<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The early-years Michael Jackson biopic &#8220;</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Michael&#8221; </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">continues to fill seats in month two of its theatrical run, and it is on track to overtake &#8220;</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Bohemian Rhapsody&#8221; </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">as the highest-grossing musical biopic of all time. Across social media, clips have proliferated of people flocking to the theater and taking in the film like a once-in-a-lifetime concert event — and not just people old enough to remember Jackson, but their children and grandchildren, too. For all the scandals that plagued “Wacko Jacko” in life, it would seem he has been forgiven in death.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Wall Street Journal&#8217;s</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Rob Henderson </span><a href="https://wsjfreeexpression.substack.com/p/cancel-culture-can-beat-it"><span style="font-weight: 400;">speculates</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> about why this is, concluding that because Jackson’s scandals are such old news, they predate our new “script” for social cancellation. But he doesn’t fully reckon with the power of the entertainer’s singular status as the King of Pop. It’s one thing to tell people to give up watching Bill Cosby routines or Woody Allen movies. It’s another thing entirely to tell them the soundtrack of their childhood was based on a lie. And more, a soundtrack produced by a man who presented himself as a larger-than-life humanitarian figure — in </span><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IWAdE_H6fQ&amp;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">the concert video for “Man in the Mirror,”</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> sharing the screen with a parade of global icons from Mother Teresa to Martin Luther King Jr. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">That particular music video, which also includes a bipartisan cross-section of popular presidents, encapsulates Jackson’s universal appeal. In it, he embodies a transcendent American optimism that no one music star could bottle up and sell at scale in today’s fractured culture, where Americans no longer collectively buy the same records or watch the same TV shows. To miss peak Jackson is in some sense to miss peak America.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">On the Right, that nostalgia has manifested itself in the populist wave that carried Donald Trump to two presidential terms. Barack Obama may have been the first black president, but his </span><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRxLHjYCQBs"><span style="font-weight: 400;">remarks</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> on Jackson’s death were noticeably muted in contrast to Trump’s effusively fond </span><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yk1RgTKjGd8"><span style="font-weight: 400;">memories</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> of the star, and of their many “unbelievable weekends” in Florida. Trump was always among Jackson’s staunchest supporters, and the fact that their fanbases now overlap is not a coincidence. Both are perceived as the embodiment of “peak America.” Both successfully marketed themselves as near-messianic figures, crucified by “the establishment” but defiantly rising again — by the people and for the people. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Jackson’s reputational resurrection should be understood in this context of reascendant American populism. Today, people are less inclined than ever to trust institutions and their narratives. “Michael Jackson was a devil” is an “approved” narrative, and as such, it will be chucked in the same bin as “Donald Trump is Hitler,” or “Anthony Fauci is a saint.” It doesn’t matter if any particular approved narrative might have better evidence than others. It’s all about the vibes. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">On the furthest fringes of the Right, QAnon-style conspiracists have spun out the theory that Jackson was framed because he was actually “protecting” children at Neverland from Jeffrey Epstein (never mind that no one ever accused Epstein of a prurient interest in prepubescent boys). Anti-semitism, a longtime staple in the rhetoric of black Jackson advocates like Louis Farrakhan, is unsurprisingly in that mix as well, now echoed in white Gen Z voices like Nick Fuentes.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But one needn’t venture to the fringe to find enthusiastic right-leaning takes on this revival. For </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Federalist</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">, Eddie Scarry </span><a href="https://thefederalist.com/2026/05/11/with-the-michael-jackson-biopic-release-its-long-past-time-to-let-go-of-the-false-allegations/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">declares</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> that the people have spoken, and now is the moment to “let go” and move on from all the media’s “lies.” Those who disagree are painted as people with an “irrepressible urge to talk about pedophilia.” Meanwhile, </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">National Review</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">’s Armond White </span><a href="https://thefederalist.com/2026/05/11/with-the-michael-jackson-biopic-release-its-long-past-time-to-let-go-of-the-false-allegations/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">praises the biopic</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> as a victorious blow against “dullards and authoritarians.” A follow-up piece </span><a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/2026/05/fosse-for-the-defense/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">compares</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> the “vengeful liberal-media backlash” to Trump Derangement Syndrome and pronounces this “a unified moment in a culture war we can’t afford to lose.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Whatever culture war White thinks “we” are fighting, blind adulation for Michael Jackson is in no way a precondition for its victory. Even aside from the allegations, conservatives should be repulsed by the way Jackson “acquired” his own three children by surrogate and (it’s <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2009/06/30/michael-jackson-debbie-rowe-surrogate-children-in-vitro/">claimed</a>, and appears likely) sperm donor. Then, of course, there is the insouciant way he continued to behave inappropriately with a revolving door of attractive young boys in his orbit, even after coming under suspicion. It is beyond dispute that he repeatedly insinuated himself into the homes of starstruck, gullible families, fixated obsessively on their sons, and invited them into his bed while daring the world to object.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">If the testimony of some of these boys and (now) men is to be believed, Jackson also carried the values of “free love” to their most sickening </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">conclusion</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">, insisting to his alleged minor victims that only “ignorant” people would deny the purity of their bond. Whole websites and subreddits are dedicated to litigating and re-litigating both sides of these allegations, whose number is still growing as of this year, with </span><a href="https://variety.com/2026/music/news/michael-jackson-lawsuit-sexual-abuse-cascio-brainwash-1236730000/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">newly surfacing public claims</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> from the Cascio family. A jury notoriously didn’t put Jackson’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt for the particular crimes he was accused of in 2005. But it is nigh impossible to study </span><a href="https://x.com/AndrewHammel1/status/2059279954643210362"><span style="font-weight: 400;">the full picture</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> of the evidence across his career and not conclude there is fire behind all the smoke.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Both Jackson in life and the estate in his death have made it as difficult as possible for the public to see that picture and make its own judgment. In 1994, Jackson hushed up his first and most damning young accuser, Jordan Chandler, with millions of dollars. A heavily biased nod to that allegation had to be cut from the new film on the discovery of a clause in the settlement that <a href="https://variety.com/2026/film/news/michael-movie-reshoots-removing-child-abuse-allegations-1236710221/">prevented</a> the estate from dramatizing it, predicting precisely such an attempt. Vaguely passive-aggressive scenes of young Jackson with children were left in the final cut with no clear dramatic culmination.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Meanwhile, the 2019 documentary &#8220;</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Leaving Neverland</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">,&#8221; profiling accusers Wade Robson and James Safechuck, has been driven off of HBO and is not legally available in the U.S. (Their accusations are partially recapitulated </span><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOrOZL7_NkI&amp;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">here</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.) Their now decade-old joint lawsuit against the estate for negligence is currently trial-bound, with a date still pending. A follow-up 2025 documentary portrayed the unglamorous process. Both men have felt the concentrated fury of Jackson’s fanbase, including death threats. To believe they’re lying, one would have to believe they are choosing to put their families through this interminable grind for the uncertain hope of winning money at the end of the tunnel — in Robson’s case, also embarrassingly outing himself for alleged perjury in Jackson’s 2005 defense. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">For some of us, given the totality of the evidence against Jackson, the darkest hypothesis appears the simplest: The accusers are not lying now.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But the music. What of the music? The music is as it always was, as any art is when once it is shared with the world — not Jackson’s alone, but the world’s. It remains ours to dance to, as freely as we like. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Our only mistake would be to assume that because we loved “Man in the Mirror,” we knew the man. We knew precisely what he chose for us to know. </span></p>

What Michael Jackson’s Revival Says About America

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The new Michael Jackson biopic, “Michael,” was released today, and the director of “Leaving Neverland” is not pleased.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Dan Reed is known for the 2019 HBO documentary which explored the child sexual abuse allegations against the King of Pop, who died from an overdose in 2009. Reed said he can&#8217;t understand how anyone still believes Jackson should be celebrated.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;It says that people don’t care that he was a child molester. Literally, people just don’t care,&#8221; Reed told The Hollywood Reporter in an </span><a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/leaving-neverland-michael-jackson-dan-reed-1236571986/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">interview</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> published earlier this week. &#8220;I think a lot of people just love his music and turn a deaf ear. And short of having actual video evidence of Michael Jackson engaged in sexual intercourse with a 7-year-old child, I don’t know what would be sufficient to change these people’s minds.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Michael” director Antoine Fuqua addressed the accusations against Jackson in an </span><a href="https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2026/04/27/antoine-fuqua-profile?_sp=3ac5f857-94bf-4ed7-9051-b555ea70fcdf.1776878032698"><span style="font-weight: 400;">interview</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> with The New Yorker published Monday. &#8220;Sometimes people do some nasty things for some money,&#8221; he said of the multiple claims from victims who claimed Jackson abused them.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Reed responded to that, saying, &#8220;For Antoine Fuqua to accuse people of gold digging is kind of ironic… It seems to me all the people involved in this movie are just making bank.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;How can you tell an authentic story about Michael Jackson without ever mentioning the fact that he was seriously accused of being a child molester?&#8221; Reed added. &#8220;I just don’t really see it. If anyone’s making money, it’s Michael Jackson’s estate and the people who worked on this biographical picture.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Wade and James, the protagonists of ‘Leaving Neverland,’ have never made a cent from their accusations,&#8221; Reed went on. &#8220;People don’t seem to understand: If you bring a lawsuit, you don’t get any money until you win in court. And when you win in court, that means you’ve proved your case, right?&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The “Leaving Neverland” director also accused the media of “sucking up” to the Jackson estate for fear of retribution from the fans.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;So a lot of people, I think, will kind of swallow any misgivings they may have and just sort of say, &#8216;Oh well, it’s a great jukebox movie&#8217; and just completely ignore the fact that this guy was worse than Jeffrey Epstein.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Jackson was first accused of sexual abuse by a 13-year-old boy in 1993. That case was settled for $20 million, and the pop singer never faced criminal charges. He was arrested on child molestation charges in 2003 and was acquitted in 2005. After Jackson’s death, more alleged victims came forward and sued Jackson’s estate in 2013.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">There are rumors floating around that the original version of “Michael” did address the allegations, but those parts were cut due to a clause in the original settlement that provided the story could never be the subject of a movie. Actor Colman Domingo mentioned the omission while teasing the possibility of a sequel.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“The film takes place from the ’60s to 1988, so it does not go into the first allegations,” the actor, who plays Joe Jackson in the movie, </span><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59jEWDncv28"><span style="font-weight: 400;">said</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> during a &#8220;Today&#8221; show appearance. “So basically, we centered it on the makings of Michael. So, it’s an intimate portrait of who Michael is … through his eyes.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Domingo hinted at the &#8220;possibility&#8221; of a sequel, which he hinted would include the sexual abuse trial storyline.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Michael” is getting mixed reviews, but is still expected to do well at the box office this weekend due to the devoted fans who will go see it no matter what.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/music"><span style="font-weight: 400;">recording artist</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">’s sons TJ, Taj, and Taryll posted an </span><a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C_929Mbuhsu/?img_index=1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">update</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> about his passing on Instagram. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“It’s with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson is no longer with us,” the post said. “We are shocked, saddened and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The post continued, “Some of you may know him as Tito Jackson from the legendary Jackson 5, some may know him as ‘Coach Tito’ or some know him as ‘Poppa T.’ Nevertheless, he will be missed tremendously. It will forever be ‘Tito Time’ for us. Please remember to do what our father always preached and that is ‘Love One Another.’ We love you Pops.”</span></p>
<p>Jackson <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/09/16/us/tito-jackson-dead.html">reportedly</a> had a heart attack while driving to Oklahoma, where he had recently moved.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Jackson was a founding member of the Jackson 5, along with brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael. The singing family was internationally known in the late 1960s and 1970s. Some of their most popular songs included “ABC,” “I Want You Back,” and “The Love You Save.”</span></p>

<p>Another added, &#8220;Relax people the light is causing a shadow on her face. Why is old such a label for undesirable beauty standards anyway!? She is beautiful and deserves to be treated with kindness.&#8221;</p>
<p>While a third wrote, &#8220;Oh my gosh, your face is beautiful!! Your features on your face are flawless!!! Gorgeous video&#8230;It&#8217;s insane to me, that grown adults come on here just to be mean and nasty!! A positive word can do so much!!! <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">There is speculation about how true to life Michael Jackson’s biopic will be considering that his estate currently retains music rights to his catalog of work. The biopic is being made with the estate&#8217;s cooperation. That means King and Fuqua will need to portray the King of Pop in an honest yet forgiving light to appease fans, his estate, and moviegoers looking to learn the true story.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Jackson maintained he was innocent until his death. He was found not guilty of child molestation following a trial in 2005.</span></p>

<p>The documentary is titled &#8220;TMZ Investigates: Who Really Killed Michael Jackson?&#8221; and will <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQmkNAroLjE" target="_blank" rel="noopener">air on FOX</a> on Tuesday, September 6 — and a <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/08/29/michael-jackson-used-19-fake-ids-to-scores-drugs-new-doc-revelations-on-birthday/?_ga=2.30069497.773706039.1661820752-759879088.1656273426" target="_blank" rel="noopener">preview</a> shows former Jackson physician Conrad Murray claiming that his client had been a manipulative drug-addict who used doctors to get what he needed.</p>

<p>Murray took most of the blame when Jackson was found dead in 2009. The death was ruled a homicide and Murray was charged because he had administered what officials said was the fatal dose of propofol. The doctor served just under two years of his four-year sentence for <a href="https://www.biography.com/personality/conrad-murray" target="_blank" rel="noopener">involuntary manslaughter</a> — but he alleges in the new documentary that he was unaware that Jackson may have had other doctors providing him with drugs at the same time.</p>
<p>Los Angeles Police Department Detective Orlando Martinez appeared to believe there was more to the story as well, saying, &#8220;It’s a lot more complicated than just: Dr. Murray was at his bedside when he died &#8230; Circumstances had been leading up to his death for years, and all of these different medical professionals had allowed Michael to dictate his own terms, get the medicines he wanted, when he wanted them, where he wanted them. All of them are the reason why he’s dead today.&#8221;</p>
<p>Jackson&#8217;s ex-wife Debbie Rowe said that she was aware of some of the abuse, claiming that the late Hollywood dermatologist Arnold Klein had been responsible for some of the drugs, allowing Jackson to get high on demerol in his office.</p>
<p>&#8220;There were times he would write prescriptions for things that had nothing to do with what we were treating them for. He would write prescriptions that were not conducive to what a dermatologist would normally write a prescription for,&#8221; she said in the documentary.</p>
<p>The documentary also alleges that Klein eventually became a friend — and that he also kept Jackson&#8217;s fraudulent documents — providing backgrounds on 19 different aliases that the singer used to get drugs without raising red flags.</p>
<p>&#8220;The way that Michael went about getting all these drugs was doctor shopping. He had multiple, different doctors that he was involved with and he would go to ‘Doctor A’ and ask for a sedative, and then he would go to ‘Doctor B’ and may ask for the same one,&#8221; Dr. Harry Glassman, Jackson’s plastic surgeon, explained. &#8220;Michael is responsible, to a great extent, for his own demise, but he certainly had a lot of help from the medical community.&#8221;</p>

<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">Raymond Chen, a chief software engineer for Microsoft, </span><a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://devblogs.microsoft.com/oldnewthing/20220816-00/?p=106994/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span data-preserver-spaces="true">shared</span></a><span data-preserver-spaces="true"> a story from one of his colleagues, who said a major computer manufacturer discovered that while playing Jackson&#8217;s 1989 title track from her fourth record, certain laptops crashed.</span></p>
<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">&#8220;I would not have wanted to be in the laboratory that they must have set up to investigate this problem,&#8221; Chen said in a blog post. &#8220;Not an artistic judgment.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">During the investigation, they found that by isolating what was crushing the inside of the laptops, the song contained one of the natural resonant frequencies for the model of 5400 rpm hard drives used by the manufacturer.</span></p>

<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">Maybe Jackson&#8217;s militant dance choreography, political messaging, and vision for people of the world to unite under a rhythm nation filtered through black and white cinematography were just too much for the hard drive&#8217;s revolutions per minute.</span></p>
<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">Chen said the investigation turned &#8220;extremely weird&#8221; when they found that the classic 80s pop song crashed its competitor&#8217;s hard drives and other laptops beside the computer playing the track.</span></p>
<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">&#8220;The reason is that this song contained a frequency that matched the natural resonant frequency of the hard drive that these laptops were using,&#8221; Chen added.</span></p>
<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">Manufacturers resolved the issue by writing a special audio filter that detects such frequencies by filtering them out before the vibrations are produced and amplified out of the speakers.</span></p>
<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">&#8220;And I&#8217;m sure they put a digital version of a ‘Do not remove’ sticker on that audio filter,&#8221; Chen said. &#8220;Though I&#8217;m worried that in the many years since the workaround was added, nobody remembers why it&#8217;s there.”</span></p>
<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">&#8220;Hopefully, their laptops are not still carrying this audio filter to protect against damage to a model of hard drive they are no longer using,&#8221; he added.</span></p>
<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">Natural resonant frequencies have not only destroyed internal storage systems, but have also been strong enough to collapse bridges.</span></p>

<p>The rookie defensive end&#8217;s performance aired Tuesday on the premiere episode of the HBO series &#8220;Hard Knocks&#8221; — made in partnership with NFL Films — which follows an NFL team through the annual pre-season <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/aaron-rodgers-shows-up-for-training-camp-dressed-as-nic-cage-from-con-air/">training cam</a>p.</p>

<p>Making the rookies sing in front of their teammates is apparently a <a href="https://www.si.com/extra-mustard/2022/08/10/aidan-hutchinson-lions-billie-jean-hard-knocks">rite of passage</a> of sorts on &#8220;Hard Knocks&#8221; and while some might be embarrassed to be put on the spot in such fashion, Hutchinson appeared to fully embrace the experience. Dancing and strutting back and forth, he sang alone until his teammates eventually began to nod their heads and sing along with him.</p>

<p>By the end of the song, the atmosphere was electric — dozens of Hutchinson&#8217;s teammates were singing and dancing along to the iconic lyrics: &#8220;Billie Jean is not my lover, She’s just a girl who claims that I am the one, But the kid is not my son.&#8221;</p>
<p>Hutchinson got the team so wrapped up in the performance that one of his teammates <a href="https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2022/8/10/23299925/aidan-hutchinson-billie-jean-karaoke-hard-knocks">ripped off his shirt</a>, tossing it toward the front of the room. Another teammate quickly snagged the shirt out of the air, and without missing a beat, began waving it like a flag as he continued to sing and dance along.</p>

<p>The new Broadway musical “MJ,” which depicts the days before Michael Jackson&#8217;s 1992 Dangerous tour, opened on Tuesday night and was slammed by critics for ignoring child sex abuse allegations that were made against Jackson.</p>
<p><a href="https://news.yahoo.com/mj-review-flashy-michael-jackson-020054951.html">Variety reported</a>:</p>
<blockquote><p><em>In answer to the question of whether it&#8217;s possible to separate the art from the artist, “MJ” performs a slick, crotch-grabbing sidestep. &#8230; Produced by special arrangement with the Michael Jackson estate, “MJ” narrows in on a troubled time for the artist, apparently for the sake of depicting him as a victim of the tabloid press and presenting an oblique denial of unspecified wrongdoing, referred to only briefly as “recent allegations.” &#8230; If there was darkness behind the angelic falsetto, a mix of light and shadow that made Michael Jackson a singular artist, “MJ” enacts a sleight of hand, insisting it didn’t belong to him. It’s a renouncement worthy enough of a smooth criminal.</em></p></blockquote>
<p>The <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/theatre/what-to-see/mj-review-michael-jackson-musical-fails-portrait-star-entertainment/">Daily Telegraph</a>: “Following the broadcast of Leaving Neverland, a TV documentary in which two men accused Jackson of molesting them when they were boys, there were many who felt that a new stage show focusing on the singer was in terrible taste. And yet the box office has done brisk business, proving that Jackson is pretty much uncancellable.”</p>
<p><a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/01/theater/mj-musical-review.html">The New York Times’</a> Jesse Green:</p>
<blockquote><p><em>As the joys of the early scenes begin to fade, “MJ” settles for baldly providing, in the relatively small space allotted to words, an avalanche of astonishing and sorrowful facts. Which is why the absence of the biggest one is so jarring. In agreeing to write what is essentially an authorized biography — the show has been produced “by special arrangement with the Michael Jackson estate” — Nottage apparently made a compromise: She would note his minor oddities while avoiding the most troubling accusations against him.</em></p></blockquote>
<p><a href="https://deadline.com/2022/02/mj-broadway-review-michael-jackson-musical-1234922944/">Deadline</a>: “To address the elephant man in the room: While <em>MJ</em> depicts Jackson’s drug problems, raises (if only to dismiss) charges of racial self-loathing, references the Bubbles-and-Joseph Merrick eccentricities, the third-rail allegations of child molestation go unstated if not entirely ignored.”</p>
<p>Deadline added, “The approach is, historically speaking, defendable: The events of <em>MJ</em> are set in 1992 as Jackson rehearses his upcoming Dangerous world tour. &#8230; Within the musical’s universe, the closest <em>MJ</em> comes to confronting the topic is a vague reference to a family being invited on tour with the singer, but even that comment is open to interpretation: Is the business associate raising the issue merely worried about the expense of additional people on tour, or is he fretting about putting a young boy in such close proximity to the star? Is the reference’s sense of foreboding rooted in concern for victims of child abuse, or for a victim of scheming blackmailers?”</p>
<p>At one point in the musical, Jackson’s manager asks, “Who the hell is this family he wants to bring on the tour?”</p>
<p>Deadline commented:</p>

It wants to blame everything sad and weird about Jackson on others (especially the press, who are equated with the zombies in ‘Thriller’) but credit him alone for his every good deed and success.”</p>

<p>Carlson noted of the high-ranking Democrat official&#8217;s curious new look, mocking her as the reincarnation of deceased pop star Michael Jackson, who was known for apparently having numerous plastic surgeries.</p>
<p>Some folks watching TV this weekend &#8220;could have had the shock&#8221; of their life if they scrolled upon Pelosi&#8217;s interview, Carlson started the segment, aptly captioned, &#8220;Shocking TV Appearance Raises Eyebrows.&#8221;</p>

<p>&#8220;Michael Jackson was on &#8216;Face the Nation,'&#8221; Carlson said. &#8220;Let&#8217;s be clear, this wasn&#8217;t video of Michael Jackson performing his hit songs of the 1990s; this appeared to be a living version of the international pop star that news reports claim died of a drug [overdose] more than a dozen years ago. And despite those claims, there he was: fully, undeniably Michael Jackson talking on television.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;How can that be?&#8221; Carlson mocked, adding, &#8220;we can only show you what he saw.&#8221; The segment then cut away to a clip of Pelosi talking about January 6, 2021, and ripping into Republicans.</p>
<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s nothing more important for us to do than to protect our Constitution and our democracy,&#8221; the House Speaker said on &#8220;Face the Nation.&#8221; &#8220;What the Republicans are doing across the country, is really a legislative continuation of what they did on January 6th, which is to undermine our democracy.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;See, Michael Jackson,&#8221; Carlson said of Pelosi. &#8220;That was him.&#8221;</p>
<p>There was no performance of the song &#8220;Billie Jean,&#8221; the Fox News host said, &#8220;apparently he&#8217;s given up singing, now he&#8217;s telling lies about politics.&#8221;</p>
<p>Carlson wasn&#8217;t done yet, closing the segment: &#8220;If you&#8217;ve ever seen Michael Jackson, you cannot forget the face, though admittedly, he&#8217;s had a lot of work done since we saw him last.&#8221;</p>
