For two decades, Mohammed Siad Barre ruled Somalia with an iron fist, leading a regime that killed hundreds of thousands. Today, the communist dictator&#8217;s children live in Ohio, where they are connected to multiple &#8220;home health&#8221; businesses that have taken more than a million dollars in taxpayer money.
Ayanle Siad Barre, his father&#8217;s &#8220;right-hand man&#8221; in the murderous regime, incorporated Somal Global Services, which registered with Medicaid as a home health care company in 2011.
The dictator&#8217;s daughter, Deka Mohamed Siad, incorporated Vanguard Home Health Care in 2007, listing her husband, former Somali ambassador Abdikarim Ali Omar, as administrator. Medicaid records show that it was paid $1.8 million between 2018 and 2022, taking in as much as $60,000 a month by ostensibly providing personal aides to poor people.
The <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/09/11/world-news/right-hand-man-son-of-genocidal-somali-dictator-who-killed-200000-found-living-in-ohio-linked-to-1-8m-medicare-firm/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Post</a> reported last week that it was well-known among Somalis in Columbus that the dictator&#8217;s children were living there.
“Siad Barre and his men committed so many war crimes so I was shocked to see his son [Ayanle] in the mosque enjoying his freedom,” one refugee, Ali-Guban Mohamed, told the paper. “My family were rounded up in a small township called Agabur and executed. Their bodies were put into a well and that was happening across the board.&#8221;
“The American immigration system is broken,&#8221; he added. &#8220;ICE is rounding up and deporting people but the children of a known dictator with serious allegations of murder are living here.&#8221;
Ayanle did not respond to the Post&#8217;s requests for comment.
Somal Global Services was based at <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/inside-ohios-home-health-empire-7-buildings-288-medicaid-companies-250-million" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2700 East Dublin Granville Road</a>, which The Daily Wire&#8217;s Medicaid Millions series reported had 80 companies billing $73 million to Medicaid and $23 million to the state of Ohio. When this reporter visited the building, Somal Global Services wasn&#8217;t listed in the directory. No payments to the firm are listed in a Medicaid payments database that begins in 2018, suggesting it stopped operating before that time.

Both of the dictator&#8217;s children, now in their 60s, live in the suburb of Westerville. They fled to the United States in the early 1990s after the fall of their father&#8217;s regime, first settling in Virginia, records show.
When The Daily Wire called Vanguard&#8217;s phone number, the man who answered said Deka&#8217;s husband had passed away. He hung up when this reporter asked to speak with Deka. A voicemail left at a number listed for Deka was not returned.
Public records show that Ayanle additionally incorporated Somali Immigrants Achieving Democracy (whose acronym is the dictator&#8217;s name), as well as the Somoli [sic] Culture and Research Institute. Both children are registered voters in Ohio.
The New York Post reported that Somal Global Services was a translation company, but it is also registered as a Medicaid home health firm. The paper also reported that the $1.8 million had come from Medicare, a program for retirees who had paid taxes, but it was actually Medicaid, a federal- and state-funded medical insurance for the poor.
Somalis have figured out how to get rich off the poverty program by having some start companies that bill the government for providing services to the rest of them, who are often on the dole.
That&#8217;s illustrated, to an almost comical extent, by how many prominent Somalis are tied to Medicaid businesses. Somalia&#8217;s ambassador to the United Nations, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/somali-un-ambassador-linked-questionable-cincinnati-health-service-agency-rfk-jr-deputy-says" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Abukar Dahir Osman</a>, who served as president of the UN Security Council, was tied to Progressive Health Care Services, a home health agency in Cincinnati.
The presence of Siad Barre&#8217;s children suggests that the United States is unable to differentiate between victim and perpetrator when granting refugee status. Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D), perhaps the most prominent Somali in Washington, often describes herself as a refugee. But Omar&#8217;s father was a <a href="https://sahanjournal.com/remembering-minnesotans-lost-to-covid-19/he-was-loved-by-everyone-the-somali-community-remembers-nur-omar-mohamed-who-died-of-covid-19/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">colonel in Barre&#8217;s Somali National Army</a>, and fled after his regime fell.
Omar&#8217;s sister registered a $20 million U.S. Agency for International Development consulting company using the home of Ister Ahmed Afree, who is tied to a slew of Medicaid companies, including Sunshine Care Center MN. Afree was business partners with multiple convicts in the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ilhan-omars-sister-linked-to-central-figures-in-minnesotas-fraud-scandal" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Feeding Our Future scam</a>.
The Trump administration in February released a trove of data that revealed, for the first time, what companies were getting rich off of Medicaid. Many company owners, it turned out, had shady backgrounds. Ohio changed its laws to crack down on the home health industry as a result of The Daily Wire&#8217;s reporting earlier this year.

Sen. Jon Husted&#8217;s campaign (R-OH) announced it was &#8220;parting ways&#8221; with its political director Friday after a report said he had once used a photograph of Nazi SS soldiers as his Facebook profile picture.
Stephen Woytek, 25, joined the Ohio Republican&#8217;s campaign in August as Husted prepared to face former Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown in November&#8217;s special election.
The photo in question, posted to Woytek&#8217;s account in 2018 when he was 16, featured German SS soldiers holding captured Soviet banners, according to <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2026/09/11/ohio-senate-campaign-staffer-used-nazi-soldiers-profile-photo/">The Washington Post</a>. The image remained publicly accessible Friday, although it was unclear how long Woytek used it as his profile picture.
After the Post contacted the campaign, Husted spokeswoman Amy Natoce announced that Woytek would be let go.
&#8220;Steve serves our country honorably as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army and is a proud graduate of The Citadel,&#8221; Natoce said. &#8220;He studies military history and routinely reenacts historical battles.&#8221;
&#8220;While he denies negative intent, his social media activity displays a complete lack of judgment and disregard for its impact on others,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;Sen. Husted demands better of those who represent him. Upon learning about the social media posts today, Sen. Husted made the immediate decision to part ways.&#8221;
Husted&#8217;s spokeswoman did not indicate whether the photo was posted in relation to the historical reenactments in which Woytek had taken part — nor did she say whether that would have changed the outcome. The Washington Post did note, however, that Woytek follows a military reenactment group that does portray a German SS division. The LAH Living History Unit describes itself as “a US-based historical reenacting society portraying the 1.SS Panzer Division. We are a NON-POLITICAL group under the National WWII Living History Association.&#8221;
Woytek issued a statement regarding the photo, saying his interest in the topic was historical rather than ideological.
&#8220;I want to be unequivocal: I reject the racist and antisemitic ideology the SS and Nazi Germany represented,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I believe it is important to educate our younger generations, which is why I participate in historical reenactments.&#8221;
Woytek conceded that he should have &#8220;exercised better judgment when posting about my activities online.&#8221;
&#8220;I am utterly heartbroken, but respectfully am parting ways with his campaign,&#8221; he added.
Woytek&#8217;s immediate dismissal comes amid growing fears that the Republican Party may be forced to deal with an extreme wing of its own — in much the same way that Democrats are being forced to reckon with the rise of Democratic socialists within their party — in the form of groypers.
And while the statement from Husted&#8217;s spokeswoman does not indicate even the slightest concern that Woytek is a part of that particular culture, that culture&#8217;s existence alone could be enough reason for the Ohio senator to cut ties immediately.

An illegal immigrant released into the country under the Biden administration and issued a California commercial driver&#8217;s license (CDL) is accused of killing an Ohio mother in a devastating crash.
Manjit Singh crashed head-on with another vehicle, killing 50-year-old Brenda Watson on U.S. 68 and Hamer Road in Pleasant Township around 9 p.m. on September 2, <a href="https://www.fox19.com/2026/09/03/50-year-old-woman-killed-when-semi-passing-vehicle-crashes-head-on-into-her-troopers/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Fox 19. The crash occurred as Singh, who was behind the wheel of a tractor-trailer, allegedly tried to pass another vehicle, hitting Watson&#8217;s Chevy Cruze head-on.
A witness to the collision said Singh &#8220;had ample time and space to merge back into the northbound lane,&#8221; the local news outlet reported. The mother of two died at the scene.
Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin released a statement Wednesday, slamming the Biden administration and California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom for the fatal crash.
&#8220;This illegal alien from India has been charged with aggravated vehicular homicide after allegedly causing a semi-truck crash that killed 50-year-old Brenda Watson in Ohio,&#8221; Mullin said.
&#8220;He has no business being in our country or on our roads, but because of the reckless open borders of the Biden Administration and the sanctuary policies of Gavin Newsom’s California, he was able to obtain a CDL that allowed him behind the wheel of a semi-truck,&#8221; he added.

Following the crash, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged a detainer with authorities in Ohio, asking them to transfer Singh to federal custody if he is released.
&#8220;ICE has lodged a detainer asking officials in Ohio to commit to not releasing this killer back onto our streets, so that ICE can remove him from our country. My thoughts and prayers are with Brenda Watson’s family,&#8221; Mullin said.
Singh crossed the southern border illegally into Arizona in October 2023 and was released by federal agents, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). In August 2024, the Biden administration granted his application for a work permit, opening the door for California to hand him a CDL.
The Trump administration has launched a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-admins-war-on-illegal-immigrant-truckers-intensifies">crackdown</a> on the trucking industry in response to a string of recent fatal crashes involving illegal immigrant truck drivers.
As part of the ongoing effort, the Department of Transportation recently announced the closure of 110 commercial trucking schools associated with more than 5,000 drivers who failed English-language proficiency tests.
“A number of American families whose lives have been ruined, they’ve lost a loved one or a loved one has been injured by a commercial driver who should’ve never had a commercial driver’s license who didn’t protect safety on American roadways, but they actually harmed American citizens,” Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said during the announcement last month.

A previously deported illegal immigrant is accused of driving drunk and killing a newly engaged 23-year-old teacher in a crash on an Ohio highway.
Alvaro Uribe-Gonzalez, a 33-year-old Mexican national, allegedly drove into opposing traffic on U.S. Route 33 in Fairfield County on Sunday when he killed Cameron Lyon, 23, and severely injured his fiancée, Abrielle Kerns.
The couple had gotten engaged in July.
On a fundraising <a href="https://www.supportnow.org/abrielle-kerns-7102580a-175a-4674-9438-bf963919da50" target="_blank" rel="noopener">page</a> set up for Abrielle, her family said she &#8220;was left seriously injured and is still in the ICU fighting to recover.&#8221;
&#8220;Everyone who knew Abrielle and Cameron could see the love they shared and the future they were building together,&#8221; they wrote.
&#8220;Her world has been turned upside down, and the physical and emotional hardships ahead will be enormous,&#8221; the family added.

Uribe-Gonzalez crossed the Texas border illegally in January 2020 and was deported that April, the Department of Homeland Security <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2026/09/09/ice-lodges-detainer-illegal-alien-charged-fatal-dui-crash-ohio" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Wednesday. DHS said he later illegally returned to the United States at an unknown time by sneaking across the border.
Authorities arrested the illegal immigrant and charged him with aggravated vehicular homicide, driving under the influence of alcohol, and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) also lodged a detainer in the case and asked local authorities to transfer Uribe-Gonzalez to federal custody if he is released.
His bond was set at $5 million.
“Cameron had his whole life ahead of him, and that life was stolen by this criminal who never should have been in our country in the first place,&#8221; Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said in a statement.
&#8220;ICE has lodged a detainer asking officials in Ohio to cooperate with us and not release him from jail, so that we can remove him from this country. Deporting illegal aliens is our duty because it saves lives,&#8221; he added.
Lyon&#8217;s family described him as a funny, great person who had many friends, <a href="https://www.10tv.com/article/news/local/sheriff-driver-fatal-route-33-crash-fairfield-county-living-in-us-illegally/530-bede43cb-3031-43fb-8b5b-e3ae38111aca" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to WBNS. His relatives said he loved life, travel, and his family.
He was an Eagle Scout and had just started his first teaching job as a social studies teacher for 5th- and 6th-graders, the local news outlet reported.

Footage of a heroic waiter tackling a deranged gunman surfaced after an Ohio jury found a man guilty of attempting to murder his ex-wife.
Matthew Exton was convicted last week of attempted murder after he walked into a Toledo restaurant in April 2025 and pointed a handgun at his ex-wife Kayda Valone. Surveillance footage from the incident shows Exton fumbling with the safety on his gun before waiter Tracy Cole, Jr. tackled him and brought him to the floor with the help of other bystanders.
The incident took place during the opening night of Sabira, an Italian restaurant, after Exton saw Valone and members of her family sitting at a table. The whole encounter was captured on surveillance footage from the restaurant that was played during the trial. 
“Nothing in their training and soft openings at the restaurant could have prepared the staff for what walked through that door,” Lucas County Prosecutor Julia Bates said, <a href="https://www.toledoblade.com/local/2026/09/04/exton-removed-from-courtroom-disrupting-closing-arguments/stories/20260904083">according</a> to the Toledo Blade. “The defendant did not come with the intention of having a meal. He came with anger in him and with the intention to commit a public execution of his ex-wife at the restaurant that day.”
During the trial, the 43-year-old Exton, a former lawyer with offices in Ohio and Michigan, was kicked out of the courtroom over repeated disruptions to the proceedings. “I’m God. And the Anti-Christ. Hail Satan. And I am a f*gg*t. Gun. Gun. Hail Satan. Gun. USA,” he said at one point, the Blade reported. 
While Exton claimed he pointed the weapon at Valone to pressure her over the sale of their former home, prosecutors argued that there was no doubt about Exton’s intent. 
“He was not there for a relationship-building effort,” prosecutor Rose Mock said during the trial. “When you fire a deadly weapon, or attempt to fire a deadly weapon, in a public place, you put everyone’s lives at risk.”
Exton was convicted of two additional assault charges. Set to be sentenced on September 21, he could end up behind bars for up to 25 years. 
At the time of the incident, the restaurant praised the response of its employees and customers. 
“We are deeply grateful for the swift and courageous actions taken by our team, our patrons, and the Toledo Police Department in response to an isolated domestic incident which occurred at one of our establishments on Friday evening,” the restaurant <a href="https://www.13abc.com/2025/04/14/new-video-attempted-murder-inside-toledo-restaurant-thwarted-by-patrons-who-took-down-gunman-tpd-says/">said</a>. “Thanks to their quick intervention, the situation was resolved.”

A Florida big-rig driver — a reported illegal immigrant who triggered a multi-car pileup on an Ohio highway that killed a local father and his 11-year-old son — got a shockingly lenient 20-day jail sentence.
Lima Municipal Court Judge Tammie K. Hursh handed down the slap on the wrist to 53-year-old Yvio Michel, ordering him to serve two consecutive 10-day stretches behind bars.
The brief stint in the Allen County jail comes despite the Boynton Beach trucker <a href="https://www.hometownstations.com/2026/09/06/truck-driver-sentenced-20-days-fatal-i-75-crash-allen-county/?outputType=amp">pleading no contest</a> to charges stemming from the February 28 wreck on I-75 that took the lives of 52-year-old Hurshel Gipson and his young son, Michael.
Michel, a Haitian national who was living in the U.S. illegally while attempting to seek asylum, was barreling northbound near Cridersville around 8:30 p.m. when traffic began grinding to a halt due to a vehicle fire.
Instead of slowing his massive tractor-trailer, the reckless trucker failed to yield and plowed headlong into a line of stopped commuters. The devastating chain-reaction crash smashed four passenger cars and another semi, completely trapping the Gipson family’s Buick SUV between two heavy rigs.
The impact killed Hurshel and his boy Michael on the spot. The boy’s mother, 45-year-old Amanda Gipson, who was <a href="https://dayton247now.com/news/local/truck-driver-charged-in-deadly-i-75-crash">behind the wheel</a>, survived with severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Multiple other motorists suffered injuries in the destruction.
Despite facing a slate of charges, prosecutors offered Michel a plea deal. He pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor counts, negligent homicide and vehicular manslaughter, while authorities dropped three other charges, including a second homicide count and failure to maintain distance.
Judge Hursh suspended the vast majority of Michel’s jail time, handing him a 90-day sentence for the homicide charge (with 80 days suspended) and a 180-day term for manslaughter (with 170 days suspended). Along with his 20 days of jail time, Michel was hit with a two-year license suspension, six points, and a paltry $1,000 in fines plus court costs.

Michel’s stay in local custody is set to end Sept. 21. However, federal authorities are waiting in the wings: Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has slapped a detainer on Michel and plans to take him into federal custody the second he walks out of jail.

Police officers in Ohio were stunned after arresting San Francisco 49ers owner John &#8220;Jed&#8221; York in a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/49ers-owner-busted-in-prostitution-sting-at-trailer-park">prostitution sting</a> at a trailer park.
York, who has an estimated <a href="https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/nfl/2026/08/25/jed-york-49ers-owner-arrested-east-palestine-ohio-net-worth-wife-danielle-belluomini/91453250007/">net worth</a> of around $500 million, was accused of agreeing to pay $140 for sex at the trailer park in East Palestine.
The bodycam footage from the East Palestine Police Department was obtained by TMZ on Wednesday. The footage shows an officer approach York&#8217;s car, asking for his hands and telling him, &#8220;Don&#8217;t move.&#8221; York, wearing a gray New York Yankees t-shirt and shorts, held out his wallet, but the officer immediately unbuckled the NFL team owner and detained him.
&#8220;Can I ask what you&#8217;re doing?&#8221; York asked.
&#8220;What are you doing here?&#8221; the officer replied.
&#8220;Just driving,&#8221; York said.
&#8220;You meeting anybody?&#8221; the Ohio police officer pressed.
&#8220;No.&#8221;
York informed officers that he was driving a rental car. He is originally from Youngstown, Ohio, which is just over 20 miles north of East Palestine.
After York was placed in a cruiser, one of the officers commented on the large amount of cash that they found in his wallet. Police found $160 in cash in York&#8217;s wallet.
&#8220;He&#8217;s a real estate guy. He&#8217;s got all the money,&#8221; the other officer said, adding, &#8220;It&#8217;s crazy the people that do this. Like, they could do whatever they want. Like, they could do other things. They could go other ways, but wow.&#8221;
York was nabbed after an undercover officer posted an ad posing as a woman on a &#8220;known prostitution website,&#8221; according to an incident report, ESPN <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/49723635/49ers-owner-jed-york-contacted-fictitious-prostitution-ad-3-s-arrest">reported</a>. York allegedly contacted the undercover officer twice last Saturday, and reached out a third time on Sunday after his he didn&#8217;t get a response to the first two messages. After the third message from York, the undercover officer offered to meet York in East Palestine, according to the incident report.
York was initially charged with engaging in prostitution and possession of criminal tools before he accepted a plea deal that changed the prostitution charge to a disorderly conduct charge. The 49ers owner filed for divorce in May of this year after a nearly 15 year marriage with his wife Danielle. The couple share two children.

San Francisco 49ers principal owner John “Jed” York was arrested in Ohio over the weekend after allegedly arranging to pay a woman $140 for sex at a trailer park.
East Palestine police arrested York, 46, on Sunday at the Wheat Hill Mobile Home Community off State Route 170 on a charge of engaging in prostitution, according to <a href="https://abc7.com/post/san-francisco-49ers-owner-jed-york-arrested-ohio-prostitution-court-documents/19727825/">ESPN</a>. Prosecutors later amended the charge to disorderly conduct, and York pleaded no contest Monday to that charge and a separate misdemeanor charge of possessing criminal tools.  
Court records reviewed by <a href="https://www.wkbn.com/news/local-news/east-palestine-news/49ers-owner-arrested-in-east-palestine/">WKBN</a> reportedly say York was sentenced to one day in the Columbiana County Jail on each count, to be served concurrently, and received credit for the day he had already served. He was also ordered to pay $1,150 in fines. 
Under the agreement, authorities returned a cell phone seized during the incident to York, while $160 in cash was forfeited to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force.
WKBN requested a police report on the arrest, which stated only: “On August 23, 2026, the East Palestine Police Department assisted the MVHTTF on the arrest of John York.”
York, who is originally from Youngstown, Ohio, took over day-to-day control of the 49ers in 2008 and became the team’s principal owner in 2024. He previously served as the team&#8217;s CEO before Al Guido was promoted to the role earlier this year. He has been <a href="https://www.49ers.com/team/front-office-roster/jed-york?utm_source=chatgpt.com">married</a> to his wife, Danielle, for more than a decade, and they have two sons.
The NFL is aware of the matter and will review it under the league’s personal conduct policy, <a href="https://x.com/AdamSchefter/status/2091938938881462434?s=20">ESPN</a> reported. As of Monday afternoon, the 49ers had not publicly commented on the charges.

One of the U.S. Senate&#8217;s foremost waste-watchers has her eyes on a loophole that is exploited across every area where the government can be exploited.
If a man owns a company that is caught defrauding the government, he can simply open a company in his wife&#8217;s or child&#8217;s name — even if they share an address and bank accounts — and the government will gladly pay it for the same service.
Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA), who was elected more than a decade ago on a promise to cut the fat from government, said only the government would be naive enough to allow this, and she&#8217;s introduced a bill to stop it.
The bill comes after The Daily Wire&#8217;s Medicaid Millions series documented how African scammers seem to take a loose view of who is listed as the owner of something, putting companies in various associates&#8217; names as they see fit. Ernst, chair of the Senate DOGE Caucus, recognized the pattern — and saw that the potential for stopping fraud by closing the gap extended well beyond Medicaid home health care.
“The <a href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/senate-bill/5314/text?s=6&amp;r=1&amp;hl=S.5314">No Cash for Cohabitating Kins of Crooks Act</a> is the direct result of Luke Rosiak’s investigation that exposed family fraudsters milking Medicaid in Ohio, which I invited him to share with the Senate committee I chair,&#8221; Ernst said. &#8220;My own oversight uncovered other scam-ilies and criminal clans across the country who are also living lives of luxury off the loot being pilfered from public programs.&#8221;
&#8220;This bill will close the fraudsters’ family businesses by prohibiting hooligans living in the same house from getting their hands on taxpayer money,&#8221; she said.
Ernst, who is retiring in January, is a former auditor who has persistently delved into the minutiae of the government to find ways to reduce fraud and shrink the federal deficit.

Robert was released from prison but never paid his restitution, leading the government to issue a lien against him. Meanwhile, it was paying millions to his wife, with whom he lives in an upscale home.
In <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/meet-the-convicted-fraudster-running-a-million-dollar-medicaid-business">Part 2</a>, we showed how, according to Medicaid records, True Home Healthcare LLC is owned by Mamusu Kanu — but in actuality, it is co-owned by her husband, Alieu Conteh, who has multiple convictions for giving the government false names, and had his nursing license suspended for repeated trickery. Kanu bills the government as much as $100,000 a month for supposedly helping people; Conteh has been convicted of endangering children and theft. &#8220;Yes, I do have a lot of records,&#8221; Conteh told the Daily Wire. &#8220;My role, I sit in the office.&#8221;
A similar dynamic takes place across every aspect of government, such as defense contractors. Her bill would stop it all.
The proposed law says if the owner of a government contractor or service provider has their eligibility terminated as a result of fraud or a criminal conviction, the owner&#8217;s spouse and anyone who lives with him &#8220;may not enter into a contract with the Federal Government, receive a grant, loan, subaward, or reimbursement from the Federal Government, or enter into any other financial transaction for goods or services paid for in part or full by the Federal Government.&#8221;
Our series also exposed Roberta Acheampong, who renamed her janitorial company &#8220;One Community Mental Health&#8221; and billed the government $8 million. After our story appeared, the government indicted her and her husband, recognizing that husband and wife typically operate as one entity and share the wealth. The couple fled back to Africa together and are <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/african-medicaid-scammers-exposed-by-daily-wire-indicted-for-fraud-flee-to-africa">now wanted</a>.
In June, the Ohio governor signed into law a comprehensive Medicaid reform package that was designed specifically to address The Daily Wire&#8217;s findings — but Medicaid is a joint state/federal program, and vulnerabilities still exist across the country.

An Ohio mother and her two trans-identifying live-in lovers stand accused of torturing her 7-year-old to death after he was found bound with duct tape inside a closet at the family’s home.
Veteran homicide detective Kyle Smith testified in court on Friday, calling this case one of the worst he’s seen in his career, as FOX56 reported.
“In my 21 years of law enforcement experience, this is probably one of the most disturbing examples of child abuse that I’ve witnessed: physical beatings and blunt force injuries from striking devices on the face, torso, back, and upper and lower extremities,” Smith <a href="https://fox56.com/news/nation-world/kaitlin-evans-nessa-keaney-kirby-rankin-three-people-charged-murder-young-boy-death-oakley-endangering-children-hamilton-county-coroner-autopsy-madison-road-home-investigation-suspicious-death-court-friday-cincinnati-crime-criminal-acts">said</a>.
Seven-year-old William Evans, who was developmentally disabled, was reportedly beaten, burned, and held underwater for extended periods of time.
Kaitlin Evans, 38, and her live-in lovers Nessa Keaney, 23, and Kirby Rankin, 33, have been charged with abusing and murdering the child. Hamilton County Coroner Dr. Lakshmi Sammarco told reporters at a press conference on Tuesday that she “opened the closet door” and “just froze for a while” upon encountering the scene.
William’s cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the head. The child’s skull was fractured, and his arm was broken, according to the coroner. Investigators were reportedly searching for a weapon associated with the abuse, and as of the latest reporting, sexual abuse had not been ruled out.
Sammarco said the child had likely been dead for &#8220;at least a day&#8221; before he was found.
The boy’s father did not live in the home. Per FOX56, he was openly sobbing in court and said to Evans, &#8220;Willie was my life. I trusted you to care for him.”
He added, “They kept him from me for the past nine months over lies.&#8221;
Evans’ lawyer said that the evidence will prove that “another individual who has been charged with this crime caused the death of this child.”
“We believe the state’s theory as it relates to Ms. Evans will be a failure to act,” the attorney <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/08/11/us-news/mom-trans-lovers-accused-of-killing-disabled-7-year-old-son/">said</a>, per The New York Post, claiming that Evans had not committed the crime herself but had failed to stop the person who did.&lt;
Evans, Keaney, and Rankin have each been charged with murder and child endangerment. They are currently behind bars as they await trial, with bond set at $1 million, with an additional $100,000 for all three of the accused.

U.S. Sen. Jon Husted (R-OH) on Thursday <a href="https://x.com/SenJonHusted/status/2085421829708218751?s=20">called</a> on Rep. Max Miller to end his re-election campaign and resign from Congress, breaking his silence on the mounting domestic abuse allegations against the Ohio congressman.
The defiant and embattled congressman faces growing pressure to drop out ahead of a looming deadline as Republicans grow increasingly uneasy over allegations that he emotionally and physically abused his ex-wife and toddler daughter.
“Anyone who commits domestic violence is not fit to serve in Congress,” Sen. Husted said in a statement. “I know both Max Miller and Emily Moreno, as well as their families. I am deeply saddened that their personal lives have become such a public matter, especially as it relates to their daughter, Ruthie.”
Miller&#8217;s ex-wife, Emily Moreno — the daughter of Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH) — has accused the congressman of holding a gun to her head, throwing hot water at her, and fracturing their daughter&#8217;s collarbone, according to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/08/05/business/media/cnn-max-miller-jake-tapper.html">The New York Times</a>. Miller, who faces dimming odds of winning a third term, has denied the allegations, alleging his ex-wife has mental health problems amid a heated child custody battle.
Sen. Moreno was the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/gop-senator-says-family-dispute-put-him-in-seventh-level-of-hell">first to</a> call on Miller to quit Congress, adding, “He needs serious help.” One reporter pointed to a statement from Miller in which he’d said Moreno was only attacking him to “hide from” his “own circus,” and asked what that might be referencing.
“The ramblings of a madman,” Moreno said, adding, “I don’t even know what that means.”
Earlier this week, Trump called Miller to warn him about his prospects, and Miller insisted he could weather the allegations — with Democrats needing only a handful of pickups to retake the chamber.
The political argument provoked a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/embattled-gop-rep-agreed-to-live-interview-it-didnt-go-well">fiery response</a> from Moreno, telling reporters, “Look, I don’t care about the politics. I hope that you understand — or maybe I hope that you never have to understand — what my daughter has been through, what my daughter is going through, what my wife is going through … this is truly the seventh level of hell.”
Husted, who is also locked in a tough re-election fight, piled on Thursday, arguing the serious nature of the allegations and their effect on the couple&#8217;s daughter warranted an immediate exit from Washington.
“Given everything they are facing, I do not see how a campaign for Congress benefits any of them. I believe Max would be making the right decision to step aside as a candidate and resign from Congress to focus on what is in the best interest of his daughter,” Husted said.
“Years from now, I believe he will look back and know it was the right choice for her,” he added.
In damage control, Miller went on <a href="https://x.com/atrupar/status/2084749681448374468?s=20">CNN’s “The Lead” with Jake Tapper</a> and delivered a performance many viewed as disastrous.
Tapper opened the contentious interview by asking about the stuffed “little blue bunny” that Miller’s daughter took everywhere and asked whether Moreno had been telling the truth when he said Miller had refused to return it for two days: “If it’s true, that sounds like emotionally abusive behavior toward the toddler, to refuse to give into her when she can’t sleep without it.”
Without answering the question, Miller said that he agreed that it “would be incredibly disturbing&#8221; if the senator was telling the truth.
Tapper continued to press Miller over a <a href="https://x.com/atrupar/status/2084750725213532441?s=20">Dropbox link</a> he shared to bolster his defense that included a photo of his daughter in a state of undress, The Daily Wire previously reported. The link remained live for about a day before it was removed along with the image.
Tapper noted that Miller&#8217;s lawyer had accepted responsibility for the &#8220;mistake,&#8221; but insisted it was still &#8220;shockingly reckless&#8221; to allow it to happen.
Miller objected, arguing that the photo was part of the evidence in a child protective services investigation and wasn’t that inappropriate — and claimed that it was being blown out of proportion by media outlets.
Tapper, clearly taken aback, asked how he could defend releasing such a photo — and Miller immediately claimed he wasn’t defending it.
“You just defended it!” Tapper replied.
As of Thursday, both U.S. Speaker Mike Johnson and President Trump have stopped short of calling on Miller to step aside.
