#8221; consistently end up hurting. This latest SEC boycott scheme would hurt young black athletes most of all. Reparations are tired and ineffective, and Democrats have spent the better part of the last century figuring out new ways to keep them on the plantation. It is time they get out of the way.
Hostin and her View co-hosts could barely contain their glee over House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and the NAACP&#8217;s plan to have black athletes boycott scholarships at Southern public universities in states like Alabama, Florida, and Georgia, which could inflict &#8220;economic damage and economic harm&#8221; on the South over redistricting. Cloudy Hostin proudly calls for these athletic protests as an effective civil rights tool. I call it rich, bored women playing revolutionary on someone else&#8217;s dime.
And someone else’s future.
Young black athletes are disproportionately the ones who land these scholarships and NIL deals in revenue sports. For many, it&#8217;s the only realistic ladder to a degree and a shot at a professional career. Walking away means lost education, lost earnings, lost exposure, and lost dreams. The same people who spent years telling kids the system was rigged against them are now telling them to burn their own escape hatch because the table-talkers didn&#8217;t get their way.
Hostin, whose own family owned <a href="https://people.com/finding-your-roots-sunny-hostin-ancestors-owned-slaves-8559901">slaves</a>, is urging black men to sacrifice their futures so she can feel morally superior on television.

Meanwhile, they&#8217;re hoping you don&#8217;t look too closely at the Tennessee redistricting situation they&#8217;re clutching their pearls over because the new Republican-drawn maps could result in the first woman of color being elected to Congress in the state.
All performative. Except the SEC and universities know better than to play along. Life-changing opportunities aren&#8217;t poker chips for D.C. politicians and daytime TV hosts to gamble with. Athletes have agents, families, futures to protect, and real games to win.
Then there&#8217;s Ayanna Pressley, still out there yelling into the wind about how every bit of prosperity &#8220;we&#8221; enjoy was built on black backs, so reparations are in order!
Poor thing is trying to stay relevant. Unfortunately, race-baiting alone doesn&#8217;t move the needle for Democrats anymore. To stay relevant, she&#8217;d need to go full communist and start endorsing terrorism.
Handing large lump sums of cash to people does not grow wealth over time. It&#8217;s a one-time transfer that gets spent, divided, or litigated into oblivion. Who pays? Who receives? Newsflash — nobody alive today was a slave owner or chattel slave in the American South. Many black Americans owned slaves. Many white Americans did not.
Reparations are deeply unpopular, economically illiterate, and socially poisonous, but figures like her and California Governor Gavin Newsom care <a href="https://www.gov.ca.gov/2024/09/26/governor-newsom-signs-california-legislative-black-caucus-priority-bills-including-a-formal-bipartisan-apology-for-the-states-role-in-slavery/">not</a> about practicality. They care about virtue-signaling.
Black families are struggling on multiple fronts that have nothing to do with 1865. Around <a href="https://www.aecf.org/blog/child-well-being-in-single-parent-families">64%</a> of black children live in single-parent homes. Abortion rates in black communities are <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/73/ss/ss7307a1.htm">4-5</a> times higher than white women. Poverty and welfare dependency persist in <a href="https://riosmauricio.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Wealth-Poverty-and-Politics-by-Thomas-Sowell.pdf">patterns</a> that track with family structure and culture. Not distant history.
The welfare state that exploded after LBJ&#8217;s Great Society correlated <a href="https://www.heritage.org/marriage-and-family/report/saving-america-saving-the-family-foundation-the-next-250-years">directly</a> with the breakdown of two-parent households that had been rising for decades prior. What started as a political project to lock in votes has become a generational handicap. Useful idiots like Pressley keep the cycle alive by blaming everything on ghosts instead of asking what actually moves the needle today: strong families, education, work, and personal responsibility.
Though to be fair, this is the same brain trust that produced Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, who recently surveyed the crack pipes and mental illness slathered amid her streets and <a href="https://x.com/i/status/2054541497534488770">concluded</a> that what these people really needed was a government dental plan. Ingenious.
What would actually solve problems? Color-blind standards. Merit. The same principles that animated Abraham Lincoln and the Republican Party are still alive today. As Wesley Hunt recently <a href="https://x.com/i/status/2050073980820656469">reiterated</a>: get elected because you&#8217;re good, not because you check a box.
History is not as complicated as the revisionists pretend. The Republican Party was <a href="https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/march-20/republican-party-founded">founded</a> in opposition to the expansion of slavery. The vast majority of votes to pass the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments came from Republicans. The <a href="https://history.house.gov/baic/">first</a> black members of Congress were Republicans. Lincoln wanted to free black Americans and let them stand on their own, not keep them tethered to government favor.
As Dinesh D’Souza’s Death of a Nation explains, the Democrat Party’s long history of racial control, from slavery and Jim Crow to the political machines that replaced them, did not magically flip in the 1960s. The strategy simply evolved. Instead of poll taxes and literacy tests, we now see the Democrat Party offering dependency and grievance. Their goal is the same as it always has been: keep a reliable voting bloc on the urban plantation.
Republicans have consistently argued for the same thing from Lincoln forward: individual liberty, equal protection under the law, and the chance to rise or fall on your own merits. Democrats have spent the modern era perfecting the opposite: identity as destiny, government as savior, and anyone who objects labeled a racist bigot.
We are not living in Jim Crow. We are living with race problems <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/no-red-states-no-blue-states-just-blood?row=0&amp;elementPosition=4&amp;rowType=Web+Search">stoked</a> by Barack Obama and the institutional Left that followed. They inject identity into everything, normalize viewing political opponents as existential threats, and act shocked when the temperature boils over.
&#8220;The View,&#8221; the NAACP, and Hakeem Jeffries need to stop treating young black athletes like disposable pawns in their theater, Ayanna Pressley can retire or radicalize into full communism (that&#8217;s her only path forward), and the Left can leave the SEC alone. Leave athletes alone. Let people compete, achieve, and live as individuals instead of avatars in someone else&#8217;s grievance campaign.

Platner is currently in hot water for posting about masturbating in porta-potties and gushing over graffiti of the male genitalia.

If the name Graham Platner sounds familiar, it&#8217;s because we all know and hate him <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/maine-senate-candidate-downplays-ss-skull-tattoo-i-am-not-a-secret-nazi">as</a> the &#8220;guy with the Nazi tattoo.&#8221; He has since covered up his Totenkopf, the &#8220;death&#8217;s head&#8221; symbol used by the Nazi SS, but the image has already been seared into our brains.
Even if Mainers could look past the blue-eyed, blond-haired, supposed Jew-hater having that particular piece of skin art, they&#8217;d still have to clear a few other <a href="https://archive.ph/ifBMa">hurdles</a>. Platner called himself a &#8220;communist&#8221; in 2021, declared &#8220;all cops&#8221; were bastards that same year, and used anti-gay slurs in 2018. His high school yearbook named him &#8220;most likely to start a revolution.&#8221; Last week, he <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/05/16/magazine/graham-platner-interview.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share">told</a> the New York Times, &#8220;We need a political revolution in this country.&#8221; Some things never change.
The cherry on top: in 2019, Platner <a href="https://x.com/magi_jay/status/2056550688818098395?s=20">posted</a> a chilling response to a video of American soldier and father of two Ted Daniels being wounded by the Taliban gunfire:

VoteVets, the most influential Democrat-aligned veterans’ political organization, <a href="https://votevets.org/press-releases/votevets-pac-endorses-graham-platner-in-maine-u-s-senate-race">backed</a> him even after those anti-military comments surfaced. This isn&#8217;t a glitch. This is the feature.
That does it, Platten that Graham Cracker like a pancake — in the polls.
He can <a href="https://x.com/i/status/2055696604925927473">call</a> conservatives &#8220;fascists&#8221; and white rural <a href="https://mainemorningstar.com/2025/10/17/unearthed-reddit-comments-present-first-stumble-in-platners-rise/">Americans</a> &#8220;racist&#8221; and &#8220;stupid.&#8221; We&#8217;re used to that, but cheering a soldier&#8217;s death at the hands of the Taliban is another matter entirely, and apparently, for the Democratic machine, not even a dealbreaker.
And they say Republicans are extreme?
What exactly does this character stand erect for besides phallic art and blue porta-potty water? He&#8217;s <a href="https://x.com/i/status/2056042288896262497" target="_blank" rel="noopener">furious</a> America spent billions of dollars on the Iran war and isn&#8217;t &#8220;talking about healthcare.&#8221; A man who relishes the thought of a wounded American soldier wants to manage your healthcare. The United States already spends $5.8 trillion on it annually. The <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/04/08/us-news/operation-epic-fury-military-success-in-iran-by-the-numbers/">military</a> consumes only 3% of GDP, and less than 10% of that went to Operation Epic Fury. His platform is the progressive greatest hits: higher taxes, bigger unions, more immigration, larger government, and less enforcement of the rule of law.
His opponent, Senator Susan Collins, the longest-serving female Republican in the Senate and the only GOP member of Congress from New England, has spent decades legislating on behalf of moderate, everyday folk. As the Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Collins has delivered real results for Maine: federal funding, bipartisan legislation, and a temperament that doesn&#8217;t include cheering Taliban marksmanship. Losing her seat doesn&#8217;t just flip a vote; it hands the Left a gavel.
We get it, Platner. You&#8217;re angry at the world, and apparently at yourself. You&#8217;re seething with unprocessed trauma and expressing it through grotesque, sexualized hatred. We appreciate your service and genuinely hope you get the help you need, but that help won’t come from leading 1.4 million people, more than half of whom you likely despise based on their race, gender, religion, or ethnicity. Let’s stop rewarding insanity with power and condemn these insane behaviors to small, uninfluential dark chambers.
His primary win in June is all but certain after Gov. Janet Mills dropped out, which shows how full steam ahead the Democrat train is heading toward crazy town. It’s becoming more and more obvious that the Left has a type: unhinged, radical, and propped up by the full weight of the progressive establishment.
Theater kids in Congress were quaint. What the Left is fielding now is a communist with a covered SS tattoo, a porta-potty fetish, and open contempt for the troops his party pretends to honor.
Maine doesn&#8217;t need a revolution; it needs normalcy. It needs Susan Collins.

Meet the self-proclaimed &#8220;<a href="https://www.instagram.com/themangionistas/">Mangionistas</a>&#8220;: Abril Rios, Ashley Rojas, and Lena Weissbrot. Three young women who have apparently fallen head over heels for the man accused of executing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in cold blood on a Midtown Manhattan sidewalk on December 4, 2024. A father of two was shot in the back while walking to an investor conference. For months, the trio has been posting trial updates, churning out &#8220;Free Luigi&#8221; content, and calling for jury nullification through thirst traps and anti-corporate screeds.
New York City&#8217;s socialist mayor, Zohran Mamdani, handed them <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/05/18/us-news/luigi-mangione-reporters-unapologetically-celebrate-ceos-assassination-fk-brian-thompson/?utm_campaign=nypost&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter">lanyards</a> to do it.
Under the city&#8217;s newly relaxed &#8220;indie creator&#8221; credentialing rules, you qualify for a press pass if you&#8217;ve posted six or more pieces of content about a breaking news event. Six posts. Low bar. So Abril Rios, self-described &#8220;Hot Girl for Zohran&#8221; and proud Mangionista, walked up to the courthouse covering a murder trial for a man she openly worships, press pass dangling from her neck. Same for Ashley Rojas, who bills herself as a &#8220;writer,&#8221; and Lena Weissbrot: Self-described game developer, rapper performing under the stage name &#8220;Fellatia G,&#8221; and the owner of an online wishlist that includes a bulletproof helmet, body armor, and a 3D printer. Just normal press corps stuff.
Outside the courthouse Monday, Rojas looked into a camera and said, city-issued credential swinging from her neck: “I’m standing on business: f*ck Brian Thompson. I don’t give a flying f*ck he died. F*ck Brian Thompson. F*ck his mom.”
Weissbrot donning a neon green, pink, and purple striped costume and sporting pigtails added coldly that Thompson&#8217;s teenage sons &#8220;are better off without him&#8221; and should &#8220;enjoy the blood money.&#8221; Then she drew a slow finger across her throat and said his name.
Rios, chomping gum, wondered aloud why the Second Amendment exists if not to &#8220;shoot up schools,&#8221; before turning to the camera and informing the president of the United States: &#8220;Trump, I&#8217;m coming for you, baby.&#8221;
What lovely, classy, tolerant women New York City is churning out these days.
On Instagram, Weissbrot <a href="https://www.instagram.com/fellatiag/">posted</a> a lengthy caption beneath a photo of herself in her Luigi costume, which included the following disclaimer: &#8220;I condemn all violence by all people of all time in perpetuity forever.&#8221; Beautiful.
She then spent the rest of the caption calling the American healthcare system &#8220;a slaughter house,&#8221; declaring that whoever killed Brian Thompson is a “hero,&#8221; and arguing that people have the right to violence when they feel threatened and the threat &#8220;refuses to stop.&#8221;
So: violence condemned, permanently, universally. Unless the target is someone you&#8217;ve decided deserves it. The permission structure for murder, it turns out, has a very low bar on the <a href="https://yougov.com/en-us/articles/52960-charlie-kirk-americans-political-violence-poll">Left</a>. Especially for “hot” girls for Zohran, who are quite “hot” for “heroic violence.”
As a society, we should be pointing at and shaming these people. But instead of condemning this dangerous and frightening behavior, mentally ill women have been given a megaphone.
Besides abiding by a moral code reads something like: “Thou shall do whatever the f*ck thou wants to people who disagree with thou. Murder is cool if it’s against someone uncool. Stand on business, Queen,” they’re also just wholeheartedly wrong on the merits.
They claimed, with apparent sincerity, that Brian Thompson personally killed more people than Osama bin Laden. First: if Bin Laden were somehow in a courtroom today, something tells me these women would be posting thirst traps for him too. Second: this is simply deranged. Total U.S. deaths run roughly 3.1 million annually. The leading killers are heart disease, cancer, and accidents, not claim denials. American private insurance, for all its flaws, has driven the medical innovation that gives the U.S. some of the highest cancer survival rates in the world. Brian Thompson started with next to nothing, spent over two decades rising through UnitedHealth Group, and built a life. He did not deserve to be shot from behind. His sons did not deserve to lose their father. His wife did not deserve to be widowed.
But facts are irrelevant here, because the Mangionistas don&#8217;t want solutions. They want blood, and they want it to be aesthetically pleasing on their feeds.
There&#8217;s a clinical name for this: Hybristophilia, a romantic or sexual attraction to violent criminals, is a well-documented, overwhelmingly female phenomenon. Social media, true-crime TikTok, and the romanticization of the &#8220;dangerous misunderstood man&#8221; have turbocharged it. Add weaponized female empathy, an anti-corporate ideology that teaches generations that billionaires are the real terrorists, and platforms that reward outrage over accuracy, and you get a press-badged ghoul telling a dead man&#8217;s kids to enjoy the blood money.
This is not a few bad apples, and the data bears that out. Affective polarization is at a record high. At least 41% of Americans aged 18–29 <a href="https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/5044269-poll-finds-41-percent-find-killing-unacceptable/">viewed</a> Thompson&#8217;s death as at least &#8220;somewhat acceptable.&#8221; Political violence from the Left is rising. When institutions (including the mayor&#8217;s office) legitimize and platform those who glorify it, the problem doesn&#8217;t stay online.
The Mangionistas are not a fringe aberration. They are the logical, grotesque endpoint of a progressive ideology that spent decades replacing objective and religious morality with emotivism, facts with feelings, and the rule of law with tribal vengeance. When you teach people that success is theft, that corporations are terrorists, and that murdering someone &#8220;uncool&#8221; is activism, you don&#8217;t get revolutionaries. You get this.

A Chinese immigrant escapes one of history&#8217;s most brutal communist regimes, crosses the Pacific, lands in America, collects a multi-million dollar net worth, and then steps in front of a red carpet microphone to <a href="https://x.com/EndWokeness/status/2056115103926252025">declare</a> that capitalism is &#8220;the greatest evil in the world.&#8221;
That is exactly what Hacks star and professional they/them progressive Poppy Liu said at a recent premiere, before adding, generously, that she would &#8220;be okay with [capitalism]&#8221; if fewer people lived under oppression. A noble sentiment. A historically illiterate one (because capitalism leads to <a href="https://www.cato.org/commentary/capitalisms-triumph">less oppression</a>) and coming from her specifically, one of the most spectacular acts of self-unawareness in Hollywood this week.
How do we know? Because last year, Poppy sat down with the L.A. Times to <a href="https://www.latimes.com/travel/story/2025-02-21/sunday-funday-poppy-liu-best-things-to-do-los-angeles">share</a> her ideal Los Angeles Sunday. The schedule: 10:30 a.m personal training session. 11:30 acupuncture recovery. A quick bite at Amara Cafe. An afternoon trek to Koreatown for fresh fruit. Dinner at Levant Bistro. Movie night. And then, naturally, some late-night TikTok couch rot to wind down, after she put “they” to sleep. (The toddler is <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/Cus5xghr8PN/">nongender</a>.)
Every single stop on that itinerary was brought to her by the economic system she&#8217;d like to dismantle.
The irony is again richer than a 12-course tasting menu.
Let&#8217;s briefly audit what capitalism actually provided for Poppy&#8217;s American dream. The personal trainer hustling clients in a free market. The acupuncturist running a private practice. The cafe, the restaurant, the movie theater: all private enterprises, all paying wages, all generating profit, all apparently evil. The phone she used to post about it all? Designed by a company, assembled across a global supply chain, powered by semiconductors and lithium batteries that exist because competitive markets incentivized someone to invent them.
Her career? Funded by capitalist studios and streaming giants. Her designer wardrobe and <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DYWgo0vgQ0Z/?hl=en">thousand</a>-dollar couture dress? It operates through international trade and global capitalist markets. Her immigration story? The electric car with GPS and safety features that brought her to the vanity show? All market-driven. All only possible because she landed in a country built on economic freedom rather than state control.
China, where she spent much of her youth, tried the alternative. It killed tens of millions of people through the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution, and fostered state-managed famine on an industrial scale.
She made it out, made it to America, made millions, and her takeaway is that capitalism is the problem.
This deranged mentality that she and other elites are projecting is going to slowly kill America, if we let it.
It’s nothing new, however. Hating the merchant class is one of the oldest political tricks in human history. <a href="https://heartland.org/opinion/economic-ideas-plato-aristotle-and-the-ancient-greeks-part-2/">Ancient</a> Greeks viewed private trade as disruptive. Medieval Europeans were <a href="https://www.worldhistory.org/article/1301/trade-in-medieval-europe/">suspicious</a> of commerce. For centuries, aristocrats <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bourgeoisie">rallied</a> against anyone who threatened the established order of wealth. The resentment predates Marx by millennia. He just gave it a pamphlet.
What <a href="https://www.opendemocracy.net/en/marx-exploitation-abc-unequal-world/">Marx</a> actually did was shift the target. Before Marx, people resented wealth. After Marx, they were taught to resent the wealthy. To hate the person, not just the gap. To see every successful entrepreneur as a thief, every profit as exploitation, every billionaire as a threat to democracy. Modern progressives didn’t invent this; they just introduced it to the youth on TikTok.
And it’s working. Only 54% of Americans now view capitalism <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/694835/image-capitalism-slips.aspx">positively</a>. The lowest number in 15 years. This ought to terrify you.
As I “Sunday Scrolled” on Instagram, I came across a viral <a href="https://www.instagram.com/reels/DWjaRWeiF5X/">video</a> that inaccurately reframed the entire economic debate between Capitalism and communism as a father asking his daughter: if another kid doesn’t have a lunch, do you share yours? She says yes. Dad says, “Then you’re a little commie.” The implication was that capitalism means hoarding your sandwich while your classmate starves. It was emotional, clever, and completely wrong.
A child voluntarily sharing her lunch is not communism. That’s private property plus individual charity. Americans donate over $590 billion <a href="https://www.google.com/search?q=Americans+donate+over+%24500+billion+annually%2C&amp;oq=Americans+donate+over+%24500+billion+annually%2C&amp;gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOdIBBzcwOWowajeoAgCwAgA&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8">annually</a>, the highest charitable giving rate on earth. Communism isn&#8217;t the sweet kid at the lunch table. Communism is the government seizing the cafeteria, mismanaging the food supply, and leaving everyone hungry. Ask Venezuela. Ask the Soviet Union. Ask the 45 <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Leap_Forward">million</a> people who died in Mao&#8217;s Great Leap Forward.
The video had 5.6 million views. The comments had a collective IQ of 80. The indoctrination is working.
Nobody is arguing that capitalism is perfect. It is flawed, but obviously the best option we’ve got. Under it, global extreme poverty cratered from 42% to under 9% since 1990. Lifespans doubled over the last century. The smartphone in your pocket contains more computing power than NASA used to land astronauts on the moon, and you can buy one for a few hundred dollars. This happened because markets reward innovation, competition drives down costs, and human ingenuity is allowed to function.
Every alternative has delivered something else. Stagnation. Poverty. Body Counts.
Even <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/ben-shapiro-ep-2426-memberblock">Sweden</a>, long the Left’s favorite argument for socialism, is embracing capitalism wholesale: free markets, private enterprise, lower taxes, and strong property rights. And of course, it’s working. The country has seen massive increases in innovation and Initial Public Offerings, so much so that the small country of 11 million is far outpacing Germany, France, and the Netherlands.
What the Poppys of the world are selling is not a better system. It is envy dressed in the language of compassion, packaged by people wealthy enough to never feel the consequences of the ideas they promote. They hate billionaires from their million-dollar homes. They hate corporations on the devices that those corporations made. They perform poverty from penthouses and call it solidarity. They fight “oppression” over oat-milk matchas.
Poppy Liu immigrated from a country that starved its own people in the name of economic equality, built a career in a country that rewards talent and ambition, accumulated real wealth, and concluded that the problem is capitalism.
She is welcome to her opinion. She is welcome to donate her sequined couture, her L.A. restaurant tabs, her streaming residuals, and her personal training sessions to the revolution. We&#8217;ll take the million-dollar home too, since she&#8217;s offering.
For the rest of us: you are not a bad person for believing in free markets. You are not greedy for wanting to keep what you earn. You are not heartless for understanding that a system rewarding innovation and competition has done more to lift human beings out of poverty than any government program in history.
The greatest evil of all time did not build the modern world. Capitalism did.

Somebody needs to remind former Vice President Kamala Harris of her own wisdom: &#8220;Do you think you just fell out of a coconut tree? You exist in the context of all in which you live and what came before you.&#8221; Because it seems she has forgotten that context entirely.
Harris may have lost both the Electoral College and the popular vote, performed horrendously in every swing state, and campaigned with all the intellectual rigor of a drunken stupor — but a woman of her talents refuses to sit idle. She&#8217;s already back at it, hosting &#8220;bad ideas only brainstorms&#8221; on the &#8220;Win With Black Women&#8221; podcast.
Not to be confused with their adversarial counterpart, &#8220;Losing With Annoying Women,&#8221; otherwise known as The View.
On Thursday&#8217;s <a href="https://x.com/i/status/2055057833628971435">episode</a>, Harris literally hosted, in her own words, a &#8220;no bad ideas brainstorm,&#8221; in which every single idea was a steaming pile of constitutional malpractice designed to rig the system, because her party cannot win fair and square.
Her three &#8220;novel&#8221; proposals, which have been trotted out by every radical Democrat in the country already, were to abolish the Electoral College, expand the Supreme Court, and grant statehood to Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico, all to &#8220;fight fire with fire&#8221; and &#8220;neutralize these red states from cheating.&#8221;
I laughed, but the frightening reality is that many people think this sounds not just fine, but necessary. A righteous effort to wrest power from the evil, fascist, bigoted, racist Republicans. It is not normal. It is dangerous and historically illiterate.
The Electoral College was clearly not covered properly in grade school or at university, because many self-described &#8220;educated Democrats&#8221; — <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tim-walz-calls-for-the-electoral-college-to-be-abolished-we-need-a-national-popular-vote?utm_source=facebook&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=benshapiro">including</a> Minnesota Governor Tim Walz — don&#8217;t seem to understand the purpose of it at all. The Founders established it to protect smaller states from being dominated by high-population urban centers. By having electors meet in their respective states to vote on behalf of their people, the mechanism ensures the president is elected by a coalition of states, keeping this a federalist republic.
We are a republic, not a pure democracy, precisely so California and New York cannot steamroll Wyoming and North Dakota every four years. Without it, tyrannical majorities and wannabe presidents like Harris and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would barnstorm Los Angeles, Chicago, and the Acela Corridor while ignoring the rest of the map.
Clinton thought she didn&#8217;t have to campaign in Wisconsin. She <a href="https://www.archives.gov/electoral-college/2016">lost</a> 10 electoral votes because of it. Harris thought she could win Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin with a coastal, big-city progressive playbook and lost every single one of them because of it. The problem is not the system. The problem is that they cannot sell their agenda to enough states.
Can you imagine if President Donald Trump said he would abolish the Electoral College? The media moguls would have shaved their heads in anti-authoritarian solidarity within minutes.
Then Harris confirmed her IQ is somewhere south of room temperature when she expressed her desire to expand the Supreme Court — aka: Court-packing. A similar authoritarian power grab was <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judicial_Procedures_Reform_Bill_of_1937">attempted</a> by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the 1930s, and even his own party rejected the banana-republic scheme.
The Court has nine justices because Congress set it that way in <a href="https://www.britannica.com/story/why-are-there-nine-justices-on-the-us-supreme-court">1869</a>, to establish independence, stability, and protection from the kind of naked partisan manipulation that had turned it into a political football for decades prior.
Harris and her cadre of angry partisans have been seething since Dobbs and continue to get struck down by the current Supreme Court because they continue doing illegal things. Instead of campaigning on popular policy, delivering results, and appointing justices when vacancies arise, their solution is to bypass those pesky checks and balances entirely. Stuffing the bench with 13 or 15 partisan hacks to rubber-stamp their agenda the minute they have the chance.
The Democratic Machine team is openly admitting they will turn our independent judiciary into a Democratic super-legislature. This “genius” politicking would backfire, as every other partisan power grab has, and the next Republican wave would pack it right back, to 17 or 19 justices, and so on and so forth, destroying the Court’s legitimacy.
<a href="https://repository.uclawsf.edu/hastings_constitutional_law_quaterly/vol29/iss3/4/">As James Madison warned in Federalist 47: &#8220;The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands&#8230;may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.&#8221;</a>
Politics is a game. Instead of playing to win, Democrats are simply trying to break the referee.
They&#8217;re also trying to add more players to their side of the field. The game is roughly even right now, but Harris and her fellow coconuts don&#8217;t like it even. That&#8217;s why they&#8217;re seriously pushing statehood for D.C. and Puerto Rico, all in an effort, per Harris, to &#8220;neutralize these red states from cheating.&#8221;
You know what would prevent cheating? Ceasing mail-in ballots, requiring voter-ID, not lying about the “freeness” and “fairness” of your elections via gerrymandering 50% of voters out of existence. But they hate that idea!
Cheating would be subverting our Founders&#8217; wishes by granting statehood to D.C., which was deliberately designed as a federal district, not a state, precisely to avoid creating a permanent swamp of congressional power brokers beholden to one party. It&#8217;s already 90% Democrat. Granting it statehood would hand Democrats two more senators and a House seat overnight. That&#8217;s not democracy. That&#8217;s pure power consolidation.
Puerto Rico, the homeland of the Caribbean&#8217;s <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtRD8hlIm9Y">baddest bunny</a>, is a welfare <a href="https://www.facebook.com/visualcapitalist/posts/visual-of-the-week-puerto-rico-leads-with-47-of-u-s-households-on-welfare-while-n/1196039162554504/">magnet</a> propped up by federal <a href="https://ffis.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/FY-2023-Per-Capita-Puerto-Rico.pdf">transfers</a>, with English as a non-dominant language, and their own referendums on statehood have been dismal with low turnout and mixed <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puerto_Rico_status_referendums">results</a>. Forcing it to become America&#8217;s 51st state wouldn&#8217;t expand the map; it would expand the entitlement tab and deliver a couple more reliable electoral votes to the Left.

But red states simply existing and growing in population because of low taxes, limited government, and deregulation? That’s cheating.
The Left has tried impeaching, imprisoning, and indicting President Donald Trump. They have weaponized the IRS and DOJ against Christians and conservatives, control Hollywood, the corporate media, and universities, censor conservative voices through Big Tech, and have imposed top-down government control everywhere they can reach.
Brainstorming how to abolish the Electoral College, pack the Supreme Court, lower the voting age, import millions of illegal aliens, and add two new Democratic states is not brainstorming. It is a coordinated effort to end the republic.
As Benjamin Franklin warned, we can only keep it &#8220;if we can keep it.&#8221;
The Left is telling us exactly what they will do the moment they have the chance. This is why they have spent years dehumanizing, delegitimizing, and degrading their opponents, so that when the unconstitutional seizure comes, they can call it necessary. Protective. A heroic effort to save Americans from evil Republicans.
President Barack Obama <a href="https://x.com/i/status/2053143910088659001">claims</a> he wished conservatives respected the rule of law. Meanwhile, Democrats chip away at every constitutional guardrail, day after day.
The silver lining: while the Republican bench stacks up with Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Democrats are giving us a preview of their 2028 primary. If Harris, fresh off her latest word salad, is the best they’ve got? Americans can expect to keep their constitutional republic a little while longer.

To my sheer dismay, I opened a letter the other day informing me of yet another speeding ticket. How? I saw no cops. I stay just slightly above the speed limit like every other functioning adult in this country. No flashing lights, no sirens, no officer pulling me over to exercise any semblance of human judgment.
No need. The District of Columbia has taken a page straight out of the Chinese Communist playbook, embedding surveillance cameras on every major road in the city, lying in wait to snare Washington, D.C. residents in a money trap. The same residents, by the way, who already pay some of the highest taxes in the nation.
$400. I was as thrilled to see that bill as Pete Hegseth was <a href="https://x.com/EricLDaugh/status/2054745647819948456">shaking</a> President Xi&#8217;s hand this week. Granted, I was going too fast, and I&#8217;ll pay it like a law-abiding citizen, but I shouldn&#8217;t have to feel like I&#8217;m dodging the Ministry of Public Security just to get to work.
Because that&#8217;s exactly what this is. China operates one of the world&#8217;s largest surveillance states, with an estimated 700 million CCTV cameras tracking its residents&#8217; every move. The Fox News crew <a href="https://x.com/i/status/2054699064940216690">found</a> that out the hard way during Trump&#8217;s Beijing trip, getting slapped with a $40 ticket for parking illegally for two whole minutes! It&#8217;s <a href="https://x.com/i/status/2054726431918420393">authoritarian</a>. It&#8217;s Orwellian. And it&#8217;s a reminder: keep CCP-style surveillance and Chinese influence out of America.
Speed cameras are annoying and invasive, but they&#8217;re the least of what&#8217;s crushing the Chinese people. China is a disaster area. As President Donald Trump sits across from Xi Jinping this week, it&#8217;s worth remembering exactly who the enemy is and exactly how weak they really are.
You wouldn&#8217;t know it from their propaganda show. As Trump stepped off Air Force One in Beijing, he was greeted by perfectly choreographed children, waving flowers and American flags with rehearsed smiles, robotically jumping to the music. It looked like a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-c7DIWEIvWA">scene</a> out of The Interview. Abnormal. Creepy. Stop it.
Beneath that polished, stage-managed surface is a nation rotting from the inside.
<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I30A5Z63Uyk">China&#8217;s</a> nominal GDP per capita is under $15,000 a year. Ours is $95,000. They’re facing a huge demographic problem after their one-child policy prevented 400 million births, gutting their workforce and leaving no one to pay the bills — bills that now sit at a 336% debt-to-GDP ratio, propped up by trillions in bad loans that will never be repaid. Beijing long ago crushed free enterprise in favor of a top-down mercantilist system where the Party picks winners and losers, and the result is a country that can&#8217;t innovate or build, which is why America is running away with the AI race and the global hegemonic title.
So instead, they steal — up to $600 billion in American IP every year — and mass-produce what they can, because they have no regard for human life or child <a href="https://www.dol.gov/agencies/ilab/reports/child-labor/list-of-goods-print?items_per_page=10&amp;combine=china">labor</a> laws. That same apathy toward their own people shows up in how they govern them: heavy taxation just to keep the nation afloat, a military that&#8217;s large but technologically limited, with no real deep-water capability or meaningful power projection. Their one-party autocracy doesn&#8217;t produce innovation; it produces loyalty oaths. China is not an ascending power threatening to displace us. It&#8217;s a declining one, desperately trying to stop the bleeding.
The CCP is not just our adversary. They are our enemy. And they&#8217;re losing. Some of it is self-inflicted, some of it is courtesy of our sanctions, investment restrictions, and the compounding advantage of being a free market that keeps innovating while they stagnate. But the Iran situation? That&#8217;s the cherry on top.
Fifty-four percent of China&#8217;s total oil imports come from the Middle East. Another 3–5% was coming from Venezuela before that dried up. They are almost entirely dependent on a region currently on fire, and they have no leverage to do anything about it. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said it plainly this week: Chinese ships are stuck in the Persian Gulf, Chinese cargo got hit over the weekend, and their export market is in limbo. An Iran war hurts China far more than it hurts us.
That desperation is precisely why this week&#8217;s White House meeting produced real <a href="https://x.com/WhiteHouse/status/2054859596938785204/photo/1">concessions</a>. China agreed to greater U.S. access to Chinese markets, an end to fentanyl precursor exports, a halt to purchasing American farmland, and — most significantly — that Iran cannot ever have a nuclear weapon. The Strait of Hormuz stays open. China even wants to buy American oil, because when your energy supply chain runs through a war zone, you get pragmatic fast.
Our little enemy has been backed into its rightful corner. We need more of this, because China has been running a full-spectrum assault on the United States for years: espionage, economic theft on a historic scale, and subversion right here at home.
In California, <a href="http://justice.gov/usao-cdca/pr/arcadia-mayor-federally-charged-acting-illegal-agent-peoples-republic-china">Arcadia</a> Mayor Eileen Wang just pleaded guilty to spying for the PRC. A sitting mayor. A <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/crime/4568091/lu-jianwang-convicted-chinese-spy-post-new-york-city/">Bronx</a> man named Lu Jianwang was just convicted for operating a secret Chinese &#8220;police station&#8221; in Manhattan&#8217;s Chinatown, monitoring dissidents and harassing fugitives on direct orders from Beijing. Eric Swalwell, the disgraced former congressman, got honey-potted by a Chinese spy named Fang Fang while sitting on the House Intelligence Committee — and it barely made a ripple. Chinese &#8220;students&#8221; embedded in our research universities go home upon graduation and take whatever they&#8217;ve collected with them. TikTok is a CCP <a href="https://2017-2021.state.gov/chinas-coercive-tactics-abroad/">propaganda</a> pipeline running on 170 million American phones. The <a href="https://2017-2021.state.gov/chinas-coercive-tactics-abroad/">Confucius</a> Institutes spent years pumping Beijing-approved curriculum into U.S. campuses, scrubbing any mention of Taiwan, Tiananmen, or the Uyghurs — the same <a href="https://www.cfr.org/backgrounders/china-xinjiang-uyghurs-muslims-repression-genocide-human-rights">Uyghurs</a> sitting in Chinese concentration camps right now — millions of them.
So when Xi this week <a href="https://x.com/AtlasWireHQ/status/2054852243476947274">claims</a> he wants &#8220;strategic stability&#8221; between China and the United States — great. Close the spy stations. Stop the fentanyl. Stop the stealing. Then we&#8217;ll take you seriously.
The fake news will tell you China holds the cards this week. They don&#8217;t. They never did. Trump is in Beijing, Xi is making concessions, and China is desperate for oil, stability, and a lifeline. That&#8217;s not strength. That&#8217;s a country running out of options.
America, don&#8217;t be like China. Don&#8217;t let their surveillance creep into our cities. Don&#8217;t fall for the communist propaganda, whether it comes from Bernie Sanders, AOC, honeypotters, or Xi himself.

Unless, of course, you&#8217;re a Democrat running to be the next governor of the once Golden State. In that case, you&#8217;re positively elated.
Already, one <a href="https://calmatters.org/politics/2026/04/california-governor-race-swalwell-allegations/">Democratic</a> candidate had to drop out after multiple sexual assault cases were lodged against him, and the current front-runner, Xavier Becerra, is going viral again for <a href="https://x.com/i/status/2054290605044576578">losing</a> track of 85,000 <a href="https://www.public.news/p/fact-check-yes-xavier-becerra-lost?utm_source=podcast-email&amp;publication_id=279400&amp;post_id=197441552&amp;utm_campaign=email-play-on-substack&amp;utm_content=watch_now_button&amp;r=294ts&amp;triedRedirect=true&amp;utm_medium=email">migrant children</a> during his time as President Joe Biden&#8217;s Health and Human Services Secretary. This is the guy California Democrats think will get them to the finish line.
What a time to be alive.
How did he lose all those kids? Starting in 2008, the United States allowed <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/02/25/us/unaccompanied-migrant-child-workers-exploitation.html">unaccompanied minors</a> to be released to sponsors while their immigration proceedings dragged on for years. The process really ramped up during President Obama&#8217;s second term in 2014, but it was under Joe Biden that the floodgates opened. In 2022 alone, more than 130,000 unaccompanied minors entered the U.S. — three times the number from five years earlier. From 2021 to 2023, the total exceeded 250,000. During this time, the Biden White House ramped up <a href="https://static01.nyt.com/images/2023/02/15/multimedia/00childlabor-detention-tbhl/00childlabor-detention-tbhl-superJumbo.jpg?quality=75&amp;auto=webp">demands</a> on staffers to move the children quickly out of shelters and haphazardly release them to adults, rushing through the vetting of sponsors in the process.
Xavier Becerra, being the dutiful “yes-man” he was to Joe Biden, was happy to oblige. His department threw out protections that had been in place for decades: background checks, assessments of children&#8217;s files, etc. According to former employees, he demanded that &#8220;twenty percent of kids have to be released every week or you get dinged,&#8221; and had the unnerving gall to ask why they could not discharge children with &#8220;machine-like efficiency.&#8221;
Oh, I don&#8217;t know, Xavier. Maybe because they&#8217;re children, not inventory?
According to a recording obtained by the New York Times, Becerra complained, &#8220;If Henry Ford had seen this in his plants, he would have never become famous and rich. This is not the way you do an assembly line.&#8221; He told the director of the Office of Refugee Resettlement that if she couldn&#8217;t increase the number of discharges, he would find someone who could. She resigned a month later. He made a similar threat to her successor.
Here is what that exploitation actually looked like, so we are all clear on what we’re talking about. Young women having their <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/02/25/us/unaccompanied-migrant-child-workers-exploitation.html">scalps ripped off</a> in a Michigan Cheerios factory. Twelve-year-olds on overnight shifts. Children sleeping in <a href="https://www.grassley.senate.gov/news/news-releases/records-hhs-sent-unaccompanied-minors-to-sponsors-with-ms-13-ties-potential-trafficking-rings">gang-controlled</a> sponsor homes. The Biden DHS&#8217;s own Inspector General <a href="https://www.oig.dhs.gov/sites/default/files/assets/2025-03/OIG-25-21-Mar25.pdf">found</a> at least 570 child placements tied directly to human trafficking, drug trafficking, and weapons trafficking, and noted that because the agency wasn&#8217;t even tracking trafficking victims, the real number was almost certainly higher. HHS, at the time, behaved as if the children who vanished into these dark labor arrangements were doing just fine. They weren&#8217;t. Democrats opened the border wide, crammed kids into the very facilities they once hysterically called &#8220;cages,&#8221; rushed them through with minimal oversight, and then looked the other way. When a fellow Democrat finally confronted Becerra about it at a May <a href="https://transcripts.cnn.com/show/se/date/2026-05-05/segment/02">debate</a>, he air-quoted the phrase &#8220;lost kids&#8221; and called the whole thing a Trump lie. The New York Times won a Pulitzer Prize for <a href="https://www.pulitzer.org/winners/hannah-dreier-new-york-times">reporting</a> it. Twenty-six of Becerra’s own House Democrats wrote him a <a href="https://www.congress.gov/118/meeting/house/116285/documents/HMTG-118-IF02-20230726-SD016.pdf">letter</a> about it. But sure, it’s a Trump lie.
The hypocrisy, as we point out often in this column, is again too rich to stomach. Becerra, the child losing overlord, had zero public health experience when he was handed HHS in the middle of a pandemic. At the time, Democrats cheered the pick. Now, these same voices clutch their pearls and scream “incompetent” at Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., an odd bird perhaps, but a man who has spent years fighting corporate capture of public health and is actually making a difference at HHS. Plus, he didn’t lose 85,000 children. Becerra did.
Yet here Becerra is, in recent debates, bragging about his record and insisting, “We protected kids,” while pointing fingers at employers. Spare us. The same man who treated child welfare like a Ford assembly line now wants Californians to trust him with the entire state.
This is exactly why Becerra is leading in the <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/5876037-becerra-california-governor-race-poll/">polls</a>. He will say yes to the Democrat machine in California and never make it answer for anything, but his lead also exposes just how bleak that bench has truly become. This is the party that gave California record homelessness despite billions spent, soft-on-crime policies that turned its cities into open-air drug markets, the highest gas prices and cost of living in the nation, failing public schools that trap poor kids in mediocrity, and an illegal immigration burden that strains every hospital, school, and housing market in the state. After all of that, their shining answer is the architect of the 85,000-lost-children scandal — not despite his record, but because of it. And he will keep the machine running and never once ask whether the machine should be stopped.
Progressives don&#8217;t actually care about protecting human beings. They care about advancing their radical Left, mass-migration agenda; consequences and scalp-ripping factories be damned. Human suffering is just the cost of doing business when your priority is importing a permanent underclass and growing the urban plantation. Accountability is for other people. Moral authority is for press releases.
The uncomfortable truth is that Democrats are not interested in fixing problems. They are interested in manufacturing them, moralizing about them for political gain, and then taking the people who made them and running them for higher office. They opened the border. They rushed vulnerable children through the system with minimal safeguards. They looked the other way when those children were exploited, and now they have the audacity to present one of the people most responsible as leadership material, because they hate Trump and Republicans just that much.
California has not elected a Republican governor since <a href="https://www.public.news/p/fact-check-yes-xavier-becerra-lost?utm_source=podcast-email&amp;publication_id=279400&amp;post_id=197441552&amp;utm_campaign=email-play-on-substack&amp;utm_content=watch_now_button&amp;r=294ts&amp;triedRedirect=true&amp;utm_medium=email">2006</a>. Democrats have had nearly two decades to prove they could lead with competence and humanity. Xavier Becerra is neither competent nor humane, and the people of California — the few Republicans and common-sense voters still there — deserve far better than recycled failures.
So don&#8217;t give the keys to Sacramento to a man who lost 85,000 children. Don&#8217;t give them to a woman who reportedly threw <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/04/13/rep-katie-porter-scalded-ex-hubbys-scalp-with-potatoes/">scalding potatoes</a> at her ex-husband and, for some reason, hasn&#8217;t discovered GLP-1s. And don&#8217;t give them to a billionaire as insufferable as Kamala Harris before the vino kicks in. Tom Homan&#8217;s people found <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BL6-g4mDp0">62,000</a> of those not-lost kids within months, which tells you everything about what competent, willing governance actually looks like. Maybe California tries a small-government conservative who doesn&#8217;t hate the people they serve. 
The children certainly deserved one.

On podcaster Brian Tyler Cohen’s show, Los Angeles City Councilmember Nithya Raman <a href="https://x.com/i/status/2054179043797319820">called</a> Spencer Pratt a “mini Donald Trump” representing “fascism.” Pratt, an independent candidate for L.A. mayor who grew up around Democrats, who’s angry that Democrat policies have derailed his life, and who stands for family, God, city, and country is a fascist, apparently.
This is what we’re dealing with.
The “fascist” label is the Left’s go-to attack because it’s the only attack they have left. They can’t defend their policies or win an argument on the merits, so they hurl emotionally loaded slurs with the same masculine and triumphant energy as Minnesota Governor <a href="https://x.com/i/status/1845203939282780648">Tim Walz trying to load a gun</a>. It’s pathetic, and it reveals one of two things: they’re either completely ignorant of history, or they’re counting on you to be.
What is this “fascism” Democrats speak of so incessantly? We heard about it in history books as kids: Benito Mussolini was a fascist, Adolf Hitler was a fascist, and they’re two of the most evil villains in history. So how did we get to the point where Democrats call every Republican they see with this emotionally and historically charged language?
Modern-day liberals fail to realize that fascism originated as a distinctly left-wing ideology born directly out of socialism in the early 20th century. The term comes from the Italian &#8220;fasci,&#8221; meaning a bundle of sticks stronger together than individually. It symbolized the supremacy of the collective over the individual. Mussolini, fascism&#8217;s founder and its most important historical figure, was a Marxist for most of his life and editor of a major socialist <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avanti!_(newspaper)">newspaper</a>. He <a href="https://www.britannica.com/biography/Benito-Mussolini">broke with international communism</a> over exactly one thing: he believed true socialism had to be achieved nationally, not globally.
That&#8217;s where &#8220;national socialism&#8221; came from in Nazi Germany, too. A term that a lot of Democrats seem increasingly enamored with.
Mussolini and philosopher Giovanni Gentile <a href="https://sjsu.edu/faculty/wooda/2B-HUM/Readings/The-Doctrine-of-Fascism.pdf">framed</a> fascism as the practical, workable form of socialism that subordinated the individual entirely to the state. Hitler followed the same blueprint, naming his party the <a href="https://www.britannica.com/topic/Nazi-Party">National Socialist German Workers&#8217; Party</a>. They weren&#8217;t ideological opposites of communism. They just rejected its internationalism in favor of a hyper-nationalist version of collectivism. They championed a powerful centralized state that glorified the collective (<a href="https://x.com/i/status/2006824685208744291">because it’s just so warm</a>), the leader (<a href="https://www.c-span.org/clip/campaign-2012/user-clip-obama-you-didnt-build-that/4544674">because only they know what’s best for you</a>), and the nation (because the<a href="https://www.facebook.com/berniesanders/videos/theres-an-addiction-destroying-this-country-its-the-insatiable-greed-of-a-billio/2921216778082202/"> individual on its own is just too successful and greedy</a>). They imposed heavy regulation on private business, rejected classical liberal individualism and free markets, and built universal welfare programs run by the state, all in service of one idea: that the “good” of the collective must override private rights.
Sound familiar? (Remember, they’re trying to tell you that these fascist ideals are the marks of a conservative.) 
 
Take today’s <a href="https://www.cms.gov/data-research/statistics-trends-and-reports/national-health-expenditure-data/nhe-fact-sheet">progressive</a> <a href="https://www.sanders.senate.gov/press-releases/news-sanders-jayapal-dingell-hundreds-of-health-care-workers-introduce-medicare-for-all/">Democrats</a>: Senator Bernie Sanders, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Kamala Harris, and the Squad demand single-payer “Medicare for All,” handing the state control over one-fifth of the economy. Their <a href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-resolution/109/text">Green</a> New Deal and Joe Biden’s industrial policy (Inflation Reduction Act, CHIPS Act) poured hundreds of billions into directing private industry toward government-chosen goals. That&#8217;s the exact corporatist model Mussolini and Hitler used: businesses stayed &#8220;private&#8221; on paper, but served the collective state agenda. Add COVID, climate, and DEI mandates, government-tech collusion to suppress speech, and identity politics that elevate group grievance over individual rights, and you have the same anti-individual, top-down collectivism fascism always demanded.
In typical leftist fashion, post World War II — or <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/watch-ilhan-omar-roasted-brutal-resurfaced-video-world-war-eleven">World War Eleven</a> if you’re Ilhan Omar — the Left quietly rebranded fascism as &#8220;right-wing&#8221; to smear conservatives and bury its own ideological DNA. A lie then. A lie now.
Fascism bears literally no resemblance to American conservatism. None. Conservatism traces back to the Founding: rights come from God or nature, not government. The state exists to protect those pre-existing rights, not to engineer society or dictate economic outcomes. Conservatives believe in private property, free enterprise, federalism, and a government small enough to stay out of your life.
Fascism is &#8220;right-wing&#8221; only in the narrow European sense when placed next to full communism. By any American standard of limited government and individual freedom, it is radically left-wing, and it always has been.
The real intellectual lineage of Mussolini and Hitler runs straight through 20th-century socialism and into the modern Democratic Left. The policies differ in scale and packaging. The philosophy does not.
So the next time a Democrat calls a Republican a fascist, don&#8217;t get angry. Laugh! Laugh loudly and often, until they&#8217;re finally embarrassed enough to open a history book. They&#8217;ve been counting on your ignorance for decades.

As a Catholic who believes every life is sacred from conception, I&#8217;ve grown weary of a pro-abortion leftist&#8217;s favorite talking point: &#8220;You pro-lifers only care about babies before they&#8217;re born.&#8221;
It&#8217;s a lie, and it&#8217;s lazy.
The real scandal is that the Left treats abortion as the default &#8220;solution&#8221; for struggling mothers while ignoring the practical barriers, like unaffordable, inflexible childcare, that push so many women toward it.
Childcare, though increasingly abused by foreign fraudsters, could be the untold pro-life issue. If we can fix the exploitation of these services with conservative principles and necessary guardrails, we could save far more babies than most people realize.
I sat down with Clare Ath, senior policy analyst at Human Coalition, one of the most effective pro-life organizations in the country. What she described was the daily reality of the women they serve: the average mom is 29, single, already raising one child, and has limited family or friends to lean on. Often, she&#8217;s not choosing abortion out of zeal, but because she’s terrified about making ends meet, and childcare feels fiscally impossible.
According to Human Coalition, 76% of the abortion-determined mothers they reach online say they would choose life if their circumstances were different.
A million abortions a year in America, many now via mail-order chemical pills that flooded the market under Biden-era rules. Post-Dobbs, some pro-life lawmakers patted themselves on the back while chemical abortions surged because the Left made them as easy as ordering takeout.
The abortion industry doesn&#8217;t want to talk about sepsis cases, lost fallopian tubes, or the flight attendant Human Coalition helped who nearly died after Planned Parenthood dismissed her symptoms as &#8220;just cramps.&#8221; They want to keep the pipeline open, not for empowerment, but for exploitation.
The pro-life movement has long championed the ideal: two-parent homes and moms who can stay home if they want. That’s still the gold standard, but reality demands we meet mothers where they are. Human Coalition does just that. Digital ads appear when a desperate woman googles “how do I get an abortion.” Social workers help build a customized stability plan, they partner with churches and other organizations to create a “pro-life safety net,” and they never abandon moms after birth.
This is where conservatives can lead, and where the Left keeps failing. Childcare is the single biggest pressure point for the single moms Human Coalition serves. These women must work, and they don&#8217;t want handouts.
Remote and hybrid jobs are one of the most realistic fixes: call-center roles where moms can earn while the baby naps, large corporations offering on-site care incentivized by stronger federal tax credits, and flexible subsidies that match non-traditional hours — all of which beat rigid state daycare that closes at 5 p.m. when your Walmart shift doesn’t end until 11.
Contrast all that with the Left’s one-size-fits-all, universal free fluff obsession. Remember Bill de Blasio&#8217;s universal pre-K push in New York, backed by then-Gov. Cuomo&#8217;s state funding? The flagship program limped along, but its 3-K expansion flopped spectacularly. Wealthier, whiter neighborhoods filled the seats, while low-income and minority families left one-third of the seats empty. Why? The hours didn’t match night shifts and irregular work. The program was expensive, impractical, and ultimately scrapped by Mayor Eric Adams.
Mamdani wants more of the same, yet recent data on New York&#8217;s pre-K and 3-K expansions show an identical pattern: empty seats in the poorest neighborhoods, waitlists in the richest.
Socialism&#8217;s &#8220;free&#8221; care isn&#8217;t free when it ignores how real families actually live.
Though the word &#8220;childcare&#8221; has nearly become synonymous with socialist promises and fraudulent Minnesota billing schemes, Republicans shouldn&#8217;t cede the issue. West Virginia congressman Riley Moore&#8217;s proposal to make childcare dollars flexible for family care (grandma watching the grandkids, for example) is smart, provided it&#8217;s paired with real guardrails against the kind of fraud we saw in Minnesota.
Younger conservatives understand this: women are working, and that&#8217;s not slowing down. But more remote work could boost birth rates, especially when we remember that life seasons matter. Motherhood is not a career penalty; it&#8217;s a beautiful vocation worth supporting, and it goes by fast.
Addressing childcare doesn&#8217;t have to mean big government or a socialist fantasy. It&#8217;s pro-family realism, and it undercuts the abortion lobby&#8217;s entire grift.
If we want our birth rate to rise, we have to stop killing the babies we already have and start supporting mothers after birth through pregnancy resource centers, long-term accountability, and practical help that the Left only pretends to offer. Their solution is a pill in the mail and a shrug. Ours is nurses, social workers, churches, and policies that make choosing life feel possible instead of punishing.
Conservatives should stop treating childcare as a third-rail issue and start treating it as the frontline of the pro-life fight. Human Coalition is already there. The rest of us should follow their lead because the future of this country depends on it!

‘Pro-Life’ Must Continue Beyond Birth — Millions Of Lives Depend On It

The Los Angeles mayoral race is in the news, and with it, the ghosts of the Palisades still smoldering beneath the surface of every debate exchange.
On the stage last week, mayoral candidates Spencer Pratt, incumbent Mayor Karen Bass, and City Councilmember Nithya Raman duked it out over who was to blame for the Palisades Fires. Rightly so. Pratt correctly pointed out that Democratic leadership was responsible for the empty water reservoirs and hydrants running dry, as well as the misappropriation of funds from the city&#8217;s operational budget. However, they all failed to address the actual cause of the fire, which is symptomatic of a much larger rot wreaking havoc across our political landscape.
It&#8217;s been discovered that a Left-wing arsonist named Jonathan Rinderknecht intentionally started the fire that killed 12 people and displaced hundreds of thousands more. Prosecutors say he was &#8220;fixated&#8221; on Luigi Mangione and &#8220;held a resentment of the rich.&#8221;
Rinderknecht searched the terms &#8220;free Luigi Mangione&#8221; — the man who brutally murdered husband, father, and UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on the dark streets of New York City in December 2024. He also searched &#8220;lets take down all the billionaires&#8221; and &#8220;reddit lets kill all the billionaires.” He ranted to his Uber passengers about the evils of capitalism and the virtues of vigilante justice. He told investigators, explicitly, that someone might commit arson in the Pacific Palisades out of resentment; the same ideological desperation, he said, that motivated the murder of Brian Thompson.
Remove the accelerant and the matches, and he is quoting a standard-issue Liberal pundit.
This is among the single most destructive acts of domestic terrorism in modern American history. Over 23,000 acres burned — an estimated $25 billion in damage. Fifty-six percent of Palisades is gone, the result of one man motivated by a coherent, widely distributed ideology, and it has received a fraction of the media coverage it deserves.
Why? Because the perpetrator was a leftist. Not a fringe extremist in the traditional sense, but a regular, slightly unhinged leftist. This is nothing out of the ordinary from what we see on a regular basis. 
Just recently, a one-eyed TikTok user announced plans to assassinate the president and his children. Obama&#8217;s friend and colleague Mark Hamill posted to X that &#8220;if only&#8221; the president were in a grave. After the president was almost assassinated yet again, a UnitedHealthcare worker was fired for publicly lamenting that the shooter missed. When she took to TikTok to complain, the comment section rushed to her defense. The shooter himself, Cole Allen Thomas, was a seemingly regular, only ever-so-slightly unhinged leftist. He was, by all accounts, normal, until he did the abnormal.
Increasingly, Democrats of all stripes are publicly expressing their hatred for billionaires, the wealthy in general, anyone who achieves success – honestly, anyone who’s happy – and this one goes without saying: anyone within 10 feet of a MAGA voter.
This hatred, coupled with a rapid and upward trend of political violence where the ends justify any means, is dangerous.
Forty-two percent of the Left says political violence is sometimes justifiable. Left-wing violence is at an all-time high. A record number of liberals identify as religiously unaffiliated, medicated, alone, and depressed — conditions their own leaders have done nothing to address and everything to exploit.
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez mouths off lies about American history to manufacture resentment. Barack Obama lectures about Republican radicalization while posing for photos with terror sympathizers. The New York Times platforms terror-sympathizing podcasters who have explicitly called for killing capitalists and watching them bleed out in the streets. Maine is on the verge of primarying a candidate with a Nazi tattoo, while the national press yawns.
The leaders of the Left are not bystanders to this violence; they are its architects. They build the ideological framework, fan the resentment, and then act bewildered when ordinary people take the next logical step.
Jonathan Rinderknecht lit a match that burned through 56% of the Palisades, but the kindling had been laid for years by politicians, media figures, and cultural institutions that have spent a decade telling the most unstable among us that the rich are their oppressors, that the system deserves to burn, and that those who act on that conviction are, at worst, romantics ahead of their time.
One Leftist. One raging case of class resentment — 23,000 burned acres.
And nobody wants to talk about it.

Gavin Newsom has, once again, found himself diaper-deep in someone else&#8217;s business.
The California governor, who is nearing the end of a gubernatorial tenure best described as a masterclass in managed decline, presided over rampant homelessness, a record exodus of residents, a near $30 billion budget deficit, a housing affordability crisis, dismal education scores, and a surge in violent crime. Now, rather than reckoning with any of that, he has taken to social media to unveil his newest meretricious title: Diaper Daddy. California&#8217;s unmasked Super Conman, able to leap tall budget deficits in a single bound to deliver diapers to all…while leaving actual human waste on the sidewalks entirely untouched.
The initiative itself is a pitch-perfect distillation of modern Democrat governance: announce something that sounds warmhearted, execute it at roughly three times the necessary cost, layer it in politically connected middlemen, waste everyone’s time and money, and call dissenters “heartless monsters.”
This time, however, the math raises more than an eyebrow. It raises the specter of fraud.
Newsom announced a pilot diaper program that will initially roll out at hospitals largely serving Medi-Cal patients before expanding statewide. This summer, the state is partnering with Baby2Baby, a California-based nonprofit, to give every newborn delivered at a participating California hospital 400 diapers at no cost to the family. Budget records show $7.4 million was allocated in the prior fiscal year (2025-2026) to launch the initiative, with an additional $12.5 million proposed for the 2026-2027 budget cycle, bringing the total commitment to roughly $19.9 million. This is all on top of the $45 billion California taxpayers already pour into Medi-Cal every year. But hey, the weather is unbeatable!
When people started doing the math, the flags went up fast. Divide $20 million by 100,000 babies, then divide that by 400 diapers each, and you arrive at $0.50 per diaper. The cheapest diapers on store shelves cost around $0.15 each. 
A FIFTEEN-CENT diaper for just FIFTY CENTS!? What a bargain.
Now, had the state simply handed parents the money to buy their own poo-catchers and let the free market do what the free market does, competition would have driven prices down further and quality up! The people would have won. Instead, the government decided it needed to get its hands into America&#8217;s smelliest supply chain, and turned a $0.15 product into a $0.50 one. Government efficiency, folks. On full display.
When pressed on the numbers, Newsom&#8217;s press office clarified that the diaper contract itself only costs $6.2 million, which works out to roughly $0.155 per diaper, still more than retail. But that admission quietly concedes the obvious question: where does the other $13 million go? The answer, according to the administration, is setup, hospital rollout, logistics, warehousing, and distribution, all of which are superfluous costs that would not exist if parents were allowed to keep their money and buy their own diapers in the first place. Diaper Daddy could focus on getting Drug Demons off the streets and clearing the actual feces off the sidewalks, but hey, at least he’s not giving taxpayer-funded diapers to drug addicts. Yet. 
Then there is the matter of who is running Baby2Baby. The nonprofit is led by Kelly Sawyer Patricof and Norah Weinstein. Weinstein also sits on the board of the California Partners Project, co-founded by her BFF Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the insufferable wife of Gavin Newsom, where they fundraise and promote for the trans, gender-confused intersex folk, and the women who are supposed victims of the nefarious patriarchal powers that be. Patricof, for her part, is married to Jamie Patricof, a Hollywood big-shot producer and longtime Democratic bundler with very deep ties to the party elites.

Here is the Democratic playbook, for those keeping score at home: announce a program that makes you look compassionate, overbill the taxpayer for something families could’ve handled themselves, insert a layer of politically connected middlemen, feed the bureaucratic boondoggles, and enrich oneself at the expense of the taxpayer.
The citizen funds the apparatus. The apparatus benefits the network. The network attends the fundraiser. Repeat! 
 
Gavin, most of us love babies and new life. We’d love to see more of it. Why don’t you do what President Donald Trump is doing and cut checks directly to parents of newborns, or partner with the Trump accounts to make savings vehicles more accessible to California families, so that newborns can be sitting on meaningful sums by the time they turn 18? Or, radically, just let taxpayers keep their money, buy whatever product they want, drive competition, keep the free market functioning, and deny corrupt bureaucrats the pleasure of rerouting public funds through nonprofits within their own orbit.
But no, that would be crazy. This is, after all, the same governor who spent hundreds of millions turning California into the West Coast&#8217;s premier abortion destination. Nothing says “pro-family” quite like subsidizing diapers for the babies you worked so hard to make rarer.
But perhaps there is some poetic justice here. This summer, every time a new parent wipes a stinky, smelly, loaded diaper, they’ll be reminded of Gavin Newsom — and exactly where their tax dollars went.
