In a snarky attempted gotcha moment on Friday’s pre-recorded episode of “The View,” fill-in moderator Sunny Hostin hilariously thought she made a slam-dunk case against podcaster Joe Rogan regarding comments he made about immigration under the Biden administration. As we’ve come to know from “The View,” their grasp of the facts couldn’t hold water.
Hostin was triggered when Rogan explained to actor Michael Douglas why he voted for President Trump in 2024 and said immigration policy was one of the driving factors. “Okay. So I will fact check everything Joe Rogan got wrong in that clip a little bit later,” she chided, hyping up what she thought would be an epic smackdown on the MMA fighter.
“He signed a $250 million deal for that podcast. I’m not sure why he can’t afford a fact checker,” Hostin shouted as she stepped up to the plate. She would go on to prove ABC couldn’t afford them either.
Sunny Hostin gets snarky as she tries to fact check Joe Rogan about her Democratic Party’s open border policies. Of course, it’s full of lies.
Hostin…
-falsely claims the border was closed under Biden.
-falsely claims the Biden amin didn’t’ give illegals instruction on how to get in (there was an app for that).
-the only moving of illegals was done by conservative governors, ignoring how the Biden admin dumb them in their states.
-ignores Rogan talking about Dems wanting to “turn them into citizens” to get their votes and just argues that non-citizens voting is “very rare.”— Nicholas Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro) October 16, 2026
First up, Hostin took issue with Rogan accurately saying the border was effectively open and nonexistent under Biden. According to her, Biden saying “don’t come over” in an ABC interview was enough to repel them:
He said in our opening clip, “it was insane to just not only leave the border open,” that was false. Biden even explicitly told migrants “don’t come over” during an ABC news interview with George Stephanopoulos in March 2021. The administration was still turning away most single adults and many families under Title 42.
As the Heritage Foundation reported, over 10 million illegal aliens entered the United States under President Biden. Additionally, Biden’s use of Title 42 began late in his term, when it became clear immigration was a major issue in the 2024 election, and the odds of a Democratic win were becoming questionable. Illegal immigration was one of the issues Trump rode to victory.
Next up, Hostin falsely claimed the Biden administration wasn’t helping illegals enter the country, Democrats weren’t funding their housing, and only Republicans were moving them around:
Number two, Joe Rogan said “give people instructions on how to get in” and also “transport them to cities and put them up in hotels.” Who organized and paid for transport, Joe? Republican governors. Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis initiated and funded the high-profile, state-run busing and flight operations.
Let’s break this down into its component parts.
Firstly, there was an app for that. The Biden administration infamously used the CBP One app to give illegals instructions on where to cross and what to do once they got in.
Secondly, Republican governors moved illegal immigrants dumped in their states by the Biden administration to the sanctuary cities that were enticing them to come in. And if there were no illegal immigrants entering the U.S., as Hostin suggested earlier, how were there even illegals for the governors to relocate?
It’s interesting that she didn’t touch on the “hotels” bit. In September of 2024, news broke that an El Paso hotel was taken over by the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua. Hostin’s New York City had also abused its hotels by using them to house illegal immigrants.
Finally, she tried to clap back at Rogan for talking about how those people could be used to impact future elections:
He said was it to “turn these people into citizens and have them permanently voting your side because you helped them and let them in?” Votes by non-citizens are very rare. How rare you ask? Between 0.0003% and 0.001%.
While Hostin was going on about how “very rare” it was for “non-citizens” to vote in our elections, that’s not what Rogan was talking about.
As Hostin initially quoted, his comment was about how the Democrats wanted to “turn these people into citizens” through amnesty programs and the like, which would mean their votes would be legal.
It’s one thing to step on a rake. It’s another to look into the camera as you put the rake on the ground and say “hold my beer.” Or in Sunny Hostin’s case, her glass of whine. Pun intended.
