<p>A member of the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/secret-service" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Secret Service</a> was robbed at gunpoint during President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joe Biden</a>&#8216;s visit to California over the weekend, according to authorities.</p>
<p>Police in Tustin <a href="https://x.com/MattSeedorff/status/1802825242479665359" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a press release that officers responded to the call of a possible robbery at around 9:36 p.m. PT on Saturday in a local residential community.</p>
<p>Officers found a member of the Secret Service whose bag was stolen at gunpoint, Tustin police said, adding that an &#8220;officer (agent) involved shooting occurred&#8221; during the incident.</p>
<p>Tustin police said it was unclear whether any suspect was injured as a result of the shooting, but officers did locate some of the victim&#8217;s belongings in the area.</p>
<p>Authorities opened an investigation into the incident and shared an image of a suspect vehicle, which may be a 2004-2006 silver Infiniti FX35 or a similar vehicle.</p>

<p>&#8220;There is no known threat to the public,&#8221; Tustin police added.</p>
<p>In a <a href="https://www.scrippsnews.com/us-news/crime/scripps-news-exclusive-secret-service-confirms-agent-was-robbed-at-gunpoint-during-bidens-california-trip" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a>, Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said the &#8220;victim of an armed robbery&#8221; was an employee who &#8220;was returning from a work assignment.&#8221;</p>
<p>Guglielmi said the employee &#8220;discharged their service weapon during the incident&#8221; and noted that it was &#8220;unknown if the assailants were struck.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;We are thankful that the employee did not sustain any injuries,&#8221; Guglielmi added.</p>
<p>Biden <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/obama-grabs-bidens-hand-leads-him-off-stage-at-hollywood-fundraiser" target="_blank" rel="noopener">attended</a> a fundraiser in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/los-angeles" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Los Angeles</a> on Saturday evening with Hollywood celebrities and former President Barack Obama.</p>
<p>Scripps News <a href="https://www.scrippsnews.com/us-news/crime/scripps-news-exclusive-secret-service-confirms-agent-was-robbed-at-gunpoint-during-bidens-california-trip" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that Biden had returned to his hotel in Los Angeles a little before 9 p.m.</p>

<p>While it is unclear whether the Secret Service employee who was mugged was attached to Biden&#8217;s visit, the robbery prompted some political commentary on social media about public safety in the United States.</p>

<p>Biden is running for a second term. An official with his re-election campaign said more than $30 million was raised at the star-studded fundraiser in Los Angeles, <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/biden-campaign-rakes-28-million-ahead-star-studded-los-angeles-fundrai-rcna157371" target="_blank" rel="noopener">per NBC News</a>.</p>
