The Chosen” star Jonathan Roumie had a hilarious reaction to the news that his new faith-based movie “Jesus Revolution” landed in the top 3 spot at the box office over the weekend.

In a post shared on Facebook by the 48-year-old actor, Roumie shared a screenshot of an article by Deadline magazine that read, “‘Quantamania’ Worst Drop For A Marvel Movie, ‘Cocaine Bear’ Very High On $21 Million And ‘Jesus Revolution’ Praises $14 Million + Saturday Box Office.”

He captioned his post, “We’re gaining on the [bear emoji] [crying face emoji.] Room for everyone at the table this weekend.”

KFYR TV in Bizmark, ND, later shared an update to Deadline’s box office numbers showing that “Jesus Revolution” ended taking in a total of $15.5 million in its opening weekend, which it reported was more than double what the film was projected.

Roumie’s latest faith-based project is based on “the true story of a national spiritual awakening in the early 1970s and its origins within a community of teenage hippies in Southern California,” per an IMDb description.

Conservative television and movie star Kelsey Grammar joins Roumie in the upcoming movie. Jonathan plays hippie preacher Lonnie Frisbee in the film directed by Jon Erwin. Grammar plays the late Chuck Smith, the pastor who founded the Calvary Chapel movement and mentor to Pastor Greg Laurie.

Produced by Kingdom Story Company and Lionsgate, “Jesus Revolution” centers on Laurie, then a young man, who experienced a spiritual awakening under Smith’s guidance.

Roomie’s last theatrical release for episode 7 and 8 of “The Chosen” Season 3, recently scored an extended theatrical release following overwhelming response from fans over tickets.
