Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, a senior adviser to President Donald Trump, said on Tuesday that he will dial back his spending on future political campaigns.
Asked about his plans for political contributions at Bloomberg&#8217;s Qatar Economic Forum, Musk said over video that he&#8217;s &#8220;going to do a lot less in the future.&#8221; Musk <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/elon-musk-277-million-trump-republican-candidates-donations/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">spent</a> nearly $240 million through his political action committee, America PAC, helping Trump and Republicans in the 2024 election cycle. His comments on Tuesday, however, indicate that he won&#8217;t be as aggressive in pushing Republicans in the 2026 midterm elections.
&#8220;I think I&#8217;ve done enough,&#8221; Musk said, adding, &#8220;If I see a reason to do political spending in the future, I will do it. I do not currently see a reason.&#8221;

Along with his major donations to the Republican effort last election cycle, Musk was also a major fixture on the campaign trail, appearing multiple times alongside Trump. After Trump took office in January, Musk led the effort, alongside the Department of Government Efficiency project, to find waste and fraud within the federal government.
After joining Trump in the White House, Musk got behind the conservative candidate in the closely watched Wisconsin Supreme Court election, saying the race could affect the &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/musk-says-wisconsin-supreme-court-election-is-a-vote-for-which-party-controls-the-house" target="_blank" rel="noopener">entire destiny</a>&#8221; of humanity. Musk&#8217;s America PAC spent millions of dollars on race, but conservative candidate Brad Schimel <a href="https://apnews.com/projects/election-results-2025/wisconsin/?r=50888" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lost</a> to liberal candidate Susan Crawford by 10 percentage points, and the liberals maintained a majority on the court.
Musk, who was regularly seen with the president during the Trump administration&#8217;s first 100 days, has taken a step back from overseeing Trump&#8217;s DOGE initiative.

The Tesla CEO added in his interview on Tuesday that he is committed to leading the electric car company for at least the next five years, <a href="https://x.com/SawyerMerritt/status/1924835630858543332" target="_blank" rel="noopener">saying</a> that he wants “sufficient voting control” to keep Tesla from falling into the hands of activist investors.
“It’s not a money thing,” Musk said. “It’s a reasonable control thing over the future of the company.”
Musk&#8217;s shift back to focusing on Tesla comes after the company saw a drop in revenue and net income over the first quarter of 2025. Tesla stock dropped from $379 at the beginning of January to $222 at the beginning of April. Since then, however, the stock has climbed back up to $349. After Musk became a senior adviser to Trump and pushed for major government spending cuts, Tesla has been targeted by leftist activists who have set fires to and vandalized vehicles and threatened Tesla dealerships.
&#8220;Firing bullets into showrooms and burning down cars is unacceptable. Those people will go to prison, and the people that funded them and organized them will also go to prison. Last year, the Columbia University Apartheid Divest coalition publicly acknowledged a deeper truth: they are fighting to “eradicate” Western civilization. The conversation turned to China and the communist nation&#8217;s aggression toward U.S. trade partner Taiwan, and Trump argued that if China were making a move on the tiny island nation, it would be because they knew they couldn&#8217;t do so if he were re-elected in November.
Micklethwait framed the question by noting that China was preparing for a &#8220;test run&#8221; of a &#8220;full naval blockade&#8221; and asked, &#8220;If China invades Taiwan, would you send American troops to defend it?&#8221;

Still, Harris has begun to ramp up her interview schedule in the final weeks before Election Day after largely ducking the press early in her campaign and facing claims that she <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jd-vance-explains-why-he-doesnt-use-a-teleprompter-kamala-hardest-hit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">struggles</a> without a teleprompter.
The shift comes as polling shows Harris and Trump in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/new-emerson-poll-sucks-the-joy-right-out-of-kamalas-campaign" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a close race</a>. Harris recently participated in a slew of relatively friendly interviews, including ABC’s &#8220;The View,&#8221; Sirius XM radio host Howard Stern, late-night host Stephen Colbert on CBS, and Alex Cooper’s podcast &#8220;Call Her Daddy.&#8221;
Another interview with CBS News&#8217; &#8220;60 Minutes&#8221; drew controversy because the network deceptively edited remarks from Harris, leading to calls for more <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/u-s-senators-push-cbs-news-to-release-full-kamala-60-minutes-interview" target="_blank" rel="noopener">transparency</a> and an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ex-cbs-news-reporters-call-for-network-to-launch-probe-in-60-minutes-scandal" target="_blank" rel="noopener">investigation</a>. Bloomberg News was forced to edit a glaring mistake in what was apparently intended to be a glowing profile of Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/tim-walz" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tim Walz</a> (D-MN) — a mistake that only fanned the social media flames surrounding already-existing claims that Walz was guilty of stolen valor.
Kamala Harris, who only rose to the top of the ticket two weeks earlier after President Joe Biden announced that he could not continue his campaign, announced on Tuesday that Walz would be her running mate, and the <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newsletters/2024-08-06/tim-walz-vice-presidential-pick-stands-out-as-teacher-and-veteran" target="_blank" rel="noopener">article in question</a> — headlined &#8220;Walz’s Holy Trinity of Normal: Coach, Teacher, Veteran&#8221; — was published just hours later.
In the piece, Bloomberg Businessweek correspondent Joshua Green referenced Walz&#8217;s military career — just over 24 years in the Nebraska (1981-1996) and then Minnesota (1996-2005) National Guard — but flubbed a couple of key details when he claimed that Walz had deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Marine Corps veteran and editor-in-chief of The Daily Caller Geoff Ingersoll pointed out the fact that OEF was Afghanistan. Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) was the campaign that put boots on the ground in Iraq. Additionally, Walz never deployed to Iraq at all — and numerous reports state that he took a conditional promotion to the rank of Command Sergeant Major only to back out and abruptly retire altogether shortly after being informed that his unit was scheduled to deploy to Iraq. But the reason the story grew legs so quickly is that Walz has, in the past, been accused of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/is-the-honeymoon-over-already-cnn-fact-checks-tim-walz-over-stolen-valor-claims" target="_blank" rel="noopener">embellishing his military career</a> and using those embellishments to push a political agenda. In order to push for an &#8220;assault weapons&#8221; ban, for example, Walz has suggested that his experience carrying such weapons &#8220;in war&#8221; makes him qualified to tell civilians what they should not carry anywhere else.

Even CNN was forced to fact-check Walz on that comment, saying that &#8220;there is a difference between being in a combat area, being involved in a time of war, and actually being in a position where people are shooting at you. There is no evidence that any time that Governor Walz was in the position of being shot at and some of his language could easily be seen to suggest that he was.&#8221;

Former President Donald Trump is leading President Joe Biden in six out of seven key swing states as Americans believe the economy is going in the wrong direction, <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-04-24/biden-trails-trump-in-6-of-7-key-states-poll-shows-election-2024?leadSource=uverify%20wall" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to a new Bloomberg News/Morning Consult poll.
The <a href="https://pro-assets.morningconsult.com/wp-uploads/2024/04/Bloomberg_2024-Election-Tracking-Wave-7.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">poll</a> of nearly 5,000 registered voters found that Trump leads Biden in key states like Arizona (49-42), Georgia (49-43), Nevada (51-43), North Carolina (51-41), Pennsylvania (47-46), and Wisconsin (48-44), while Biden tops Trump in Michigan (47-45). The majority of those polled had a negative view of the economy&#8217;s direction, with many believing it would only get worse.
According to the poll, 70% of those surveyed believed the economy was going in the wrong direction, while 30% said it was going the right way. When asked how important the economy would be in determining who they pick for president, 82% said it would be &#8220;very important,&#8221; while 14% said it would be &#8220;somewhat important.&#8221; 
Americans also believe that inflation is worsening, with 54% saying they expected it to intensify by the end of the year and 17% saying they believed it would improve. Inflation has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bidenflation-number-of-americans-growing-food-at-home-soars" target="_blank" rel="noopener">remained high</a> during the Biden presidency, with customers paying elevated prices for staples like food and gas. A political action committee backing Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-pac-launches-interactive-website-to-show-how-food-prices-have-skyrocketed-under-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">launched</a> a &#8220;Biden-mart&#8221; website last month highlighting the dramatic increase in food prices. 
“Some of the shine of the State of the Union address has worn off,” Matt Monday, senior manager of Morning Consult, said. “People are really tying &#8216;Bidenomics&#8217; and their perception of the economy to the inflation rate.”
More than half of voters surveyed (51%) said they trusted Trump more with the economy than Biden (36%), while 13% said neither. 46% of voters also said they trusted Trump more on the issue of good jobs than Biden (38%).

By far, the economy ranked as the number one issue for voters polled, with 34% saying it would be their top issue in the presidential election. The only other top issue that polled in the double digits was immigration at 15%, while abortion, a top issue for the Biden campaign, came in at 9%.
Neither Biden nor Trump had a majority of voters who viewed them favorably. While 56% said they had an unfavorable or somewhat unfavorable view of Biden, just 41% said they had a favorable or somewhat favorable view of the president. Trump was viewed unfavorably or somewhat unfavorably by 41% of voters, while 45% had a favorable or very favorable view of him. 
Other issues voters found important included immigration (86%), crime (91%), education and schools (87%), and senior services (89%).

It&#8217;s an astonishing statistic that took the internet by storm: 94% of jobs created in 2021 went to racial minorities. It&#8217;s also completely untrue.
The conclusion from Bloomberg — which credits five reporters and four editors for <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2023-black-lives-matter-equal-opportunity-corporate-diversity/?srnd=premium" target="_blank" rel="noopener">its report</a> — is that on the heels of the Black Lives Matter protests, corporations followed through on their promise to diversify their ranks. The outlet reported that companies in the S&amp;P 100 added 323,094 new employees in 2021, and that only 20,524 of those new jobs were filled by whites.
If true, such a statistic could launch a legion of victorious racial discrimination lawsuits — blacks, Asians, and Hispanics make up roughly 40% of the population, and there is no way they could obtain 94% of new jobs without some level of discrimination.
But the takeaway from Bloomberg is an example of innumeracy by journalists at an outlet once relied upon by businessmen for savvy financial analysis — or of willfully setting aside common sense in favor of what the publication acknowledged is an ideologically-driven &#8220;project to <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newsletters/2023-09-26/how-nike-cvs-amazon-drove-diversity-change-post-george-floyd-protests?srnd=premium&amp;leadSource=uverify%20wall" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hold companies accountable</a> to [diversity] pledges.&#8221;
A Daily Wire analysis of the same numbers examined by Bloomberg found that, in reality, the demographics of hiring figures for 2021 were barely different from previous years. The percentage of new jobs that went to whites was likely about 46%, eight points below the 54% white makeup of companies&#8217; existing workforces. That&#8217;s to be expected given demographic changes in the United States since the time that the currently-retiring baby boomer generation first entered the workforce.
Though Bloomberg spun the tale as a victory for Black Lives Matter, blacks benefited the least of any racial group from the slight decline in whites, according to the analysis. The percentage of black hires was up from the status quo by 1%, while Asians were up by 2%, and Hispanics were up by 4%. That&#8217;s also explained by demographics — decades ago, when baby boomers entered the workforce, the U.S. was mostly white and black; in the decades since, the numbers of Hispanics and Asians in the United States have increased.
Here&#8217;s how Bloomberg got the story wrong, and how numbers actually work.
Bloomberg based its analysis on a form companies file to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission listing the racial breakdown of their U.S. employees. The forms are filed annually, but they don&#8217;t break out stats for employees hired that year; they just provide the total headcount of all employees by race.
Bloomberg, reaching for a way to isolate recent numbers, focused on the fact that companies increased their cumulative headcount by some 320,000 in 2021. Then they made a flawed leap of logic: They took the increase of minorities across the entire workforce, and divided it by the number of new positions — not the number of actual hires, which overwhelmingly come from replacing people who leave the company. In short, they got the denominator wrong.
&#8220;Bloomberg obtained 2020 and 2021 data for 88 S&amp;P 100 companies and calculated overall US job growth at those firms&#8230;.  Overall, these companies increased their headcount by 323,094 employees in 2021,&#8221; the outlet wrote. &#8220;Bloomberg then analyzed the racial makeup of those additional workers, finding that 94% of them were people of color.&#8221;
But it’s not possible from the data to say that those additional “people of color” took the 320,000 newly created positions. Most of them were almost certainly hired as part of a much larger group: replacements for existing jobs that were vacated by retirees or people changing jobs.
The 88 companies in Bloomberg’s study together employed 8.9 million workers in 2020. Based on a <a href="https://www.netsuite.com/portal/resource/articles/human-resources/employee-turnover-statistics.shtml#:~:text=What%20is%20a%20good%20employee,is%20known%20as%20involuntary%20turnover." target="_blank" rel="noopener">typical annual turnover rate of 18%</a>, an estimated 1.6 million people would have left and been replaced in 2021. So the increase in minorities shouldn&#8217;t be calculated as 300,000 out of 320,000 — it&#8217;s 300,000 out of roughly 2 million (1.6 million plus 320,000).
Some companies may have had no employment growth at all, just turnover from retirements. Bloomberg&#8217;s methodology could capture minor demographic changes across companies like this, then apply all those changes to a small number of newly-created positions from entirely different companies.
Take this hypothetical: There are two companies, each staffed by 100 white people. One of them replaces 20 retiring white employees with 20 black employees. The other is very profitable, so it creates 10 new positions, all given to whites. Bloomberg&#8217;s methodology would conclude that the companies, as a group, hired 20 black people into 10 new jobs, and that minorities received 200% of jobs. This is obviously impossible, and in fact, all of the new jobs went to whites.

In 2020, the S&amp;P companies were just under 54% white. If every retiree was replaced with someone of the same race, and whites also got the same share of the new jobs, you&#8217;d expect to see 173,000 whites added. Bloomberg observes that there were only 20,000 whites added.
What this tells us is there was a shortage of approximately 153,000 whites — but that&#8217;s not across the 320,000, it&#8217;s across 2 million jobs filled. Instead of hiring just over 1 million whites (54%), they hired about 884,000 (45%).
On the &#8220;people of color&#8221; side, Bloomberg said that Hispanics grew by 131,000 in the 320,000 jobs. But they actually simply got their share of newly-created new jobs (54,000), plus out of the 864,000 whites retiring, 77,000 were replaced by Hispanics.
In all, we can compute that of the 2 million jobs filled in 2021, about 400,000 went to Hispanics — 20%, which is only slightly higher than the 17% in the legacy workforce.
Following the same logic, the number of 2021 hires who were Asian was 12%, slightly higher than the 10% of the legacy workforce, while blacks went up 1%, from 17% to 18%.
Though blacks benefited the least from the decline in whites, that&#8217;s expected because blacks, who make up 12% of the population, are actually overrepresented in the workforce studied by Bloomberg.
Robert VerBruggen, an economic policy fellow at the Manhattan Institute, agreed that Bloomberg’s analysis failed to take into account the workers leaving and their demographics.
“The country&#8217;s demographics are changing — older generations are much whiter than younger ones,” VerBruggen told The Daily Wire. “If whites are disproportionately retiring and non-whites are disproportionately getting jobs, that will skew the numbers, giving the appearance of a serious commitment to equity — or mass violations of civil-rights law, depending on one&#8217;s perspective.”
A telltale sign that Bloomberg&#8217;s &#8220;percentage of the net increase&#8221; methodology is flawed, VerBruggen explained, is that, if the departures of whites had been just a little higher, the net change in whites would have been negative instead of the actual small growth of 20,000. Bloomberg&#8217;s methodology would then assert that whites took a negative percentage of the new 320,000 jobs, a mathematic impossibility.
The study also received pushback from pollster Patrick Ruffini, who <a href="https://twitter.com/PatrickRuffini/status/1707022523391488291" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Bloomberg’s analysis was “statistically illiterate” and pointed out the outlet’s failure to take into account employee turnover.
“This stuff could be the product of generational turnover in the workforce,” Ruffini said. “If retirees are 80% white and new workers are 55% in line with demographics of young workers, you get numbers like this.”
Normally in journalism, there is a safeguard that comes in the form of calling the companies mentioned for comment. But Bloomberg said &#8220;none of the half-dozen companies with the most notable diversity gains wanted to discuss them in detail.&#8221;
The companies could have pointed out that Bloomberg&#8217;s methodology was flawed, and prevented them from publishing an error. But the error overstated their diversity gains, and it was clear from the reporters&#8217; bias that big diversity gains would be portrayed favorably. (The story was headlined “Corporate America Promised to Hire a Lot More People of Color. It Actually Did.”)
Asked about the methodology for its study, a Bloomberg spokeswoman said &#8220;We stand by our reporting and analysis.&#8221;

A former spokesman for the pedophile advocacy group Prostasia wrote a hit piece in Bloomberg against the new anti-child trafficking film &#8220;Sound of Freedom.&#8221;
Noah Berlatsky <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20211116021836/https://prostasia.org/blog/team/noah-berkatsky/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">served</a> in 2021 as communications director for Prostasia, a group that calls itself &#8220;a new kind of child protection organization,&#8221; but <a href="https://prostasia.org/blog/reducing-self-stigmatization-in-maps-can-reduce-risks-of-offending/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">works</a> to remove the stigma surrounding &#8220;MAPs&#8221; or &#8220;minor-attracted people.&#8221;
On Saturday, Bloomberg published an opinion article authored by Berlatsky, titled &#8220;QAnon and ‘Sound of Freedom’ Both Rely on Tired Hollywood Tropes.&#8221; The article was <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2023/07/15/qanon-and-sound-of-freedom-both-rely-on-tired-hollywood-tropes/c0b861ee-230a-11ee-8994-4b2d0b694a34_story.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reprinted</a> by The Washington Post.
In the article, Berlatsky, who is also a former NBC contributor, bashed &#8220;Sound of Freedom,&#8221; which has been hailed by conservatives since it premiered last month. The film is about a federal agent who saves a sister and brother from child trafficking and is based on a true story. The movie stars Jim Caviezel and was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/sound-of-freedom-film-based-on-a-true-story-exposes-horror-of-human-trafficking" target="_blank" rel="noopener">produced</a> by the same studio that made the faith-based series &#8220;The Chosen.&#8221;
Berlatsky claimed the film has been &#8220;embraced by the far right and Christians,&#8221; who he complains have &#8220;helped boost it to more than $50 million in receipts at the box office.&#8221;
Berlatsky also claimed &#8220;Sound of Freedom&#8221; is linked to the conspiracy theory QAnon. The movie&#8217;s creator recently <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/sound-freedom-movie-creator-tim-ballard-responds-qanon-allegations-sick-1812204" target="_blank" rel="noopener">called</a> allegations that the movie has a QAnon connection &#8220;sick,&#8221; and Caviezel, the film&#8217;s star, said he was unaware of the conspiracy in 2018 when the movie was filmed.
&#8220;But the truth is that the conspiratorial right and the Hollywood default aren&#8217;t that different — which is why, perhaps, our polity has had such difficulty rejecting QAnon, Trump and fascism,&#8221; Berlatsky wrote.
Critics have <a href="https://4w.pub/prostasia-normalize-pedophilia/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accused</a> Prostasia, the pedophile advocacy group, for years of trying to normalize pedophilia behind a thin smoke screen of &#8220;child protection.&#8221;

The group&#8217;s blog posts have mentioned &#8220;kink&#8221; and &#8220;child protection&#8221; in the same breath. Prostasia has also <a href="https://prostasia.org/blog/criminalizing-art-and-fiction-is-a-bridge-too-far-for-the-united-nations/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">argued</a> against criminalizing fantasy child pornography and in favor of keeping child sex dolls legal.
Besides his stint as communications director for Prostasia, Berlatsky has a long social media history of defending pedophiles.
&#8220;Pedophiles are essentially a stigmatized group. Certain people get designated as deviants, people hate them,&#8221; Berlatsky tweeted in February, 2017, <a href="https://www.zerohedge.com/political/bloomberg-sound-freedom-hit-piece-written-pro-pedo-contributor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to a screenshot.
&#8220;The issue isn&#8217;t that people care about the victims. The issue is that pedophiles are loathed,&#8221; Berlatsky tweeted the same day in 2017.
Berlatsky has also attacked the relationship between parents and their children.
&#8220;Parents are tyrants. &#8216;parent&#8217; is an oppressive class, like rich people or white 
people,&#8221; Berlatsky tweeted in December 2020.
&#8220;There are things you can do to try to minimize the abuse that&#8217;s endemic to the parent/child relationship, but it&#8217;s always there,&#8221; he added.
Meanwhile, gender ideology plays a large role in Berlatsky&#8217;s family. He has <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2021/06/19/opinions/fathers-day-transgender-daughter-bravery-trust-berlatsky/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">been vocal</a> about supporting his trans-identifying son, who now identifies as a girl.
In February, Berlatsky wrote an <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/news/wife-bisexual-nonbinary-daughter-transgender-195648373.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">article</a> for Insider, titled &#8220;My wife is bisexual and nonbinary, and my daughter is transgender. My queer family helped me better understand myself and my masculinity.&#8221;
Berlatsky&#8217;s Twitter account, which has more than 21,000 followers, is currently locked in private mode.

Former President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump">Donald Trump</a> is reportedly workshopping multiple new derogatory nicknames for Florida Republican Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ron-desantis">Ron DeSantis</a> as the race for the White House begins to heat up.
Bloomberg News senior reporter Jennifer Jacobs tweeted a report — authored by Nancy Cook — which said that Trump is spending &#8220;much of his and his team’s time&#8221; on complaining about a lack of media coverage, what he claims was a stolen election, and trying to come up with new names for DeSantis, who is widely expected to enter the presidential race in the coming months.
Jacobs said that, according to Trump&#8217;s allies, the former president is considering trying to label DeSantis as “Ron DisHonest,” “Ron DeEstablishment,” or “Tiny D.”
The report added that Trump is trying to &#8220;dig up dirt&#8221; on DeSantis&#8217; wife, recent breast cancer survivor Casey DeSantis, who has three children with the governor.

Despite Trump&#8217;s repeated attacks on DeSantis, the governor has not responded in kind and has instead focused on delivering for the voters of his state.
DeSantis even <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/desantis-commends-trump-in-new-book-despite-trumps-repeated-attacks">said</a> positive things about the former president in his top-selling new book “The Courage to Be Free: Florida’s Blueprint for America’s Revival,” saying that Trump &#8220;supported policies that appealed to the base in a way that GOP leaders in the DC swamp had been either incapable of doing or unwilling to do.&#8221;
When <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/desantis-on-trumps-attacks-ill-always-give-him-credit-for-the-things-that-he-did-that-were-positive">asked</a> during a recent Fox News interview about Trump&#8217;s derogatory name calling, DeSantis shrugged off the attacks, saying that those kind of attacks come with the territory.
“And, you know, he can say what he wants about me, I’ll always give him credit for the things that he did that were positive,” DeSantis continued. “And I’m appreciative of a lot of the things that he did — doesn’t mean I agree with everything that he’s doing lately or whatever. But ultimately, it’s about delivering for the people you represent and delivering for the country.&#8221;

President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-biden">Joe Biden</a> has been suckling off the government teat since he was 29. That&#8217;s 50 years.
At nearly 80, Biden has long forgotten what it&#8217;s like to have a real job. And he&#8217;s clearly completely out of touch with what average Americans are struggling through amid the highest inflation in 40 years.
&#8220;I’m not concerned about the strength of the dollar. I’m concerned about the rest of the world. Our economy is strong as hell,&#8221; Biden said last weekend.
“Inflation is worldwide. It’s worse off than it is in the United States,” he added. “So the problem is the lack of economic growth and sound policy in other countries, not so much ours.”
Amid voluminous criticism, the White House doubled down on Biden&#8217;s insane stance that the economy is &#8220;strong as hell.&#8221;
&#8220;The president understands … that inflation is an issue, high costs is an issue for the American people, and so he’s been very clear about making that his number one economic priority. And he has done the work,&#8221; Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
He&#8217;s done the work?! Wrong. WE&#8217;RE doing the work &#8212; and lots of it.
In Biden&#8217;s dismal economy, more than half of working Americans have considered getting a second job to make ends meet.
&#8220;About 38% of workers have looked for a second job, while an additional 14% have plans to do so, according to a survey of more than 1,000 full-time US employees by Qualtrics International Inc., which makes software used by over 16,000 organizations,&#8221; Bloomberg News <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-10-19/inflation-forces-over-50-of-americans-to-consider-a-side-hustle?leadSource=uverify%20wall">reported</a>. &#8220;At the same time, 18% of working adults said they had moved to an area with a lower cost of living to cut expenses, and another 13% plan to do so.&#8221;
Why? &#8220;About 70% say their pay isn’t keeping up with rising expenses. A recent Brookings Institution study estimated that the current spike in prices means it will now cost more than $300,000 to raise a child to age 17, up $26,000 since inflation took hold,&#8221; Bloomberg reported.
At the same time, 401k&#8217;s are being crushed in Biden&#8217;s economy. The housing market has crashed, and mortgage rates have soared above 7%. And real wages have not kept pace with inflation, actually <a href="https://mishtalk.com/economics/real-year-over-year-wages-decline-for-18-consecutive-months">dropping</a> by 3% during Biden&#8217;s presidency.
That&#8217;s all terrible news for Biden. Inflation is &#8220;extremely or very important&#8221; for 82% of Americans, but Biden&#8217;s approval rating on the issue is just 30%, a <a href="https://www.monmouth.edu/polling-institute/reports/monmouthpoll_us_100322/">Monmouth poll</a> found this month. Crime is second at 72%, but Biden&#8217;s handling is 32%. And immigration comes in at 67% for voters, but the president&#8217;s approval rating is 31%.
“Democrats are all over the place when it comes to their key issues. This makes it difficult for the party to create a cohesive messaging strategy to motivate its base. Republicans, on the other hand, just have to hammer away at rising prices and ‘the wolf is at the door’ to get their voters riled up,” said Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute.
“A major problem for Democrats is their base messaging doesn’t hold as much appeal for independents as the GOP issue agenda does. Even though truly persuadable independents are a rather small group these days, this small difference can have a major impact given the expectation that congressional control will hinge on a handful of very close contests,&#8221; Murray said.

Elon Musk and Twitter could reach a deal for the tech billionaire to buy the social media platform as early as today, in an agreement that could exceed $46.5 billion that would bring nearly two weeks of trolling, hand-wringing, and bickering to a dramatic end, according to two reports.
Twitter&#8217;s share price has risen since Musk made his offer of $54.20 per share, pushing the cost of a takeover closer to $50 billion than the original $43 billion.
Talks are in the &#8220;final stretch,&#8221; <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-04-25/twitter-on-track-to-reach-deal-with-musk-as-soon-as-monday?sref=WFt20nR4&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=socialflow-organic&amp;utm_content=markets&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;cmpid%3D=socialflow-twitter-markets">Bloomberg reported</a>, citing a person with knowledge the matter. The San Francisco-based platform and world&#8217;s richest man could have a deal by the end of the day if they can hammer out terms, according to the person. <a href="https://www.reuters.com/technology/exclusive-twitter-set-accept-musks-best-final-offer-sources-2022-04-25/">Reuters reported</a> that Twitter&#8217;s board of directors is poised to recommend shareholders accept Musk&#8217;s $54.20-per-share offer
It remains possible that the deal could collapse at the last minute, the sources told Reuters.
The rapid development comes after Musk met Sunday with Twitter executives to demonstrate he had financing in place. The Tesla mogul had earlier hinted he might bypass the board with a tender offer directly to shareholders if the board rejected the bid he first announced on April 14. The share price of Twitter has risen nearly 7% since Musk made his offer, but still remain some 10% below his offer. Shares were up another 4.5% in pre-market trading Monday, at $51.15.
“A concern that Twitter’s board is weighing is that unless it seeks to negotiate a deal with Musk, many shareholders could back him in a tender offer,” Reuters <a href="https://financialpost.com/pmn/business-pmn/twitter-under-shareholder-pressure-to-seek-deal-with-musk-sources-say">reported</a>.
The Twitter board, which includes founder Jack Dorsey and current CEO Parag Agrawal, initially tried to fend off Musk with a so-called &#8220;poison pill,&#8221; which would dilute the value of his shares and allow current shareholders to increase their holdings. But now the board seems to recognize that Musk, who says he wants to take Twitter private to help it grow and better embrace freedom of speech, may have gained the upper hand.
“While the poison pill would prevent Twitter shareholders from tendering their shares, the company is worried that its negotiating hand would weaken considerably if it was shown to be going against the will of many of its investors,” sources told Reuters.
In a Securities and Exchange Commission <a href="https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/0001418091/000110465922048128/tm2213229d1_sc13da.htm">filing</a>, Musk revealed he had obtained a debt commitment letter from Morgan Stanley Senior Funding, Inc. and certain other financial institutions showing they were committed to provide $13 billion in financing to him; a separate debt commitment letter from Morgan Stanley Senior Funding, Inc. and certain other financial institutions committing to provide $12.5 billion in margin loans, and an equity commitment letter in which Musk committed to provide equity financing for his offer.
<a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/twitter-re-examines-elon-musks-bid-may-be-more-receptive-to-a-deal-11650822932?mod=hp_lead_pos1">The Wall Street Journal</a> reported Sunday that Musk, who had informed  Twitter Chairman Bret Taylor he would not budge on his $54.20-a-share offer for the company, had met privately on video calls with several shareholders on Friday:
Since making his offer, Musk has used the platform itself &#8211; on which he has 80 million followers &#8211; to criticize its silencing of conservative viewpoints. He has also said he would consider making immediate changes, including adding an &#8220;edit&#8221; button and changing the way users gain coveted &#8220;blue checkmark&#8221; status.
