WASHINGTON — One of Vice President JD Vance&#8217;s most trusted advisers is set to depart President Donald Trump&#8217;s administration by the end of this summer, flanked by the highest praise from the vice president and top cabinet officials.
Jacob Reses told Vance several months ago that he planned to leave the administration after he and his wife learned they were expecting their first child. Reses has served as Vance&#8217;s chief of staff since January 2025 and has worked closely with him since Vance&#8217;s 2022 Senate campaign in Ohio.
&#8220;Jacob’s been by my side for my whole career in public life,&#8221; the vice president <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/jd-vance/vance-chief-staff-jacob-reses-leave-trump-administration-rcna349586">said</a>. &#8220;I can’t imagine having been on this life-changing journey without him. From day one of my time as a Senator-elect, I could not have asked for a more loyal and discerning advisor and friend as my chief of staff.&#8221;
&#8220;I’ll miss him dearly, but he won’t be far, and I plan to keep his counsel close until our paths cross again,&#8221; added Vance, who gave a toast at Reses&#8217; wedding in January.
Prior to his time working with Vance, Reses worked for Heritage Action, the advocacy arm of the Heritage Foundation, and for Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri.
Reses <a href="https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/jacob-reses-jd-vance-trump-republican-reformer.html">has been described</a> by The New York Intelligencer as &#8220;one of the most influential Republican operatives in Washington,&#8221; focused on &#8220;helping the president’s heir apparent build the intellectual and ideological scaffolding for the post-Trump Republican Party.&#8221;
During his time at the White House, Reses earned the trust and praise of many of Trump&#8217;s top officials, including White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Attorney General Todd Blanche, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff.

Wiles called Reses &#8220;an important part of our White House leadership team&#8221; who has &#8220;served the vice president with absolute distinction,&#8221; as well as humility, discretion, and loyalty.
&#8220;He will be missed in the halls of the West Wing, but he will always be a friend and ally we can all rely upon, and I hope will come back often,&#8221; Wiles said.
Rubio said Reses served Vance and the whole administration with distinction.
&#8220;He understands the moment we’re in, and he spent every day fighting to deliver results for the President,&#8221; Rubio said. &#8220;His intellect, leadership, and humor will be missed.&#8221;
Bessent called Reses&#8217;s counsel &#8220;invaluable,&#8221; while Blanche described him as &#8220;tough, smart, hardworking, and loyal—the perfect combination to succeed in the Trump White House.&#8221;
Witkoff, who traveled with Vance during foreign policy negotiations, praised Reses&#8217;s presence during those efforts.
&#8220;Don’t let Jacob fool you — beneath his kind exterior, he’s a killer,&#8221; he said on Thursday. &#8220;It’s been a delight to get to know him through the vice president, and our foreign adventures from Israel to Pakistan have been historic.&#8221;
&#8220;He commands respect in every room he walks into, and I’ve been proud to have him by my side in negotiating some of the toughest deals for the President,&#8221; Witkoff said, adding, &#8220;We haven’t seen the last of him.&#8221;

Inflation ticked up to 4.2% in May, according to data released Wednesday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. 
The <a href="https://www.bls.gov/news.release/cpi.nr0.htm">4.2%</a> increase was in line with expectations, with analysts predicting a 0.4 percentage-point increase from April&#8217;s 3.8% annual rate. The inflation increase was driven primarily by higher energy costs as oil prices surged amid tensions in the Middle East. The inflation report showed energy prices accounted for more than 60% of the monthly increase in the Consumer Price Index, with gasoline prices rising sharply, up <a href="https://www.bls.gov/news.release/cpi.nr0.htm">8.6%</a> before seasonal adjustment. Shelter costs also continued to climb, rising 0.3% during the month, while food prices increased 0.2%. 
&#8220;It&#8217;s not a good number,&#8221; former Dallas Fed President Richard Fisher <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/video/2026/06/10/former-dallas-fed-pres-fisher-on-may-cpi-expect-continued-pressure-on-the-fixed-income-market.html">told</a> CNBC. &#8220;I think the consumer is under tremendous pressure, and we&#8217;re just going to have to see if this is going to abate.&#8221; 
Fisher added that if he were Fed chair, he would leave interest rates unchanged for now to allow more time to assess the economy.
Stocks, which are edging lower on the data, started the day with a downward trend after President Donald Trump <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/116725476229257491">blasted</a> Iran for taking &#8220;too long to negotiate a deal that would have been great for them.&#8221;

After Trump&#8217;s message, Brent crude oil futures jumped to around <a href="https://www.wsj.com/livecoverage/stock-market-cpi-inflation-06-10-2026/card/trump-post-on-iran-accelerates-stock-sell-off-sends-oil-higher-HJ2tHQj71YFjmz2EFMxF">$93</a> per barrel. Higher energy prices have become the Trump administration’s Achilles&#8217; heel for inflation. After nearly a month of conflict with Iran, the energy index rose 3.9% in May, up from a 3.8% increase in April.
The latest data continues a trend of steadily rising inflation since February. While Federal Reserve policymakers have signaled patience in recent months, the continued acceleration in prices could complicate the central bank&#8217;s path forward. Investors who had hoped for interest rate cuts later this year are now debating whether officials will instead keep rates elevated for longer, or consider additional rate hikes if inflation remains stubbornly high.

The Justice Department is expected to announce Monday an effort to denaturalize 17 foreign-born individuals with significant rap sheets.
The naturalized citizens include fraudsters, sex offenders, and drug traffickers, who the Trump administration is targeting as part of a larger effort to strip the citizenship of certain offenders.
&#8220;Gaining U.S. citizenship is a privilege and under the steadfast leadership of President Trump, this Department of Justice maintains a zero-tolerance policy for the abuse of this process,” Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a statement.
“We continue to work around the clock with our interagency partners to make sure U.S. citizenship is granted to those who truly deserve it,&#8221; Blanche added.
In its latest pursuit, the Justice Department is seeking the denaturalization of Cuban-born U.S. citizen Delmas Garcia, 54, who was convicted of conspiracy to commit health care fraud after she admitted to running 30 physical therapy clinics in Florida that fraudulently billed an insurance company $36,728,595 for services that were not medically necessary or that were never actually provided.
The Trump administration has also set its sights on Haitian-born Jean Claude Alfred, 68, who was sexually abusing his minor daughter while he was applying for his American citizenship, according to the Justice Department. Alfred began abusing his daughter in September 1993, roughly one month before he applied for citizenship, and &#8220;repeatedly&#8221; did so as he waited to become naturalized.
During his application process, Alfred denied having committed any crime for which he hadn&#8217;t been arrested, the Justice Department said. A jury in Florida ultimately convicted Alfred in 1996 of attempted sexual battery of a child in a familial relationship and lewd, lascivious, and indecent assault upon a child under the age of 16.
Alfred became a U.S. citizen in 1994, sparking the Justice Department&#8217;s latest action accusing him of lying during his application process in order to obtain naturalization.
Another target of the latest denaturalization push is Colombian-born Fernando Cristancho, 69, a Roman Catholic priest who used his position in the church to sexually groom and abuse a minor parishioner from age 11 to 13. Cristancho later pleaded guilty to his crime and received a 22-year prison sentence.
The Trump administration alleged that Cristancho concealed his crime from immigration officials in order to obtain his citizenship while also having failed to demonstrate good moral character required for naturalization.
The federal government is also working to denaturalize the daughter of a major Colombian drug trafficker, Andrea Marroquin, 44, who inherited her father&#8217;s riches when he died. Marroquin first got a green card by hiding her bigamous marriage to an American citizen, according to the Justice Department.
Between 2003 and 2011, she used her father&#8217;s drug proceeds to make fraudulent real estate transactions in Miami, the Department of Justice alleged. She allegedly concealed her crimes when she became an American citizen in 2009.
Last June, the Justice Department instructed U.S. attorneys across the country to “prioritize” and “pursue” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-admin-orders-justice-dept-to-denaturalize-new-citizens-convicted-of-crimes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">denaturalization</a> cases against citizens who may “pose a potential danger to national security.&#8221;
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) officials received guidance in December to “supply Office of Immigration Litigation with 100-200 denaturalization cases per month,” <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/12/17/us/politics/trump-immigration-citizenship-denaturalization.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to The New York Times.
The denaturalization effort is also part of the Trump administration&#8217;s &#8220;war on fraud,&#8221; USCIS spokesman Matthew Tragesser said in a previous statement.

The achievement comes directly as a result of President Donald Trump&#8217;s May 2025 <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/05/reforming-nuclear-reactor-testing-at-the-department-of-energy/">executive order</a> setting a July 4 deadline for reactors to reach criticality, a goal many in the energy establishment dismissed as fantasy.
&#8220;The skeptics didn&#8217;t believe President Trump&#8217;s Reactor Pilot Program could achieve criticality in less than a year,&#8221; said Assistant Secretary of Nuclear Energy Ted Garrish. &#8220;Today, we celebrate the first of the pilot projects to reach criticality.&#8221;
Energy Secretary Chris Wright put the moment in its proper historical context. &#8220;It is fitting that on the eve of our nation&#8217;s 250th anniversary, we are witnessing a historic moment for American energy. For the first time in more than four decades, a new privately developed non-light-water reactor has reached criticality in the United States,&#8221; he said.
The Mark-0 is the 53rd reactor built at the Idaho National Laboratory site since 1951 and establishes the basis for subsequent reactors to begin producing electricity in 2027. When commercialized, Antares&#8217; microreactors are expected to power military installations, terrestrial applications, and even space missions.
The announcement marks a stunning reversal of fortune for an industry that was, not long ago, being methodically dismantled.
America&#8217;s nuclear story is one of the great self-inflicted wounds in the history of energy policy. The United States pioneered commercial nuclear power — the Shippingport Atomic Power Station lit up Pittsburgh in 1957 under Eisenhower&#8217;s &#8220;Atoms for Peace&#8221; program — and by the 1970s, utilities had ordered over 200 reactors. Nuclear was going to power the American century.
Then came the activists, the lawyers, and the regulators.
The anti-nuclear movement, born in the 1960s out of California environmentalism, spent two decades grinding the industry down. Protest campaigns, lawsuits, and regulatory obstruction drove construction costs through the roof. When Three Mile Island experienced a partial meltdown in 1979 — an accident that killed no one and caused no measurable increase in cancer — the media frenzy finished what the activists started. More than 100 reactor orders were canceled. No new <a href="https://www.iaea.org/topics/response/fukushima-daiichi-nuclear-accident">plants</a> were ordered for nearly three decades.
The crowning absurdity came on Long Island, where the completed Shoreham Nuclear Power Plant — built at a cost of $6 billion — was <a href="http://large.stanford.edu/courses/2018/ph241/gilbey1/#:~:text=References,%5B4%5D%20J.&amp;text=Kessel%2C%20the%20chairman%20of%20the,to%20burial%20and%20reprocessing%20sites.">decommissioned in 1994</a> without ever generating a single watt of public electricity, because local politicians refused to approve an evacuation plan.
The 2000s brought brief hope of a &#8220;nuclear renaissance,&#8221; but cheap fracking gas and the <a href="https://www.iaea.org/topics/response/fukushima-daiichi-nuclear-accident">2011 Fukushima disaster</a> in Japan killed that momentum. Plants across the country closed. Vermont Yankee, Kewaunee, San Onofre, Indian Point — gone. And perversely, most were replaced not by wind turbines or solar panels, but by <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2024/mar/20/nuclear-plant-closure-carbon-emissions-new-york">natural gas</a>, pumping out the very carbon emissions the plant closures were supposedly meant to prevent.
Meanwhile, American energy demand exploded. The artificial intelligence revolution is leading to a <a href="https://www.bu.edu/peaclab/files/2026/02/Hankendi_AI_Transparency.pdf">tripling of AI data center electricity consumption by 2030</a>. The grid is straining. And the politicians who spent decades killing nuclear are now scrambling for solutions.
Trump&#8217;s executive order seeks to cut through the paralysis, and Antares&#8217; reactor gives the effort a promising development.
The case for nuclear has never been stronger. A uranium fuel pellet the size of a fingertip <a href="https://www.energy.gov/ne/articles/5-reasons-nuclear-good-neighbor">produces as much energy</a> as a ton of coal. Nuclear plants run at over 90% capacity — rain, shine, or dead calm. They emit no carbon, no sulfur dioxide, no particulate matter. And unlike wind and solar, they work around the clock, providing the stable backbone a modern grid requires.
America built this technology. America pioneered it. America then spent 40 years talking itself out of it.
The new announcement suggests that era is over.

New Era For America: First New Reactor Goes Critical Under Trump’s Watch

A federal judge on Friday struck down a Trump administration policy that froze immigration proceedings for applicants from 39 countries after an Afghan refugee was accused of killing a National Guardsman and wounding another in Washington, D.C., <a href="https://apnews.com/article/trump-immigration-asylum-citizenship-10591d120e5cb13da736d9eeb06757c8">according to the Associated Press.</a> 
U.S. District Chief Judge John McConnell Jr. ruled that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services exceeded its legal authority when it halted final decisions on asylum, work permit, green card, and citizenship applications from nationals of dozens of countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East.
The policy was enacted after prosecutors accused Rahmanullah Lakanwal, a 29-year-old Afghan national, of carrying out a deadly shooting in the nation&#8217;s capital the day before Thanksgiving. 
Prosecutors say Lakanwal drove from Bellingham, Washington, to Washington, D.C., and opened fire on National Guard troops, killing U.S. Army Spc. Sarah Beckstrom, 20, and wounding U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe, 24. 
Wolfe, who <a href="https://wjla.com/news/local/andrew-wolfe-skull-reconstruction-deadly-washington-dc-national-guard-shooting-recovery-aphasia-rehabilitation-sarah-beckstrom-rahmanullah-lakanwal-farragut-square-white-house-november-26-2026">underwent skull reconstruction surgery</a>, is making a slow—but remarkable—recovery.
Lakanwal pleaded not guilty to nine charges, including first-degree murder.
Lakanwal entered the United States during former President Joe Biden’s administration after serving alongside U.S. troops in Afghanistan in a CIA-backed unit, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/afghan-refugee-charged-in-national-guard-shooting-appears-in-court-as-death-penalty-looms">The Daily Wire previously reported. </a>
After the shooting, President Donald Trump called for the death penalty and signed off on the immigration restrictions, citing national security concerns.
“This order aims to safeguard U.S. citizens from aliens who may seek to commit terrorist acts, pose threats to national security, promote hateful ideologies, or exploit immigration laws for malicious purposes,” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-halts-immigration-from-19-high-risk-countries-following-national-guard-shooting">the administration said at the time.</a>
In the <a href="https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.rid.61671/gov.uscourts.rid.61671.28.0.pdf">135-page opinion</a> issued Friday, McConnell sharply criticized the policy and the government&#8217;s implementation of it.  
McConnell said the restrictions “threw the lives of countless immigrants living in the United States into indeterminate legal limbo” and said USCIS exceeded its legal authority, failed to explain its policy changes, and accused USCIS of leaning on “anti-immigrant sentiments.” 
“Over six months later, many of those individuals remain without work, without legal status, and without any meaningful ability to plan for their futures,” Judge McConnell wrote.  “In legal terms, that means USCIS’s actions are contrary to law and arbitrary and capricious.”
Democracy Forward, a legal nonprofit that helped represent the immigration groups behind the lawsuit, <a href="https://democracyforward.org/news/press-releases/federal-court-vacates-trump-vance-administration-policies-targeting-immigrants-based-on-country-of-origin/">celebrated the ruling.</a>
“This ruling reaffirms a basic principle: the federal government cannot shut down lawful immigration pathways or discriminate against people based on where they come from,” Skye Perryman, President and CEO of Democracy Forward, said. 
The decision marks a significant defeat for the White House, which is expected to appeal.

No taxes on tips became reality. Republicans have shown that when they are united, they can govern with speed and purpose.
The chance to shape history is rare. Right now, Congress has that chance — and the clock is ticking.
But one major promise remains unfinished: making America the crypto capital of the world.
The good news is that Congress can finish the job — and deliver the perfect birthday gift to America in the process.
When the Senate Banking Committee <a href="https://www.banking.senate.gov/newsroom/majority/chairman-scott-senate-banking-committee-advance-clarity-act-in-historic-bipartisan-vote">advanced</a> the Clarity Act with bipartisan support, it sent a clear signal that lawmakers understand what is at stake. Even more encouraging, Senator Cynthia Lummis recently <a href="https://www.binance.com/en-TR/square/post/06-04-2026-senator-lummis-expects-clarity-act-passage-by-august-recess-330303642523329">suggested</a> the legislation could reach President Trump&#8217;s desk by July 4. The opportunity is real. The momentum is real. But momentum means nothing if Congress allows delay to become defeat.
The forces opposing this legislation understand they are losing the argument. That&#8217;s why they aren&#8217;t trying to defeat it outright. They&#8217;re trying to delay it.
Slow it down. Demand more studies. Hold more hearings. Push it past July 4. Kick it into election season.
Washington calls it &#8220;process.&#8221; The American people call it failure.
The digital asset revolution isn&#8217;t coming — it&#8217;s already here. The only question is whether America leads it or watches from the sidelines while competitors race ahead.
President Trump has made his position clear: America should be the crypto capital of the world.
He&#8217;s right.
The nations that lead digital assets, blockchain technology, and next-generation finance will enjoy a significant economic advantage for decades to come. America can either write the rules or live under someone else’s.
There is no third option.
China understands what&#8217;s at stake. Beijing is investing aggressively in the technologies that will define the next century because it wants to dominate the infrastructure of tomorrow&#8217;s global economy.
Congress should not hand China that opportunity.
For more than two centuries, America has led the world in the most important innovations—from the Industrial Revolution to the Internet Revolution. There&#8217;s no reason to surrender leadership now.
The stakes extend far beyond cryptocurrency. This is about whether the next generation of financial innovation is built in America or overseas, whether American workers benefit from that growth, and whether consumers gain access to faster, cheaper, and more efficient financial tools.
The current system rewards gatekeepers and middlemen. The American people deserve better.
Trump voters support it. Independent voters support it. Young voters support it. Entrepreneurs support it. Small-business owners support it.
Lawmakers should also recognize that not every bill moving through Washington has a clear path forward. The ROAD to Housing Act passed the House with several toxic Maxine Waters amendments that complicate its prospects for timely advancement in the Senate. Housing affordability remains an important priority, but with the housing package facing a rocky road and the Clarity Act gaining momentum by the day, the choice should be obvious for legislators looking for their next major bipartisan win.
The legislative calendar is shrinking. Campaign season is approaching. Every day without Congressional action makes success more difficult.
America&#8217;s 250th birthday should be more than a celebration of our past — it should be a declaration about our future.
Passing the Clarity Act before July 4 would do more than fulfill a campaign promise. It would demonstrate that America still has the courage to lead. Congress has a chance to send a message heard around the world: the United States is not retreating from innovation, surrendering to bureaucracy, or allowing Beijing to dictate the future.
America intends to win the race, lead the future, and remain the world&#8217;s economic powerhouse for generations to come.
With bipartisan support growing and momentum building, Congress has a rare opportunity to deliver a victory that is both symbolic and substantive.
The question is whether lawmakers will seize it — or let it slip away.

While President Donald Trump lost his sweeping tariffs after the Supreme Court ruled against his use of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), United States Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said on Tuesday that tariffs are far from over.
“What we are doing now is we have investigations ongoing in my office and we are investigating specific unfair trading practices,” Greer <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/video/2026/06/02/u-s-trade-rep-greer-were-investigating-specific-unfair-trade-practices-by-different-countries.html">told</a> CNBC. “You will see over the next few weeks, we will be releasing our findings. We are covering a lot of countries, over 70 countries. If we find unfair trading practices — structural excess capacity, forced labor, things like this — we will put out proposals on how we think we should fix it and that may be proposed tariffs.” 
Trump initially relied on IEEPA because it allowed him to impose broad tariffs quickly without the lengthy investigative processes required under traditional trade laws.
“When the president used his emergency authority he was able to move very quickly to get at this issue, get a lot of leverage, and impose tariffs,” Greer explained.
After the Supreme Court blocked Trump&#8217;s use of IEEPA earlier this year, the administration turned to Section 122 and implemented a temporary 10% tariff on February 24. But unlike the tariffs announced on &#8220;Liberation Day&#8221; in April 2025, Section 122 tariffs are temporary by law and were later struck down by the U.S. Court of International Trade.
With those options curtailed, the administration has shifted its focus to Sections 301 and 232: the two principal trade authorities that require the involvement of Greer and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.
Greer said the results of his Section 301 investigations would be released in the coming weeks, which could introduce new tariffs across the world. Under Section 301, the Office of the United States Trade Representative investigates whether foreign countries are engaging in unfair trade practices, gathers evidence, solicits public comments, and holds hearings before recommending tariffs or other trade restrictions. 
That is the same authority Trump used to impose tariffs on China during his first term. Those tariffs survived legal challenges, but investigations typically take between three and nine months to complete, making them slower and less useful as an immediate negotiating tool than emergency tariff authorities.
Lutnick, like Greer, can also launch investigations, not into unfair trade practices, but into industries that are crucial to national security. Unlike Greer’s Section 301 investigations, which focus on unfair trade practices, Lutnick’s Section 232 investigations examine whether imports threaten industries deemed critical to national security. Those investigations allowed Trump to impose tariffs if the Commerce Department determines that a strategic industry is vulnerable because of import dependence. 
The department began launching Section 232 investigations just weeks after Trump returned to office. Global Trade Alert <a href="https://globaltradealert.org/blog/s232-expanding-when-ieepa-fell">observed</a> that Section 232 “had never stopped expanding” and noted that the administration had launched, relaunched, or expanded roughly 20 actions from the section before the Supreme Court ruled against Trump&#8217;s IEEPA tariffs, suggesting the White House was already building alternative pathways for trade restrictions.
The pathway no longer available is Trump&#8217;s ability to wield tariffs during negotiations.
In January, he threatened to impose tariffs on countries that do business with Iran, citing the country’s repression of protesters, support for proxy terrorist groups, and continued pursuit of nuclear capabilities. In negotiations with China, Trump warned that tariffs would increase if China continued withholding rare earth minerals from the United States. Rare earth minerals are vital for products ranging from household appliances and automobiles to semiconductors for artificial intelligence chips.
The delay in collecting additional tariff revenue could raise budget concerns, with Trump repeatedly claiming that tariffs would help fund the extension of his 2017 tax cuts in the &#8220;Big Beautiful Bill.&#8221;

“Tomorrow I&#8217;m instructing Dan [Scavino] and everybody else that&#8217;s involved in that very complicated process, which is gonna go, I think, very quickly, that we are going to make him permanent Attorney General,&#8221; Trump said during an event at the White House. 
A video of Trump’s comments was posted by White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino, who wrote, &#8220;congratulations” to Blanche and the Justice Department.

Blanche became acting attorney general in April after Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pam-bondi-out-as-ag-following-months-of-epstein-controversy-criticism-over-lack-of-prosecutions">decided</a> to move on from Pam Bondi. Trump was reportedly frustrated with the lack of criminal prosecutions of Democrats he believed weaponized their positions against him. Bondi also faced much criticism over her handling of files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. 
At one point it appeared as if Trump was considering other options, including EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, to officially take the helm of the Justice Department, but it appears he has decided to stick with Blanche. 
During an appearance this week on “Pod Force One,” Trump described Blanche as a “very talented guy” and said he was doing “a very good job” at the Justice Department. When asked by reporter Miranda Devine if he believed Blanche would become attorney general, the president said, “I ​think he will.” 
Under Blanche, the Justice Department brought renewed charges against former FBI Director James Comey, along with charges against the Southern Poverty Law Center and a scientist who once served as a top aide to Anthony Fauci. 
Blanche worked on multiple Trump defense teams after his first term as president ended, including the case involving accusations that he falsified business records in New York during the “hush money” case. He also worked to defend Trump against the charges brought by former special counsel Jack Smith related to the president’s handling of classified documents and the 2020 election. 
To become attorney general, Blanche would need to be confirmed by the Senate. He was confirmed as deputy attorney general in a 52-46 vote, but would likely face questions about the scrapped $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is backing a new congressional resolution that calls for phasing out U.S. military aid to Israel and replacing it with a joint strategic partnership between the longtime allies.
The resolution, introduced Wednesday by Rep. Marlin Stutzman (R-IN) after a meeting with Netanyahu in Jerusalem last week, <a href="https://stutzman.house.gov/media/press-releases/rep-stutzman-introduces-resolution-transition-us-israel-relations">calls</a> for ending the current military aid framework and replacing it with expanded cooperation on defense technology, intelligence sharing, weapons development, and strategic planning.
The proposal reflects a position Netanyahu has increasingly embraced over the past year: that Israel should reduce its dependence on American military assistance and build a more self-sufficient defense industry while maintaining a close alliance with Washington.
“As I said in our meeting in Jerusalem on May 27, 2026, Israel deeply appreciates the financial component of the military aid the United States has generously provided us over the years,” Netanyahu wrote <a href="https://stutzman.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/stutzman.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/usa-rep-marlin-stutzman-defense-cooperation-1.6.26.pdf.pdf">in a letter</a> endorsing the legislation. “The time has now arrived for us to move from aid recipient to partner.”
Israel receives roughly $3.8 billion annually in U.S. military aid under a long-standing memorandum of understanding between the two countries. Most of that funding must be spent on American-made military equipment and defense systems.
Stutzman said the resolution would mark “a new era” in the U.S.-Israel alliance.
“Above all, the United States and Israel stand together against totalitarianism and for freedom,” Stutzman said in a statement. “We are bound by the shared Western values that built both our nations.”
“This resolution affirms that the United States stands with Israel not out of obligation, but out of shared strength and shared strategic interest. Israel has come of age where our nations should contribute equally and share results equally.”
Supporters of the move argue the current aid structure no longer reflects Israel’s military and economic strength, noting that Israel is now one of the world’s top arms exporters and spends a larger share of its GDP on defense than nearly every NATO ally. Backers also say the plan aligns with President Donald Trump’s broader foreign policy approach of encouraging allied nations to take greater responsibility for their own defense while maintaining close strategic partnerships with the United States.
Even U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, a decades-long supporter of Israel, suggested this week that the future of the relationship lies beyond traditional aid, arguing that the alliance already delivers significant returns for the United States.
“Israel receives $3.8 billion but spends far more than that buying U.S. military goods,” Huckabee <a href="https://x.com/GovMikeHuckabee/status/2061406904140845427?s=20">wrote on X</a>. “U.S. also receives intel, tech innovations so that ROI is many times more.”
He added that a future U.S.-Israel memorandum of understanding could reflect that shift, writing: “New MOU w/ Israel ends aid &amp; will be based on trade.”
Israeli leaders have increasingly argued that dependence on foreign weapons shipments creates vulnerabilities during wartime. Those concerns intensified after the Biden administration temporarily <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-halts-weapons-shipments-to-idf-to-send-a-political-message-to-israel-report">halted a shipment</a> of heavy bombs and threatened to withhold offensive weapons if Israel launched an assault on Rafah. It wasn’t until Trump took office that all of the weapons were <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-releases-weapons-to-israel-that-biden-withheld-for-political-reasons">shipped</a>. 
Netanyahu recently <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/netanyahu-israeli-soldiers-lost-their-lives-in-gaza-due-to-biden-era-arms-embargo/">blamed</a> the embargo for the death of soldiers because of the lack of ammunition. 
“At a certain stage, we simply didn’t have enough ammunition and people fell, heroes fell,” he said. “Part of that shortage of ammunition was the result of an embargo.”
During Operation Protective Edge in 2014, the Obama administration <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/israeli-official-confirms-us-nixed-missile-sale-pm-blamed-for-soured-ties/?utm_source=chatgpt.com">suspended a shipment</a> of Hellfire missiles and increased oversight of weapons transfers.
Retired Israeli Brigadier General Amir Avivi told The Daily Wire that episodes like those convinced many Israeli defense officials that the country needed greater manufacturing independence. 
“This really shook the Israeli defense establishment and an understanding that you cannot really rely, during a moment of truth, on getting what we need,” Avivi said.
Avivi added that he reached a similar conclusion while serving as chief auditor of Israel&#8217;s defense establishment in 2014.  
“We really lacked the capabilities because we transferred many capabilities to the U.S., and this really hurt our readiness but also our sovereignty — our ability as a country to defend ourselves,” he said. 

Other Israeli officials and defense analysts argue that the current aid structure has made Israel increasingly reliant on American suppliers while weakening incentives to expand domestic production. Under the military aid agreement negotiated during the Obama administration, the percentage of U.S. aid that Israel can spend on its own defense industry has steadily declined — from 25% to just 11% this year — and is scheduled to reach zero by 2028, a change critics say undermines Israel’s long-term military independence.
When unveiling his $108 billion, decade-long plan to build an independent Israeli munitions industry, Netanyahu emphasized the goal to “reduce our dependence on all players, including friends.”
Israel is already one of the world’s leading arms exporters, generating roughly $19 billion in weapons sales in 2025, but it remains dependent on foreign suppliers for key munitions and military equipment.
Advocates of the transition also contend that ending aid would strengthen political support for the alliance in the United States because it “creates antagonism both among the hard right and the delusional left.” 
“In the United States, some — such as Tucker Carlson — use the aid to attack Israel,” Avivi said. “They ask why American taxpayers are funding Israel and its wars. Israel wants to remove this argument entirely and say: ‘We don’t want aid.’”
Lawyer and Israeli activist Ran Bar-Yoshafat told The Daily Wire that ending aid would reduce both political friction and foreign leverage over Israeli military operations. 
“The use of force is constrained according to American preferences,” Bar-Yoshafat, a reservist combat special forces officer, said. “The Americans, depending on the administration and military establishment, routinely dictate what weapons we can use and where in the field.”

Since beginning his second term in office, President Donald Trump has moved to banish diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) from the federal grant process through executive orders. Rep. Ralph Norman, a Republican from South Carolina, wants to ensure those racially-focused requirements, once implemented by the nation’s largest funders of scientific research, do not return.  
“Taxpayer-funded research should be awarded based on merit, innovation, and results, not DEI-driven activist handouts,” Norman told The Daily Wire. “Americans are tired of watching universities prioritize ideological checkboxes over achievement.”

The bill, known as the Merit Restoration Act, states that federal research agencies “may not use any prohibited diversity, equity, or inclusion practice in awarding, evaluating, or continuing a Federal research grant.”
In archived pages, the National Science Foundation, which has an annual budget of more than $8 billion, <a href="https://www.nsf.gov/funding/opportunities/bpe-broadening-participation-engineering/505962/nsf22-514/solicitation">said</a> one of the agency&#8217;s main priorities was increasing the participation of “underrepresented groups” and women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. 
This focus was reflected in the agency&#8217;s Broadening Participation in Engineering <a href="https://www.nsf.gov/funding/opportunities/bpe-broadening-participation-engineering/505632/pd19-7680">program,</a> designed to increase the involvement of racial and sexual minorities in engineering. It defined underrepresented races as people who are black, Hispanic, American Indians, and Pacific Islander.

Other NSF grants have also been used to fund travel to academic <a href="https://www2024.thewebconf.org/attending/nsf-student-travel-awards/">conferences</a> that <a href="https://www.wsdm-conference.org/2024/nsf-student-travel-awards/">gave</a> &#8220;priority&#8221; for scholarships to individuals from “underrepresented groups.” 
Another example listed by Norman’s office was an NIH research education program <a href="https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-CA-21-020.html">focused</a> on “educational activities that encourage individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those from groups underrepresented in the biomedical and behavioral sciences, to pursue further studies or careers in research.”
These types of programs came as NIH had an official statement on its “interest in diversity” that said that it encouraged “institutions to diversify their student and faculty populations to enhance the participation of individuals from groups that are underrepresented in the biomedical, clinical, behavioral, and social sciences.”
That NIH page has been <a href="https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-20-031.html">deleted</a> as the Trump administration has moved to eliminate DEI-focused funding. 
The Trump administration has also faced litigation over its decision to terminate more than 1,000 grants related to DEI or radical gender ideology. In December 2025, the agency agreed to a settlement to review grants on a standardized case-by-case basis. Many of the projects impacted were kept sealed from the public record, making it difficult to determine exactly which grants were involved.
“Federal research dollars should support the strongest proposals and the best science, whether in medicine, engineering, or scientific innovation, not political agendas,” Norman told The Daily Wire. “That’s what taxpayers expect and deserve.”

A Kenyan court on Friday temporarily blocked the Trump administration’s plan to establish a U.S.-run Ebola quarantine and treatment facility in Kenya, throwing uncertainty into Washington’s strategy for handling Americans exposed to the rapidly growing outbreak in central Africa.
The ruling came just as U.S. officials said the field hospital at Laikipia Air Base in central Kenya was set to begin operations.
The temporary restraining order, issued by Kenya’s High Court pending a June 2 hearing, halts the establishment and operation of the facility after legal activists argued the agreement endangered Kenyan citizens and lacked public transparency. “At its core, the case is about preserving constitutional accountability, protecting public health, and ensuring that no government may place expediency above the lives and safety of the people of Kenya,” the Katiba Institute, the legal advocacy group behind the lawsuit, wrote in a <a href="https://x.com/katibainstitute/status/2059984532292403470">statement</a> on X.
The proposed facility was intended to quarantine and treat American citizens exposed to Ebola during the ongoing outbreak centered in the Democratic Republic of Congo. U.S. officials said the site would initially hold up to 50 patients, with plans to potentially expand capacity to 250 beds.
The Trump administration <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/05/26/us/politics/trump-ebola-kenya.html">unveiled</a> the Kenya plan Wednesday as part of a broader effort to prevent Ebola from entering the United States. Secretary of State Marco Rubio <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/worries-spread-as-ebola-outbreak-hits-grim-milestone">said</a> during a White House Cabinet meeting that the administration “cannot and will not allow any cases of Ebola to enter the United States.” 
Under the plan, Americans exposed to Ebola would first be sent to Kenya for quarantine and treatment before severe cases could potentially be transferred to advanced medical facilities in Europe.
The administration has defended the strategy as medically and logistically sound, arguing that treatment closer to the outbreak zone would reduce transport times and help contain the virus overseas. The current outbreak involves the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola, for which there is currently no approved vaccine or targeted therapeutic treatment.
According to health officials, the outbreak has now surpassed 1,000 suspected and confirmed cases, with nearly 250 suspected deaths reported so far. The outbreak has proven especially difficult to contain because it is concentrated in eastern Congo, a region plagued by armed militias, population displacement, and instability surrounding valuable mineral mining operations.
Health experts warn that the actual number of infections may be significantly higher due to delayed detection and challenges in tracing contacts in conflict zones.
Kenya’s medical community has also voiced alarm over the American quarantine proposal. Some doctors and union officials argued the facility could effectively create an Ebola entry point inside a country that has not yet reported any confirmed cases. 
“Our concern is that this is being done with the interest of the Americans, and there’s no interest of the Kenyan citizens,” Kenya doctors union secretary general Davji Atellah told <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2026/05/29/kenya-court-temporarily-blocks-us-plan-ebola-quarantine-facility/">reporters</a>.
The Kenyan government has defended its cooperation with Washington, insisting the arrangement complies with Kenyan law and public health safeguards. Meanwhile, the Trump administration has intensified travel restrictions tied to the outbreak. Last week, the U.S. banned travelers from Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan and announced that American citizens arriving from those countries may enter only through three designated airports for enhanced screening.
The Kenyan court’s ruling now leaves the administration without a clear backup plan if additional Americans are exposed to Ebola in the coming days.

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart recently came under fire from the Left — and one of his own <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/muslim-nfl-players-post-criticizing-pro-trump-teammate-backfires">teammates</a> — for introducing President Donald Trump at a rally, prompting the president to defend him this week. 
In an interview with <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/sports/trump-backs-giants-qb-jaxson-dart-rally-appearance-backlash">Fox News</a>, Trump was asked about the controversy and began by complimenting Dart’s appearance and skill on the football field.
“I wished I looked just like Jaxson,” Trump said. “I said, is he a male model or what? He’s a handsome guy, like a beautiful guy, and a, you know, conservative guy… He’s potentially a good quarterback, he’s a young boy and he just really started. And when he’s in the game, he moves the team.”
Trump then said that the pushback from the Left will only increase Dart&#8217;s popularity among conservative Americans. 
“So, when Jaxson gets harassed a little bit, he’s also loved more, because we have more people than they do,” Trump said.
Dart has endured sharp backlash from the Left due to his appearance at the Suffern, New York, rally last Friday, including <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/muslim-nfl-players-post-criticizing-pro-trump-teammate-backfires">criticism</a> from his Muslim teammate, edge rusher Abdul Carter.
Dart addressed his fellow teammates during a Tuesday team meeting to explain his actions and fix any conflict, and Carter has said that he and Dart have made up.
&#8220;Me &amp; JD6 are good!&#8221; he <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/articles/why-jaxson-dart-addressed-donald-140151172.html">wrote on X</a>. &#8220;We spoke earlier as Men. Y&#8217;all can keep y&#8217;all narratives.&#8221;
Dart has not vocally backed Trump, but he has liked many MAGA-related posts on social media, as well as posted in an Instagram story last year that he was praying for Charlie Kirk’s family after the famed political commentator’s assassination.
Dart is not the first New York Giant to support Trump at a rally. Former Giants players Lawrence Taylor and Ottis Anderson both <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgeLzZk4InE">joined</a> the president at a New Jersey rally in 2024.
