U.S. Customs and Border Protection parked a Penske rental truck in a Los Angeles Home Depot parking lot on Wednesday morning, before the back door of the truck rolled open and numerous agents poured out, chasing down suspected illegal immigrants.
The undercover raid, referred to by U.S. Border Patrol Sector Chief Greg Bovino as &#8220;Operation Trojan Horse,&#8221; resulted in 16 arrests, The Los Angeles Times <a href="https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2025-08-06/more-raids-home-depot-in-macarthur-park-raided">reported</a>. The roundup focused on the Home Depot in Westlake, an area of L.A. that the Department of Homeland Security says is overrun by illegal immigrants linked to MS-13, Matt Finn of Fox News reported. DHS did not say if anyone arrested in the Home Depot parking lot on Wednesday was an MS-13 member.

The arrests come shortly after over 1,000 National Guard troops left the area following the riots that broke out in L.A. in response to President Donald Trump&#8217;s crackdown on illegal immigrants. Acting U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli <a href="https://x.com/USAttyEssayli/status/1953117322333348006">commented</a> on Wednesday&#8217;s &#8220;Trojan Horse&#8221; immigration raid, writing on X, &#8220;For those who thought immigration enforcement had stopped in Southern California, think again. The enforcement of federal law is not negotiable, and there are no sanctuaries from the reach of the federal government.&#8221;
Penske released a statement on Customs and Border Protection using one of its trucks in the raid. The company said it was not aware that one of its trucks &#8220;would be used in today&#8217;s operation and did not authorize this.&#8221;
&#8220;Penske will reach out to DHS and reinforce its policy to avoid improper use of its vehicles in the future,&#8221; the company added.

Democratic Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass immediately declared victory when reports began to circulate that more than 1,000 U.S. troops were being pulled back from her city, but it was Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth who got the last word.
Bass shared a New York Times article <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/31/us/troop-withdrawal-los-angeles.html">reporting</a> the imminent drawdown of 1,350 American service members — who were initially deployed to the California city to protect federal personnel and property as violent protests and riots threatened the work and safety of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents — and added her own comment.

Hegseth responded to Bass, explaining that the troops were only leaving Los Angeles because the situation was finally under control — which it certainly was not when they had first arrived — and they were able to redeploy elsewhere having completed a successful mission in her city despite her unwillingness to help.

One of the nation’s leading labor unions has been at the forefront in the fight against Immigration and Customs Enforcement since President Donald Trump returned to the White House. But one of the union’s affiliates is the largest shareholder in a bank that has invested nearly $10 million in companies that contract with ICE, equipping agents for raids and managing illegal alien detention facilities.
The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and its affiliate, Workers United, have both vocally opposed ICE&#8217;s immigration enforcement operations. The SEIU joined recent <a href="https://www.seiu721.org/2025/06/seiu-721-joins-allies-to-launch-the-summer-of-resistance.php">protests</a> against ICE in Los Angeles and <a href="https://act.seiu.org/a/end-ice-raids-now">railed</a> against the “ICE terror machine.” The union’s anti-ICE activism hit a fever pitch after SEIU leader David Huerta was arrested by federal agents and <a href="https://thehill.com/regulation/court-battles/5340866-labor-chief-huerta-charged-ice-raid/">charged</a> with conspiracy to impede an officer after he allegedly attempted to prevent federal authorities from executing a search warrant in Los Angeles.
Workers United has <a href="https://workersunited.org/joint-boards/laundry-distribution-and-food-service-joint-board">said</a> that it is “committed to passing comprehensive immigration reform that allows all immigrant workers to live and work without fear,&#8221; and the Starbucks Workers United division has <a href="https://x.com/SBWorkersUnited/status/1932179453637206041">called for</a> “an end to the ICE raids.”
Workers United is also the single largest shareholder in Amalgamated Bank, an ideologically-driven financial institution that <a href="https://www.amalgamatedbank.com/csr">parrots</a> left-wing talking points on climate change and the diversity agenda and <a href="https://www.amalgamatedbank.com/our-story">brands itself</a> “America’s socially responsible bank.” The SEIU affiliate owns 40% of Amalgamated Bank, <a href="https://www.amalgamatedbank.com/news/labor-of-love">according to</a> the financial institution. The bank even boasted that the top five Democratic presidential campaigns banked with Amalgamated during the 2020 election season.
But first quarter 2025 <a href="https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/919192/000091919225000004/xslForm13F_X02/form_f13_data_20250331.xml">disclosures</a> filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission reveal that the bank is invested in at least four companies that contract with ICE or Border Patrol.
The bank held over $1.1 million worth of shares in the GEO Group, which &#8220;operates special-purpose, state-of-the-art residential centers on behalf of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement,” <a href="https://www.geogroup.com/ice/">according</a> to the group&#8217;s website.
The bank’s longstanding investment in the GEO Group appears to have been particularly profitable, with the stock increasing in value by nearly 85% since the last quarter of 2022.
The SEC disclosure indicates that Amalgamated Bank held roughly $633,000 in CoreCivic, which <a href="https://www.corecivic.com/private-detention">calls itself</a> “a longstanding federal government partner that operates immigration detention facilities.”
Of the top 20 ICE detention centers by detainee population as of January, Amalgamated Bank was invested in 13 of them because it owns shares of the GEO Group and CoreCivic, research from the Center for Union Facts indicates.
&#8220;Workers United has backed high-profile organizing campaigns by riding the wave of young workers&#8217; progressive ideals,” said the Center for Union Facts&#8217; Communications Director Charlyce Bozzello. “But behind the union’s carefully crafted image as a social justice warrior lies hypocrisy the union doesn&#8217;t publicize. It’s time workers and the public take a hard look at what this union really stands for.&#8221;
Amalgamated Bank also held more than $8.1 million worth of shares in Axon Enterprises, which was <a href="https://www.federalcompass.com/award-contract-detail/70CMSW23D00000003">awarded</a> a multimillion-dollar federal contract to provide ICE agents with tasers. The bank held another $27,000 worth of shares in Cadre Holdings, which does business with <a href="https://www.usaspending.gov/search/?hash=063411641715ddcf41ef7df21aaf07d0">ICE</a> and <a href="https://www.usaspending.gov/award/CONT_AWD_70B03C18F00000197_7014_HSBP1015D00020_7014">Customs and Border Protection</a>, supplying the federal government with riot control equipment under the brand names “Safariland” and “Aardvark.”
Workers United, SEIU, and Amalgamated Bank did not respond to requests for comment.

Three Los Angeles County Sheriff&#8217;s deputies were killed in an explosion at a training center Friday morning.
Local and federal authorities are on the scene investigating after &#8220;a loud noise&#8221; was heard at the sheriff department&#8217;s Biscailuz Center Training Academy, east of downtown, around 7:30 a.m. PT, KTLA <a href="https://ktla.com/news/local-news/explosion-reported-at-east-l-a-sheriffs-training-center/">reported</a>. Aerial footage from the scene showed damage to the rear windshield of what appears to be an L.A. County Sheriff&#8217;s Department bomb squad truck.
L.A. County Sheriff Robert Luna revealed in a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/live/IJJb24ADfgI?si=1-NyZoM0JB9-Uqha&amp;t=10967">press conference</a> that the three deputies killed were assigned to the arson explosives detail. It was previously reported that a fourth person was injured in the explosion and transported to a hospital, but Luna clarified that no one else was wounded in the blast.
&#8220;This is, unfortunately, is the largest loss of life for us as the L.A. County Sheriff&#8217;s Department since 1857. Between all three sworn members, they had served the community proudly for 74 years,&#8221; Luna said.
Authorities are not yet releasing the names of those killed in the blast as family members are still being notified.
Luna said that &#8220;there is a lot more that we don&#8217;t know than what we do know&#8221; about what caused the explosion. He added that homicide detectives are on the scene investigating the deaths with the assistance of the FBI. The LAPD&#8217;s bomb squad successfully &#8220;render[ed] the devices safe,&#8221; shortly before the sheriff took the podium. Luna said there &#8220;is no threat to this community.&#8221;
The Los Angeles Times <a href="https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2025-07-18/explosion-la-sheriff-training-facility">reported</a> that a bomb squad was moving an explosive ordnance at the time of the explosion. The Los Angeles Police Department’s bomb squad arrived at the scene a little over an hour after the blast.
&#8220;I just spoke to [U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli] about what appears to be a horrific incident that killed at least three at a law enforcement training facility in Los Angeles,&#8221; U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi <a href="https://x.com/AGPamBondi/status/1946234954620313884">said</a>. &#8220;Our federal agents are at the scene and we are working to learn more. Please pray for the families of the sheriff’s deputies killed.&#8221;

The Pentagon announced Tuesday that 2,000 National Guardsmen sent to Los Angeles to quell the June riots would be withdrawn. Pentagon Chief Pentagon Spokesman Sean Parnell cited mission success as the reason for the withdrawal.
In a <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-military-remove-2000-national-guard-troops-los-angeles-2025-07-15/">statement</a> Tuesday, Parnell said, &#8220;Thanks to our troops who stepped up to answer the call, the lawlessness in Los Angeles is subsiding. … As such, the Secretary has ordered the release of 2,000 California National Guardsmen from the federal protection mission.&#8221;
Following increased apprehension rates by ICE agents in the Los Angeles area in early June, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kill-ice-foreign-flags-and-fires-sweep-la-as-riots-erupt-against-immigration-enforcement">protests</a> against the federal agents broke out. Videos quickly surfaced of rioters throwing bricks and Molotov cocktails at armored vehicles.
Responding decisively to what he <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-vows-to-liberate-los-angeles-shut-down-migrant-riots-and-insurrectionist-mobs">called</a> &#8220;violent, insurrectionist mobs,&#8221; President Donald Trump federalized 4,000 members of the California National Guard within days. An appeals court promptly heard the case and dismissed it. &#8220;Both irreparable harm and the public interest weigh in favor of Defendants, who have an uncontested interest in the protection of federal agents and property and the faithful execution of law,&#8221; the court wrote in its decision.
L.A. Mayor Karen Bass originally fumed over Trump&#8217;s deployment of soldiers to her city, <a href="https://x.com/EricLDaugh/status/1931789763943547121">calling</a> it a &#8220;chaotic escalation.&#8221; Within a few days of the federal troops&#8217; arrival in L.A., Bass instituted a curfew.

According to a new <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/sen-marsha-blackburn-bill-targets-lawless-states-no-free-passes-after-anti-ice-riots">estimate</a>, the deployment of the 4,000 National Guards and 700 Marines cost the federal government around $130 million. 
Reacting to the news that half of the active National Guardsmen in Los Angeles will be withdrawn, Bass said in a <a href="https://x.com/MayorOfLA/status/1945265117202977226">post</a> that, &#8220;This retreat happened because the people of Los Angeles stood united and stood strong. … We will not stop making our voices heard until this ends, not just here in LA, but throughout our country.&#8221;

The Oklahoma Republicans are introducing the resolution weeks after 30-year-old recording artist Nezza — full name Vanessa Hernandez — <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/latin-rb-singer-national-anthem-in-spanish-dodgers-game">performed</a> the national anthem in Spanish at a Los Angeles Dodgers game to protest ICE raids in Los Angeles.

Now, Mullin and Bice are leading an effort calling for &#8220;The Star-Spangled Banner&#8221; to only be performed in English, preserving the original version of the anthem as it was written by Francis Scott Key during the Battle of Baltimore in the War of 1812.
“The Star-Spangled Banner is a sacred and unifying tradition that honors our country&#8217;s unbreakable spirit,” Mullin told The Daily Wire. “As our national anthem, it should always be performed as it was originally intended and written, in English.”

“A no-name singer chose to make a political statement when signing the National Anthem in Spanish at Dodger Stadium,” Bice charged. “The United States is a nation built on shared values, and ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ is a symbol of our unity and resilience. It should never be used for political theater or sung in Spanish.”
“Preserving the original English lyrics in public performances honors the historical context and intent of the anthem as a representation of the Nation’s values and Identity,” the resolution states. “Any public rendition of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ should be performed as written by Francis Scott Key, in the English language, to preserve its historical and cultural integrity,” it goes on to say.
The resolution comes months after President Donald Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-to-issue-order-making-english-official-language-of-u-s">signed</a> an executive order naming English the official language of the United States.
“From the founding of our Republic, English has been used as our national language. Our Nation’s historic governing documents, including the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, have all been written in English,” the Trump White House affirmed in the executive order. “It is therefore long past time that English is declared as the official language of the United States.”
“A nationally designated language is at the core of a unified and cohesive society,” the order added.

A new high-speed train proposal hopes to link Los Angeles and New York City in time for the FIFA World Cup and celebrations for the United States&#8217; 250th birthday next year.
AmeriStarRail, based in Delaware, proposed the plan to Amtrak, as well as to President Donald Trump, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, and Congress, <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/high-speed-rail-new-york-los-angeles-2093565">according</a> to Newsweek.
The train, called the &#8220;Transcontinental Chief,&#8221; would be funded entirely by private investors, not taxpayers, and would transport both passengers and commercial trucks.
&#8220;The Transcontinental Chief will be a great opportunity for Amtrak to team up with the private sector to confront the challenges of its money-losing long-distance trains and create opportunities to usher in a profitable Golden Age of rail travel for passengers and truckers, with the ingenuity of free enterprise, as we celebrate our great nation&#8217;s 250th birthday next year,&#8221; AmeriStarRail Chief Operating Officer Scott Spencer said in a letter to Amtrak.
The train would rely on existing infrastructure from host railroads and include stops at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Chicago, and the Grand Canyon. Amtrak has not yet responded to the proposal, Newsweek reported.
The plan contrasts with another high-speed train project in California, which risks losing its federal funding after failing to make progress for more than a decade, The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-admin-ready-to-pull-the-plug-on-california-high-speed-rail-boondoggle">reported</a>.
Despite receiving about $4 billion for the 800-mile project since 2010, the state has &#8220;not laid a single high-speed track,&#8221; <a href="https://www.transportation.gov/briefing-room/trumps-transportation-secretary-sean-p-duffy-releases-report-exposing-no-viable-path">according</a> to the Trump administration.
When voters approved the project in 2008, the estimated cost was $33 billion. Now, the projected cost has swelled to $128 billion, leaving California about $100 billion short, <a href="https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2024-03-21/high-speed-rail">according</a> to the Los Angeles Times.
The state is currently trying to build the first segment of the project, a 119-mile track connecting Merced to Bakersfield. The estimated completion date is 2033, but the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) says the state doesn&#8217;t have &#8220;a viable path&#8221; to finishing the first phase by the deadline.
California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, who promoted the train when he was mayor of San Francisco, said in May that workers have begun the first phase of the project, &#8220;laying the tracks to get to where they start to lay the tracks.&#8221;
&#8220;It’s a technical way of actually doing the development in phases, so real tracks are being laid, and the formal track that will be the first-in-the-nation high-speed rail track is about to take place,&#8221; Newsom said.
A California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) spokesperson told The Daily Wire in June that the agency remains &#8220;firmly committed&#8221; to the project.
In its response to the FRA, the CHSRA disputed the findings and requested that the agency withdraw the proposed termination of federal funds.
&#8220;The Authority’s work has already reshaped the Central Valley,&#8221; the CHSRA&#8217;s response said. &#8220;We have built many of the viaducts, overpasses, and underpasses on which the first 119 miles of high-speed rail track will run.&#8221;

Border Patrol agents arrested four people on Tuesday, suspected of planting tire spikes in front of vehicles used by federal immigration enforcement agents in Los Angeles in an attempt to impede their mission.
Border Patrol Chief Patrol Agent Gregory Bovino said that the individuals, Jenaro-Ernesto Ayala, 43; Jude Jasmine Jeannine Allard, 28; Sadot Jarnica, 54; and Daniel Montenegro, 30, were arrested for “interfering with federal agents conducting immigration enforcement operations.”
“They are facing felony charges for placing homemade tire spikes to disable law enforcement vehicles,” Bovino added. “Anyone who interferes with our lawful mission will be arrested.” The four were taken into custody after federal agents <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14889485/feds-photo-transgender-woman-attacks-ice-agents.html">conducted</a> a raid in a Home Depot parking lot in L.A.&#8217;s Van Nuys neighborhood.

Two of those arrested, Ayala and Allard, were <a href="https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2025-07-09/advocates-for-day-laborers-arrested-after-tire-spikes-found-at-immigration-raid">identified</a> as “day laborer advocates” with a non-profit called the “Instituto de Educacion Popular del Sur De California.” The organization claims that the two individuals arrested were observing the federal law enforcement agents and have seen no evidence connecting them to the spikes.
The use of tire spikes against federal agents is one of the latest attempts by leftist agitators in Los Angeles to impede immigration enforcement.
One leftist activist, The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/leftwing-activist-network-distributes-riot-gear-to-los-angeles-anti-ice-agitators?author=Spencer+Lindquist&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=26&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Meet+The+Leftwing+Activist+Using+Social+Media+To+Funnel+Riot+Gear+To+Anti-ICE+Protests">revealed</a>, distributed respirator masks, gloves, and helmets to agitators on the “front lines” of the uprisings against ICE in Los Angeles. “Only grab gear if you are literally going out to the front lines TODAY,” the leftist activist said on social media.
Federal authorities arrested one man who was also found to have passed out respirators to rioters in Los Angeles. The suspect, who was <a href="https://x.com/USAttyEssayli/status/1933158095833964798">charged</a> with conspiracy to commit civil disorders, could face up to five years in prison.
L.A.-area leftists have also revealed the addresses of hotels that were housing ICE agents on social media, luring agitators to the locations who attempted to disrupt the agents&#8217; sleep by creating disturbances in parking lots outside.

Far-Left Activists In L.A. Arrested For Targeting Immigration Enforcement Vehicles With Tire Spikes

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass joined hordes of protesters Monday as they attempted to disrupt an ICE raid on a reported MS-13 hangout.
Dozens of ICE agents and military personnel surrounded Los Angeles&#8217; MacArthur Park early Monday morning, <a href="https://www.foxla.com/news/ice-operation-macarthur-park-july-7-2025?taid=686c0b5776b5a50001564eb2&amp;utm_campaign=trueanthem&amp;utm_medium=trueanthem&amp;utm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox 11 Los Angeles</a> reported. Accompanied by agents on horseback and a Department of Homeland Security helicopter flying overhead, the coordinated raid was aimed at detaining MS-13 members, who reportedly congregate in the park.
Immediately following the agents’ operation, Bass arrived at the park and attempted to speak to ICE officers. Responding to a reporter, Bass <a href="https://x.com/Elex_Michaelson/status/1942289331248587004" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>, &#8220;They need to leave and they need to leave right now &#8230; because this is unacceptable!&#8221;
Later, in a <a href="https://x.com/MayorOfLA/status/1942296116378362055" target="_blank" rel="noopener">post</a> on X, Bass denounced the raid at the park, saying, “Minutes before, there were more than 20 kids playing- then, the MILITARY comes through. The SECOND I heard about this, I went to the park to speak to the person in charge to tell them it needed to end NOW. Absolutely outrageous.”
Protestors arrived at the raid almost as soon as it began. According to one report, one of the armored vehicles had its tires slashed by a protester while others had objects thrown at them.
One transgender <a href="https://x.com/BillMelugin_/status/1942287380175806857/video/1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">protestor</a> confronted the officers, demanding they “Get out of my city!”
After the raid was over, Bass spoke to Border Patrol Chief Agent Gregory Bovino over the phone, asking for the agents’ removal from the park.
When asked what Bovino’s response was, he <a href="https://x.com/BillMelugin_/status/1942313482323648820" target="_blank" rel="noopener">commented</a> to Fox News’s Bill Melugin, “I don’t work for Karen Bass. Better get used to us now, cause this is going to be normal very soon. We will go anywhere, anytime we want in Los Angeles.”

In a statement, Attorney General Pam Bondi blamed these sanctuary policies for the recent anti-ICE riots, which she said were the “driving cause of the violence, chaos, and attacks on law enforcement that Americans recently witnessed in Los Angeles.” She added that jurisdictions like L.A. “that flout federal law by prioritizing illegal aliens over American citizens are undermining law enforcement at every level.” The DOJ has also <a href="https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/justice-department-files-lawsuit-against-sanctuary-city-policies-los-angeles-california">targeted</a> other sanctuary city policies, including in New York.
The Trump administration has consistently made detaining and deporting illegal aliens one of its main policy priorities. Recently, <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/2025/06/30/ice-raids-arrests-workers-companies/">dozens</a> of workplace raids have been carried out across the nation, in states like California, Florida, Texas, Pennsylvania, and many others. It appears that illegals with and without criminal backgrounds – aside from illegally entering the U.S. – have been picked up. Daily immigration arrests have also skyrocketed. In June, ICE has averaged around 1,200 daily arrests, with some days surpassing 2,000 – nearly double the daily average during Trump’s first 100 days, though still short of the administration’s target of 3,000 per day.
There are currently 59,000 immigrant detainees in federal custody – officials say that number is the highest in U.S. history, and these facilities are reportedly well over capacity. Additional funds for immigration enforcement and facilities are included in the Big, Beautiful Bill, currently making its way through Congress.
Meanwhile, as reported by <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/feds-raid-california-home-harboring-iranian-nationals-with-terrorism-ties">The Daily Wire</a>, Customs and Border Protection raided a Los Angeles residence that it says was being used to harbor Iranian illegal aliens with ties to terrorists. On Friday, two unidentified individuals were arrested, and that followed a previous raid at the same home that resulted in the arrest of seven Iranian nationals, some of whom are on the FBI terror watch list and associated with an Iranian human smuggling network.
And DHS Secretary Kristi Noem will end Temporary Protected Status, known as <a href="https://www.uscis.gov/newsroom/news-releases/dhs-terminates-haiti-tps-encourages-haitians-to-obtain-lawful-status">TPS</a>, for up to 500,000 Haitians on September 2. DHS said in a press release that this decision “restores integrity in our immigration system and ensures that Temporary Protective Status is actually temporary.” A spokesperson added that the “environmental situation in Haiti has improved enough that it is safe for Haitian citizens to return home.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt opened Monday’s White House press briefing by showing the White House Press Corps a scathing letter that President Trump sent to Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, which included a handwritten note from the president in which Trump urges Powell to lower interest rates by “a lot.”

If Harvard fails to take action immediately to “institute adequate changes,” the university could lose all federal funding.
“[A] majority of jewish students experienced negative bias, felt physically unsafe, assaulted and spit on, concealed kippahs for fear of being harassed, and concealed identities from classmates for fear of ostracization,” Leavitt told reporters. “These are all facts that Harvard cannot dispute and that’s why the admin has found them in violation of Title VI and threatened to withhold their funding, because if you break federal law, you are not entitled to federal tax dollars.”

Topline: Democrats are pulling out all the stops to thwart President Trump’s sweeping legislative agenda, which is slowly pushing its way through the two chambers despite some Republicans joining the opposition.
The Senate held a so-called vote-a-rama stretching past 21 hours as of early Tuesday morning, with Democrats forcing votes on amendments to the bill as a way of stalling – but also forcing Republicans to go on the record regarding topics like Medicaid funding and tax cuts for the wealthy, two issues on which Democrats believe Republicans are out of touch.
A few months ago, the idea of passing such a contentious piece of legislation through Congress seemed unlikely, given Republicans’ slim majority in both chambers and the competing interests within the party. Polling shows that the Big, Beautiful Bill is not all that popular with Americans — Pew has it with a net favorable rating of minus 20, Fox has it at minus 21, and Quinnipiac has it at minus 26. The White House says it is confident that once it passes and folks see the extra money in their paychecks, they’ll quickly change their tune.

The DOJ argued that the city’s policies contributed to the anti-ICE riots that rocked Los Angeles County earlier this month as law enforcement officers were attacked and vehicles were burned.

By assisting removable aliens in evading federal law enforcement, the City’s unlawful and discriminatory ordinance has contributed to a lawless and unsafe environment that this lawsuit will help end.”

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) raided a Los Angeles residence that the federal law enforcement agency says has been used to harbor Iranian illegal aliens with ties to terrorists.
CBP arrested two unidentified individuals at the home on Friday after a previous operation at the same address resulted in the arrest of seven Iranian nationals, some of whom are on the FBI terror watch list and associated with an Iranian human smuggling network.
“CBP executed a federal search warrant today at a human smuggling hub in Los Angeles tied to national security threats,” Customs and Border Protection said in a post on X on Friday. “Two individuals were arrested during the operation, which was led by CBP’s Special Response Team with support from Border Patrol tactical units and Air and Marine Operations.”

“The location has been repeatedly used to harbor illegal entrants linked to terrorism,” the federal law enforcement agency added.
The arrests come amid a broader wave of enforcement actions against Iranian illegal aliens in the wake of the United States’ bombing campaign that targeted Iran’s nuclear production sites.

Federal authorities arrested <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/ice-arrests-100-iranian-nationals-across-us-amid-sleeper-cell-concerns">130 Iranian nationals</a> who were in the United States illegally in the week following the strikes against Iran&#8217;s nuclear facilities, with 670 Iranians currently being held in ICE detention centers.
Among those <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hezbollah-link-among-11-iranians-arrested-by-ice-in-48-hour-sweep">arrested</a> was a man who served as a sniper in the Iranian military, while another Iranian national was identified as a former member of the Iranian military’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. That individual, ICE said, was connected to the terror organization Hezbollah.
Federal authorities also arrested an American citizen who is accused of harboring an unlawfully present Iranian national and now faces federal charges after she threatened to “shoot officers in the head” as they conducted the raid.
“We have been saying we are getting the worst of the worst out — and we are,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “We don’t wait until a military operation to execute; we proactively deliver on President Trump’s mandate to secure the homeland.”
