Joy Behar appeared to suggest on Thursday that classified documents found at President Joe Biden’s think tank, his home, and even his garage may have been planted, expressing skepticism that they would mysteriously “appear” in time to draw attention away from a probe into former President Donald Trump’s own handling of secret documents.
Behar joined her co-hosts on ABC’s “The View” to discuss the most recent reports of classified documents — apparently taken from the White House when Biden left the vice presidency — that were discovered first in Biden’s office at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement, and then in both his home and his garage.

Whoopi Goldberg began the attack, lashing out at Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) for calling on Attorney General Merrick Garland to appoint a special counsel to investigate — which Garland later did — and claiming that Biden’s classified documents were completely different than the documents discovered in former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home.
“Let’s find out what they discover first, and then do whatever needs to be done,” she said. “We all know this needs to be investigated, but it is not the same.”
Sara Haines agreed, arguing that the volume of documents found in each place was enough to show that the two situations were entirely different.

Behar worried that the sudden appearance of classified documents tied to Biden might jeopardize any case that was building against Trump, and she voiced her suspicions: “You know what I think? I’ve never seen a luckier person than Donald Trump. Just as we’re this close to getting him, somehow these documents appear!”
“Here’s the thing,” Alyssa Farah Griffin cut in. “Biden is wrong to have done this. He was in office for —”
“Let’s find out what this is first. Again, one of the things that gets me crazy is before we know, it’s already been spun a specific way,” Goldberg said again, asking how the documents could have been missing for all those years without anyone noticing that they were gone.
“Because to me, if you are missing classified information, I don’t mean to laugh, but in my house, if stuff is missing, I know it’s missing,” Goldberg said.
“Does it feel like oppo-research to you? Does it feel like the Republicans are behind it?” Sunny Hostin asked.
“It did originally,” Goldberg admitted, but she said that Biden’s response had led her to believe that it was more likely an accident.
