Melania Trump offered rare public remarks to tout her husband, former President Donald Trump, as he runs a 2024 re-election campaign.
“My husband achieved tremendous success in his first administration, and he can lead us toward greatness and prosperity once again,” the former first lady told Fox News. “He has my support, and we look forward to restoring hope for the future and leading America with love and strength,” she added.
Donald Trump, the nation’s 45th president, seeks a second term in office as President Joe Biden faces low poll numbers. Ahead of what may be a 2020 rematch, Trump is facing a flurry of high-profile investigations, including a case in Manhattan in which he became the first former U.S. president to be criminally charged. Still, polls examining the 2024 election generally show Trump with a significant lead over the rest of the GOP primary field. The next closest Republican is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who has not announced a campaign but reportedly is moving in that direction.
Typically not very outspoken in the political sphere, Melania Trump made an appearance in November when she walked into a Mar-a-Lago ballroom holding Donald Trump’s hand before he announced his re-election campaign.
As first lady, Melania Trump started the “Be Best” initiative to promote children’s health. She expanded efforts with “Fostering the Future,” a project geared toward providing scholarships to foster children. With May being Foster Care Month, Melania Trump shared on Twitter insights into her work as well as photos.

“Today, on the 5th anniversary of my Be Best initiative, we are reminded of the incredible impact that can be achieved when we come together to support our next generation,” she tweeted on Sunday. “The fact that two individuals from the foster care community have received university-level scholarships brings me great joy. Many thanks to my team and the community for ongoing support.”

“I enjoyed the open and sincere discussion I had this past weekend, over lunch, with a group of teens from the foster care community,” Melania Trump tweeted on Tuesday. “We covered a wide range of topics, including their personal experiences, struggles, and hopes for the future. I am confident that they will persevere and realize their dreams.”

Should her husband be re-elected, Melania Trump told Fox News that during another stint as first lady, she would “prioritize the well-being and development of children as I have always done” while working to “ensure that every child has the support and resources they need to reach their full potential.”
