Comedians Joe Rogan and Shane Gillis trashed communism on Rogan&#8217;s podcast Thursday — then argued in the same breath that Americans should get free healthcare, with Rogan calling billionaire wealth &#8220;the problem with capitalism.&#8221;
Gillis said free healthcare &#8220;would be a good move&#8221; during the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBH4F5a6zAA&amp;t=10697s">episode</a> — and argued that supporting it does not make someone a communist. Rogan agreed. The two were joined by fellow comedians Mark Normand and Ari Shaffir.
&#8220;Communism is the gayest sh*t ever,&#8221; Gillis said. &#8220;Somebody needs to look into how gay communism is.&#8221;
&#8220;But isn&#8217;t it crazy that it&#8217;s making a comeback?&#8221; Rogan asked. &#8220;It always does. It&#8217;s a cycle.&#8221;
&#8220;The problem is if we could not call it communism if we get free healthcare,&#8221; Gillis added. &#8220;That would be a good move. We&#8217;re calling everybody communists. Free healthcare is cool. We should have that. That&#8217;s not communism. Communism is no private property.&#8221;
Rogan agreed, saying, &#8220;We should treat the whole country like it&#8217;s a community. If you have a community, would you want the sickest person to f*cking die, who could be very valuable if you could take care of them, if you have the resources to take care of them? You should take care of them.&#8221;
&#8220;This is the problem with capitalism, this is the reason people turn on all these billionaires,&#8221; Rogan added. &#8220;They turn on them because [they say], &#8216;Why do you have so much when people have so little?&#8217; But it&#8217;s because it&#8217;s the game, it&#8217;s the game that they&#8217;re playing, and you&#8217;re playing the game to — you&#8217;re just not playing it at that level.&#8221;
Normand then pushed back a little on Rogan&#8217;s statement.
&#8220;But again, these rich people pay a lot [in taxes] and give a lot of services,&#8221; Normand said.
&#8220;There&#8217;s that, but also the services, the amount of money they get, is all going to corrupt people that are funneling it into their own bank accounts. That&#8217;s the problem with it all,&#8221; Rogan replied.
Free healthcare of the sort Rogan and Gillis described already exists across the developed world, with mixed results. In Canada, where taxpayers fund the system, the median wait for a family doctor&#8217;s referral to treatment was 28.6 weeks in 2025 — the second longest on record — according to the Fraser Institute. Nearly 6 million Canadian adults have no regular family doctor at all, a survey by St. Michael&#8217;s Hospital and the Canadian Medical Association found. In England, the National Health Service backlog stood at roughly 7.1 million cases this spring, and the health service has not met its 18-week treatment standard since 2016.
Rogan, who describes himself as politically independent, endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in the 2020 Democratic primary and endorsed President Donald Trump on the eve of the 2024 election. Sanders even endorsed one of Rogan&#8217;s healthcare takes last year.
&#8220;I think healthcare 100% should be socially funded. I think that Medicare and Medicaid — having programs where people who are hurt can get an operation, and it&#8217;s not going to bankrupt them for the rest of their life,&#8221; Rogan said in March 2025, adding, &#8220;It should be a part of our agreement to take care of each other as a community, that we chip in money for what people would think of as socialist positions.&#8221;
&#8220;Joe Rogan is absolutely right about this,&#8221; Sanders said.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is pushing back against left-wingers who blamed him for Francesca Hong’s narrow defeat in Wisconsin’s Democratic gubernatorial primary, arguing that he simply does not have the resources or ability to endorse every candidate favored by the Left.
“My response is that we have limited resources and capabilities, and there are a lot of really great candidates who have run for office who we have not endorsed,” Sanders told <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2026/08/13/bernie-sanders-wisconsin-progressives-hong-01037121">Politico</a> Wednesday. 
“We can’t endorse every single candidate,” he added, while praising Hong for running a “very, very great, and very strong, grassroots campaign.”
Sanders’ comments come after Hong’s upset defeat triggered a blame game among the left, with some arguing that the Vermont senator and other national leaders could have tipped the race in Hong’s favor had they gotten involved.
Hong, a Democratic Socialist of America member, entered Tuesday’s primary as the overwhelming polling favorite but narrowly lost to Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, who had the backing of Democratic Gov. Tony Evers. Crowley defeated Hong by roughly 3,000 votes.
The result immediately <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hongs-stunning-loss-has-some-on-the-left-breathing-a-sigh-of-relief">prompted criticism</a> from some of Sanders’ allies and other figures on the Left. 
Nathan J. Robinson, editor of the left-wing magazine Current Affairs, said Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) were “directly responsible for Hong’s loss,” while DSA political operative Deep Singh Badhesha argued that a single rally from Sanders or Ocasio-Cortez could have been enough to put Hong over the top.
Cenk Uygur, co-founder of the Young Turks and Justice Democrats, likewise argued that Sanders and other left-wing leaders have a responsibility to support candidates throughout the country. 
“If they endorse people, it makes a difference. If they don’t endorse people these days, sometimes it makes a bigger difference,” Uygur told Politico.
Uygur also took issue with Sanders’ earlier explanation for staying out of the race. Sanders <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dsas-anti-thanksgiving-governor-candidate-is-even-too-far-for-bernie">had said</a> on the “Pod Save America” podcast that he was “not that familiar” with the Wisconsin contest. 
“I love Bernie, but that’s not true. Sorry, brother, but you have a giant team,” Uygur said. “Of course somebody on your team knows who’s running for governor in Wisconsin.”
Our Revolution, the organization created out of Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign, also criticized the broader left-wing movement after Hong’s loss. 
“We cannot build progressive power while gatekeeping our own movement through the eyes of the establishment,” the group wrote Wednesday.
Sanders, however, sought to distance himself from the organization.
 “Our Revolution is an organization I’ve not had any interaction with, any participation with … for I think nine years,” Sanders said. “They do what they want and they say what they want. They have nothing to do with me.” 
Our Revolution declined to comment on Sanders’ remarks.
Sanders instead pointed to several far-left candidates he endorsed who won their respective Democratic primaries, including Minnesota Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, Wisconsin congressional candidate Rebecca Cooke, and Minnesota congressional candidate Matt Little.
“Needless to say, I’m feeling really very good,” Sanders said. 
Sanders has increasingly used his political operation to back insurgent candidates this cycle, with his endorsements helping candidates including Flanagan and Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed win their primaries. 
Ocasio-Cortez has also campaigned for leftist candidates but declined to endorse Hong, saying her focus was on winning back Congress.
But Hong’s loss also came after weeks of scrutiny over her past statements and positions, including calls to abolish police and prisons and controversial comments about Thanksgiving and American culture. Evers repeatedly argued that Hong was spending too much of the campaign defending her past social media posts rather than discussing issues.
Crowley will now face Republican Rep. Tom Tiffany to determine control of the Wisconsin governor’s mansion.

Francesca Hong’s stunning defeat in Wisconsin’s Democratic gubernatorial primary has triggered a bitter debate on the Left, with some prominent Democrats and activists arguing that the socialist candidate’s loss may ultimately be good for their movement.
Hong, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, entered Tuesday’s primary as the heavy favorite after surging to the top of the field. But Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, who reentered the race just weeks before the election with the backing of Democratic Gov. Tony Evers, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/david-crowley-stuns-socialist-frontrunner-in-wisconsin-dem-governor-primary?author=Daily+Wire+News&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Socialist+Frontrunner%E2%80%99s+Stunning+Collapse+Hands+Wisconsin+Dems+A+November+Lifeline">pulled off the upset</a> by roughly 3,000 votes.
The razor-thin loss has exposed a divide within the Left over whether Hong’s campaign represented a missed opportunity for the burgeoning socialist movement or a warning about the limits of its appeal in a battleground state. 
“There’s a reason the institutional left mostly stayed away,” one Democratic operative who works with left-wing campaigns told <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2026/08/12/dsa-progressive-francesca-hong-wisconsin-01035101">Politico</a>. “The people who made those calls are relieved.”
A donor adviser who works with left-wing candidates similarly described Hong’s loss as “a good thing for the movement,” arguing that the results showed voters may be receptive to left-wing policies, but that candidate quality still matters. 
“This is a far better outcome,” the adviser said, arguing that a candidate who avoided some of Hong’s more controversial statements could have won.
The reluctance of the Democratic Party’s most prominent socialist figures to back Hong has become a major source of anger among her supporters.

Their absence stood in sharp contrast to the national support given to other left-wing candidates this year, including Sanders-backed Minnesota Senate candidate <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/candidate-known-for-pro-trans-knife-shirt-defeats-dem-establishment-pick-in-senate-race">Peggy Flanagan</a> and Michigan Senate candidate <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/abdul-el-sayed-secures-far-lefts-biggest-victory-yet-over-dem-establishment">Abdul El-Sayed</a>— both won their primaries.
“This movement will fail if we see more letdowns at the critical moment, like we saw in this race,” said Nathan J. Robinson, editor of the leftist magazine Current Affairs. “Especially if AOC wants to be taken seriously as a national leader of the left movement, she needs to actually support the candidates out there who have a chance to notch victories.”
DSA political operative Deep Singh Badhesha similarly argued that the race could have ended differently if Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez had intervened. 
“Wisconsin being this close is very frustrating because folks like AOC and Bernie Sanders stayed out,” Badhesha said. “If they just did one rally in Wisconsin for Hong, that would have probably wrapped it up for her.”
But Hong’s defeat was not merely a consequence of a lack of national support. Her campaign was dogged by a series of controversial past statements that gave Democrats concerned about the November general election ample reason to keep their distance.
Hong previously called for Thanksgiving to be canceled, wrote that police “exist to uphold white supremacy” and should be “defund[ed] then abolish[ed],” and made controversial comments about race and American culture. The controversy became particularly damaging in the final weeks of the campaign, as Crowley successfully framed himself as the more electable Democrat in a state where Republicans are eager to reclaim the governor’s mansion.
Even Evers, who ultimately backed Crowley, warned that Hong was putting too much emphasis on controversies surrounding her social media posts. 
“I think she’s in a tough place,” Evers <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/from-piker-to-bernie-nobody-wants-to-be-seen-with-francesca-hong?author=Jacob+Wheeler&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=From+Piker+To+Bernie%2C+Nobody+Wants+To+Be+Seen+With+Francesca+Hong">said</a> before the election. “She has spent her entire campaign dealing not with the issues, but what’s on the Twitter.”
Hong’s loss also comes amid a broader debate over whether a string of recent Democratic primary victories represents a genuine socialist insurgency or simply a series of candidate-specific successes. 
Still, not everyone on the Left views the result as a setback. Hasan Piker, the left-wing streamer who campaigned heavily for Hong, <a href="https://x.com/DSA_Watch/status/2087610635026886950">argued</a> Wednesday that the campaign’s ability to generate significant turnout without support from Sanders, Ocasio-Cortez or major establishment Democrats was itself an accomplishment. 
“The fact that she was able to, alongside the local DSA chapters, the fact that this campaign was able to bring this much turnout is incredible,” Piker said. “Do not let anybody discourage you.”
For Hong’s most committed supporters, however, the frustration is increasingly directed toward the national leaders who they believe abandoned a candidate who had a genuine chance to win.
For other Democrats on the Left, the lesson is almost the opposite: Hong’s defeat may have prevented a potentially damaging general election campaign and demonstrated that the party’s most radical candidates still face significant limits when they move beyond deep-blue districts and into statewide battlegrounds.
Crowley will now face Republican Rep. Tom Tiffany in November, with both parties fighting for control of Wisconsin’s governor’s mansion after Evers announced he would not seek another term.

Democrat candidate Abdul El-Sayed wants to take leftist Senator Bernie Sanders&#8217; (I-VT) scheme to take “public ownership” of artificial intelligence companies one “step further.”
El-Sayed, the Democrats&#8217; nominee in Michigan to replace Senator Gary Peters, said during a recent <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lC1H8XEAMDM">podcast appearance</a> that he wants an expansive “system of public control” when it comes to AI companies. His comments come as he makes the debate over data centers a large focus of his campaign. 
“I want to actually take it a step further,” El-Sayed said on June 12 when asked on the Head in the Office podcast if he agreed with Sanders’ proposal for public ownership in AI companies. “I agree that we need public ownership, but I also agree that we need some system of public control. Like, what is the point of democracy if it&#8217;s not to protect us from existential risk?”
The data center debate has dominated national headlines, dividing communities about whether the entities drive up utility prices or benefit local economies. El-Sayed’s solution to the debate is for the federal government to step in and issue sweeping zoning regulations. 
Sanders <a href="https://www.sanders.senate.gov/press-releases/news-sanders-introduces-legislation-to-create-7-trillion-ai-sovereign-wealth-fund/">proposed</a> in June to “give the public a direct ownership stake in the largest AI companies” by passing a 50% tax on the corporations’ stock. Money from that tax would be put into a sovereign wealth fund, a state owned investment pool. 
On his campaign website, El-Sayed <a href="https://abdulforsenate.com/2026/06/dr-abdul-el-sayed-announces-ai-policy-platform-ai-under-democracy/">describes</a> himself as “the only candidate in the Michigan Senate race to support public ownership of AI, and one of the only U.S. Senate candidates to do so nationwide” and touted his advocacy for “public control” of AI companies.
El-Sayed said that the government should be able to “shut down” AI companies if they don’t follow specific guidelines like using union labor and having a community benefits agreement. 
During the same podcast, El-Sayed suggested that taxpayer dollars should pay for transgender procedures for kids. 
“Health care should be a choice made by a patient and their doctor,” he said. “If that patient is under the age of 18, their parents as well, right? And I believe that Medicare for all should cover all health care which is defined by what a patient needs in accordance with their doctor. So that includes reproductive rights, right?  That includes gender-affirming care.”
While openly campaigning on a leftist platform including abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), El-Sayed has scrubbed some of his previous views from the public record. He <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/yes-michigans-abdul-el-sayed-really-wants-to-defund-the-police-here-are-the-receipts">deleted</a> numerous posts advocating for defund the police policies and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/abdul-el-sayed-scrubs-video-revealing-second-amendment-plans?author=Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=0&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Abdul+El-Sayed+Scrubs+Video+Revealing+Second+Amendment+Plans">hid videos</a> showing him ranting about the dangers of fireworks and suggesting the Second Amendment should be taken away. 
Republicans have focused much of their attention on El-Sayed’s radical rhetoric. 
“Hide your kids, hide your paycheck, and hide your private insurance. Abdul El-Sayed is an insult to all doctors for wanting to chop up children’s body parts,” Republican National Committee spokeswoman Chloe Crawford told The Daily Wire. “He will stop at nothing — even hurting little kids — in his crusade to turn America into communist China.”

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is demanding that the nation’s leading artificial intelligence companies immediately pause development, warning that Congress will intervene if they refuse to slow down.
Sanders sent a <a href="https://www.sanders.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/AI-Pause-Letter-FINAL.pdf">letter</a> Monday to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, arguing that recent incidents in which companies lost control of AI models, along with researchers&#8217; use of AI to create new viruses, show that the technology has reached a dangerous threshold. 
“Mr. Altman, Mr. Amodei and Mr. Zuckerberg: In the interest of humanity, stand by your words. Pause AI development,” Sanders wrote. “It is not too late to avoid disaster. Stop building machines that humans cannot control.”
“Let me be very clear: If you do not take appropriate action now, my colleagues and I in the U.S. Senate will,” he concluded.
Sanders pointed to recent disclosures involving OpenAI, Anthropic, and Meta in which AI models acted outside their intended parameters, including instances in which models hacked into other companies’ computer systems. 
He also cited a recent study in which researchers used AI to create <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ai-just-created-viruses-never-before-seen-on-earth">new viruses</a>, warning that the technology in the wrong hands could be used to develop bioweapons capable of killing “tens of millions of people.”
“These technology leaders recently called for the international community to create a safety mechanism — a pause button — to avoid catastrophe,” Sanders wrote. “And yet, at a moment when we have seen human loss of control and the creation of potentially dangerous viruses, your companies are still racing ahead.”
Sanders argued that the companies are violating their own previous commitments to halt or slow development if their systems become too dangerous to control. 
Anthropic previously said it would “commit to pause the scaling and/or delay the deployment of new models” if its ability to scale AI outpaced its ability to comply with its safety procedures — a statement it withdrew in February. Meta said in 2025 that it would stop development if a frontier AI system reached a critical risk threshold that could not be mitigated.
OpenAI similarly pledged to halt further development if AI capabilities reached a “critical” threshold until adequate safeguards were implemented. 
“That moment is here,” Sanders argued. “AI capabilities HAVE reached a critical threshold.”
His demand comes as some of the people developing the world&#8217;s most advanced AI systems are themselves calling for mechanisms to slow the technology if its development begins moving too quickly.
More than 1,100 employees at companies including OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta, and Google signed a statement last month urging the United States to back an international effort to build the technical and governance tools needed to deliberately pace frontier AI development.
OpenAI also <a href="https://www.axios.com/2026/08/07/openai-astra-model-delay-cybersecurity-risks">announced</a> last week that it was slowing the release of its new Astra model after concerns about its cybersecurity capabilities.
Sanders has previously pushed for a moratorium on AI data center construction, arguing that the government needs time to establish stronger safeguards around the technology. He <a href="https://www.sanders.senate.gov/press-releases/news-sanders-ocasio-cortez-announce-ai-data-center-moratorium-act/">introduced legislation</a> with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) earlier this year that would pause construction of new AI data centers until federal safeguards were established.
 His latest demand would go substantially further, targeting the development of the AI models themselves.
The push also puts Sanders at odds with the Trump administration&#8217;s broader approach to AI, which has emphasized maintaining American technology leadership and competing with China.
Sanders did not specify what congressional action he and other senators would pursue if the companies refuse to pause development.
For now, Sanders is putting the industry on notice: He wants the companies to stop developing increasingly powerful AI systems — or he says Congress will do it for them.

The highest-profile socialists in Congress have refused to endorse or campaign with Thanksgiving-hating Francesca Hong as Wisconsin voters head to the polls Tuesday, setting up a potential make-or-break moment for the socialist wing’s summer surge momentum.
“I don’t think so,” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/wisconsin-dem-gov-says-socialist-candidate-is-in-a-tough-place-after-thanksgiving-uproar">said</a> last week when asked if he would endorse Hong on the “Pod Save America” podcast. “I met Francesca a couple of years ago, [when] I was in Wisconsin. And she was very, very nice. But, again, this is a race I just am not that familiar with.” 
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) also <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/house/6019083-ocasio-cortez-declines-hong-endorsement/">turned down</a> the opportunity to support Hong. “I haven’t endorsed in that race. My focus has been in winning back the Congress, winning back the House, and positioning ourselves to have the best chance possible to win the Senate,” she told ABC News, while joking that her and other socialist politicians’ calls to &#8220;defund the police&#8221; were just a “crazy, Woke 1” era.
In response to the cold shoulders, Hong said she will seek additional conversations with her Left-wing skeptics. 
“I have so much respect for the senator and the congresswoman, and they are working tirelessly to make sure that we can flip Congress and the Senate and get Democrats wins in the midterms. I look forward to conversations with them about that, too,” she <a href="https://x.com/BreitbartNews/status/2087206182838555014?s=20">told</a> reporters. 
Hasan Piker, the leftist streamer who has <a href="https://x.com/hasanthehun/status/2083913145555308913?s=20">enthusiastically backed</a> Hong, is also sitting out Tuesday&#8217;s final push, according to Politico. 
Hong, a dues-paying member of the Democratic Socialists of America, holds a <a href="https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/governor/democratic-primary/2026/wisconsin">commanding polling lead</a> going into Wisconsin’s contentious Democratic gubernatorial primary against establishment-backed David Crowley. Crowley, the Milwaukee County executive, has the endorsement of outgoing Democratic Governor Tony Evers, who leaned on moderate politics to keep Republicans out of the governor’s mansion for nearly a decade.
“I think she’s in a tough place. She has spent her entire campaign dealing not with the issues, but what’s on the Twitter, and I just find that that’s not a good way to beat Tom Tiffany,” Evers said of Hong. “It’s going to be tough … but I think she’s at a real disadvantage, especially since she spends a lot of time talking about Twitter.”

Senator John Fetterman, the last rational human in the Democratic Party, said he didn’t think it was his job to come together with somebody who thinks that America basically deserved 9/11.
He was speaking of Michigan Democratic senatorial candidate Abdul El-Sayed campaigning with Hasan Piker, who literally said that America deserved 9/11.
Fetterman was asked by Wolf Blitzer, “How should members of your party, the Democratic Party, come together to defeat the Republican candidate?”
Fetterman answered, “I can&#8217;t come together with someone if you are willing to embrace people that love Hamas or that think America deserved 9/11.”
Fetterman did win a very competitive race in Pennsylvania, yet his own party is ready to go after him because he is pro-Israel.
Fetterman has voted with the Democrats on every economic matter. He simply doesn&#8217;t want to break the filibuster or destroy Israel.

And this is why El-Sayed wants his head “on a pike.”
That is a direct quote. El-Sayed said during a Zoom call:

So, you know, and then what happens is, ideally, you put one ogre on a pike, and then everyone else gets the message and all of a sudden starts to sound a lot different.</blockquote>
And here’s a shocker: Jon Stewart also blamed Fetterman. That’s because all Jon Stewart cares about — because he&#8217;s such a partisan hack — is the maintenance of the Democratic coalition.
It turns out that coalition includes people who — if they had a shot and were in a foreign country — would behead Jon Stewart because he is a Jew.
But that doesn&#8217;t matter to Jon Stewart, whose willful ignorance about all of this is incredible. 
It should be noted that Jon Stewart is as Jewish as a ham sandwich, the same as Bernie Sanders. He doesn&#8217;t practice Judaism. He has no relationship with Judaism. He doesn&#8217;t care about Judaism. He doesn&#8217;t care about Israel. He doesn&#8217;t care about any Jewish principles.
He just puts on the Jew hat every so often so that he can claim to speak in the name of the Jews while excusing antisemitism or Islamism.
So he attacked Fetterman: “Why are you blaming them when in some ways you could be blaming yourself and your colleagues?”
“I&#8217;m not blaming. I&#8217;m describing here where we’re at and what&#8217;s happening,” Fetterman answered. “When we have people winning elections, saying absurd kinds of positions that were absolutely toxic back in 2020 — stop saying these kinds of extreme things that are not workable in the real world. Don&#8217;t we want to win?”
Meanwhile, another person born a Jew, but not really a Jew, Bernie Sanders, is out there saying that you have to ride or die with people who say that America deserved 9/11.
He was asked, “Piker has said America deserved 9/11. Are you comfortable with that association?”
“No, I am not. I think that&#8217;s a dumb statement,” Sanders responded, but then added, “On the other hand, he has a whole lot of followers, and there&#8217;s a lot of things that he&#8217;s saying that are making sense to a lot of people. I think, you know, we have to get above cancel culture. You know, when you&#8217;re doing radio, whatever they do, podcasts three hours a day, you say dumb things. I suspect if you go back over your career, there may be one or two things that you said that you may have regretted. But I think what we have got to do is look at the totality of where people are coming from and go forward.”
It&#8217;s all about the coalition, the “big tent.”
Sanders is the moral leader of the Democratic Party at this point.
Meanwhile, Piker says that everyone who doesn&#8217;t vote for El-Sayed is Islamophobic.
This is always the last resort, the cheap last resort of people who wish to take advantage of America&#8217;s tolerance and our free systems in order to try to rip those things down.
Piker is the guy who literally wore the uniform of Chairman Mao, one of the great mass murderers in all of history.
He lectured Americans about “Islamophobia”: “Like everyone being like ‘Abdul has a ton of work to do mending bridges.’ Here&#8217;s the f*cking take for you: You are all unbelievably Islamophobic pieces of sh*t. You literally called the dude a terrorist for months on end and like, called him a sexist, misogynist, terrorist, bad candidate, fake doctor when he has, like two f*cking degrees and now you&#8217;re going to sit there and be like, ‘Well, you know, you&#8217;ve really got to come to me now.’ Like, what are you talking about? Do you want to f*cking win or not? Lock the f*ck in.”
If you take this garbage seriously or take this person seriously, you&#8217;re a moron.
Hearing him fume about people saying that El-Sayed is pro-terrorism when he’s the guy who is pro-terrorism and campaigning next to him is really remarkable.
But the biggest issue here is not Piker. It&#8217;s not even El-Sayed.
It is the Democratic Party that is willing to do literally anything to maintain its presence on the national stage, including fellow-traveling with people like El-Sayed.
Their “big tent” is now Islamized.

Moderate Democrats are bracing for &#8220;the next war&#8221; inside the party.
Jonathan Cowan, president of the group Third Way, said his organization is launching a $15 million effort running through 2028 to discredit democratic socialism, The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/08/06/us/politics/democratic-party-socialists-moderates.html">reported</a> on Thursday. 
“We are preparing for the next war that is coming,” Cowan said. 
The money will fund opposition research on the Democratic Socialists of America, polling, social media programs, and work to educate Democratic activists and leaders. 
The push gained urgency after Abdul El-Sayed’s narrow win in Michigan’s Democratic Senate primary on Tuesday. Polls before the election had pointed to a blowout. Instead, the leftist barely edged out the establishment&#8217;s pick, Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI), in a swing state that will also host an early presidential primary in 2028. 
Democrats had hoped to keep such wins limited to more liberal areas. El-Sayed’s nomination raised concerns that a progressive could take the party’s presidential nomination and then lose the general election.
“It is deeply troubling to see radical, far-Left candidates winning in places that are potentially presidential swing states,” Cowan told the Times.
Party leaders including Michigan Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and former Vice President Kamala Harris quickly backed El-Sayed after his primary victory.
Cowan criticized candidates who court Democratic Socialists of America organizers and energy while staying distant enough to avoid the formal label, a move he called the “DSA dodge.”
The next test for the Democratic Party comes next week. In Wisconsin, democratic socialist state Assemblywoman Francesca Hong has emerged as the party&#8217;s frontrunner for governor in another battleground state. The primary is August 11.
Moderate Democrats say the goal of their anti-socialist effort is to pinpoint radical parts of the official DSA platform, including defunding the Department of War, abolishing the police and prison system, reparations, and a 32-hour workweek. 
Liam Kerr, co-founder of the Welcome PAC, argued the far-Left has, so far, gained outsider energy and attention without the full weight of those positions.
Not every leftist won this week. Former Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) lost badly in her bid to reclaim her seat. But socialist wins have stacked up, including in primaries in New York, Colorado, and now, Michigan. In Detroit, State Rep. El-Sayed campaigned with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and made opposition to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) central to his race. 
Maurice Mitchell of the leftist Working Families Party, who campaigned in Michigan, rejected moderate Democrats&#8217; response to the rise of socialist candidates. 
“They’re missing the plot,” he said of the moderate Democrats, adding, “There is a populist insurgency taking place in this country.”

How Some Dems Are ‘Preparing For The Next War’ Against Socialists

Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) declined to endorse leftist Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong, who has made headlines in recent days over her past calls to cancel Thanksgiving and abolish the police. 
Sanders was asked Wednesday on the &#8220;Pod Save America&#8221; podcast whether he planned to endorse Hong, the Democratic frontrunner in Wisconsin&#8217;s governor race. The leftist senator, who has endorsed other far-Left candidates this cycle like Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan, said he did not know much about the race and did not plan to get involved at this point. 
“I don&#8217;t think so. I met Francesca a couple of years ago [when] I was in Wisconsin. And she was very, very nice. But, again, this is a race I just am not that familiar with,” Sanders said. “We have not gotten involved in many governors races, and we did one in Maine with Troy Jackson. You know, obviously, my major concern right now is seeing that we have a Senate and a House that is going to stand up to Trump. That&#8217;s really where my focus is. So, as of now, we have not been involved in that race.”
Hong, who polling shows has a commanding lead in the Democratic primary, has faced scrutiny in recent days over her extreme rhetoric. In one post from November 2020, she <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/socialist-governor-hopeful-has-kamala-moment-when-asked-about-canceling-thanksgiving">said</a> Thanksgiving should be canceled. 
“Cancel Thanksgiving. Should have done this in 1621,&#8221; she said. &#8220;If it takes a worldwide pandemic for us to realize we should stop celebrating colonialism and the original superspreader event that killed indigenous folx and women, so be it.&#8221;
In other posts on social media, Hong said the police should be defunded and then abolished. 
“Police exist to uphold white supremacy. Defund then abolish. Reform can&#8217;t be an option,” she <a href="https://x.com/FrancescaHongWI/status/1446599006872801282">said</a> in October 2021. 
Hong also took aim at white people in one post, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dem-says-culvers-trip-gave-her-anxiety-attack-over-white-people">complaining</a> about how many “old white people” were dining at Culver’s, a popular Wisconsin fast food chain.
“I ate two bites of my kid’s cheeseburger at a Culver’s in black river falls [sic] and told him they ran out of ice cream. Mostly just wanted to leave bc I was on the verge of a anxiety attack…to [sic] many old white people who didn’t think we spoke english,” Hong posted on X. 
While Hong has distanced herself from some of her old posts, she has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/swing-state-governor-candidate-doubles-down-on-radicalism-in-event-with-hasan-piker">doubled down</a> on her leftist priorities. On Sunday, she campaigned alongside Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and streamer Hasan Piker, who infamously said America “deserved” 9/11 and called for Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) to be killed. She is backed by Democratic Socialists of America chapters in Madison and Milwaukee. 
Establishment Democrats in the state have lined up behind Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, who more than doubled Hong&#8217;s <a href="https://www.wpr.org/news/crowley-outraises-hong-july-2026-democratic-primary-governor">fundraising</a> in July. Despite the backing of Governor Tony Evers and his monetary advantage, Crowley still trails Hong in the polls. Republicans are set to nominate Rep. Tom Tiffany, who has raised more funds than any Democratic candidate. 
The Wisconsin primary is on August 11.

A leftist activist who co-founded an anti-ICE climate advocacy group won the Democratic nomination in a key Michigan House race on Tuesday. 
William Lawrence defeated two Democrat rivals and will take on Republican Rep. Tom Barrett in the race for Michigan’s 7th Congressional District in November. Lawrence co-founded the Sunrise Movement, an organization that describes itself as “young people fighting fascism to win a Green New Deal.” 
Lawrence earned about 43% of the vote to former ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink’s 28% and ex-Navy SEAL Matt Maasdam’s 27%. 
“I’m an organizer, and on this campaign I’ve listened to the issues that bring people together. Being against these stupid wars, refusing to bow to the data center lobby’s bullying, and ending corruption in our politics,” Lawrence wrote on <a href="https://x.com/WeWill2026/status/2084850505352720648">social media</a> after his win. “It turns out, when you refuse to take lobbying money, you can actually fight for working people’s issues — across the political spectrum. That’s how we win.”
Lawrence received endorsements from leftist lawmakers like Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), and Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA). 
His <a href="https://wewill2026.com/#platform">platform</a> includes taxing the wealthy, “healthcare for all,” passing a federal moratorium on data centers, ending the war in Iran, and banning stock trading for members of Congress. 
The group he co-founded, the Sunrise Movement, <a href="https://www.sunrisemovement.org/campaign/ice-out/">describes</a> ICE as an “occupying army” and said the celebratory reactions after the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson were not “shocking.” 
“Young people have grown up watching CEOs commit mass murder, with politicians telling us to shut up and take it,” the Sunrise Movement <a href="https://www.sunrisemovement.org/movement-updates/luigi-mangione-united-healthcare-and-how-we-got-here/">said</a>. “Our whole lives, [the Democratic establishment] have refused to take on CEOs and their murderous business practices.” 
Some elected Democrats previously expressed skepticism that Lawrence could win in the general election. 
“We have a great chance to win the seat if we get the candidate that can win the seat. Will Lawrence is not that candidate,&#8221; Rep. Brad Schneider (D-IL) <a href="https://www.axios.com/2026/07/28/michigan-primary-slotkin-lawrence-brink-maasdam">told</a> Axios. 
Rep. Hillary Scholten told the outlet that Lawrence’s history of inflammatory rhetoric &#8220;speak to a broader lack of judgment, temperament, and leadership that would leave him ill-equipped to lead in Congress. In short, he can&#8217;t win.&#8221;
National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Mike Marinella said Lawrence would be too radical for Michigan voters. 
“The Democrats’ path to the House majority is evaporating in real time,” he said in a statement. “Every embarrassing defeat leaves them with a radical socialist nominee, an emptier bank account, and another must-win seat off the board.”

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) hedged during a Sunday morning interview, brushing off questions about whether or not Maine Democratic Senate nominee Troy Jackson had been throughly vetted in the wake of former nominee Graham Platner&#8217;s public implosion.
Appearing on NBC&#8217;s &#8220;Meet the Press,&#8221; Sanders praised Jackson&#8217;s working-class background and progressive platform but emphasized that he had no role in the process that elevated the former Maine Senate president to the nomination after Platner withdrew. &#8220;I was not involved in that process at all,&#8221; Sanders said. &#8220;As you indicated, they had to move very, very quickly, and I think the Maine Democratic Party did the best they could under difficult circumstances.&#8221;

Sanders went on to describe Jackson as &#8220;a fifth-generation logger&#8221; and a champion for working families, highlighting his support for Medicare for All and protecting Social Security.
But when asked whether he would endorse Jackson, Sanders stopped short of offering an unsolicited endorsement. &#8220;If he asks me to, I certainly will,&#8221; Sanders replied. The measured response stands in contrast to Sanders&#8217; vigorous support for Platner, the progressive outsider whose campaign became one of the Democratic Party&#8217;s highest-profile Senate efforts before collapsing under the weight of several scandals
Before rape allegations ultimately forced Platner off the campaign trail, Sanders had repeatedly defended the then-candidate despite mounting controversies surrounding his campaign. When asked Sunday whether he regretted endorsing Platner, Sanders declined to directly answer.
&#8220;There were very serious allegations against Platner,&#8221; Sanders said. &#8220;As a result of those accusations, I and virtually all of his supporters requested that he withdraw from the race, and he did.&#8221;
Pressed again on whether he regretted backing Platner in the first place, Sanders instead argued that hindsight made the question easier to answer. &#8220;Well, you know, it&#8217;s easier to be a Monday morning quarterback,&#8221; Sanders <a href="https://x.com/RNCResearch/status/2083926150837879124">said</a>. &#8220;Platner ran a very strong campaign &#8230; A woman made very serious allegations against him. He withdrew from the race. Period.&#8221;
When NBC moderator Kristen Welker asked once more if he had any regrets, Sanders did not answer but instead pivoted to broader Democratic politics, arguing that voters are rejecting establishment candidates and increasingly embracing left-wing alternatives. &#8220;The people of this country right now are sick and tired of establishment politics and establishment policies,&#8221; Sanders said. &#8220;They want change, and I and other progressives are going to do everything that we can to bring about those changes.&#8221;
Platner&#8217;s campaign collapsed after a series of controversies culminated in rape allegations, which he denied before withdrawing from the race. His downfall also prompted scrutiny of the progressive consultants who recruited and promoted his candidacy.
According to <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2026/07/17/platner-is-finished-does-the-same-fate-await-the-out-of-state-consultants-who-recruited-him-01002652">Politico</a>, campaign advisers allegedly declined recommendations for additional opposition research after an initial vetting uncovered problematic online posts and suggested further review. The report detailed broader concerns that warning signs surrounding Platner were overlooked as consultants raced to elevate the political newcomer into one of the Democratic Party&#8217;s most closely watched Senate candidates.
Jackson was selected as the replacement nominee after Platner exited the race, giving Democrats only days to choose a new standard-bearer in one of the nation&#8217;s premier Senate contests. He has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/graham-platners-replacement-accused-of-having-kids-with-cousin">since faced scrutiny</a> of his own after a report surfaced that he has two children with his longtime partner, Lana Pelletier, who genealogical records indicate is his second cousin. The relationship is legal under Maine law, and Jackson&#8217;s campaign has not publicly commented on the reporting.
Jackson will now face incumbent Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) in November as Democrats seek to flip a seat viewed as critical to their hopes of reclaiming the Senate majority.

CBS anchor Margaret Brennan pressed Sanders over his support for Platner, whose failed candidacy upended the Democratic establishment and sent the party scrambling to find a new nominee just months before the November election.
“You were an early supporter in Maine of Graham Platner. You helped him rise. Do you regret not acting earlier to call for him to drop out, given the warning signs?” Brennan asked.

Over the weekend, Maine Democrats <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/democrat-party-bosses-crown-new-nominee-to-replace-graham-platner?author=Virginia+Kruta&amp;category=undefined&amp;elementPosition=0&amp;row=3&amp;rowHeadline=Latest+News&amp;rowType=Vertical+Carousel&amp;title=Democrat+Party+Bosses+Crown+New+Nominee+To+Replace+Graham+Platner">hand-selected a new nominee</a> to replace the disgraced oyster farmer: Troy Jackson.
The party announced the decision on Saturday, saying that Jackson had been “formally” selected by the Maine Democratic State Committee — meaning that not a single Maine Democrat had cast a vote for him to be their nominee in that race.
Maine Democrats’ Executive Director Devon Murphy-Anderson praised the move, claiming that it was just one more example of “democracy” working exactly as it should.
“Democracy, while sometimes really messy, is always, always worth fighting for … doing what is right is what us Maine Democrats will choose every damn time,” she said.
Kristen Cianci, the Republican Party&#8217;s New England communications director, blasted the move on X, drawing comparisons to Kamala Harris&#8217; coronation as the Democrats&#8217; 2024 presidential nominee.
“History is repeating itself in Maine. Troy Jackson will be crowned by @MaineDems this weekend without a single vote being cast. Just like Kamala, voters will reject him when they finally get their say in November,” she said.
