Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard on Thursday shared a major health update on her husband’s aggressive cancer battle. 
The top Trump cabinet official revealed her husband, Abraham, was diagnosed with a “very rare” form of cancer called sacral chordoma. The slow-growing bone cancer typically starts in the bones of the spine or skull, according to the Mayo Clinic.  The disease can grow anywhere along the spine and mostly affects adults ages 40 to 60, with surgery as “the main treatment.” 
On Thursday, Gabbard took to X to provide an encouraging update on Abraham’s course of treatment.
“The surgery to remove bone and surrounding tissue lasted almost seven hours and was successful,” Gabbard said. “He had a rough night and is in a lot of pain, but is finally home resting.&#8221;

Gabbard previously shared a heartfelt message on social media as the couple headed to the hospital for surgery.

Vice President Vance called her a “patriot” and a “great asset” to the White House.

A new drug in development has shown promising results in restricting cancer cells&#8217; ability to hide from the immune system and reduced tumors in some patients by at least 30%. 
<a href="https://www.deccanchronicle.com/lifestyle/health-and-well-being/new-experimental-cancer-drug-removes-tumours-invisibility-cloak-early-trial-shows-1960776">Immunotherapy treatments</a> for cancer have improved survival rates, but due to cancer’s ability to play “hide-and-seek,” many drugs become ineffective. However, <a href="https://www.greywolftherapeutics.com/news/greywolf-therapeutics-reports-durable-clinical-responses-with-first-in-class-oral-erap1-inhibitor-grwd5769-across-six-solid-tumor-types">Greywolf Therapeutics</a>, an Oxford-based biotech company that focuses on treatments for cancer and autoimmune diseases, developed a <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/society/2026/jun/01/cancer-smart-drug-cells-invisibility-cloak-shrink-tumours-trial?utm_source=chatgpt.com">drug</a> designed to &#8220;stop cancer cells concealing themselves from the immune system, allowing immunotherapy treatments to identify and destroy them.” 
A trial, led by the Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester, England, tested 83 patients with cervical, bladder, liver, bowel, lung, or head and neck cancers. The patients were given the drug and immunotherapy treatment, cemiplimab. In the trial across the United Kingdom, France, Spain, and Australia, the research found tumors shrank in 26 patients, and 15 of those patients had tumor reductions by at least 30%.

The drug, called GRWD5769, shrank tumors in all six cancer types and halted the progression of the disease for at least six months in 18% of the cervical cancer patients, 32% of liver cancer patients, 36% of bladder cancer patients, 38% of head and neck cancer patients, 51% of bowel cancer patients, and 55% of lung cancer patients. 
The results of the trial were presented at the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology’s annual meeting in Chicago by <a href="https://www.greywolftherapeutics.com/news/greywolf-therapeutics-reports-durable-clinical-responses-with-first-in-class-oral-erap1-inhibitor-grwd5769-across-six-solid-tumor-types">Professor Fiona Thistlethwaite,</a> the medical director of the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Manchester Clinical Research Facility at The Christie. She said that she is excited about the trial because it shows “strong signals of efficacy across six tumor types that have shown great resistance to immunotherapy, with very few side effects. That&#8217;s unusual at such an early stage.” 
Thistlethwaite told The Guardian, “For a drug that is given as a tablet, this is very impressive. It’s early days, and we need further studies, but this is a new drug with a new mechanism that clearly helps immunotherapy perform more effectively.”
The drug works by addressing <a href="https://blogs.iu.edu/sciu/2020/08/22/cancer-invisibility-cloak/">an issue that has plagued</a> scientists for decades: cancer’s ability to play hide-and-seek. The way the body fights foreign cells — bacteria and viruses — is by antigen-presenting cells (APCs) showing T-cells the external invaders, which then fight the disease. The problem with cancer cells is that they are not external invaders, but the body’s own cells, which become mutated. They coat themselves with PD-L1, a protein normal cells produce that works to hide their identity to T-cells, effectively playing hide-and-seek.
The new drug can “reveal hidden tumors through T-cell diversification and priming,” <a href="https://www.greywolftherapeutics.com/grwd5769#:~:text=What%20stage%20of%20development%20is">according to the Greywolf website,</a> which means that through the drug inhibiting ERAP1, it removes cancer’s &#8220;invisibility cloak” and allows T-cells to detect tumor cells originally invisible.
<a href="https://www.theguardian.com/society/2026/jun/01/cancer-smart-drug-cells-invisibility-cloak-shrink-tumours-trial?utm_source=chatgpt.com">Dr. Samuel Godfrey,</a> Cancer Research UK&#8217;s research information lead, said that while immunotherapy has “transformed treatment for some cancers,” it doesn’t work for everyone. “This trial seems to show how this new drug could make immunotherapy more effective, including in some cases where immunotherapy had previously failed.”

&#8220;Well, you know, the doctors said that according to the American Urological Association, that men over 70 don&#8217;t need a PSA, a blood test anymore because it&#8217;s a slow-growing cancer. Former Attorney General Pam Bondi was reportedly diagnosed with thyroid cancer shortly after her departure from the Department of Justice earlier this year.
Axios <a href="https://www.axios.com/2026/05/27/pam-bondi-white-house-ai">reported</a> that Bondi, 60, has already undergone treatment and is now recovering. Few details about the diagnosis or treatment have been publicly released and Bondi has not personally commented on the reports surrounding her health.
The revelation stunned many in Washington and conservative media circles, especially as the former attorney general has remained closely tied to President Donald Trump following her DOJ exit. Trump is reportedly planning to tap Bondi for a new artificial intelligence advisory role inside the administration.
After the news broke, social media quickly filled with prayers and messages of support from Trump allies, conservative commentators, and longtime supporters.
Former White House official Katie Miller wrote on X that Bondi had been “quietly kicking cancer’s ass the last few weeks,” while praising her personally.

Former Nebraska Republican Senator Ben Sasse said he does not fear his death during an <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/04/09/opinion/ben-sasse-death-pancreatic-cancer.html">interview</a> with Ross Douthat earlier this week.

Sasse is now in the fourth month since his diagnosis, having been told he had three to four months to live.
“I believe in the Resurrection, and I believe in a restoration of this world, and so I did not feel great fear about my death,” Sasse said. “I didn’t want the pain I was going through, I didn’t want to be a pansy-ass in my final moments.”
Sasse had a bloody face during his interview, a side effect of a new cancer treatment, he told Douthat. The treatment is extending the lives of cancer patients, but causes bleeding, peeling, and rashes.
“It’s a nasty drug,” Sasse said. “It causes crazy stuff, like my body can’t grow skin, and so I bleed out of a whole bunch of parts of me that shouldn’t be bleeding.”
Sasse has done several interviews since his diagnosis, and he told Douthat he has “time to redeem.”
“You gotta redeem the time, and there’s only so many bits of unsolicited advice I can give my children,” Sasse said when asked why he is choosing to talk to journalists. “You journalists want to talk, and if you don’t have anybody better, I’m your man.”
Although Sasse said he has made peace with his mortality, he added that he does have regrets about having prioritized poorly throughout his life.
“We’re all on the clock, and I wanted to have prioritized better, and whether I really only had three or four months left or if I get nine to 12 months left, I wanna prioritize better from then. But in my tradition, in Christianity, the need for daily repentance is just a truth. I am broken,” Sasse said. “And I get to repent every day of my sins — of both omission and commission. And yet, at a slightly bigger level, if you’re only gonna get three or four months, you really wanna get some of your affairs in order.”
Sasse said he has felt a heaviness about the diagnosis because he does not want to leave his children without a father.
“I knew that God was not surprised by the diagnosis,” Sasse said. “There is not a maverick molecule in the universe. But I didn’t like the idea of my 14-year-old son not having a dad around at 16. I didn’t like the idea of my daughters, who are 22 and 24, not having their dad there to walk them down the aisle.”
Despite his concerns, Sasse said, he is still at peace.
“I’ve continued to feel a peace about the fact that death is something that we should hate, we should call it a wicked thief, and yet, it’s pretty good that you pass through the veil of tears one time and then there will be no more tears,” Sasse said.

Bayer said on Tuesday its Monsanto unit had reached an agreement worth as much as $7.25 billion to resolve tens of thousands of current and future lawsuits claiming that its Roundup weedkiller caused cancer.
The German company said the proposed nationwide settlement, filed on Tuesday in state court in St. Louis, Missouri, would establish a long-term claims program funded by capped annual payments over up to 21 years.
The company, which acquired Roundup as part of its $63 billion purchase of agrochemical company Monsanto in 2018, is facing claims over Roundup from approximately 65,000 plaintiffs in U.S. state and federal courts.
The plaintiffs say they developed non-Hodgkin lymphoma and other forms of cancer after using the weedkiller, either at home or on the job.
Following the announcement, Bayer shares rose as much as 7.7% to reach their highest level since September 12, 2023. Frankfurt-listed Bayer shares were up 7.2% by 1839 GMT.
Bayer said it expects its provisions and litigation liabilities to rise from 7.8 billion euros ($9.24 billion) to 11.8 billion euros. It anticipates around 5 billion euros in litigation-related payouts in 2026, and now expects negative free cash flow for the year.
Roundup is among the most widely used weedkillers in the United States. Bayer has said decades of studies have shown Roundup and its active ingredient, glyphosate, are safe for human use.
The deal covers the bulk of the lawsuits, but requires a judge&#8217;s approval and a minimum number of plaintiffs to opt in. It does not require Bayer to admit liability or wrongdoing and allows the company to back out if too many plaintiffs decline to participate.
It is also designed to head off future lawsuits, and allows people who can prove they have been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma and were exposed to Roundup prior to Tuesday to file claims to receive a portion of the settlement up to 21 years from now.
The agreement was negotiated with Motley Rice, Seeger Weiss and other law firms that would represent a nationwide class of plaintiffs, if the court allows the deal to proceed.
Bayer CEO Bill Anderson said on a call with investors and reporters that he is confident the proposed class action settlement will resolve the vast majority of the claims, although he declined to say how many people currently support the deal.
Attorneys who negotiated on behalf of the plaintiffs said the deal represents the best path forward. Payouts will be determined by a tiered system that considers exposure, age at diagnosis and cancer type. Individuals could receive up to $198,000 or more, according to attorney Eric Holland.
The company said it had separately reached confidential settlements to resolve other Roundup cases with specific law firms, although the company would not name the firms or specify the amount of those deals.
Tuesday&#8217;s proposed settlement comes after the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear an appeal in a case that Bayer argues will sharply limit its liability in the litigation.
The company said the Supreme Court case, scheduled for oral arguments at the end of April, remains essential to resolving the Roundup litigation.
Bayer is arguing that consumers should not be able to sue it under state law for failing to warn that Roundup increases cancer risk because the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has found no such risk and requires no such warning. Bayer argued that federal law does not allow it to add any warning to the product beyond the EPA-approved label.
A favorable ruling would wipe out several large verdicts that remain on appeal and could also prevent future claims from individuals who choose to opt out of the nationwide settlement.
Bayer investors welcomed news of the proposed settlement but some, like Markus Manns, portfolio manager at Bayer shareholder Union Investment, cautioned it was &#8220;not yet the breakthrough that many investors had hoped for.&#8221;
&#8220;The settlement buys Bayer time, but without a win in the Supreme Court, a new wave of lawsuits could roll over Bayer in a few years,&#8221; Manns said.
The company had previously paid about $10 billion to settle most of the Roundup lawsuits that were pending as of 2020, but failed to get a settlement then covering future cases.
It has had a mixed record with cases that have gone to trial. It prevailed in a series of Roundup trials, but has been hit with large jury awards in the past few years, including a $2.1 billion verdict in a case in the U.S. state of Georgia in March.
The verdicts shattered both investor confidence and company hopes that the worst of the Roundup litigation was over, and put pressure on Bayer to find a comprehensive solution to the lawsuits.

Regular CNN analyst Bakari Sellers veered into Nazi territory when he referred to President Donald Trump as a &#8220;cancer&#8221; and suggested that the president&#8217;s voters were vermin or even demons who needed to be completely eradicated from the United States.
Sellers, during a recent panel discussion hosted by ousted CNN anchor Don Lemon, claimed that the nation was well on its way to requiring an &#8220;exorcism&#8221; or even a &#8220;fumigation&#8221; to remove the MAGA movement in its entirety.

&#8220;You know, Joe Biden was somewhat of a bridge, he was supposed to be a bridge,&#8221; Sellers began, suggesting that former President Joe Biden&#8217;s election had been a means to an end — the tolerable middle ground that would allow the country to break away from Trump&#8217;s first administration and pave the way toward a real Democratic movement.
&#8220;A palate cleanser, or somebody who morally and ethically was antithetical to who Donald Trump was,&#8221; Sellers continued. &#8220;You know, Uncle Joe was the nice guy, an older white guy comes in and you want to eat ice cream with him, right?&#8221;
But then Sellers went on to say that President Trump&#8217;s decisive victory in 2024 had proved that using Biden as a &#8220;palate cleanser&#8221; had not been enough to put an end to the Trump&#8217;s support and clear the way for Democrats moving forward. He made no move to recognize that Biden may have failed to move the needle because he was not an effective leader, nor did he raise the possibility that Trump had coasted to reelection in 2024 because former Vice President Kamala Harris had not been a strong candidate.
Instead, Sellers responded to that assessment by arguing in favor of taking more drastic measures to &#8220;cleanse&#8221; the nation&#8217;s palate of its taste for Trump, comparing the president&#8217;s supporters to vermin that required &#8220;fumigation&#8221; and even demons in desperate need of an &#8220;exorcism.&#8221;
&#8220;I think what that episode in our country&#8217;s history showed us is that we really need some fumigation, right? We need a — a — exorcism, for lack of a better term,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We need a more aggressive approach to go in and surgically remove the cancer that is the Donald Trump and MAGA movement.&#8221;

Researchers at the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO), led by Dr. Mariano Barbacid, have achieved a <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-15512253/Huge-pancreatic-cancer-breakthrough-scientists-achieve-permanent-disappearance-disease-new-triple-threat-approach.html">significant breakthrough</a> in the treatment of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), the most common and deadly form of pancreatic cancer. In a study <a href="https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.2523039122">published</a> in the journal PNAS, the team demonstrated that a new triple-drug combination therapy can completely and permanently eliminate pancreatic tumors in experimental mouse models.
Pancreatic cancer has long been considered one of the most difficult &#8220;incurable&#8221; diseases, characterized by a five-year survival rate of less than 11%. Its resilience is largely due to the KRAS oncogene, a mutation present in approximately 90% of cases. Although KRAS was historically considered &#8220;undruggable,&#8221; recent advances have enabled the development of RAS inhibitors. However, these single-target drugs often fail in the long term because tumors quickly develop resistance by utilizing alternative survival pathways.
The CNIO team’s innovation lies in a &#8220;triple-threat&#8221; approach that blocks three independent signaling nodes simultaneously: downstream (RAF1), upstream (EGFR), and orthogonal (STAT3) pathways. By targeting these three routes, the therapy effectively &#8220;traps&#8221; the cancer cells, preventing them from outmaneuvering the treatment. The researchers tested this across various models, including mice with human pancreatic tissue and mice genetically engineered to model the disease. In all cases, the combination — consisting of the drugs daraxonrasib (KRAS inhibitor), afatinib (EGFR inhibitor), and SD36 (STAT3 degrader) — resulted in complete tumor regression without the appearance of resistance for over 200 days post-treatment. Crucially, the therapy was well-tolerated with no significant toxicities.
The implications of this study are profound. Currently, patients rely on decades-old cytotoxic drugs like gemcitabine or highly toxic combinations like FOLFIRINOX, which offer limited benefits. This new research provides a roadmap for human clinical trials, suggesting that the key to curing pancreatic cancer lies in combination therapies rather than monotherapy.
While the results are promising, experts note limitations: the success was observed in healthy laboratory mice, and human physiology may present different challenges. Nevertheless, the Spanish government and the international scientific community have hailed the discovery as a potential turning point. If these results can be replicated in humans, it could transform the prognosis for a disease that currently kills more than half of its victims within three months of diagnosis.

Her passing was announced by her family in a social media post from the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum.
&#8220;Our beautiful Tatiana passed away this morning. She will always be in our hearts,&#8221; the family wrote.
Schlossberg was a climate change and environmental journalist and the second child of JFK&#8217;s daughter, former U.S. diplomat Caroline Kennedy, and the designer-artist Edwin Schlossberg.
In a New Yorker essay published in November, Schlossberg said she had been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia with a rare mutation, a cancer of the blood and bone marrow.
At the time, she also criticized her cousin Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the U.S. health secretary, for being a vaccine skeptic and cutting funding for cancer research.

According to the <a href="https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/6212-acute-myeloid-leukemia-aml">Cleveland Clinic</a>, acute myeloid leukemia &#8220;typically happens when certain genes or chromosomes mutate (change). AML usually affects people age 60 and older, but it can also affect younger adults and children. [It] is an aggressive cancer that can be life-threatening.&#8221;
The illness only affects about 4 in 100,000 adults per year.
Blood Cancer United <a href="https://bloodcancerunited.org/resources/newsroom/fda-approves-new-drug-treat-advanced-aml-adults">reported</a> in November that the FDA approved a new drug called ziftomenib to treat those with advanced AML with an NPM1 gene mutation.
&#8220;In a clinical trial, 21.4% of patients treated with ziftomenib went into a full remission or remission with partial recovery of blood counts, which means there were no signs of cancer cells in the bone marrow, but not all blood counts had returned to normal.&#8221;

Legendary recording artist Barry Manilow revealed that he’s been diagnosed with lung cancer and will need to reschedule some of his upcoming concerts.
The 82-year-old “Copacabana” singer gave an update to fans with a statement posted to Instagram.
&#8220;The MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed,&#8221; Manilow wrote in the statement.
&#8220;It&#8217;s pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early,&#8221; he went on. &#8220;The doctors do not believe it has spread, and I&#8217;m taking tests to confirm their diagnosis.&#8221;
The singer said he is &#8220;going into surgery to have the spot removed,&#8221; which means he’ll have to reschedule the January shows on his “Christmas: A Gift of Love” series. He promised to return to the stage on Valentine’s Day weekend in 2026.

Former Nebraska Republican Senator Ben Sasse revealed on Tuesday that he has been diagnosed with metastasized, stage-four pancreatic cancer, adding that he is &#8220;gonna die.&#8221;
Sasse, a 53-year-old husband and father of three, <a href="https://x.com/BenSasse/status/2003483746540965891">announced</a> the tragic news in a lengthy social media post, saying that the diagnosis is a &#8220;death sentence.&#8221;
&#8220;Friends- This is a tough note to write, but since a bunch of you have started to suspect something, I’ll cut to the chase: Last week I was diagnosed with metastasized, stage-four pancreatic cancer, and am gonna die,&#8221; Sasse wrote. &#8220;Advanced pancreatic is nasty stuff; it’s a death sentence. But I already had a death sentence before last week too — we all do.&#8221;
Sasse, who represented Nebraska in the U.S. Senate for eight years, resigned from his seat in 2022 and, shortly after, was appointed the president of the University of Florida. He <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/former-gop-senator-ben-sasse-announces-he-is-stepping-down-as-university-of-florida-president">stepped down</a> from leading the University of Florida in July of 2024 after revealing that his wife was dealing with a serious medical condition and had suffered an aneurysm and a series of strokes. During his time as president of Florida, Sasse took a strong stance against anti-Israel protesters in the wake of Hamas&#8217; terrorist attack on Israel and said the university would &#8220;draw a hard line at unlawful action.&#8221;
Sasse was a staunch pro-life advocate in the U.S. Senate and constantly pushed the U.S. government to remain tough on China. He has also been a strong critic of President Donald Trump since Trump first stepped into the political spotlight in 2016.
