Green made the comments during a press conference in Illinois, where Democratic Texas state lawmakers fled over the weekend to deny the quorum needed to advance a Republican redistricting proposal.
As The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/texas-republicans-drop-new-congressional-map-that-would-flip-5-democrat-seats-red?author=Nathan+Gay&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=2&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Texas+Republicans+Drop+New+Congressional+Map+That+Would+Flip+5+Democrat+Seats+Red">reported</a>, the proposed map would shift Green&#8217;s Ninth Congressional District eastward into territory Trump carried by 15 points. Meanwhile, the 9th District&#8217;s current constituency would be packed into the vacant Democratic-held 18th District, according to Politico.
Trump has been <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-says-gop-can-get-five-more-house-seats-redistricting-just-one-state" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pushing</a> Texas and other states to draw their congressional maps with the expectation that Republicans would gain seats. In retaliation, Democrats have rallied for mid-decade redistricting in blue states. Shifting lines could give either party an edge in the 2026 midterm elections.
During his first term, Trump was impeached twice when the Democrats controlled the House. One inquiry dealt with Ukraine, and the other with January 6. Both efforts ended in acquittal by a GOP-led Senate.
The Democrats are currently powerless to secure a new impeachment inquiry because Republicans control both chambers of Congress. But that has not stopped Green, who has accused Trump of &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/house-democrat-moves-to-impeach-trump-over-dastardly-deeds" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dastardly deeds</a>&#8221; and sought to get Trump impeached again multiple times.
Most recently, in June, he put forward an impeachment resolution over Trump ordering strikes on Iran&#8217;s nuclear facilities without the consent of Congress. It was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/house-gop-responds-to-texas-dems-failed-resolution-to-impeach-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">defeated</a>, with the help of Democrats, in a 344-79 vote. That followed the House censuring Green in a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/10-dems-join-gop-to-censure-rep-al-green-for-heckling-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bipartisan fashion</a> for his outburst during Trump&#8217;s address to a joint session of Congress in March.
The Wall Street Journal just <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/voters-abandon-democrats-support-hits-lowest-level-in-more-than-three-decades-poll" target="_blank" rel="noopener">released</a> a poll that found the popularity of the Democratic Party has plunged to its lowest level in at least 35 years. However, if they manage to win back control of the lower chamber, House Democratic Caucus Chairman Pete Aguilar (D-CA) <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/congressional-black-caucus-leader-impeachable-trump-los-angeles-deployment" target="_blank" rel="noopener">indicated</a> last month that impeachment could make a comeback.
&#8220;There will be plenty of time, when [Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairwoman] Suzan DelBene guides us to the majority, for us to exercise oversight where we can ask some very difficult questions [about] the policies that the administration is going currently, but right now that isn&#8217;t our focus,&#8221; Aguilar said.

Texas Democratic Representative Al Green filed a resolution Tuesday to impeach President Trump over his ordering a strike on Iranian nuclear facilities without consulting Congress. The resolution was promptly shot down in a 344-79 <a href="https://clerk.house.gov/Votes/2025175">vote</a>.
Green’s <a href="https://algreen.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/algreen.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/final-draft-article-of-impeachment-2.pdf">resolution</a> alleged Trump was violating the separation of powers by disregarding the War Powers Clause of the Constitution by sanctioning a strike on three Iranian nuclear materials enrichment bases on June 21.
While announcing the resolution, Green said, “I take no delight in what I&#8217;m doing. I do this because I love my country. … I do it because I understand that the President of the United States of America has a duty to consult Congress before taking this country to war.”
“I do this because, if I do not, this authoritarian president that we currently have will continue to assume power,” Green added.
Although it was initially reported that Trump did not reach out to Democratic congressmen before the strikes, White House Press Secretary Karoline Levitt <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/leavitt-debunks-completely-false-report-that-top-dems-not-given-advanced-notice-of-iran-strikes">confirmed</a> that Trump spoke to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and attempted to reach House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) prior to the attack.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) praised Trump’s decisive actions in a <a href="https://x.com/SpeakerJohnson/status/1936602051431063760">post</a> on X.
“Leaders in Congress were aware of the urgency of this situation and the Commander-in-Chief evaluated that the imminent danger outweighed the time it would take for Congress to act,” Johnson said.
This is the second resolution Green has introduced since Trump took office for his second term. The <a href="https://algreen.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/algreen.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/h.res_.415-articles-of-impeachment-against-donald-john-trump.pdf">first resolution</a> was filed in May of this year and similarly claimed Trump’s actions were authoritarian.
Within hours of introducing the resolution, the House voted 344-79 to table it. 128 Democrats joined all 216 House Republicans against pushing forward the resolution.
This comes as Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/make-my-day-trump-dares-aoc-to-impeach-him">called out</a> Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) in a <a href="https://x.com/RapidResponse47/status/1937510767030600179?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1937510767030600179%7Ctwgr%5E6b8149f37078205de859342cd41e05e4b6e76136%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailywire.com%2Fnews%2Fmake-my-day-trump-dares-aoc-to-impeach-him">post</a> on Truth Social. Trump urged them to try to impeach him to “MAKE MY DAY.” Both Ocasio-Cortez and Omar voted against tabling the bill.
“Democrats are the real threat to democracy, they&#8217;ll invent any excuse to impeach the president the moment they get power,” the National Republican Congressional Committee said in a statement following the vote. “128 Democrats just hid their beliefs and voted to table impeachment, clearly too scared to be honest and too weak to lead. Here&#8217;s the truth: If Democrats retake the Majority in 2026, out of touch Democrats won&#8217;t focus on the economy, border, or public safety. They&#8217;ll go right back to wasting time on political revenge and impeachment stunts.&#8221;
This is not Green’s first – or even second – attempt at impeaching Trump. In Trump’s first term, Green alone introduced <a href="https://algreen.house.gov/impeachment">three separate resolutions</a> to impeach Trump. Green’s gripes in those resolutions range from bigotry to transphobia.
Green is well-known for his disruptive political behavior. In March, Green was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/10-dems-join-gop-to-censure-rep-al-green-for-heckling-trump">censured</a> for heckling Trump during his address to a joint session of Congress. &#8220;The President’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers,&#8221; the high-profile member of the leftist &#8220;Squad&#8221; declared in a <a href="https://x.com/AOC/status/1936600627221565468" target="_blank" rel="noopener">post</a> on X. &#8220;He has impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations. Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-NY), the chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus, said on Tuesday that she believes President Donald Trump&#8217;s troop <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-sends-another-2000-national-guard-troops-to-l-a" target="_blank" rel="noopener">deployment</a> in response to the violent anti-ICE protests around Los Angeles is worthy of impeachment.
In a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3VMJlLi9nw" target="_blank" rel="noopener">press conference</a> on Capitol Hill, a reporter asked whether the descriptors that Democrats have applied to Trump&#8217;s actions — specifically: &#8220;lawlessness, and unconstitutional, and a violation of human rights&#8221; — would &#8220;rise to the level of impeachment&#8221; and whether they are &#8220;impeachable offenses.&#8221;
Clarke responded in the affirmative.
&#8220;Well, you know, I believe it is. I definitely believe it is,&#8221; the influential Democrat said, &#8220;but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.&#8221;
The president invoked the ire of Democrats for sending National Guardsmen and U.S. Marines to Los Angeles amid violent anti-ICE protests, leading to a legal standoff with California Governor Gavin Newsom, who <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/california-sues-trump-over-national-guard-deployment-says-president-manufactured-crisis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sued</a> the Trump administration and is trying to <a href="https://x.com/yashar/status/1932506908461838759" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stop</a> the deployment.

When asked about Clarke&#8217;s view on impeachment, House Democratic Caucus Chairman Pete Aguilar (D-CA) indicated his party is not ready to go there.
“I&#8217;ve said before, from this podium, that House Democrats aren’t focused on impeachment today,” Aguilar <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59sURASZvos" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> during another press conference. &#8220;We are focused on holding the president and House Republicans accountable for the policies that attack the basic needs, like health care and food assistance.&#8221;
Some Democrats have tried <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rejected-by-his-own-party-democrat-backs-down-on-forcing-trump-impeachment-vote" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pushing impeachment</a> during this session of Congress, accusing Trump of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/house-democrat-moves-to-impeach-trump-over-dastardly-deeds" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;dastardly deeds&#8221;</a> and other alleged offenses, but they have all fizzled out as the Republicans who are largely aligned with the president control the House.
But Aguilar went on to suggest an inquiry could be a consideration in the future — if Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairwoman Suzan DelBene (D-WA) leads her party to seize back the House with the midterm elections in 2026.

With members of his own party speaking out against his effort, the Democrat angling to compel the GOP-led House into taking action on seven articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump got cold feet.
Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI), who had been facing bipartisan opposition and likely would have seen his resolution tabled, announced on X that he would not be forcing a vote on Wednesday after speaking with his colleagues.
&#8220;Instead, I will add to my articles of impeachment and continue to rally the support of both Democrats and Republicans to defend the Constitution with me,&#8221; Thanedar said.
Thanedar asserted that Trump’s controversial plan to accept a roughly $400 million luxury aircraft known as the “Flying Palace” from Qatar was among the new impeachable offenses that Trump has committed.

Thanedar gave <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/democrat-pulls-trigger-on-trump-impeachment-forcing-house-to-act" target="_blank" rel="noopener">notice</a> on Tuesday that he would invoke privilege, a move that would push House GOP leadership to act on his impeachment resolution within two legislative days.
However, Axios <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/05/13/donald-trump-impeachment-thanedar-democrats-react" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that Democrats privately criticized Thanedar as being a &#8220;dumbs***&#8221; and &#8220;utterly selfish&#8221; for pressing ahead with impeachment. The outlet also <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/05/14/trump-impeachment-pelosi-thanedar-nadler" target="_blank" rel="noopener">disclosed</a> how Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) received applause from colleagues during a meeting after he cast the impeachment effort as &#8220;idiotic&#8221; and &#8220;horrible.&#8221;
Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and Whip Katherine Clark (D-MA) even told fellow Democrats they would vote to table the resolution ahead of time, <a href="https://x.com/allymutnick/status/1922655316845425122" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Punchbowl News.
Thanedar, a 70-year-old Indian immigrant serving his second term in the House, is facing primary challenges. The incumbent moved to force the House to act on impeachment following Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), a member of the leftist &#8220;Squad,&#8221; <a href="https://x.com/RashidaTlaib/status/1922006536223588774" target="_blank" rel="noopener">declaring</a> that she backed one of his rivals.
When he introduced his impeachment articles in April, Thanedar insisted that his effort was &#8220;not about partisanship,&#8221; but rather &#8220;protecting our democracy and ensuring that no one, not even a President, is above the law.&#8221;

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) released a <a href="https://mikejohnson.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=1594">statement</a> criticizing Democrats on the latest impeachment bid before Thanedar backed off.
“House Democrats have demonstrated once again they are willing to abuse the Constitution in their effort to impede the agenda of the American people. Their latest sham impeachment charade against President Trump is another embarrassing political stunt. Today, House Republicans will move promptly to discard it,&#8221; Johnson said.
&#8220;While Democrats are throwing fits, impeding law enforcement, playing political games, and demonstrating how far out of touch they are — Republicans are working to deliver lower taxes for families, restore American energy dominance, strengthen border security, restore peace through strength, and make government work more efficiently and effectively,&#8221; the speaker added. &#8220;The contrast has never been more clear.&#8221;

Rejected By His Own Party, Democrat Backs Down On Forcing Trump Impeachment Vote

A Democrat lawmaker is pushing the House toward a vote this week on seven articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump.
During an appearance on the House floor, Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI) announced that he intended to invoke privilege, which compels the GOP leadership to act on his impeachment resolution within two legislative days.
It&#8217;s likely that Republicans will move to table the measure, effectively squashing the effort.
Thanedar&#8217;s impeachment articles, which he <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/democrat-unveils-7-articles-of-impeachment-against-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">unveiled</a> in April, accuse Trump of committing various &#8220;high crimes and misdemeanors&#8221; over alleged constitutional violations related to taxpayer funds, deportations, tariffs, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), retaliation against the press, and more.
&#8220;Donald J. Trump has been committing crimes since day one,&#8221; Thanedar said during his remarks on Tuesday. After ticking off the focus of his impeachment articles, he also took note of Trump&#8217;s controversial plan to accept a roughly $400 million luxury aircraft known as the “Flying Palace” from Qatar.

In his first term, Trump was impeached twice, when the Democrats commanded the House. One inquiry dealt with Ukraine, and the other with January 6. Both efforts ended in acquittal by a GOP-led Senate. Rep. Al Green (D-TX) announced in February, just over two weeks after Inauguration Day, that he would <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/house-democrat-moves-to-impeach-trump-over-dastardly-deeds" target="_blank" rel="noopener">begin</a> a push to impeach Trump for &#8220;dastardly deeds.&#8221;
After Thanedar followed suit, revealing his seven articles of impeachment last month, Trump fired back with a lengthy post on X.

As Trump continued, he suggested that Republicans should consider expelling the Democrats who are perpetuating the impeachment efforts against him.
&#8220;These are very dishonest people that won’t let our Country heal! Why do we allow them to continuously use Impeachment as a weapon against the President of the United States who, by all accounts, is working hard to SAVE OUR COUNTRY,” Trump said.
Meanwhile, top Democrats in the House refused to endorse Thanedar&#8217;s impeachment bid.
House Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar (D-CA) <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0k1NTbGeI64" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> reporters that impeachment was &#8220;not an exercise that we’re willing to undertake&#8221; given doubts that Republicans would get on board. And House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) <a href="https://www.youtube.com/live/5k7gZd2JnKg" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> he would not have &#8220;anything further to add&#8221; until he speaks with Thanedar.

Democrat Pulls Trigger On Trump Impeachment, Forcing House To Act

On Tuesday, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) declined to rule out impeaching federal judges in this session of Congress, although he emphasized the &#8220;very high burden&#8221; required for such a significant course of action.
Johnson clarified his position as House GOP leadership has faced pressure from some Republican lawmakers and President Donald Trump, who have pushed for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/impeachathon-ensnares-growing-number-of-get-trump-judges" target="_blank" rel="noopener">impeaching</a> or <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/proposal-remove-judge-blocked-trump-deportation-flights-without-impeachment" target="_blank" rel="noopener">otherwise</a> trying to remove judges who have ruled against the current administration&#8217;s policies over the view that they are acting as leftist activists.
&#8220;Look, impeachments are never off the table if it&#8217;s merited. But in our system, we&#8217;ve had 15 federal judges impeached in the entire history of the country,&#8221; Johnson said in response to a reporter&#8217;s question during a press conference on Capitol Hill. &#8220;I mean, there may be some that I feel merit that, but you’ve got to get the votes for it, right? And it&#8217;s a very high burden. And, frankly, the bar is high crimes and misdemeanors.&#8221;

Johnson noted how difficult it would be for the Senate to agree on conviction — which would result in removal from office — given that it requires a two-thirds majority. Republicans have only a slim, 53-seat majority in the upper chamber, and Democrats and the independents who caucus with them likely would oppose any such effort.
&#8220;Even if we could get an impeachment article through the House on a federal judge, it&#8217;s unlikely that they would be tried and convicted in the Senate on that, with the divided number we have,&#8221; he said. &#8220;So, short of that, what can we do?&#8221;
Johnson highlighted legislation from Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), which aims to restrict federal judges from issuing nationwide injunctions, as a means to curb judicial activism or venue shopping. The bill, named the &#8220;No Rogue Rulings Act,&#8221; <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/house-curb-nationwide-injunctions-anti-trump-judges" target="_blank" rel="noopener">passed</a> through the House last month, but has yet to be taken up by the Senate.
&#8220;Darrell Issa&#8217;s bill is a great response. The &#8216;No Rogue Rulings Act&#8217; would prohibit a single individual judgment issuing a nationwide injunction like that to stop the entire policy of an administration,&#8221; Johnson said. &#8220;We passed it through the House, we sent it to the Senate with every expectation that they should be able to take that up. And I certainly hope they can, because, again, shouldn&#8217;t be a partisan issue.&#8221;

Thanedar&#8217;s filing, which came just ahead of the president marking his first 100 days in office, accused Trump of obstruction of justice, abuse of power, violation of power, bribery and corruption, citing the deportation of illegal alien gang member Kilmar Abrego-Garcia to his home country of El Salvador and claiming that the Department Of Government Efficiency (DOGE) was usurping congressional authority. Rep. Al Green (D-TX), who was censured for disrupting Trump&#8217;s address before a joint session of Congress, has also promised to introduce impeachment articles.
Trump went on to offer sarcastic suggestions as to possible reasons he might be facing yet another impeachment filing: &#8220;Maybe it should be for cleaning up the MESS that they left us on the Border, or the Highest Inflation in our Country’s History or, perhaps, it should be the incompetent Withdrawal from Afghanistan, or Russia, Russia, Russia/Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine, or the Attack of Israel on October 7th that only proceeded because they allowed Iran to regain Great Wealth.&#8221;

In a video posted on social media, Thanedar claimed the &#8220;final straw&#8221; was Trump defying a Supreme Court ruling that the government must &#8220;facilitate&#8221; the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an illegal immigrant deported to his home country of El Salvador.

The announcement came hours after Michigan state Rep. Donavan McKinney launched a 2026 primary campaign for the Detroit-area district against Thanedar, a 70-year-old Indian immigrant serving his second term in the House. McKinney joins former state Sen. Adam Hollier, who is challenging Thanedar for a <a href="https://www.freep.com/story/news/politics/elections/2025/04/14/adam-hollier-shri-thanedar-detroit-congressional-district/83080051007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">third time</a>, and has already received an <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/5270956-michigan-state-rep-challenges-thanedar/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">endorsement</a> from the leftist Justice Democrats.

&#8220;This is not about partisanship,&#8221; Thanedar said in his statement. &#8220;It’s about protecting our democracy and ensuring that no one, not even a President, is above the law.&#8221;

On Sunday, embattled Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) would not rule out prioritizing another impeachment effort against President Donald Trump if Democrats take back power in Congress after the 2026 midterm elections.
CNN anchor Dana Bash pressed Schumer on the question during an interview on &#8220;State of the Union,&#8221; noting how Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) said he &#8220;<a href="https://www.cnn.com/2025/04/25/politics/jon-ossoff-trump-impeachment/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">strongly</a>&#8221; agreed that Trump needs to be impeached.
&#8220;Your colleague from Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff told voters at a town hall that he &#8216;strongly&#8217; agrees that President Trump should be impeached. Do you agree with him? Would that be a priority if Democrats were to take back Congress?&#8221; Bash asked.
&#8220;Well, look, right now, President Trump is violating rule of law in every way,&#8221; Schumer claimed. &#8220;We&#8217;re fighting him every single day in every way. And our goal is to show the American people over and over again, whether it&#8217;s the economy, whether it&#8217;s tariffs, whether it&#8217;s Russia and overseas, and whether it&#8217;s rule of law, how bad he is. Schumer would not take a stance either way. &#8220;Look, it&#8217;s too far away to even judge,&#8221; he said.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) delivered a quick fact-check to Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) during a Tuesday hearing, using her own previous actions to discredit her current position on the impeachment of judges.
Crockett, along with several other Democrats, used her time during the committee hearing to complain that democracy itself would be left in shambles if Republicans were to succeed in impeaching any of the judges who have unilaterally blocked President Donald Trump’s administration from taking certain actions.

“The problem that we have right now is that if we continue down this road, we will not have a rule of law because we have people that are currently serving and they’re saying things like, ‘Ignore the judge’s order.’”
Making no mention of the fact that President Joe Biden had done exactly that when he pushed ahead with student loan forgiveness despite a Supreme Court decision stating that he did not have the authority to do so, Crockett continued.
“What it means to have law and order in this country is that you follow the order and you go through the appeals process even if you dislike what the judge did,” Crockett said before yielding back her time.
She relied, as have other Democrats and media talking heads alike, on the narrative claiming that Republicans wanted to impeach the federal judges over rulings they “did not like” — despite the fact that the reasoning given by those calling for impeachment is rooted instead in those judges’ alleged abuses of power.
Issa stepped in briefly then, observing that when Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) had introduced articles of impeachment against conservative Supreme Court Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas, Crockett herself had co-sponsored the move.
“It does seem interesting that when the shoe is on the other foot, everyone is self-righteous!” Issa said before moving on to the next agenda item.
