Another Friday night, another trip to the woodshed for woke progressives, courtesy of old-school liberal Bill Maher.
The host of HBO’s “Real Time” weighed in on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s decision to send 50 migrants on a plane trip to Martha’s Vineyard, where wealthy liberals immediately balked that the tony island enclave could not absorb them. Maher jokingly suggested the gambit could backfire on DeSantis.
“If you come here, you will get a free plane ride to a wealthy island,” Maher said was the message to illegal immigrants from the Sunshine State governor.
They're moving the migrants from Martha's Vineyard to Cape Cod. If you throw in a stop in Nantucket, that's the same cruise I booked for my parents years ago. pic.twitter.com/79oQLl3i4a

After just one overnight stay on Martha’s Vineyard, the migrants were bused out to the military’s Joint Base Cape Cod in Massachusetts as the state’s Governor Charlie Baker (R) declared an emergency and sent in the National Guard.
Maher mocked Charlie Crist, the Democrat challenging DeSantis in the upcoming November election, who worried to reporters that all of Florida’s immigrants are now in fear of being rounded up and sent out of the state.
“Fingers crossed, please send me to this lovely island that’s modern and has abortion services and likes us,” Maher said, channeling the migrants.
“The migrants, first, they went to Martha’s Vineyard, and then they — today, they sent them to Cape Cod,” Maher said. “Just throw in a stop in Nantucket, and it’s the same cruise I got my parents a few years back.
Maher, who has increasingly been tweaking modern progressive liberals, joked about the polarization that grips the nation’s politics.
“America doesn’t see anything the same, right? Right and Left?” Maher said. “The Right, they see Venezuelan immigrants, they see axe murderers. The Left sees that and they go, ‘Oh, someone to raise my kids.’”
Democrat officials and wealthy liberals such as those who populate Martha’s Vineyard have been roundly criticized for their hypocrisy in supporting lax border policies while not welcoming migrants. DeSantis and fellow GOP governors Greg Abbott, of Texas, and Doug Ducey, of Arizona, have sent thousands of illegal immigrants to blue states and so-called “sanctuary cities” including New York, Chicago, and Washington.
“Republicans are playing politics with human beings, using them as props,” President Joe Biden angrily declared Thursday.
Maher played the clip with Biden’s “props” reference, and then sardonically referenced Biden’s fiery September 1 speech at Independence Hall, where he called supporters of former President Trump a threat to the nation while flanked by U.S. Marines.
“All the Marines lined up behind him agreed,” Maher quipped.
