&#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/yellowstone">Yellowstone</a>&#8220; actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">Cole Hauser</a> shared his thoughts on the final episodes of the popular drama, saying it’s “different” from prior seasons.
Season 5 is scheduled to be released in November. Hauser, who plays Rip Wheeler on the show, talked with Fox News Digital after wrapping up filming.
&#8220;God, I just literally finished it 10 days ago, and I&#8217;ve been thinking about what the season means,&#8221; the 49-year-old actor said. &#8220;The last seven years of doing this <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/entertainment">show</a>, and [showrunner Taylor Sheridan] is just such an amazing writer, and he&#8217;s just done a great job again of trying to wrap this thing up.&#8221;
He added, &#8220;Not into a perfect bow, it never really is with ‘Yellowstone,’ but it&#8217;s some really dramatic stuff and it&#8217;s heartfelt. It&#8217;s different than past seasons, certainly, but in a good way. So, I&#8217;m excited for the audience in the ‘Yellowstone’ world to check it out and, hopefully, they love it. That&#8217;s all you can hope for.&#8221;
The big change for Season 5 is that Dutton family patriarch John Dutton, Rip’s boss and the father of his love interest Beth, is not part of the storyline. The role was played by Kevin Costner for all the previous seasons of “Yellowstone.”

Hauser said he enjoyed working with Costner, telling Fox News, “In my opinion, he&#8217;s one of those guys that comes to work and he&#8217;s always laid the wood. You know what I mean? He&#8217;s somebody that everybody looks up to or has looked up to. I’ve enjoyed every bit of working with him.&#8221;
Costner left to work on his passion project, the film series &#8220;Horizon&#8221; that so far has had lackluster results at the box office. &#8220;I wanted to work more than once a year and it was important that I made room for &#8216;Yellowstone&#8217; and made room for &#8216;Horizon,&#8217; but people ran through deadlines. They were busy; they had a lot to do,&#8221; the actor explained during an interview on &#8220;CBS Mornings&#8221; in June. He said he&#8217;d return to &#8220;Yellowstone&#8221; if &#8220;the story is going the right way.&#8221;
Despite the series coming to an end, there are rumors that a new iteration of “Yellowstone” will continue. Hauser said he’d be on board if that happened. 
&#8220;I can&#8217;t comment right now, but I mean, listen, in a perfect world, I think it would be amazing to see this thing go on, but there&#8217;s a lot of different people involved in that decision,&#8221; he told the outlet. &#8220;I&#8217;m a hired gun. I ain&#8217;t a producer, I ain&#8217;t the studio head, just a hired gun. But I hope so. I hope it really happens because it would be fun.”

A new report from <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/if-it-feels-like-lgbtq-characters-are-everywhere-on-tv-glaad-just-confirmed-it" target="_blank" rel="noopener">GLAAD</a> (Gay &amp; Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) claimed that there’s been a decrease in what it labeled LGBTQ representation in films, down from a high the previous year.
According to the advocacy group’s <a href="https://glaad.org/sri/2024/">2024 Studio Responsibility Index</a>, the study — which tracks the “quantity, quality and diversity” of LGBTQ characters in movies — found that of these 256 films in 2023, 70 contained an LGBTQ character. The report bemoaned that this was down from the 100 LGBTQ characters that appeared in 350 movies the organization tracked in 2022.
It looked at the movies from the ten major studios, listed as Netflix, The Walt Disney Studios, A24, Amazon Studios, Warner Bros. Discover, Apple TV+, Lionsgate, NBCUniversal, Paramount Global, Sony, and their subsidiaries, GLAAD noted.

The report analyzed how each of these studios did representing the LGBTQ community and the results are pretty shocking. Despite having numerous films that fit this criteria, GLAAD gave most an “insufficient” or “fair” rating.
For example, Walt Disney, who it said produced 14 “LGBTQ-inclusive” films out of 37, was given an “insufficient” score. A24 created 5 “LGBTQ-inclusive” films out of just 16 movies, and also was considered “insufficient.”
In one section of the report, the organization bemoaned the fact that there hadn’t been enough LGBTQ characters in kids/family entertainment, writing that “the overall lack of representation in the kids and family genre is disappointing.”
“Last year, GLAAD called for more representation in this area, and rather than stepping up, studios told even fewer LGBTQ stories in kids and family films this year,” it added.
Earlier this year, The “Where We Are on TV” report from GLAAD noted that 468 LGBT characters appeared on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/television">TV shows</a> last year compared to 596 the previous year, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/lgbt-character-representation-on-tv-decreases-again-per-glaad-report">reported</a>. It found that 36% of those characters would not be returning for the upcoming season.
GLAAD reported 39 LGBT regulars on 64 primetime series, representing a decrease of 44% (31 characters) compared to the previous year. However, this reduction could be partly due to fewer primetime shows across the spectrum.
On cable, the watchdog organization noted 77 LGBT characters, a 45% drop from last year. Those 77 will be further reduced next year as 38 will leave due to canceled shows or characters dying or being written off. 
Despite recent decreases, LGBTQ representation has definitely increased since the first <a href="https://glaad.org/sri/2013/">Studio Responsibility Index</a> report in 2013. At that time, 14 films out of the 101 it looked at from major studios in the 2012 calendar year, “contained characters identified as lesbian, gay or bisexual. There were no films containing transgender characters.&#8221;

Kevin Hart’s plant-based fast-food chain suddenly closed all its locations in the Los Angeles area two years after it opened, with only a message on Instagram about starting a “new chapter.”
In a post last week on social media from the account of Hart House, the vegan fast food chain owned by the 45-year-old comedian, a message read, “A Hartfelt goodbye for now as we start a new chapter,” the <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/09/13/business/kevin-harts-la-plant-based-fast-food-restaurants-suddently-closes-all-locations-just-two-years-after-opening/">New York Post</a> reported.
“Thank you,” it added. “To our team, guests, and community, who helped make the change we all craved.”
The Los Angeles dining guide <a href="https://la.eater.com/2024/9/11/24241170/hart-house-kevin-hart-plant-based-vegan-restaurant-closing-los-angeles">Eater</a> confirmed the closures with a statement from Hart House’s CEO Andy Hooper. 
“The response to the product has been incredible, and we thank our committed team, our customers, and our community partners for helping make the change we all craved, and for their unwavering support of Hart House,” Hooper told the outlet.

However, the CEO did not explain why the fast-food joints closed for good with no warning. All four sites were closed on September 10.
In 2020, the “Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle” star announced plans to open the plant-based eateries after he made a change to a vegan lifestyle, the Post noted.
Two years later, Hart House opened with Hooper, saying at the time, it wanted “to give people a plant-based option” after noticing a lack of vegan choices in the world of fast food, the <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/lifestyle/lifestyle-news/kevin-hart-vegan-restaurant-hart-house-closes-1236001488/">Hollywood Reporter</a> noted.
Hart added, at the time, “If I can give people a place to have the option that’s placed smack dab in the middle of where your McDonald’s, Chick-fil-A, and Burger King [are], people may see a Hart House and say, ‘I’m going to go plant-based today.”
The menu included “100%” plant-based items like burgers, “chicken” sandwiches and nuggets, salads, tater tots, milkshakes and more, THR noted.
In 2023, Hooper told Eater-after opening their 4th location- “Opening on the corner of Sunset and Highland, across the street from Hollywood High School, adjacent to a Chick-fil-A, a couple 100 yards from an In-N-Out, [and inside] a former McDonald’s building is about as emblematic as you can get of our aspiration to be the future of quick-service restaurants.”
The closures follow others by restaurants in Los Angeles. Just last month, the popular burger joint “Shake Shack” announced it would close five Southern California locations by the end of September.
The announcement comes following the enactment of the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/california-triggers-bloodbath-by-raising-minimum-wage-to-20-an-hour">state of California’s approval</a> to raise minimum wage to $20, the Post noted.

The “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/am-i-racist" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Am I Racist?</a>” soundtrack has cracked the Top 10 on the iTunes soundtrack chart following the release over the weekend of The Daily Wire original film, in which <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/show/the-matt-walsh-show" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Matt Walsh</a> goes deep undercover to expose the world of DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion).
On Monday, Christian rap artist Bryson Gray, shared the news on <a href="https://x.com/RealBrysonGray/status/1835726125500158185">X</a> that his song, “<a href="https://music.apple.com/us/album/am-i-racist/1764134533?i=1764134535" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Am I Racist?</a>” featured on the movie’s soundtrack, was in the #7 position on the soundtrack music chart before sharing that it had moved up again.
“The title track for @MattWalshBlog film “Am I Racist?” Featuring me is now #7 on the soundtrack iTunes Charts!” Gray wrote to his hundreds of thousands of followers.
“6 spots away from number 1,” he added. “Let me know if you need the link! Let’s get it there!”
A short time later, he shared a <a href="https://x.com/ChrisBlohn/status/1835758809924489306">post</a> from one of his followers who shared that the song had since moved up on the music chart.
“Up to #6! Let’s get it to the top!” the follower wrote.

“Am I Racist?” made history for being one of only 15 documentaries to open in over 1,500 theaters after expanding from just 200 to start. So far mainstream critics have mostly ignored the film’s existence even as viewers flock to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/rotten-tomatoes">Rotten Tomatoes</a> to rave about it. As of Sunday afternoon, “Am I Racist?” has a <a href="https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/am_i_racist/reviews?type=verified_audience">99% audience score</a> on the site, with more than 500 verified reviewers weighing in. 
The most surprising feedback comes from several moviegoers who admit that even if they disagree with Walsh on other points, they were fans of the film. Many of these reviews came from the Reddit subthread <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/boxoffice/comments/1fgdmp6/am_i_racist_gets_an_a_on_cinemascore/">r/boxoffice</a>.
“Saw it yesterday. I’m not a Matt Walsh fan, but I really enjoyed it,” one person wrote. “It’s not making claims like ‘Racism doesn’t exist’ or anything like that. It’s all about exposing the anti-racist and DEI grifters who profit off of nonsense. Right wing Borat is a pretty accurate statement, but I honestly found this to be a lot funnier than Borat 2.” 
“Even if you don’t like Walsh I think you should give it a chance, it’s really not as political as I think many would expect it to be,” the reviewer added.

Stars at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday were silent hours after authorities said there had been a second assassination attempt against former <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump">President Donald Trump</a>.
The ABC broadcast from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles lasted for more than three hours, and not one presenter or winner mentioned a single word about the plot to kill Trump, this time at his golf club in Florida.
Secret Service personnel <a href="https://www.secretservice.gov/newsroom/releases/2024/09/secret-service-statement-regarding-september-15-2024-security-incident">opened fire</a> on a man who poked a rifle muzzle through a fence at Trump International Golf Course West Palm Beach. The suspect fled and was later arrested. CNN <a href="https://www.cnn.com/politics/live-news/trump-harris-election-09-15-24#h_40a4f240c6b95848a836918e03240a69">reported</a> that Trump returned to his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach after the incident.

During the broadcast, several stars did get political despite not mentioning Trump. One took a swipe at the former president&#8217;s running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH). Actress Candice Bergen recalled playing unmarried, pregnant news anchor “Murphy Brown” and being criticized by then-Vice President Dan Quayle in the 1990s.

Hollywood star Candice Bergen got political at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards when she took a swipe at Republican Vice President candidate <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jd-vance-torches-democratic-propagandist-dana-bash-during-cnn-interview" target="_blank" rel="noopener">J.D. Vance</a>.
On Sunday during the <a href="https://x.com/ask_aubry/status/1835494866890952777" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ABC broadcast</a> at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, the 78-year-old actress recalled playing news anchor “Murphy Brown” on the popular show and a moment during her career when her character became pregnant but was unmarried.
&#8220;In one classic moment, my character was attacked by [Republican] Vice President Dan Quayle when Murphy became pregnant and decided to raise the baby as a single mother,” Bergen told the room of stars. “Oh how far we’ve come.”
“Today a Republican candidate for Vice President would never attack a woman for having kids,” she added sarcastically. “So as they say, my work here is done. Meow”

The comment was part of an ongoing attack by the left against <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/vance-hits-kamala-over-maga-morphosis-adopting-all-of-donald-trumps-policies" target="_blank" rel="noopener">former President Donald Trump</a>’s running mate — over something Vance said during an interview in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dems-try-to-paint-jd-vance-as-weird-talk-about-projection">2021</a> that has been completely taken out of context.
“We are effectively run in this country via the Democrats, via our corporate oligarchs, by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable too,” Vance said. &#8220;That is a basic fact. Look at Kamala Harris, AOC, and the like; the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children. How does it make any sense that we’ve turned our country over to people who don’t have a direct stake in it?”
Bergen’s comment wasn’t the only one of the night that mentioned the upcoming election. Actress Liza Colon-Zayas for “The Bear” was nominated for Best Supporting Actress. During her <a href="https://x.com/CapaMagDizi/status/1835477789551517857">acceptance speech</a> she thanked supporters and then just said “Vote.”
&#8220;All the Latinas who are looking at me, keep believing and VOTE,” Colon-Zayas said. “Vote for your rights,” without explaining further what she meant by that last comment. 
“Only In The Murders Building” stars opened the evening’s show with actress <a href="https://x.com/the13manuscript/status/1835473907349876810">Selena Gomez</a> attempting to take a swipe at Vance when she labeled her co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short “childless cat ladies.”
She didn’t get the bit right and said that Martin and Short were “this far away from being childless cat ladies&#8221; instead of &#8220;this close&#8230;&#8221; as <a href="https://x.com/PageSix/status/1835485972500218057" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Page Six</a> noted.

Drea de Matteo doesn’t understand why people care about celebrity endorsements.
“In the past, I understood the value,” &#8220;The Sopranos&#8221; star told The Daily Wire in a wide-ranging interview Thursday. “There was a rock and roll aspect to it, you know, you had all these musicians, there was a celebration of the country. I know now that there is no celebration of this country, and there&#8217;s no patriotism.”
Consider Robert De Niro, who held a press conference in March outside former President Donald Trump’s trial in New York City. De Matteo called it “one of the worst acting jobs” the “Goodfellas” star “ever did.”
“I really was like, do they have s*** on him? Because I don&#8217;t believe him right now. Even if he&#8217;s genuine and he really does mean what he is saying — why do people care?”
De Niro was one of many Italian-American celebrities who joined last weekend’s virtual  “<a href="https://paisansforkamala.com/">Paisans for Kamala</a>” event, the latest in a string of celebrity-studded, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-dnc-held-an-irish-americans-for-harris-walz-event-it-was-awkward">ethnically-focused</a> Zoom calls hosted by the Harris-Walz campaign.
It was that event that inspired de Matteo to speak on the absurdity of celebrity endorsements.
“Look who became MADE men [and] women in the Corporate Mafia today,” she wrote on Instagram. “Congrats Paisans, Mussolini would be proud.”
De Matteo finds it hard to believe that any American, celebrity or not, would cast their lot with Kamala Harris. But she’s particularly shocked to find such support in Hollywood “Paisans.”

“What&#8217;s interesting is Italians are generally known as being conservative,” she says. “They fought against the Sopranos, they picketed, they hated us, because they don&#8217;t like being associated with such corruption like that because they have a subculture, which is the mafia.”
But “we are now being dominated by…a sort of mafia government,” who “shake us down and govern like a mafia does in a neighborhood,” she told The Daily Wire.
“I made a snarky joke, but I mean, it is the truth, right?”
Snark and the truth. That’s pretty much what you get from de Matteo, a self-proclaimed  “hardcore liberal” who in recent years has found herself joining an increasingly large number of Americans dissatisfied with, and suspicious of, both American political parties.
It began for her, as it did so many others, during the COVID pandemic, when Americans found themselves with “nothing but time on our hands but to ask questions.”
“I don&#8217;t know what people were doing at home aside from baking bread. But for me…I really wanted to know what the hell was going on.”
“I feel like a lot of these celebrities are either tone deaf, and they don&#8217;t know what&#8217;s going on,” de Matteo says. And, like most “well-intentioned liberals,” if celebrities only understood the stakes of our current political moment, de Matteo is sure they would “abandon ship.”
That’s what she did, abandoning the Democratic Party after casting her first ever presidential vote for President Joe Biden in 2020.
“I had Trump Derangement Syndrome,” she admits. “I believed the hype. I listened to the real news! I didn&#8217;t do my own research.”

But once she did, she realized that the Democratic Party she knew had changed. It was not the working class party of her childhood, which earned the support and respect of her family, including her mother, who canvassed for Geraldine Ferraro. It has become, she says, “the party of the wealthy.”
But wealth isn’t why de Matteo thinks so many celebrities support Democrats. To her, it’s really just a matter of groupthink.
“I feel like a lot of these celebrities are either tone deaf, and they don&#8217;t know what&#8217;s going on,” she says, adding that, like most “well-intentioned liberals,” these celebrities would “abandon ship” if they understood what was going on.
“It feels sad to see how misinformed [celebrities] are,” she says. “If they&#8217;re not misinformed, then it makes me question their integrity as a human being and why they would want to hurt people on that level,” by endorsing Harris.
“We&#8217;ve been watching them try to dismantle anything from God to country to human sovereignty,” she says. “So I do feel like the celebrity aspect of it this time around is a clown show.”

For her part, de Matteo is trying to make Americans realize there’s an alternative to this “clown show.” She endorsed Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s third-party candidacy, and is now raising awareness for <a href="https://jointheresistance.org/">Rescue The Republic,</a> a movement for political unity that features heterodox political figures like Kennedy, Russell Brand, and former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard.
In Rescue The Republic — which is holding a massive Washington, D.C., rally on September 29 — de Matteo found the kind of old school patriotism that has animated her throughout her life.
“Since I was a little kid, if you asked me what my favorite colors are and I was like ‘red, white and blue!’ Everything is American flags,” she told The Daily Wire. “I think I might have been Betsy Ross in another life.”
To de Matteo, it seems like both parties have lost sight of what that flag represents: a radical, unprecedented freedom that goes above and beyond the petty partisan squabbles that define contemporary Washington and the party system. Freedom to her is rock and roll — it’s “psychedelic.”
She’s tried to recapture this spirit in <a href="https://ultrafree.co/">Ultrafree</a>, a streetwear line she launched in 2023 to “make freedom cool again.” She’s quick to note that Ultrafree is not another brand geared at conservatives, but rather any American who feels as she does: adrift, frustrated, but still hopeful about what this country can be.
“The pronoun for the whole movement is ‘we, the people,’&#8221; she says. “It&#8217;s not red, it&#8217;s not blue, no more labels … Ultrafree is really about critical thinking and not allowing your mind to be hijacked.”
If anything, de Matteo hopes to bring her fellow “hardcore liberals” into the fight for freedom by making them realize it isn’t a partisan issue.
“This isn&#8217;t just a conservative movement,” she says. “This is a movement by hippies and wild cards and lunatics like us as well. We wanna be free.”

A New York City grand jury has <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/harvey-weinstein-indicted-new-charges-new-york-grand-jury-rcna169931">indicted</a> former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, who has been accused of sexual assault or harassment by at least 80 women, on new charges that reportedly revolve around other cases of sexual harassment.
In 2017, women started coming forward to accuse Weinstein of sexual abuse. Weinstein’s 2020 conviction of third-degree rape of one woman and first-degree criminal sex act of another was overturned in April by an appellate court. But in 2022, Weinstein was found guilty of one count of rape and two counts of sexual assault, and sentenced to 16 years in prison, a decision that is being appealed by his attorneys.
Earlier this week, Weinstein was transported from Rikers Island jail to Bellevue Hospital for emergency heart surgery.

Weinstein’s Miramax company, which he founded with his brother Bob, produced three films that won the Best Picture Oscar: “The English Patient,” “Shakespeare in Love,” and “Chicago,” as well as the films “Pulp Fiction” and “Good Will Hunting.”
The appellate court that overturned Weinstein’s 2020 conviction wrote, “We conclude that the trial court erroneously admitted testimony of uncharged, alleged prior sexual acts against persons other than the complainants of the underlying crimes. The remedy for these egregious errors is a new trial. &#8230; It is an abuse of judicial discretion to permit untested allegations of nothing more than bad behavior that destroys a defendant’s character but sheds no light on their credibility as related to the criminal charges lodged against them.”
After 2017 reports in The New York Times and The New Yorker detailed Weinstein’s alleged sexual harassment of women, Weinstein was dismissed from Miramax, expelled from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and suspended from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. He resigned from the Directors Guild of America.
In what was called the “Weinstein Effect,” after the reports of Weinstein’s alleged sexual harassment became public, many women and some men came forward to speak of being sexually harassed by prominent individuals.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/chris-pratt" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chris Pratt</a> paid tribute to those who were &#8220;taken from us&#8221; in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, and said we must never forget what happened that “fateful day.”
In a post on Wednesday on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C_yTOVJSN2t/?igsh=MWQ1ZGUxMzBkMA%3D%3D&amp;img_index=3">Instagram</a>, the 45-year-old actor took time out to remember the lives who were taken in the attack and shared several images from the aftermath of the tragedy of that day.
“September 11, 2001,” Pratt wrote along with an American flag emoji. “A day that will forever hold a place in our nation’s history. As I reflect on the tragedy of that fateful day, I grieve for each and every innocent soul that was taken from us.”
“It is our duty to remember, honor, and keep their memory alive,” he added. “Our lives were forever changed at 8:46 am 23 years ago, and we will #NeverForget.”

To mark the 21st anniversary of 9/11, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/chris-pratt">Pratt</a> posted a message for all those who died in the terrorist attacks — who “risked their lives for us and our country.”
“Today we remember those who woke up, kissed their families goodbye, and went to work without realizing they wouldn’t return,” the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chris-pratt-sends-message-to-fans-and-amazon-after-the-terminal-list-soars-to-number-1">&#8220;Guardians of the Galaxy&#8221; star</a> captioned his <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/those-who-risked-their-lives-for-us-and-our-country-chris-pratt-remembers-those-who-died-on-9-11">post</a>. It included a photo showing rows and rows of American flags on a hill as he honored all those who got up that morning, answered duty’s call, and never returned home.

Chris Pratt Pays Tribute To Those Who Were 'Taken From Us' In 9/11 Terrorist Attack

***WARNING: Although the historical events that took place throughout President Ronald Reagan&#8217;s life are well-documented, this article may contain spoilers with regard to the framing and overall presentation of the film.***
The political Left does not appear to want the American people to see &#8220;Reagan&#8221; — at least, not until after the 2024 presidential election is settled.
Actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dennis-quaid-says-facebook-is-censoring-the-free-flow-of-ideas-throttling-reagan-movie-promos" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dennis Quaid</a>, who portrays the titular president, said weeks ago that Facebook was &#8220;throttling advertising and promotion&#8221; for the film, &#8220;once again censoring the free flow of ideas, deciding what’s best for us to see and hear.&#8221;
It&#8217;s true that the American Left never liked Reagan, which could be reason enough for some to think it worth scuttling a movie about him. But after seeing the film myself — and some of the reactions to it — I realized that it goes much deeper than that. They don&#8217;t just hate Reagan the president: they hate Reagan the man. What&#8217;s more, they hate everyone who values the things Reagan stood for, the things that drove him.
Full disclosure: I was a child of the Reagan years. Born in 1979, I never really saw the havoc wrought by President Jimmy Carter&#8217;s administration. The first political speech I remember was Reagan&#8217;s address to the nation in the wake of the Challenger disaster in 1986. I watched the explosion live from my first-grade classroom and saw my teacher quietly crying at her desk — and later, at home, I watched as the president paid solemn tribute to the lives lost in that tragedy. I was eight years old when, just over a year later, I watched Reagan stand in front of the Brandenburg Gate and forcefully urge Mr. Gorbachev to &#8220;tear down this wall!&#8221;
That was all I knew of American presidents, and so that became what I expected of American presidents: someone who could speak with sincerity and solemnity to a nation in pain, but also someone who showed no fear in the face of adversaries on the world stage. I saw flickers of those same things from President George W. Bush in response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Now, the Left is terrified that people will notice those things are not to be found in Vice President Kamala Harris — and even more terrified that they just might see them in former President Donald Trump. That&#8217;s where the &#8220;Reagan&#8221; movie fits in: whether intentionally or not, it draws parallels that are difficult to ignore and even more difficult to explain away.
<h4>They don&#8217;t want a president staying strong in the face of an assassination attempt top of mind.</h4>
The movie begins with a literal &#8220;bang,&#8221; the March 30, 1981 attempt on Reagan&#8217;s life. We get Reagan&#8217;s quip to his wife, Nancy — &#8220;Honey, I forgot to duck&#8221; — and to his surgeons — &#8220;I hope you&#8217;re all Republicans.&#8221;
&#8220;Today, Mr. President, we are all Republicans,&#8221; was the reply from Dr. Joseph Giordano, a liberal Democrat.
Trump may not have lost half of his blood volume when he was shot in the head on July 13th, as Reagan did in 1981. But Trump&#8217;s immediate response to the shooting, despite Secret Service attempts to keep him under cover, was to stand and show his supporters that he was okay. He raised his fist, shouting, &#8220;Fight! Fight! Fight!&#8221; before agents were able to usher him off the stage.
He later described the moment he knew he&#8217;d been hit, saying that at first, it felt like &#8220;a really big <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-says-bullet-felt-like-mosquito-bite-turning-his-head-saved-his-life-bret-baier" target="_blank" rel="noopener">mosquito</a>.&#8221;
<h4>They don&#8217;t want you seeing value in an unorthodox leader who sometimes ignores his closest advisors.</h4>
Whatever else could be said about Reagan, he had his own negotiating style — whether with foreign leaders, an adversarial Congress, or his own advisors. One of the great examples of this is his Brandenburg Gate speech. His advisors warned him not to unnecessarily provoke Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev, with whom he had been discussing nuclear disarmament, by demanding the destruction of the Berlin Wall.
But Reagan, with just a year left in his second term, did so anyway. Two years later, the wall came down. Two years after that, the Soviet Union was no more.
The comparison here is obvious. Trump is nothing if not unorthodox, and he often does or says things against the wishes of his advisors — sometimes with more success than others. A reminder that unorthodoxy can be both necessary and effective is not something the Left wants voters thinking about when they head to the polls.
<h4>They really don&#8217;t want you to remember what it was like to have a man of faith in the Oval Office.</h4>
In American politics, we are accustomed to politicians who go to church for the optics. The current president, for example, often talks about his deep and abiding Catholic faith — and although we do see him attending Mass, we also see him making the Sign of the Cross at an abortion rally. We see him embracing the Pope, but inviting trans-identifying influencers to attend White House events with children present.
Reagan was different, on a number of levels. He rarely attended church while he was president — not because he didn&#8217;t want to, but because he worried that attending the service would disrupt the service at best, and endanger his fellow worshipers at worst.
Still, Reagan&#8217;s faith was what planted the seed that blossomed into the president&#8217;s lifelong crusade against communism — a crusade that began when in Hollywood and came to fruition in the White House. As a young man, Reagan sat in the congregation and listened intently as a Soviet dissident explained that the first thing the communists took was their churches. For Reagan, who had always seen church as a refuge from a tumultuous home life, that was a bridge too far.
<h4>They really, REALLY don&#8217;t want you thinking about the enduring threat of socialism.</h4>
In the movie, Reagan mentions the summer he spent as a lifeguard on a river, and explains how he learned to &#8220;read the currents,&#8221; both on the surface and beneath it. Sometimes, he said of the people he rescued on that river, &#8220;I knew they were in trouble before they did.&#8221;
That ability translated to politics, giving Reagan an ability to read the currents driving both global politics and culture — and to predict how they might interact.
Trump has been less effective at this so far, but he has made it clear that he sees the threat of socialism — and that he knows it is coming, at least in part, from within the United States. In his 2019 State of the Union, Trump vowed that America would never be socialist.
&#8220;Here, in the United States, we are alarmed by new calls to adopt socialism in our country. America was founded on liberty and independence — not government coercion, domination, and control. We are born free, and we will stay free,&#8221; he said.
In addition, Trump&#8217;s recent efforts to build a coalition — including former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii — may not have brought in a tidal wave of &#8220;Trump Democrats,&#8221; but they have given him a populist boost that Vice President Harris failed to match with a &#8220;bounce&#8221; from the Democratic National Convention.
For these reasons and more, the political Left clearly does not want you to see the parallels. Rolling Stone <a href="https://x.com/RollingStone/status/1832796110198280409" target="_blank" rel="noopener">panned the film</a>, calling it a &#8220;tedious biopic that shows the American political right will always value propaganda over compelling human drama.&#8221; On <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dennis-quaid-biopic-reagan-outperforms-expectations-earns-high-audience-rating" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rotten Tomatoes,</a> the movie scored a dismal 20% from critics who tend to lean all the way to the Left.
The audience told a different tale, however, giving the film a positive 98%. I&#8217;m with them.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/selena-gomez">Selena Gomez</a> has revealed that she will never be able to carry her own children due to several medical issues, but she also said that adoption or surrogacy are definite options for her.
In an interview with <a href="https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/story/selena-gomez-cover-interview">Vanity Fair</a>, the 32-year-old actress opened up about her desire to be a mother but admitted her path “will look a little different” after being diagnosed with the auto-immune disease Lupus in 2015 followed by bipolar disorder in 2020.
“I haven’t ever said this &#8230; but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children,” Gomez said. “I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while…”
“[But] I’m in a much better place with that,” she added. “I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me.”

“It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms,” Gomez continued. “I’m one of those people. I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different. At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby.”
The “Only Murders In The Building” star previously talked about her dreams of being a mother and admitted that taking the bipolar medications she was on most likely meant she wouldn’t be able to carry children, though she hesitated to go as far as what she said to VF.
The “Wizards of Waverly Place” star also opened up about her relationship with ​​boyfriend Benny Blanco, who she’s confirmed dating since December 2023, <a href="https://people.com/selena-gomez-had-to-grieve-being-unable-to-carry-her-own-children-8708377?utm_campaign=people&amp;utm_content=likeshop&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=instagram">People magazine</a> noted.
“I’ve never been loved this way&#8230;He’s just been a light,” Gomez told VF of her beau. “A complete light in my life. He’s my best friend. I love telling him everything.”
The superstar actress and singer recently made headlines when it appeared she made comments about the possibility that her music career is coming to an end.
During the singer’s appearance on the latest “<a href="https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/smartless/id1521578868?i=1000639496561">Smartless”</a> podcast, Gomez talked about how she has “one more album” in her before she closes the door on her singing career, <a href="https://www.eonline.com/news/1392309/selena-gomez-reveals-her-next-album-will-likely-be-her-last">E! News</a> reported. 
“I started having a lot of fun with music and then touring was really fun,” the pop singer said. “But I was doing my TV show [‘Wizards of Waverly Place’] at the same time, and I just found it really fun, so I just kept going.”
“But the older I get, the more I’m kind of like, ‘I would like to find something to just settle on,” she added. “I do feel like I have one more album in me, but I would probably choose acting. I am gonna wanna chill because I’m tired.”

Hollywood star Kathy Bates announced that she’s done her final project and will retire once the reboot of CBS’ “Matlock” airs later this month.
Speaking to The <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/09/08/arts/television/matlock-kathy-bates.html">New York Times</a>, the 76-year-old actress shared how she had planned on retiring before she was sent the script to play Madeline Matlock in the reboot of the popular attorney <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090481/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2">TV series</a> that aired from 1986-1995 and had Andy Griffith playing the lead.
“This is my last dance,” Bates said as she revealed that she knew it was time to quit after she ended up crying on her sofa during an unnamed movie shoot.
“It becomes my life,” she added. “Sometimes I get jealous of having this talent. Because I can’t hold it back, and I just want my life.”

Bates also said, “Everything I’ve prayed for, worked for, clawed my way up for, I am suddenly able to be asked to use all of it&#8230;And it’s exhausting.”
A description of the “Matlock” series <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt26591147/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_4_nm_4_in_0_q_Matlock">says it</a> “[f]ollows Madeline Matlock as she rejoins the work force at a prestigious law firm, where she uses her wily tactics to win cases and expose wrong doing.”
Bates has been part of Hollywood and Broadway for more than five decades.
Her impressive resume includes the 1990 movie based on Stephen King’s horror novel “Misery&#8221; in which Bates played a fan who kidnaps her favorite author (played by <a href="https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001001/?ref_=nmbio_mbio">James Caan</a>) and subjects him to a whole host of horrific tortures to get him to revive her favorite characters storyline.
The role was a huge boost to her career and led to her capturing the &#8220;&#8216;Best Actress&#8217; Oscar and Golden Globe award, a first in that genre (horror) for that category,&#8221; <a href="https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000870/bio/?ref_=nm_ov_bio_sm">IMDb</a> noted.
A year later, Bates appeared in the flashback period piece “<a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101921/?ref_=nmbio_mbio">Fried Green Tomatoes</a>” alongside actress Jessica Tandy. In 1995, Bates landed a “Best Supporting Actress” nomination for her role in the 1998 political movie “Primary Colors.”
