Megyn Kelly slammed the “insane lunatics” who attacked swimming champion Riley Gaines on Thursday, calling the ambush “sick and infuriating.”
The host of the Sirius XM “The Megyn Kelly Show” tweeted a video Friday that showed Gaines being attacked by a mob of radical transgender activists during her appearance at San Francisco State University.
“These insane lunatics attacked [Riley Gaines] for speaking up about women’s rights,” Kelly wrote.
“(Riley tied w/Lia Thomas – a man pretending to be a woman — in the NCAA competition.)” she added. “This is SICK and INFURIATING. They must be fought. They must be defeated.”

The former Fox News host’s post included a tweet from the Independent Women’s Forum that read, “We strongly condemn the violence perpetrated against [iwf] spokeswoman [Riley_Gaines] on [SFSU] campus.”
“Riley was violently accosted, ambushed, and physically assaulted during a speech on sex discrimination women face in their own single-sex sports category,” the tweet added.

Gaines, a former University of Kentucky star who was deprived of an NCAA award by biological male trans-identifying swimmer Lia Thomas, was at the school as part of a Turning Point USA event. Video on social media shows Gaines being hustled to safety by police officers as a mob of radical transgender activists follows her.

“I’m okay currently, but an hour and a half later, I’m still barricaded in a room with ambushers on the outside yelling and threatening violence,” Gaines later told the Post Millennial. “As police escorted me out of the event space to my current location, I was hit, physically, twice by what I presume was a male individual. This only assures me I’m doing the right thing.”
Kelly has been very outspoken about transgender issues, specifically biological men competing in women’s sports. Recently, she sat down with Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro on “The Search” and admitted that when it comes to the transgender debate, her opinions have changed.
Kelly told Shapiro she’s now crossed the “Rubicon” and gone from telling others to be tolerant to being an “activist” against men being in girls’ spaces.
“Like, get out, get out of our swimming pools, get out of our locker rooms, get off of our track meets, get out of there,” the former NBC host said. “We’ll find an accommodation for you. Hopefully you’ll get the help you need. But we are not surrendering girlhood or womanhood to you and your mental issues.”
