The Justice Department announced Monday that Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey will step into the Trump administration as co-deputy director of the FBI, a move that reshapes bureau leadership amid reported internal disputes.
Bailey, who stepped down from his role as attorney general effective September 8, will hold his newly-created position alongside current FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino and serve under FBI Director Kash Patel.
“I am thrilled to welcome Andrew Bailey as Co-Deputy Director of the FBI. He has served as a distinguished attorney general for Missouri and is a decorated war veteran, bringing expertise and dedication to service,” Attorney General Pam Bondi <a href="https://ago.mo.gov/missouri-attorney-general-andrew-bailey-announces-resignation-in-order-to-accept-federal-position/">said</a>. “His leadership and commitment to country will be a tremendous asset as we work together to advance President Trump’s mission. Bongino, who has reportedly clashed with Bondi over her handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files, welcomed Bailey to the FBI in a social media post. Bailey will not need to be confirmed by the Senate to take the role. Missouri Republican Governor Mike Kehoe will appoint Bailey&#8217;s replacement in the coming weeks. 
During his time as Missouri&#8217;s attorney general, Bailey challenged the Biden administration and filed a variety of culture war suits. For example, he sued multiple companies like International Business Machines (<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/missouri-attorney-general-sues-tech-giant-ibm-alleging-discrimination-against-whites-asians-men">IBM</a>) and <a href="https://ago.mo.gov/attorney-general-bailey-files-suit-against-starbucks-for-race-and-sex-based-discrimination/">Starbucks</a> over diversity, equity, and inclusion policies. He also launched an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/missouri-attorney-general-launches-investigation-into-trans-center-for-harming-hundreds-of-children">investigation</a> into the Pediatric Transgender Center at St. Louis Children’s Hospital and <a href="https://ago.mo.gov/attorney-general-bailey-demands-millions-in-suit-against-national-planned-parenthood-for-deceiving-women-about-the-dangers-of-the-abortion-drug/">sued</a> Planned Parenthood over its promotion of the abortion drug mifepristone. Bailey also sued to stop the student loan cancellation plan pushed by the Biden administration and sued the Department of Homeland Security for data on whether illegal immigrants were being relocated to Missouri.

Federal authorities have arrested over 100 people in Washington, D.C., since last Thursday as President Donald Trump sends in the National Guard and federalizes D.C. police to crack down on violent crime in the nation&#8217;s capital.
Of the 103 people arrested by the feds since last week, 43 were detained on Tuesday, Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/scoop-trumps-new-dc-crime-crackdown-yields-more-than-100-arrests">reported</a>, citing a White House official. Along with hundreds of National Guard troops, agents with the FBI, Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Capitol Police, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives have also descended upon the nation&#8217;s capital to help enforce Trump&#8217;s D.C. &#8220;Liberation Day&#8221; operation.

FBI Director Kash Patel <a href="https://x.com/FBIDirectorKash/status/1955396650005823806">said</a> on Tuesday that the bureau was involved in 10 arrests with law enforcement partners in &#8220;the first big push&#8221; of Trump&#8217;s violent crime crackdown. The FBI arrests included one &#8220;on a search warrant for a prior murder charge,&#8221; multiple arrests for unlawful possession of firearms, multiple arrests of suspects with outstanding warrants for DUI, and an arrest for violating a restraining order, according to Patel.
&#8220;These are just a few examples — we are just getting started. Federal partners joined local police and arrested 23 in total. When you let good cops be cops they can clean up our streets and do it fast,&#8221; the FBI director added. &#8220;More to come. Your nation&#8217;s Capital WILL be safe again.&#8221;

A White House official said that federal agents and the Metropolitan Police Department &#8220;will continue focusing on high traffic areas and other known hotspots.&#8221;

White House Press Secretary <a href="https://x.com/FoxNews/status/1955320143090708745">said</a> during a press briefing on Tuesday that around 850 officers and agents &#8220;were surged across the city&#8221; on Monday night, and made 23 arrests, which included arrests on homicide, firearms, and drug charges. Trump announced that he was federalizing D.C. police and deploying the National Guard on Monday morning, but federal agents were already out on the D.C. streets making arrests late last week.
The president is using section 740 of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act to declare an emergency and take control of the Metropolitan Police Department for up to 30 days. Democrat Senator Adam Schiff directed the leaking of classified documents to target President Donald Trump and influence public opinion, according to whistleblower claims in newly declassified FBI documents.
A whistleblower who worked for the Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee told the FBI that Schiff had pushed for the leaking of classified documents in a meeting after Trump&#8217;s election in 2016, according to a <a href="https://justthenews.com/sites/default/files/2025-08/Democratic%20HPSCI%20Staffer%20-%20FBI%20Interview%20Notes.pdf">summary</a> of the interview <a href="https://justthenews.com/government/congress/exclusive-democrat-whistleblower-told-fbi-schiff-approved-leaking-classified">obtained</a> by Just the News. Schiff was a major proponent of the discredited narrative that Trump schemed with the Russians to get elected in 2016. 
The whistleblower claimed that Schiff orchestrated a plan to hurt Trump by leaking classified documents, according to the interview.
“In this meeting, SCHIFF stated the group would leak classified information which was derogatory to President of the United States Donald J. TRUMP. SCHIFF stated the information would be used to Indict President TRUMP,” the FBI memo said. “[Redacted] stated this would be illegal and, upon hearing his concerns, unnamed members of the meeting reassured [Redacted] that they would not be caught leaking classified information.”
The whistleblower believed that this leaking would be &#8220;unethical,&#8221; &#8220;illegal,&#8221; and “treasonous.”  The whistleblower was later “approached about leaking classified information in a separate meeting by unnamed individuals,” the FBI memo says. 
The interview documents were declassified by FBI Director Kash Patel. 
“We found it. We declassified it,” Patel <a href="https://x.com/FBIDirectorKash/status/1955068719815684196">posted</a> on X. “Now Congress can see how classified info was leaked to shape political narratives — and decide if our institutions were weaponized against the American people.”
Over the course of several years, the whistleblower conducted multiple interviews with the FBI which were then summarized by the agent who conducted the interviews in a series of memos.
In one August 2017 interview, the whistleblower said that Democrats on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence believed that they could bring down Trump with document leaks to the media. 
“Schiff believed Russia hijacked the election, and the United States was in the middle of a constitutional crisis. Classified information began leaking to the media. The Democratic minority leadership of HPSCI was aware of the leaks but was under the impression that leaking the information was one way to topple the administration and fix the constitutional crisis,” the whistleblower told the FBI. 
In another interview from December 5, 2017, the whistleblower reportedly said that Schiff was &#8220;particularly upset” after the election of Trump because he believed that Hillary Clinton would have appointed him CIA director. 
The whistleblower claimed that Schiff told staff to gather information about Trump and Russia that would “be made public through the media in order to compel public opinion.”
In one instance, the whistleblower noticed that a sensitive document viewed in the summer of 2017 by a few members of the committee “appeared in the news almost verbatim” within 24 hours of its review. 
The whistleblower “suspected that [Rep. Eric Swalwell] played a role in the leak and noted that SWALWELL previously had been warned to be careful because he had a reputation for leaking classified information.”
According to the whistleblower, Schiff believed that the strategy of leaking documents was protected by the speech and debate clause that gives lawmakers immunity for what they say during legislative actions. 
A spokesman for Schiff called the whistleblower allegations not credible.
&#8220;Kash Patel’s latest smear against Senator Schiff is absolutely and categorically false, and is just the latest in a series of defamatory attacks from the President and his allies meant to distract from their plummeting poll numbers and the Epstein files scandal,&#8221; the spokesman said. &#8220;These baseless smears are based on allegations that were found to be not reliable, not credible, and unsubstantiated from a disgruntled former staffer who was fired by the House Intelligence Committee for cause in early 2017, including for harassment and potentially compromising activity on official travel for the Committee.&#8221;
Patel has sent the FBI memos over to Congress for review. 
&#8220;For years, certain officials used their positions to selectively leak classified information to shape political narratives,&#8221; Patel told Just the News on Monday. &#8220;It was all done with one purpose: to weaponize intelligence and law enforcement for political gain.”

Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott said that he is open to using &#8220;every tool&#8221; to go after the 50+ Democratic state representatives who fled the state to block a vote on a new GOP-backed congressional map.
In an interview with <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/elections/texas-gov-greg-abbott-moves-amp-pressure-democrats-fled-redistricting-rcna223581?utm_source=newsletter&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_content=Click%20here&amp;utm_campaign=Gov%20Abbott%20push%208.8.25">NBC News</a> that aired on Friday morning, Abbott said that state officials are preparing to arrest the Democrats who ran off to Illinois earlier this week. The governor would not say if the FBI should get involved, but added, &#8220;All I can say is we&#8217;re going to use every tool that we can to make sure that these runaway Democrats are going to be held accountable.&#8221;
Abbott told NBC News that it doesn&#8217;t matter how long Texas Democrats shirk their responsibilities in the legislature, saying that he will push the congressional map through, even if it takes years. &#8220;Democrats act like they&#8217;re not going to come back as long as this is an issue. That means they&#8217;re not going to come back until like 2027 or 2028, because I&#8217;m going to call special session after special session after special session with the same agenda items on there,&#8221; he said.
Abbott defended the push for the new congressional map in his state, saying that &#8220;both the law and facts have changed since we drew the lines back in 2021.&#8221;
&#8220;A lot of people who voted Republican, who voted for Donald Trump, were trapped into Democrat districts,&#8221; the governor said. &#8220;And so when you look at the facts, when you look at the law, there is every reason to go ahead and draw the lines so that we can assure that every voter is going to have the opportunity to vote for their candidate of choice.&#8221;
The new map would give Republicans nearly 80% of the state&#8217;s congressional districts. The move from Texas Republicans has resulted in some Democratic leaders threatening to take seats away from Republicans through redistricting in other states. Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) said on Thursday that the FBI agreed to assist Texas in tracking down the AWOL Democrats after he sent a letter to FBI Director Kash Patel, The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/fbi-assisting-texas-in-hunt-for-runaway-democrats-gop-senator-says">reported</a>. An FBI spokesperson declined to comment when The Daily Wire reached out to the bureau.

Former Acting Director Brian Driscoll is one of three FBI officials being let go as of Friday. No official reasons have been given for the firings, though a number of sources have tied them to the roles those officials played during the January 6th investigations.
MSNBC&#8217;s Ken Dilanian cited an anonymous &#8220;source directly familiar&#8221; and claimed that Driscoll&#8217;s ouster was directly related to his <a href="https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2025/feb/2/brian-driscoll-acting-fbi-director-thin-ice-refusi/">refusal to carry out an order</a> from then Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove, who instructed him to compile a list of all agents — current and former — who had ever been assigned to cases related to January 6th.

The other two officials who were let go were Walter Giardina — who played a role in the investigation of former Trump trade official Peter Navarro — and Steve Jensen, who served as Acting Director of the Washington Field Office and was directly involved in the January 6th investigations.
Critics from legacy media — and many on social media — are accusing the FBI of conducting a &#8220;purge,&#8221; while others are pointing out the fact that the FBI Director can make personnel decisions as he sees fit — and if Driscoll did, in fact, ignore a lawful order, that could have played into the decision.

The FBI will help track down the Democratic state lawmakers who fled Texas in a bid to stop their state legislature from enacting a GOP redistricting plan, Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) said on Thursday.
Cornyn made the announcement two days after sending a <a href="https://www.cornyn.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Letter-to-FBI-on-Texas-Legislators.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> to FBI Director Kash Patel requesting that the bureau help Texas state law enforcement locate or arrest the Democrats after they potentially broke the law.
&#8220;I am proud to announce that Director Kash Patel has approved my request for the FBI to assist state and local law enforcement in locating runaway Texas House Democrats,&#8221; Cornyn said in a <a href="https://www.cornyn.senate.gov/news/fbi-grants-cornyn-request-to-hold-fleeing-texas-legislators-accountable/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a>. &#8220;I thank President Trump and Director Patel for supporting and swiftly acting on my call for the federal government to hold these supposed lawmakers accountable for fleeing Texas. We cannot allow these rogue legislators to avoid their constitutional responsibilities.&#8221;
An FBI spokesperson declined to comment when The Daily Wire reached out to the bureau.

Dozens of Democratic Texas state lawmakers <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/texas-dems-cant-win-redistricting-fight-so-they-bravely-turn-tail-and-flee-the-state" target="_blank" rel="noopener">went AWOL</a> over the weekend with a stated purpose of preventing the state legislature from passing a new redistricting plan that could lead to Republicans gaining as many as five seats in the U.S. House. They are doing so by denying the quorum needed to conduct business for a special session.
Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott has <a href="https://gov.texas.gov/news/post/governor-abbott-orders-texas-department-of-public-safety-to-arrest-delinquent-house-democrats" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ordered</a> the arrest of the Democrats who have refused to return and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/abbott-moves-to-oust-democrat-who-led-texas-walkout-stunt" target="_blank" rel="noopener">filed</a> suit to remove Democrat House Caucus Chair Gene Wu from office after he led the walkout effort.
In his letter to Patel, Cornyn wrote, &#8220;Abbott and Texas state law enforcement officers are doing what they can within the confines of the law, but federal help may be necessary. These legislators have committed potential criminal acts in their rush to avoid their constitutional responsibilities and must be fully investigated and held accountable.&#8221;
Cornyn made the request for FBI support as he runs for another six-year term in the Senate. He is facing a primary challenge from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who has <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/5437325-texas-democrats-paxton/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">warned</a> that he will begin removing the Democratic lawmakers from office if they do not meet a Friday deadline set by the state House speaker. Paxton also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/beto-orourkes-pac-bankrolls-texas-democrats-escape-from-redistricting-standoff" target="_blank" rel="noopener">launched</a> an investigation into a group led by Democrat Beto O&#8217;Rourke that is bankrolling the runaway Democrats.
Democrats have criticized the GOP&#8217;s reaction to what they argue is an effort to stop gerrymandering. That includes former Rep. Colin Allred (D-TX), who is also running in the 2026 Senate race against Cornyn and Paxton after losing to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) in a 2024 contest.

&#8220;We uncovered this annex, along with thousands of other documents, buried in a back room at the FBI,&#8221; Patel <a href="https://x.com/FBIDirectorKash/status/1951012713930354869" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a post on X. &#8220;It revealed a highly classified piece of the Durham report: evidence that the Clinton campaign plotted to frame President Trump and fabricate the Russia collusion hoax. We worked with Chairman Grassley and declassified the documents immediately. And now the American people can see the truth for themselves. The Russia hoax was a disgrace that President Trump and our country should’ve never been put through.&#8221;
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), who is chairman of the Judiciary Committee and a lead Russia-gate investigator who pushed for the declassification of the annex, released the document on Thursday.
&#8220;This political weaponization has caused critical damage to our institutions and is one of the biggest political scandals and cover-ups in American history,&#8221; Grassley said in a statement. &#8220;The new Trump administration has a tremendous responsibility to the American people to fix the damage done and do so with maximum speed and transparency.&#8221;
Attorney General Pam Bondi has already initiated a new &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/justice-department-to-form-strike-force-to-assess-weaponization-of-intel-community" target="_blank" rel="noopener">strike force</a>&#8221; tasked with evaluating the evidence relating the Obama administration&#8217;s efforts to drive the Russia collusion allegations in response to various documents the Trump administration has been releasing to the public, such as findings that allegedly show officials in the Obama administration <a href="https://www.dni.gov/index.php/newsroom/press-releases/press-releases-2025/4090-pr-18-25" target="_blank" rel="noopener">manufactured and manipulated</a> intelligence regarding Russia to undermine Trump.
The declassified <a href="https://www.grassley.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/declassified_durham_annex_released_by_chairman_grassley.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">annex</a>, which still contains some redactions, spoke of how the FBI received information detailing a plan that Clinton purportedly approved to use firms to spread disinformation through media, expecting the bureau to &#8220;put more oil into the fire&#8221; and distract from her email scandal. Durham also wrote how it seemed the FBI &#8220;dismissed&#8221; the intelligence as &#8220;not credible without any investigative steps actually having been taken to either corroborate or disprove the allegations.”
Former President Barack Obama and top national security veterans from his administration have <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/30/opinion/trump-obama-treason-russia-miller.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pushed back</a> on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/obama-denies-bizarre-trump-claims-of-2016-election-hoax" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claims</a> of there being a &#8220;treasonous conspiracy,&#8221; but the Trump administration has pledged to keep on digging into the matter.

Newly declassified intelligence documents released Thursday revealed Hillary Clinton personally approved a campaign plan to &#8220;smear&#8221; then-candidate Donald Trump with false Russian collusion claims to distract from her email scandal during the 2016 presidential race.
Special counsel John Durham uncovered the information during his multi-year investigation into intelligence activities during the 2016 election.
The <a href="https://www.scribd.com/document/895553887/Declassified-Durham-Annex-Released-by-Chairman-Grassley#download&amp;from_embed">intelligence</a>, released Monday by Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), came from two memos obtained by the Obama administration containing &#8220;confidential conversations&#8221; between members of the DNC and George Soros&#8217;s Open Society Foundations before the 2016 election.
According to the declassified files, Clinton personally approved a plan proposed by her foreign policy advisor, Julianne Smith, to &#8220;smear Donald Trump by magnifying the scandal tied to the intrusion by the Russian special services in the pre-election process to benefit the Republican candidate.&#8221; Smith was later appointed to serve as Ambassador to NATO under President Joe Biden.
One stunning email written by Open Society Foundations Senior Vice President Leonard Bernardo, dated July 27, 2016, stated: &#8220;HRC [Hillary Clinton] approved Julia&#8217;s [sic] idea about Trump and Russian hackers hampering U.S. elections. That should distract people from her own missing email, especially if the affair goes to the Olympic level.&#8221;
&#8220;The point is making the Russian play a U.S. domestic issue,&#8221; Bernado continued, adding, &#8220;In absence of direct evidence, Crowdstrike and ThreatConnect will supply the media, and GRU [Russia&#8217;s foreign intelligence arm] will hopefully carry on to give more facts.&#8221;
Durham’s team spoke with analysts and officers who assessed these emails were likely authentic. The special counsel&#8217;s team believe the emails, apparently from Benardo, were a &#8220;composite&#8221; of emails hacked by Russian intelligence from U.S. think tanks.
The Clinton campaign&#8217;s plan included &#8220;raising the theme of &#8216;Putin&#8217;s support for Trump'&#8221; and pushing public opinion to &#8220;equate&#8221; the Russian leader&#8217;s influence campaign with actual election infrastructure hacking. It also involved distributing &#8220;the necessary information through the FBI-affiliated … technical structures … in particular, the Crowdstrike and ThreatConnect companies, from where the information would then be disseminated through leading U.S. publications,&#8221; according to another email from Bernardo.
The email predicted that the FBI would &#8220;put more oil into the fire&#8221; of the Russia collusion narrative, with Obama even <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/07/31/us-news/hillary-clinton-approved-plan-hatched-by-campaign-aides-to-smear-trump-with-russia-collusion-declassified-docs/">considering</a> shutting down the bureau&#8217;s investigation into Clinton&#8217;s emails, according to the New York Post.
&#8220;Smith was, at minimum, playing a role in the Clinton campaign&#8217;s efforts to tie Trump to Russia,&#8221; Durham concluded.
Senator Chuck Grassley <a href="https://www.grassley.senate.gov/news/news-releases/newly-declassified-appendix-to-durham-report-sheds-additional-light-on-clinton-campaign-plan-to-falsely-tie-trump-to-russia-and-fbis-failure-to-investigate">said</a> in a statement: &#8220;Based on the Durham annex, the Obama FBI failed to adequately review and investigate intelligence reports showing the Clinton campaign may have been ginning up the fake Trump-Russia narrative for Clinton&#8217;s political gain, which was ultimately done through the Steele Dossier and other means.&#8221;
&#8220;The American people deserve the full, unfiltered truth about the Russia collusion hoax and the political abuse of our justice system it exposed,&#8221; FBI Director Kash Patel stated, characterizing it as &#8220;one of the most shameful frauds ever perpetrated on the American public.&#8221;

FBI Director Kash Patel found a trove of classified documents related to the Trump-Russia probe buried inside &#8220;burn bags&#8221; in a secret room at FBI headquarters, Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/patel-found-thousands-sensitive-trump-russia-probe-docs-inside-burn-bags-secret-room-fbi">reported</a> on Wednesday.
Among the thousands of documents discovered was the classified annex of special counsel John Durham&#8217;s final report on the Russian collusion conspiracy, according to multiple sources cited by Fox News. Durham&#8217;s classified annex reportedly contains the purported evidence against President Donald Trump that he reviewed. The burn bags found by Patel are used to destroy classified documents.
Sources told Fox News that the classified annex contains evidence from &#8220;credible foreign sources&#8221; indicating that the FBI might have played a role in spreading the Trump–Russia collusion conspiracy before it launched the Crossfire Hurricane probe.
&#8220;Ultimately, the release of the classified annex will lend more credibility to the assertion that there was a coordinated plan inside the U.S. government to help the Clinton campaign stir up controversy connecting Trump to Russia,&#8221; said one source who spoke to Fox News on condition of anonymity.
The Trump administration is in the process of declassifying Durham&#8217;s annex as Patel coordinates with CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and acting National Security Agency Director William Hartman. Patel and his team reportedly found the documents in a sensitive compartmented information facility (SCIF) that was previously undisclosed in the FBI headquarters. The FBI director hinted at finding a secret room at the bureau&#8217;s headquarters during a June interview with podcast giant Joe Rogan, but he did not reveal what documents the room contained.

WASHINGTON—The FBI is investigating the Saturday night beating of a man and woman in Cincinnati, The Daily Wire has learned.
The FBI launched an investigation into the matter at Attorney General Pam Bondi&#8217;s direction, a Justice Department official shared with The Daily Wire on Monday evening. The official also said the bureau is already conducting interviews with suspects.
The news comes after Vice President JD Vance and other members of President Donald Trump&#8217;s administration <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/vance-calls-for-man-caught-in-viral-video-punching-woman-to-be-jailed-for-a-very-long-time">condemned the incident</a>, which took place Saturday night at the Cincinnati Music Festival.
<a href="https://x.com/still_hustling/status/1949142756196065519">Footage showed</a> a violent mob throwing a man to the ground and kicking and punching him, then punching a woman in the face and apparently knocking her unconscious. The video quickly went viral online, and the city’s police chief vowed to identify and find the culprits responsible for the “cruel and absolutely unacceptable” behavior.

“What I saw, and I haven’t seen the full context, but what I saw a mob of lawless thugs beating up on an innocent person and it’s disgusting,” Vance <a href="https://x.com/RapidResponse47/status/1949850196143174059" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said of the incident</a>. “And I hope every single one of those people who engaged in violence is prosecuted to the full extent of the law.&#8221;
&#8220;And they will be,&#8221; he added. &#8220;They will be so long as law enforcement in the state of Ohio take their jobs seriously.”
Cincinnati Fraternal Order of Police President Ken Kober also condemned the violence, including the people who watched the mob beat the two individuals without attempting to help.
“The violence this video shows downtown is disgusting,” Kober told the local news outlet <a href="https://www.fox19.com/2025/07/27/ll-cool-j-brings-surprise-guest-stage-during-final-night-cincinnati-music-festival/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">WLWT</a>. “What’s equally disgusting is those who chose to watch and record instead of calling 911, attempting to defuse the situation or render aid.&#8221;
&#8220;I have full faith in the Central Business Section Investigators — they will make arrests in the near future,&#8221; he added. &#8220;It will then be the responsibility of the court system to hold these violent thugs accountable.”

A gunman shot multiple people in a New York City office building on Monday before turning the gun on himself.
The gunman killed at least one police officer and injured another. Four people inside the office building, a skyscraper in midtown Manhattan, were killed, according to <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/active-shooter-report-prompts-massive-police-response-midtown-manhattan-business-district">Fox News</a>. The gunman reportedly died by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed that the gunman is dead, <a href="https://x.com/NYPDPC/status/1949981438842941663">posting</a> on X that &#8220;the scene has been contained and the lone shooter has been neutralized.&#8221;
Officials have tentatively identified the shooter as a 27-year-old from Las Vegas, according to <a href="https://www.cnn.com/us/live-news/new-york-city-midtown-manhattan-shooting-07-28-25#cmdnsyogl001o3b6nhh3p0qqa">CNN</a>.
Security camera footage from the office building appears to have caught images of the shooter as he was walking inside. The gunman appeared to be carrying a rifle.
He began shooting in the lobby of the building before traveling to another floor and shooting again. He eventually made his way to the 33rd floor of the building where he fatally shot himself, sources told Fox News.
Former FBI agent Stuart Kaplan theorized that the gunman had some connection to one of the businesses operating inside the skyscraper. &#8220;He knew exactly where he wanted to be and where he wanted to go,&#8221; Kaplan <a href="https://x.com/EricLDaugh/status/1949985849522721153">said</a>.
The office building the gunman entered houses Blackstone and the NFL headquarters. New York City police and FBI agents swarmed the area on Monday afternoon amid reports of an active shooter.
Local and federal officials began posting updates as videos from the response rocketed across social media.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams posted a <a href="https://x.com/nycmayor/status/1949971560330059818">warning</a> to social media: “New Yorkers: there is an active shooter investigation taking place in Midtown right now. Please take proper safety precautions if you are in vicinity (sic) and do not go outside if you are near Park Avenue and East 51st Street.”
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino posted to X that the FBI joined the law enforcement response.
“FBI New York Field Office management personnel and agents are responding to provide support at the active crime scene in Manhattan,” Bongino <a href="https://x.com/FBIDDBongino/status/1949970080294449243">said</a>.
