White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre denied that the White House knew about the FBI raid on former President Donald Trump’s home during a Tuesday press briefing, claiming that President Joe Biden was not given any notice beforehand.
The press secretary responded to reporter questions about the Monday raid by insisting that such “investigations should be free from political influence.”
Asked if the White House is concerned about the appearance of an attack on another president, Jean-Pierre said that Biden has been “unequivocal” in his belief in the rule of law, and refused to comment on “any ongoing investigations from here.”
“And to Republicans who say it reeks of politics?” asked a reporter.
Jean-Pierre insisted that the White House “learned just like the American public did, yesterday,” adding, “and we did not have advanced notice of this activity.”

“President Biden has been very clear from before he was elected president, and throughout his time in office, that the Justice Department conducts its investigations independently,” she added. “He believes in the rule of law and [that] we are a nation of law, and again, we defer any incoming on this particular incident yesterday to the Department of Justice.”
The White House press secretary steadily refused to address Republican criticism of the incident or whether Attorney General Merrick Garland “signed off” on the raid.
“These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents,” Trump said in a statement on Monday when he announced that FBI agents had raided his home. “After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate.”
The White House has not responded to requests for comment from The Daily Wire.
