Paris Jackson, the 25-year-old daughter of the late pop star Michael Jackson, berated fans for their treatment of her regarding her dad’s birthday.
The model and actress posted a video to Instagram on August 29 explaining her thoughts on the situation.
“Today’s my dad’s birthday, and back when he was alive, he used to hate anybody acknowledging his birthday, wishing him a happy birthday, celebrating it, nothing like that,” she told her 4.2 million followers.
Paris discussed how some of Michael’s fans had reprimanded her in the past for not posting about his birthday on social media. “It apparently means that you don’t love them, you don’t care about them,” Paris Jackson said sarcastically.

“There have been times where I don’t post anything for my dad’s birthday, and people lose their minds. They tell me to kill myself,” Paris continued. “And they’re basically measuring my love for my own father based off of what I post on Instagram.”
The singer went on to play a clip from a show she played August 29 at the Amphitheater at Las Colonias Park in Colorado, where she opened for the band Incubus. Paris gave her late father a shoutout during the performance.
“He put 50 years of blood, sweat and tears and love and passion into doing what he did, so that I can stand up here onstage in front of you and scream into a microphone,” Paris told the assembled crowd. “I owe everything to him.”

“Please don’t use a man you have never met as an excuse to abuse, manipulate, and harass his daughter (who you also have never met),” she wrote in the Instagram post caption.
Meanwhile, Michael’s two other children, Prince Jackson, 26, and Blanket Jackson, 21, showed up in Las Vegas on August 29 at a birthday celebration for their father.
Pop singer Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009, in Los Angeles of an accidental drug overdose. He was 50 at his time of death.
