To no one&#8217;s surprise, besides the &#8220;experts&#8221; who get paid for their predictions, the consumer price index increased just 0.2% month-over-month in July and remained at a steady year-over-year rate of 2.7%.
The consumer price index (CPI), which is a widely viewed measure of inflation, once again showed a lower year-over-year increase than what economists predicted as more of President Donald Trump&#8217;s tariffs go into effect, CNBC <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2025/08/12/cpi-inflation-report-july-2025.html">reported</a>. The economic report published Tuesday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics marked the second-straight month showing an annual inflation rate of 2.7%.
With another solid inflation report under his belt, Trump is again putting pressure on the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates at its next meeting, which is scheduled for September 16-17. In a Truth Social <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115016089386029482">post</a> on Tuesday morning, Trump said that &#8220;Jerome &#8216;Too Late&#8217; Powell must NOW lower the rate.&#8221;
&#8220;The damage he has done by always being Too Late is incalculable. Fortunately, the economy is sooo good that we’ve blown through Powell and the complacent Board,&#8221; Trump added.
Core CPI, which excludes food and energy prices, rose 0.3% for the month and 3.1% for the year. The monthly increase was in line with expectations, while the annual core CPI rise was slightly above what economists predicted, according to CNBC. Most of the CPI increase was driven by a rise in shelter prices, the BLS reported. Energy prices, meanwhile, dropped 1.1% and food prices remained steady. Prices for used cars and trucks jumped 0.5% while transportation and medical care services also saw a rise of 0.8%.
The CPI report showed that Trump&#8217;s tariffs have had little to no effect on prices. Household furnishings and supplies showed a slight increase of 0.7%, but other products that are largely imported, including clothing and canned fruits and vegetables, remained mostly flat.
Former White House economist Jared Bernstein, who worked under former President Joe Biden, even admitted that tariffs are not having a major effect on inflation &#8220;at this point.&#8221;
“The tariffs are in the numbers, but they’re certainly not jumping out hair on fire at this point,” Bernstein told CNBC.
CNN was also <a href="https://x.com/RapidResponse47/status/1955257297514451012">surprised</a> by the low inflation numbers reported on Tuesday.
&#8220;Look at that food. This is where people spend their money, right? &#8230; Food [is] flat, 0%, and actually down at the grocery store by 0.1%.&#8221;
Stocks <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2025/08/11/stock-market-today-live-updates-.html">rose</a> Tuesday morning following the lighter-than-expected inflation report, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&amp;P 500 jumping 0.6%. The Nasdaq Composite also rose 0.8% on the good economic news.
Trump&#8217;s tariffs on over 90 countries finally went into effect last week after he extended the deadline and struck numerous trade deals. Some of the president&#8217;s highest tariff rates include 50% tariffs on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-doubles-tariff-on-india-for-fueling-russian-war-machine">India</a> and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/extraordinary-threat-trump-unleashes-on-brazil-with-massive-tariff-sanctions-on-extremist-judge">Brazil</a>, while other tariff <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/07/further-modifying-the-reciprocal-tariff-rates/">rates</a> range from 15% to 40%. On Monday, the president <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2025/08/11/trump-china-tariffs-deadline-extended.html">extended</a> the tariff deadline for China for an additional 90 days as his trade officials seek to work out a deal with the communist country.

NEW DELHI (Reuters) -Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday he will not compromise the interests of the country&#8217;s farmers even if he has to pay a heavy price, in his first comments after U.S. President Donald Trump&#8217;s salvo of a 50% tariff on Indian goods.
&#8220;For us, our farmers&#8217; welfare is supreme,&#8221; Modi said at an event in New Delhi. &#8220;India will never compromise on the wellbeing of its farmers, dairy (sector) and fishermen. And I know personally I will have to pay a heavy price for it,&#8221; he said.
Trump announced an additional 25% tariff on Indian goods on Wednesday, raising the total duty to 50% — among the highest imposed on any U.S. trading partner. The new tariff, effective August 28, is meant to penalize India for continuing to buy Russian oil, Trump has said.
While Modi did not explicitly mention the U.S. or the collapsed trade talks, his comments marked a clear defense of India’s position.
Trade talks between India and the United States broke down after five rounds of negotiations over disagreement on opening India&#8217;s vast farm and dairy sectors and stopping Russian oil purchases.
India’s foreign ministry has called the U.S. decision “extremely unfortunate” and said it would “take all necessary steps to protect its national interests.”
The U.S. has yet to impose similar tariffs for China, the biggest buyer of Russian oil. Experts say China&#8217;s dominance in rare earth minerals — critical to high-tech industries — gives it leverage that India currently lacks.
&#8220;The U.S. tariff hike lacks logic,&#8221; Dammu Ravi, secretary of economic relations in India&#8217;s foreign ministry, told reporters.
&#8220;This is a temporary aberration, a temporary problem that the country will face, but in course of time, we are confident that the world will find solutions.&#8221;
India is already signalling it may seek to rebalance its global partnerships. Modi is preparing for his first visit to China in over seven years, suggesting a potential diplomatic realignment amid growing tensions with Washington.
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on Wednesday he would initiate a conversation among the BRICS group of developing nations about how to tackle Trump&#8217;s tariffs.
He said he planned to call Modi and China&#8217;s Xi Jinping. The BRICS group also includes Russia and South Africa.
India&#8217;s Ravi added that &#8220;like-minded countries will look for cooperation and economic engagement that will be mutually beneficial to all sides.&#8221;
MODI FACES MOUNTING DOMESTIC PRESSURE
Both supporters of Modi and the opposition Congress party have called on him to respond firmly to the U.S. tariffs, urging action &#8220;with self-respect and dignity.&#8221;
&#8220;India&#8217;s national interest is supreme. Any nation that arbitrarily penalizes India for its time-tested policy of strategic autonomy, rooted in the ideology of non-alignment, does not understand the steel frame India is made of,&#8221; Congress party president Mallikarjun Kharge said.
Indian industry, already struggling with global headwinds, has expressed alarm.
Sudhir Sekhri, chairman of the Apparel Export Promotion Council, said: &#8220;There is no way the industry can absorb such a steep hike&#8221;. He demanded fiscal support from the government.
Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani&#8217;s Reliance Industries in its annual report said continuing geopolitical and tariff-related uncertainties may affect trade flows and demand-supply balance.
India&#8217;s equity market, which has been weakening due to tariff risks and muted earnings growth slipped another 0.5% on Thursday to three-month lows. The reaction was muted as investors bet on the tariffs being negotiated down.

President Donald Trump clarified details about the new trade deals with the European Union (EU) and China in an interview on Tuesday, including floating the possibility of 35% tariffs on EU goods and stating that he intends to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Goods from the EU <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trumps-art-of-the-trade-deal-here-are-the-countries-that-have-reached-agreements-with-america">initially</a> faced 30% tariffs under Trump&#8217;s Liberation Day tariff plan, but – after reaching an agreement in late July – an agreement was made for 15% on exports such as vehicles and medicine, among other products.
Trump <a href="https://x.com/RapidResponse47/status/1952733095259472349">explained</a> on CNBC&#8217;s &#8220;Squawk Box&#8221; that EU exports would be slapped with 35% tariffs if the Union did not follow through with the terms of the agreement. Critics have objected to the trade deal, which they say lacked the &#8220;teeth&#8221; to enforce the agreement.
Included in the trade agreement, the European Union committed to purchasing $750 billion worth of energy from the United States and investing an additional $600 billion in the U.S. economy. Trump added that &#8220;They gave me $600 billion and that&#8217;s a gift. … They gave us $600 billion that we can invest in anything we want.&#8221;
Trump also floated plans to re-shore <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2025/08/05/trump-says-pharma-tariffs-could-eventually-reach-up-to-250percent.html">pharmaceutical</a> manufacturing from countries like China and Ireland to the United States by increasing tariff rates to 250% over a few years, which is one of the most dramatic moves to address the lack of domestic production of necessary medicines. 
Trump&#8217;s deal with the EU is still in the final stages of completion. The president also clarified his plans to meet with Chinese President Xi. He said he intends to meet with Xi only after China and the US agree on the terms of a trade deal.
&#8220;I&#8217;ll end up having a meeting before the end of the year, most likely, if we make a deal,&#8221; Trump said in the interview. &#8220;But we&#8217;re getting very close to a deal. We&#8217;re getting along with China very well.&#8221;

BRUSSELS (Reuters) — The European Union will suspend its two packages of countermeasures to U.S. tariffs for six months following a deal with U.S. President Donald Trump, a Commission spokesperson said on Monday.
The E.U.-U.S. agreement leaves many questions open, including tariff rates on spirits, and Trump&#8217;s executive order last week setting tariffs on most E.U. goods at 15%, which did not include carve-outs such as for cars and car parts.
E.U. officials have said they expect more executive orders to follow soon.
&#8220;The E.U. continues to work with the U.S. to finalize a Joint Statement, as agreed on 27 July,&#8221; the spokesperson said in a statement.
&#8220;With these objectives in mind, the Commission will take the necessary steps to suspend by 6 months the E.U.’s countermeasures against the U.S., which were due to enter into force on 7 August.&#8221;
The retaliatory tariffs are in two parts: one in response to U.S. steel and aluminium duties, and the other to Trump&#8217;s baseline and car tariffs.

Trump&#8217;s comments on India come just days after he <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114942106248731470">announced</a> that the United States would hit the South Asian country with a 25% tariff as part of his delayed &#8220;Liberation Day&#8221; tariff rollout. U.S. imports from India include diamonds, jewelry, textiles, refined petroleum, and pharmaceuticals. In 2024, India exported $87 billion worth of goods to the United States.
The president has ramped up pressure on Russia to bring an end to the war with Ukraine that has dragged on for more than three years. Last month, Trump threatened to hit Russia with 100% secondary tariffs. Trump did not say on Monday whether his tariff increase on India would be the 100% rate that he previously threatened for countries purchasing Russian oil.
Trump initially set a 50-day deadline for Russia to end the fighting before it faced secondary tariffs, but last week, he shortened that deadline to 10 to 12 days, saying, &#8220;There’s no reason in waiting. We just don’t see any progress being made.”
“We thought we had that settled numerous times, and then President Putin goes out and starts launching rockets into some city, like Kyiv, and kills a lot of people in a nursing home or whatever. You have bodies lying all over the street,” Trump added. “And I said, ‘That’s not the way to do it.&#8217;”

The Consumer Sentiment Survey — an indicator of how Americans are thinking about current and future economic health — climbed to 61.7 last month, the highest number since February. While consumer sentiment rose again in July, it still remains far below the baseline of 100, which is considered a positive indicator of economic optimism. The month-over-month gain from June to July, however, suggests that Americans who were wary of President Donald Trump&#8217;s so-called reciprocal tariffs back in April are gaining confidence in the economy, even as more tariffs are set to go into effect in the coming days.
&#8220;Perceptions of this month’s economic developments were similar across the political spectrum; Republicans, Independents, and Democrats all saw some minor increases in sentiment this month,&#8221; the University of Michigan report stated.
The report added that while consumers remain broadly pessimistic about the future of the economy, &#8220;their worries have softened since April 2025.&#8221;

More than a dozen countries will face tariff rates ranging from 19% to 41%. The United States is continuing negotiations with its three largest trading partners — China, Canada, and Mexico — as the Trump administration has yet to secure a trade deal with any of them.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order late Thursday evening, raising the tariff on Canadian imports to 35% effective at midnight, while granting Mexico another 90 days to negotiate a trade deal with the United States.
The actions come as the August 1 deadline arrived for countries with trade deficits with the United States to reach new trade agreements, but Trump said they won&#8217;t take effect until August 7 for most nations. In a Truth Social post, Trump praised ongoing talks with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, while he ripped Canada for failing to crack down on drug trafficking. Trump also said that he would not raise tariffs on Mexico beyond current levels for 90 days.
“I have just concluded a telephone conversation with the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, which was very successful in that, more and more, we are getting to know and understand each other. The complexities of a Deal with Mexico are somewhat different than other Nations because of both the problems, and assets, of the Border,” Trump posted on Truth Social Thursday night. “We have agreed to extend, for a 90 Day period, the exact same Deal as we had for the last short period of time.”
The current deal hits Mexico, America&#8217;s top trading partner, with a 25% tariff imposed because of fentanyl trafficking over the southern U.S. border, a 25% tariff on vehicles, and a 50% tariff on steel, aluminum, and copper. 
“Additionally, Mexico has agreed to immediately terminate its Non Tariff Trade Barriers, of which there were many. We will be talking to Mexico over the next 90 Days with the goal of signing a Trade Deal somewhere within the 90 Day period of time, or longer,” Trump added. “There will be continued cooperation on the Border as it relates to all aspects of Security, including Drugs, Drug Distribution, and Illegal Immigration into the United States.”
Trump said that Vice President JD Vance, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and other top administration officials were all present for the call with Mexico. 
In Trump&#8217;s <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/07/amendment-to-duties-to-address-the-flow-of-illicit-drugs-across-our-northern-border-9350/">executive order</a>, Trump justified raising the tariff on Canadian goods, citing the country&#8217;s “failure to devote satisfactory resources to arrest, seize, detain, or otherwise intercept drug trafficking organizations, other drug or human traffickers, criminals at large, and illicit drugs.” 
That announcement came after Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-warns-canada-backing-palestinian-state-could-damage-u-s-trade-deal?author=Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=1&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Trump+Warns+Canada%3A+Backing+Palestinian+State+Could+Damage+U.S.+Trade+Deal">said</a> that it would be difficult to make a trade deal with Canada if it moved forward with a plan from Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to recognize a Palestinian state. 
“Wow! Canada has just announced that it is backing statehood for Palestine. That will make it very hard for us to make a Trade Deal with them. Oh’ Canada!!!” Trump said. 
More than a dozen countries are facing tariffs ranging from 19% to 41% when they take effect on August 7. All countries across the board will pay a baseline 10% tariff under the White House plan. Separate negotiations with China, another one of America&#8217;s largest trading partners, are ongoing.

The declassified annex shows the Obama administration received intelligence in 2016 that Hillary Clinton had approved a campaign plan to smear her rival Donald Trump by linking him to Russia. The goal was reportedly to derail the FBI’s investigation into her unauthorized use of a private email server. The plan allegedly involved Clinton’s campaign, the DNC, and the firm Fusion GPS hiring former British spy Christopher Steele to create the narrative.
According to the documents, high-ranking Obama officials were made aware of the Clinton plan. CIA Director John Brennan briefed President Obama, Vice President Biden, DNI James Clapper, and FBI Director James Comey on the matter in a White House meeting on August 3, 2016. The CIA later sent an investigative referral to the FBI about the &#8220;purported Clinton campaign plan.&#8221;
In a heavily redacted section, the annex reveals that the CIA prepared a written assessment in 2017 and &#8220;did not assess &#8230; the &#8230; memoranda &#8230; to be the product of Russian fabrications.&#8221; In other words, the agency found the intelligence regarding the Clinton plan to be credible. CIA Director John Ratcliffe said that he has made criminal referrals to the Department of Justice. In a statement, Senator Grassley called the affair &#8220;one of the biggest political scandals and cover-ups in American history.&#8221;

India will now be hit with a 25% tariff, plus an additional secondary tariff for continuing to buy Russian oil. &#8220;I don’t care what India does with Russia. They can take their dead economies down together, for all I care,&#8221; Trump wrote on Truth Social. The move prompted Indian state refiners to pause all purchases of Russian oil.
Earlier this week, Brazil was hit with sanctions and a 50% tariff, the largest of all, due to its large trade deficit and what Trump calls the political persecution of former President Jair Bolsonaro. Trump&#8217;s new plan hits Brazil with a 10% so-called reciprocal tariff, which appears to be in addition to the 50% tariff that the president previously announced.
Canada, America’s second-largest trading partner, now faces a 35% tariff that took effect at midnight on August 1. The president linked the failure to secure a deal with Canada&#8217;s recent announcement that it would back a Palestinian state.
There were also several deals made as Trump&#8217;s August 1 deadline approached. The U.S. finalized a major agreement with South Korea, which includes a 15% tariff on Korean imports in exchange for a $350 billion investment in American businesses and the purchase of an additional $100 billion in natural gas. A deal was also reached with Pakistan.
Mexico was granted an extension as negotiations continue, while Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2025/07/29/us-china-trade-00481958">said</a> earlier this week that an August 12 extension for trade talks with China was likely.

The documents list the parental rights group in a section on hate groups alongside neo-Nazi organizations and &#8220;Antifa.&#8221; The training cites the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which has labeled Moms for Liberty an &#8220;anti-government extremist&#8221; group, as its source.
&#8220;It&#8217;s crazy that we are in a time when Moms for Liberty is listed in this training &#8230; with neo-Nazi groups, with Antifa,&#8221; Tina Descovich, co-founder of Moms for Liberty, told Morning Wire. &#8220;Moms for Liberty is here to show up at school board meetings &#8230; Antifa is burning down whole cities. &#8230; These two are not equivalent.&#8221;
The training materials claim that Moms for Liberty uses &#8220;parents rights as a vehicle to attack public education and make schools less welcoming for minority and LGBTQ students.&#8221; The training links to biased PBS articles attacking the group, while simultaneously linking to an article that describes the violent extremist group &#8220;Antifa&#8221; as a &#8220;relatively small&#8221; threat. Descovich noted that despite the official training, local police officers often approach her members to quietly offer their support.

The White House updated its tariff plan on Thursday evening hours before President Donald Trump’s deadline for new trade agreements was set to kick in.
The new <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/07/further-modifying-the-reciprocal-tariff-rates/">plan</a> pushes the implementation of tariffs back a week from August 1 to August 7 to give Customs and Border Patrol officials time to adjust to the new levies leveled at dozens of countries. The new plan also reveals a host of tariff rates that are set to kick in.
The 10% universal tariff will remain the floor for tariff rates for trade with the United States. Only countries that have a trade deficit with the United States – meaning they import more from the United States than they export – will receive the 10% tariff rates. For countries that have a trade surplus with the United States, their goods will be tariffed at least at 15%, according to the White House plan.
Other countries that have struck new trade agreements with the United States will have various tariff rates based on the terms of the agreement.
More than a dozen countries will face a higher tariff rate than 15%, ranging from 19% to 41%.
“President Trump is using tariffs as a necessary and powerful tool to put America First after many years of unsustainable trade deficits that threaten our economy and national security,” the White House said in a statement, according to <a href="https://www.cnn.com/business/live-news/trade-deadline-tariffs-trump-deals#cmds0clsz0000356toc8am68m">CNN</a>.
A senior administration official briefing reporters on the details of the plan on Thursday evening said that “the president has essentially reordered global trade,” according to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/live/2025/07/31/us/trump-news/8ca2d2ab-bb6b-5e71-b748-5ddfc556b984?smid=url-share">The New York Times</a>. The official added that Trump is accomplishing “the type of outcomes that the WTO and the multilateral trading system have failed to accomplish at scale over the last 25 years.”
Alongside its new tariff plan for international trade, the White House announced steeper tariffs on Canada. The Trump administration said in a statement that the United States would be “increasing the tariff on Canada from 25% to 35%, with the higher tariff set to go into effect on August 1, 2025.”
“Canada has failed to cooperate in curbing the ongoing flood of fentanyl and other illicit drugs, and it has retaliated against the United States for the President’s actions to address this unusual and extraordinary threat to the United States,” a White House fact sheet <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/2025/07/fact-sheet-president-donald-j-trump-amends-duties-to-address-the-flow-of-illicit-drugs-across-our-northern-border/">says</a>.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford hit back immediately at the White House announcement, urging Canada’s government to fight the tariff hike. “Canada shouldn’t settle for anything less than the right deal. Now is not the time to roll over. We need to stand our ground,” Ford said in a <a href="https://x.com/fordnation/status/1951059263943745566">post</a> on social media.

White House Drops New Tariff Plan On Eve Of Trump’s Trade Deadline

As President Donald Trump&#8217;s August 1 deadline for imposing tariffs on countries across the globe nears, his administration has been busy negotiating and announcing new trade deals.
Trump&#8217;s &#8220;Liberation Day&#8221; tariffs, which were initially supposed to go into effect in April, were delayed until the beginning of August, giving America&#8217;s trading partners and the president&#8217;s trade team more time to come to the negotiating table and hash out deals. The deadline extension paid off for some countries that have secured lower tariff rates than those Trump initially announced.
The deals have also resulted in promises of investments worth billions of dollars in the U.S. economy over the next few years.
Here are the countries that have worked out a deal with Trump:
<h3>United Kingdom</h3>
President Trump, alongside trade representatives from the United Kingdom, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/both-countries-will-become-stronger-trumps-trade-deal-will-give-u-s-more-access-to-u-k-economy">announced</a> a trade agreement on May 8, giving the United States more access to the British market while boosting both nations&#8217; industrial bases and steel industries. Under the deal, the United Kingdom will still pay a 10% tariff on most goods exported to the United States.
The deal will also allow the United Kingdom to export up to 100,000 vehicles to the United States for a 10% tariff and export Rolls-Royce engines and airplane parts to the United States tariff-free. The United Kingdom promised to purchase $10 billion worth of Boeing airplanes from the United States.
<h3>European Union</h3>
Earlier this week, Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-secures-biggest-of-all-trade-deals-with-eu">announced</a> that he had secured the &#8220;biggest of all&#8221; trade deals with the European Union. Under the agreement, the European Union will pay a &#8220;straight across&#8221; 15% tariff for most exports, including vehicles. The 15% rate is a major cut to the 30% tariff that the 27-member bloc was facing from Trump&#8217;s initial announcement in April.
The European Union also agreed to purchase $750 billion worth of energy from the United States and invest an additional $600 billion in the U.S. economy.
“We have a trade deal between the two largest economies in the world — and it’s a big deal. It’s a huge deal. It will bring stability. It will bring predictability. That’s very important for our businesses on both sides of the Atlantic,” said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
<h3>Japan</h3>
In what President Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-says-japan-will-invest-half-a-trillion-dollars-in-u-s-largest-deal-ever-made">said</a> was “perhaps the largest Deal ever made,” Japan agreed to invest more than $500 billion in the United States while paying a 15% reciprocal tariff to export goods to America, which is lower than the original 25% tariff that Trump had planned. The deal will also <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/22/us/politics/trump-japan-trade-deal.html">lower</a> the tariff on Japanese auto exports to the United States, bringing the rate down to 15%.
Trump said that the most important part of the deal was Japan agreeing to open its markets to American-made vehicles, rice, and agricultural products.
“This is a very exciting time for the United States of America, and especially for the fact that we will continue to always have a great relationship with the Country of Japan,&#8221; Trump said.
<h3>Pakistan</h3>
On Wednesday, Trump announced a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/other-countries-are-making-offers-trump-announces-oil-reserve-deal-with-pakistan">deal</a> with Pakistan that involves developing the country&#8217;s massive oil reserves and <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/world/asia/pakistan-says-wins-us-tariff-deal-trump-cites-oil-reserves-pact-rcna222159">lowering</a> the tariff rate that Trump had previously planned to impose. While Trump has not revealed the specifics of the deal, Pakistan said it &#8220;marks the beginning of a new era of economic collaboration, especially in energy, mines and minerals, IT, cryptocurrency and other sectors.”
<h3>Indonesia</h3>
Last week, Trump revealed <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/huge-win-trump-reveals-details-of-trade-deal-with-indonesia">details</a> of a major trade deal with Indonesia, the fourth most populous nation in the world. According to Trump, the agreement wipes out “99%” of Indonesia’s trade barrier, opening the market for American-made products. The United States will pay no tariff to export products to the Southeast Asian country, while Indonesia will pay a 19% tariff rate on goods it sends to the United States.
The president also said that Indonesia agreed to “supply the United States with their precious Critical Minerals, as well as sign BIG Deals, worth Tens of Billions of Dollars, to purchase Boeing Aircraft, American Farm products, and American Energy.”
While Indonesia will pay a 19% tariff on most products, a Trump administration official told reporters that products made in Indonesia containing a certain percentage of materials from nonmarket economies such as Russia, China, and Vietnam would be hit with a 40% tariff, The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/22/us/politics/trump-indonesia-trade-deal.html">reported</a>.
<h3>South Korea</h3>
On Wednesday, Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-unveils-south-korea-trade-deal-boasting-350b-investment-in-u-s">unveiled</a> yet another trade deal — this one with U.S. ally, South Korea. As part of the deal, South Korea will “give to the United States $350 Billion Dollars for Investments owned and controlled by the United States, and selected by myself, as President,” according to Trump. South Korea also agreed to purchase $100 billion worth of American energy products.
Trump added that South Korean markets will be &#8220;completely open to trade&#8221; with the United States, while South Korea will pay a 15% tariff to gain access to U.S. markets. The 15% rate is lower than the 25% tariff that Trump had initially planned to impose on South Korea.
<h3>Vietnam</h3>
At the beginning of July, Vietnam <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-announces-major-trade-deal-with-vietnam-days-before-tariff-increases">reached</a> a preliminary agreement with the Trump administration to open up its market to U.S. goods and pay a 20% tariff on exports to the United States. Vietnam faced a massive 46% tariff in Trump&#8217;s first announcement. For &#8220;transhipped&#8221; goods — products that are channeled through Vietnam by countries like China to circumvent trade restrictions — Vietnam will pay a 40% tariff.
Trump said that he believes American automakers will thrive in the Vietnamese market. “It will be a Great Deal of Cooperation between our two Countries,” he said.
<h3>Philippines</h3>
Similar to the deal with Indonesia, the trade <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/winning-trump-secures-trade-deals-in-philippines-and-indonesia">agreement</a> with the Philippines will see the island country pay a 19% tariff to gain access to U.S. markets, while American goods will enter the Philippines tariff-free, according to Trump. The president said last week that the two countries &#8220;concluded&#8221; a trade deal after a &#8220;beautiful visit&#8221; from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. of the Philippines.
The agreement was reached after a round of &#8220;tough&#8221; negotiations from Marcos.
&#8220;He&#8217;s a very tough negotiator,&#8221; Trump <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkFDQptw6Oo">said</a> in the Oval Office one day before a deal was reached. &#8220;He&#8217;s negotiating too tough. In fact, I used to like him better than I do now. &#8230; But we&#8217;ll probably agree to something.&#8221;
<h3>Thailand</h3>
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick announced on Wednesday night that Thailand had reached a trade agreement with the United States, but did not provide specifics. Under Trump&#8217;s initial &#8220;Liberation Day&#8221; tariffs announcement, Thailand faced a 36% tariff.
After <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/this-is-final-thailand-cambodia-reach-ceasefire-agreement-after-call-from-trump">fighting</a> broke out between Thailand and Cambodia last week, Trump threatened not to enter into a trade deal with either country until the fighting ended. Thailand and Cambodia reached a ceasefire agreement that went into effect at midnight on Monday.
<h3>Cambodia</h3>
Lutnick said on Wednesday that Cambodia has also reached a trade deal with Trump following its ceasefire agreement with Thailand. Cambodia also faced a 36% tariff under Trump&#8217;s &#8220;Liberation Day&#8221; announcement.
<h3>The three biggest U.S. trading partners have yet to reach an agreement with Trump.</h3>
While the Trump administration has seen some success in getting numerous countries to agree to trade deals, Trump&#8217;s trade officials are still seeking to convince major U.S. trading partners to agree to their terms.
<h3>China</h3>
The Trump administration agreed to push back an already extended deadline for trade talks, moving the date to August 12 as the countries continue to negotiate. Earlier this week, both sides said they held &#8220;constructive&#8221; talks in Stockholm, according to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
The United States and China traded reciprocal tariff blows before agreeing in May to walk back from triple-digit tariff rates. The countries also agreed to a deal to restart rare earth element shipments to the United States, with exports <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/china/chinas-exports-rare-earth-magnets-us-surge-june-2025-07-20/">surging</a> in June.
Trump is scheduled to be briefed on the China trade talks on Thursday, sitting down with Bessent and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, CNN <a href="https://www.cnn.com/business/live-news/trade-deadline-tariffs-trump-deals#cmdrbeu50001h356ngsxgfdgg">reported</a>.
“I believe we have the makings of a deal,” Bessent told CNBC Thursday morning. “Myself and Ambassador Greer will be speaking to President Trump today about whether we’ll extend the August 12 deadline. We have a few details to work out. I’m confident it’ll be done … but it’s not 100% done.”
<h3>Canada</h3>
America&#8217;s neighbor to the north has yet to come to terms with the Trump administration, and President Donald Trump said on Thursday morning that Canada&#8217;s announcement that it intends to back a Palestinian state &#8220;will make it very hard for us to make a Trade Deal.&#8221; The tariff rate on many Canadian goods is set to <a href="https://www.cnn.com/business/live-news/trade-deadline-tariffs-trump-deals">rise</a> to 35% if no trade deal is reached.
<h3>Mexico</h3>
Trump announced on Thursday that he would again extend the deadline for imposing 30% tariffs on Mexico for another 90 days.
&#8220;The complexities of a Deal with Mexico are somewhat different than other Nations because of both the problems, and assets, of the Border,&#8221; the president said after talking to Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum over the phone. During the extension, &#8220;Mexico will continue to pay a 25% Fentanyl Tariff, 25% Tariff on Cars, and 50% Tariff on Steel, Aluminum, and Copper,&#8221; Trump said.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Thursday that countries that have not reached a deal with Trump &#8220;will be hearing from this administration by the midnight deadline tonight.&#8221;
&#8220;Tomorrow, August 1, the reciprocal rates will be going into effect,&#8221; she added. &#8220;If more deals are cut between now and midnight, I will never count out the president. You&#8217;ve seen him do it before.&#8221;

Trump’s Art Of The Trade Deal: Here Are The Countries That Have Reached Agreements With America

President Donald Trump said overnight that it would be difficult to make a trade deal with Canada if it moved forward with plans to recognize a Palestinian state. 
Trump made the comments after Canada declared that it would join France and the United Kingdom in pushing for the affirmation of Palestinian statehood. The announcement came two days before Canada could be slapped with a 35% tariff if it does not reach a trade agreement with the United States before Trump&#8217;s Friday deadline. 
“Wow! Canada has just announced that it is backing statehood for Palestine. That will make it very hard for us to make a Trade Deal with them. Oh’ Canada!!!” Trump <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114945962278773358">posted</a> on Truth Social around midnight. 
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney released a <a href="https://www.pm.gc.ca/en/news/statements/2025/07/30/statement-prime-minister-carney-canadas-recognition-palestinian-state">statement</a> on Wednesday that said: &#8220;Canada intends to recognize the State of Palestine at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in September 2025.&#8221; 
“We reiterate that Hamas must immediately release all hostages taken in the horrific terrorist attack of October 7; that Hamas must disarm; and that Hamas must play no role in the future governance of Palestine,&#8221; Carney said. “Canada will always steadfastly support Israel’s existence as an independent state in the Middle East living in peace and security. Any path to lasting peace for Israel also requires a viable and stable Palestinian state, and one that recognizes Israel’s inalienable right to security and peace.”
On Tuesday, Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-warns-against-rewarding-hamas-with-palestinian-statehood-bluntly-rejects-two-state-solution">dismissed</a> the idea of recognizing a Palestinian state, declaring that doing so would be equivalent to &#8220;rewarding&#8221; the Hamas terrorist group.
“Well, you could make the case that you’re rewarding people, that you’re rewarding Hamas if you do that,” Trump replied. “And I don’t think they should be rewarded. So I’m not in that camp, to be honest. We’ll let you know where we are, but I am not in that camp, because if you do that, you really are rewarding Hamas, and I’m not about to do that.”
Earlier this week, the Trump administration <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-administration-boycotts-un-publicity-stunt-conference-on-palestinian-statehood">said it boycotted</a> a United Nations conference promoting the two-state solution, calling the event a “publicity stunt” and an “insult.”
Trump has been using tariffs to apply pressure on countries he believes are acting in ways contrary to American interests. On Wednesday, he said that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-slaps-india-with-25-tariff-unspecified-penalty-for-dealing-with-russia?author=Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=1&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Trump+Slaps+India+With+25%25+Tariff%2C+Unspecified+‘Penalty’+For+Dealing+With+Russia">he would</a> hit India with a 25% tariff and an additional unspecified “penalty” for continuing to buy oil and military equipment from Russia amid its war with Ukraine. His administration has made similar threats against China for its purchase of sanctioned Russian oil.
