But after Biden’s disastrous final year in office, his frequent verbal stumbles and apparent confusion can no longer be viewed in isolation. The increasing number and frequency of such stumbles — both cognitive and physical — caused many to question over whether he was even capable of serving another term.
While the Obama Center incident alone was not unique, it reflected the kind of public episode that had dogged Biden throughout the final stretch of his presidency and later became central to the debate over his eventually-abandoned re-election campaign.
Those concerns, in spite of the administrations claims to the contrary, were not based only on viral videos or partisan commentary. A 2024 Daily Wire analysis of official White House transcript corrections found that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-speaking-errors-doubled-in-last-year-analysis-of-official-transcript-corrections-finds">Biden’s speaking errors doubled</a> in the 12 months leading up to his June 27 debate against Donald Trump. The analysis reviewed nearly 400 official “speeches and remarks” transcripts, where White House staff and stenographers crossed out incorrect words or inserted corrected language in brackets.
According to the analysis, the White House corrected 33 Biden errors in June 2023, a rate of 3.2 errors per 10,000 words. By May 2024, staff made 51 corrections, producing a rate of 7.2 errors per 10,000 words after Biden spoke roughly 70,000 words that month. The outlet noted that Biden spoke only about half his usual number of words in official remarks in June before the debate brought new scrutiny to his public performance.
The corrections included misstated numbers, names, dates, and factual references. Biden mixed up billions and millions, debt and deficit, and even basic dates. In one widely circulated example after the debate, Biden attempted to reassure supporters that he would remain in the race and defeat Trump, saying, “I will beat him again in 2020.”
A <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ramblin-man-bidens-tendency-to-ramble-is-twice-as-bad-as-when-he-was-vp-analysis-finds">second Daily Wire analysis</a> found that Biden’s tendency to stop mid-sentence, restart, correct himself, or drift into tangents appeared twice as frequently as it had when he was vice president. That analysis reviewed thousands of official transcripts across 11 years and found that Biden’s fragmented speaking patterns increased sharply between the end of his vice presidency in 2017 and the beginning of his presidency in 2021, then only became more pronounced during his term.
Concerns about his mental acuity became more difficult to separate from Biden’s public image after his June 2024 debate against Trump, which intensified scrutiny of both his age and public performance. Less than a month later, Biden ended his re-election campaign.
The Chicago video was a brief episode at the end of a public ceremony. But it follows the same pattern that made Biden’s public appearances a political liability during the 2024 campaign, as his verbal missteps and moments of confusion became harder to ignore.

Hillary Clinton blasted former President Joe Biden for pursuing a second term, describing the campaign as a “terrible mistake.”
In a recent <a href="https://x.com/theblaze/status/2066969486582747560?s=20">interview</a> with New Yorker editor David Remnick, the failed 2016 presidential candidate expressed regret for throwing her support behind Biden, arguing that a competitive Democratic primary during the 2024 cycle would’ve ended the Trump era. 
&#8220;We would have had a real contest,&#8221; Clinton said. &#8220;He made a terrible mistake. He made a terrible mistake for himself, his legacy, and for the country.&#8221;
&#8220;And very sadly, I believe whoever emerged from that contest, whether it was the vice president or a governor or a senator or anybody else, would have beaten Donald Trump,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;So I think it was a terrible miscalculation on the part of President Biden.&#8221;

The remarks undercut Clinton’s messaging during the 2024 campaign. She supported Biden until he exited the race, then quickly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in her 11th-hour challenge against President Trump.
“I&#8217;ve known Kamala Harris a long time. This brilliant prosecutor will make the case against convicted felon Donald Trump and the Project 2025 agenda to take away our freedoms,” Clinton <a href="https://x.com/HillaryClinton/status/1815372593483911184?s=20">said</a> in a July 22, 2024, social media post. “But she can&#8217;t do it alone. Become a part of this historic campaign today.” 
Clinton is the latest Democrat to muster the courage to throw Biden under the bus for their party&#8217;s election wipeout.
In May, Democrats <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/democrats-finally-admit-what-went-wrong-in-2024?author=Jacob+Wheeler&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=64&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Dems+Sat+On+Their+2024+Autopsy+For+A+Year.+Now+We+Know+Why.">finally released</a> their long-awaited 2024 election autopsy. Buried inside the 192-page report were some brutal admissions about Kamala Harris, the Democratic brand, and the party’s growing disconnect from average Americans.
“The sad truth is Democrats have lost ground at every level from inconsistent messaging and improper planning, even as the policies the Party advances continue to earn voter support at the ballot box,” <a href="https://democrats.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/May-20-2026.pdf">the report said</a>.
The document repeatedly suggests Democrats leaned way too heavily on “Trump bad” messaging while failing to give voters a compelling reason to vote for Harris. One especially rough section says Harris struggled to define herself beyond “not Trump” and “prosecutor vs. felon,” putting blame on the Biden White House.
Notably, the autopsy made no mention of former President Joe Biden’s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dems-in-meltdown-mode-over-dumpster-fire-dnc-autopsy?author=Jacob+Wheeler&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=63&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Dems+In+Meltdown+Mode+Over+%E2%80%98Dumpster+Fire%E2%80%99+DNC+Autopsy">advanced age</a> or the lingering distrust voters felt following his disastrous debate performance.
“We either adapt to the changing conditions of the arena, or history will leave us behind,” the report stated.

Kate Bedingfield said that prominent Democrats refusing to disavow Maine Senate Candidate Graham Platner — over several scandals and allegations — amounted to an &#8220;indictment&#8221; of the party.
Bedingfield, who served as communications director for former President Joe Biden, addressed the issue on CNN&#8217;s &#8220;The Arena,&#8221; telling host Kasie Hunt that she believed at least part of the problem could be chalked up to sexism.

She pivoted quickly to point out why that disparity could cause political problems for Platner in Maine — namely the fact that the electorate there skews toward women and older voters — and argued that he would have to win over some of the split-ticket voters who had chosen Biden and incumbent Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) in 2020.
&#8220;He&#8217;s got to pull some Biden-Collins voters from 2020 over his way, and Donald Trump continuing to attack him is one way that some of those people, you know, may come along,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;So, you know, listen, I personally don&#8217;t love it, but the people of Maine, you know, I don&#8217;t live there so they probably don&#8217;t really — they don&#8217;t really care what I think.&#8221;
&#8220;But I think it&#8217;s — I&#8217;m going to just say it and I have said it consistently, I think it’s an indictment of our party that we’re willing to look the other way on this, personally,” Bedingfield concluded.
Bedingfield&#8217;s assessment aligns almost perfectly with that of Senator John Fetterman (D-PA), who has also been very critical of Platner throughout the campaign. When Fox News host Laura Ingraham asked Fetterman directly whether he would campaign against Platner and for Collins — who by record and by most accounts is a moderate — he drew a <a href="https://x.com/Acyn/status/2065577500294713769">hard line</a> and reminded her that at the end of the day, he is a Democrat.
President Donald Trump officially endorsed Collins in the Maine Senate race several days earlier despite conceding that the two are definitely not &#8220;best friends.&#8221;

War Secretary Pete Hegseth describe the operation as proof that the United States and Venezuela were committed to taking the fight to those who would participate in narco-terrorism and &#8220;deny them any safe haven.&#8221;

The United States successfully eradicated the New World Screwworm in the late 1960s, but Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins says that former President Joe Biden&#8217;s open borders helped clear the way for its return.
Rollins laid out the case during a recent hearing, following news that the parasitic fly — which, in its larval (maggot) stage, enters livestock, pets, and even humans through open wounds and then feeds on living tissue — had breached the United States border for the first time in 50 years.

Rollins <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-admin-declares-war-on-screwworm-to-contain-flesh-eating-parasite">shared several details</a> about efforts already underway to stop the spread of the deadly parasite in an earlier X post, effectively stating that the Trump administration was declaring war on the invasive pest.

Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) has brought in a veteran crisis communicator to handle public scrutiny over his ties to disgraced former Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) and any future dealings with the Senate Ethics Committee.
The communicator in question is Andrew Bates, who most recently handled crisis communications for former President Joe Biden as he weathered the final days of his ill-fated 2024 re-election campaign and the end of his term in the White House.
According to a <a href="https://www.axios.com/2026/06/09/democrats-ruben-gallego-eric-swalwell-biden-andrew-bates?utm_campaign=mrf-utm_campaign=editorial&amp;utm_source=x&amp;utm_medium=owned_social&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;mrfcid=202606096a1d03c13e6f3e29b07150c1">report</a> published Tuesday by Axios, some in Gallego&#8217;s camp feel they&#8217;re being sidelined to make room for the Biden alum.
&#8220;Senator Gallego has been clear that he plans to help Democrats take the majority in 2026 and is weighing all options for his political future. He has brought on Andrew to help navigate those processes,&#8221; a spokesperson for Gallego told the outlet.
What Gallego&#8217;s team did not say was that the senator has been under increased scrutiny since several women came forward with accusations of sexual misconduct and even rape against Swalwell. Gallego has repeatedly claimed that he had no knowledge of Swalwell&#8217;s alleged behavior — despite the fact that the former California congressman was a longtime close friend and former roommate.
An experienced crisis communicator may be necessary if Gallego is to survive the fallout — and Bates&#8217; work for the Biden White House certainly speaks to that.
When even the Democratic leaders in Congress — Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), among others — were approaching the White House and calling for Biden to bow out of the 2024 race, Bates was telling reporters that it wasn&#8217;t going to happen.
&#8220;The president told both leaders he is the nominee of the party, he plans to win and looks forward to working with both of them to pass his 100-days agenda to help working families,&#8221; <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/18/us/politics/biden-election-drop-out.html">Bates said</a>, just a few days before Biden announced that he would not continue his presidential re-election campaign.
On July 18, Bates posted an ABC News article citing an unnamed White House official who declared Biden&#8217;s plan to remain in the race.

And by late February of 2025, Bates — who had defended Biden to the final hours of both his campaign and his presidency — was on MS NOW claiming that President Donald Trump might not have the &#8220;energy&#8221; to do the job well.

CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten said on Thursday that the American people were sending a very clear message to former President Joe Biden and his family: &#8220;Go away.&#8221;
Enten discussed the Bidens and their apparent waning popularity even as former first lady Jill Biden continues to do press for her new memoir, &#8220;View From The East Wing&#8221; — and as Joe Biden is expected to release a memoir later in the year.

Anchor John Berman asked Enten how the Bidens were doing in terms of popularity following Jill Biden&#8217;s book release, and the short answer was clear: not well.
&#8220;The American people have one message for the Bidens that is: go away!” Enten said, repeating, “Go away!”
&#8220;I mean, just look at this. Look at Biden&#8217;s net favorable rating in January of 2025; it was -22 points. Has it gone any better? No, not really,&#8221; Enten continued. &#8220;He’s still way underwater here at -19 points. He’s 28 points underwater with independents. Joe Biden ended his term as president as quite unpopular. And he remains quite unpopular.”
Enten went on to reveal why even some Democrats who might personally like the former president would still prefer that he remained out of the public eye: &#8220;He is an anchor to the Democratic Party and potentially their fortunes in the 2026 midterm elections.&#8221;
Berman asked how Biden compared to other former presidents — particularly Democrats — and the news did not get any better: former Presidents Barack Obama (+31), Bill Clinton (-3), and Jimmy Carter (+22) all fared much better than Biden.
The former first lady was in the same proverbial boat as her husband, Enten added.
&#8220;Jill Biden – obviously not Joe Biden, though they are married – okay, just look at this. Was she a popular first lady? Dem first lady’s net favorability at the end of their final term? She was just two points above water. Obviously, not as bad as Joe Biden, but Michelle Obama was 43 points above water. Hillary Clinton was 13 points above water,&#8221; he said.

Former President Joe Biden announced Tuesday that he will release a new book in September, injecting himself back into the political spotlight months before the midterm election cycle enters its final stretch.
The announcement came during an unusual and at times awkward appearance at a New York event promoting former first lady Jill Biden&#8217;s memoir, &#8220;A View from the East Wing.&#8221; As Jill Biden wrapped up a discussion with moderator Whoopi Goldberg, the former president unexpectedly left his seat in the audience and approached the stage, prompting laughter and confusion from attendees.
&#8220;I have a question,&#8221; Biden said, interrupting the event.
&#8220;Joe has a question? Like you couldn&#8217;t ask it later?&#8221; Jill Biden responded.
The former president then asked his wife, &#8220;Who do you love most in the whole world?&#8221;
&#8220;Whoopi,&#8221; she answered jokingly, drawing laughter from the crowd. Biden remained standing as Goldberg attempted to continue the event, prompting Jill Biden to eventually relent.
&#8220;I love you most, Joe. Was that it? Was that the answer he wanted?&#8221; she said.
The exchange culminated with Biden using the moment to reveal his own upcoming book.
&#8220;My book, which comes out in September, read it,&#8221; Biden told attendees after briefly commandeering the event.
The announcement places Biden back in the national political conversation at a time when Democrats continue grappling with the fallout from his turbulent final years in office and lingering questions surrounding his decision to seek re-election in 2024 despite concerns about his age and health.

At the same time, Jill Biden&#8217;s memoir tour has generated fresh scrutiny of the former president&#8217;s decline during the closing months of his presidency. In recent interviews promoting her book, the former first lady has described being frightened by Biden&#8217;s disastrous June 2024 debate performance against President Donald Trump, saying she feared at the time that he was suffering a medical emergency.

Details about Biden&#8217;s forthcoming book have not yet been released, but its September publication date ensures the former president will reenter the public arena as both parties prepare for a closely watched midterm election season.

Biden shared a second video on Tuesday about gratitude, saying that true gratitude could only be reached when people were able to be grateful for the bad along with the good — and then went on to explain that he was grateful for his past struggles with addiction because they&#8217;d laid him bare (literally) and made him better able to &#8220;connect&#8221; with people.
&#8220;I&#8217;m grateful that I was a crack addict,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And I don&#8217;t say that with the slightest bit of irony or bullsh*t. It has given me to me right here.&#8221;
He went on to say that he was able to reach this kind of gratitude because his addiction had resulted in everything being &#8220;taken away&#8221; from him.
&#8220;All that addiction took away from me, and then all that the consequences took away from me, any sense of me being better than anyone &#8230; I get to approach you and you get to see all of me,&#8221; he added, poking fun at himself and the nude photos that went public with the discovery of his abandoned laptop.
&#8220;You get to see the nude pictures, you get to see me in grief, you get to see me at my worst,&#8221; he said.
One person responded to the video on X with the comment, &#8220;Crack head. I’m sure it was your coke in the White House. Embarrassment you are. You belong behind bars. Loser.&#8221;
Biden fired back, saying, &#8220;I was most definitely a crack head. It most definitely was not mine. You can’t embarrass me anymore. And you have a nice day, my friend.&#8221;

Former first lady Jill Biden on Tuesday shrugged when asked whether her husband would’ve been physically capable of serving another four years, despite her efforts to keep his re-election campaign alive.
The 74-year-old&#8217;s media tour for &#8220;View from the East Wing: A Memoir&#8221; seeks to revisit the final chapter of Joe Biden&#8217;s presidency, his health, and the last-minute campaign to force him off the Democratic ticket.
“Had he been elected again, would he have been able to serve as president? Would he have had to resign?” MS NOW host Jonathan Lemire pressed Biden.
Jill Biden replied: “I don’t know the answer to that.”

During a Tuesday interview on &#8220;The View,&#8221; Biden suggested she did not have a blind spot regarding her husband’s cognitive decline and said no one had warned her about his advanced age.
“You know, you&#8217;re saying many aides saw this. No one ever came to me and said, Jill, you know, Joe&#8217;s aging or something&#8217;s wrong. So when I saw that, I mean, no doctors came to me and said that, and Joe, like I said, you said, has a whole team of doctors around,” she said. 
Over the weekend, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jill-biden-says-white-house-docs-missed-joes-cancer">Biden blamed the White House health care team</a> for failing to detect Joe Biden’s advanced prostate cancer earlier.
“Well, you know, the doctors said that according to the American Urological Association, that men over 70 don’t need a PSA, a blood test anymore because it’s a slow-growing cancer. I have to say, Rita, I do feel we had amazing care in The White House, but somehow that was missed,” she replied.
“So you’re a little bit tense when it comes to his health, huh?” Braver pressed.
“I don’t know if the word is ‘tense,’ but I think I’m vigilant,” Jill Biden replied.
The former first lady also recently revealed that she had worried that her husband might have been <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/watch-jill-biden-recalls-private-fear-during-biden-trump-debate">having a stroke</a> during his debate with President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-dismantles-jill-bidens-stroke-claim">Donald Trump</a>.
In a Truth Social post, Trump called the former first lady&#8217;s bluff, arguing she should have rushed out onto the stage to help him if she was concerned. 
“She said that she thought he was having a ‘stroke,’ and various other really bad things, and yet never rushed onto the stage to help her troubled husband, as any good wife would do,” he said.
In the same interview, Jill Biden insisted Joe was best suited to beat Trump in the November 2024 election. 
&#8220;I believe he would have beat Donald Trump in that election,&#8221; she said, adding the couple had confidence in Kamala Harris.

The Four-Year Question Jill Biden Couldn’t Answer

Former first lady Jill Biden said during a recent interview that she supported then-President Joe Biden&#8217;s plan to pardon his embattled son Hunter, claiming that the Department of Justice — run by his administration — was &#8220;not fair&#8221; to the younger Biden.
Biden, doing press for her upcoming memoir titled &#8220;View from the East Wing,&#8221; joined host Rita Braver for an interview that aired on the CBS News program &#8220;Sunday Morning&#8221; — and she <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/06/01/us-news/jill-biden-admits-i-wanted-joe-to-pardon-hunter-claims-process-was-not-fair-to-ex-first-son/">suggested</a> that the pardon was ultimately prompted by the Democratic Party&#8217;s 2024 loss and the fear that President Donald Trump would push for additional prosecution against Hunter.
&#8220;The Justice Department changed, and the process was not fair to Hunter,&#8221; she claimed.
Hunter, 56, initially landed a sweetheart deal that only gave him probation on three separate gun charges and tax evasion to the tune of $1.4 million — but left it on the table when his attorneys demanded immunity for him for any potential violations of the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hunter-biden-plea-deal-almost-derails-after-questions-about-scope-of-deal-immunity">Foreign Agents Registration Act</a>, ostensibly because any charges in that particular ballpark could also implicate other family members like his father.
He was charged and tried in both cases by special counsel David Weiss, acting on behalf of Biden&#8217;s Justice Department. He was convicted in Delaware on the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/special-counsel-david-weiss-makes-statement-after-hunter-biden-convicted-on-felony-gun-charges">gun charges</a> in June 2024 and took a plea on the tax charges in September. At the time, then-President Joe Biden and everyone in his inner circle declared that he would not pardon his son.

But when former Vice President Kamala Harris failed to win her abbreviated White House bid, the Biden family calculus changed.
&#8220;When Trump was elected, things changed and we knew that he would target Hunter. And we just could not let our son go to jail on a charge that no one would go — I mean, no one has ever gone to jail for,&#8221; Jill insisted, adding, &#8220;I truly supported it. I wanted him to pardon Hunter at that point, and I agreed with Joe.&#8221;
President Biden issued a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/liar-liar-biden-pardons-hunter-after-all">sweeping pardon</a> for his son on December 1, 2024, and also pardoned several other family members at the same time.
Jill explained that he did so, &#8220;I suppose for the same reason, that he felt that they would be targeted.&#8221;
