Pop singer Nick Jonas said this Father’s Day he’s planning to celebrate his wife, Priyanka Chopra.
The 30-year-old actor discussed his plans during the premiere of his new film, “The Good Half,” at the Tribeca Film Festival.
“My dad did an incredible job of making sure that everyone else felt loved on Father’s Day, and I’m going to try to adopt that from him,” Jonas told People.
“We as fathers would not be where we are as fathers without incredible women to make that dream come true,” the singer continued. “And I’m so grateful to share this journey with my wife, who’s just an absolute boss and amazing mother.”
“It’s more about her that day than me,” Jonas stated.
Jonas and Chopra married in 2018. They have a daughter, Malti, who was born via surrogate in January 2022. The baby struggled after birth and had to spend 110 days in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit), which the couple was open about on social media. The baby came home just in time for Mother’s Day last year.

“On this Mother’s Day we can’t help but reflect on these last few months and the rollercoaster we’ve been on, which we now know, so many people have also experienced. After 100 plus days in the NICU, our little girl is finally home,” Jonas wrote on Instagram at the time.
He went on to say how “every family’s journey is unique” and while they had a “challenging few months,” they were glad to have their baby safe at home. The singer also thanked the doctors and nurses who had been caring for his daughter during her hospital stay.
The couple has faced backlash for turning to surrogacy to grow their family. Chopra defended the choice, telling British Vogue, “I had medical complications. This was a necessary step, and I’m so grateful I was in a position where I could do this. Our surrogate was so generous, kind, lovely, and funny, and she took care of this precious gift for us for six months.”
“You don’t know me,” Chopra said. “You don’t know what I’ve been through. And just because I don’t want to make my medical history, or my daughter’s, public doesn’t give you the right to make up whatever the reasons were.”
