President Joe Biden Had Cancerous Tissue Removed, White House Doctor Reveals

President Joe Biden’s doctor revealed on Friday that the president had cancerous tissue removed in February as part of a physical.

Biden’s doctor, Kevin O’Connor, said in a memo sent to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre that the president had a “skin lesion removed from his chest” at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center last month that was cancerous.

“As expected, the biopsy confirmed that the small lesion was basal cell carcinoma. All cancerous tissue was successfully removed. The area around the biopsy site was treated presumptively with electrodesiccation and curettage at the time of biopsy. No further treatment is required,” O’Connor said. 

According to O’Connor, basal cell carcinoma does not spread but can grow, meaning it could become difficult to remove. He added that Biden would continue to be under dermatological surveillance. 

Last month, O’Connor said that the physical test conducted on Biden showed that he was fit to serve as president, despite some suggestions from Republicans in Congress that Biden should undergo further cognitive tests. 

“The objective data is not going to be good. They don’t want to get picked apart because it’s not going to be good,” Rep. Ronny Jackson told The New York Post. “They are going to be asked, ‘Did he get a cognitive exam done?’ The answer is going to be no because either they’re not going to do a cognitive exam or they’re going to do one and not let the American people know what the results were.” 

Biden, who has previously had skin cancer removed, created confusion in July when he appeared to say that he currently had cancer.

“I just lived up the road in an apartment complex when we moved to Delaware, and just up the road a little school I went to, Holy Rosary grade school, and because it was a four-lane highway that was accessible, my mother drove us and rather than us be able to walk,” Biden said at an event in Massachusetts. “And guess what? The first frost, you know what was happening, you’d have to put on your windshield wipers to get literally the oil slick off the window.”

“That’s why I and so damn many other people I grew up [with] have cancer, and I why can’t for the longest time, Delaware had the highest cancer rate in the nation,” Biden continued.

The White House later noted that Biden was referring to previous cancer, not current cancer.
