A conservative legal group warned Monday of a “loophole” that allows thousands of voters in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/wisconsin" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Wisconsin</a> to cast a ballot without showing identification. 
The Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty (WILL) released a <a href="https://dw-wp-production.imgix.net/2024/09/Indefinitely-Confined-FINAL-1.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">research report</a> that said there are 144,347 people in the Badger State classified as “indefinitely confined,” meaning that they could cast an absentee ballot without showing ID. Indefinitely confined rates skyrocketed during the 2020 election and allowed tens of thousands to cast absentee ballots. 
“Wisconsin has a strong voter ID requirement in place, but there is one loophole that is ripe for exploitation. In Wisconsin, voters can claim they are ‘Indefinitely Confined,’ a status that allows a voter to continually receive an absentee ballot without ever showing an ID,” the report from WILL researcher Will Flanders said. 
Flanders said that while the number of voters classified as “indefinitely confined” had come down from 2020, it was still 116% higher than it was back in 2016 as of July 2024. He added that there were still thousands of voters who should be removed from the list under state law. 
“Per state law, clerks are to remove voters if they vote in-person or do not vote in any election. Those voters must sign and return a form to retain that status,” the report noted. 
According to Flanders, voters who should have received a notice of potential removal from the &#8220;indefinitely confined&#8221; list include 24,800 who didn’t vote in the April election, 2,788 who haven’t voted at all since 2020, and 2,595 who voted in person in April.
The areas with the highest number of indefinitely confined voters are the Democratic strongholds of Milwaukee and Madison followed by more divided areas like Green Bay and Kenosha. 
Indefinitely confined voter status was designed to help voters who are elderly or disabled and unable to make it to the polls. Voters just have to select that they fit the requirements for being indefinitely confined.

“Under this statute, voters decide for themselves whether they meet the requirements and can receive an absentee ballot in perpetuity if they continue to vote in every election,” the report said. “Most critically, voters can receive ballots in this way without providing a photo ID. In Wisconsin, you only need to show a photo ID when you vote—not when you register.”

During the 2020 election, election officials in Madison and Milwaukee said that effectively all voters could claim indefinitely confined status because of COVID. The Wisconsin Supreme Court <a href="https://www.wisbar.org/NewsPublications/InsideTrack/Pages/Article.aspx?Volume=0&amp;ArticleID=28110#:~:text=In%20Republican%20Party%20of%20Wisconsin%20v.%20Dane%20County%2C,can%20declare%20persons%20indefinitely%20confined%20for%20any%20reason." target="_blank" rel="noopener">later ruled</a> against this guidance, after the election. 
WILL has argued that there should be tighter guidelines for receiving indefinitely confined status and sent out letters to 15 communities across the state to see if they were complying with state law about cleaning up their rolls. 
“Confidence in our elections continues to be dangerously low in Wisconsin and across the country,” Flanders told The Daily Wire. “Voter ID is a popular and well-executed way to keep our elections secure and free of fraud. While the Governor refused to fix this loophole in the years since 2020, efforts must be made by local election clerks to resolve it as much as possible.”
Wisconsin is expected to be one of the key battleground states that may determine the outcome of the 2024 election with polls showing a close race between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Trump’s appearance in Wisconsin will follow another campaign stop in Potterville, Michigan, a town of about 2,600 located about 15 miles south of Lansing. Trump will <a href="https://www.wilx.com/2024/08/28/trump-gizzard-city-potterville-community-prepares-campaign-visit-mid-michigan/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reportedly</a> speak on his economic policies, focusing on inflation and manufacturing at the Alro Steel factory.
“Alro Steel was approached by the Trump campaign to hold this press conference and agreed to the event to support manufacturing,&#8221; Alro Steel Business Development and Marketing Vice President Brian Glick told local outlet WILX. &#8220;We recognize the critical importance of manufacturing growth in the State of Michigan and this country.”
Both Wisconsin and Michigan are expected to be states that could determine the outcome of the 2024 election. Trump narrowly won both during his 2016 campaign, breaking through the Democrats&#8217; “blue wall.” According to an average of polls in the battleground states, Harris currently maintains a 2.2-point average lead in Michigan and a 1-point lead in Wisconsin.

Days after independent presidential candidate <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/robert-f-kennedy-jr" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Robert F. Kennedy Jr.</a> suspended his campaign and said he would seek to have his name removed from battleground state ballots, the Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC) voted to keep Kennedy on the state&#8217;s general election ballot.
Kennedy sent a letter to the WEC on Friday, requesting that his name be removed from the ballot, but the commission, which is <a href="https://elections.wi.gov/about-wec/members-and-administrator" target="_blank" rel="noopener">made up</a> of three Democrats and three Republicans, voted 5-1 on Tuesday to approve Kennedy&#8217;s and two other candidates&#8217; names for the ballot, WKOW <a href="https://www.wkow.com/news/politics/robert-f-kennedy-jr-will-appear-on-wisconsin-ballot-after-elections-commission-vote/article_6eb0ca98-64a5-11ef-a790-435684def406.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. A motion to remove Kennedy from the ballot after the initial vote failed in a 3-3 split. The commission cited a state law that says candidates cannot decline their nomination after filing for ballot access.
&#8220;We know Trump and Kennedy are playing games,&#8221; said Democratic elections commission member Mark Thompson, according to the <a href="https://www.wmdt.com/i/election-2024-latest-harris-ad-focuses-on-housing-former-democratic-congresswoman-endorses-trump/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Associated Press</a>. &#8220;Whatever games they’re playing, they have to play them with Kennedy on the ballot.&#8221;

Independent candidate Cornel West and Green Party candidate Jill Stein also made the Wisconsin ballot after legal challenges to their candidacies. The Wisconsin Supreme Court <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/wisconsins-supreme-court-stops-democrats-from-tossing-jill-stein-off-ballot" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rejected</a> Democrats&#8217; attempts on Monday to boot Stein from the state&#8217;s ballot. Stein was accused by Democrats of taking votes from Hillary Clinton in 2016 when Trump defeated her with the help of Wisconsin&#8217;s electoral votes. Trump won Wisconsin in 2016 by just over <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/elections/2016/results/wisconsin" target="_blank" rel="noopener">22,000 votes</a>.

Wisconsin&#8217;s left-wing Supreme Court rejected on Monday attempts by Democrats to throw Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein off the ballot this fall.
David Strange, individually and as Deputy Operations Director-Wisconsin for the Democrat National Committee, filed a petition to have Stein removed from the ballot.
Democrats worry that Stein could take away enough votes from Democrat presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump to end up winning the crucial swing state, which could propel him to the 270 electoral votes he needs to win the election.
The court said that it would not take up the case because “the petitioner is not entitled to the relief he seeks.”
&#8220;This is a big win against the anti-Democratic Party&#8217;s war on democracy and voter choice,&#8221; Stein said in a statement. &#8220;The Democrats constantly preach about ‘saving democracy,’ when in reality they’ve been doing everything they can to crush democracy by trying to remove the Green Party and others from the ballot.&#8221;
The lawsuit to have Stein removed from the ballot centered around allegations that the party was not eligible to be on the ballot because the Green Party had no candidates for state office and did not have any officeholders in the state who could nominate presidential electors.
Twice-failed Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton lost the state of Wisconsin to Trump by 22,748 votes in 2016. During that election, Stein won 31,072 votes in the state.
Stein later added on social media: &#8220;Big win against the anti-Democratic Party’s war on democracy and voter choice! Wisconsin voters still have an anti-genocide, pro-worker, climate action choice this year!&#8221;

The Trump-Vance campaign released on Sunday a plan to &#8220;barnstorm&#8221; battleground states and call out the &#8220;failed record&#8221; of Vice President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kamala-harris" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kamala Harris</a>, who leads the Democratic Party&#8217;s presidential ticket, during a series of events from Monday through Friday.
On Monday, Trump will hold an event focused on the economy and energy in York, Pennsylvania, and Vance will host an event with the same theme in Philadelphia. Tuesday brings events focused on crime and safety, with Trump hosting one in Detroit and Vance holding another in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Trump and Vance will unite on Wednesday to host a national security event in Asheboro, North Carolina. On Thursday, Trump is slated to host an immigration event in Montezuma Pass, Arizona, and Vance is set to hold a similar event in Valdosta, Georgia. And on Friday, Trump is scheduled to host a rally in Glendale, Arizona at 4 p.m. local time and a &#8220;No Tax On Tips&#8221; event in Las Vegas.
Their campaign also listed other events taking place in cities across the battleground states with the same themes as the main events of that day. Trump campaign &#8220;allies&#8221; will hold daily press conferences in Chicago from Monday through Thursday.
“At the DNC, Kamala Harris will hide behind celebrities because everyday families know that she has been an absolute disaster for our nation, and real Americans are worse off now than four years ago,&#8221; said Trump Campaign Senior Advisors Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles in a statement. &#8220;Harris has failed to answer media questions for 28 days because she can’t explain away her record of supporting policies that cause inflation, bans on private health insurance, destroying American energy, and higher taxes.&#8221;
They added, &#8220;As they meet Americans where they are in battleground states across the country, President Trump and Senator Vance will remind voters that under their leadership, we can end inflation, protect our communities from violent criminals, secure the border, and Make America Great Again.&#8221;

Big tech employees overwhelmingly support<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/wisconsin"> Wisconsin</a> Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D.), contributing tens of thousands of dollars to her campaign while giving no money to Republican challenger Eric Hovde, according to a review of Federal Election Commission data.
Employees and high level executives at the Big Five — Apple, Amazon, Google, Meta, and Microsoft — are stepping in to help Baldwin amid her contentious campaign for a third term in the Senate. The notoriously left-learning tech industry has come under increasing scrutiny in recent weeks as Google and Meta face accusations of censoring information about the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. 
Baldwin has received nearly $70,000 dollars from employees of the Big Five, with over half coming from employees at Google,<a href="https://www.fec.gov/data/receipts/?data_type=processed&amp;committee_id=C00326801&amp;committee_id=C00830687&amp;contributor_employer=Microsoft&amp;contributor_employer=Meta&amp;contributor_employer=Google&amp;contributor_employer=Facebook&amp;contributor_employer=Apple&amp;contributor_employer=Amazon&amp;contributor_employer=Alphabet&amp;two_year_transaction_period=2024"> according</a> to a Daily Wire review of Federal Election Commission data. Hovde, a Wisconsin businessman, appears to have received<a href="https://www.fec.gov/data/receipts/?data_type=processed&amp;committee_id=C00870139&amp;contributor_employer=Alphabet&amp;contributor_employer=Amazon&amp;contributor_employer=Apple&amp;contributor_employer=Facebook&amp;contributor_employer=Google&amp;contributor_employer=Meta&amp;contributor_employer=Microsoft&amp;two_year_transaction_period=2024"> no donations</a> to his Hovde for Wisconsin or Hovde Victory Committee from workers at those tech companies.
Employees and executives of Google and its parent company, Alphabet, have given at least $35,520 in donations to Baldwin so far this election cycle.
Kent Walker, president of global affairs at Google and Alphabet, has donated $6,600 to Baldwin this election cycle while Google CMO Lorraine Twohill gave Baldwin $3,300. Fernando Pereira, a vice president and engineering fellow at Google, gave $1,500 to Baldwin while Vinton Cerf, another Google executive, gave the Democratic senator $3,300. 
Donations from employees at the other four tech giants were similarly lopsided, though smaller in number. Amazon employees gave Baldwin $13,172, while Microsoft employees gave her $12,175. Workers at Apple donated just $4,575, while Meta employees gave $2,721. 
While Baldwin won her last election in 2018 by over 10 points, her race this November is expected to be closer, with Wisconsin projected to be one of the battleground states that determines the result of the presidential election. Hovde, who locked up the Republican nomination on Tuesday, is backed by Trump.

Zach Bannon, a spokesman for Hovde, said that the tech donations showed that Baldwin is a “bought and paid for corporate special interest career politician.”
“She sides with the big-tech donors that fund her campaign over the concerns of everyday Wisconsinites, which is why the people of Wisconsin are tired of corrupt career politicians and are ready for change,” he told The Daily Wire.

For example, in January 2021 Baldwin<a href="https://www.baldwin.senate.gov/news/press-releases/tech-leaders-combat-coronavirus-vaccine-misinformation"> joined</a> efforts to urge social media platforms like Google and Facebook to restrict posts critical of COVID vaccines. 
“While we understand that your companies have implemented policies regarding the removal of vaccine-related misinformation and dedicated resources to stop the spread of misinformation, we believe more must be done. It is imperative that you be transparent about the amount of harmful misinformation that appears on your platforms and the effectiveness of your efforts to remove this content, so that public health organizations and experts can respond appropriately,” Baldwin wrote. 
Baldwin did not return a request for an interview about her stance on “misinformation” and Big Tech.

The left bias of Google employees is no surprise, as donations were<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/google-employees-overwhelmingly-back-warnock-other-senate-democrat-candidates"> similarly lopsided</a> in key Senate races during the 2022 election. The search engine has consistently asserted that it is politically neutral and not biased against conservatives. 
However, in the weeks following the assassination attempt on Trump, users noticed that Google would not autocomplete searches related to the attack. In response, Republican lawmakers<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/lawmakers-expand-probe-into-google-meta-over-alleged-censorship-of-trump-assassination-attempt-info"> have launched</a> an investigation into the platform, calling for comprehensive documentation of the company’s policies and programs.

A Democratic National Committee member filed a complaint on Wednesday seeking to have Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein removed from the general election ballot in Wisconsin.
The complaint alleges that the Green Party can&#8217;t nominate presidential electors in Wisconsin and argues that without electors, the Green Party is ineligible to have a candidate on the ballot, the Associated Press <a href="https://apnews.com/article/wisconsin-jill-stein-harris-trump-lawsuit-405e8bae8ff9becfa81a1360708d59a0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Stein was on the ballot in Wisconsin as the Green Party&#8217;s candidate in the 2016 election and received more than 31,000 votes. Former President Donald Trump beat Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in 2016 by just under 23,000 votes, resulting in some Democrats blaming Stein for Trump&#8217;s victory in the swing state.

The DNC complaint alleges that the Green Party does not have a person who is qualified to nominate electors under state law, which says that those who nominate electors must be current state officers or candidates for the state legislature.
“We take the nomination process for President and Vice President very seriously and believe every candidate should follow the rules,” senior adviser to the DNC Adrienne Watson said in a statement. “Because the Wisconsin Green Party hasn’t fielded candidates for legislative or statewide office and doesn’t have any current incumbent legislative or statewide office holders, it cannot nominate candidates and should not be on the ballot in November.”
The Wisconsin Supreme Court <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/14/politics/wisconsin-supreme-court-absentee-ballots-green-party/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ruled</a> in 2020 that the Green Party candidate Howie Hawkins could not be added to the presidential election ballot. The court argued that putting him on the ballot in September after many mail-in ballots had been sent out because of the COVID pandemic would “create a substantial possibility of confusion among voters who had already received, and possibly returned, the original ballots.&#8221; Joe Biden beat Trump in Wisconsin by just over <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/11/03/us/elections/results-wisconsin.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">20,000 votes</a>, a slim margin that could have been significantly affected by a Green Party candidate on the ballot.

A Democrat-backed group petitioned a judge to have Robert F. Kennedy Jr. removed from New York&#8217;s 2024 ballot and succeeded. Earlier this week, the New York judge ruled that Kennedy should not appear on the state&#8217;s ballot, arguing that the independent candidate falsely stated that he was a New York resident on his nominating petitions when he is a resident of California, <a href="https://apnews.com/article/kennedy-rfk-jr-ballot-new-york-residency-faaf0c8d7638cdfcdbe3c4eb7b542eef" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the AP.
Kennedy appealed the ruling, <a href="https://x.com/StefanieSpear/status/1823153435715256574" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stating</a>, “The Democrats are showing contempt for democracy. They aren’t confident they can win at the ballot box, so they are trying to stop voters from having a choice. We will appeal and we will win.”

Ohio Senator and Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance was on the same tarmac as Vice President Kamala Harris in Wisconsin on Wednesday and felt some sympathy for the group of reporters covering the Democratic nominee. It&#8217;s been <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kamala-harris-still-hasnt-done-a-major-interview-15-days-after-biden-dropped-out" target="_blank" rel="noopener">more than two weeks</a> since President Joe Biden dropped out and passed the mantle to Harris and the vice president has yet to do a major interview.
Both Vance&#8217;s and Harris&#8217; planes landed in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, around the same time as both candidates hit the campaign trail in the swing state. Vance took the opportunity to address the reporters waiting for Harris and called on the Democrat to answer more questions from the press.
&#8220;I figured I&#8217;d come by &#8230; hopefully it&#8217;s going to be my plane in a few months,&#8221; Vance said pointing back at Air Force Two. &#8220;I also thought you guys may get lonely because the vice president doesn&#8217;t answer questions from reporters and hasn&#8217;t for seventeen days.&#8221;

RNC Day 4: Trump Takes The Stage In First Major Address Since Failed Assassination

Former President Donald Trump recounted the assassination attempt against his life for the first time in a speech to the Republican National Convention (RNC) on Thursday night.
Trump took to the stage on the final day of the RNC to accept the GOP nomination for president less than a week after a gunman&#8217;s bullet tore through his right ear. He recounted the harrowing moment, which took place on Saturday at a campaign rally in western Pennsylvania, for what he said would be the last time “because it’s actually too painful to tell.”
The former president had just taken the stage at the rally in Butler and was referencing immigration numbers shown on a screen to the side when he was shot.
“In order to see the chart, I started to … turn to my right and was ready to begin a little further turn – which I am very lucky I didn’t do – when I heard a loud whizzing sound and felt something hit me really, really hard on my right ear,” Trump said. “I said to myself, ‘Wow, what was that? It can only be a bullet,’ and moved my right hand to my ear, brought it down. My hand was covered with blood, just absolutely blood all over the place.”
As the president dropped on stage in cover, Secret Service agents rushed to shield him.
“These are great people at great risk, I will tell you, and pounced on top of me so that I will be protected,” Trump said, adding that he felt the presence of God protecting him.
 “There was blood pouring everywhere and yet in a certain way I felt very safe because I had God on my side,” Trump said, evoking cheers from the audience.
“The most incredible aspect of what took place on that terrible evening in the fading sun was actually seen later,” Trump said. The crowd of thousands of his supporters at the Pennsylvania rally did not, generally, fall into chaos or stampede, which could have injured many more people.
“This massive crowd of tens of thousands of people stood by and didn’t move an inch. In fact, many of them bravely but automatically stood up looking for where the sniper would be. They knew immediately it was a sniper, and then began pointing at him,” Trump said.
The former president said that while he was down on the stage, covered by Secret Service agents and bleeding through his right ear, he could see the concern written across the faces of the crowd.
“They didn’t know I was looking out. They thought it was over. But I could see it and I wanted to do something to let them know I was okay,” Trump recounted. “I raised my right arm, looked at the thousands and thousands of people that were breathlessly waiting, and started shouting, ‘Fight, fight, fight.’”
“Once my clenched fist went up, and it was high into the air – you’ve all seen that – the crowd realized I was okay and roared with pride for our country like no crowd I have ever heard before. Never heard anything like it,” Trump said. “For the rest of my life, I will be grateful for the love shown by that giant audience of patriots that stood bravely on that fateful evening in Pennsylvania.”
