Actress Drew Barrymore reiterated her anti-plastic surgery stance, saying going under the knife is just not an option for her face.
“I’ve never messed with my face. I don’t want to fight nature,” the 47-year-old actress told Jamie Lee Curtis during an October 14 episode of “The Drew Barrymore Show.”
“I’m raising two daughters, and we were raised in an industry where it was desired to drink off the fountain of youth and I just never subscribed to it,” she continued, per Express. “I think men just need to let women know aging is safe and awesome.”
Barrymore shares daughters, Frankie, 8, and Olive, 10, with her ex-husband Will Kopelman. She also discussed her reasons for avoiding plastic surgery in the past.
“The thing that I do care about and I do feel is still relevant to my life is the face,” the “50 First Dates” actress said on a previous episode of the show. “I know myself. I’m a highly addictive person.”
She went on to describe that not doing plastic surgery has been her stance for years.
“I think because I’m so rebellious that I saw all of that pressure and I saw all of those women torturing themselves to look a certain way and I thought, ‘You miserable people,'” Barrymore continued. “We’re going to age, things are going to go south, and it’s okay, it’s a part of life.”
This isn’t the first time the “Charlie’s Angels” alum has bucked the mainstream narrative. Barrymore also made headlines for joking about going “years” without having sex, “no problem.”
“I’m not there yet,” she explained on her show earlier this year, as The Daily Wire previously reported. “I have two young girls, and I don’t want to bring people home. I think that it would take me a very long time to meet someone and get to know them before I could ever even introduce them to my daughters.”
In a recent follow-up blog post, Barrymore clarified her previous statements. The former child star said she “searched [her] whole life” to understand the difference between sex and love, eventually realizing with the help of her therapist that, “Sex is not love! It is the expression of love.”
Now she’s not having sex until she’s in a serious relationship. Barrymore said she’s “just in a completely different place in my life and maybe in the near future I will get into a relationship … but it simply hasn’t been my priority.”
