Burns and other Left-wing celebrities have been bemoaning Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and his decision to send two charter flights laden with migrants to the tony Massachusetts enclave. It’s part of a strategy by DeSantis and fellow Republican governors Greg Abbott, of Texas, and Doug Ducey, of Arizona, to spread the strain caused by Democrats’ border policies to the blue states that support them.
CNN “New Day”co- host John Berman asked Burns, who was on to discuss his new Holocaust documentary, if DeSantis’s action was reminiscent to Nazism. Although Berman assured viewers he wasn’t suggesting “a parallel in any way,” he said it did contain some of “the same themes.” The woke filmmaker took the bait.
“It’s the abstraction of human life,” Burns said. “If you can use a human life, that is as valuable as yours or mine … and put it in the position of becoming a political pawn in someone’s authoritarian game, this is straight out of the authoritarian playbook.
For hundreds of years, Martha’s Vineyard has suffered from the soul-crushing effects of its own whiteness. Island residents understood there was only one cure. They badly needed diversity.

“What’s so disturbing about DeSantis is to use human beings, to weaponize human beings for a political purpose,” he added.
The GOP governors say their states are inundated with migrants, Texas and Arizona due to their borders and Florida because the Biden administration has been flying them to the Sunshine State. Since Biden took office and rescinded border security policies, an estimated 2 million or more migrants have crossed over from Mexico. Since cities in blue states such as Massachusetts, Illinois, and New York, as well as Washington, D.C., have deemed themselves sanctuaries for illegal immigrants, the Republicans claim migrants are better off in them.
Burns’ comparison to the Holocaust, however qualified it was, was too much for Carlson, who compared images of U.S. border towns overrun with illegal immigrants to the swank and serene island, where the Obamas have a 29-acre surfside mansion.
“Everything is relative,” Carlson said sarcastically on his top-rated cable news show. “Martha’s Vineyard may be a modern-day death camp, but compared to where illegal aliens usually go, it doesn’t look that bad.”
Hours after the DeSantis-dispatched planes dropped 50 illegal immigrants off in Martha’s Vineyard, two buses sent by Abbott from Del Rio, Texas, discharged as many as 100 migrants in front of Vice President Kamala Harris’ official residence.
Abbott’s office claims more than 7,700 migrants have been dropped off in Washington and more than 2,100 in New York since April. The state has spent an estimated $12 million chartering the buses.
Democrat leaders, including Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser, and New York Mayor Eric Adams, who have all supported the administration’s border policies, have decried the busing tactic and said their cities and states cannot absorb the influx of migrants.
