The Department of War has selected Google’s Gemini to serve as the department’s first enterprise AI deployed across its internal platform.
Google and the Department of War confirmed that Gemini will be used for streamlining “complex administrative tasks” designated as “unclassified work,” according to a <a href="https://www.googlecloudpresscorner.com/2025-12-09-Chief-Digital-and-Artificial-Intelligence-Office-Selects-Google-Clouds-AI-to-Power-GenAI-mil">press release</a>. Google cited “summarizing policy handbooks, generating project-specific compliance checklists, extracting key terms from statements of work, and creating detailed risk assessments for operational planning” as examples.
“Gemini for government is the embodiment of American AI excellence, placing unmatched analytical and creative power directly into the hands of the world’s most dominating fighting force,” the Department of War said in a <a href="https://www.war.gov/News/Releases/Release/Article/4354916/the-war-department-unleashes-ai-on-new-genaimil-platform/">statement</a>.
As for safeguarding data, Google stated that Gemini for Government will give the Department of War full control over its information, ensuring that no information is shared with Google’s public models.
The Department of War calls Gemini for Government the “first of several frontier AI capabilities” for its new AI platform, GenAI.mil, though other third-party models have yet to be revealed.
The Department of War’s Gemini selection comes days after OpenAI CEO Sam Altman called for immediate action to improve the quality of its large language model, ChatGPT. Altman has ordered a halt to side projects such as OpenAI’s Sora video generator to increase focus on the day-to-day operations of its chatbot.
The Wall Street Journal <a href="https://www.wsj.com/tech/ai/openais-altman-declares-code-red-to-improve-chatgpt-as-google-threatens-ai-lead-7faf5ea6?mod=article_inline">reported</a> that Altman’s internal memo is “the most decisive indication yet of the pressure OpenAI is facing from competitors that have narrowed the startup’s lead in the AI race. Of particular concern to Altman is Google, which released a new version of its Gemini AI model last month that surpassed OpenAI’s models on industry benchmark tests.”
The Department of War emphasized that deploying Gemini is a part of the <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Americas-AI-Action-Plan.pdf">White House’s AI Action Plan</a> announced in July, which mandates that all federal agencies ensure that their employees benefit from access to frontier language models and are provided with access and appropriate training for the tools. The Department of War is providing training for GenAI.mil to all employees to “build confidence in using AI and give personnel the education needed to realize its full potential.”
Just nine days after the White House released its action plan, Google was <a href="https://cloud.google.com/blog/topics/public-sector/google-public-sector-awarded-200-million-contract-to-accelerate-ai-and-cloud-capabilities-across-department-of-defenses-chief-digital-and-artificial-intelligence-office-cdao">awarded</a> a $200-million ceiling contract to support the U.S. Department of War’s Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO). The Department of War did not immediately respond to a request for comment when asked if the rollout of Gemini in GenAI.mil is part of the July contract.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said the Department is going all-in on AI. “We are pushing all of our chips in on artificial intelligence as a fighting force. The Department is tapping into America’s commercial genius, and we’re embedding generative AI into our daily battle rhythm.”
He added, “AI tools present boundless opportunities to increase efficiency, and we are thrilled to witness AI&#8217;s future positive impact across the War Department.”

Artificial intelligence has been taking the world by storm, beginning a whole new technological revolution that has already influenced tens of millions of Americans and encouraged hundreds of billions in <a href="https://hai.stanford.edu/ai-index/2025-ai-index-report/economy">corporate investments</a>.
A recent Elon University <a href="https://www.elon.edu/u/news/2025/03/12/survey-52-of-u-s-adults-now-use-ai-large-language-models-like-chatgpt/">poll</a> found that over 50% of Americans now use large language models like ChatGPT and Google Gemini, some of the most popular artificial intelligence resources in use.
As a student, I can validate these findings.
When ChatGPT was released almost three years ago, many of my classmates and I quickly adopted artificial intelligence as part of our daily routine, using it for tasks like summarizing texts and exploring topics that would normally require far more time and effort. My phone now includes a quick access button linked directly to Perplexity AI’s voice mode, allowing me to directly open the app and verbally ask questions or verify comments.
An <a href="https://cdn.openai.com/global-affairs/openai-edu-ai-ready-workforce.pdf">OpenAI report</a> confirms this trend, finding that three in four college-aged users desire to use AI in their education and career.
Personally, my work and education has greatly benefited from this technology, as I am able to selectively choose the AI most applicable to my research and generate clear, yet expansive information on any subject that interests me, all without cheating or stealing information.
But, as everyone who pays even the slightest bit of attention to the news knows, there are plenty of valid concerns associated with artificial intelligence and its uses.
<a href="https://datascience.hawaii.edu/profile/peter-sadowski/">Dr. Peter Sadowski,</a> an Associate Professor at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa, has been examining this issue. His work focuses on machine learning and artificial intelligence, specifically how to use these methods to address the most challenging problems in science and engineering.
As a teacher, Dr. Sadowski has noticed a massive shift in the way AI has transformed education as we know it.
“With these language models, it is just so easy for students to take an assignment and run in through ChatGPT and get results,” he told The Daily Wire. “It can write an essay, it can solve a programming assignment, it can solve math assignments. That is just a huge shift.”
In response to this new challenge, Sadowski made some changes to his teaching model.
“The first week ChatGPT went live, I immediately abandoned take-home tests, since ChatGPT could just do all the questions … Most schools have some evolving AI guidances and policies, but the best way to learn is to experiment to become familiar with the capabilities of these technologies.”
Many schools have introduced AI policies to inform both students and faculty on how to use the new technology responsibly. For instance, my own school, the Franciscan University of Steubenville, introduced <a href="https://franciscan.smartcatalogiq.com/en/2024-2025/undergraduate-catalog-2024-2025/academic-and-university-policies/academic-integrity/use-of-artificial-intelligence">guidance</a> on using artificial intelligence, including <a href="https://magazine.franciscan.edu/articles/navigating-ai/">discussions</a> on its use in the <a href="https://magazine.franciscan.edu/articles/artificial-intelligence-in-the-classroom/">classroom</a>.
“The teaching profession has to adapt to these new technologies,” Sadowski said. “We need fair ways to evaluate student learning — more in-class exams, more careful assignments that test student learning beyond what they can do with AI.”
While many students like me largely support a responsible integration of AI into academia, sentiments remain divided among the American public, with 42% believing that it will make life worse, according to an <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/nbc-news-polls/poll-americans-form-views-ai-divided-role-school-everyday-life-rcna212782">NBC News poll</a>.
Some have a far darker view of the technology, with a new <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/news/article/poll-most-americans-think-ai-will-destroy-humanity-someday-212132958.html">Yahoo/YouGov poll</a> finding that 53% of the 1,770 individuals polled believe that AI is likely to someday “destroy humanity.”
“It&#8217;s become so easy and free for students to do this that it&#8217;s just shaken up education,” Sadowski said. &#8220;In computer science, the process of building something yourself helps you learn to think clearly and break down problems. If you let AI do all your homework, you will miss out on important learning opportunities, and when the AI fails, students get stuck. I see that happening in the classroom.”
Despite the possibility of cheating and outsourcing labor through AI systems, I’m optimistic — and so is Sadowski.
“In my own field, it takes students a long time to learn these technical skills to make progress on the research side,&#8221; he said. “I’m excited about the ability of AI to help student scientists accelerate research. That’s the hope.”

Two weeks ago, Bloomberg anchor Lisa Abramowicz, discussing the sale of Nvidia H200s to China with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/will-president-trump-sell-advanced-ai-chips-to-china">asked</a>, “Is it more of a national security risk to give China some of these high-powered chips, or is it more of a national security risk to not have United States tech in China?”
Lutnick replied, saying that very question was sitting on the president’s desk. On Monday, President Trump delivered his answer.
“I have informed President Xi, of China, that the United States will allow Nvidia to ship its H200 products to approved customers in China, and other Countries, under conditions that allow for continued strong National Security,” the president announced. “President Xi responded positively! 25% will be paid to the United States of America.”
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for clarification on whether that 25% will be paid by foreign governments, strictly Chinese buyers, or the AI companies themselves. In August, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/morning-brief-trumps-d-c-takeover-a-china-chip-deal-border-wall-2-0">reports</a> surfaced of a separate arrangement in which Nvidia and AMD would share 15% of their profits with the United States government.
President Trump emphasized that Nvidia’s most advanced chips, Blackwell and Rubin, would not be included in H200 export authorization.
The decision drew an immediate rebuke from Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA). “After his backroom meeting with Donald Trump and his company’s donation to the Trump ballroom, CEO Jensen Huang got his wish to sell the most powerful AI chip we’ve ever sold to China.”
Warren called for Huang to “testify publicly and under oath” in front of Congress.

Trump defended the move, insisting it would not compromise national security. “We will protect national security, create American jobs, and keep America’s lead in AI,” he stated.
Earlier this month, Samuel Hammond, the chief economist at the Foundation for American Innovation, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/will-president-trump-sell-advanced-ai-chips-to-china">told</a> The Daily Wire, “Permitting H200 exports to China would be a world-historic mistake. America’s current lead in AI would be radically diminished with very little to show for it.”
AI Czar David Sacks, speaking at the Salesforce Dreamforce conference, described the export policy as a complicated endeavor.
“What we ship to China is complicated,” he said, noting that current policy permits less advanced chips to be sold abroad, but that the fight in Washington is where that line is drawn. “Some people want to draw that line very, very restrictively.”
Sacks has not yet commented on the H200 decision — but earlier on Monday, he weighed in on the president’s forthcoming “One Rule” executive order. “There must be only one rulebook if we are going to continue to lead in AI,” Trump said, warning that “we are beating all countries at this point in the [AI] race, but that won’t last for long if we are going to have 50 States involved in the rules and approval process.”
Addressing concerns on the AI preemption, Sacks stated that with 50 different AI models for 50 different states, America will end up with a &#8220;regulatory morass worse than Europe.&#8221; The AI czar <a href="https://x.com/DavidSacks/status/1998125180753944985">added</a>, &#8220;If we want America to win the AI race, a confusing patchwork of regulation will not work.&#8221;
Further details on the &#8220;One Rule&#8221; executive order, as well as clarification on the H200 sale to China, are expected later this week.

Americans and Europeans are overwhelmingly concerned about China’s vision for a new global order and support investment to stay ahead of Beijing in technology, according to polling exclusively reviewed by The Daily Wire.
The American Edge Project in partnership with Mercury Analytics, surveyed thousands of people across the United States and Europe concerning their views on China, artificial intelligence, and other issues. The poll, reviewed by The Daily Wire, was conducted from October 7-25.
Pollsters asked 4,000 adults spread equally among the U.S., U.K., France, and Germany, and another 500 in Belgium. The margin of error is 3.1% for each country’s sample. The margin of error on sub-samples is greater.
The poll on Westerners&#8217; thoughts on China, its orientation toward the West, and the battle to innovate and develop technology comes as the Trump administration has prioritized winning the race for artificial intelligence. The Trump administration has pushed Europe, as well, to embrace technological growth and avoid burdensome regulations that could unduly hamper AI development.

At an AI summit in France in February, Vice President JD Vance touted the Trump administration’s ambition to make the United States the world leader in AI, but “just because we&#8217;re the leader doesn&#8217;t mean we want to or need to go it alone,” Vance <a href="https://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/documents/remarks-the-vice-president-the-artificial-intelligence-action-summit-paris-france">said</a> in an invitation to Europe.
Americans and Europeans are overwhelmingly concerned about the threat China poses to the United States and Europe. The poll results demonstrate repeated concerns on both sides of the Atlantic that respondents are “deeply worried about China’s plans to create a new global order and its technological threat to Western nations,” according to a polling memo reviewed by The Daily Wire.
According to the poll, 79% of Americans believe that China threatens their economic well-being, and 80% say they are concerned about a national security threat. Europeans responded in similar numbers with 78% saying China threatens their economic well-being and 70% concerned about threats to their national security.
Even more Americans, 87%, responded that they are concerned about China building alliances with non-Western countries to build a bloc that could challenge the West. For Europeans, the number who agreed with the American majority ranged from 80% in Belgium to 89% in France.
And 91% of Americans said they are concerned that China is conducting cyberattacks on critical infrastructure. Almost the same percentage of Europeans, 90%, said the same.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, widely recognized as a leading figure in AI, gives credit not to himself, but to President Trump for saving the AI industry.
“The fact that he came into office and the first thing that he said was: drill, baby, drill. His point is we need energy growth. … Without energy growth, we can have no industrial growth. And that was it, saved it, saved the AI industry,” Huang told podcaster Joe Rogan. “I gotta tell you flat out, if not for his pro-growth energy policy, we would not be able to build factories for AI.”
On the first night of his presidency, Trump wasted no time addressing American energy. He <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/declaring-a-national-energy-emergency/">declared</a> a “National Energy emergency,” stating, “An affordable and reliable domestic supply of energy is a fundamental requirement for the national and economic security of any nation.”
While Huang told Rogan that long-term, “the amount of energy necessary for artificial intelligence for most people will be minuscule, utterly minuscule,” he made it clear that today, energy “is the bottleneck” for AI growth.
His warning is backed by Wall Street. Goldman Sachs <a href="https://www.goldmansachs.com/insights/articles/AI-poised-to-drive-160-increase-in-power-demand">estimates</a> that power demand from data centers could rise by 160% by the end of the decade due to AI.
Trump has spoken openly about the scale of that challenge. In a speech discussing the future of AI, the president recalled learning how much electricity AI plants would require. “You got to be kidding. Double what we produce right now for everything.”

Preparing the nation for a surge in energy demand, Trump passed an executive order, titled “<a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/unleashing-american-energy/">Unleashing American Energy</a>.” The order calls for expanded energy exploration and production on federal lands and waters and instructs federal agencies to review existing regulations, orders, and policies. Federal agencies are directed to revise or rescind actions that “impose an undue burden on the identification, development, or use of domestic energy with particular attention to oil, natural gas coal, hydropower, biofuels, critical mineral, and nuclear energy resources.&#8221; The order also paused Biden-era funding and subsidies for many “green” initiatives.
Five days before President Biden left office, his administration issued the AI Diffusion Rule, creating new compliance and export requirements for advanced AI technology. Nvidia quickly condemned the rule and later supported the Trump administration’s decision to rescind it. “This last-minute Biden administration policy would be a legacy that will be criticized by U.S. industry and the global community,” stated Nvidia&#8217;s vice president of government affairs in a statement <a href="https://seekingalpha.com/news/4393980-nvidia-criticizes-biden-administrations-plan-for-ai-chip-export-curbs">shared</a> with Seeking Alpha. “We would encourage President Biden to not preempt incoming President Trump by enacting a policy that will only harm the U.S. economy, set America back. And play into the hands of U.S. adversaries.”
Exactly two months after Biden’s AI Diffusion Rule had been in place, and three months before it would have taken effect, the Trump administration rescinded the rule.
The rule, issued on January 15, 2025, was scheduled to take effect on May 15. The Bureau of Industry and Security, which has authority over the rule, later rescinded it, stating that the requirements would have stifled American innovation by burdening U.S. companies with heavy regulatory costs.
Complimentary of the administration’s policies, Huang also noted he was surprised by President Trump.
“The one-on-one President Trump is very different,” the CEO explained. “He surprised me. First of all, he’s an incredibly good listener. Almost everything I’ve ever said to him he’s remembered.”

Director James Cameron says he’s firmly against using AI-generated actors, calling the results “horrifying.”
In a recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning, the filmmaker addressed speculation that he might turn to AI for future installments of the popular &#8220;Avatar&#8221; franchise and made clear he has no interest in doing so.
“For years, there was this sense that, ‘Oh, they’re doing something strange with computers and they’re replacing actors,’ when in fact, once you really drill down and you see what we’re doing, it’s a celebration of the actor-director moment,” Cameron said.

When asked why he’s against <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hollywood-actors-union-slams-ai-synthetic-performer-pitched-as-the-next-scarlett-johansson">AI-generated actors like Tilly Norwood</a>, the “Titanic” director replied, “I don’t want a computer doing what I pride myself on being able to do with actors. I don’t want to replace actors, I love working with actors.”
Cameron said he was excited about how emerging technology could help the fledgling genres of sci-fi and fantasy films, which are costly to make, without entirely replacing live actors.
He also mentioned some of the pitfalls of AI. 
“What generative AI can’t do is create something new that’s never been seen. If you think about it, the models… it’s a magic trick, what they can do is quite astonishing. But the models are trained on everything that’s ever been done before that; it can’t be trained on that which has never been done,” Cameron said. 
“So you will innately see, essentially, all of human art and human experience put into a blender, and you’ll get something that is kind of an average of that. So what you can’t have is that individual screenwriter’s unique lived experience and their quirks. You won’t find the idiosyncrasies of a particular actor.”
The director predicted that live performances will become more “sacred” in the future.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday launching a “national effort” to integrate artificial intelligence into research and accelerate innovation and scientific discovery.
The Trump administration has made AI research and innovation a top priority as it seeks to win the AI “race” against China. The White House said the new national effort, named the Genesis Mission, will be one of the largest research and development projects in the history of the United States.
Energy Secretary Chris Wright <a href="https://x.com/ENERGY/status/1993102758812303725">compared</a> the effort that the Trump administration is coordinating for AI advancement to the Manhattan Project that developed the nuclear bomb and the Apollo Program that landed the first humans on the moon.
“In this pivotal moment, the challenges we face require a historic national effort, comparable in urgency and ambition to the Manhattan Project that was instrumental to our victory in World War II and was a critical basis for the foundation of the Department of Energy (DOE) and its national laboratories,” the <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/11/launching-the-genesis-mission/">order</a> states.
The aim of the Genesis Mission is to build an AI model that will learn from and incorporate federal datasets “to train scientific foundation models and create AI agents to test new hypotheses, automate research workflows, and accelerate scientific breakthroughs.”

The project will partner researchers at each of the United States’ 17 national laboratories with businesses and academic research centers to work on AI development and models.
“The Genesis Mission will dramatically accelerate scientific discovery, strengthen national security, secure energy dominance, enhance workforce productivity, and multiply the return on taxpayer investment into research and development, thereby furthering America’s technological dominance and global strategic leadership,” the order states.
The project will largely be run through the Department of Energy and its network of national laboratories that conduct some of the most sensitive research in the United States.

On Monday, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said that President Donald Trump faces a high-stakes decision: Where to draw the line on exporting American AI technology to China. 
“Is it more of a national security risk to give China some of these high-powered chips, or is it more of a national security risk to not have US tech in China?” Bloomberg anchor Lisa Abramowicz asked the commerce secretary in an <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4RfWh-1oNk">interview</a> on Monday.
“Well, that is the question &#8230; in front of the president,” Lutnick replied.  
As the commerce secretary, Lutnick oversees America’s export-control system. These rules regulate which sensitive technologies can be sold abroad. Nvidia’s AI chips have become a contentious part of that system. Lutnick explained that the President “decides whether to sell those chips or not, and then we will execute it however he decides to go forward.” 
Abramowicz pressed Lutnick specifically on whether the administration will allow Nvidia to sell its H200 AI chips to China. The H200 is not as advanced as the new Blackwell chips, which President Trump said <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/siladityaray/2025/11/03/trump-says-hell-allow-china-nvidia-deals-except-for-most-advanced-blackwell-chips/">will not be allowed for export</a>, but is more advanced than the H20 chips, which were <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2025/08/11/trump-nvidia-amd-china-chip-revenue-deal-implications.html?utm_source=chatgpt.com">approved for export earlier this year</a>. 
Some experts warn that allowing sales of H200 AI chips would go too far. 
Samuel Hammond, chief economist at the Foundation for American Innovation, told The Daily Wire,  “Permitting H200 exports to China would be a world-historic mistake. America’s current lead in AI would be radically diminished with very little show for it.” 
Hammond said the United States has an advantage, but it&#8217;s far from secure. “Our lead is incredibly fragile. China is massively outbuilding us on energy, leaving us vulnerable to being leapfrogged but for export controls,” he said. If export controls were lifted entirely, he warned, America’s <a href="https://ifp.org/the-b30a-decision/">computing advantage</a> would “quickly drop from nearly 30x to just 4x.”
President Trump’s AI Czar, David Sacks, emphasized this at the Salesforce Dreamforce <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzv3GixZL6g">conference</a> last month, stressing that the decision is far from straightforward. 
“What we ship to China is complicated,” Sacks said.
Under the current policy, only less advanced chips are exported. But Sacks noted that the fight in Washington is over where that line should be drawn. He said, “Some people want to draw that line very, very restrictively.&#8221; 
He argued that Washington’s mindset contrasts sharply with Silicon Valley’s, the place where Sacks built his career. 
“What Washington wants is control &#8230; The bureaucracies want to control these decisions. They want you to apply for a license and get their permission to do business,&#8221; he said. &#8220;If we let the bureaucracy win, we are going to kill American competitiveness all over the world.” 
Silicon Valley takes a different view. “Everyone in Silicon Valley understands that the way that you win a technology race is to have the biggest ecosystem &#8230; the most developers &#8230; the most apps in your app store,” he said. “You just want everybody to be building on top of your technology stack. And that&#8217;s what we want for the United States.” 
Sacks believes Trump’s approach to China should be nuanced. 
“I don’t think you want to sell China our latest and greatest chips because it would be too much of an advantage for them. But if you deprive them entirely, there are two issues with that.” 
First, the economies of the United States and China are linked through trade, Sacks said. “We saw that recently with the rare earths, where they cut us off and imposed new requirements on that. So as long as we need some things from China, we are going to have to reciprocate in some way.” 
Second, U.S. companies competing against China can weaken Chinese AI competitors such as Huawei, he continued. 
“China wants Huawei to scale up and dominate the Chinese market and then use that to then dominate the world market,” Sacks said. “And what Huawei would want is for all American chips to be banned in China so they can dominate that huge market for themselves.”
“I wouldn’t give them the latest and greatest,&#8221; he said, “but if we can take share away from Huawei with a less current chip, then that’s something I think we should consider doing.” 
President Trump <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115605897178712132">wrote</a> on Truth Social Monday that he talked to China&#8217;s President Xi Jinping, but did not directly mention Nvidia&#8217;s H200 chips. &#8220;We discussed many topics including Ukraine/Russia, Fentanyl, Soybeans, and other Farm Products, etc.”

The fate of the Trump administration — and perhaps Republicans in Congress as well — is tied to American sentiment about the economy.
And right now, nobody knows what the hell is going on or which way is up.
According to <a href="https://www.wsj.com/livecoverage/jobs-report-bls-september-stock-market-today-11-20-2025?gaa_at=eafs&amp;gaa_n=AWEtsqcjgM64-wIPKktYARvEIXFsJzimXcvAC3fpAwUc7i4Gm1zHe0UCBW67Kh-iYj8%3D&amp;gaa_ts=6920c3b1&amp;gaa_sig=UP5t4kf3TCVh2knpn1gTpG9YTqEgZWWHF-Xp5Wk_rcJLrVoWejOhEl7QdCMjnOa0Gcq4dx_e4ZeKV-trUecuzw%3D%3D">The Wall Street Journal</a> on Thursday night:

Why did they end up down?
Because investors suspect there is, in fact, an AI bubble.
That suspicion is not unrealistic. Whenever there&#8217;s a transformative technology, people seem to think that just because there is a bubble, that means that the underlying technology is not transformative. If you look back at the history of investment, however, there is always a speculative bubble around brand-new technologies, and it tends to clean out failing companies.
You remember the successful companies. So you remember Henry Ford because Ford ended up being a wildly successful company. But there were dozens of other automobile companies that were startups at the time that ended up crapping out. In fact, Ford had several of them before he actually started the Ford Motor Company.
The same thing was true of the internet.
Everyone remembers that when the Internet bubble burst in 2000, Pets.com was seen as emblematic of the era. 
But what we should remember is that the internet has completely transformed everybody&#8217;s life. We all work on the internet. We all do commerce on the internet; we all interact on the internet.
The stock market bubble of 2000 did not mean the internet wasn&#8217;t important. There are idiots like Paul Krugman who tried to suggest that it wasn&#8217;t important. It was very important.
That&#8217;s also true with regard to AI. People are looking at the current AI boom, and they&#8217;re thinking that at some point here it has to crap out, that some of these companies are not going to be able to develop the kind of margins or gross income that justifies the investment they are currently making. OpenAI is the most obvious example of a company that is not publicly traded, but has so many contracts with publicly traded companies ranging from Oracle to Nvidia that if it craps out, it could take down a bunch of companies with it, or at least severely damage their market capitalization.
According to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/11/20/technology/ai-stock-boom-nvidia.html#:~:text=Cade%20Metz%20has%20covered%20the,for%20more%20than%2015%20years.&amp;text=It%20would%20not%20be%20a,industry%20as%20a%20historic%20moment.">The New York Times</a>:
<blockquote>It would not be a stretch to describe this period of hyperactive growth in the tech industry as a historic moment. Nvidia, which makes computer chips that are essential to building artificial intelligence, said on Wednesday that its quarterly profit had jumped <a href="https://archive.is/o/5DcUP/https:/www.nytimes.com/2025/11/19/technology/nvidia-earnings.html">to nearly $32 billion</a>, up 65 percent from a year earlier and 245 percent from the year before that. Just three weeks ago, Nvidia became the <a href="https://archive.is/o/5DcUP/https:/www.nytimes.com/2025/10/29/technology/nvidia-value-market-ai.html">first publicly traded company to be worth $5 trillion</a>. </blockquote>
That means Nvidia is now worth more, according to the stock market, than the entire economy of Germany. 
But some industry insiders say there is something ominous lurking behind all this bubble news. They look at the same eye-popping growth and the same stunning wealth creation from Mr. Huang and see a house of cards. And they say it is hard to know what the damage will be if it collapses.
Even Nvidia&#8217;s growth can be explained away because demand for the company&#8217;s chips doesn&#8217;t mean that people want to use AI; it means that companies are building giant AI systems in the hope that somebody will pay to use them eventually.
This is going to be the question: At some point, the productivity generation from AI is going to have to start matching up to the investments that are being made. People are betting on whether there&#8217;s going to be an AI boom that justifies all this or an AI bust. 
We don&#8217;t know which way it&#8217;s going, which is why people are freaking out.
They&#8217;re also freaking out because if it does succeed, there will be some temporary jobs dislocation. There are a lot of jobs that will become obsolete.
The history of job creation is that the economy becomes more productive. You get nicer things for cheaper prices. You work fewer hours; your grandparents worked many more hours than you do, for example.
But it also means that there is — with technological change —  significant job dislocation, people losing the kind of jobs they&#8217;ve historically held, and then having to find new jobs.
We&#8217;ve generated millions and millions of jobs in areas that we didn&#8217;t even know existed. This is just the way the economy tends to work.
That doesn&#8217;t mean that the angst and heartburn about job dislocation are false.
Thus, two things can be true at once: We can be in a transformative, amazing time for the economy, and the uncertainty and the concern can be real.
And it can&#8217;t all be alleviated by the government.

Topline: Congress on Tuesday overwhelmingly voted to release all Justice Department files tied to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein –  and with President Donald Trump’s support.
The Senate passed the bill by unanimous consent, a procedural method of approving legislation without a formal roll call, hours after the House passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act by a vote of 427-1. It was <a href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/4405/cosponsors">sponsored</a> by Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and a host of Democrats, and effectively calls for the release of all of the so-called Epstein files. It specifically calls for the Justice Department to release materials that relate to Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s escort and lover. The release will supposedly include details Americans have been waiting for a long time to learn.
Not so fast: There&#8217;s a good chance the Justice Department could retain some names, redact others, and restrict certain files it believes the public shouldn&#8217;t see.
This is standard practice for sensitive official releases. Democrats recently released files while redacting the name of the late Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein&#8217;s victims. In Giuffre’s case, her identity and story regarding Epstein are already well-known, yet Democrats chose to redact her name anyway. There are certainly many discussions about how these documents will be viewed and what details the public will or won&#8217;t have access to.
White House under pressure:  White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has appeared very restrained, very careful, telling the public that Democrats are pushing for the release of these files to weaponize them against Trump. The administration’s messaging has been that Trump hated Epstein, that Trump kicked Epstein out of Mar-a-Lago, and that Trump was no longer friends with Epstein because he was a creep. The White House says Democrats want to weaponize these files and that if there were anything against Trump in them, it would&#8217;ve been used under the Biden Justice Department.

The pivot for the White House has been that Trump is realizing his original MAGA base wants the files. The president has also realized that both House and Senate Republicans support releasing the files. 
Trump has already seen many different items released in the files, where people have tried to say this or that is incriminating to him. None of it has implicated the president in wrongdoing, however. Some items emerging might be distasteful or upsetting to some, but at the end of the day, none of it has implicated the president in anything like what Democrats would like to implicate him in.

Topline: Global stock markets tumbled this week amid growing fears over an artificial intelligence (AI) bubble and ongoing affordability concerns.
Throughout the summer and fall, millions of Americans were ecstatic to open up their investment portfolio each week as markets soared. The DOW, S&amp;P 500, and NASDAQ are up by more than 10% this year.
Those gains were primarily driven by excitement over AI, one of the most significant developments for Wall Street. As new applications and technologies emerge month after month, investors have gobbled up shares of anything remotely related to AI.
But in the past week, markets have begun to look a bit shaky—the DOW, SP500, and NASDAQ are each down by more than 3.5%, and tech stocks in particular have been hit the hardest.
Why? The biggest and most obvious concern is that a bubble has formed, and all the frenzied investors looking to get in on the AI action have pumped trillions of dollars into the industry, driving stock prices far beyond their worth.
Most AI companies are still in the research and development phase and are not making money. For example, MIT recently surveyed 300 AI companies and found that 95% had yet to turn a profit, despite taking in a combined $40 billion in outside investments.
Bets against AI: A number of well-known investors and venture capitalists are betting against AI stocks. Michael Burry, made famous in the movie &#8220;The Big Short&#8221; (2015), has reportedly made more than $1 billion in bets that Palantir and Nvidia’s stock prices will fall. Billionaire tech founder Peter Thiel and SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son each liquidated all of their Nvidia stocks, sparking even more concern.
The other side: Goldman Sachs released a report this week expressing confidence that the market is correctly valuing the benefits from AI and that valuations are not at “bubble levels.” Two of their lead analysts wrote that “simple arithmetic” shows that markets are running “well ahead of the macro impact.” In other words, the market is pricing in future profits that will come thanks to AI technology.
Kenny Polcari, chief market strategist at Slatestone Wealth, told Morning Wire that the situation is not as bad as some people seem to think.
“While I think that valuations are stretched, I am not in the camp that I think we&#8217;re in a bubble. A bubble suggests something very different,” said Polcari. “This was the fourth industrial revolution. Everyone had to be in it, so they talked it up, and now with this, it&#8217;s exhausted. … It&#8217;s going to probably feel uncomfortable, but I&#8217;m not in the camp that I think it&#8217;s a bubble.”
Polcari conceded that prices were bound to correct at some point, but in his view, that presents a long-term opportunity for average investors.

Topline: Colleges are increasingly admitting students who struggle with middle school-level academics.
Pop quiz: 7 + 2 = blank + 6.
The answer is three, of course. A simple enough math problem, but a quarter of students at the University of California, San Diego didn’t know the answer to that question.
The school put out a <a href="https://senate.ucsd.edu/media/740347/sawg-report-on-admissions-review-docs.pdf">report</a> this month on a “steep decline in the academic preparation of its entering first-year students.” It said “[b]etween 2020 and 2025, the number of freshmen whose math placement exam results indicate they do not meet middle school standards grew nearly thirtyfold.” Worse, it wasn’t because they hadn’t taken courses in high school–they did, and many of them actually got high grades. The high schools seem to be just passing students who have no idea what they’re doing, often with As and Bs.
Consequences: If students aren’t ready for college-level work, they may face academic difficulties that increase their chances of dropping out and taking on debt without a degree.
The dumbing down of college has also led to inflation. Now, people have to waste precious years getting a graduate degree just to prove they’re as smart as what used to be required for a bachelor’s.
Why? Some, but not all, of what’s gone wrong has been driven by racial politics. A Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/this-black-college-is-a-criminal-enterprise-ex-top-official-says-in-lawsuit">report</a> published Monday on an HBCU (Historically Black College and University) underscores the concerns.
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore admits 90% of applicants and has a 17% graduation rate. There have been four separate lawsuits filed against it in the last few months, alleging, among other things, that the school has almost no standards and condones cheating to keep its graduation rate from falling.
One lecturer, Ciu Fang, said that most students failed her advanced computer science class—a result she saw as the inevitable outcome of turning students who barely made it through high school into college undergraduates.

Meta promoted its artificial intelligence&#8217;s new “free AI creator tools” on Instagram with a piece of content that appears to show an AI-generated video of President Donald Trump kneeling before a demon.
A screenshot of the AI-generated video, showcased in an advertisement for the tool, showed what looked like Trump shaking hands with a Satan-like figure before kneeling before it, according to a video captured on the platform that was reviewed by The Daily Wire.
The promotion read: “Meta AI: Try free AI creation tools” and featured a “Get app” button. Meta AI launched “Vibes” in September, which the company describes as “a new feed in the Meta AI app and on <a href="http://meta.ai/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">meta.ai</a> where you can create and share short-form, AI-generated videos.”
A Meta spokesman told The Daily Wire that the video in question was &#8220;user-generated content&#8221; that &#8220;has been removed from this recommendation surface as it violated our protocols for promotions.&#8221;
It is unclear how user-generated videos are selected for the promotion, nor if there are any safeguards in place to ensure content that violates &#8220;protocols for promotions&#8221; is weeded out. The Meta spokesman told The Daily Wire that the company is &#8220;taking additional steps to prevent this from happening moving forward,&#8221; but would not specify how.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg met with Trump at the White House in<a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/articles/2025/09/president-trump-tech-leaders-unite-american-ai-dominance/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> September</a> to discuss “harnessing artificial intelligence to propel the U.S. to the forefront of global innovation.” During the meeting, Zuckerberg told reporters the company is investing at least $600 billion in the United States through 2028.
The Daily Wire uploaded a screenshot of the image to the Meta AI app to ask it who appears in the ad and what is happening in the image.
The response said the image depicts a “manipulated photo of Donald Trump kneeling and adjusting his tie while interacting with a large, black horned creature, likely a satanic or demonic figure.”
Although the image captured only a screenshot of the AI-generated video, the response added that the image is “likely a satirical or humorous representation, rather than a real event.”

“The ad is from Meta AI, promoting their free AI creation tools,” the response from Meta&#8217;s AI read.
The Daily Wire asked Meta to clarify which specific protocol the imagery may have violated; whether the material was user-generated content incorporated into the promotion; whether it was deliberately selected or randomly populated; and whether Meta has systems in place to prevent protocol-violating content from appearing in this manner. The company did not provide further details.
Meta and Trump have had a tumultuous relationship over the years. The company “indefinitely” suspended the president after the January 6 Capitol riots in 2021, but Facebook&#8217;s Oversight Board reinstated his accounts in 2023, Business Insider<a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/donald-trump-comments-about-facebook-mark-zuckerberg-feud-history-2024-7" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> reported</a>.
The president accused Zuckerberg of undermining him in the 2020 election, and ahead of the 2024 election, he wrote in a new book. “We are watching him closely, and if he does anything illegal this time he will spend the rest of his life in prison — as will others who cheat in the 2024 Presidential Election,” the New York Post<a href="https://nypost.com/2024/08/28/us-news/trump-warns-zuckerberg-could-spend-the-rest-of-his-life-in-prison/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> reported</a>.
Zuckerberg congratulated Trump on his win in 2024 and Meta donated $1 million to his inauguration fund. The pair have had at least two meetings since the election, including Zuckerberg&#8217;s participation at the White House dinner in September.
