News of the ceasefire &#8220;changes nothing,&#8221; AOC later said, arguing the president launched a war without congressional authorization and is leveraging the threat of genocide.

Rep. Melania Stansbury (D-NM) urged administration officials to invoke the 25th Amendment, which would allow the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet to declare the president unfit to serve.

More than 85 House Democrats have called for President Trump&#8217;s removal from office, <a href="https://www.axios.com/2026/04/08/trump-impeachment-25th-amendment-iran-democrats">according to Axios.</a>
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) accused Trump of &#8220;threatening mass death if he doesn&#8217;t get his way.&#8221; She urged Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) to reconvene the chamber.

Cuomo is not the only one talking about impeachment as Democrats ramp up the fight for congressional control.
Rep. Al Green (D-TX) has already filed articles of impeachment, as has Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI) — and The Hill ran an <a href="https://thehill.com/opinion/white-house/5726969-trump-impeachment-restore-constitutional-faith/">opinion piece</a> on Monday calling not only for impeachment, but for Democrats to pack the Supreme Court as well.
Former House Speaker <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nancy-pelosi-says-democrats-shouldnt-try-to-impeach-trump-again">Nancy Pelosi</a> (D-CA) walked a finer line on the issue during a recent interview, cautioning members of her party to make sure that they only proceeded on a possible impeachment if they had good reason to do so. Pelosi did not indicate what constituted a good reason.

A lawmaker in Minnesota has filed articles of impeachment against embattled Democrat Gov. Tim Walz.
Walz has become a national focus in the wake of reports concerning a massive fraud scandal in his state, largely concerning Somali residents. A stunning press conference held by federal prosecutor Joseph Thompson last month confirmed that $9 billion – or potentially more – of taxpayer money could have been stolen during Walz’s tenure.
GOP state Rep. Mike Wiener announced on his Facebook page on Monday that he&#8217;s filed articles of impeachment against Walz  &#8220;I have officially filed Articles of Impeachment against Governor Tim Walz, initiating the impeachment process in the Minnesota House of Representatives,&#8221; he posted.
The articles accuse Walz of committing corrupt conduct and violating his oath of office.
The <a href="https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=871987045448886&amp;set=pcb.871987308782193">four articles specifically allege</a> that Walz knowingly concealed widespread fraud in the state’s Department of Human Services, despite repeated warnings; interfered with lawful oversight and investigation into the fraud; prioritized political considerations above lawful administration; and failed to execute laws of the state, specifically laws concerning stewardship of public funds.
&#8220;Democrat control of our state has led to 9 billion dollars of fraud that we currently know about,&#8221; Wiener <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/tim-walz-articles-of-impeachment-11356274">told</a> Newsweek.  &#8220;Governor Walz said &#8216;the buck stops with him.&#8217; Since he refused to resign the next step is impeachment. Our taxpayers are demanding this, and if the Democrats don&#8217;t support the impeachment they are complicit with the fraud.&#8221;
The impeachment effort would need to pass the Minnesota House and Senate, where control is split. As noted by Newsweek, both parties have 67 seats each, and Wiener said he would need one Democrat in a committee to vote with him for it to go to the House.
As outlined by Thompson, 14 taxpayer-funded programs in particular were found to be rife with fraud since 2018. Those programs cost $18 billion, and Thompson said it’s possible that half of that, or more, could have been fraudulently claimed.
“I think we’re an outlier in a bad way,” Thompson <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NirLDCHIpr0">said</a> of Minnesota. “You don’t see fraud on this scale in other states. … Every day we look under a rock and find a new $50 million fraud scheme. That shouldn’t be the case in a state of our size. Certainly other states have problems with frauds, but I think our problem is unique.”
Walz, who’s unsurprisingly in the hot seat over the scandal, has contended that Thompson is engaging in “sensationalism” and says there’s “<a href="https://www.startribune.com/walz-says-theres-no-evidence-of-9b-in-fraud-exposing-rift-between-state-and-feds/601549681">no evidence</a>” the scope is $9 billion or more.
Earlier this month, Walz announced that he won&#8217;t seek re-election as governor this year. In a lengthy statement, the Democrat claimed Minnesota has been unfairly targeted by the Trump administration and cited the ongoing fraud scandals that the Justice Department is investigating and prosecuting, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tim-walz-gets-more-bad-news-from-feds-after-massive-fraud-scandal-exposed">The Daily Wire</a> reported.
“Like many Minnesotans, I was glad to turn the page on 2025. It was an extraordinarily difficult year for our state. And it ended on a particularly sour note,” Walz said.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) admitted during a recent interview that she doesn&#8217;t believe her party should be chomping at the bit to impeach President Donald Trump in the next two years.
Pelosi, who presided over the House through two impeachments during Trump&#8217;s first term, argued that in 2019 and 2020, the Democrats had a solid reason for moving ahead with impeachment — and that there was no obvious reason to impeach him based on his actions in his second term.
Pelosi delivered her assessment during an appearance on the USA Today podcast &#8220;The Excerpt&#8221; with Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page, and Page asked whether she would be behind a third impeachment effort if Democrats were to regain control of the House after the 2026 midterm elections.

Pelosi went on to take potshots at Senate Republicans, blaming them for the fact that neither of Trump&#8217;s impeachments had been able to get across the finish line to conviction in the Senate — or removal from office, which appeared to be the end goal.

Thanedar&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/democrat-pulls-trigger-on-trump-impeachment-forcing-house-to-act">attempt to impeach</a> Trump — accusing the president of abuse of power, defiance of the Constitution, and tyranny — was short-lived as leaders within his own party pressured him to hold off after he initially demanded an immediate vote.

Green made the comments during a press conference in Illinois, where Democratic Texas state lawmakers fled over the weekend to deny the quorum needed to advance a Republican redistricting proposal.
As The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/texas-republicans-drop-new-congressional-map-that-would-flip-5-democrat-seats-red?author=Nathan+Gay&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=2&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Texas+Republicans+Drop+New+Congressional+Map+That+Would+Flip+5+Democrat+Seats+Red">reported</a>, the proposed map would shift Green&#8217;s Ninth Congressional District eastward into territory Trump carried by 15 points. Meanwhile, the 9th District&#8217;s current constituency would be packed into the vacant Democratic-held 18th District, according to Politico.
Trump has been <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-says-gop-can-get-five-more-house-seats-redistricting-just-one-state" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pushing</a> Texas and other states to draw their congressional maps with the expectation that Republicans would gain seats. In retaliation, Democrats have rallied for mid-decade redistricting in blue states. Shifting lines could give either party an edge in the 2026 midterm elections.
During his first term, Trump was impeached twice when the Democrats controlled the House. One inquiry dealt with Ukraine, and the other with January 6. Both efforts ended in acquittal by a GOP-led Senate.
The Democrats are currently powerless to secure a new impeachment inquiry because Republicans control both chambers of Congress. But that has not stopped Green, who has accused Trump of &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/house-democrat-moves-to-impeach-trump-over-dastardly-deeds" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dastardly deeds</a>&#8221; and sought to get Trump impeached again multiple times.
Most recently, in June, he put forward an impeachment resolution over Trump ordering strikes on Iran&#8217;s nuclear facilities without the consent of Congress. It was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/house-gop-responds-to-texas-dems-failed-resolution-to-impeach-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">defeated</a>, with the help of Democrats, in a 344-79 vote. That followed the House censuring Green in a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/10-dems-join-gop-to-censure-rep-al-green-for-heckling-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bipartisan fashion</a> for his outburst during Trump&#8217;s address to a joint session of Congress in March.
The Wall Street Journal just <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/voters-abandon-democrats-support-hits-lowest-level-in-more-than-three-decades-poll" target="_blank" rel="noopener">released</a> a poll that found the popularity of the Democratic Party has plunged to its lowest level in at least 35 years. However, if they manage to win back control of the lower chamber, House Democratic Caucus Chairman Pete Aguilar (D-CA) <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/congressional-black-caucus-leader-impeachable-trump-los-angeles-deployment" target="_blank" rel="noopener">indicated</a> last month that impeachment could make a comeback.
&#8220;There will be plenty of time, when [Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairwoman] Suzan DelBene guides us to the majority, for us to exercise oversight where we can ask some very difficult questions [about] the policies that the administration is going currently, but right now that isn&#8217;t our focus,&#8221; Aguilar said.

Texas Democratic Representative Al Green filed a resolution Tuesday to impeach President Trump over his ordering a strike on Iranian nuclear facilities without consulting Congress. The resolution was promptly shot down in a 344-79 <a href="https://clerk.house.gov/Votes/2025175">vote</a>.
Green’s <a href="https://algreen.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/algreen.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/final-draft-article-of-impeachment-2.pdf">resolution</a> alleged Trump was violating the separation of powers by disregarding the War Powers Clause of the Constitution by sanctioning a strike on three Iranian nuclear materials enrichment bases on June 21.
While announcing the resolution, Green said, “I take no delight in what I&#8217;m doing. I do this because I love my country. … I do it because I understand that the President of the United States of America has a duty to consult Congress before taking this country to war.”
“I do this because, if I do not, this authoritarian president that we currently have will continue to assume power,” Green added.
Although it was initially reported that Trump did not reach out to Democratic congressmen before the strikes, White House Press Secretary Karoline Levitt <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/leavitt-debunks-completely-false-report-that-top-dems-not-given-advanced-notice-of-iran-strikes">confirmed</a> that Trump spoke to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and attempted to reach House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) prior to the attack.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) praised Trump’s decisive actions in a <a href="https://x.com/SpeakerJohnson/status/1936602051431063760">post</a> on X.
“Leaders in Congress were aware of the urgency of this situation and the Commander-in-Chief evaluated that the imminent danger outweighed the time it would take for Congress to act,” Johnson said.
This is the second resolution Green has introduced since Trump took office for his second term. The <a href="https://algreen.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/algreen.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/h.res_.415-articles-of-impeachment-against-donald-john-trump.pdf">first resolution</a> was filed in May of this year and similarly claimed Trump’s actions were authoritarian.
Within hours of introducing the resolution, the House voted 344-79 to table it. 128 Democrats joined all 216 House Republicans against pushing forward the resolution.
This comes as Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/make-my-day-trump-dares-aoc-to-impeach-him">called out</a> Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) in a <a href="https://x.com/RapidResponse47/status/1937510767030600179?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1937510767030600179%7Ctwgr%5E6b8149f37078205de859342cd41e05e4b6e76136%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailywire.com%2Fnews%2Fmake-my-day-trump-dares-aoc-to-impeach-him">post</a> on Truth Social. “Democrats are the real threat to democracy, they&#8217;ll invent any excuse to impeach the president the moment they get power,” the National Republican Congressional Committee said in a statement following the vote. “128 Democrats just hid their beliefs and voted to table impeachment, clearly too scared to be honest and too weak to lead. This is not Green’s first – or even second – attempt at impeaching Trump. In Trump’s first term, Green alone introduced <a href="https://algreen.house.gov/impeachment">three separate resolutions</a> to impeach Trump. Green’s gripes in those resolutions range from bigotry to transphobia.
Green is well-known for his disruptive political behavior. Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-NY), the chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus, said on Tuesday that she believes President Donald Trump&#8217;s troop <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-sends-another-2000-national-guard-troops-to-l-a" target="_blank" rel="noopener">deployment</a> in response to the violent anti-ICE protests around Los Angeles is worthy of impeachment.
In a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3VMJlLi9nw" target="_blank" rel="noopener">press conference</a> on Capitol Hill, a reporter asked whether the descriptors that Democrats have applied to Trump&#8217;s actions — specifically: &#8220;lawlessness, and unconstitutional, and a violation of human rights&#8221; — would &#8220;rise to the level of impeachment&#8221; and whether they are &#8220;impeachable offenses.&#8221;
Clarke responded in the affirmative.
&#8220;Well, you know, I believe it is. I definitely believe it is,&#8221; the influential Democrat said, &#8220;but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.&#8221;
The president invoked the ire of Democrats for sending National Guardsmen and U.S. Marines to Los Angeles amid violent anti-ICE protests, leading to a legal standoff with California Governor Gavin Newsom, who <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/california-sues-trump-over-national-guard-deployment-says-president-manufactured-crisis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sued</a> the Trump administration and is trying to <a href="https://x.com/yashar/status/1932506908461838759" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stop</a> the deployment.

When asked about Clarke&#8217;s view on impeachment, House Democratic Caucus Chairman Pete Aguilar (D-CA) indicated his party is not ready to go there.
“I&#8217;ve said before, from this podium, that House Democrats aren’t focused on impeachment today,” Aguilar <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59sURASZvos" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> during another press conference. &#8220;We are focused on holding the president and House Republicans accountable for the policies that attack the basic needs, like health care and food assistance.&#8221;
Some Democrats have tried <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rejected-by-his-own-party-democrat-backs-down-on-forcing-trump-impeachment-vote" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pushing impeachment</a> during this session of Congress, accusing Trump of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/house-democrat-moves-to-impeach-trump-over-dastardly-deeds" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;dastardly deeds&#8221;</a> and other alleged offenses, but they have all fizzled out as the Republicans who are largely aligned with the president control the House.
But Aguilar went on to suggest an inquiry could be a consideration in the future — if Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairwoman Suzan DelBene (D-WA) leads her party to seize back the House with the midterm elections in 2026.
&#8220;There will be plenty of time, when Suzan DelBene guides us to the majority, for us to exercise oversight where we can ask some very difficult questions [about] the policies that the administration is going currently, but right now that isn&#8217;t our focus,&#8221; Aguilar said.

With members of his own party speaking out against his effort, the Democrat angling to compel the GOP-led House into taking action on seven articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump got cold feet.
Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI), who had been facing bipartisan opposition and likely would have seen his resolution tabled, announced on X that he would not be forcing a vote on Wednesday after speaking with his colleagues.
&#8220;Instead, I will add to my articles of impeachment and continue to rally the support of both Democrats and Republicans to defend the Constitution with me,&#8221; Thanedar said.
Thanedar asserted that Trump’s controversial plan to accept a roughly $400 million luxury aircraft known as the “Flying Palace” from Qatar was among the new impeachable offenses that Trump has committed.

However, Axios <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/05/13/donald-trump-impeachment-thanedar-democrats-react" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that Democrats privately criticized Thanedar as being a &#8220;dumbs***&#8221; and &#8220;utterly selfish&#8221; for pressing ahead with impeachment. Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and Whip Katherine Clark (D-MA) even told fellow Democrats they would vote to table the resolution ahead of time, <a href="https://x.com/allymutnick/status/1922655316845425122" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Punchbowl News.
Thanedar, a 70-year-old Indian immigrant serving his second term in the House, is facing primary challenges. The incumbent moved to force the House to act on impeachment following Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), a member of the leftist &#8220;Squad,&#8221; <a href="https://x.com/RashidaTlaib/status/1922006536223588774" target="_blank" rel="noopener">declaring</a> that she backed one of his rivals.
