The embattled Democratic National Committee (DNC) is demanding resignation letters from all current staffers after a series of scandals plunging the party into a state of virtual civil war. The mass purge, led by newly elected party Chairman Tom Perez, has been a longtime coming.
“Immediately after Perez’s selection as party chairman in late February, an adviser to outgoing DNC Interim Chair Donna Brazile, Leah Daughtry, asked every employee to submit a letter of resignation dated April 15, according to multiple sources familiar with the party’s internal workings,” reports NBC News. “A committee advising Perez on his transition is now interviewing staff and others as part of a top-to-bottom review process to decide not only who will stay and who will go, but how the party should be structured in the future.”
Party aides tell NBC News that more changes should be expected in the coming months.
“This is longstanding precedent at the DNC and has happened during multiple Chair transitions,” stated DNC spokeswoman Xochitl Hinojosa. “The process was started before the election of the new Chair. From the beginning, Tom has been adamant that we structure the DNC for future campaigns. Current and future DNC staff will be integral to that effort. Over the last few months, the DNC staff has done incredible work under immense pressure to hold Trump accountable.”

By all accounts, the Democratic Party has found itself plagued by turmoil. The DNC has had three leaders in the last year alone. The last two leaders have been marked by impropriety. Longtime Disgraced party official Debbie Wasserman Schultz stepped down after email leaks revealed that the DNC had attempted to sabotage the campaign of insurgent far-left candidate Bernie Sanders as a way to help party favorite Hillary Clinton.
When Wasserman Schultz was replaced by interim chairman Donna Brazille, scandal followed. Leaks revealed that Brazille had fed word-for-word debate questions from her employer, CNN, to Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
Finally, Perez’s nomination effectively tore the party down the middle as the left-flank of the party tried and failed to to elect far-left, anti-Semitic Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison to run the donkey party.
Far-left activists, including bitter Bernie Sanders supporters, have vowed to oppose the Democratic establishment, now led by former Obama administration official Tom Perez.
