British prosecutors have issued 38 new criminal charges against Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan after the pair were arrested in Miami on Saturday by federal officials on rape charges and an outstanding warrant in the United Kingdom.

A massive water main break near the Sunset Strip overnight flooded parts of West Hollywood early Thursday morning, sending a river of water rushing downhill through neighborhoods of one of Los Angeles County&#8217;s most leftist enclaves.

Water crews shut down the damaged water main after several hours, leaving behind a massive sinkhole near the rupture.
&#8220;Obviously, a lot of people are still in a state of shock,&#8221; West Hollywood Mayor John Heilman <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/07/16/us-news/west-hollywood-water-main-break-floods-streets/">told</a> the California Post on Thursday morning. &#8220;They have had water damage to their sub-garages. With Democrats abandoning Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner after new sexual assault accusations dropped on Monday, the party is evaluating options on how to move forward with the general election less than four months away.
There is still time for Maine Democrats to replace Platner on November&#8217;s general election ballot.
If Platner were to withdraw by 5 p.m. next Monday, July 13, Democrats would then have until 5 p.m. on Monday, July 27, to select a new nominee. Maine Democrats would not hold another primary. Instead, party officials would choose a replacement. The deadlines are designed to give election officials enough time to finalize and print general election ballots.
If Platner remains in the race after the July 13 cutoff, Democrats cannot replace him, and his name will remain on the November ballot. Maine law allows later replacements only if the candidate dies or suffers an incapacitating illness or injury.
Similar to Democrats replacing President Joe Biden with Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential race, Maine Democrats could choose a new nominee without holding another primary.
Platner, who easily won last month&#8217;s Democratic primary, is trying to unseat incumbent Republican Sen. Susan Collins in one of the cycle&#8217;s most closely watched Senate races. His campaign was thrown into turmoil after former girlfriends described his volatile behavior and claimed he knew the meaning behind his Nazi tattoo. On Monday, POLITICO published a report in which a woman accused him of raping her in 2021. Platner denied the claim.
The accusation led multiple Democrats, including Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), and the Maine Democratic Party, to call on Platner to withdraw.
In a video released Monday, he said the accusation was false and added that he was taking time to &#8220;reflect on the best path forward.&#8221;

Public safety agencies across the United States will deploy drones to spot illegal fireworks during Fourth of July celebrations, thanks to new federal rules that accelerated drone-based enforcement.
Last year, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) loosened regulations, allowing cities and counties to launch Drone as First Responder (DFR) initiatives more quickly by cutting bureaucratic red tape. That change led to an increase in the number of policing organizations implementing DFR programs, jumping from 50 to an estimated 1,500 nationwide. The rapid expansion reflects how drone-based enforcement has become a national trend, not only for monitoring illegal fireworks but also for emergency response, crowd management, and search-and-rescue operations.
While some cities have used drones to monitor fireworks for years, this is the first July 4th holiday where aerial enforcement is widespread.
California has been one of the most aggressive adopters, largely because of the extreme risk of wildfires and the prevalence of illegal pyrotechnics. Several cities, including San Jose, Sacramento, and Riverside, are deploying aerial enforcement units specifically to monitor fireworks this holiday weekend. Other western states with similar wildfire risks, including Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah, have also adopted unmanned aircraft operations teams. First responders say drones help them detect and respond to fires quickly, especially in wooded areas and during the dry summer months.
The Wheat Ridge Police Department in Colorado has relied on drones to monitor illegal fireworks since 2024, and the Riverside Police Department began using them last year. The drones can capture footage to be used for citations and prosecutions, according to a spokesman.
“This has been a spectacular tool for us to identify those who obviously make the decision to not follow the rules and be unsafe,” Det. Steven Espinosa, public information officer for the Riverside PD, told the Los Angeles Times.
The growing use of DFR programs has raised some privacy concerns, but law enforcement says the technology is deployed only in response to specific calls, not for general surveillance. Iran&#8217;s Foreign Ministry flatly contradicted U.S. claims that Tehran had agreed to allow international nuclear inspectors into the country, setting up a sharp public dispute over the outcome of talks in Switzerland.
Spokesman Esmail Baghaei said Iran had held no meeting with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi and had made no arrangements for the agency to inspect nuclear facilities damaged in U.S. and Israeli strikes.
&#8220;Neither have we had a meeting with the director general of the IAEA, nor is there a plan for agency inspections of Iran&#8217;s damaged nuclear facilities,&#8221; Baghaei <a href="https://www.iranintl.com/en/202606237072">declared</a>. &#8220;There is no protocol for this issue.&#8221;
The denial came after Vice President JD Vance <a href="https://edition.cnn.com/2026/06/22/world/live-news/iran-war-trump-israel-lebanon-hnk?post-id=cmqph0dfm00003b6wl4svidml">told reporters</a> in Switzerland that Iran&#8217;s agreement to admit IAEA inspectors was &#8220;probably what we&#8217;re most excited about as Americans.&#8221; Vance <a href="https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2026/jun/22/jd-vance-says-iran-agreed-allow-nuclear-inspectors-country-hails-good/">called it</a> part of a &#8220;good foundation&#8221; for a final peace deal to end the war that began in late February.
Iran&#8217;s account of those same talks was starkly different. Iranian officials told state media that nuclear issues were not negotiated during the Switzerland discussions and that Tehran had accepted no new obligations. Any future arrangements — including access to damaged nuclear sites or decisions about Iran&#8217;s enriched uranium stockpile — would be subject to a separate mechanism to be hammered out during the 60-day negotiating window established by the existing memorandum of understanding.
Baghaei framed Iran&#8217;s position as one of continuity rather than concession. As a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty, he said, Iran remains committed to its existing safeguard agreements — a formulation that stops well short of expanded access.
The dispute cuts to one of the central unresolved questions of the peace framework: what, if anything, Iran has actually committed to on the nuclear file. As former Pentagon official and current Director of Policy Analysis at the Middle East Forum Dr. Michael Rubin <a href="https://www.19fortyfive.com/2026/06/the-flaw-in-jd-vances-iran-deal-the-iaea-only-inspects-declared-nuclear-sites/">noted</a>, “The problem with IAEA inspections is that they are limited to declared nuclear sites. Former Vice President Kamala Harris provided her own peculiar definition of hope, adding to a growing list of rambling and confusing responses from the 2026 presidential candidate.

Harris was not finished, though. 

&#8220;And when we feel that and not allow an election or an individual to dampen that light, and instead light, let that light kind of carry us in particular through moments of darkness, that we not only act on that hope, but we inspire that hope in each other,&#8221; she added. 
Harris has quite the word salad catalog. We absolutely adhered to that, and it was right to do that.” 
“The Justice Department would make its decisions independent of any political or personal, uh, vendetta or concern that we may have and that’s the way it worked,” she finished, before Kimmel was forced to cut to commercial. 
In 2024, the then-presidential candidate <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kamala-serves-up-a-fresh-word-salad-about-democracy">offered</a> the following bit of insight on the nature of democracy:

Former reality TV star turned Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt dropped another viral video on Friday, declaring &#8220;war&#8221; on what he called &#8220;the machine&#8221; that left voters with &#8220;two corrupt communists&#8221; in the general election.
&#8220;I got in this to expose this corrupt machine,&#8221; Pratt says at the beginning of the video. &#8220;I don&#8217;t have the campaign laws hamstringing me now. It&#8217;s war.&#8221;
The three-minute video, called &#8220;Saving LA &#8211; Phase III,&#8221; targets incumbent Mayor Karen Bass and far-left Councilmember Nithya Raman, two Democrats who advanced to the November runoff after Pratt finished third in the primary.
Pratt said he is now &#8220;moving on to the next, more interesting phase&#8221; of his mission, which includes a secret recording he claims implicates &#8220;one of your exalted candidates.&#8221; He threatened to make the recording public and said it would &#8220;make her resign in shame.&#8221;

&#8220;Go ahead and pick your demon, certify your choice, and then you get to see it,&#8221; he said. &#8220;So Karen and Nithya, ask yourself, is it possible that one of your employees may have a recording of you doing or saying something that would force you to resign in disgrace? I hope you sleep well over the next five months.&#8221;
Pratt painted a bleak picture of L.A. through images of rampant graffiti, garbage-strewn streets, drug activity, public defecation, burned-out structures, and shuttered businesses.
&#8220;Angelenos are now stuck with two morons responsible for all of their problems, and they have to choose between dumb and dumber,&#8221; Pratt said. &#8220;That&#8217;s not a choice. That&#8217;s the machine protecting the machine.&#8221;
&#8220;And now every problem that plagues Los Angeles because of these two corrupt communists is going to accelerate, and the city will tumble headlong into the abyss,&#8221; he added.
With roughly 98% of the vote counted, Bass finished first in the primary with 34.3% of the vote, while Raman overtook Pratt earlier this week to finish second with 28.9%. Pratt received 25.5%. The top two finishers advance to the general election unless one candidate receives more than 50% of the vote.
Pratt, a Republican, vowed to continue attacking both Democrats through the runoff campaign.
&#8220;I&#8217;m going to be lighting you up every single day,&#8221; Pratt promised.
&#8220;My goal hasn&#8217;t changed. I&#8217;ve been laser-focused on stopping these commie animals, and I will stop them.&#8221;

Xavier Becerra, a Democrat who served as Health and Human Services Secretary during the Biden administration, has advanced to the runoff in the California gubernatorial race in November&#8217;s general election, several media outlets projected on Friday.
His opponent is still unknown, but Republican Steve Hilton narrowly trails Becerra, according to the latest tally. Becerra overtook Hilton in the vote count over the past 24 hours.
With 66% of the votes in on Friday evening, Becerra leads with 26.7% support, ahead of Hilton at 26.4%. Both were ahead of billionaire Democrat Tom Steyer, who was at 21%. Under California&#8217;s top-two primary system, candidates from the same party can advance to the general election if they finish in the top two.
On Thursday evening, with 58% of the vote reported, Hilton led Becerra by more than a point, at 27.2%. Becerra was at 25.9%, while Steyer was third with 20.1%.

&#8220;We will not be bought. We will not be bullied. And we are never backing down,&#8221; he added.
President Donald Trump has commented on California&#8217;s lengthy ballot tallying process and accused Democrats of election fraud.
&#8220;Look what&#8217;s happening in California, the Dumocrats, right before our very eyes, are stealing the vote,&#8221; Trump <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/116693025089379568">posted</a> on Truth Social on Thursday.
In another post, Trump said, &#8220;There&#8217;s BIG cheating by the Dumocrats in California. Votes are all tied up. May not be in for weeks. Under investigation by the U.S. Attorney&#8217;s Office in Los Angeles. Why the vote counting DELAY???&#8221;
Becerra responded to Trump&#8217;s accusations, claiming the president is &#8220;trying to undermine confidence in our elections because he&#8217;s a repeat loser here.&#8221;
&#8220;Sorry Donald, the voters decide who leads California. Not you,&#8221; he added.

Becerra served 12 terms in Congress and is a former California attorney general. He is considered more of an establishment, moderate Democrat than Steyer. He quickly rose in the polls after former Rep. Eric Swalwell dropped out of the gubernatorial race amid sexual assault accusations.

The final tally of California’s races could take as long as three weeks. Unlike many states that require mail ballots to arrive by Election Day, California accepts ballots that arrive up to 7 days later if postmarked on time. Nearly 48 hours after the polls closed in California, the results of the gubernatorial primary and the Los Angeles mayor’s race remain unresolved as President Donald Trump has accused Democrats in the state of attempting to &#8220;steal&#8221; the elections.
With just 58% of the vote reported Thursday evening, Republican Steve Hilton still leads the gubernatorial primary with 27.2% support, ahead of Democrat Xavier Becerra at 25.9%. Both were ahead of billionaire Democrat Tom Steyer, who was at 20.1%. On Wednesday evening, 55% of the vote had been counted.
Despite Hilton’s lead, millions of ballots are still uncounted, making it too early to determine the final order of finish. Under California’s top-two primary system, candidates from the same party can advance to a runoff in November’s general election if they finish in the top two.
In the Los Angeles mayoral race, just 66% of the vote had been counted by Thursday evening, up from 62% from Wednesday evening. Incumbent Democrat Mayor Karen Bass still leads with 35.1% support, followed by Republican Spencer Pratt at 29.4%. Far-left Councilmember Nithya Raman was third with 23.4%.
The top two votegetters in the mayoral primary, regardless of party, secure a place in the November runoff if neither receives more than 50% of the vote. Bass has already secured a spot in the runoff, according to projections.
