Sen. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/jd-vance" target="_blank" rel="noopener">JD Vance</a> (R-OH), the 2024 GOP vice presidential nominee, pushed back on comparisons being made between former President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Donald Trump</a> and the Nazis.
Trump held a campaign rally with Vance and many of his supporters at <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-fans-gather-early-for-madison-square-garden-rally-speaker-lineup-released" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Madison Square Garden</a> in New York City this past weekend. Although the famed venue has long been used for other political events, including the Democratic National Convention, critics cherry-picked how it held <a href="https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/americans-hold-nazi-rally-in-madison-square-garden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pro-Nazi gatherings</a> <a href="https://mashable.com/feature/nazis-madison-square-garden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">in the 1930s</a>.
On X, someone posted an <a href="https://www.gettyimages.com/search/2/image?phrase=madison+square+garden+nazi" target="_blank" rel="noopener">image</a> of a pro-Nazi event at Madison Square Garden and wrote that it was the last time an &#8220;America First&#8221; rally had been held there. Nebraska State Sen. Megan Hunt <a href="https://x.com/DrewSul22351735/status/1850647633091514532" target="_blank" rel="noopener">responded</a>, &#8220;They know! They love it!! It’s 100% on purpose and they think it’s funny and they cooked you if you don’t like it.&#8221;

That&#8217;s where Vance came in on Monday with a volley of posts making reference to World War II, particularly <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/d-day-from-the-greatest-generation-to-the-most-obnoxious-generation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">D-Day</a>, when U.S. forces and their allies stormed the beaches of Normandy, France, on June 6, 1944, in a campaign against the Nazis.
&#8220;There are so many reasons this is ridiculous, but here&#8217;s one: Who do you actually think the gross majority of the men who stormed the beaches at Normandy would vote for? The answer is obvious: Donald J. Trump,&#8221; Vance <a href="https://x.com/JDVance/status/1850918361212854554" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in response to Hunt.
