While Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer kept the federal government shut down, the radical Left was hard at work in California crusading against the patriots who feed and clothe our country.
The latest episode in Governor Gavin Newsom’s war against agriculture comes in the form of redistributing agricultural land in the name of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
The California Agricultural Land Equity Task Force is thinking up clever ways to steal land from hardworking farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers to pay reparations to tribes and other minorities in the form of land. Even more troubling, they doubtless plan to use this scheme as a template for future use at the national level.
We won’t allow it.
That’s why on December 11, I sent a <a href="https://www.usda.gov/sites/default/files/documents/usda-letter-gov-newsom-ca-ag-land-equity-121125.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> to Governor Newsom outlining the substantial constitutional issues with the Task Force’s <a href="https://sgc.ca.gov/wp-content/uploads/Full-Report-ADA-FINAL-CLEAN.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">draft report</a>.
In that letter, I note that “the right to own private property and our nation’s agricultural heritage are an inseparable cornerstone of the American dream and ingrained in the very fabric of our nation. The pursuit of a noble lifestyle in agriculture should transcend the pernicious identity-based politics that only serves to drive division.”
I am demanding that Governor Newsom reject and abandon any attempt to pursue the illegal recommendations in the Task Force’s report. It is unconscionable that hardworking farmers are being demeaned and shut out of opportunities simply because they don’t meet the state’s definition of “equity.”
No matter your family history, culture, or skin color, you should have equal access to government programs that can help you pursue the most American way of life: agriculture.
In the report, California proposes incentivizing the transfer of both public and private agricultural lands exclusively to tribal nations, African Americans who are the descendants of slaves, and certain other minorities.
But the blatant disregard for justice doesn’t stop there.
The report also recommends the development of local ordinances to restrict citizens from purchasing land unless they are part of a certain minority group.
This policy would encourage the state and nonprofits to outbid legacy farms at auction and then only offer agricultural leases back to minority farmers after the purchase. Tax credits, debt forgiveness, special funding, and even priority in important farm conservation programs would only be allowed to benefit a few select minority demographics.
In a move we’ve come to expect from the radical left, the report even encourages the adoption of laws requiring “climate”-related agricultural practices for the new minority landowners.
Some might be tempted to dismiss this report as a pipe dream. That would be a mistake.
Newsom and his cronies are reckless fools, but they mean business. This report is thought out and comprehensive.
California agriculture is an economic powerhouse. On its own, it ranks as the world’s fifth-largest supplier of food. That’s why what happens to agriculture in California is vitally important for the rest of the country.
Make no mistake, the proposal being discussed right now would not only hurt farmers in California, but every American.
While the Trump administration is working hard to reduce the price of food across the nation, Gavin Newsom is concocting new ways to drive up food inflation.
This radical DEI agenda needs to be stopped in its tracks, immediately. We are committed to fighting for all farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers — no matter their ZIP code.

Rapper Nicki Minaj has been engaged in a public back-and-forth with California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, calling him out for his radical stance on “gender affirming” surgery for minors, among other things.
Most recently, Newsom drew another round of responses from Minaj after he posted a wordless compilation on X, punctuated only by a zipped-lip emoji. The 12-second clip featured footage of President Donald Trump alongside the late Jeffrey Epstein, all set to Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hiss” — widely interpreted as a diss track aimed at Minaj.
Minaj responded to the clip, saying, “See Barbz? I told you he was wicked.”

The drama began last week when Newsom went all in for transing the kids, even as the concept has been receiving less mainstream support.
“I want to see trans kids… There’s no governor that’s done more pro-trans legislation than I have. No one has been a stronger advocate for the LGBT community,” Newsom said during an appearance on The Ezra Klein Show last week, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nicki-minaj-goes-scorched-earth-on-gavvy-pooh-newsom-tells-him-to-sit-2028-out?author=Virginia+Kruta&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Nicki+Minaj+Goes+Scorched+Earth+On+%E2%80%98Gavvy-Pooh%E2%80%99+Newsom%2C+Tells+Him+To+Sit+2028+Out">reported</a>.
“Imagine being the guy running on wanting to see trans kids. Haha. Not even a trans ADULT would run on that,” Minaj posted on Friday morning in response to the clip. “Normal adults wake up &amp; think they want to see HEALTHY, SAFE, HAPPY kids. Not Gav, The Gav Nots, GavOUT. Send in the next guy, I’m bored.”
“Gavin is the cute boy who got everything handed to him b/c of how cute &amp; sexy &amp; hot &amp; smoking he was. Oohhh look @‘m. Sitting there in that suit with the sneakers on,” she said. “He thinks he’s Tom Cruise only difference is, his next mission IS impossible. He should get another leading role.”
The rapper’s diatribe continued with more criticism for the governor. 
“Oh Gavvy pooh, it only gets worse from here for you, buddy. It’s the end of the road for you, my love. Get on the nearest jet ski &amp; let that beautiful hair blow in the wind. It will make you happier than this race that you will not win. Enjoy life. Peace,” she said.
Amid her criticism of Newsom, Minaj also expressed support for President Trump’s administration.
“God bless this great nation,” she tweeted alongside a message from “MAGA Voice” showing footage of the president saluting during the national anthem at the Army/Navy game.

Democrats are looking at 2028 and see Republican vulnerability.
What they see is a 2024 election that — while it was fairly solid as a win for Republicans in the Electoral College — was a pretty narrow win in the popular vote. They think that perhaps they can reverse the tide, perhaps take the White House in 2028 with someone like Gavin Newsom.
Thus, Democrats have shifted away from their 2024 failing strategy, taking the least popular parts of their agenda and moving those to the back burner.
We heard all about equity in the run-up to the 2020 election. It was the centerpiece of the Joe Biden campaign. In 2024, it was again the centerpiece of the late-breaking Kamala Harris campaign in 2024.
You no longer hear Democrats talking about equity each and every day the way that they were before. Instead, they are talking about “affordability.” The same thing is true about radical trans issues. The politics of transgenderism are awful for Democrats.
The vast majority of Americans believe that boys are boys and girls are girls, and boys cannot become girls, and attempts to brainwash children into the idea that they are, in fact, members of the opposite sex, or even could be members of the opposite sex, is perverse. Telling a young kid that you might have a girl’s brain in a boy&#8217;s body is not only gnostic and scientifically nonsensical, it is also terribly wrong to do that to children.
That was the general perception among Americans, and it drove huge numbers for President Trump. The single most effective ad of the 2024 campaign was on this issue from the Trump campaign, and suggested that Kamala was for transgenders while President Trump was for you.
If you talk to people in minority communities who swiveled from Democrat to Republican, this was a major issue because the trans issue — which affected a fairly small percentage of the population, went to fundamental truths about our society.
Could you trust people who told such a basic lie: that boys could be girls?
The answer was no.

So Democrats have decided that they are going to put that on the back burner. One of those Democrats was Gavin Newsom.
A few months ago, Gavin Newsom was doing a podcast with the late Charlie Kirk in which Charlie pressed Gavin Newsom on trans politics. Newsom admitted that boys should not be playing in girls’ sports, admitting that it was unfair.
But — the other day, Newsom — having been asked questions by members of the Democratic base and believing that he is the front runner for the 2028 Democratic nomination — did a podcast with Ezra Klein of The New York Times in which he was asked about his take on trans politics.
Now that Newsom believes that he has to win primaries in the Democratic Party as he prepares for that 2028 run, he swiveled back into a losing strategy for Democrats. 
“I want to see trans kids,” he proclaimed, continuing: “I have a trans godson. There’s no governor that’s done more pro-trans legislation than I have. No one has been a stronger advocate for the LGBTQ community.” 
The normie position is that there is no such thing as a trans kid. There are kids who may have gender dysphoria. That is a different thing. There is no such thing as a kid who is a boy in a girl&#8217;s body, or upon whom we should be performing hormonal therapies and surgeries that are utterly unscientific and permanently damaging to them.
So when Gavin Newsom says, “I want to see trans kids, there&#8217;s no governor that&#8217;s done more pro trans legislation than I have,” that creates a real awkwardness for the Democratic Party. 
This broke into the open because it precipitated a confrontation with Elon Musk.
America, a PAC founded by Musk, posted the video of Newsom, and it went viral. Gavin Newsom&#8217;s press office replied, referring to one of Musk’s sons who identifies as a woman, “We&#8217;re sorry your daughter hates you, Elon.”
It&#8217;s insane to get personal on these sorts of issues.
When I discuss these issues, I try not to get personal. The reason I try not to get personal is because once you&#8217;re into the emotional valence of somebody&#8217;s family, you have a problem.
A few years ago, I spoke at the University of British Columbia in Canada, and it was about this issue. A person got up who identified as a woman. He started personalizing the question, saying, “My family treats me as though I&#8217;m a girl.”
I replied, “You know, I would really appreciate it if we could keep this on the level of the philosophical and issue-based, because once we get into critiquing interpersonal relations, this is going to get very personal very quickly.”
This person kept insisting, ”No, I know that I&#8217;m a woman because my family treats me as a woman.” And I kept saying, “Please, I don&#8217;t want to talk about how your family treats you because that&#8217;s about your family. It&#8217;s about the broader issue, which is the question of public policy and how we ought to deal with these issues as a general society”.
But the person wouldn&#8217;t stop. Finally I said, “The reason that your family is saying to you that you are a woman and confirming you in your delusion is because they are afraid that you will do something bad to yourself, not because they actually believe that you are a woman. They do not believe that you are a girl. They know that you are not. They are trying to humor you because they&#8217;re afraid of what will happen if they do not.”
This person got extremely emotional and rushed out of the room. It was a perfect YouTube clip, but the reason you&#8217;ve never seen that on YouTube is because I went to the organizers of the event and asked them to remove that from the tape of the event, because I knew that this person was going to be damaged by that tape. It would have hurt him.
Not only that, I then found friends of the person and asked this person to come to breakfast the next morning with me to make sure this person was okay.
That’s because when you merge the personal and the political in this way, it gets really ugly, really quickly.
Gavin Newsom&#8217;s press office targeting Musk over his child was truly ugly stuff.
Musk then tweeted back, “I assume you’re referring to my son, Xavier, who has a tragic mental illness caused by the evil woke mind virus you push on vulnerable children. I love Xavier very much and hope he recovers. My daughters are Azure, Exa (she goes by Y) and Arcadia, and they do indeed love me very much.”
The fact that Newsom&#8217;s office went that low is really disgusting, and shows how the Democrats are going to run headlong into their own radicalism on this issue.
Newsom seems like he&#8217;s trying to avoid the issue altogether. But if he is dragged back into discussing this issue, and if Democrats keep making the same moral litmus test as to whether boys can be girls, especially minors, then they&#8217;re going to be in for a world of hurt.

Rapper Nicki Minaj took a social media sledgehammer to Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) on Friday, mocking him and warning him against entering the 2028 presidential race.
Minaj, fresh off her United Nations <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nicki-minaj-drops-mic-on-nigerias-anti-christian-violence-at-un">testimony</a> calling for the defense of persecuted Christians, initially lashed out at Newsom over a recent interview in which he said, &#8220;I want to see trans kids.&#8221;

Actress Halle Berry is not pleased with California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom.
The 59-year-old Academy Award winner tore into Newsom while speaking at The New York Times DealBook Summit on Wednesday, saying she had “zero f**** left to give” at this stage of life and would therefore speak candidly about her opinion.
Berry, who founded the menopause care company Respin Health, was upset that Newsom vetoed a bill focused on menopause and accused the governor of failing women of a certain age.
“Back in my great state of California, my very own governor, Gavin Newsom, has vetoed our menopause bill, not one, but two years in a row,” the “Monster’s Ball” star told the crowd. “But that’s okay, because he’s not going to be governor forever, and with the way he has overlooked women, half the population, by devaluing us in midlife, he probably should not be our next president either. Just saying.”

Billionaire Tom Steyer is hopping into the crowded California gubernatorial race, and he’s already getting attention in the competitive contest.
Steyer unsuccessfully sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020 and has made a name for himself in the liberal climate activism world. He “self-financed” $342 million in his failed bid, according to Open Secrets.
“The richest people in America think that they earned everything themselves,” he said in his campaign launch video. “Bulls***, man. That’s so ridiculous. There’s a reason everybody comes here to start businesses; because this is the place that invents the future.”
Former Rep. Katie Porter, who’s considered a frontrunner in the race, slammed Steyer’s campaign launch.
“A new billionaire in our race claims he&#8217;ll fight the very industries he got rich helping grow — fossil fuel companies, tobacco, and private immigration detention facilities — at great cost to Californians. I call bulls***,” Porter wrote.

“Californians are looking for a Governor who actually understands how a spike in utility bills or an increase in housing costs cripples our families’ budgets. The Washington Free Beacon pointed out Federal Election Commission records in which Steyer donated thousands to Porter’s past congressional campaigns. Porter ran for Senate in 2024 unsuccessfully, as now Sen. Adam Schiff and Republican Steve Garvey advanced to the general election, and she came in a distant third place.
The field in the top-two primary includes Democrats such as Porter, former Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Ramón Villaraigosa, former California State Assembly Majority Leader Ian Calderon, and former California State Controller Betty Yee, among others. On the Republican side, former Fox News host Steve Hilton and Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco are in the running.
“You&#8217;re complaining about California&#8217;s ‘cost of living’? Look in the mirror!” Hilton posted in response to Steyer’s announcement. “It&#8217;s your insane &#8216;climate agenda&#8217; that caused the problem!” Hilton’s point is likely to be tested on the campaign trail, as the state is facing mounting concerns about how refinery closures could impact gas prices in the Golden State.

The Justice Department sued California on Monday to block the implementation of two bills signed by Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom that would regulate the actions of federal agents carrying out immigration enforcement operations in the state.
The laws, both signed by Newsom on September 20, block Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from wearing masks or concealing their faces while on the job and require them to visibly display identification of their agency. The suit, filed in the Central District of California, argues that the laws violate the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution and endanger federal agents. 
“The No Secret Police Act and No Vigilantes Act directly regulate the Federal Government by dictating permissible uniforms for federal agents and forcing federal agencies to adopt specified policies,&#8221; the <a href="https://www.justice.gov/opa/media/1418431/dl?inline=&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=govdelivery">suit</a> said. &#8220;But the Federal Government, not California, has authority to control its own agents and activities.”
Named in the suit are Newsom and California Attorney General Rob Bonta, another Democrat. 
The suit argues that the laws would “recklessly endanger the lives of federal agents and their family members and compromise the operational effectiveness of federal law enforcement activities.”
The Department of Homeland Security has said that ICE officers have faced a 1000% increase in assaults this year and has pointed to efforts to dox and threaten the families of ICE agents. In September, three women were <a href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-cdca/pr/federal-grand-jury-charges-three-women-following-ice-agent-home-work-and-livestreaming">charged</a> after they were accused of following an ICE agent to his home before posting his home address to Instagram. 
The Justice Department said that the federal government did not intend to comply with the laws, both of which take effect on January 1. 
The department argued that the laws would “thwart” the use of plainclothes surveillance.
“Because suspects who recognize officers may take preemptive actions to evade apprehension and obstruct enforcement efforts, masking is critical for maintaining operational effectiveness, especially in areas where repeat offenders or organized criminal networks are prevalent,” the suit argued. 
Bonta said he was reviewing the Justice Department&#8217;s complaint. 
“It’s problematic when Californians can’t tell the difference between a law enforcement officer who is charged with protecting them and a criminal who is attempting to cause them harm,&#8221; Bonta&#8217;s office said in a statement. “The FBI itself has warned that the practice of ICE agents obscuring their identity has led to a rise in copycats committing crimes, threatening public safety and eroding trust in law enforcement.”

California officials misled a federal judge about policies that hide students&#8217; &#8220;gender transitions&#8221; from parents at schools, bombshell documents uncovered by a legal firm appear to show.
On Monday, California officials will appear before U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez for a <a href="https://cdn.prod.website-files.com/63d954d4e4ad424df7819d46/690e752307c0ae224314bd61_Dkt.%20294_ORDER%20-%20Show%20Cause%20RE%20Sanctions.pdf">show cause hearing</a> to provide evidence on why they shouldn’t be sanctioned for attempting to mislead the court about state policies that would prohibit parents from being informed about their children’s supposed &#8220;gender identity.&#8221; The hearing is the latest saga in a multi-year challenge to school policies adopted in California that teachers say would force them to lie to parents about students suffering from gender dysphoria. 
“We now have irrefutable evidence that the [California Department of Education] covertly moved these unconstitutional gender secrecy directives inside a password-protected training hidden away from public view, and distributed them to school districts statewide,” said Paul Jonna, a lawyer with the Thomas More Society. Jonna is representing two teachers, Elizabeth Mirabelli and Lori West, who sued the Escondido Union School District in 2023 over a policy that kept parents in the dark about their children&#8217;s so-called gender identity. 
The California Department of Education has argued that it should not be a party to the case because it claims not to have mandated parental exclusion. They claim that a <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20240113000622/https://www.cde.ca.gov/re/di/eo/faqs.asp">frequently-asked-questions</a> page posted by the department has been edited to show that they do not mandate parental exclusion, and so there is no more cause for complaint. The FAQ page included a line that said &#8220;with rare exceptions, schools are required to respect the limitations that a student places on the disclosure of their transgender status, including not sharing that information with the student’s parents.&#8221;
While that guidance was deleted, policies that kept parents in the dark about their children were still promoted in statewide teacher trainings.
Lawyers for the Thomas More Society obtained training materials developed by the state that appear to prove just that. The materials were found in California’s PRISM <a href="https://www.cde.ca.gov/ci/pl/prism.asp">framework</a>, which describes itself as “a six-course online training for certificated educators that provides resources to support LGBTQ+ youth.”
Currently, the materials are unavailable on the state’s <a href="https://prismcalifornia.org/home">website</a>, but the Thomas More Society included them in a court <a href="https://cdn.prod.website-files.com/63d954d4e4ad424df7819d46/6913872618ec89d3116895a5_Supplemental_Briefs_Mirabelli_Sanctions.pdf">filing</a>. They can be viewed on a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5k2FLutwlQ">video</a> uploaded to YouTube.

Inside those materials is a section on “School Legal Responsibilities,&#8221; which it says includes mandates for “inclusive policies, respect for gender identity, anti-discrimination protections, and privacy rights.” It recommends and links to guidelines from the Our Family Coalition that say parents should be kept in the dark if they are not supportive.
“School staff must respect students’ right to privacy and may not affirmatively disclose a student’s LGBTQ status to others without the student’s permission,” the guidance from the San Francisco-based LGBT organization says. “Students have a right to privacy in personal information about their sexual orientation and gender identity, and outing students both at school or at home violates this right and also risks exposing students to harassment. If a student is not out at home, schools should offer them support for working towards family acceptance.”

The official teacher training also links to recommendations from the ACLU of Southern California that outline similar standards. 
“Generally, school staff cannot share information about your gender identity and sexual orientation without your permission, except under very limited circumstances, such as in case of an emergency,” the guidance says, adding that only in “limited circumstances” can school staff tell parents about their child’s gender identity. 
The PRISM training also linked to policies from the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network that stated, “School staff shall not disclose any information that may reveal a student’s transgender status to others, including parents or guardians.&#8221;
Jonna said the evidence that California officials attempted to mislead Benitez is damning. 
“The State claimed in court that it had rescinded the gender secrecy directives we are challenging,” he said. “But we now have evidence of a coordinated, statewide campaign to enforce Parental Exclusion Policies. The State Defendants are attempting to knowingly mislead a Federal Court in order to evade judicial review and prejudice Plaintiffs and the Certified Class. This is one of the most egregious attempts I’ve seen — if not the most — to mislead a Court, and it warrants severe sanctions.”
Benitez will also consider the constitutionality of “parental exclusion policies&#8221; on Monday. He has certified the case as a class action lawsuit, meaning that it will apply to any parent or teacher who objects to California’s policies. Those policies were put forth in California Assembly Bill 1955, which was signed by California Governor Gavin Newsom, and prohibits local school districts from passing measures requiring teachers to inform parents about a student&#8217;s identity. 
Benitez, an appointee of President George W. Bush, already granted an injunction to Mirabelli and West back in 2023, protecting them from having to abide by the policy. 
Defendants in the case <a href="https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/67279752/parties/mirabelli-v-olson/">include</a> Newsom, California Attorney General Rob Bonta, and gubernatorial candidate and California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond. Bonta sued the Chino Valley Unified School District in August 2023 over a policy it implemented protecting parental rights to know how their children are identifying. 
Greg Burt, the vice president of the California Family Council, said that it appeared that the state was &#8220;scrambling&#8221; to hide its policies and that it looked like parents in the Golden State were going to pick up a win.
&#8220;We are very excited these two teachers, down in the San Diego area, stood up to the state and instead of just following what they were saying about keeping secrets they said they couldn&#8217;t do that,&#8221; he told The Daily Wire. &#8220;Their decision to be brave is going to have a positive, hopefully a positive effect on the entire state.&#8221;

The Justice Department is fighting back against the Democrat-backed congressional maps in California following the overwhelming passage of Prop. 50, which would temporarily change the state’s maps in the next three election cycles.
First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California Bill Essayli said that the DOJ “filed a motion to intervene in the Prop 50 lawsuit.”
“The race-based gerrymandered maps passed by the California legislature are unlawful and unconstitutional. We are moving swiftly to prevent these illegal maps from tainting our upcoming elections,&#8221; Essayli posted to X. “California is free to draw congressional maps, but they may not be drawn based on race.”
Proposition 50 would allow for five seats to potentially add to the Democrats&#8217; roster in the House, and it was done as a direct countermeasure to Texas’ Republican-backed mid-decade redistricting efforts earlier this year.
“These losers lost at the ballot box and soon they will also lose in court,” a spokesperson for Newsom’s office told The Daily Wire in an email on Thursday.
Attorney General Pam Bondi posted to X on Thursday that “Newsom should be concerned about keeping Californians safe and shutting down Antifa violence, not rigging his state for political gain.”
The California Republican Party announced legal action against the maps last week, calling them unconstitutional.
“Dear Gavin Newsom, I hate to rain on your parade but your celebration over the passage of Prop 50 will need to wait a few days,” Mark Meuser, an attorney with Dhillon Law Group, posted to X regarding the lawsuit.
“You have been sued. Your unconstitutional racial gerrymandering is now heading to a federal three-judge panel and maybe to the SCOTUS to determining if your use of race in drawing congressional districts should be enjoined,” Meuser added.
The Daily Wire reported last week that the nation’s redistricting fight continues to get messier, as multiple red and blue states have already taken or are weighing mid-decade redistricting steps. Redistricting is typically only done each decade when there is new census data, but the fight for the House and a Voting Rights Act case before the Supreme Court could drastically change the landscape in 2026, or leave it looking similar with extra steps in between.
Hans von Spakovsky, a senior legal fellow at the Heritage Foundation, told <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/americas-redistricting-battle-keeps-getting-messier">The Daily Wire</a> last week that Republicans could ultimately have the upper hand nationwide. Republicans currently hold a narrow 219-214 majority.
“I think the Republicans will, and the reason for that is that, you know, with a few exceptions, Democratic-controlled states have already gerrymandered their states pretty much to the maximum you can,” he said.
“So, I actually think even if California is successful, I think with what the other states are doing, I still think Republicans may come out slightly ahead,” he added.
“Look, what’s at stake in the Louisiana case is actually very simple: it’s the conflict between the Voting Rights Act and the 14th Amendment,” he continued, noting that Louisiana v. Callais could potentially pave the way for many more Republican seats in the south, as it could possibly result in Section 2 of the VRA being nixed.

The former chief of staff to California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom was charged Wednesday in connection with a complicated scheme to steal funds from a campaign account previously belonging to former Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra.
The Justice Department unveiled a 23-count <a href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-edca/media/1417121/dl?inline">indictment</a> against 53-year-old Democrat consultant Dana Williamson, charging her with bank fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States and obstruct justice, subscribing to false tax returns, and making false statements. Williamson, who worked for Newsom between 2022 and 2024, is accused of participating in a scheme to divert $225,000 from Becerra’s dormant campaign account.
“This is a crucial step in an ongoing political corruption investigation that began more than three years ago,” said U.S. Attorney Eric Grant. “As it always has, the U.S. Attorney’s Office will continue to work tirelessly with our law enforcement partners to protect the people of California from political corruption.”
The indictment alleges that Williamson worked with lobbyist Greg Campbell and former Becerra chief of staff Sean McCluskie to funnel funds from the dormant campaign account. Prosecutors say the scheme operated between February 2022 and September 2024.

Both McCluskie and Campbell accepted plea deals last month related to the scheme. 
“Mr. Campbell takes full accountability for his actions and is cooperating fully with the legal process,” Todd Pickles, a lawyer for Campbell, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/11/12/us/newsom-aide-corruption-charges.html">said</a> in a statement. He added that Campbell is “an honorable former public servant and a positive and respected member of the community who has conducted himself with integrity through this deeply challenging process.”
The indictment also alleged that Williamson claimed more than $1 million in fraudulent tax deductions. This includes claiming deductions for items like a $15,353 Chanel handbag and ring, a $5,818 Fendi handbag and wallet, a $19,498 heating and cooling system at her home, a $9,859 watch, a $6,324 couch for her home, a $21,175 private jet charter, a $15,662 luxury hotel stay on her birthday, and $156,302 for a luxury vacation in Mexico, according to the indictment. 
Williamson pleaded not guilty to the charges during an appearance in federal court on Wednesday. Footage shared online by California political reporter Ashley Zavala showed her exiting the courthouse without responding to questions from reporters.

McGregor Scott, Williamson’s lawyer, accused the Trump administration of showboating in its handling of the case. 
“They chose the grandstanding route,” he told the New York Times. “The only conclusion I can draw is this is the latest misstep taken down the wrong road by the Trump Justice Department.”
If convicted, Williamson could face decades in prison and penalties totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Becerra, who is running for governor of California, said he was cooperating with federal authorities. 
&#8220;The news today of formal accusations of impropriety by a long-serving trusted advisor are a gut punch,” he said. “As California’s former Attorney General, I fully comprehend the importance of allowing this investigation and legal process to run its course through our justice system.”

There is a serious battle happening inside the Democratic Party, ranging from the radicals — led by people like Zohran Mamdani, AOC, and Bernie Sanders — to the more traditional liberals, who don&#8217;t seem to have any sort of systemic immunity, to the moderate Democrats who are increasingly feeling out of step with their own party. 
Meanwhile, President Trump just keeps trucking along. Yesterday, the president of the United States spent Veterans Day <a href="https://www.c-span.org/program/white-house-event/veterans-day-observance-ceremony/668831">speaking</a> about the value of our veterans, stating:

On Veterans Day, we honor those who have worn the uniform, who have borne the battle, who have stood to watch, whose ranks have formed the mighty wall of flesh and blood, bravery and devotion, that has defended our freedom for 250 years. Today, to every veteran — we love our veterans — we say the words too often left unsaid: “Thank you for your service.”</blockquote>
President Trump has a baseline level of patriotism that comes through in everything that he does. The man truly loves this country and obviously loves the American flag and the American military.
He continued by speaking about what we owe to the military — something the radical Democrats do not believe — saying:

Contrast that with how Hasan Piker has been spending the last few days. He went to China, and while he was in China, he decided that he was <a href="https://x.com/DrewPavlou/status/1988137151666811252?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1988137151666811252%7Ctwgr%5Ef2722b4aaef4e9a3eebbeeca5a382b177a407c5a%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.mediaite.com%2Fmedia%2Fnews%2Fhasan-piker-declares-i-dont-have-any-patriotism-for-america-while-streaming-from-tiananmen-square%2F">going to blather</a> about how America is terrible —  in a country that legitimately censors everything you do, kills its opposition, and runs them over with tanks. Hasan Piker was in Tiananmen Square, where protesters against the Chinese government were murdered.
“I don&#8217;t have any sort of patriotism in my heart for America, but just in general. &#8230; I care about people,” he declared.
If that is the choice that Americans are given, and if Democrats continue to embrace this sort of radicalism, they are in some real trouble.
Hasan Piker is, of course, fairly close with Zohran Mamdani, the new mayor-elect of New York. He attended his victory party in New York, where he was going around saying on camera that it was a tragedy that the Soviet Union had collapsed.

So, radicals are taking over the Democratic Party. There&#8217;s no question they are the ones with the momentum at this point, if the Democratic Party refuses to stand up and say no.
On Monday, there was a protest that turned into <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chaos-breaks-out-at-tpusa-event-as-leftist-agitators-harass-attendees">a small riot</a> outside a TPUSA event at the University of California, Berkeley. This sort of thing has become common; Antifa radicals and their allies show up at events such as the TPUSA event.
Are there enough normie Democrats to stop this radicalism from taking over the party? The problem for them is that they are perfectly willing to go along with this sort of thing.
The liberal mainstream Democratic Party wants to capture what they think is the jet fuel of the radicals. Thus, Gavin Newsom <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2025/11/11/gavin-newsom-shames-democrats-who-caved-in-shutdown-battle-pathetic-capitulation-and-a-betrayal/">raged</a> against the end of the shutdown. His press office <a href="https://x.com/GavinNewsom/status/1987703732600184837?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1987703732600184837%7Ctwgr%5E807c3bcc7a79a3fba5814b124ef44e98f88738fd%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.breitbart.com%2Ft%2Fassets%2Fhtml%2Ftweet-5.html1987703732600184837">put out</a> a <a href="https://x.com/GovPressOffice/status/1987664398014677442?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1987664398014677442%7Ctwgr%5E07e1858e7a95c5c9a4f8972a44bd6f9566a290ab%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.breitbart.com%2Ft%2Fassets%2Fhtml%2Ftweet-5.html1987664398014677442">statement</a>: “Pathetic. This isn&#8217;t a deal. It&#8217;s a surrender. Don&#8217;t bend the knee!”
That’s Gavin Newsom linking arms with the radicals in his own party. J.B. Pritzker, who, like Newsom, wants to run for president, also said that the government should remain closed. 
California Rep. Ro Khanna <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2025/11/12/ro-khanna-senate-democrats-shutdown-schumer/">says</a> the Democratic leadership is “out of touch.”
To understand what’s now happening inside the Democratic Party, look no further than the historical analogy found in the Russian Revolution. There were some soft socialists, the so-called Russian whites, led by a guy named Alexander Kerensky. They were trying to hold off the Reds, and started off in an unenviable position militarily, but ended up winning because eventually there wasn&#8217;t enough systemic immunity to stop them.
That&#8217;s where we are right now. The systemic immunity is gone.
We&#8217;ll see how long this current Democratic Party can last without splintering into pieces.
