“Little House on the Prairie” star <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">Melissa Gilbert</a> recently discussed moving away from <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/hollywood">Hollywood</a> more than a decade ago after realizing its negative impact on her life.
The 60-year-old actress, who played Laura Ingalls Wilder on the series starting when she was 9, said she was getting excessive attention in Tinseltown. 
&#8220;All of the pressures, I faced all of them,&#8221; Gilbert said in an interview with <a href="https://people.com/melissa-gilbert-says-she-had-to-escape-hollywood-in-2013-exclusive-8706619">People</a>. &#8220;When you live in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/los-angeles">Los Angeles</a>, it’s like living at the mall when you work at the mall. Literally, everyone is in the business. When you walk into a restaurant, every head turns to see who walked in.”

It puts a lot of pressure on staying thin and staying young, and really it makes it hard to feel comfortable in one&#8217;s own skin, because [of] the aging process.&#8221;
The actress said L.A.&#8217;s obsession with looking young was part of the problem.
&#8220;No matter how much we push it downstream, it&#8217;s inevitable,&#8221; Gilbert continued. &#8220;So are you going to age comfortably and happily? Are you going to fight it, be unhealthy and feel like there&#8217;s something wrong with you for aging and that you&#8217;re defective because you&#8217;ve gotten older?&#8221;
She discussed moving to Michigan in 2013 with her husband Timothy Busfield and halting cosmetic procedures, like Botox, and even had her breast implants removed. The former child star stressed how living outside the Hollywood bubble has been a liberating experience.

Convicted felon <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/hunter-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hunter Biden</a>, son of President Joe Biden, released a statement on Thursday following his decision to plead guilty to nine tax counts, saying that he wanted to spare his family the pain of going through another criminal trial.
Hunter Biden pled guilty to three felonies and six misdemeanors in a Los Angeles federal court on Thursday and did so without having any deal with prosecutors to reduce the penalties that he now faces, which includes a maximum prison sentence of 17 years and a maximum fine of more than $1 million — penalties that are separate from the penalties he faces after being convicted of three firearm-related felonies in June.

Three suspects arrested in conjunction with the murder of soap actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">Johnny Wactor</a> pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Robert Isaiah Barceleau, 18, was charged with <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/crime">murder</a> and the special-circumstance allegation of murder during the commission of an attempted robbery, according to <a href="https://www.foxla.com/news/johnny-wactor-arraignment-robert-barceleau-sergio-estrada">Fox 11</a> in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/los-angeles">Los Angeles</a>. Sergio Estrada, 18, was also charged with murder, but is not charged with the special-circumstance allegation, and was charged with attempted robbery, grand theft, and additional gun charges.
Frank Olano, 22, was the third suspect who pleaded not guilty to being an accessory to murder after the fact. He was charged with receiving stolen property and three counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Meanwhile, Leonel Gutierrez, 18, is charged with attempted robbery and grand theft by embezzlement. Both of those charges include gun allegations. His attorney said Gutierrez will plead guilty on September 11.
Wactor, 37, was leaving his job as a bartender over Memorial Day weekend when he came upon some individuals standing near his car. The actor first thought the vehicle was being towed before figuring out that the suspects were attempting to steal his catalytic converter, according to his friend who witnessed the crime. When Wactor tried to intervene, he was shot and later died from his injuries.
Wactor’s best friend Micah Parker <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-pro-criminal-city-friend-of-murdered-actor-reacts-to-news-that-killers-should-have-already-been-in-jail">spoke to</a> The Daily Wire earlier this month about his feelings on Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón’s policies and how he believes they contributed to the tragedy, calling the whole thing “infuriating.”
“This has become a very pro-criminal city, straight up.” Parker said during the interview. “Everything has to be ‘oh, well, what’s the background, what’s their life like?’ But no, it should be, ‘you break the law, you pay the price,’ and with George Gascón’s policies, it’s very much gotten away from that.”

Inmate records show that Barceleau, Gutierrez, and Olano all have previous arrests and that Olano has a previous conviction. Parker pointed out that if they had stayed in jail instead of being released on bond, then the whole thing never would have happened.
During a press conference, Gascón said “this cowardly act led to the loss of a son, a brother and a friend to many.”
“The loss of this talented young actor who was in the prime of his life and had so much to offer to the world is deeply felt by all of us,&#8221; he said, adding that the charges are a &#8220;small consolation for Mr. Wactor&#8217;s friends and family.&#8221;
The three suspects were arraigned before judge Susan De Witt in downtown Los Angeles Superior Court and given a preliminary hearing date of October 16.

Three of the four men arrested for the alleged murder of “General Hospital” actor Johnny Wactor have been previously arrested and released, and Wactor&#8217;s best friend says their cases are the result of Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón’s policies.
On Thursday, the Los Angeles Police Department announced that it had <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/4-suspects-arrested-in-fatal-shooting-of-general-hospital-actor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">arrested four men</a> – all members of the Florencia 13 gang – in connection to the murder of Wactor on May 25. The four suspects are: Robert Barceleau, 18, of Huntington Park; Leonel Gutierrez, 18, of Los Angeles County; Sergio Estrada, 18, of Los Angeles County; and Frank Olano, 22, of Inglewood.
Micah Parker, Wactor&#8217;s best friend, blames the death of his friend on the men believed to be involved and on L.A. District Attorney George Gascón’s soft-on-crime policies.

Barceleau, Gutierrez, and Estrada – the three 18-year-olds – were arrested on suspicion of murder, while 22-year-old Olano is believed to be an accessory. All four are being held in lieu of a $2 million bond.
Inmate records reviewed by The Daily Wire show that Barceleau, Gutierrez, and Olano all have previous arrests, with Olano having a previous conviction. Barceleau and Gutierrez were both arrested and released after Wactor’s murder, CBS News <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/losangeles/news/arrests-made-in-los-angeles-shooting-death-of-general-hospital-actor-johnny-wactor/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
The fact that these men had been arrested and released – some prior to Wactor’s murder – didn’t sit well with Parker.
“It’s infuriating,” Parker said. “[Olano] was arrested before the murder, imagine if [he] had stayed in jail, maybe none of this would have happened. And they had them in custody – one of them, 11 days after the murder – and yet, they were released on bond. After an assault with a deadly weapon charge.”
Eleven days after Wactor was murdered, Barceleau was arrested for an assault with a deadly weapon. He was also arrested in July for an undisclosed misdemeanor. He received a citation for the misdemeanor and was released on $125,000 bail for the assault with a deadly weapon charge.
Gutierrez was arrested for felony vandalism on July 19, nearly a month before he was arrested for Wactor’s murder. The reason given for his release was that he was a juvenile, even though he is 18.
Frank Olano had been arrested twice before Wactor’s murder, once in 2022 for a felony, and again in 2023 for two more charges, including another felony, for which he spent a few days in jail. Olano received probation for felony vandalism during Wactor’s murder, CBS reported.
Gascón survived a recall election but faces a hard-fought re-election bid against challenger Nathan Hochman.

Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/murder">death</a> of “General Hospital” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">actor</a> Johnny Wactor, which occurred May 25 as he tried to stop thieves from stealing his catalytic converter.
Law enforcement officials <a href="https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2024-08-15/gang-arrest-warrants-issued-in-killing-of-general-hospital-actor-johnny-wactor">told</a> the Los Angeles Times that they had focused their investigation on members of the Florencia 13 gang, as they were known for stealing catalytic converters in the area. Wactor was shot and killed when he approached a group of individuals near his car in the early morning hours.
Robert Barceleau, 18, of Huntington Park; Leonel Gutierrez, 18, of Los Angeles County; Sergio Estrada, 18, of Los Angeles County; and Frank Olano, 22, of Inglewood, were all arrested.

The three main suspects were held Thursday in lieu of a $2 million bond.

“The message is pretty obvious…they want safe streets and justice,” Wactor’s brother Grant said at the time. “I don’t live here, so I didn’t realize how bad the situation already was for any of this to even happen … apparently this has been a problem that has needed to be fixed for a while, so someone has to fix it.”

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dr-dre-threatens-marjorie-taylor-greene-with-legal-action-she-fires-back-in-response">Dr. Dre</a> has partnered with a public school system in Los Angeles, where he and entrepreneur Jimmy Iovine will open a new high school in an area where other schools face closure by June 2025.
The music mogul and Iovine announced the opening of the <a href="https://iovineandyoungcenter.org/">Iovine and Young Center Academy</a> in Inglewood, with the school set to open in August 2025 as part of the Inglewood Unified School District, the <a href="https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2024-08-13/dr-dre-jimmy-iovine-to-open-high-school-in-inglewood">Los Angeles Times</a> reported. Five other school closures are a possibility in the district due to its financial troubles.
“We wanted to start in the inner city, because Dre and especially me, I owe a lot to the inner city of Los Angeles and we intend to pay it back,” Iovine told the Times.
“We believe that this will differentiate them in the workforce and colleges,” he added, per <a href="https://www.foxla.com/news/dr-dre-opens-new-school-academy-inglewood">FOX 11</a>. “To go out and say you have an education in disciplinary learning, being able to collaborate with different disciplines and innovate is an advantage.”
“[Dr. Dre and Iovine] will be investing in state of the art technology, professional development for staff, and any requisite campus improvements necessary to create the new academy,” district spokesperson Jessica Ochoa said.

The Young Academy will be located on the campus of Crozier Middle School, which is supposed to close in 2025. It is expected to open to ninth-grade students in Aug. 2025 and will eventually expand until it includes 12th graders for the 2028-2029 school year.
Families living in the Inglewood district have opted to send their kids out of the area to charter schools or other districts after Inglewood faced fiscal mismanagement and declining enrollment.
The announcement marks the second such public school venture for Dre and Iovine after the two opened a high school in the Los Angeles Unified School District, the Times noted.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/tom-hanks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tom Hanks</a> and wife actress Rita Wilson’s home in Los Angeles was reportedly burglarized, making the superstar couple the latest celebrities to have their home hit by burglars.
Law enforcement sources told <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2024/08/05/tom-hanks-rita-wilson-home-burglarized-los-angeles/?adid=social-tw">TMZ</a> that a few weeks back, the guest home on the property of the 68-year-old actor was broken into in broad daylight by thieves who smashed the glass to get in.
Sources said the break-in set off the alarm, but apparently didn’t deter the thieves. Luckily, both the “Forrest Gump” star and his wife were out of town and were not injured in the attack on their property, the outlet noted.
The main home was not breached and it is unclear what, if anything, was stolen. &#8220;We&#8217;re not seeing the entire house being ransacked,&#8221; Choi said. &#8220;These individuals that are conducting these high-end burglaries know what they&#8217;re looking for, and they&#8217;re in and out in a few minutes.&#8221;
In March, the LAPD said there had been over 900 residential burglaries across the city since January, some of which were committed by burglars who may be using new technology to circumvent home security systems.
On March 4, the Wilshire department of the LAPD acknowledged, “Wilshire area has been subjected to various residential burglaries, involving 3-4 suspects using Wi-Fi jammers as they enter victims’ residences. The Los Angeles Police Department is seeking your help to deter such burglaries.”
No arrests have been announced in the reported burglary at the Hanks home as of the time of this publication.

The Daily Mail <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13620961/casey-wasserman-married-2028-la-olympics-serial-cheater.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that 50-year-old Casey Wasserman, CEO of Wasserman, a leading sports and entertainment agency, allegedly had &#8220;a chronic condition of sleeping with people who work for him.&#8221;
Wasserman, who has <a href="https://www.opensecrets.org/search?order=desc&amp;q=Casey+Wasserman&amp;sort=A&amp;type=donors" target="_blank" rel="noopener">given</a> millions of dollars to the Democrat Party and had ties to notorious child sex predator Jeffrey Epstein, allegedly &#8220;love bombed&#8221; the women whom he had romantic interest in, showering them with lavish gifts that included designer items and Range Rovers.

His alleged affairs started approximately five years into his marriage with his wife Laura Ziffren, according to some of the nearly dozen sources who spoke to the publication. Ziffren filed for divorce in 2021.

That&#8217;s protesting a people. And that is a cross of any line in America. And it has to be called out.&#8221;
&#8220;And you have to also understand the context here. He said that what the Left-wing group did was not a protest but a &#8220;pogrom&#8221; — an event designed to violently attack Jews.
&#8220;I think it&#8217;s a little bit naive for some of the people to think that if Israel would just suddenly just stop doing what it&#8217;s doing, that rainbows and bunnies and sunshine would break out over the Middle East, it would all be fine,&#8221; he said. &#8220;The hostages have to be returned. California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom and the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) faced backlash on Sunday as mobs of pro-Hamas extremists attacked Jews outside of a synagogue in Los Angeles.
The pro-Hamas extremists gathered in front of the Adas Torah synagogue on Sunday morning to block entrance into the buildings, which here hosting an Israeli real estate seminar, which later drew pro-Israel counterprotestors.
Despite the violence that was inflicted on the pro-Israel protesters, only one person was arrested for allegedly carrying a &#8220;spiked flag,&#8221; The Los Angeles Times <a href="https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2024-06-23/pro-palestinian-protesters-and-supporters-of-israel-engage-in-violent-clash-outside-a-west-l-a-synagogue">reported</a>.
Rabbi Hertzel Illulian blasted local officials in the Democrat-run state for having a double standard about how Jews can be treated.
&#8220;Doesn&#8217;t belong here,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I don&#8217;t think the Jewish would go in front of a mosque or the Christian people would go in front of a mosque to do such a thing, nobody would accept this, but here, when it comes to Jews and Israel everything is kosher, everything is okay.&#8221;
Political consultant Noah Pollak, who attended the event, posted on X: &#8220;I was there today for an event at the shul. @LAPDHQ let the Hamas supporters take over the sidewalk in front of the shul and block its entrance.&#8221;
&#8220;In fact, LAPD had formed a cordon around the front of the shul to keep Jews out and Hamas supporters in,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;I tried to enter with my kids through the front door and was turned away not by Hamas supporters but by the LAPD. Anyone who wanted to attend had to use a secret back entrance. @KarenBassLA and @LAPDHQ are an absolute disgrace &#8212; it&#8217;s clear the police have been instructed to help the Democratic Party street animals do their thuggery. They were definitely not there to protect the right of Jews to enter their shul.&#8221;
The United Jewish Coalition issued a statement following the incident: &#8220;The Jews of Los Angeles are no longer safe. The events of June 23rd brought to life the darkest nightmare many of us hoped we would never witness on American soil.&#8221;
Newsom faced widespread calls to do something or at least issue a statement in response to the attacks, but he didn&#8217;t get around to doing it until right before midnight.

A member of the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/secret-service" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Secret Service</a> was robbed at gunpoint during President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joe Biden</a>&#8216;s visit to California over the weekend, according to authorities.
Police in Tustin <a href="https://x.com/MattSeedorff/status/1802825242479665359" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a press release that officers responded to the call of a possible robbery at around 9:36 p.m. PT on Saturday in a local residential community.
Officers found a member of the Secret Service whose bag was stolen at gunpoint, Tustin police said, adding that an &#8220;officer (agent) involved shooting occurred&#8221; during the incident.
Tustin police said it was unclear whether any suspect was injured as a result of the shooting, but officers did locate some of the victim&#8217;s belongings in the area.
Authorities opened an investigation into the incident and shared an image of a suspect vehicle, which may be a 2004-2006 silver Infiniti FX35 or a similar vehicle.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/los-angeles" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Los Angeles</a> City Council members reportedly removed &#8220;no U-turn&#8221; signs from a gay neighborhood over concerns that they would be viewed as &#8220;homophobic,&#8221; and X — formerly Twitter — exploded with reactions to the move.
According to a Los Angeles <a href="https://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/silver-lake-remove-no-u-turn-signs/3433130/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NBC News affiliate</a>, the signs that were removed had been put up in 1997 after locals complained about gay men &#8220;cruising&#8221; in the residential areas near popular gay bars while looking for dates. Several &#8220;no cruising&#8221; signs were also put up around the same time, and were taken down after a Silver Lake Neighborhood Council vote in 2011.
A constituent brought the remaining &#8220;no U-turn&#8221; signs to Los Angeles City Councilmember Nithya Raman, which she said got the bureaucratic ball rolling.
A &#8220;podcast mentioned that there had been &#8216;No Cruising&#8217; signs along Hyperion that had been removed in 2011, but that nine signs still remained on Griffith Park Boulevard. Fellow Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez worked with Raman to have the signs removed, saying that he had not previously understood the impact of those signs.
