The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released new footage from its interrogations of terrorists and residents from inside Gaza this week that backed up the IDF’s reports that hospitals throughout Gaza were used as command centers for Hamas and other Islamic terrorist organizations.
The activity was mentioned in interviews conducted by the IDF’s secretive Intelligence Unit 504, which confirmed this week its involvement in gathering intelligence from inside Gaza.
“So far, we have apprehended over 300 terrorists from the terrorist organizations during the ground operation who were brought into Israeli territory for further interrogations,” said a senior official in the 504 Unit: “The information that emerges from the interrogations of the terrorists is very valuable, leading to elimination of operatives and the preservation of the security of our forces.”
The IDF released a video of one of the terrorists it captured who said he was at the Shifa Hospital.
“I was in the Shifa Hospital. There were about 50,000 people who sought refuge. I was there, inside the hospital and I know the doctors there,” he said. “The doctors were furious because Hamas operatives and operatives of other terrorist organizations were inside the hospital.”
The terrorist estimated that he saw up to as many as 100 other terrorists inside the hospital. He said that the terrorists were located “in the heart of the Shifa Hospital.”
“They [Hamas operatives] dressed as nursing staff but they were not nurses or doctors,” he added. “Hamas operatives dressed as medical staff in order to blend in within the hospital wards, even in the ICU.”

Israel released another interrogation video of a Gazan resident, Hamuda Riad Asad Shamalah, who was an “internet application engineer at the [Hamas-run] Ministry of Health in Gaza.”
Shamalah said that he and his family stayed at the Palestinian Red Crescent complex for approximately three weeks with roughly 40,000 other refugees from the war.
He said that Hamas terrorists “stayed at the complex” and that they “continued to operate” as terrorists while there.
He said that terrorists hid rockets and other various small arms within mattresses.

Shamalah said that if he were to confront Hamas about what they were doing, they could kill him.
“The sheer number of people in the place served as a protection for them,” he said. “We became their human shields. It’s obvious that the IDF would not strike a place with 40,000 people in it.”
He said that Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists also used Shifa Hospital to hide.
“We went there to find shelter, and then they came and endangered me and my family at this place,” he added.
