Rapper Nicki Minaj is finally discussing what led her to reveal herself as a proud Trump supporter, a stance she claims to have held long before publicly backing the president.
The 43-year-old recording artist went into detail about her journey to MAGA town during an <a href="https://time.com/article/2026/05/14/nicki-minaj-trump/">interview</a> with Time published Wednesday.
“I felt that way already about him, just that I didn’t dare act like that publicly,” Minaj told the outlet, saying she feared backlash both from the Left-leaning music industry and from fans. “It’s been ingrained in everyone’s brain in the music business that we are supposed to be a Democratic family. I just knew they would not like me supporting Trump.”
The “Super Bass” singer said she wasn’t happy with former president Barack Obama because of comments he made about black men being uncomfortable with a female president while campaigning for Kamala Harris in 2024.
&#8220;I just saw so many videos of black men saying that they didn’t like the way they felt about that speech that Obama gave,” she added. “They felt like they weren’t being listened to.”
Minaj mentioned that Obama’s association with rapper Jay-Z didn’t help matters, for her and for her peers. &#8220;I think Jay-Z ended up costing Obama a lot, whether he knows it or not,&#8221; she said. &#8220;Lots of rappers don’t like Jay-Z and were afraid to say it.”
The singer said a series of “swatting” attacks in 2022 and 2023 also steered her away from Democrats and further into the Trump camp. Swatting refers to individuals calling in fake emergencies and sending law enforcement to someone’s location.
Minaj said she reached out to California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom for help, but he never got back to her.
“He just completely ignored me, with all the money I spent in taxes,&#8221; she told Time.
Then in 2025, Minaj was swatted again, and Florida Republican Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna put her in touch with federal law enforcement and a private security team.
“I was shocked,” she said of Luna&#8217;s response. &#8220;I&#8217;d never seen anyone in politics treat me that way.&#8221;
It was also a turning point, Minaj said, adding, &#8220;That&#8217;s what made me say that I don&#8217;t care to keep this a secret anymore.&#8221; 
Despite massive backlash after calling herself “the president’s number one fan” and making several appearances at White House events in support of his administration, Minaj told the outlet she’s “never felt happier.&#8221;
&#8220;I’ve never felt better. When you can be yourself, you’re happier,” she concluded.

The new Hollywood Blacklist, by comparison, is out in the open. Conservative artists, beware. Sharing your point of view can cost you. Dearly.
Yet very few industry types will admit or decry it. And we’re seeing even more evidence of it.

Cheryl Hines has been working nonstop for decades, even if we all know her best as Larry’s exasperated wife (then ex-wife) on HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”
But a funny thing happened to Hines on the way to her husband Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.&#8217;s endorsement of Donald Trump.
The roles dried up.
The in-demand comic actress hasn’t had a new gig since “Curb” wrapped two years ago. Is she turning work down? Or did her phone stop ringing? What could have changed?
Hines has been polite on the subject in a barrage of interviews, suggesting her Hollywood friendships have strained under that political weight. She also isn’t a part of Larry David’s upcoming HBO comedy series, an untitled satire co-produced by the Obamas.
The Daily Mail added that the Obamas <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-15000917/Cheryl-Hines-Larry-David-new-HBO-barack-michelle-obama.html">won’t allow Hines</a> to be part of the show.
She even got <a href="https://x.com/bradleywhitford/status/1827444691316732393?lang=en">called out</a> by Emmy winner Bradley Whitford on social media for her political ties.

She also may have lost a long-term friendship with former podcast partner Tig Notaro. The two <a href="https://people.com/tig-notaro-reflects-on-strange-friendship-fallout-from-cheryl-hines-over-rfk-jr-trump-ties-11923515">hosted “Tig and Cheryl: True Story”</a> for three years before ending the show in May of 2023. Notaro helped end the show due to Hines’ husband’s political aspirations, though it’s unclear why that element had to be a show stopper.

Notaro suggests politics didn’t end their friendship, although it clearly forced her to quit the podcast.

Others in Hollywood likely did just that to Hines. The Hollywood Reporter even suggested that would <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/politics-news/cheryl-hines-rfk-jr-drop-presidential-race-trump-1235981992/">happen due to her political ties</a>. The actress has been on the Left for some time, for what it’s worth, but she’s being judged based on her husband’s views.
Dennis Quaid has defied the new Hollywood Blacklist. For now.
The 71-year-old screen legend stays busy, including a supporting turn in the new Netflix action romp “War Machine.” He even starred as the title character in 2024’s “Reagan” and admitted to being a President Donald Trump supporter during the film’s publicity push.

Still, the work keeps on coming. That’s more common with established, Right-leaning actors like Tim Allen, Kelsey Grammer, and Jon Voight. But Quaid’s political leanings, which he describes as more independent than doctrinaire conservative, still found him singled out by a peer.
A peer who recently joined him on screen.
Nick Offerman and Quaid worked together on last year’s “Sovereign,” the story of an anti-government zealot (Offerman) who pushes his conspiracy theories too far.
Offerman didn’t share a negative word about his time on the set with Quaid on the “Lovett or Leave It” podcast with former Obama speechwriter Jon Lovett. Instead, he insulted the actor <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qg2smuJfxN8&amp;t=1s">for thinking the “wrong” way</a>.
“Right after we finished the movie, he suddenly came out with a gospel country record and went on Tucker Carlson and f***ing [Sean] Hannity to play his Trump gospel songs,” Offerman said. 
“What? He’s a hero of my life. I’ve looked up to him. He’s a great actor.”

Later, the “Parks &amp; Recreation” alum doubled down on both Dennis and brother Randy Quaid. The latter worked in Hollywood for years, but a <a href="https://abcnews.com/Entertainment/randy-quaid-wife-evi-hollywood-refugees-exclusive-interview/story?id=12020421">series of bizarre incidents</a> coaxed his exit from the industry.
“[Randy Quaid] was very crazy, and he went away, but Dennis kept it under wraps until last year,” he continued. “But he’s now gone.”
The Blacklist-style bigotry isn’t relegated to the film industry. Hip hop superstar Nicki Minaj didn’t don a red MAGA hat during President Trump’s first term, but in recent months, she noticed how the Republican leader <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-deep-sense-of-gratitude-nicki-minaj-praises-trump-for-action-on-persecuted-christians">supported Christians being persecuted in Nigeria</a>.

That resonated with her, and she eventually threw her celebrity cache behind the unorthodox leader. Within weeks, she became the comic target of Grammy host Trevor Noah at the gala’s annual soiree.

He then broke out his Trump impression as the Tony crowd chortled.

Her crime? Being an independent thinker, and no progressive star in Hollywood or the music industry had her back.
And actress Katherine Heigl could be next. The once-in-demand star of “Grey’s Anatomy” appeared in public earlier this month to support the Big Dog Ranch Rescue gala at Mar-A-Lago, Trump’s private retreat.

She even brought her mom to the red carpet gala.
Heigl had to make a public statement after appearing at the apolitical event, defending her passion for worthy causes by saying, <a href="https://pagesix.com/2026/03/11/celebrity-news/katherine-heigl-hits-back-at-fans-politicizing-her-attendance-at-mar-a-lago-rescue-event/">“animals don’t vote.”</a> Could that one appearance impact her chances at a Hollywood comeback?
Ask Offerman.
And this is the stuff we see in public, not the behind-the-scenes cancellations and attacks. It’s likely far worse there.
The unofficial conservative blacklist may have weakened in recent months, with high-profile stars like Zachary Levi and Sylvester Stallone supporting Trump without overt blowback.
In some ways the bigotry against Right-leaning artists is as strong as ever.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom is facing backlash after attempting to “relate” to a black elected official by pointing to his low SAT score — a moment critics say exposes the casual, patronizing racism Democrats routinely accuse others of harboring.
During a Sunday night appearance promoting his forthcoming memoir, &#8220;Young Man in a Hurry,&#8221; Newsom told Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens that he wasn’t trying to appear superior.
“I’m like you. I’m not better than you,” Newsom said. “I’m a 960 SAT guy.”

The remark immediately drew scrutiny for what critics described as an implicit assumption: that academic underperformance is a shared point of identity with black Americans. According to 2024 College Board data, the average SAT score for black test takers is 907, compared with 1083 for white students.
Newsom, seemingly aware of the sensitivity of his comments, added, “I’m not trying to offend anyone,” before continuing to emphasize his academic shortcomings. “You’ve never seen me read a speech because I cannot read a speech,” he said.
The episode has fueled accusations of what Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) <a href="https://x.com/tedcruz/status/2025802434036081116">labeled</a> the “soft bigotry of low expectations,” a phrase long used to describe leftist rhetoric that cloaks condescension in empathy. This comes after Cruz and Newsom got into an earlier <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/historically-illiterate-cruz-scorches-newsom-after-ca-governor-compares-federal-troops-to-nazis">spat</a> over Newsom’s illiteracy.
The irony is difficult to miss. Newsom has built his political brand on elite credentials and progressive moral posturing, yet his own biography is steeped in institutional advantage. He graduated from Santa Clara University in 1989, having received a letter of recommendation from then-Gov. Jerry Brown, who had appointed Newsom’s father to a California appellate judgeship.
Newsom has insisted the recommendation played no role in his admission, telling The New York Times earlier this month that his acceptance came through a partial baseball scholarship. Still, critics argue the governor’s attempt to downplay privilege while leaning on racial signaling only underscores the contradiction.
As recently as a few weeks ago, Newsom framed himself as the moral referee of American discourse, condemning what he called racist imagery allegedly shared by Donald Trump and aimed at Barack Obama and Michelle Obama. 
Newsom insisted the offense should have ended careers, demanded public contrition, and warned that allowing such rhetoric to pass unpunished degraded the country. Now, just weeks later, Newsom himself is actively circulating racially charged tropes, of the President’s video, he said, “It’s disgraceful. It&#8217;s racist. It&#8217;s abhorrent, the President of the United States sending out a racist trope should disgust every human being in this room.”
Public reaction was swift. Rapper Nicki Minaj weighed in, scorching Gavin Newsom in a lengthy post, accusing him of deliberately talking down to a black audience.
“His way of bonding with black ppl is to tell them how stupid he is &amp; that he can’t read,” she wrote. “This means my first read on him was correct. He’s been handed so many things &amp; put in high positions he never earned or deserved.
“Do you wanna know the craziest part of this footage that will haunt him forever? He’s literally slowing his speech down &amp; talking in a sporadic cadence.
“He’s not just TELLING them that they’re all probably stupid &amp; probably can’t read, he’s LITERALLY SLOW-ING-DOWN-HIS-SPEECH to make them understand the words that are coming out of his mouth!!!! As if they’re children!!!! That means he REALLY BELIEVES they’re slow. He’s not just saying it—he didn’t misspeak!!!! He BELIEVES it!!!!
“Do ya love it?!?! Do ya just love it, black ppl?!?!?”
Representative Randy Fine (R-FL) wrote on <a href="https://x.com/RepFine/status/2025775394696097928">X</a> that Newsom “just said he is like a black person because he got a bad SAT score and can’t read,” calling the remark “disgusting.” 
Newsom offered a <a href="https://x.com/gavinnewsom/status/2025944365114290457?s=46&amp;t=o-U3qwC25WnWaylJ0oeG7Q">tepid response</a> on Monday, attempting to deflect from the seeming racial implications of his statements by bringing up his dyslexia again.
&#8220;You didn’t give a sh*t about the President of the United States of America posting an ape video of President Obama or calling African nations sh*tholes,&#8221; Newsom wrote in response to Fox News&#8217; Sean Hannity, &#8220;but you’re going to call me racist for talking about my lifelong struggle with dyslexia? Spare me your fake f*cking outrage, Sean.&#8221;
For a party that relentlessly polices language and lectures Americans about implicit bias, Newsom’s remarks offer a revealing glimpse into how Democratic elites often talk when they think they’re being relatable, reducing minority voters to stereotypes, then congratulating themselves for empathy.

Over the weekend, famed rapper Nicki Minaj posted a message on X that went astonishingly viral, with 55 million views, in which she decried the efforts of leftists to quash the idea of voter ID, which would require voters to show a photo identification to vote.

As a CNN poll revealed on Tuesday, the vast majority of Americans agree with her.
“The American people are with Nicki Minaj,” CNN pollster Harry Enten declared. “I got all this polling on the screen going back since 2018. You&#8217;ll notice on all of it, it&#8217;s all north of 75 percent, 76 percent, 76 percent, 76 percent, 81 percent, and then 83 percent in the last year of Americans. Agree with Nicki Minaj, they favor photo ID to be able to vote.&#8221;
“What about by party? What&#8217;s the party breakdown?” CNN anchor John Berman asked.
“Normally you might expect, hey, there&#8217;d be a big divide by party with Republicans really for it and Democrats really against it,” Enten replied. “But not really here. I mean just take a look here, favor photo ID to vote. You got 95 percent of Republicans, pretty much all of them, but even 71 percent of Democrats favor photo ID to vote. So again, Nicki Minaj posting that on X. And what you see is, is that the American people — actually it&#8217;s not really all that controversial. The American people are with Nicki Minaj, whether they are Republican or even if they are Democrats. We&#8217;re talking about seven in ten Democrats agreeing with Nicki Minaj that you, in fact, should show a voter photo ID to vote.”
“I think a lot of people make the argument that people of color, nonwhite Americans, have a harder time procuring a photo I.D. to vote,” Enten continued. “But even here, take a look here, favor photo ID to vote. Eighty-five percent of white people favor it. Eighty-two percent of Latinos. Seventy-six percent of black Americans favor it.”
“So, the bottom line is this: voter I.D. is not controversial in this country,” Enten asserted. “A photo ID to vote is not controversial in this country. The 2026 Grammy Awards were supposed to celebrate music. Instead, they became another stage for Hollywood’s favorite performance: moral superiority without consequences.
This year, celebrities like Billie Eilish, Teddy Swims, and Justin Bieber donned <a href="https://variety.com/2026/music/news/grammys-ice-out-pins-billie-eilish-kehlani-bon-iver-1236648441/">“ICE Out”</a> pins and used their acceptance speeches to condemn Immigration and Customs Enforcement and lecture Americans about justice, compassion, and humanity. From their gilded seats inside Crypto.com Arena, they urged unity and resistance all while remaining safely insulated from the real world consequences of the policies they champion.
That is the part no one on that stage ever acknowledges.
The celebrities grandstanding about immigration do not live in border communities. They do not compete for jobs with illegal labor. They do not deal with overwhelmed schools, strained hospitals, or rising crime. They do not have to explain to grieving families why their loved ones died because basic immigration enforcement was treated as immoral.
Where was the outrage from Hollywood when Laken Riley was murdered by an illegal immigrant? Where were the pins, speeches, and standing ovations then? Silence. Because acknowledging victims like her would complicate the narrative, Hollywood prefers slogans over substance.
When Billie Eilish declared that no one is illegal on stolen land, critics pointed out the obvious contradiction. She lives in a multimillion dollar estate guarded by private security. If land ownership is illegitimate, why is she not handing over the keys. Virtue is easy when it costs nothing.
Hollywood’s moral theater is not about helping people. It is about signaling status. Proving you belong to the correct side of elite opinion while never having to live with the fallout.
That is why the reaction to Nicki Minaj was so revealing.
Minaj did not wear a pin. She did not chant slogans. She did not follow the script. Instead, she attended the world premiere of Melania at the Kennedy Center, has worked alongside President Trump on Trump Accounts, and openly calls herself his number one fan. She chose independence over approval, and Hollywood is punishing her for it.
During the Grammys, <a href="https://apnews.com/article/article/trevor-noah-grammys-nicki-minaj-kendrick-lamar-79ee508f2e15ec56b2b4826b787b6913">host Trevor Noah turned Minaj into a punchline</a>, joking that she was at the White House with Donald Trump. The audience laughed not because it was clever but because it signaled who was acceptable to mock.

The hostility did not stop there. At a MusiCares gala, Billy Porter publicly dropped an<a href="https://www.complex.com/pop-culture/a/markelibert/billy-porter-slams-nicki-minaj-trump-support"> F bomb</a> when asked about Minaj’s political views, declaring shame on her and others like her. In Hollywood, tolerance ends where independent thought begins.
The message was clear. You are free to speak as long as you agree.
Nicki Minaj did not see the light because Hollywood showed her anything new. She saw the truth Americans have known for years. The entertainment industry demands conformity not compassion. Obedience not courage.
Real Americans are tired of being lectured by people who will never pay the price for the policies they promote. They are tired of selective outrage, empty slogans, and celebrities who cry injustice while living lives untouched by its consequences.
The Grammys did not expose ICE. They exposed Hollywood.
And the more celebrities shout, the clearer it becomes. Americans are not rejecting compassion. They are rejecting hypocrisy.

Hollywood leftists couldn’t help but take shots at rapper Nicki Minaj for recently breaking ranks and coming out in support of President Donald Trump.
Grammys host Trevor Noah mocked the recording artist while presenting at the annual event on Sunday. 
“Nicki Minaj is not here,” he said during his opening monologue. “She’s still at the White House with Donald Trump, discussing very important issues.”
Noah went on to do a Trump impression and reference Cardi B’s song “WAP,” an acronym that stands for &#8220;wet a** p*ssy.&#8221; He said while trying to sound like the president, “‘Actually Nicki, I have the biggest ass! Everybody’s saying it. I know they say it’s you, but it’s me. WAP, WAP, WAP. Look at it. Look at it, baby.&#8217;”

The gathered celebrities, many wearing &#8220;ICE OUT&#8221; buttons and <a href="https://www.news18.com/movies/hollywood/billie-eilish-slams-ice-during-grammys-victory-speech-no-one-is-illegal-on-stolen-land-aa-9874518.html">whining about</a> how “no one is illegal on stolen land,” cracked up at the bit. 
Noah may not be laughing for long, however. His digs at Minaj were bad enough, but he also made insinuations about Trump’s relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, which led to the president threatening legal action.
“Noah, a total loser, better get his facts straight, and get them straight fast,” Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-rips-total-loser-trevor-noah-over-grammys-epstein-joke-threatens-lawsuit">posted</a> on Truth Social after the event. “It looks like I’ll be sending my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C., and suing him for plenty$. Ask Little George Slopadopolus, and others, how that all worked out. Also ask CBS! Get ready Noah, I’m going to have some fun with you!”
Minaj has come under fire after coming out in support of Trump in recent months. Most recently, the “Super Bass” singer appeared at an event with the president and called herself his “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nicki-minaj-says-shes-the-presidents-number-one-fan-at-trump-accounts-summit">number one fan</a>.”
“The hate, or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all. It actually motivates me to support him more. And it’s going to motivate all of us to support him more,” Minaj said of Trump last week.
“We’re not going to let them get away with bullying him,” she continued. “He has a lot of force behind him, and God is protecting him. Amen.”

Rapper Nicki Minaj appeared with Donald Trump at an event on Wednesday, where she described herself as &#8220;the president&#8217;s number one fan.&#8221;
The recording artist spoke at the Trump Accounts Summit in Washington, D.C., and praised the president’s new initiative of creating investment accounts for American babies.
&#8220;I am probably the president&#8217;s number one fan, and that&#8217;s not going to change,&#8221; Minaj, 43, told the crowd as she stood onstage with “Shark Tank” star and investor Kevin O&#8217;Leary. &#8220;The hate, or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all. It actually motivates me to support him more. And it&#8217;s going to motivate all of us to support him more.&#8221;
&#8220;We&#8217;re not going to let them get away with bullying him,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;He has a lot of force behind him, and God is protecting him. Amen.&#8221;

Earlier this week, Minaj took to social media to praise Trump’s plans, calling the initiative “the true meaning of paying it forward.”
&#8220;Early financial literacy &amp; financial support for our children will give them a major head start in life,&#8221; she wrote in an <a href="https://x.com/NICKIMINAJ/status/2015109826913718712?s=20">X post</a> shared on Saturday. &#8220;In some cases, they will end up teaching their very own parents how to invest &amp; what to invest in. This makes me very happy.&#8221;
With “Trump Accounts,” every American child born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028, will receive an account loaded with $1,000, courtesy of President Donald Trump, congressional Republicans, and the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Parents and their employers will also be able to make contributions that would supercharge its growth, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-secret-weapon-that-will-supercharge-the-trump-accounts-for-newborns">reported</a>.
To encourage participation, the Trump administration has made the employer contributions tax-exempt.
Account recipients will have ownership of the funds at 18, at which point the funds can be withdrawn in accordance with standard IRA rules. The White House noted that &#8220;if fully funded and left untouched, [the account] could grow to as much as $1.9 million by age 28.&#8221;
Minaj, a mainstream rapper, came out as a Trump supporter last year and has made several appearances since in support of his administration. She has been openly critical of Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA), and recently joined Erika Kirk onstage at AmFest in December. The “Super Bass” singer also accepted an invitation from U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nicki-minaj-drops-mic-on-nigerias-anti-christian-violence-at-un?author=Amanda+Harding&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Nicki+Minaj+Drops+Mic+On+Nigeria%E2%80%99s+Anti-Christian+Violence+At+UN">speak about</a> the persecution of Christians in Nigeria.

Turning Point USA President Erika Kirk brought the house down on Sunday when she introduced rapper Nicki Minaj on the stage at AmericaFest in Phoenix, Arizona.
Erika Kirk sat down with Minaj on the stage, saying that she wanted to honor Charlie&#8217;s tradition of always having a surprise for the AmFest crowd. She started off with Minaj reading out loud some of her &#8220;mean tweets&#8221; directed at Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) to thunderous applause.

Some 24 hours earlier, the organization had teased a huge guest who would have people talking into next year, and many believed at first that President Donald Trump would be making an appearance. But when Donald Trump Jr. took a call from his father during his speech just prior to Erika&#8217;s big reveal, that appeared not to be the case.
Minaj, for her part, has been throwing her support behind a number of conservative causes — from protecting Christians from persecution worldwide to ending gender transition surgeries and hormones for minors — and has made it her particular mission to go after Governor Newsom.
&#8220;Dear Newscum, we don&#8217;t have a problem cleaning up the scum if we have to. Please tread lightly,&#8221; Minaj said her current message to &#8220;Gavvy-Pooh&#8221; would be.
When asked what her opinion of the current administration was, she said, &#8220;I have the utmost respect and admiration for our president. I don&#8217;t know if he even knows this, but he&#8217;s given so many people hope that there&#8217;s a chance to beat the bad guys and to win and to do it with your head held high and your integrity intact.&#8221;
Minaj went on to explain that for her, the &#8220;turning point&#8221; was that she&#8217;d realized she was tired of being pushed around: &#8220;I&#8217;m not going to back down any more. I&#8217;m not going to back down ever again.&#8221;
Kirk asked why it was such an extraordinary thing to see people speaking their minds in today&#8217;s world, and Minaj&#8217;s message was clear: &#8220;People are no longer using their minds, their brains. So right now just imagine, we&#8217;re not allowed to have a different opinion anymore. We&#8217;re not allowed to think out loud anymore. This is not what the world used to feel like.&#8221;
When Kirk pressed Minaj on the backlash she was seeing from within her own industry, Minaj responded with just three words: &#8220;I didn&#8217;t notice.&#8221;

&#8220;You can&#8217;t wake up and think about people who are just determined to stay mad,&#8221; she said. &#8220;In a world that doesn&#8217;t want us to think, we will continue to think!&#8221;
&#8220;What inspired you to speak up about the Christians who are being slaughtered in Nigeria?&#8221; Kirk asked.
&#8220;We take for granted that — there are people in this world who cannot worship God as they please, where they please, and we take it for granted because we have it,&#8221; Minaj said, reminding the audience that there were people all over the world who had to hide while they prayed and had fellowship together.
Kirk asked Minaj to talk a bit about her faith, and she laid out a lot of her personal history — including a recent return to her spiritual roots.
&#8220;When I was a toddler in Trinidad, my grandmother, if things got spicy in the house &#8230; she would make all the little kids go in her room and say a prayer,&#8221; Minaj said, adding that she started attending church in New York when she was a bit older. &#8220;I learned how to pray very early. I always had this faith — you know the kind of faith that makes people say oh, that person is crazy, but I had that kind of faith instinctively.&#8221;
Minaj went on to say that she tried to apply things to her life, and the point was not that Christians were perfect but that they tried. &#8220;Sometimes you can be in an industry as well that pulls you away even more.&#8221;
She then said that going back to God recently had felt like going back to a long-lost best friend. &#8220;He said, &#8216;Where were you? I&#8217;ve been waiting on you.&#8217; &#8230; As soon as you call on Him, He&#8217;s going to answer. On the first ring.&#8221;
When asked how she would address issues facing little boys and little girls — particularly as a parent — she said that she had to bring race into the mix: &#8220;Why have we gotten to a point where certain colors or certain kinds of people have to be afraid of loving themselves or loving how they look &#8230; I don&#8217;t want what was done to little black girls to be done to little white girls, to any girls!&#8221;
And for the boys: &#8220;Be boys, it&#8217;s okay. There&#8217;s nothing wrong with being a boy &#8230; Boys will be boys, and there&#8217;s nothing wrong with that.&#8221;
Her conclusion: &#8220;When the Truth comes out, the lies hide.&#8221;
After she first spoke out in support of persecuted Christians in places like Nigeria, the popular rapper accepted an invitation from U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz, where she addressed the body and spoke about the importance of defending religious freedom wherever it may be threatened.
She has since been spotted online leaning in to some of the memes featuring Vice President JD Vance — and making it clear that she&#8217;s amused by how much fun he&#8217;s having with the liberals who are attempting to mock him.
In more recent weeks, she has taken to using her social media presence to target Newsom — who is likely to be a top tier candidate for the Democratic Party going into the 2028 presidential primary. In addition to attacking his positions on transgender issues — namely that he wants to see &#8220;more transgender kids&#8221; and will continue to allow men to have access to female-only spaces.

Rapper Nicki Minaj has been engaged in a public back-and-forth with California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, calling him out for his radical stance on “gender affirming” surgery for minors, among other things.
Most recently, Newsom drew another round of responses from Minaj after he posted a wordless compilation on X, punctuated only by a zipped-lip emoji. The 12-second clip featured footage of President Donald Trump alongside the late Jeffrey Epstein, all set to Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hiss” — widely interpreted as a diss track aimed at Minaj.

The rapper’s diatribe continued with more criticism for the governor.

Amid her criticism of Newsom, Minaj also expressed support for President Trump’s administration.

Rapper Nicki Minaj took a social media sledgehammer to Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) on Friday, mocking him and warning him against entering the 2028 presidential race.
Minaj, fresh off her United Nations <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nicki-minaj-drops-mic-on-nigerias-anti-christian-violence-at-un">testimony</a> calling for the defense of persecuted Christians, initially lashed out at Newsom over a recent interview in which he said, &#8220;I want to see trans kids.&#8221;

Minaj concluded with a few suggestions for Newsom, giving him a few options to fill the time that she said would certainly be wasted if he were to pursue a presidential run.

President Donald Trump is stretching the “politics make strange bedfellows” saw to the breaking point.
Celebrity Nation leans aggressively to the Left, and anyone defying that groupthink puts their career at risk. Actor Zachary Levi said it out loud after he praised President Trump last year, calling the move <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/zachary-levi-endorsing-trump-lifeline-career-1236026923/">“career suicide.”</a>
That wasn’t the case in 2009, however, when celebrities flocked to President Barack Obama following his historic 2008 election. They pledged <a href="https://www.hollywoodintoto.com/celebrities-pledge-oath-obama/">to do whatever he told them to do</a>.
Different party, of course.
This past week, President Trump had recording artist Nicki Minaj indirectly singing his praises for drawing attention to a humanitarian crisis. The rapper took Trump’s side after the president called out the shocking slaughter of Christians in Nigeria.
Minaj, in connection with the administration, spoke before a UN event about the shocking headlines coming from the African nation.

&#8220;In Nigeria, Christians are being targeted … Churches have been burned, families have been torn apart &#8230; simply because of how they pray.&#8221;
She also <a href="https://apnews.com/article/nicki-minaj-nigeria-christians-trump-be7b03a3f1d4e43747fa26e600be5d3f">thanked the president</a> for leading the way on the matter to “combat extremism and to bring a stop to violence against those who simply want to exercise their natural right to freedom of religion or belief.”
Trump critics contend that multiple religions have been targeted during the violence spree, and that the nation has sadly been the source of extreme violence for some time.
Minaj’s appearance understandably rocked pop culture, but it wasn’t the first time.
For starters, Trump’s second term features former Democrats like Tulsi Gabbard and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., his Director of National Intelligence and Secretary of Health and Human Services, respectively.
Journalist Megyn Kelly, who Trump once blistered during an early Q&amp;A, stumped for his presidency in the waning days of the 2024 campaign.
It’s Trump’s pop culture connections, though, that raise eyebrows the highest. Think Snoop Dogg, Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Bill Maher, and others who famously linked arms with the president in the past.
It started during the President’s first White House foray. Rapper Kanye West hopped aboard the Trump Train, meeting with the world leader at Trump Tower in 2016 following an extended concert speech praising the real estate mogul.
Two years later, West wore a <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/snl-kanye-west-gave-pro-trump-speech-maga-hat-1148092/">red MAGA</a> hat on “Saturday Night Live” and praised Trump, but the artist’s string of antisemitic rants and emotional meltdowns caused his fame to curdle into its current, sorry state.
West’s former wife, Kim Kardashian, has arguably had a more productive relationship with Trump. The reality show starlet teamed with Trump on prison reform measures. Kardashian, ignoring a celebrity culture that raged against all things Trump, made the trek to the White House to personally push for her pet cause.
The wannabe lawyer and Trump <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-51744918">discussed reform measures</a> aimed at first-time offenders and those she felt were treated unfairly. That public relations coup led to the 2018 release of three young mothers — Crystal Munoz, Judith Negron, and Tynice Hall, all tied to drug-related charges.

She also played a role in the <a href="https://time.com/5486560/prison-reform-jared-kushner-kim-kardashian-west/">2018 bill</a> that expanded the criminal reform initiative, allowing prisoners to earn credits for early release among its measures. Kardashian wasn’t the only player who made that happen, but she became its public face via her social media empire.
Trump’s second term has seen more of the same, right from the jump.
Rapper Snoop Dogg infamously starred in a 2017 music video in which he <a href="https://www.reuters.com/article/lifestyle/trump-hits-back-at-snoop-dogg-assassination-video-idUSKBN16O04V/">“shot” a clownish Trump stand-in</a>.
Future Secretary of State Marco Rubio <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-39268735">blasted the clip</a>, telling TMZ at the time that, &#8220;If the wrong person sees that and gets the wrong idea, you could have a real problem.&#8221;
It was part of Hollywood’s collective wish for the real estate mogul to <a href="https://www.hollywoodintoto.com/celebrities-wished-trump-dead/">leave this mortal coil</a> during his first term.
The rapper/actor/pitchman apparently had a change of heart over time. By 2025, <a href="https://www.npr.org/2025/01/20/g-s1-43733/snoop-dogg-trump-perform-inauguration">Snoop Dogg performed</a> at a pre-inauguration gala dubbed the Crypto Ball alongside Rick Ross and Soulja Boy. That’s despite previously calling anyone who performed for Trump during his first term “<a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/BPGvbw4jnvn/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=embed_video_watch_again">Uncle Toms,” in a stereotypical, Stepin Fetchit-style voice</a>.

The rapper even stood up to social media critics who trashed him for his about-face.
“Y’all can’t hate enough for me, I love too much,” <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BdjP-n8rIs">he told his critics</a>, via Entertainment Tonight. “We gotta pick each other up instead of putting each other down.”
Earlier this year, longtime Trump critic Bill Maher made the trek to the White House to break bread with his ideological foe. Maher got roasted for his trouble, including a <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/21/opinion/larry-david-hitler-dinner.html">seething New York Times op-ed</a> from Larry David of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” fame.
Maher even suggested recently he’d like a second dinner with Trump while continuing to roast his leadership.

How did the initial Maher-Trump dinner happen in the first place? Singer Kid Rock, a repeat guest on Maher’s “Club Random” podcast, arranged for the unlikely meetup.
The wildest part of the dinner? Maher had <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EwqzHsSEZY">Trump sign a list</a> of all the insults the president had thrown the comedian’s way over the years. Maher considers it a prized possession, one he has shown to his “Club Random” guests.
It took courage for stars to align with Trump during his first term.
Now, with a few more celebrities bucking conventional wisdom, the president’s “bedfellows” are looking a little less strange.

Rapper Nicki Minaj spoke at a United Nations event on Tuesday to bring attention to the persecution of Christians in Nigeria.
The Trinidadian pop star thanked President Donald Trump for prioritizing the issue and urged people “to defend Christians in Nigeria, to combat extremism and to bring a stop to violence against those who simply want to exercise their natural right to freedom of religion or belief.” Minaj was part of a panel that included U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz and faith leaders. 
“Today, faith is under attack in way too many places. In Nigeria, Christians are being targeted, driven from their homes and killed. Churches have been burned. Families have been torn apart and entire communities live in fear constantly, simply because of how they pray,” the 42-year-old celeb <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jcssdZvTK8">said</a> during her speech.
“Sadly, this problem is not only a growing problem in Nigeria, but also in so many other countries across the world, and it demands urgent action,” Minaj said. “And I want to be clear, protecting Christians in Nigeria is not about taking sides or dividing people. It is about uniting humanity.”

The “Super Bass” singer isn’t politically active, but many of her fans have been melting down, accusing her of “going MAGA.” Minaj, who calls her fans “Barbz,” attempted to soothe their ruffled feathers by explaining that this issue transcended politics.
“Barbz, I know you&#8217;re somewhere listening. I love you so very much. You have been the ultimate light in my life and career for so long. I appreciate you, and I want to make it very clear, once again, that this isn&#8217;t about taking sides. This is about standing up in the face of injustice. It&#8217;s about what I&#8217;ve always stood for my entire career. And I will continue to stand for that for the rest of my life. I will care if anyone, anywhere, is being persecuted for their beliefs,” Minaj said.
In late October, Trump said the State Department would add Nigeria to its list of “Countries of Particular Concern.”
“Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed,” Trump said. “Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby making Nigeria a ‘COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN’ — But that is the least of it. When Christians, or any such group, is slaughtered like is happening in Nigeria (3,100 versus 4,476 Worldwide), something must be done!”
Trump said he would send troops into Nigeria “guns a-blazing” if its government “continues to allow the killing of Christians.”
Nigerian President Bola Tinubu disputed Trump’s assertions, saying they did not reflect the facts.
“The characterisation of Nigeria as religiously intolerant does not reflect our national reality, nor does it take into consideration the consistent and sincere efforts of the government to safeguard freedom of religion and beliefs for all Nigerians,” he <a href="https://x.com/officialABAT/status/1984640117361840491">said</a>.
“Religious freedom and tolerance have been a core tenet of our collective identity and shall always remain so. Nigeria opposes religious persecution and does not encourage it.”
