The Israel Defense Forces has released footage of underground tunnels and bunkers under the al Shifa Hospital in Gaza, consistent with Israel’s reports that Hamas is using hospitals for its terror activities. Additionally, the IDF published surveillance footage reportedly showing hostages of the terror group being moved through the hospital.
Video footage of one of the tunnels was derived from devices lowered into a tunnel entrance that the IDF discovered in the Shifa complex.
The tunnel shaft features a winding staircase roughly ten feet deep, then continues down for roughly another 20 feet until it reaches the tunnel network.
The tunnel runs roughly another 15 feet before it turns to travel roughly 150 feet, where it ends in a blast door permitting Hamas to fire through it, the IDF noted, stating, “This type of door is used by the Hamas terror organization to block the ability of our forces to enter the organization’s headquarters and underground assets.”

“The findings prove beyond all doubt that buildings in the hospital complex are used as infrastructure for the Hamas terror organization, for terror activity,” the IDF said. “This is further proof of the cynical use that the Hamas terror organization makes of the residents of the Gaza Strip as a human shield for its murderous terror activities.”
As reported by The Times of Israel, additional footage and images released by the IDF from surveillance cameras at al Shifa appear to show Hamas terrorists “inside the hospital and outside the rooms of the hostages, as well as stolen IDF vehicles brought to the medical center.”
“In the footage published Sunday by the military, one of the hostages is visibly wounded in his arm and is brought in on a hospital bed, while the second is forcefully dragged into the hospital on his feet,” the outlet reported.
“These findings prove that the Hamas terror organization used Shifa Hospital on the day of the massacre itself as terror infrastructure,” the IDF said.

A British doctor who worked for three months at Al Shifa hospital in 2021 stated, “The main point was when I was first asked to work there, I was told that there was a part of the hospital I was not to go near, and if I did I’d be in danger of being shot.”
Asked if it was explained to him why that was, he answered, “No, but implicit was that it was being used for non-medical purposes. … I saw a few dodgy-looking non-medical characters going in and out all the time. It was a ward leading to a basement. … The hushed tones under which this was said was consistent with all the other hushed tones with which Hamas was discussed. You know, people were genuinely fearful. I cannot emphasize too much the air of collective paranoia that existed there.”
