Twitter Roasts Bloomberg News For Trotting Out A Child To Comment On Supreme Court Ethics

Bloomberg Opinion was roasted online for using a child to comment on Supreme Court ethics.

Bloomberg’s “Crash Course” podcast aired an episode on Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’s alleged conflicts of interest. During the episode, host Tim O’Brien asked his son Cooper for his thoughts on financial conflicts of interest, to which the boy replied that they should not be allowed to happen. Bloomberg tweeted about it, and were promptly roasted by Twitter users.

“What do you think a financial conflict of interest is?” O’Brien asked his son.

“When two people both share a bank account and [one person] wants to spend money on something but the other person doesn’t,” Cooper guessed.

“That’s a good thought,” said O’Brien. “What if I told you it describes when powerful people, like people who sit on the Supreme Court, have money or other things they own and that might affect how they rule on things?”

“I don’t think that’s correct and I don’t think that should happen,” Cooper said.

Bloomberg Opinion promoted the episode on its Twitter account. “These 9 people make decisions on the future of democracy in the US,” the post said. “But they aren’t held to the same level of accountability as Congress. Even Cooper, the son of our podcast host, thinks that’s a problem.”

The response to Bloomberg’s tweet was swift. Twitter users lambasted the outlet for using a child to push the Left’s anti-Supreme Court agenda.

“Well if Cooper says so, that means that Article MCVII of the Constitution has been invoked, so the Supreme Court is officially disbanded,” Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro tweeted.

“Children are currently used as activists on climate change and gun control, as we lay out in Stolen Youth,” tweeted Karol Markowicz, journalist and author of the book “Stolen Youth.” “Look for them to move child soldiers to other issues.”

“Sure you’ve heard from James Madison, but what does the son of our podcast host have to say,” Blaze host Auron MacIntyre tweeted.

“The woke eight-year-olds are writing opinion pieces about dismantling the Consitution,” MacIntyre added.

“‘They aren’t held to the same level of accountability as Congress.’ Congress exempts itself from laws including the ability to insider trade,” one user wrote.

“I love the ‘Even Cooper’ bit, as if children are notoriously difficult to fool,” wrote another.

“I guess it’s ‘Try to Undermine the Supreme Court’ week for the DC Media or something,” another user chimed in.

“I’ve never seen an appeal to the authority of a child but I suppose that’s appropriate for such childish opinions,” a user tweeted.

“The Left is the greatest defender of SCOTUS when it’s progressive, but it has the completely opposite position when it’s conservative,” said another.

Justice Clarence Thomas has come under fire from the Left in recent weeks after the left-wing outlet ProPublica reported that Thomas accepted paid travel expenses — including flights, staying on a yacht, and other accommodations — from real estate magnate and billionaire Republican donor Harlan Crow. Thomas accepted the gifts for decades, and said “there are few restrictions on what gifts justices can accept,” in contrast to members of Congress, who are not allowed to accept gifts over $50.

Both Thomas and Crow have since responded to the allegations.
