Jewish Republicans were encouraged to give Vice President JD Vance a “warm welcome” ahead of his speech to the Republican Jewish Coalition by former Israeli Ambassador Ron Dermer, a close confidant of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Dermer, who served as Israel’s ambassador to the United States from 2013 to 2021 and later as the country’s minister of strategic affairs, spoke to the gathering just before Vance addressed the conference Monday night. He praised Vance’s support for Israel and his role during the 12-day war between Israel and Iran in 2025, telling attendees he was grateful for the vice president’s actions at a critical moment.
Dermer’s remarks came as Vance has faced criticism from some in the pro-Israel community over his close relationship with conservative podcaster Tucker Carlson, who has repeatedly platformed numerous antisemites. But Dermer offered the audience a more personal account of his relationship with Vance, recalling that he first met the future vice president when Vance was running for Senate in Ohio.
“I first met the vice president when he was running for Senate,” Dermer said. “I was out of office, and he was running for Senate in Ohio. And somebody suggested, ‘Hey, this person, you know, is going to run. You should really go meet him.’”
Dermer said he and Vance subsequently spent roughly two hours together over lunch in Jerusalem.
“And he was—he’s definitely one of the smartest people that I had met in the Senate,” Dermer said, adding with a joke, “You could say that’s a low bar, but he’s super smart.”
More importantly, Dermer said Vance was focused from the beginning on understanding the strategic rationale behind the U.S.-Israel relationship.
Dermer then turned to Vance’s role during the 12-day war between Israel and Iran in June 2025, describing the conflict as one of the most significant military successes in Israel’s history.
“And I want to tell this audience something,” Dermer said. “That 12-day war that we did last June, I was out of government when this—this recent joint operation started.”
Dermer said the conflict represented “the greatest and most spectacular military success that Israel has ever had” since the Six-Day War.
He specifically credited Vance with playing a critical role in the operation, particularly during its opening hours, when maintaining an element of surprise was essential.
“The Vice President of the United States, Vice President Vance, played a critical role in that 12-day war, and particularly the first day, where that element of surprise was so critical to our success,” Dermer said.
“And I will be forever grateful for the role that he played at that critical moment,” he continued. “It kept Israel safe, and I commend you for inviting him here tonight.”
Vance received a warm reception when he took the stage Monday night for a conversation with RJC National Chairman and former Minnesota Sen. Norm Coleman. The discussion was held off the record and closed to the press, but The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/listen-jd-vances-secret-interview-in-front-of-republican-jews">obtained a full recording</a>.
During the conversation, Coleman directly raised the issue of controversial podcasters, naming Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Joe Rogan and Nick Fuentes, and asked Vance how he determines when to engage with platforms that have given a voice to people accused of holding antisemitic views.
Vance defended his willingness to appear on influential podcasts, arguing that Republicans need to reach voters wherever they are rather than shun controversial figures.
“I do not think that Joe Rogan and Nick Fuentes are the same,” Vance said, drawing a distinction between the two based on both their ideas and their reach.
Vance said he believes Republicans should engage with people like Rogan even when they disagree with things the podcaster has said.
“I think it’s a mistake to sort of say we’re going to write Joe Rogan off because he said something that we don’t like,” Vance said. “I think the best approach is to actually go in there, and talk to him, and make the arguments as best as you can.”
Vance pointed to Rogan’s reach among persuadable voters as evidence that Republicans cannot afford to ignore influential podcasters. He said Republicans had studied podcast audiences in connection with the midterm elections and found that Rogan’s audience included a substantially larger percentage of persuadable voters than those of other major podcasters.
“With Rogan, it’s something like 35 to 40%,” Vance said.
“And so I think that there, one, I do not think that Joe Rogan and Nick Fuentes are the same, just substantively, but as a political matter, I think that we have got to be willing to go everywhere and bring our message anywhere and to any person,” he said.
Vance acknowledged that his approach would mean appearing in environments where hosts or audiences may hold views with which he strongly disagrees.
“You got to meet people where they are and make the arguments as best as you can,” he said. “And that is I think ultimately how you win the political debate. It’s not by shunning people.”
He said there were nevertheless limits to whom he would engage, citing people who had attacked his wife or praised Adolf Hitler.
“But outside of some pretty bright lines, I try to talk to as many people as I can,” Vance said.
Vance did not directly condemn Carlson during the exchange.
The vice president has also faced criticism from prominent Jewish and pro-Israel figures over his own comments about Israel, including remarks suggesting that some Israeli officials have sought to influence American public opinion to prolong the war.

President Donald Trump will appear on both nights of the first-ever midterm Republican National Convention next month in Dallas, Texas, The Daily Wire can first report, with his keynote address planned for night two.
The convention is set to be a &#8220;primetime showcase&#8221; of the Trump administration&#8217;s wins since Trump took office last year, with plans to contrast Democrat extremism with Republican common sense. Both Trump and Vice President JD Vance will be in Texas to support Republican candidates ahead of the midterm elections, with Vance giving the keynote address on night one.
For the first time in history, the convention will be open to the public with a limited number of free tickets made available through a lottery. Each night will highlight the men and women running in key races nationwide, as well as &#8220;everyday Americans&#8221; who support the president and his party.
The RNC wants to unify the party around a &#8220;simple message,&#8221; according to a messaging memo reviewed by The Daily Wire.
&#8220;Americans want strong borders and sound immigration policies, not sanctuary cities and the unspeakable crimes that comes with them,&#8221; the messaging document said. &#8220;They want to continue to reap the profound benefits from the One Big Beautiful Bill: no tax on tips, new pathways to retirement savings, and a vibrant economy that lifts all boats. Parents want a common-sense approach to education, youth sports, and school choice — not a liberal lecture on transgender rights and those who think boys should be allowed to play in girls athletics.&#8221;
Any ability to unify will put Republicans a step ahead of the Democrats, who are grappling with an influx of Democratic Socialist of America candidates. Trump has pounded the message that the Democrat candidates embracing socialism are far too radical for Americans. The convention will offer Republicans an opportunity to make that case once again.
“President Donald Trump and Republicans have delivered historic results for the American people, and every hour of this historic convention will tell that story,&#8221; RNC Chairman Joe Gruters said. &#8220;Over two action-packed days, we will take Americans through the defining issues of our Party’s agenda and what is at stake in November.&#8221;
&#8220;Each hour will have its own theme, its own message, and its own voices, building toward President Donald Trump’s vision for the next chapter of American greatness,&#8221; he promised. &#8220;This will be unlike any political convention America has seen before.”
On Wednesday, September 9, the first night of the convention, speakers will highlight the Working Families Tax Cuts, efforts to root out waste and fraud, and healthcare successes such as the $50 billion Rural Health Transformation Program.
The convention will then contrast the &#8220;mainstream&#8221; Republican policies with &#8220;extreme&#8221; Democrat policies through &#8220;Two Visions for America.&#8221; It will also call for passing the SAVE America Act, Trump&#8217;s major election reform initiative, and introduce key candidates in target districts, contrasting these candidates with Democrat opponents.
Speakers will also spotlight &#8220;No Tax on Tips,&#8221; the enhanced Child Tax Credit, the successful enforcement on the border, including the sixteen consecutive months of zero interior releases, protection of religious freedom and the promotion of national pride, Trump&#8217;s &#8220;America First trade policy,&#8221; and efforts to make American cities such as the nation&#8217;s capital safe and clean again.
That also includes the president&#8217;s moves to protect education and root out gender ideology, critical race theory, and more from American institutions.
Ahead of Vance&#8217;s remarks on that first night of the convention, officials will highlight economic success stories alongside &#8220;workers and everyday Americans.&#8221;
The second day of the convention, September 10, will open with families who are receiving multiple benefits from &#8220;No Tax on Tips, Overtime, and Social Security.&#8221; This second night will also highlight Trump&#8217;s expansions of school choice, the hostages brought home by the president, efforts to target corruption such as a Capitol Hill trading ban, food security and public health, the concept of sports as a unifying force, and border security.
That night will also be used to honor the legacy of Charlie Kirk, on the one-year anniversary of his assassination. The convention plans on &#8220;converting that legacy into a call to mobilize voters,&#8221; which was one of Kirk&#8217;s primary goals through Turning Point USA.
The convention will also highlight Angel Parents and border victims, and mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11 with the children and families of first responders.
In the hour leading up to the president&#8217;s keynote address, speakers will focus on how Republicans are empowering families to Make America Healthy Again.
They will also showcase the party&#8217;s wins while &#8220;defining the agenda and future direction of the party,&#8221; present the &#8220;Opposition Contrast&#8221; as they deliver the night&#8217;s &#8220;sharpest partisan case against the extreme liberal Democrats,&#8221; and highlight how Republicans are putting American workers ahead of global elites in trade policy, tax relief, and energy dominance.
Trump will take the stage and deliver the evening&#8217;s keynote address at 9 p.m. Eastern time.
The party&#8217;s core message, according to the messaging document, is that &#8220;the stakes could not be higher,&#8221; and that the November elections will decide whether to take Americans on a path to safety or a path to obstruction.
&#8220;One that leads to prosperity, peace through strength, and a doubling-down on core American ideals – or the one littered with far-left liberal ideology and policies that have decimated our cities, outsourced American jobs to China and beyond, and provided the dismal promise of a future filled with high taxes and low wages.&#8221;
&#8220;The choice,&#8221; the RNC said, &#8220;is crystal clear.&#8221;

I want to talk about the responsibility of our political leadership when it comes to conspiracies.
That is perhaps the biggest issue in today&#8217;s politics, with ramifications far beyond whatever benighted crap Candace, Joe Rogan, or Theo Von dump on their podcast.
“Whatever the spin is about Tyler Robinson, there&#8217;s some bullsh*t to it,” Rogan said. “I don&#8217;t know how much of it is bullsh*t, but there&#8217;s some bullsh*t.”
I like Joe personally. He&#8217;s a nice guy.
Also, this kind of stupidity ought to immediately make you question Joe&#8217;s capacity to discern truth from fiction. This is essentially the same as endorsing the theory that staring at hieroglyphics can solve your health problems.
Joe did that recently.

I&#8217;m not super shocked by this kind of stuff. Joe tends to believe pretty much every conspiracy theory that he can find, because let&#8217;s be real, conspiracies are fun. They’re chatty. You can fill five hours talking with your comedian friends about how the moon landing was fake, and underwater demons who might be aliens control our lives.
Joe’s shtick is that he is basically a caveman discovering the world by talking with everyone — which never results in any firmly held beliefs. Thus he&#8217;ll endorse James Talarico, the psychotic Left-wing Howdy Doody of Texas, but also Donald Trump within two years of each other.
But it&#8217;s fun to watch the journey. It&#8217;s just sitting with your friends in college and popping open a beer or, in Joe&#8217;s case, smoking a blunt and waxing philosophic on “whether your chair really exists, man,” or “whether when you see the color red and I see the color red, is it the same color red, bro?” Or, “Which Kardashian sister is the hottest?”
Under normal circumstances, that&#8217;s fine and fun; it’s a free country; you can listen to what you want.
But.
Two things make this kind of stuff a problem for America more generally: first, when people start treating it seriously, and second, when politicians start treating it seriously.
Part and parcel of Joe&#8217;s comedic world is black-pilling. This is very common in comedy because comedy is about making fun of the world as it is. It&#8217;s not about offering solutions. It&#8217;s not about trying to come to a consensus. Comedy is inherently black-pilled.
I&#8217;m not going to blame Joe for any of this sort of stuff. One of the things that makes Joe such a successful podcaster is that he contains multitudes, including a variety of totally conflicting viewpoints.
But a bunch of young men use Joe Rogan as a sort of political litmus test. It turns out that young men will follow pretty much anybody — even using the alleged sex-trafficking Tate brothers as a moral litmus test.
Following these people is stupid. If you&#8217;re not doing it for fun, if you&#8217;re using them as political guides rather than gossipy buddies, there’s a problem.
But the more dangerous problem is when our political leaders decide to follow this group.
Which brings us to the modern GOP.
Top members of the GOP, most prominently the vice president, think the path to political victory lies in winning over the Rogan bros. And the vice president has made this pretty clear — over and over and over.
The New York Times reported: &#8220;Vance made clear to colleagues he feared losing some of the so-called low-propensity voters, the young men who were not traditional Republicans, but who had voted for the Trump-Vance ticket in 2024. This was an audience tuned into the &#8216;manosphere&#8217; podcasters like Joe Rogan, and it was worrisome that the podcast hosts themselves were now rebelling.&#8221;
And of course, the vice president has recommended that everyone ought to listen to the benighted musings of Theo Von, a double-digit IQ comedian whose discernment is on par with that of a brick.
Vance said a few months ago, “You know, I think if you want a good laugh, I love Theo Von, like he&#8217;s one of my favorite — He&#8217;s just incredible. He&#8217;s got one of these senses of humor where like 30% of the time it goes completely over my head and 70% of the time he&#8217;s the funniest person imaginable. But I think Theo has a good heart. And that&#8217;s one of the reasons why I really like listening to his show.”
So, so, so much great stuff in Theo Von. Here&#8217;s Theo Von with Joe Rogan, rapping on the conspiracy theories:
<blockquote>People are like, we’ll elect the Democrats next time. It&#8217;s like, but it&#8217;s all the same sh*t that has been happening forever. They haven&#8217;t been helping anybody forever. They&#8217;re letting politicians slurp on kids. All of our f*cking money goes to Israel and they&#8217;re using it f*cking genocide people. It&#8217;s like everybody is scared out of their wits right now. It&#8217;s like our religious leaders are afraid to speak out. And it&#8217;s like a time where it&#8217;s like Satan is amongst us and our religious leaders are talking about bullshit. It&#8217;s just like, I don&#8217;t know, man.</blockquote>
The black-pilling. This is what you need more of. You need more of the black-pilling, more of the conspiracies. Here’s more of his drivel:
<blockquote>But I think that this starts to happen. News stories get created, right?  Whether they&#8217;re fictional. Whatever goes on, you don&#8217;t even know a lot of times what&#8217;s news stories. You can send actors out to create a scene. You see a video; you believe it &#8230; then you see movies and stuff come out later about it. So it&#8217;s like you&#8217;re almost creating your own news to, then, make like a based on a real story. You know what I&#8217;m talking about?</blockquote>
This is what you need. You need a guy who tells you that news stories are actually created by actors. That&#8217;s what you really need.
Says the guy who literally acts for a living.
I can see why the vice president is recommending this genius-level talk. It is definitely edifying for the young male population of the United States to listen to people who may be borderline retarded talking about politics.
I think that Vance’s particular strategy is flawed for a couple of particular reasons.
First, you have to build your own coalition. You can&#8217;t just duplicate President Trump&#8217;s. I know the vice president of the United States thinks that if he just keeps Trump&#8217;s coalition, he wins in 2028.
This is wrong and politically stupid. No politician can duplicate the coalition built by another politician. That is not how this works. If you take Donald Trump&#8217;s coalition and you map JD Vance onto that coalition, JD Vance loses participants in literally every area of that coalition. He wins fewer women, fewer Hispanics, fewer blacks, and fewer blue-collar voters.
You can&#8217;t outcompete President Trump with blue-collar white voters; Vance does worse with the manosphere. He wins fewer of everyone.
Second, if you try to follow the people around, remember that they are fickle.
Take Joe Rogan, for example. Trump has been in three elections. Joe Rogan voted for Donald Trump once. He is now endorsing James Talarico for Senate in Texas. The notion that if you go on Joe Rogan’s show and you mirror his conspiratorial musings and black-pill super-hard the way that JD Vance actually did on Joe Rogan’s show, that all the &#8220;Joe Rogan voters&#8221; will end up with you is silly. People can change their minds.
Joe Rogan is fickle. Theo Von is fickle. All these people are fickle because they don&#8217;t have any consistent worldview.
Thus, if you just try to follow them around, there&#8217;s a very good shot they will run away from you, just on a pragmatic level.
Third, successful leaders lead, and the coalitions follow in their wake. Politicians who tend to pander and chase the crowd do not work.
This is where President Trump is unique. President Trump doesn&#8217;t go on Joe Rogan and mirror what Joe Rogan is saying. President Trump says whatever President Trump wants to say, and then whoever follows him wants to follow him. That&#8217;s how it works.
Trump is the same dude everywhere. He doesn&#8217;t change what he is saying whether he&#8217;s on Joe Rogan, Theo Von, my show, or anyone else’s.
Fourth, and most importantly, it is immoral and wrong as a leader to forego truth in favor of popularity. I know sticking to the truth has fallen out of favor. We&#8217;re supposed to just believe that our politicians’  job is to chase the people around with a butterfly net.
That is wrong. It is politically stupid, and it is also morally wrong.
There are a bunch of people purportedly on the Right now who say things like “vox populi, vox dei&#8221; meaning the voice of the people is the voice of God.
That is stupid and nonsense. It actually comes from an eighth-century letter to Charlemagne, in which the author called that idea and crowds following crowds around “madness.”
It turns out that people are often wrong. This is why we have a Constitution. You wouldn&#8217;t need a Constitution if the people were awesome all the time.
Our founders feared and despised the mob. They wanted a Constitution because they knew certain rights had to be off-limits, so the people could not run roughshod over them.
That&#8217;s why checks and balances exist. That is why they&#8217;re still there today, after the last century and a half.
But we, in all our great wisdom, decided to dismantle many of those checks and balances in pursuit of a far more activist and centralized government that does things, but then has some pretty bad side effects.
I believe that the truth always wins eventually, because reality always wins.
But the key word there is “eventually.” I get the logic as to why politicians pander and why they lie, and why they always follow the people around with the butterfly net — why they&#8217;re always chasing the parade.
This has always been true. There is nothing new about this. This is what demagoguery is.
But if you try to follow the people, you likely won&#8217;t catch up with them, especially if what you&#8217;re doing as a Republican is just pitching a softer version of what Democrats are hard-selling.
Even if you do win on that platform, you&#8217;ll lose the country, because running that car toward the cliff at 60 mph is only marginally better than running that car at the cliff at 90 mph.

Many conservatives have regarded Kim Strassel of the Wall Street Journal as one of the sharper and more reliable columnists on the right. In recent months, however, she appears to have contracted a sudden and acute case of Vance Derangement – VD, for short. It is a condition that looks remarkably similar to the Trump Derangement Syndrome that afflicted so many in 2016 and the years that followed. The difference is that some of those people now find it safer and more convenient to aim their fire at the vice president rather than at the president whose agenda he is working diligently to advance.
The latest episode began with a simple factual error. Strassel criticized Vice President Vance for missing a meeting on Capitol Hill shortly before his wife, Usha, gave birth to their fourth child. The criticism was misplaced on its face. Yet instead of course correcting, she redoubled the attacks — and in a recent column, unveiled an imaginative new smear: that Vance is an “anticapitalist.”
Readers looking for evidence to support so serious a charge will search in vain. Strassel offers none. The label appears entirely pretextual. One is left with the impression that she may simply have taken offense at the vice president’s recent, laudatory remarks of America’s first Treasury Secretary, Alexander Hamilton, the central architect of the nation’s commercial system. Whatever the motive, the accusation is empty.
More importantly, the charge is refuted by Vance’s actual record. Outside of President Trump himself, no one was more instrumental in the passage and public promotion of the landmark One Big Beautiful Bill. For the better part of a year, the vice president has been on the road and in the media making the case for the tax relief the OBBB delivers to working families, and for the sweeping reductions it imposes on federal red tape and bureaucracy. It is curious that Strassel — who has repeatedly praised elements of the law, including its reforms to the federal estate tax — would overlook this central fact.
Strassel also ignores evidence of Vance’s years in the United States Senate. As a useful point of contrast, last year the Club for Growth — hardly a Leninist front organization — presented then-Senator Vance with its Defender of Economic Freedom Award. The recognition went to only eight of his colleagues. The award is based on the Club’s scorecard, which grades members according to their votes for tax cuts, reductions in the size of the federal government, and regulatory reform, among other criteria. (Spoiler alert: then-Senator Vance received a perfect 100 percent rating in 2024.)
There was, to be sure, genuine philosophical differences between Vance and some of the editorial writers at the Wall Street Journal during the Biden years, particularly regarding federal spending. Unlike most of his Republican colleagues, then-Senator Vance repeatedly voted against the large federal spending bills that came to the floor. He was accurately described at the time as a “skeptic of government spending overall” who shunned earmarks and other pork. He also consistently opposed the massively expensive foreign aid supplemental packages, including the Biden administration’s $95 billion measure — a package the Journal’s editorial page enthusiastically supported throughout the winter of 2023-2024.
That record is not the mark of an anticapitalist. It is the mark of a conservative who takes wasteful spending and limited government seriously.
In fairness, the Wall Street Journal editorial page has a long history of ridiculing conservatives who refuse to read from corporate America’s approved script. It did so with the Tea Party movement a decade and a half ago, and it has done so with the MAGA movement more recently. Historically, the editorial page has elevated business convenience above the interests of American families — whether on the question of open borders that supply cheap labor or on runaway spending justified under the banner of defense needs. It should therefore come as no surprise that some on the page blanche at the Trump administration’s insistence on placing American workers at the center of economic policy.
The same pattern appears on trade. The Journal has made abundantly clear its view that tariffs reduce economic efficiency and violate the sanctity of the free market. That is a charge President Trump and Vice President Vance would both rightly dismiss. Free markets do not require a nation to surrender its industrial base or its working families to the lowest global bidder. Sound economic policy has always balanced openness with the preservation of national strength and the economic security of American families — a foundational principle shared by everyone from Alexander Hamilton to Abraham Lincoln.
Strassel’s attempt to attach the &#8220;anticapitalist&#8221; label to Vance will not stick. It is a classic case of the lady protesting too much. The more the Wall Street Journal editorial board resorts to these strained and unsupported attacks, the more it risks exhausting the patience of the remaining readers who look to it for serious conservative analysis. Conservatives can disagree on tactics and emphasis. What we cannot afford is the substitution of empty smears for honest engagement with the actual record and the principles at stake.

Honest debate within the political Right requires the populist critics of traditional conservatism and free markets to stop hiding behind vague “common good” terminology and state in plain English what they want the government to do.
If “common good” economic policy means lower taxes and less regulation, I’m for it. If it means higher taxes and heavy regulation, I’m against it.
Unfortunately, leading populist think tankers and politicians have made it clear they want to raise taxes on American households.
Oren Cass, the founder and “Chief Economist” of American Compass, recently laid out a <a href="https://atr.org/oren-cass-calls-for-trillions-in-new-tax-increases/">$5 trillion laundry list</a> of tax increases on individuals and businesses, including a payroll tax hike on all Americans earning over $185,000.
Cass, whose organization runs the <a href="https://americancompass.org/announcing-the-common-good-economics-grant-program/">Common Good Economics</a> grant program, is an influential voice in populist circles. American Compass was <a href="https://www.commonplace.org/about">dubbed</a> “the cutting edge of populist economic and cultural thinking” by Steve Bannon. Vice President JD Vance referred to Cass as “a friend,” and a “very fascinating guy” during his recent <a href="https://podcasts.happyscribe.com/the-joe-rogan-experience/2526-jd-vance">interview</a> on “The Joe Rogan Experience.”
During an appearance on the “<a href="https://ricochet.com/podcast/conservative-crossroads-with-henry-olsen/should-conservatives-raise-taxes/">Conservative Crossroads</a>” podcast released last week, Cass backed new tax increases and the reversal of key provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), President Trump’s signature legislative achievement.
Specifically, Cass called to “take the top couple of [individual] rates back up to where they were before TCJA,” and to hike “the corporate rate back up to 25 percent.”
Raising the top income tax rate to the pre-Trump level of 39.6% was Kamala Harris’s and Joe Biden’s campaign position. Cass thought they didn’t go far enough and would raise the “top couple of rates.” This is a tax hike on people who make things – the small and mid-sized businesses that file their taxes on the individual side of the tax code and employ over 60% of the nation’s workforce. This includes the manufacturers, welders, builders, metalworkers, contractors, etc., who, in 2025, wrote a <a href="https://atr.org/90-manufacturing-machinist-builders-and-contractors-groups-oppose-any-effort-to-increase-tax-rates/">letter</a> to Republican lawmakers urging them to oppose “any effort to increase income tax rates.” The Republicans listened and made the Trump individual rates permanent law.
Cass’s proposed corporate rate hike is a tax increase on American workers. The corporate income tax is how Democrats hide the ball on who pays taxes. According to the <a href="https://taxfoundation.org/labor-bears-corporate-tax/">Tax Foundation</a>, workers bear an estimated 70% of the corporate income tax in the form of lower wages. The Cass plan would also hamstring American competition with China, imposing a combined federal-state tax rate of 29%, higher than China’s conventional 25% rate and its preferred 15% corporate tax rate on companies deemed “high and new technology enterprises.”
After calling to reverse the Trump tax cuts, Cass went on to endorse Elizabeth Warren’s $800 billion financial transaction tax, a key pillar of her anti-Wall Street <a href="https://medium.com/@teamwarren/ending-the-stranglehold-of-health-care-costs-on-american-families-bf8286b13086">tax plan</a> during her failed presidential campaign.
Cass topped off his tax hike wish list by calling to uncap the Social Security payroll tax, currently capped at roughly $185,000, raising taxes on millions of taxpayers.
Alarmingly, at least one Republican Senator has already followed Cass’s advice to hike payroll taxes.
In June, Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio), a self-styled <a href="https://spectrumnews1.com/oh/columbus/news/2024/02/24/ohio-senate-bernie-moreno">populist Republican</a>, joined Elizabeth Warren in a New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/23/opinion/moreno-warren-social-security.html">op-ed</a> announcing they would soon be introducing legislation to fully eliminate the payroll tax cap, which they themselves label a $3 trillion tax increase.
Eliminating the payroll tax cap would <a href="https://atr.org/bernie-moreno-not-sanders-joins-elizabeth-warren-to-impose-56-percent-tax-rate-on-ohio-small-businesses/">impose</a> a 56% combined top rate on small and midsize businesses in Ohio. It would shrink the U.S. economy by 1.2% and kill 1.3 million jobs.
The Moreno-Warren plan faced widespread <a href="https://atr.org/no-conservative-support-for-bernie-morenos-giant-tax-increase/">backlash</a> from conservatives, including opposition from the Heritage Foundation, Club for Growth, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and even Moreno’s fellow Republican Senator from Ohio, John Husted, who is currently running to keep his seat.
Even Hillary Clinton previously <a href="https://x.com/johnkartch/status/2069470615866896527?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E2069470615866896527%7Ctwgr%5E32e32a9355a495af121e09088fabc174aa75d144%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fatr.org%2Fbernie-moreno-not-sanders-joins-elizabeth-warren-to-impose-56-percent-tax-rate-on-ohio-small-businesses%2F">opposed</a> lifting the payroll tax cap, pointing out that it would raise taxes on “police officers, firefighters and the like.” Cass, however, <a href="https://www.commonplace.org/p/cutting-bait-on-a-bad-war">endorsed</a> the Moreno payroll tax hike specifically for pushing Republicans “toward an approach that puts revenue on the table.”
Facing stiff conservative opposition, six weeks have now gone by without Moreno introducing an actual bill. Moreno might have let Cass walk him into traffic by raising taxes, but other Republicans and conservatives should learn from this mistake and stay far away.
Raising taxes is a betrayal of core conservative principles. No one on the Right should endorse the idea that the government is entitled to 50% of any dollar any American earns. You can&#8217;t slap a &#8220;common good&#8221; label on the same policies Elizabeth Warren has pushed since arriving in the Senate and call it conservative.
Across the country, Republicans are campaigning this cycle on the Trump tax cuts. At the <a href="https://atr.org/taxmap/">state level</a>, 12 Republican-run states cut income taxes last year, and 26 states have passed legislation enacting either a zero or flat income tax rate. <a href="https://thehill.com/business/5826304-americans-poll-taxes-high/">Six in 10 Americans</a> say they pay too much in taxes and only 3% say they pay too little.
It seems the “populist” Right still has some work to do selling their tax hikes to the public. They can count me out.

After 11 frustrating years of losing intramural conservative debates, the pre-MAGA, Never-Trump Washington Right has finally found an opponent worthy of its intellectual firepower: imaginary congressional staff assistants.
That’s the cringey truth behind Politico Magazine’s recent &#8220;<a href="https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2026/08/01/heritage-foundation-young-republicans-groypers-hiring-01006937">exposé</a>&#8220;: “GOP Staffers Say the Party Has a Groyper Problem.” Nothing in the article’s 2,300 words remotely supports the headline’s assertion, let alone the bizarre anti-JD Vance smear campaign orchestrated in its wake.
The real story here isn’t about young conservatives at all, but the vindictiveness of self-important policy wonks they no longer listen to.
For the 99% of Americans blessedly ignorant of the term, “groyper” refers to the antisemitic, misogynistic, white-identitarian followers of Gen-Z internet performance artist Nick Fuentes. The corporate media and the establishment Right have desperately tried to link the odious Fuentes to Donald Trump’s MAGA movement. But both sides refuse to cooperate.
Fuentes hates Trump for being too friendly to Israel. He hates Vance because his wife Usha is of Indian descent and his children are biracial. The feeling is mutual. Trump and Vance have both publicly rejected antisemitism. Vance has <a href="https://unherd.com/2025/12/full-transcript-jd-vance-on-american-identity/?edition=us">gone further</a>, telling off Fuentes directly and declaring that antisemitism and ethnic hatred have no place in the conservative movement.
As someone who works with congressional and administration staff every week, I know firsthand that the mutual disdain between MAGA patriots and groyper losers is reflected in hiring decisions on both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue. (The only groyper I have ever encountered couldn’t get a job in Donald Trump’s Washington.) Even the article that ignited last week’s moral panic acknowledged that the “true scale” of the groyper problem could be “negligible.”
So where did Politico get the idea that “the GOP’s young D.C. professional class” is crawling with “groypers”? According to the article, from four sources: an “anonymous conservative,” an anonymous “senior GOP congressional staffer,” a college professor with no apparent connection to Capitol Hill or the Trump administration, and a former Heritage Foundation scholar angry that the famously pro-life institution wants their interns to be pro-life. If that seems thin evidence to smear an entire generation of honest, idealistic conservative professionals as bigots, wait ’til you see how they try to square the circle.
Among Politico’s “GOP Staffers” who allege this “groyper problem,” you see, a “groyper” doesn’t have to be an actual antisemitic, white nationalist Fuentesite freak. No, the term “is also used as a catch-all term of abuse for young, anti-establishment” conservatives. To Washington’s Establishment and some on the libertarian Right, dissatisfaction with Republican elites’ 21st-century economic, foreign, and domestic policy failures — a dissatisfaction shared by <a href="https://yougov.com/en-us/articles/53800-distrust-elites-experts-establishment-widespread-among-americans-december-26-29-2025-economist-yougov-poll">roughly 90%</a> of the American people — makes someone a racist, antisemitic monster.
There is no polite rebuttal to this disgraceful rhetorical gambit other than to say: thank God Donald Trump kicked these people to the curb.
Of course, that’s what this is really about.
Within hours of the Politico article’s publication, social media trolls were tying the GOP’s phantom “groyper problem” to Vice President Vance, whom they hate almost as much as real groypers do. Trump’s victory and Vance’s ascendance have fundamentally changed the Right over the last decade. One of those changes has been the marginalization of once-influential policy “experts.”
The Groyper Gambit is an attempt by the old corporate-globalist-neoconservative GOP to win back the party they fumbled — not by persuading dissenters but by declaring dissent to be illegitimate.
James Lindsay, once-feted anti-woke academic, called Vance-aligned conservatives &#8220;<a href="https://x.com/ConceptualJames/status/2083940423429496834?s=20">little sh*ts</a>&#8221; and blamed a phantom “Groyper infestation of D.C.” <a href="https://x.com/ConceptualJames/status/2083935970324348960">on Vance directly</a>. Phil Magness of the libertarian Independent Institute accused a conservative law student of being &#8220;<a href="https://x.com/rachelbovard/status/2082992685204344904?s=20">groyper curious</a>&#8221; because he was Catholic and a Vance supporter.
This is the tell. Critics of JD Vance would rather traffic in outrageous labels — “groyper,” “socialist,” “authoritarian” — than debate the underlying issues, because those issues are broadly supported and politically potent. Arguing against them on the merits is a losing proposition. Pathologizing the people who hold them is easier.
Robust policy and political disagreement within the Right is fine and to be expected. Turning differences of degree into existential accusations, or dismissing ideas like stronger antitrust enforcement as “socialism,” is absurd and deliberate. You can dislike and disagree with JD Vance all you want. Suggesting he is a groyper is simply a lie – and a cowardly one, at that.
The crux of the controversy is that Vance’s pro-family, “common good” conservatism and vital-interest-oriented foreign policy are popular. They are shared, in one form or another, by every young national star in the GOP, from Secretary of State <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4vtkUnR_gs">Marco Rubio</a> to Florida Governor <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWHOKm2Lmfs">Ron DeSantis</a>. They are also enthusiastically supported by almost every young Republican staffer in Washington.
And with good reason. Patriotic young conservatives who came of age in the Trump Era spent 18 years in schools run by woke-era DEI Marxists. They know the New Left hates America as much as groypers hate Vance. They came to Washington, D.C. to save the country and to build a new Republican Party that understands the stakes of the fight, and how to win it.
Yes, conservative staffers today are different. They know the old GOP dispensation’s ideas, leaders, and policy wonks had their chance, failed, and are not up to the task ahead.
The young professionals I work with every day are decent, principled, patriotic public servants. They make me optimistic about the future of the Right — never more so than when contrasted with the gutter behavior of the bitter “grownups” who smear them for clicks.

Never Vancers’ Disgraceful Groyper Gambit

President Donald Trump on Thursday downplayed a report suggesting he had already settled on Vice President JD Vance as his preferred successor to carry his MAGA movement forward. 
<a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2026/08/06/trump-tells-donors-we-need-elect-jd-vp-weighs-his-future/">The Washington Post</a> reported Thursday that Trump has privately encouraged donors to support Vance&#8217;s future presidential ambitions, citing anonymous sources familiar with the conversations. 
“At the end of the day, we need to elect JD,” Trump reportedly told donors during an Oval Office meeting two weeks ago, according to the report. 
The outlet also cited six additional “Trumpworld advisors” who anonymously said they did not believe a Vance endorsement was a done deal.
“Anyone assuming it’s a lock is just getting way ahead of themselves, or just doesn’t know the president very well,” one Trump administration official told The Post. 
Hours later in the Oval Office, The Daily Caller’s Reagan Reese posed the question to Trump directly. 
“No. I heard about it a little while ago. I think he&#8217;s great,” Trump <a href="https://x.com/Acyn/status/2085462419598614610?s=20">said</a> of Vance. “We&#8217;re way too early to even be thinking about that.”  
The Post reported that Trump has grown increasingly impressed with Vance&#8217;s performance as vice president, highlighting his role in brokering the Iran ceasefire that later collapsed, leading a federal task force targeting fraud, and entering the media lion&#8217;s den to promote his book and Catholic conversion.
Vance has not publicly confirmed whether he plans to run for president. Some early polling suggests Vance is the frontrunner, though other potential contenders have gained ground.
After the vice president, Secretary of State Marco Rubio polls the strongest among Republican primary voters, according to the most recent survey data.  A New Hampshire poll released in July showed support for Vance slipping significantly in the Granite State. About 36% of likely GOP primary voters backed Vance, down sharply from 53% in February. Rubio appeared to capitalize on the shift, more than tripling his support from 7% to 26%, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-new-2028-poll-just-shook-up-both-parties">The Daily Wire reported. </a>
While Vance&#8217;s support has softened in some early-state polling, he continues to lead nationally. The <a href="https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/president/republican-primary/2028/national">RealClearPolitics </a>polling average still shows Vance with a commanding 18.2-point national lead over a hypothetical field of Republican rivals, including Rubio, Donald Trump Jr., Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, and HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Speculation about Trump&#8217;s eventual endorsement has also been fueled by divisions within the conservative movement over U.S. policy toward Iran. In a Wednesday <a href="https://x.com/Acyn/status/2085148515593064844?s=20">interview</a> with FOX News, Vance denied any daylight with the president over foreign policy. 
“The president runs this administration. He is the very top of the administration. He makes orders. We, of course, have debates and conversations about what exactly we should do. But when the president of the United States makes a decision, we are unified in this administration in carrying out that mission,” Vance said.

WASHINGTON — The White House is launching a website dedicated to exposing the fraud that Vice President JD Vance&#8217;s task force has uncovered, The Daily Wire can first report.
The new site, &#8220;<a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/fraud/">The Fraud Ledger</a>,&#8221; will highlight the successes of the &#8220;Task Force to Eliminate Fraud,&#8221; specifically focusing on the three values that the task force solicited from each partner agency: fraud uncovered, fraud stopped, and fraud enforcement.
It is designed to be a &#8220;public record of the fraud, waste, and corruption identified&#8221; by the task force since January 2025.
“President Trump is waging an all-out war on fraud, shutting down billions of dollars in taxpayer theft,&#8221; White House spokeswoman Olivia Wales told The Daily Wire. &#8220;Democrats have refused to stop this epidemic of fraud. The Trump Administration is holding these criminals accountable and ensuring key federal programs remain viable for the Americans they were meant to support.”

&#8220;Fraud uncovered&#8221; refers to estimates of total fraud that the agencies uncovered, using data and statistical methods, &#8220;fraud stopped&#8221; refers real dollars per year that were not spent due to the administration&#8217;s actions, and &#8220;fraud enforcement&#8221; refers to the money related to indictments, settlements, or civil monetary penalties.
Since January 2025, the task force has uncovered $229.9 billion, according to the website. The task force has stopped $56.4 billion in annual fraud, and enforced $55.5 billion in fraud through indictments and settlements.
Medicaid fraud deferrals top the list of the task force&#8217;s highest impact anti-fraud actions — according to the new website, the Center for Medicaid Services deferred over $2 billion from California and $500 million from Minnesota.
The Small Business Administration had the most total estimated fraud uncovered, coming in at a whopping $122.9 billion. Health and Human Services followed closely with $96.2 billion in uncovered fraud, and the Department of Labor came next at $7 billion.
The move comes on the heels of Vance&#8217;s latest fraud announcements, made Wednesday in Washington, D.C. Vance shared the latest fraud numbers that his team had uncovered since the task force launched, and he called on Congress to help combat fraud by codifying anti-fraud measures into law.
“The Vice President is taking a whole of government approach to fighting fraud,&#8221; a spokesman for the vice president shared. &#8220;That includes working with Congress to codify common sense anti-fraud measures to ensure that fraudsters and people who take advantage of the American people’s generosity are brought to justice for future generations, not just under the Trump Administration.”

Once the radical vanguard of an ascendant local food culture, backyard chickens have become common enough to be effectively conventional. Countless people from all walks of life have had backyard flocks. It is no longer strange to hear gentle clucking from the other side of a privacy fence while on your Sunday walk in your suburban neighborhood. Everyone has seen the green Araucana eggs. We’re all familiar with the same 10 or 12 names everyone gives their chickens: Henrietta, Dorothy, Pecky, Elvis, Red.
Backyard chickens are a bipartisan affair. In a long era of near-total polarization, the issue has been propelled by what George Washington called “joint counsels and joint efforts.” Left-wing foodies and Right-wing traditionalists are united on the chicken question, at least in practice. The former might see a backyard flock as an anarchic strike against a capitalist food system; the latter could view it as a return to a home-and-hearth normalcy. Neither is technically wrong, which ultimately amounts to saying that motives don’t really matter. A backyard chicken flock is just a nice thing to have either way.
So it was a happy thing to see Vice President JD Vance’s family <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-jd-vance-is-installing-a-maha-staple-at-the-veeps-residence">come into the backyard chicken movement earlier this year</a> by building a coop at their Washington, D.C. home. The Second Family spared no expense: Their sprawling chicken coop cost as much as $120,000 and was built to reflect the architecture of the Naval Observatory, the vice president’s official residence.
For those of us backyard chicken farmers who build coops out of old plywood and scraps of 2-by-4, the setup seemed positively luxurious (to the chickens themselves it must seem like Versailles). But the Vance family’s heart was in the right place, and, in any event, the coop cost taxpayers nothing, so who could complain?
Well. Last month, the Washington Post ran what can only be described as a <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/food/2026/07/07/vances-added-chicken-coop-vice-presidents-residence-we-had-questions/">searing exposé</a> on the vice-presidential chicken coop. “Who will be raising the hens at the Naval Observatory?” the paper asked. “And why are the Vances taking on this project?” Vital questions, to be sure.
The paper consulted “former and current backyard chicken keepers” in order to “gather insights on what may be going on at Number One Observatory Circle.” The outlet said one “possible reason” the Vances opted to raise their own chickens was to eat the eggs they lay. It’s certainly possible!
The paper also speculated about possible “political motivations” behind the backyard flock, including implying that the Vances might be adhering to the ultra-conservative, ultra-online “trad” lifestyle, of which raising one’s own chickens is often a part.
Not everyone, thankfully, has such insidious far-right motives. The Post cited one Utah-based chicken farmer who goes by “they/them” pronouns, who views chickens “almost as emotional support animals,” and who will sometimes “cuddle up” with a chicken after a bad day. “You wouldn’t think a chicken could be such a comfort,” this amateur chicken farmer told the paper. (Surely the chicken being cuddled would agree.)
Let us stipulate something important: None of this is really reflective of what is ultimately the unremarkable and historically normal practice of keeping a small flock of chickens in your backyard. Most of us can’t afford a six-figure chicken coop. Fewer of us are adherents of the trad aesthetic, which is mercifully on the decline. And only a vanishing minority of us would ever attempt to cuddle a chicken, and even then probably only once.
At their best, chickens are thankfully not political tools or social statements; they are neither “emotional support animals” nor signifiers of a “trad” custom. Like all domesticated animals, they can be an incredibly useful part of a domestic repertoire. They recycle food scraps and turn them into eggs. They can help build compost for your garden. They’re quirky and at times hilarious to watch as they run around your yard looking like a cross between a Weeble-Wobble and a dinosaur. In short, they can be a wonderful component of what the farmer Joel Salatin calls “the wisest of wise traditions.”
There’s nothing inherently flashy or glamorous about raising backyard chickens. You don’t need a Cadillac of a chicken coop, and you don’t need to treat them as an internet lifestyle choice; they can just be a part of your life as they’ve been part of the lives of countless homeowners throughout history, taking part in a redemptive and normal ecological arrangement that benefits everyone.
Of course, if you don’t want backyard chickens, you don’t have to feel bad about not having them, either. It’s up to you. Just, whatever you do, please don’t try to cuddle them. It won’t end well.

A new <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2026/07/29/views-number-conservative-guests-swells-5-compared-87">NewsBusters study</a>, out this week, shows just how bad <a href="https://cdn.mrc.org/static/pdfuploads/The%20View%20Season%2029%20Guest%20Count.pdf-1785189121072.pdf">the disparity</a> was between which views “The View” allowed to be shared with their audience.
According to an examination of all 321 guests “The View” spoke with during their 29th season (September 8, 2025 to July 24, 2026), 87 of them expressed liberal opinions while only five expressed a conservative opinion.
Breaking down those numbers further, 16 of the liberal guests were Democratic politicians, both active and former. Additionally, they spoke with two of the liberal U.S. Supreme Court justices, Sonia Sotomayor (their first guest of the season) and Ketanji Brown Jackson, as well as former White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
Then there’s the conservative side of the data.
In addition to the highly publicized appearance of Vice President JD Vance on June 16 (the last time they spoke to a conservative), they also had on L.A. mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt, actress Cheryl Hines, and former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene.
At the time, Sunny Hostin commended Pratt’s candidacy by saying, “You are going to do so much.” That was before they <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2026/05/14/whoopi-wildfire-victim-pratt-shouldnt-be-passing-judgment">turned against him</a>.
The conversation they had with Hines was less about her and more about using her as a punching bag in lieu of her husband, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Greene seemed to be their favorite guest since they had her on three times over the course of the season. Only one of her appearances counted as a conservative appearance since the other two featured her bashing the rest of the party and pushing liberal talking points.
It says a lot about “The View” that Greene met the “<a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2025/11/07/view-conservatives-dont-live-our-certain-caliber-guest">certain caliber of guest</a>” they insisted they would only speak to.
As a way of writing off most conservative writers and thought leaders, “The View” has publicly said they only want to speak with the people they talk about on the show. But that’s a lie.
In the spring of 2026, “The View” targeted and smeared The Daily Wire’s Isabel Brown for her CPAC comments encouraging women to get married and have kids. One co-host even suggested Brown was in an abusive marriage.
When Brown reached out and requested an appearance so they could have a rational conversation, “The View” <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2026/04/03/view-continues-smear-isabel-brown-encouraging-marriage-kids">rejected the request and lied to her</a> about being all booked up. Meanwhile, they continued to attack and smear her on their podcast.
The real reason “The View” doesn’t like bringing on conservatives is because they’re the ones who are afraid. They’re afraid of being called out and having their farces exposed. Alyssa Farah Griffin <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2025/11/12/view-whines-about-guests-trashing-show-after-dealing-them">admitted as much</a> on their podcast when she said they don’t like “when people want to come on to, like, have a moment.”
Translation: We don’t want viral moments that embarrass us.

If people were surprised to see Vice President JD Vance as a guest on ABC&#8217;s &#8220;The View,&#8221; that is likely because the show typically skews far to the Left — both in its regular hosts and the guests invited to join the table.
Data provided to The Daily Wire by The Media Research Center only serves to underscore that point, as a recent study conducted by the MRC revealed that &#8220;The View&#8221; booked 87 liberal guests and just five conservative guests — meaning the show booked 17.4 times more liberals than conservatives.
&#8220;&#8216;The View’s&#8217; 87-5 guest ratio proves the show is not diverse at all. It’s a Democrat Socialist Party infomercial,&#8221; MRC President David Bozell said.
The data was compiled over the course of the midday talk show&#8217;s 29th season — which ran from September 8, 2025, through July 24, 2026 — and evaluated only the guests who specifically spoke about politics in one direction or the other.
The five &#8220;conservative&#8221; guests were Cheryl Hines (wife of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.), former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), former reality star and Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt, attorney Alina Habba, and Vice President JD Vance.
The liberal guests — in addition to a number of celebrities who discuss political issues — included but were not limited to: New York City&#8217;s Democratic socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), Democratic Senate nominee James Talarico (also from Texas), Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT), former First Lady Jill Biden, Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), and Supreme Court Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson (on separate occasions).
It is also worth noting that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, though listed as a &#8220;conservative&#8221; guest for her appearance on November 4, 2025, also appeared on the &#8220;liberal&#8221; list for her appearances on January 1, 2026, and July 7, 2026.
According to the official stated methodology of the study, &#8220;For a guest to be counted as either liberal or conservative, they needed to express such views during their appearance on &#8216;The View.&#8217; If a celebrity did not discuss politics, they were not included in the count of political leanings even if they had a history of being outspoken in the past. For example, actor Robert De Niro had a history of speaking out against President Trump, but was not included in the liberal count because politics did not come up.&#8221;
Additionally, it was noted that &#8220;conservative&#8221; guest hosts who rotated through while Republican cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin was on maternity leave were not officially considered &#8220;guests&#8221; — nor were the regular hosts, who lean far to the Left — and were thus excluded from the reported numbers.
The study comes as reports swirl about the studio making major cuts — from wardrobe to host salaries — and the show faces an investigation from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) into whether or not it qualifies as a &#8220;bona fide news program&#8221; and is thus exempt from &#8220;equal time&#8221; political broadcast requirements.
The network has argued that a 2002 ruling declaring the show a &#8220;news&#8221; program should stand, adding that &#8220;nothing about ‘The View’ that the law cares about has changed since the Commission last answered that question more than two decades ago. … What has changed is not the program but the political climate around it.&#8221;
The network also pushed back on FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, complaining that his focus has been unfairly directed toward daytime and evening television programming &#8220;perceived as unfriendly to the current administration — while leaving untouched the vast landscape of talk radio, where candidates routinely appear without their opponents.&#8221;
The FCC responded to that criticism in a statement given to The Associated Press, saying, &#8220;While ABC insists that ‘The View’ is a ‘bona fide news program’ under the law, ABC should focus on complying with its public-interest obligations, rather than misleading the public about them.&#8221;
