Prince Harry discussed some events that happened since his father, King Charles III, announced that he was battling cancer.

The 39-year-old British royal and his wife, Meghan Markle, are in Canada for the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025’s One Year to Go festivities, per People. He discussed details about his father during an interview with “Good Morning America’s” Will Reeve, son of the late “Superman” actor Christopher Reeve.

“I spoke to him. And I jumped on a plane and went to go see him as soon as I could,” Harry said when Reeve asked how he found out King Charles had cancer.

“Look, I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane, go and see him, and spend any time with him — I’m grateful for that,” the former senior working royal said during the interview.

The Duke of Sussex refused to comment further on the precise status of his father’s health, telling Reeve, “That stays between me and him.”

Things have been tense between Prince Harry and the rest of his family since January 2020 when he and Meghan Markle announced that they were stepping down from their roles as working royals and moving to the United States. These tensions were further exacerbated after the pair participated a tell-all interview with Oprah the following year and after Harry’s memoir was published in 2023.

But the Duke of Sussex indicated that King Charles’ diagnosis could have a reconciliatory effect.

“Yeah, I’m sure,” Harry said when asked about the possibility. “Throughout all these [Invictus Games] families, I see it on a day-to-day basis, the strength of the family unit coming together. I think any illness, any sickness brings families together.”

The Duke of Sussex flew to London just after Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles had cancer. Charles had been hospitalized for an enlarged prostate, though royal officials say that’s not the type of cancer he has.

This latest meeting is rumored to be the first time the two met in person since Harry attended his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022, as The Daily Wire previously reported. The Duke of Sussex did attend the king’s coronation ceremony, but it was reported that father and son never interacted at the event.
