<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Carly Simon, the songwriter most famous for “You’re So Vain,” revealed to her fans on Monday that she&#8217;s been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“So many people have written to me, kindly wondering about my relative silence, asking how I am and what I have been doing,” Simon wrote in a letter to her audience </span><a href="https://people.com/carly-simon-reveals-parkinsons-disease-cancer-diagnosis-12020645"><span style="font-weight: 400;">obtained</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> by People magazine. “The truth is, I’ve been learning how to live with Parkinson’s disease.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Simon, 83, said the decline in her health first came when arthritis in her knees and hip forced her to get those three joints replaced “with delicate bouquets of metal and plastic.” Her mobility continued to worsen.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Eventually, there were periods when I could not walk without considerable help,” Simon noted. “My family and I knew that something more was going on. After an extensive evaluation at the Mayo Clinic, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Simon explained that she has taken the time to live with the illness.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“There is no tidy or predictable schedule to the illness. It does not consult my calendar before deciding what kind of day I am going to have,” Simon said. “You can find yourself lying there like a starfish drying in the sun, arms pointing in all directions, while nothing inside is telling you to get up, read, watch, write, sing, call someone, or do much of anything at all,” she continued.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I do not consider Parkinson’s a gift or a blessing,” Simon added. “It is neither. It is difficult, frustrating, and sometimes frightening. I am still learning how to live with it and how to accept it without feeling that I have surrendered something essential.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Along with adjusting to life with Parkinson’s, Simon underwent surgery for basal cell carcinoma, a form of skin cancer, on her face.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“The cancer was removed, but the surgery affected my appearance and made me more self-conscious about being seen in public,” she said. “I have always been more critical of my appearance than anyone else could possibly imagine (check out the irony of having written ‘You’re So Vain.’), and this gave my inner critic quite a lot of new material.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Despite all the complications she has faced, Simon has assured her fans, “I have not stopped living, and I have not stopped working.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In her letter, Simon announced her new album, Comes in Waves, her first original full-length album since 2008. It will include fragments of songs that Simon wrote down and tucked away throughout her musical career.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Simon ended her letter thanking her family, friends, and medical staff who have helped her through her medical experiences.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Per sources who spoke with </span><a href="https://deadline.com/2026/07/ed-harris-returning-dutton-ranch-season-2-showrunner-change-1236999568/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Deadline</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, the second season of the popular “Yellowstone” spinoff has already been picked up by the network, and Harris’s character will be part of the story to some degree.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Harris, 75, made headlines earlier this week after going on a rant about how small his role was in the show. He did eventually admit that he thought the series was “pretty good” overall.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Midway through the first season, I was ready to say, ‘get me the f*ck out of here,’ to tell you the truth,” Harris said on the red carpet for Apple TV’s “The Dink.” “I didn’t feel I was being used. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Dutton Ranch” showrunner Chad Feehan left the series ahead of the premiere due to behind-the-scenes friction. The Deadline sources claimed that this was potentially due to how Harris’s character arc was handled, and said the actor was involved in choosing Feehan’s replacement. Paramount+ has not issued any public statements on these claims.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Yellowstone” creator and “Dutton Ranch” executive producer Taylor Sheridan has made it a habit to underutilize big stars. He’s addressed this in the past, saying he’s well aware it can cause controversy. He did the same with Demi Moore on “Landman.”</span></p>

<p>The 75-year-old star plays Everett McKinney, an ally to Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, on the popular “Yellowstone” spinoff show. But he <a href="https://variety.com/2026/tv/news/ed-harris-misled-dutton-ranch-paramount-taylor-sheridan-1236816999/">told</a> Variety he believed the role was going to be more significant, which led to negative feelings.</p>

I just thought, ‘I want my life back.’ I had gotten off the majority of the drugs over the years that they had put me on. But I was like, ‘I want a drug-free life.’”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Once I got off that, I decided I’m going to quit smoking pot. And because I think they put so much stuff in it now — they really do — when I stopped smoking pot, I also got sick,” she added. “It’s not like you’re pulling it out of the ground anymore. It’s not like when we were kids. I got pretty sick for a month. I went to my neurologist, and he said, ‘Sharon, I’ve had people dying in the emergency room from marijuana.’”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Stone previously </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/sharon-stone-said-she-lost-18m-after-her-2001-stroke-people-took-advantage-of-me"><span style="font-weight: 400;">complained</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> that the stroke had cost her millions of dollars and ruined relationships.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;People took advantage of me during that time. I had $18 million saved because of all my success, but when I got back into my bank account, it was all gone. My refrigerator, my phone — everything was in other people’s names,” Stone told The Hollywood Reporter in 2024. “I had zero money,” she added.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The stroke occurred when Stone was 43. The Academy Award nominee noticed her body felt numb, and there was a “terrible pain” in her head. She was diagnosed with a brain bleed and given a 1% chance of survival at the time.</span></p>

<p>Singer and convicted sex offender R. Kelly made an official request to President Trump to have his 31-year prison sentence commuted, prompting a response from the White House.</p>
<p>The Chicago Tribune first <a href="https://www.chicagotribune.com/2026/07/14/r-kelly-trump-sentence/">reported</a> this week that the request was made and that Kelly was seeking a reduced sentence rather than a full pardon. The disgraced R&amp;B singer was found guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking in 2021, then convicted of producing child pornography in a separate 2022 federal trial in Chicago.</p>
<p>A White House rep confirmed the request was made but did not indicate if or when it would be approved.</p>
<p>“This appears to be a random submission through the public portal which anyone can submit an application through,” the spokesperson said in a statement, as <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/r-kelly-trump-commute-prison-sentence-sex-abuse-1235594301/">reported</a> by Rolling Stone. “The submission of a pardon request should not be interpreted to mean anything other than an individual has chosen to submit a request. The team that reviews clemency requests at the White House is not tracking this request at this time. The White House has a thorough review process for all clemency requests, with the President being the ultimate decider.”</p>
<p>Kelly’s attorney, Beau Brindley, has been seeking Trump’s help in reducing his client&#8217;s sentence since last year, and specifically asked that the singer be removed from prison and put on house arrest due to alleged safety concerns.</p>
<p>The singer’s legal rep claimed that three prison officials recruited a terminally ill inmate to kill the singer, promising him early release if he complied.</p>
<p>“The only thing that can protect Mr. Kelly behind the prison walls now is the fact that now the world is watching,” Brindley wrote in a statement last year. “We will call on the courts and President Trump to help put an end to the corruption that now threatens Mr. Kelly’s life.”</p>
<p>The motion was denied, as The Guardian <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jul/16/r-kelly-donald-trump-appeal-commute-prison-sentence-ntwnfb">noted</a>.</p>
<p>Kelly isn’t the only recording artist seeking Trump’s help to get out of jail. The White House <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/white-house-denies-rumors-of-an-imminent-pardon-for-diddy">shot down rumors</a> last fall that a presidential pardon for rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs was imminent.</p>
<p>Diddy is currently serving a four-year sentence after being found guilty of two prostitution charges. He was facing up to 20 years in prison following a high-profile trial in New York, but was acquitted of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.</p>
<p>TMZ broke the story of the pardon in October and said it stood by the story even after the White House denied it. As of now, Diddy is still in prison.</p>

<p>Acclaimed actor Sam Neill passed away this week at the age of 78, and while most people remember him for his iconic role as Dr. Alan Grant in the Steven Spielberg blockbuster &#8220;Jurassic Park,&#8221; my immediate thought was of one scene in the 1990 thriller &#8220;The Hunt for Red October.&#8221;</p>
<p>In that film, Neill played Soviet Captain Vasili Borodin — serving under Captain Marko Ramius, who was played by the late Sean Connery. When Ramius reveals his plan to defect to the United States, his loyal second-in command is ready to follow him. But knowing nothing beyond his life in the Soviet Union at the height go the Cold War, he struggles to wrap his brain around the concept of liberty.</p>

<p>Spoiler alert: Borodin is killed before the end of the film and never gets to realize his dream. His last words are, &#8220;I would have liked to have seen Montana.&#8221;</p>
<p>But in his real life, in his own way, Neill lived out that Soviet&#8217;s dream.</p>
<p>Born in Ireland, Neill moved to New Zealand with his family when he was just seven years old, and for the rest of his life, he felt more connected to his adopted home than to his birthplace.</p>
<p>Even after reaching the heights of fame — in major releases such as &#8220;Jurassic Park,&#8221; &#8220;The Hunt for Red October,&#8221; &#8220;Event Horizon,&#8221; and more — and building a film career that spanned more than five decades, Neill often preferred the open space and quiet he found at home, making acclaimed pinot noirs at his Two Paddocks winery.</p>
<p>Neill filled his life with animals, many of whom he named after his celebrity friends, joking that the names were meant to ensure that he&#8217;d never eat them. He always asked friends&#8217; permission before naming animals after them, he said, and noted that &#8220;many of them then take an interest in their namesakes. Helena Bonham Carter is always keen to know if she’s calved again.&#8221;</p>

I would not do it if it was not so satisfying and fun — and it gets me pissed once in a while,&#8221; he explained. &#8220;I wanted to produce a good pinot noir that would, at the very least, be enjoyed by my family and friends &#8230; <span style="font-size: 16px;">Frankly, my friends will pretty much drink anything, so this didn&#8217;t seem too hard.&#8221;</span></p>
<p>Neill was far from alone in his desire to embrace the simpler things. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Cho is believed to be indicating that the third “death” would be President Trump. Senator McConnell (R-KY), however, is not actually dead. On the same day Cho&#8217;s video was shared, McConnell </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/after-28-days-of-silence-mitch-mcconnell-offers-proof-of-life-from-hospital"><span style="font-weight: 400;">posted</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> a proof of life photo and message from his hospital bed and promised that he “still has unfinished business to complete” following his recovery from a fall and a bout of pneumonia. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Even people who commented on Cho’s post took exception to her celebration of Graham’s death.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“You can disagree with a politician and still act like a decent human being,” one Instagram commenter wrote. “Mocking someone’s death says more about you than it does about him. A real comedian creates laughter; they don’t confuse cruelty and outrage with humor.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Man I&#8217;m not a fan of Lindsay Graham but I would never be happy for someone&#8217;s death. Yikes!” another person added.</span></p>

Recently, the stand-up comedian went on record saying she had wanted to participate in the gay hockey drama “Heated Rivalry” but ultimately decided against it because she was afraid of being “detained at the border” after filming in Canada. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I would love to see them everywhere,” Cho said of “queer characters” in kids’ films. “I would love to see trans characters and different types of people in roles of, like, Disney princess, Disney prince, and Disney everything.”</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">His family shared a </span><a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DauK0SrT6uJ/?hl=en"><span style="font-weight: 400;">statement</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> on the actor’s passing on Monday morning. “It is with immense sadness that the whānau [extended family] of Sam Neill share the news of his passing on Monday 13th July, in Sydney, Australia,” the statement began.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Sam was surrounded by family and passed with the dignity that has characterized his whole life,” the statement continued. “The loss was sudden and unexpected but blessed by the fact that Sam remained cancer free. They would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at St Vincent’s Private Hospital for their incredible care. More details will be shared later, but for now, on behalf of the family, we ask that you respect their privacy as they navigate this immeasurable loss.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Neill announced in 2023 that he had been diagnosed with a rare blood cancer, but in April of this year, he was declared cancer-free.</span></p>
