Former President Donald Trump (R) attacked New Hampshire’s Republican U.S. Senate nominee Don Bolduc on Wednesday for losing in Tuesday’s midterm election, which comes after Trump previously endorsed Bolduc.
Trump specifically attacked Bolduc, a retired U.S. Army brigadier general, for not promoting election conspiracy theories that Trump has repeatedly promoted over the last two years despite having no evidence to back up his claims.
The Trump campaign filed 62 lawsuits in courts throughout the U.S. challenging the results of the 2020 election and 61 of the lawsuits were thrown out of court due to a lack of evidence or lack of standing. The one lawsuit where the campaign was successful was in Pennsylvania where a judge said that “voters could not go back and ‘cure’ their ballots if they failed to provide proper identification three days after the election,” USA Today reports.
“Don Bolduc was a very nice guy, but he lost tonight when he disavowed, after his big primary win, his long-standing stance on Election Fraud in the 2020 Presidential Primary,” Trump said. “Had he stayed strong and true, he would have won, easily. Lesson Learned!!”
The truth is, Bolduc was a weak candidate as he lost by 8.8 points.
On the contrary, Republican New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, who has never embraced Trump’s election conspiracy theories, dominated in his re-election bid, winning by 15.8 points.
Trump’s attack on Bolduc comes after he cheered Republicans losing a key U.S. Senate race on Tuesday.
“Joe O’Dea lost BIG!” Trump said. “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”
O’Dea lost to incumbent U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO) in a race that had grown unexpectedly close in recent days with the RealClearPolitics average recently indicating that the race had moved from “lean Democrat” to “toss up.”
Reporter Alex Roarty noted how Trump had approached the race vs. how Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) approached the race. “Going to be a topic of conversation moving forward that Trump told his supporters not to vote for O’Dea — while DeSantis recorded a robo-call for him,” Roarty tweeted.
Trump also spent the final days leading up to the midterm elections attacking the person who ended up becoming the star of the night: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R).
Trump tried mocking him at a rally, which backfired, so then Trump threatened DeSantis, saying that if he jumped into the 2024 presidential election, he would release damaging information on DeSantis.
