President Joe Biden&#8217;s administration is reportedly secretly worried about corruption in Ukraine despite putting on brave face for the public over the situation.
Politico obtained a confidential U.S. strategy document in which U.S. officials discuss objectives that they have for helping Ukraine &#8220;root out malfeasance and otherwise reform an array of Ukrainian sectors,&#8221; the report <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2023/10/02/biden-admin-ukraine-strategy-corruption-00119237">said</a>.
The document warns that corruption in the country could cause nations to pull their support from the country as it battles the Russian military.
The report said that the administration wants to &#8220;press Ukraine to cut graft, not least because U.S. dollars are at stake.&#8221;
The administration is reportedly concerned about being too loud about pressuring Ukraine to tackle its corruption issues because they are worried Republicans will use the issue to cut back funding to Ukraine which could then spark other countries to do the same.
Top elected U.S. officials responded to the report by demanding more accountability surrounding the entire situation.
&#8220;Millions of Americans are struggling each day to make ends meet,&#8221; said Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY). &#8220;Is it fair to funnel our hard-earned money to a corrupt foreign government? My oath of office requires me to put the American people first, not Ukraine’s oligarchy.&#8221;
Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) posted on X: &#8220;Now we learn that the Biden White House is aware of the same Ukraine corruption and pitfalls that I have warned against, but pretended it wasn’t happening. It is more important than ever to pass the Define the Mission Act and establish accountability.&#8221;
&#8220;Maybe the White House should level with the American people about what’s really going on in Ukraine,&#8221; post Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO). &#8220;Even as they demand we keep shoveling them money with no accountability, they apparently admit in private corruption is a major issue. So which is it?&#8221;

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre refused to comment on a Democratic lawmaker who pulled a fire alarm over the weekend in a House office building as House Democrats were looking to delay voting on a Republican short-term spending bill to keep the government open.
Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), who has admitted to pulling the fire alarm, is under investigation by U.S. Capitol Police and by congressional investigators over the incident. He claims that he pulled the fire alarm because he was trying to get out of the building to go vote and that he thought that pulling the alarm would open the door.
A reporter asked Jean-Pierre about the matter during Monday&#8217;s White House press conference after it gained significant attention over the weekend.
&#8220;Would President Biden ever try to get out of a meeting by pulling a fire alarm?&#8221; the reporter asked as people in the room, including Jean-Pierre, chuckled.
&#8220;Are you talking about something specifically?&#8221; KJP asked.
&#8220;A Democratic member of Congress pulled a fire alarm around a series of votes,&#8221; the reporter responded. &#8220;No fire. Is that appropriate?&#8221;
&#8220;What I can tell you is I have not [talked] — spoken to the President about this,&#8221; Jean-Pierre answered. &#8220;And so, just not going — just not going to comment. I will leave it up to — I know there’s a House process moving forward right now. I’ll leave it to the House.&#8221;

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/florida">Florida</a> Governor Ron DeSantis warned in an interview over the weekend that the push from Democratic politicians to make everyone have an electric vehicle presents serious risks to U.S. national security and the economy.
DeSantis made the remarks during an interview with Maria Bartiromo on Fox News&#8217; &#8220;Sunday Morning Futures&#8221; when asked about President Joe Biden joining the picket line with striking auto workers.
&#8220;They are going to really hurt the whole automobile industry. It is going to hurt jobs, forcing EVs,&#8221; DeSantis said. &#8220;A lot of people don’t want EVs, a lot of Americans can’t afford EVs. It will make our country more dependent on communist China which we definitely don’t need to be doing.&#8221;
&#8220;What they’re doing in California, Newsom and Biden have partnered up, they are requiring these big rigs to be electric,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;And so, we’re at the Port of Long Beach, this is very important to be able to move product for the entire country’s economy. These big rigs, they go, like 100 miles on an electric, then they’ve got to do a charge. It is totally, totally ridiculous. So, I’m going to come in as president, we’re going to reverse all of those Biden EV mandates, we’re going to save the American automobile.&#8221;
DeSantis said that forcing big rigs to become electric will &#8220;impact our supply chain&#8221; because they need to be recharged so frequently which will &#8220;hurt inflation, that will hurt our economy.&#8221;
&#8220;It’s putting ideology ahead of anything that’s practical, and I think the truckers were really excited we were there to shine a light on some of the insanity that’s going on out California,&#8221; he added.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/u-s-house-of-representatives">House</a> investigators plan to call &#8220;firsthand witnesses and whistleblowers&#8221; in future hearings in the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/impeachment" target="_blank" rel="noopener">impeachment</a> inquiry against President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joe Biden</a>, a Republican congresswoman said on Sunday.
Rep. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/nancy-mace">Nancy Mace</a> (R-SC), a member of the House Oversight Committee, teased the next step in the probe during an appearance on Fox News days after her panel held the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/comer-picks-apart-key-dem-attack-on-biden-impeachment-inquiry">first hearing last week</a> that examined the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIvCY6VvZaU">&#8220;basis&#8221;</a> for the impeachment inquiry on allegations of corruption.
&#8220;The first day of the inquiry was just to have experts in tax law [and] constitutional investigations to show a baseline of what is legal and what is illegal behavior,&#8221; Mace told &#8220;Sunday Morning Futures&#8221; anchor Maria Bartiromo. &#8220;In the future, in our next hearings, we will have firsthand witnesses and whistleblowers coming through to show that direct evidence.&#8221;
They were discussing what evidence lawmakers have gathered so far. Bartiromo posited that Democrats, in criticizing the impeachment inquiry, &#8220;keep saying that there&#8217;s no direct line of money going directly to Joe Biden.&#8221;
Mace contended that congressional investigators &#8220;know&#8221; that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/hunter-biden">Biden&#8217;s son Hunter</a> &#8220;complained that half of his salary went to his father. And we know that he only got these deals from China, Russia, Ukraine, Romania because of his father, because of his relationship and selling that access to Joe Biden.&#8221;
But, when Bartiromo pressed Mace on whether lawmakers have been able to identify &#8220;specific policy decisions&#8221; made by Biden in exchange for payments, Mace conceded there is still work to be done.

&#8220;I have not had the ability to research that,&#8221; Mace said. &#8220;I have been looking more at the LLCs, the bank records, all of the lies that Joe Biden has told, and what evidence we have so far in meetings, dinners, appointments, White House records, et cetera, phone messages, text messages, e-mails, et cetera, connecting the dots with Joe Biden.&#8221;
At the end of the first impeachment hearing last week, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) announced that he was <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/house/4229307-comer-subpoenas-hunter-bidens-bank-records/">subpoenaing</a> the bank records of Biden&#8217;s son Hunter, brother James, and their affiliated companies.
&#8220;We have to connect the dots with the financial records, and then show what policy decisions were made,&#8221; Mace emphasized.
Bartiromo said &#8220;it feels like the evidence at this point is overwhelming&#8221; and asked Mace how much more time is needed to impeach Biden.
&#8220;Well, I&#8217;m a due process person. I want to hear from every witness, every whistleblower,&#8221; Mace replied. &#8220;I really want to hear from the bookkeeper, Maria, and what — how these records were hidden, how the money was laundered, and how Joe Biden got paid.&#8221;

Now, the latest geopolitical upheaval could be happening along Serbia’s border with Kosovo. 
Last Sunday, there was a standoff between more than two dozen Serbian men and Kosovo police officers. That standoff ended in bloodshed, with both sides pointing fingers at each other. Kosovo, which declared independence from Serbia in 2008, is blaming the Serbian government for the deadly skirmish. Serbia denies this, <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/09/30/europe/kosovo-tensions-military-buid-up-explainer-intl/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to CNN.
Since then, the Serbs have been building up troop presence along the two countries&#8217; borders. Now, the White House is telling Serbia to back off and maintain order. Meanwhile, NATO is increasing its troop presence in Kosovo.
“This is not the kind of an attack that was carried out randomly or ad hoc or by some small group,” White House National Security Spokesman John Kirby said Friday. “The amount and the types of arms that were found represent a threat to the safety of not only Kosovo personnel, but international personnel including NATO troops.”
Kirby added that the U.S. believes “this is a very destabilizing development.”
And that right there can sum up Biden&#8217;s presidency on the world stage. As mentioned, there has been much instability under Biden. As previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rapid-reaction-fani-willis-wants-to-get-trump-viktor-orban-wants-to-get-him-back-in-oval-office" target="_blank" rel="noopener">discussed</a>, it&#8217;s hard not to look at the chaos the world is in under Biden — which began with his horrendous Afghanistan withdrawal — and yearn for Pax Trumpana.

Florida Governor and GOP presidential candidate <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ron-desantis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ron DeSantis</a> has a sharp strategy for dealing with illegal immigrants if he is elected to the presidency: Start by deporting every illegal who entered the country under President Joe Biden, and allow states to partake in removals as well.
DeSantis made his promise to remove Biden’s illegals while speaking in California on Friday.
“So, everyone that has come illegally under Biden, [we gotta] send them back. So, that’s going to be the first priority. That’s probably six or seven million people right there,” he speculated while adding, “It’s going to require a lot of effort, it’s going to require us to lean in, but if you don’t have a sanction for violating the law — I support building a wall, I support all this — you’re going to continue to have it.&#8221;

Last spring, the data <a href="https://cis.org/Arthur/Bidens-Released-Least-2020522-Southwest-Border-Migrants" target="_blank" rel="noopener">showed</a> that the Biden administration had released at least two million illegal aliens into the U.S. That number did not include the likely million-plus illegal aliens who evaded authorities altogether. Since then, the number of illegal aliens who have crossed the U.S. border has continued apace with <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/thanks-joe-september-reportedly-saw-highest-border-encounters-ever-more-than-260000" target="_blank" rel="noopener">September</a> seeing more than a quarter of a million encounters at the Southwest border.
Based on those numbers, five or six million would likely be a conservative estimate by the end of Biden’s term. 
Former President Donald Trump &#8212; the current GOP frontrunner &#8212; is also campaigning on enacting massive deportation raids, but DeSantis argued Friday that Trump failed to deliver on those promises during his first term.

&#8220;I would note that the former president is campaigning on the same promise he made in ’16 that he didn’t deliver on,&#8221; he added. &#8220;In fact, Obama’s first term there were more deportations than under Trump’s term in office. Now, he is saying he is going to do this great thing. He had four years and didn’t get the job done. We are going to get the job done.&#8221;
As flagged by <a href="https://townhall.com/tipsheet/saraharnold/2023/09/30/desantis-promises-to-deport-every-illegal-migrant-that-came-to-the-us-under-joe-bidens-term-n2629155" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Townhall.com,</a> DeSantis also plans to give states the necessary authority to remove illegal aliens.
“When I am president, we are going to unleash the states; they are going to be equal partners with enforcing immigration law,” DeSantis recently told The Blaze’s Glenn Beck.
“If someone comes across the river illegally into Texas, Texas should be able to send them back,” he gave as an example.

All of it sounds great and is what is desperately needed — but if DeSantis hopes to have better success than Trump as president, he better also be prepared to deal with the mountain of lawsuits sure to follow. As president, the Trump administration faced practically an endless number of <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/stuartanderson/2019/11/05/all-the-presidents-immigration-lawsuits/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lawsuits</a> — many of which either hampered or slowed his ability to deport illegal aliens and enact the immigration policy he wanted. (See the<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-supreme-court-rules-against-trump-admin-on-daca-roberts-strikes-casts-swing-vote" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> DACA debacle</a>).
If he wants to carry out these plans as commander-in-chief, DeSantis first has to win the GOP primary — and right now, national and state polls <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/latest-presidential-polls-trumps-national-lead-hits-new-high" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suggest</a> that Trump is the runaway winner.
Nonetheless, the Florida governor’s deportation policies should be commended and adopted by whoever winds up with the nomination.

New reporting suggests that the U.S. Border Patrol experienced the highest number of border encounters ever recorded in a single month — a staggering figure north of a quarter of a million. On Saturday, Fox News&#8217; Bill Melugin and Griff Jenkins reported &#8220;Per CBP sources, initial data for September shows there were over 260,000 migrant encounters at the border, making it the highest single month ever recorded.&#8221;
As pointed out by Jenkins, &#8220;The previous highest month was this past Dec of 252,320.&#8221;

The data comes as the White House continues to claim that the southern border is secure and that the Biden administration&#8217;s policies are working as intended.
&#8220;The president has worked very hard to implement a strategy, when it comes to the border, that is humane, safe, and has orderly enforcement,&#8221;  White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre recently <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/white-house/border-ebbs-flows" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>.
But as previously discussed, orderly does not mean that illegal aliens are turned away at the border. Rather it means that they are let into the country with ease.
In other words, the Left’s definition of “order” simply means that illegal aliens are “processed” by immigration officials and then released into the country via new “legal” measures.
So, the Biden administration has contrived new ways of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-admin-to-allow-hundreds-of-thousands-of-illegal-immigrants-to-stay-and-work-in-u-s" target="_blank" rel="noopener">speeding up the process</a> for individuals to apply for asylum. It has focused on moving illegal aliens into the country at a faster pace. It has done everything to entice illegal immigrants to come to the country —  relaxing deportations, providing <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/aircraft-records-reveal-secret-migrant-flights-across-u-s" target="_blank" rel="noopener">free flights</a> and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-admin-issues-over-300000-smartphones-with-tracking-devices-to-illegal-immigrants" target="_blank" rel="noopener">phones</a>, and moving toward allowing hundreds of thousands of individuals to have the ability to <a href="https://www.wgbh.org/news/local/2023-09-21/biden-administration-speeds-up-work-permits-that-could-help-thousands-of-mass-migrants" target="_blank" rel="noopener">legally work </a>in the U.S.

Democrat presidential candidate <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/robert-f-kennedy-jr" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Robert F. Kennedy Jr.</a> is reportedly set to announce that he will run for president as an Independent.
Kennedy is expected to make the announcement early next month while in Pennsylvania, according to a <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/politics/exclusive-robert-f-kennedy-jr-planning-to-announce-independent-run/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> from Mediaite.
The report said that Kennedy is planning &#8220;attack ads&#8221; against the Democrat Party that will be aired prior to his announcement.
A campaign insider told the publication, “Bobby feels that the DNC is changing the rules to exclude his candidacy so an independent run is the only way to go.”
Shortly after Mediaite&#8217;s report was published, Kennedy released a video on X saying that he would be in Philadelphia on October 9 &#8220;to make a major announcement at the very birthplace of our nation.&#8221;
&#8220;I&#8217;m not going to tell you right now exactly what that announcement will be,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I can say, though, that if you&#8217;ve been waiting to come to one of my public events, this will be the one to come to. I&#8217;ll be speaking about a sea change in American politics and what your part and my part is in that change.&#8221;
&#8220;A lot of Americans who had previously given up any hope that real change would ever come through the American electoral process, have begun to find new hope in my candidacy,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And I understand the deeply felt concern that people have about the way corruption has overtaken our government.&#8221;
Kennedy took shots at the leadership of both political parties — showing footage of President Joe Biden, former President Donald Trump, and numerous top figures in Congress — making clear that he was positioning himself from outside the Democrat Party.

On Friday, the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/biden-administration" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Biden administration</a> announced its latest move to weaken U.S. energy independence as the Department of Interior announced that it will propose a plan that will generate &#8220;the fewest oil and gas lease sales in history&#8221; for offshore drilling over the next five years or so.
Why? Well, to protect us from climate change, the Biden administration claims.
&#8220;The Proposed Final Program includes a maximum of three potential oil and gas lease sales – the fewest oil and gas lease sales in history – in the Gulf of Mexico Program Area scheduled in 2025, 2027, and 2029,&#8221; DOI <a href="https://www.doi.gov/pressreleases/reflecting-americas-rapid-and-accelerating-shift-clean-energy-interior-department" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a press release. &#8220;In compliance with the terms of the [Inflation Reduction Act], these three proposed lease sales are the minimum number that will enable the Interior Department to continue to expand its offshore wind leasing program through 2030.&#8221;
According to the DOI, this move is &#8220;reflecting America’s rapid and accelerating shift to clean energy.&#8221; Of course, it&#8217;s not really &#8220;reflecting&#8221; anything. It&#8217;s more evidence that the Biden administration is forcing green energy down the American people&#8217;s throats — no matter what it costs.
In reaction to the news, Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) blasted the president.
Biden &#8220;is caving to radical enviros, helping Russia &amp; Venezuela, &amp; destroying our energy security,&#8221; he posted on X.

Indeed, last fall the president relaxed sanctions on Venezuela, allowing Chevron to pump oil in the socialist state. Neither he nor his Climate Czar John Kerry have done anything of substance to stop China&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/in-devastating-blow-to-john-kerrys-green-energy-utopia-china-to-start-increasing-coal-production?%3Futm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=dwtwitter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">carbon emissions output either</a>.

In other words, over the last year, the Biden administration has contrived ways to shrink America&#8217;s fossil fuel production while allowing America&#8217;s enemies to run hog wild. This is par for the course.
In fact, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm once laughed out loud at the very idea of increasing U.S. gas production to lower costs:

Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/03/07/kamala-harris-pete-buttigieg-slammed-amid-high-gas-prices/">once cheekily remarked</a> that if Americans simply bought an electric vehicle, they would not have to worry about high gas prices — as if working moms and dads have an extra $50,000 lying around to do so.
Ultimately, the Biden administration seeks a green energy utopia that will never come.
They are content with using federal power to squash &#8220;bad&#8221; industries, as they see it, and using taxpayer money to prop up &#8220;good&#8221; industries.
Companies with connections to Biden advisor John Podesta — tasked with allocating billions toward green energy — will benefit greatly. The &#8220;rapid and accelerating shift&#8221; to clean energy will reportedly cost $1 trillion. In turn, the American people will suffer. It&#8217;s all so dirty.

It’s time for your daily dose of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/collections/bidenomics" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bidenomics</a> — where the rules are made up and the points don’t matter.
In today’s lesson, we’ll learn how the fact that the average American can&#8217;t afford to buy a home in 99% of the country is evidence of a historic economy.
On Thursday, CBS <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/homes-for-sale-affordable-housing-prices/?ftag=CNM-00-10aab7e&amp;linkId=238177107" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that real estate data provider ATTOM reviewed median home prices in 575 counties across the country and concluded that the average income earner — somebody who makes $71,214 a year — could afford to buy a home in just 1% of those areas in 2022.
Chief Economist at Redfin, Daryl Fairweather, told CBS, &#8220;The only people who are selling right now are people who really need to move because of a life event — divorce, marriage, new baby, new job, etc. That lack of new inventory is keeping prices high.&#8221;
Part of the reason why homeowners are holding onto their homes is because of high interest rates — which were hiked to historic levels in hopes of slowing down runaway Bidenflation.
That inflation was caused in part by massive government spending. The president&#8217;s solution has been more government spending.
Last week, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) blamed part of the problem on corporations buying single-family homes as well.
&#8220;They have access to lower interest rates,&#8221; Vance <a href="https://myfox28columbus.com/news/problem-solvers/ohio-housing-crisis-state-federal-legislation-us-senators-jd-vance-sherrod-brown-stop-predatory-investing-act-institutional-investors-foreign-home-buyers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> ABC6. &#8220;They have access to cheaper money, and they completely crowd out the availability for homes for people who want to just buy a piece of their community.&#8221;

Some of those companies have ties to the Chinese Communist Party — something Vance says is nonsensical to allow.
&#8220;I look around and say, &#8216;What are we doing when we&#8217;re letting the Communist Chinese Party buy up homes that should be going to Ohio citizens?&#8217; It just doesn&#8217;t make any sense.&#8221;
Overlooked in the housing crisis has been the role that legal and illegal immigration has played. As <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/politics/fact-check-immigration-increase-housing-costs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">flagged</a> by The Washington Examiner last spring, several studies have shown that immigration, lawful or not, impacts both rental and home-owning prices. In short, the millions who enter the country each year drive up demand, which drives up prices.
&#8220;I think it&#8217;s very hard to talk about the housing crisis in Ohio or across the country without talking about the immigration problem,&#8221; Vance said last week &#8220;When you let, let&#8217;s say, 10 million or 15 million people into the country illegally, those people all need homes.&#8221;
Given the fact that one of the most basic elements of the American dream is out of reach for the American people, you&#8217;d think Washington might want to address it. Instead, the vast majority are concerned with either making the southern border more accessible, or they&#8217;re focused on providing aid to Ukraine. Or both.
Given the enormity of the housing crisis, you would hope that the Republican Party would jump on solving it, thereby securing electoral victories in the process. Aside from Vance and a handful of others, not many in the GOP seem too concerned about it.
So, instead, Biden will continue to bloviate that the American economy is booming, we need to accept millions of foreigners each year, and that we have a duty to spend billions in Ukraine. If you haven&#8217;t picked up on it, Bidenomics is code for &#8220;America Last.&#8221;

President Joe Biden is cutting back on the number of spots that the U.S. government will lease to oil companies in the Gulf of Mexico as Americans continue to suffer from high energy prices under the administration.
The administration is allowing oil and gas companies &#8220;a maximum of three potential oil and gas lease sales – the fewest oil and gas lease sales in history – in the Gulf of Mexico Program Area scheduled in 2025, 2027 and 2029,&#8221; the Department of the Interior said in a <a href="https://www.doi.gov/pressreleases/reflecting-americas-rapid-and-accelerating-shift-clean-energy-interior-department">statement</a>.
That number is &#8220;the minimum number&#8221; that gives the Interior Department the ability to expand its offshore wind leasing program through 2030 in accordance with requirements in the Democrats&#8217; Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/09/29/climate/biden-offshore-drilling-plan.html?smtyp=cur&amp;smid=tw-nytimes">noted</a> that the five-year plan from the administration is &#8220;significant&#8221; because it stops the government from allowing &#8220;any lease sales that are not specified in the plan, and the time frame is such that it determines the actions of a future administration.&#8221;
The extreme plan received pushback from industry leaders and top U.S. lawmakers in both parties who said that its purpose was to harm the United States.
&#8220;At a time when inflation runs rampant across the country, the Biden administration is choosing failed energy policies that are adding to the pain Americans are feeling at the pump,&#8221; <a href="https://www.api.org/news-policy-and-issues/news/2023/09/29/api-statement-on-5-year-offshore-plan">said</a> Mike Sommers, the president of the American Petroleum Institute. &#8220;This restrictive offshore leasing program is the latest tactic in a coordinated strategy to reduce energy production, ultimately weakening America’s energy dominance, limiting consumers access to affordable reliable energy and compromising our ability to lead on the global stage. For decades, we’ve strived for energy security and this administration keeps trying to give it away.&#8221;
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) said that Biden was putting his &#8220;radical political agenda over American energy security, and the American people will pay the price.&#8221;
&#8220;It makes no sense at all to actively be limiting our energy production while our adversaries are weaponizing energy around the world,&#8221; he added. &#8220;This is a failure of leadership, and I will continue to do everything in my power to hold this Administration accountable.&#8221;

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) told The Daily Wire in a statement: “The Biden administration continues their illogical attack on U.S. energy production. The latest announcement that the administration will only hold three new lease sales in the Gulf of Mexico will simply force consumers to use foreign sources, which produce more methane and take more energy to transport. America produces the cleanest oil and gas, and if President Biden is really concerned about greenhouse gas emissions, he should be encouraging more domestic American energy production. Instead, his radical policies are going to raise gasoline prices, hurt families and businesses, and weaken American energy security by emboldening Russia and Iran.”

As was made evident after the GOP&#8217;s second 2024 primary debate, Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) relishes the spotlight even in hostile territory. He&#8217;s a slimy politician who rarely makes verbal errors. Sure, he lies through his teeth, but that hasn&#8217;t stopped his political success.
That made his reaction to Sean Hannity&#8217;s comment about President Joe Biden&#8217;s mental ability, or lack thereof, all the more interesting Wednesday night.
From the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, Hannity tried goading Newsom into admitting that he wants to run for higher office in 2024. The two yukked it up, smiling and laughing as Hannity laid out the scene, positing that the pomp and circumstance might appeal to Newsom&#8217;s presidential ambitions.
&#8220;I know the truth, in your heart, in your mind, you want this,&#8221; Hannity said as Newsom grinned and shifted in his seat. &#8220;But you have basically gone on a media tour sucking up to Joe Biden, and you know he&#8217;s a cognitive mess.&#8221;
Newsom looked him dead in the eye, and said, &#8220;I also know he’s got an extraordinary record to run on,&#8221; before getting into a back-and-forth. (emphasis added)
It was easy to miss, but Newsom acknowledged that  Biden is a &#8220;cognitive mess.&#8221;

Given his political prominence and apparent lust for power, it stands to reason that Newsom knew what he was doing with that answer.

By praising Biden, he gave himself cover and avoided overtly criticizing the president. Yet by gently admitting Biden&#8217;s obvious mental handicaps — and they are obvious— he opened the door for Democrats to consider another possibility.
Today, Newsom finds himself holding a great deal of power in choosing the late Sen. Diane Feinstein&#8217;s replacement pick.  Will he use that to his advantage to try and position himself in 2024 or beyond? Only time will tell.
For now, it seems evident that Biden is going to be the 2024 Democratic nominee. But should his health get in the way and actually force him off the ballot, Newsom has primed himself as the heir apparent.
