A Minnesota community is grieving the tragic loss of a local leader and former military medic who died following a confrontation with individuals targeting his personal vehicle last week.
The incident unfolded on Friday afternoon outside Rick’s Coffee Bar, which is run by Every Third Saturday, a nonprofit dedicated to assisting former service members. Amos Ferrier, 38, was attending a graduation ceremony.
“He was in the coffee shop and observed at least one individual, maybe two or three, but they had gone into his truck and took his bag, and he ran out to stop them,” Tom McKenna, co-founder of Every Third Saturday, told <a href="https://kstp.com/kstp-news/top-news/he-was-a-courageous-soul-south-minneapolis-coffee-shop-mourns-veteran-killed-in-attempted-car-theft/">KSTP.</a>
When Ferrier stepped outside to intervene, the situation escalated rapidly, Fox9 <a href="https://www.fox9.com/news/veteran-amos-ferrier-killed-south-minneapolis-car-theft">reported</a>. As the perpetrators attempted to flee in a vehicle, Ferrier became trapped on the hood of the accelerating car. It is unclear if they returned to their car or drove away in Ferrier&#8217;s, according to KSTP. The driver traveled nearly an entire block before abruptly turning, causing Ferrier to be violently ejected onto the roadway.
Emergency responders transported the unconscious father of two to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he underwent urgent neurological surgery. Tragically, he never regained consciousness and was removed from life support two days later. “They did emergency brain surgery at HCMC, and he never woke up,” McKenna stated.
Law enforcement authorities acted swiftly following the fatal encounter. On Tuesday, the Minneapolis Police Department&#8217;s specialized apprehension unit located and arrested Riniyah Allen, 19, and Jalaya Frost, 18. Both young women face initial charges of first-degree murder and remain detained at the regional jail facility.

The tragedy has deeply shaken the local community, where Ferrier was a revered figure. He spent a decade and a half in the United States Army, enduring multiple combat tours in Afghanistan, where he was recognized for rescuing numerous comrades on the battlefield. Upon returning to civilian life, he channeled his experiences into helping other former service members transition back into society. In his professional role at the nonprofit, he managed career development programs, guided peers through complex bureaucratic paperwork to secure medical benefits, and actively participated in a newly formed suicide prevention campaign.
“He loved seeing people grow and seeing people get better and become better versions of themselves. And he brought that out in people,” said McKenna. “He was our do-it-all. He was kind of a Swiss Army knife. He ran an internship program, but he also had a huge role helping veterans with challenges like paperwork or filing claims, accessing benefits and resources. And he was part of a suicide prevention initiative we were launching. &#8230; He taught us that laughing is the best medicine. He certainly leaves behind a legacy of lives that he touched, and a way of doing things that will continue here for a long time.”
Colleagues and loved ones have established a temporary monument — featuring floral arrangements and a wooden cross crafted by Ferrier himself — at the exact location where he was injured.

A disturbing police video released this week shows a transgender-identifying man admitting to the murder of his parents because his mom wanted to stop him from having gender surgery. 
Video <a href="https://kutv.com/news/local/mia-bailey-details-how-she-killed-her-parents-in-interrogation-video">obtained</a> by KUTV shows a 28-year-old Collin Troy Bailey confessing to murdering his parents, Joseph and Gail, in Washington County, Utah, after police arrested him back in June 2024. Bailey, who claims to be a woman and goes by “Mia,” was convicted in November 2025 and sentenced to two 25-year life sentences for the murders. 
&#8220;I told them I was going to kill myself so many times,&#8221; Bailey told police. &#8220;Mental health declining, that’s why I needed that surgery.&#8221;

He told investigators his mom attempted to stop him from having transgender surgery. 
“She was trying to sabotage it. She always had boundary issues,&#8221; Bailey said. &#8220;I had one thing going on, and she took that away from me. [&#8230;] She can&#8217;t say sorry to save her life, apparently. And I gave her so many chances throughout my life.&#8221;
The footage shows Bailey flippantly referring to blindly shooting through a door, not caring if he injured his brother, saying, “If I did, so what?” 
Bailey said he had no regrets about murdering his parents. 
&#8220;So much for family,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I spent years trying to fix that broken ass family. Eventually, I had to get out, either going to kill myself or kill.&#8221;
Bailey told police that the public should be more supportive of people who want to become transgender. 
Police <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/police-catch-transgender-suspect-accused-of-double-murder-hiding-in-weeds">tracked</a> Bailey down and found him in the woods after he carried out the murders with a gun he bought from a pawn shop. Bailey had planned to kill himself, but was detained by police without incident after a manhunt. 
&#8220;I went to my parents to do the deed. Kill them,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It was spur-of-the-moment. I don’t regret it. I hate them. That was the last straw.&#8221;
Bailey <a href="https://corrections.utah.gov/inmate-services/offender-search/">appears</a> to currently be <a href="https://corrections.utah.gov/about-us/correctional-facilties/utah-state-correctional-facility">housed</a> in Utah State Correctional Facility’s Antelope unit, a maximum security male facility. 
There have been growing concerns about violence motivated by transgender ideology after the last several years have seen multiple deadly school shootings targeting Christian schools carried out by gender-confused assailants.

Kouri Richins, the Utah woman who wrote a children&#8217;s book on processing grief after her husband&#8217;s death, went on a 40-minute rant as she was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole for killing him with fentanyl. 
In March, a jury found the 35-year-old guilty of aggravated murder for lacing her husband Eric Richins’ drink with five times the lethal dose of fentanyl, poisoning him with what&#8217;s known as a Moscow Mule cocktail,<a href="https://apnews.com/article/kouri-richins-murder-trial-sentencing-fa8c4b159827eef080cfa104a316454c"> according to the Associated Press.</a> Jurors also convicted the mother of three on four additional felonies, including insurance fraud, forgery, and attempted murder for giving her husband a fentanyl-laced sandwich on Valentine&#8217;s Day. 
Judge Richard Mrazik imposed the maximum sentence, rejecting the possibility of parole.
“A person convicted of those things is simply too dangerous to ever be free,” Mrazik said. 
Eric Richins, 39, was found dead in bed on March 4, 2022, at the couple&#8217;s Park City home. An <a href="https://abcnews.com/US/utah-mom-kouri-richins-set-sentenced-fatally-poisoning/story?id=132889104&amp;cid=social_twitter_abcn">autopsy report</a> determined he died from fentanyl intoxication. The sentencing coincided with what would have been his 44th birthday.
According to the Associated Press, Kouri Richins, a real estate agent who operated a house-flipping business, was millions of dollars in debt and romantically involved with another man. She had taken out multiple life insurance policies on her husband without his knowledge, believing she would inherit more than $4 million after his death.
The victim&#8217;s father, Eugene Richins, urged the court to impose the maximum penalty to protect his grandchildren from their mother. 
“This sentence is important so Eric’s three sons never have to live with the fear that the person responsible for taking their father could ever harm them again,” he said during the sentencing hearing,<a href="https://apnews.com/article/kouri-richins-murder-trial-sentencing-fa8c4b159827eef080cfa104a316454c"> according to the Associated Press. </a>
Speaking to her young children at the sentencing, Richins broke into a 40-minute rant where she insisted she was innocent while admitting that she is &#8220;not perfect.&#8221; 
&#8220;I know that today you don&#8217;t want to speak to me, have a relationship with me,&#8221;<a href="https://abcnews.com/US/utah-mom-kouri-richins-set-sentenced-fatally-poisoning/story?id=132889104&amp;cid=social_twitter_abcn"> she said, according to ABC.</a> &#8220;You may think you hate me, and that&#8217;s okay. I will never be angry at you for your feelings. When the day comes that you&#8217;re ready, I will be here for you, waiting for you, and loving you.&#8221;
&#8220;I have succeeded and I have failed as a person, as a wife, as a parent &#8212; we all do,&#8221; she added.
Richins&#8217; arrest drew national attention, in part due to the children&#8217;s book she published. Released a year after her husband’s death, “Are You With Me?” aimed to help her boys process the loss of their father. The book, which has fewer than two stars in reviews, drew a wave of outraged responses.
&#8220;This is horrifying, writing a book about grief to then be the one who murdered your husband? How can you do that to someone?&#8221; one social media user said.

A Utah judge ruled Friday that cameras, microphones, and still photographers will be allowed inside the courtroom for the murder trial of Tyler Robinson, the man accused of assassinating Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.
Fourth District Court Judge Tony Graf denied a request from the defense to ban all forms of electronic media coverage, instead requiring reporters to file requests at least two weeks prior to each scheduled proceeding.
Robinson, 23, has been charged with the September 10, 2025, killing and could face the death penalty if convicted.
The defense argued that allowing cameras would jeopardize Robinson&#8217;s “fair trial rights,” telling the judge that restrictions were necessary &#8220;to ensure Mr. Robinson’s rights to due process, to a fair and impartial jury, to counsel, to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures, and to be free from cruel and unusual punishment.&#8221;
At a hearing last month, the defense argued that media coverage in pre-trial hearings had already tainted the jury pool, pointing to several examples of pundits branding Robinson as a &#8220;monster&#8221; and fixating on items pulled from court filings, such as alleged post-shooting texts to his transgender-identifying roommate, rather than the substance of the proceedings.
The prosecution dismissed this argument, arguing that transparency strengthens public trust.
“Mischief lurks in the dark or in secret,” Deputy Utah County Attorney Chad Grunander said. “Conspiracy theories abound, and the antidote is the actual, real proceedings&#8230; Let’s shine a light on these proceedings, a bright light, so the public can have confidence in what happens in this courtroom.”
Utah courts have generally permitted cameras by default for a decade, and no criminal case in the state has been fully closed to cameras, according to the Salt Lake City Tribune.
Graf said the court has implemented several measures to address the defense&#8217;s concerns, including requiring cameras to remain at the back of the courtroom to avoid capturing sensitive materials or conversations.
He also pushed back the preliminary hearing for July 6 through July 10, rejecting the defense&#8217;s request for a six-month delay to sort through the &#8220;voluminous&#8221; discovery materials.

A Texas jury on Tuesday sentenced the FedEx driver who admitted to murdering seven-year-old Athena Strand to death.
Tanner Horner, who confessed last month to killing the young girl in 2022, stood expressionless as Judge George Gallagher delivered the sentence.
&#8220;It is therefore the order of this court that your punishment be death,&#8221; Gallagher <a href="https://x.com/CourtTV/status/2051758166690378069?s=20">said</a>.
Strand&#8217;s naked body was found in a creek on December 2, 2022, just about 40 miles north of the courtroom where Horner learned his fate. The judge said the execution would be carried out by lethal injection &#8220;before the hour of sunrise&#8221; at a future date.
After the verdict, Athena&#8217;s uncle, Elijah Strand, addressed Horner directly while fighting back tears.
&#8220;You did not just take a life, you destroyed a family,&#8221; he said. &#8220;You will be judged. You will face the wrath of God. And I want you to know that you are nothing. You are a footnote in Athena&#8217;s story. Her name will forever be celebrated and everyone will forget you.&#8221;
Horner looked toward Strand as he spoke but otherwise showed little reaction in court.
Tuesday&#8217;s sentencing concluded a case that has devastated the Strand family since 2022. Horner was working as a FedEx delivery driver when he went to Athena&#8217;s father&#8217;s home. He told investigators he accidentally struck the child with his truck while backing out of the driveway, per <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/texas/news/tanner-horner-trial-sentenced-death-penalty-kidnapping-murder-athena-strand/">CBS News</a>.
According to investigators, Horner said Athena did not appear seriously injured, but he panicked, placed her in his vehicle, and strangled her out of fear she would tell her dad what happened.
Horner pleaded guilty to his capital murder and kidnapping charges on April 7, just before his trial was set to begin. The case then moved into a two-week sentencing phase.
Dallas television station <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ftsist8BhlA">WFAA</a> had access inside the courtroom during the sentencing hearings, where audio played of Horner strangling Athena inside the vehicle. At one point, Horner told Athena to take her shirt off, and she replied: &#8220;My mom says that you can&#8217;t do that to me.&#8221;
She started to scream as the sounds of Horner slamming her into the floor of his truck echoed through the courtroom, according to <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/05/05/us-news/killer-fedex-driver-who-murdered-little-athena-strand-sentenced-to-death/">The Post</a>.
Christmas songs can be heard on the FedEx truck&#8217;s radio. Horner sang along to &#8220;Jingle Bell Rock&#8221; as he strangled her with his bare hands, per the outlet.
Horner returned to the area the following day as search efforts were underway and denied any knowledge of the child&#8217;s disappearance, authorities said.
Under Texas law, the death sentence will automatically be appealed to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.

The U.K. immigrant accused in the random killings of three people, including a Department of Homeland Security employee, was found dead in his Georgia jail cell Tuesday evening.
Authorities said that 26-year-old Olaolukitan Adon Abel, who was naturalized during former President Joe Biden’s administration, was found unresponsive by officials in his cell, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. He was pronounced dead at the scene after authorities performed life-saving measures.
Officials have not released a cause of death as of Wednesday morning, but they do not suspect any foul play. Abel was found unresponsive by jail staff at 6:48 p.m. and was pronounced dead at 7:17 p.m., which was around the same time that a vigil was being held by family and friends of his victims, Fox 5 Atlanta <a href="https://www.fox5atlanta.com/news/shooting-spree-suspect-found-dead-dekalb-county-jail">reported</a>.
&#8220;In accordance with agency policy, a standard internal review has been initiated to examine the circumstances surrounding this incident,&#8221; DeKalb County Sheriff Sheriff Melody Maddox said. County officials added that &#8220;there is no indication of criminal activity or foul play.&#8221;
Abel was charged with two counts of murder and aggravated assault after he went on a killing spree in Georgia earlier this month. Abel attacked three people at random on the morning of April 13, including stabbing and shooting 40-year-old Homeland Security auditor Lauren Bullis, who was killed as she was on a walk with her dog.
Bullis was the third person targeted by Abel that morning. The immigrant, who had an extensive criminal record, shot and killed Prianna Weathers, 31, outside of a Checker&#8217;s restaurant around 1:00 a.m. in DeKalb County. Abel then drove 16 miles to Brookhaven, Georgia, where he shot Tony Matthews, 48, outside of a Kroger store. Matthews died from his injuries on Sunday, according to <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2026/04/17/us/lauren-bullis-prianna-weathers-atlanta-shootings">CNN</a>, meaning that Abel likely would have been hit with a third murder charge.
Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said that Abel has previously been convicted of sexual battery, battery against a police officer, obstruction, assault with a deadly weapon, and vandalism. After the brutal killings, the Trump administration emphasized that it is prioritizing &#8220;measures to ensure individuals with criminal histories and who otherwise lack good moral character do not attain citizenship.&#8221;

Instead of pointing fingers at permissive judges or poor mental health for the horrific mass shooting in Shreveport, a writer for New York Magazine has decided to blame … the patriarchy.
The outlet claimed that 31-year-old U.S. Army veteran Shamar Elkins, the man accused of killing eight children, including seven of his own, was the victim of a society that believes women belong to men.
“It is tempting to treat Elkins’s actions as the isolated incident of a madman. But poor mental health is never a reasonable explanation for attempting to execute one’s wife and children,” <a href="https://www.thecut.com/article/shreveport-killing-shamar-elkins-mental-health-patriarchy.html">wrote</a> Brittney Cooper, a Cut contributor who “writes about race and systems of power.”
“Patriarchy offers a better explanation for this violence,” she went on. “Patriarchy teaches men that women and children belong to them, that they are property that men get to have, as a male rite of passage. Men are taught, in what bell hooks famously called a ‘white supremacist capitalist patriarchy,’ to measure their worth and value by the size of their bank account, the size of their genitals, and the size of their families. These are forms of toxic self-value, predicated as they are on women and children having no agency or dreams of their own.”
Cooper went on to lament “the rise of the manosphere” and “a nation being led by a group of right-wing extremists with Neanderthal ideas about gender and sexuality.”
“Men who kill their wives and children are not just bad apples who needed a free month of BetterHelp. These killings are the natural outcome of a country enamored with patriarchy and determined to make sure that men can freely dominate women,” she insists.
Readers on social media pushed back strongly on this theory.
“Well you couldn&#8217;t make it about racism, so I guess Patriarchy seemed like a good idea. Though I bet if you tried you could make it about racism and how mostly female mental health professionals won&#8217;t take on poor Black male clients. Of course then, no patriarchy. Tough,” one sarcastic commenter <a href="https://x.com/thevanosam/status/2046572431159038339">wrote</a>.
“The race is inconvenient, so we switch to a gender motive. He was a criminal, a gun criminal no less. But instead of being locked up, the people that screech constantly about gun violence, went easy on him as they always do. It’s a story about leftist policies causing more death,” another person <a href="https://x.com/occhipig/status/2046549453838897514">added</a>.
Elkins, who appeared to be targeting his own “descendants,” opened fire in three different homes across Shreveport on April 19. He was shot and killed by police after he attempted to carjack a vehicle to escape.
Shreveport officials described the shooting as domestic violence, saying Elkins shot the mother of his children and another woman, as well as his seven children and one of their cousins, per <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2026/04/21/shamar-elkins-shreveport-louisiana-shooter/89710200007/">USA Today</a>. 
The outlet noted that Elkins married Shaneiqua Pugh in April 2024. A woman named Christina Snow sued Elkins for child support and was granted joint custody of their child, Sariahh, in 2017. Sariahh was one of the victims of the shooting.

Former Virginia Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax took his children&#8217;s horseback riding money to purchase the gun he used to kill their mother, according to court documents.
Divorce documents <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/04/16/us-news/justin-fairfax-was-a-raging-drunk-who-bought-gun-with-kids-horseback-riding-money-before-murder-suicide-court-docs/">obtained</a> by the New York Post reveal that Fairfax purchased the handgun in 2022 — the same year he left office after sexual assault allegations had severely damaged his political career — with cash that had been set aside for his children&#8217;s horseback riding lessons. Also in that same year, “heavy daily alcohol&#8221; use became part of his normal routine.
Fairfax went from being considered “a rising star” in politics to spending his days isolated in his home office surrounded by “empty wine bottles, trash and piles of dirty laundry.” The divorce documents allege he only came out “to get food or smoke cigarettes.”
His wife, Cerina Fairfax, was in the process of getting a divorce from her self-proclaimed “deadbeat” husband. Representing himself in court, Justin did not deny any of Cerina’s allegations against him. A judge ordered Justin to leave his shared home with Cerina by April 30, but 14 days before his scheduled eviction, Fairfax <a href="https://fcpdnews.wordpress.com/2026/04/16/detectives-investigate-domestic-related-murder-suicide-in-annandale/">killed</a> his wife. 
The couple’s teenage children were home at the time, and their son placed the 911 call after Fairfax had shot his wife in the basement and had gone upstairs to shoot himself in the head. Police <a href="https://x.com/FairfaxCountyPD">responded</a> to the house in Annandale, Virginia, “shortly after midnight.”
The shooting was not Fairfax’s first troubling incident involving the weapon. In 2022, he went to a public park with the firearm and a suitcase of clothes, where he was later found by his wife and her stepfather. Fairfax said he carried the weapon for protection after losing his security detail when his term ended. Around 1 a.m., his brother arranged for a mental health professional to speak with him in the park parking lot.
The Fairfaxes had been married for over twenty years when Cerina filed for divorce in July 2025. Court documents indicate that Justin’s downward spiral accelerated after he faced sexual assault allegations in 2019. According to the New York Post, after the scandal, Fairfax <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/04/16/us-news/justin-fairfax-couldnt-find-a-job-or-even-get-legal-clients-after-sex-assault-scandal-pal-says/?utm_campaign=nypost&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter">could not</a> find a job or attract legal clients despite opening a private legal practice out of his home. Cerina worked as a dentist.
Fairfax served one term as lieutenant governor from 2018 to 2022. In 2021, Fairfax ran for governor, but ultimately failed to win the Democratic primary. While Fairfax served as lieutenant governor, he pushed for gun control.

Seven years before former Virginia Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax murdered his wife and committed suicide, he faced sexual assault allegations that derailed his rising political career.
Fairfax, who was found dead Thursday morning by police after apparently shooting his wife during a domestic dispute, was once a rising star in Democratic politics before multiple women came forward in 2019 accusing him of sexual assault. Those allegations came to light after then-Governor Ralph Northam weathered his own scandal when old pictures of him in blackface surfaced.
Following Northam&#8217;s blackface scandal, some, including former President Joe Biden, floated the idea that Fairfax could become the next governor of Virginia.
&#8220;There is no place for racism in America. Governor Northam has lost all moral authority and should resign immediately. Justin Fairfax is the leader Virginia needs now,&#8221; Biden said.
Those calls quieted down weeks later after Fairfax was accused by two women of sexual assault dating back to 2000 and 2004.
Vanessa Tyson, the first woman to lodge accusations against Fairfax, said he sexually assaulted her during the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston. In an <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/justin-fairfax-accuser-vanessa-tyson-speaks-out-sexual-assault/">interview</a> with CBS News, she said that he forced himself on her after they started kissing in his hotel room.
&#8220;You know, and he kind of &#8230; gently takes my hands and &#8230; guides me towards the bed &#8230; And we&#8217;re still kissing, right? And it&#8217;s completely consensual,&#8221; she said. &#8220;He guides me to the bed. And then, you know, he sits down on the bed … And what happens from there, you know — we start kissing lying down, but on the very edge of the bed.&#8221;
She then accused him of forcing her head into his crotch and said she couldn’t move her neck.
The second woman, Meredith Watson, <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/im-willing-to-testify-in-public-justin-fairfax-should-too/2019/02/18/d2ff73f6-31ec-11e9-813a-0ab2f17e305b_story.html">accused</a> Fairfax of raping her back in 2000 when they were both students at Duke University.
Fairfax denied both allegations and said he was being targeted, but many Democrats abandoned him and called for him to resign.
The FBI later <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/fbi-investigating-origins-of-justin-fairfax-sexual-assault-allegations?author=Ashe+Schow&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=FBI+Investigating+Origins+Of+Justin+Fairfax+Sexual+Assault+Allegations">launched</a> a probe into the allegations and looked at whether there was a potential political motive at play. At the time, Fairfax said he was interviewed as part of an investigation into whether there was any benefit offered to his accusers.
During his run for governor in 2021, Fairfax compared himself to lynching victims. He accused Terry McAuliffe, one of his Democratic primary opponents, of treating him like George Floyd.
“Everyone here on the stage called for my immediate resignation, including Terry McAuliffe three minutes after a press release came out,” Fairfax said. “He treated me like George Floyd; he treated me like Emmett Till — no due process, immediately assumed my guilt. I have a son and a daughter. I don’t ever want my daughter to be assaulted, I don’t want my son to be falsely accused. And yet this is the real world that we live in.”
His claims did not garner much sympathy from Democrats, and he failed to break 5% in the Democratic primary election. After his failed gubernatorial bid, he left politics to enter the private sector.
Police suggested Thursday that Fairfax shot his wife because the couple was going through a messy divorce. They said that Fairfax was recently served papers related to the ongoing split.
“While he served as lieutenant governor, and even afterwards, was a rising star politically, not just in northern Virginia, but in Virginia, so it&#8217;s high-profile in nature,” Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis said Thursday. “It&#8217;s tragic in nature, certainly a fall from grace for a relatively high-profile family that seemingly had a lot of things going in their favor.”

Former Democratic lieutenant governor of Virginia Justin Fairfax murdered his wife before committing suicide overnight, police said Thursday. 
Police believe Fairfax shot his wife Cerina after a domestic incident at their home in Annandale, Virginia, just outside of Washington, D.C. Police waited hours to release the identities while they said they notified next of kin.
“Former Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax shot and killed his wife inside of their home, and then shot and killed himself,” police said Thursday, adding that the couple was in the middle of a messy divorce.
Police said that Fairfax and his wife were in the middle of an &#8220;ongoing domestic dispute&#8221; surrounding a &#8220;complicated or messy divorce.&#8221; They added that he was recently served some paperwork for an upcoming proceeding and that &#8220;apparently led to this incident last night.&#8221;
In January 2026, Fairfax claimed that he was assaulted by his wife and police were called to the home. That claim was not true, police said, adding that Cerina put cameras up throughout the house.
Local outlet Fox5 <a href="https://www.fox5dc.com/news/police-man-fatally-shot-woman-before-killing-himself-annandale-home">reported</a> that the first call to report the incident came shortly after midnight from someone who said he believed his father had stabbed his mother. Police arrived and found a woman unconscious and bleeding, discovering that she had been shot. The caller did not know where their father was, but police later found him dead in another part of the house.
The house was later identified as belonging to Fairfax and there were reportedly multiple people inside the house at the time of the suspected murder-suicide. Fairfax had two children, both teenagers, who were in the house at the time of the murder. One of the children was the person who called the police. 
The first information about the killing began trickling in shortly after midnight when police <a href="https://x.com/FairfaxCountyPD/status/2044647969354317927">posted an alert</a> on their investigation.
“Shortly after midnight, officers responded to the 8100 block of Guinevere Drive in Annandale, where they located an adult male and an adult female deceased inside of a residence. Preliminarily, it appears that the adult male shot the adult female before shooting himself in a domestic related incident. We were withholding the identities of the individuals until next of kin can be notified.”
Police added that “all parties are accounted for &amp; there is no threat to the community.”
Fairfax was the lieutenant governor of Virginia from 2018 to 2022 and faced sexual assault allegations in 2019 shortly after images of then Democratic Governor Ralph Northam wearing blackface emerged.
The FBI later <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/fbi-investigating-origins-of-justin-fairfax-sexual-assault-allegations">conducted</a> an investigation into how the allegations surfaced against Northam and probed whether they were politically motivated.
Fairfax later ran for governor in 2021, but did not make it out of the Democratic primary. During his time in office, he pushed for gun control, including restrictions on magazine capacity and so-called assault rifles. He also supported abortion and raising the minimum wage.

Tyler Robinson, the man accused of assassinating Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, allegedly wrote in a message to his trans-identifying boyfriend that he had an “opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and I took it,&#8221; according to new court documents.
Robinson sent his boyfriend, whom he referred to as &#8220;Luna,&#8221; a message on the day of the shooting at Utah Valley University that said, &#8220;drop what you are doing, look under my keyboard,&#8221; according to a search warrant affidavit <a href="https://www.ksl.com/article/51481672/tyler-killed-charlie-search-warrants-detail-messages-allegedly-sent-after-kirk-killing">obtained by KSL</a>.
“Luna, if you are reading this per my text, then I am so sorry. I left the house this morning on a mission, and sent an auto text. I am likely dead or facing a lengthy prison sentence. I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and I took it,” the letter states, according to KSL.
&#8220;I don&#8217;t know if I will/have succeeded, but I had hoped to make it home to you. I wish we could have lived in a world where this did not feel necessary. I wish I could have stayed for you and lived our lives together. I lack the words to express how much I love you, and how very much you mean to me. Please try and find joy in this life. The new details shed light on some of Robinson&#8217;s last communications before being taken into custody, including a group chat on Discord where an unidentified person said, “Tyler killed Charlie!!!!&#8221; per KSL.
&#8220;Hey guys, I have bad news for you all. It was me at UVU yesterday. I&#8217;m sorry for all this. I&#8217;m surrendering through a sheriff friend in a few moments. Thanks for all the good times and laughs, you&#8217;ve all been so amazing. Thank you all for everything,&#8221; Robinson allegedly said to the Discord group chat.
The unsealed documents also reveal that the state collected new DNA evidence, including &#8220;fingerprints and a smeared palm print in the vicinity of the northeast corner rooftop edge of the Losee Center building where Robinson dropped from the rooftop to the ground below,&#8221; <a href="https://www.eastidahonews.com/2026/04/tyler-killed-charlie-search-warrants-detail-messages-allegedly-sent-after-kirk-killing/">according to East Idaho News</a>.
Robinson is scheduled to be back in court on April 17, and if ultimately convicted, could face the death penalty.

Honduran national Yefry Archaga-Elvir, 18, was nabbed after a two-week manhunt. The illegal immigrant allegedly duped his victim, 15-year-old Miles Young, into thinking he was going to meet a girl in Springfield, Missouri, on March 12, <a href="https://www.ozarksfirst.com/news/springfield-mo-immigration-detainer/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Ozarks First.
Archaga-Elvir then allegedly ambushed Young.
Young was supposed to testify in a 2025 homicide, <a href="https://people.com/teen-thought-he-was-meeting-a-girl-but-prosecutors-say-he-was-walking-into-a-deadly-setup-11945795" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to multiple reports.
Witnesses warned Young against going to meet the girl over bad blood from the earlier case, <a href="https://www.ky3.com/2026/04/10/ice-issues-arrest-detainer-teenager-accused-deadly-shooting-another-teenager-near-springfieldmo/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to KY3. They said the girl &#8220;previously mentioned a dislike for him&#8221; and blamed Young for the victim&#8217;s death in the earlier case, <a href="https://people.com/teen-thought-he-was-meeting-a-girl-but-prosecutors-say-he-was-walking-into-a-deadly-setup-11945795" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to People.
The illegal immigrant crossed the border as a minor in 2015 and was subsequently released by federal authorities, <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2026/04/09/ice-requests-missouri-not-release-monstrous-illegal-alien-who-murdered-15-year-old" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
ICE lodged a detainer, asking local authorities to hand Archaga-Elvir over for deportation, DHS said. It is not yet clear if they will honor it.
“This animal was released into our country by the Obama administration. ICE lodged an arrest detainer requesting Missouri not release this depraved killer from jail into American neighborhoods,&#8221; Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Lauren Bis said in a statement.
The Honduran national and several other suspects are accused of using their vehicles to block Young&#8217;s vehicle before he tried to flee on foot, according to DHS. Witnesses reported that Archaga-Elvir, who was wearing a ski mask and carrying a Glock-style pistol, chased after Young and shot him in the chest, according to KY3.
The young boy then shouted out his last words: “I just don’t want to die,&#8221; DHS said.
Archaga-Elvir then allegedly “made a phone call” and “was braggadocious” about murdering Young, DHS said, citing a probable cause affidavit.
The illegal immigrant now faces first-degree murder and armed criminal action charges, according to KY3. He is being held without bond, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/ice-detainer-lodged-illegal-migrant-accused-murdering-15-year-old-missouri-boy-begged-life" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Fox News.
A second suspect, Praize King, 18, also faces charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with Young&#8217;s killing, Fox News reported.
In an earlier statement, the family described Young as &#8220;a compassionate, loving, and kind 15-year-old who brought light to everyone around him,&#8221; adding, &#8220;He was a big brother, a son, a grandson, and a friend … full of life and always showed care for others.&#8221;
&#8220;No parent should ever have to outlive and bury their child,&#8221; the statement continued.
